It’s almost been 24 hours since vol 2 came out and I’m still super pissed off, so here’s a list of everything wrong in volume 2.
Byler. Queerbait of the fucking century??? I would’ve been significantly less upset if they hadn’t advertised/marketed it so hard during pride month. And making the queer kid the sad gay vessel through which the straight couple thrives is nothing short of homophobic.
The deaths. They advertised this season as being particularly dangerous/full of death, which was a straight up lie. The only people who died were either antagonists or minor background characters, with the exception of Eddie (though it was extremely obvious from the start that he was canon fodder, much like Bob- despite how much I liked Eddie’s character, there was never a doubt in my mind that he wasn’t going to die.)
Max’s “death”. So I know I just did a section on the deaths but this one pissed me off so much I had to give it it’s own seperate section. Max’s “death” was a total copout. Don’t get me wrong, I love her character. But I wish she did die. Having someone die and be brought back to life is such a terrible, cliche, overused trope. It’s too safe of a choice. Where is the danger? I want to actually be scared that the characters I love might not make it out alive. And since when could El bring people back to life? That’s never been explored in the show before, making it completely out of place and confusing when watching the scene. Having Max die would’ve been impactful, and shown to the audience that any of the characters can die, not just new ones, or unimportant background ones. It would’ve raised the stakes! The scene where she “died” was heartbreaking and powerful, but then they negated that by bringing her back to life, rendering the scene pointless. They either should’ve actually genuinely killed her, or not have her “die” at all. Having that “in-between” sort of situation where she technically died, but came back to life (albeit in a coma) was super flaky, and imo, bad writing.
Speaking of bad writing, the time skip! This is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve seen implemented in the show. I generally don’t like time skips anyway, but at least the one at the end of s3 made sense. The main drama of that season was resolved, and they needed to show the Byers moving away. The time skip this season, however, made 0 fucking sense. The drama hadn’t been resolved, it just skipped like half of the climax and the entirety of the falling action, and went straight to the resolution (which wasn’t even a resolution at all). 2 days is a pretty big time skip to implement after skipping half the climax. What happened during those two days??? It was confusing as fuck, and none of the characters actions/behaviour during the “resolution” phase of the story made sense, maybe with the exception of Dustin and Lucas, who were shown to be grieving unlike almost everyone else. You’re telling me that Nancy, Robin and Steve just fought fucking Vecna, almost died, and some of their friends did die (if you count Max) and two days later they’re happily packing up a bunch of old belongings to donate, without a care in the world? And during that scene, there seemed to be little to no concern about Mike’s whereabouts from the entire Wheeler family until he actually showed up. They mentioned they’d been trying to contact them for days, but nothing about their demeanour beforehand implied concern.
The monologue. Need I even say more? It was cheesy, cringey, and made no narrative sense. The reasoning Mike gave for being unable to tell El he loved her was one of the stupidest reasons I’ve seen in media, ever. Where was the “amazing monologue” we were promised by the Duffers? That sure as hell isn’t what I’d call amazing. Finn is a great actor, and he’s done amazing monologues before (*cough cough*, the shed scene) so that isn’t on him, it’s on the shitty script. “I feel like my life first started when I met you in the woods”? Bullshit, and such a cruel thing to say in front of Will, who’s life was literally turned upside down on the exact same day. “I loved you since the moment I saw you”? Love at first sight is a cringey trope. Mike was 12 when he first met Eleven. He probably didn’t even know the meaning of love, especially when you take a look at how dysfunctional his parents marriage is/Nancy, his older sisters relationship at the time was. Also, how can he say he loved her the moment he saw her when he spent most of s1 trying to get rid of her (saying he was going to send her back to pennhurst) and calling her a “weapon”? El could’ve found strength to beat Vecna in something far more significant than a teenage boy telling her he loves her, but noooo.
Will’s painting. I really feel like I don’t have to elaborate on this one. It just fucking sucked. They built it up like it was going to be some really important declaration of love from Will to Mike, only to have it be used to help further Mileven. Also the actual painting was ass, and all the fan theories about it were way better and more meaningful. (Like the idea we all had of the swingset where Mike and Will first met, or even just a painting of the two of them as their D&D characters, but SEPERATE from the rest of the group so it was actually obvious what the painting meant.)
The upside down thing with Henry?? I don’t even know what’s going on there. It was super confusing. Is the mind flayer actually Henry? Did El create the upside down or was it there before? Why did it look like that when Henry first got sent there, but looks like Hawkins now? I know they’ll likely answer these questions next season, but there’s just too many questions and knowing now how shit the duffers are at writing, I doubt they’ll all be answered satisfactorily.
