Lestat and Claudia relationship is a mother daughter relationship, yes she calls him uncle and father in the books, but it’s a mother daughter relationship in the sense that he is the one who created her, Claudia is of his making.

Claudia’s resentment is the resentment you have towards your mother: “how can you hate what I am, how can you not like me, if it was you who made me, you who shaped me into what I am?”

He doesn’t like her, and still they are the same.

There’s one thing that I find lacking in the show and it’s Lestat and Claudia’s relationship: the kinship yet the resentment, the love yet the jealousy, the need for acceptance denied that ultimately brought the violence. It would have been a beautiful and complex thing to explore.