The terrible character development. By that, I mean that there was none. Literally no characters had any development. They were all exactly the same as they were at the start of the season. El is still dependent on Mike/isn’t her own person. Mike is still a fucking asshole who treats his friends like shit. Will is still in the closet and hiding his true feelings from everyone around him. Nancy and Jonathan are still lying to each other. Steve is still pining after Nancy. Robin is still pining after Vickie. I could go on and on.
The Duffers hate minorities + poor people. Will and Robin, the two queer characters, don’t get well rounded love interests like all of the straight characters, and Will in particular is made to suffer constantly. Lucas and Erica, the two black characters, are both physically assaulted. Max and Eddie, the two poorest characters, who are living in a trailer park, fucking die. (from @hellfireds) Oh, also? The Duffers filmed parts of s4 in a fucking Nazi prison, where Jewish people were held against their wills and killed. (from @artmuseumsandoldbooks)
I’m going to keep updating this list as I think of more things that are wrong with vol 2. There’s already so many things I could add if I decided to include the shit wrong with vol 1 as well, but vol 2 was significantly worse so I’m just gonna stick to that. Feel free to suggest anything else I should add to the list
In conclusion, FUCK THE DUFFERS

I just find it so interesting how Buck and Eddie have these two defined ‘romantic/personal’ arcs this season where they’re both posing questions about happiness and the future. Questions where it’s becoming increasingly clear that they are each others answer.
Buck starts the season searching for the secret to happiness and wanting to pick the right couch to him then saying ‘I’m the guy with the answers’ whilst smiling at Eddie and Chris like a love sick fool, and him falling asleep instantly on Eddie’s couch and even out loud staying ‘how did I fall asleep so fast?’ Buck wanting to feel wanted and needed and loved , in a way that the Diaz family already treat him, if he’d just open his eyes and realise it.
Eddie asking his Abuela what his future holds, this facial expression he had when he was considering Carla’s words about ‘sometimes the fantasy is better than the reality’ (and then the scene cutting to Buck lmao), and now in the latest ep Pepa telling him that she doesn’t want him to be alone and him saying ‘me either’ after showing in last weeks episode (but also throughout the season) how involved Buck is in his and Chris’s lives in both the domestic setting (homework/baking) but also romantic (the two of them dressing up for essentially a date). And Eddie really finally putting into perspective the thought of ‘alone’ because he never really felt like he was because he has Buck- he too finally opening his eyes to how he has him in every way but the one that he wants.
It’s just so interesting to me how they’re approaching this and why I’m almost certain that we’ll get a feelings confirmation/realisation from both parties or even some kind of canon at the end of the season because shows don’t just leave season long personal arcs on a cliffhanger like this- especially a show like 911 that likes to end the season with things wrapped up and often gets their couples together in a season finale. As well as giving them big milestones there. (Bathena first date s1, Madney together s2/Bathena wedding, Madney pregnancy s3, Buddie will reveal s4, Henren vow renewal s5).
I just feel very optimistic rn and am excited to see how this plays out.

What movies would you recommend for good examples of period costumes?
Ok since I could talk for literally hours about this I’m going to stick to periods that are show adjacent or relevant otherwise I’ll be here all day.
18th century (Lestat’s time):
Barry Lyndon (1975) - takes place in the 1760s throughout Europe so a little before Lestat’s time but honestly fashion changed very slowly back then so it’s pretty much the vibe we’re gonna see in s3 I believe. I think this is essential to understanding the period’s masculinity as it features mostly men and is also not about romance. You also get to see class differences in men’s dress as the character starts off in a very different social position from where he ends up. I also think Sam in his Lestat get up from set leaks looks sooo much like Ryan O’Neal in this movie I think it will be a major inspiration.
Dangerous Liaisons (1988) - this is pretty much smack dab in the middle of Lestat’s human life (pre-revolutionary) and it’s one of the few romantic dramas that actually allows its leading men to look period accurate cause somehow Hollywood decided calves and stockings were too gay for their leading men who usually show up to dinner parties in riding gear which would NEVER happen. Anyways I also think the character of Valmont is probably another big Lestat influence.
I also think movies like Amadeus (1984) and The Favourite (2018) are helpful in establishing to viewers that men did look ridiculous back then with big ass wigs and face caked full of makeup and it was not considered gay or unmanly!!
Gilded Age / Edwardian and beyond (Louis’s time):
The Age of Innocence (1993) - takes place in the 1870s so again a bit before Louis but I think now it’s important to establish that fashion trends are moving a bit faster as you’ll see a few decades later the big ass bustle look is no longer on trend but this is just a beautiful film to look at if you want a good intro to film costuming.
The trio of Merchant-Ivory’s EM Forster adaptations: A Room with a View, Maurice and Howard’s End are nice examples of early 20th century wear and again you finally get to see more class differences in dress. Also great references for men’s wear.
Daughters of the Dust (1991) - this takes place in Georgia around 1902 so getting quite close to the start of the show and it has absolutely gorgeous design like it’s the women’s silhouette so spot on. Good reference for the costumes on black women in the show. Also I think this is one case where the flowy down do’s hair in a period film isn’t anachronistic cause of the specific story they’re telling otherwise I’m usually like why are you an adult woman walking around outside with your hair down.
Passing (2021) - takes place in 1920s New York and features really lovely b&w cinematography and costuming wise it’s a really beautiful representation of upper middle class black families of the time and also has very interesting contrasts with the white upper class. Amazing book too, I highly recommend both.
For periods beyond 1930 I actually recommend just watching films from that era cause they give a more accurate representation of what was fashionable then not filtered through today’s beauty standards. For example the thin penciled eyebrow is almost never seen in modern period films cause no actress wants to shave off their eyebrows 💀 and their hair is almost always too long cause they don’t wanna chop off their hair.
Here are some good fashion recs of 30s-40s:
Trouble in Paradise (1932), It Happened One Night (1934), The Awful Truth (1937), Imitation of Life (1934), Notorious (1946), Mildred Pierce (1945), Gilda (1946), Orphee (1949), and a bunch others you can ask me for recs based on more specific criteria and I’d be happy to provide!
Also a film that’s a bit past the show’s timeline is Paris Blues (1961) starring Sidney Poitier and Paul Newman that’s also about American expats in Paris and it’s very good, everyone watch it.

treat it as a prompt to spread your food motifs thoughts, would love to hear some (especially after finale)
ty for askinggg <333
4x10, as told through food:
Caribbean Air Clear was a big win for caroline ed truthers. caroline’s food stuff has always been a stand-in for her failure to parent— she is either resentful of having to, or unable to, nourish them; she gives food in paltry amounts because that’s how she parcels out affection. and the kids find what she does give them inedible. at the Peter Munion Pitch Dinner, she announces that the portions are going to be small, and the only thing that looks like palatable food in her kitchen (the cheese) is reserved for peter— a person she actually chose to put in her life and seems to be happy with.
in contrast to logan, who tested and punished them around food, i read caroline’s inability to nourish them as more unintentional— she just can’t do it because she feels so much bitterness about her family. i also think there’s gender stuff in there— she's not Womanly bc she can’t cook (or, more likely, have someone else cook) properly, she’s like if the wire mother didn’t even give milk. in some ways, she’s sort of girlish rather than womanly (expressing in chiantishire that she wants to like have fun and drink and fuck and gossip rather than settle into being an older woman who’s best days are behind her. and she gets along best with her girliest kid, roman.) it always makes me feel crazyinsane that the one moment In The Light that roman seems to have gotten is laughing with logan about caroline’s inability to feed them (“three muddy trout for six and fill up on mustard”) those kids had no chance to be fed emotionally or physically lol </3
meal fit for a king! lets talk about it. it is, first of all and foremost, sweet! it’s a time when food is being used playfully and you’re expected to eat rather than expected to abstain. but theres also such a dark side to it imo, as with all affection for the roys. 1. shiv spits in the blender (in a mirror of when she spit in kens notebook in s3) which is meant to be at least a little bit degrading 2. the whole point is kind of degrading (the name sounds like something logan would do — see boar on the floor, dinner for winners and mole in the hole from the script books) make kendall eat something disgusting, not as a test per se, but as a way of humbling him just a little. food is still lowkey a weapon even when it’s sweet and silly. (also theres some kendall jesus motif— roman crowns him but in a way that’s mocking etc) 3. it’s sweet specifically because the foods are a) unwanted— the roy kids have been starved, of affection and literally of food, and they’re making something genuinely nice with scraps and b) not luxurious— it’s not ortolan or kendalls endive salad, it’s bread ends and cocoa powder.
there was an interesting moment that mirrored my 4x08 food lore thoughts— ken offers roman rum punch when he’s still trying to woo his board vote against shiv, and roman ignores the punch, pours himself a shot, then grabs a beer. kendall is the one who locked him in a cage and made him eat cake, he’s the reason they had to eat roast chicken, roman experiences his brother as always trying to subordinate him by controlling what he consumes (which is obv a corollary to trying to control him in business.)
on the less thematic/more personally self-serving ed headcanon side of things, nothing has contradicted my hc that roman hasn’t eaten solid food since logan died. all he does is lick Peter’s Special Cheese, drink coffee (sleep deprivation won succession, actually), and drink alcohol. we see roman eat cake at connors rehearsal dinner, pre-logan death and during what he thought was a secure time in the sibling alliance, then never again. his habit of snacking on little bits of fruit and desserts has totally disappeared. tho it's not shown, i could see him eating the night of the election when he realized he won at something and was expecting to crush it at the funeral the next day. if hes becoming logan, hes allowed to eat. but the second he flames out at the funeral and realizes he is, in fact, still a dead man walking, he’d go back to not eating. trying to please the dad in his head, or to express his essential deadness/emptiness without his dad.
ofc, we don't rlly see the other siblings eat, either (i have laser-focused Roman ED vision so something might have slipped past me. does shiv taste the breakfast tom brings her?) notably, no one ate at the Funeral Planning Committee breakfast, they don’t eat at the tailgate im p sure, i don’t think anyone touched the food at the Munion Pitch Dinner. (tbh concerned for shiv’s fetus re: having adequate calories.) i think part of it is grief and part of it is collective family Disorder and part of it is the good old competitive strong dog weak dog stuff.
i made a joke that roman is going to end up like caroline, but i kind of meant it? i can see him having no food in his house, cocktail in hand, snugly burying himself some place out of the way and fucking around with mild self-destruction for the rest of his life. (altho rather than a failhusband i think he’d try to replace logan yet again and end up with a partner who was pretty brutish or domineering)
ty again!

i really think shiv is going to serve tom divorce papers and initiate divorce proceedings (whether they get divorced is anyone’s guess but i don’t think they will).
so first - idk who is wearing their rings at what time. but i think it means something different to both of them. after s3 i think shiv won’t want to think about tom or her marriage or anything to do with the betrayal. i think she’ll keep her ring on because she just doesn’t want to be asked about it, talk about it, or deal with it. she has other things to do. like destroy tom and logan. tom will take his ring off because he’s been kicked out or she’s told him they need time apart. but - importantly - he takes it off thinking he’ll put it back on when they sort it out. and she leaves it on with the intention of taking it off when she can deal with everything that entails. they’re on two different pages imo.
HENCE i think tom is going to be shocked when shiv files. because in his mind - they were going to work through it. he doesn’t see his betrayal as a big betrayal. he sees it as business (or at least he tells himself he does). he’s trying to take the logan pov. and he thinks shiv must understand that. because shiv and the rest of the roy sibs have accepted that kind of backstabbing from logan all their lives. so he thinks she’s going to forgive him bc that’s just the way it works in the roy family. but tom doesn’t realise that the key to logan’s influence is that he’s god in waystar royco. he calls the shots. he’s untouchable (or at least. he was). so the kids accepted him bulldozing them not because they “understood” but because there wasn’t an option not to. but their resentment at that treatment has festered for years. so when someone like tom comes around and tries to do that to shiv. she’s not going to react the same way. she doesn’t have to put up with it so she won’t. she can ruin tom in a way she could never ruin logan. and she can divorce tom in a way she can’t divorce her father. shiv has power in her relationship with tom. a power she doesn’t have in her relationship with logan.
now i think tomshiv do love each other so whether they stay together in their toxic failmarriage is up in the air for me. i think it mostly depends on whether tom turns on logan in the end. logan rn is thinking tom is as safe as shiv thought he was when she married him. but when tom starts feeling insecure or threatened - when he starts to think maybe team logan isn’t the winning team - he’ll flip. and i think logan will expect it about as much as shiv did. or perhaps he will expect it and he’ll ruin tom for her. either way, i will be seated

Theory that Klaus was trained in hand-to hand combat like the rest of his siblings but chooses to fight Like That.
S1: Bar fight? Headbutt some asshole in the schnauz and jump on his back. Defending Luther in the club? Get behind his opponent and jump on his back. And I’m dying because this is how I fight with my siblings who can easily overpower me. It’s the barnacle defense. You can’t hit me/throw me if I’m stuck to your back like a barnacle. Which you know, works until they resolve to use their own body weight against you. ((And that’s when you bite them.)) Then there’s the gunfight in the bowling alley, and for the first time Klaus doesn’t do the barnacle, but he keeps his distance and throws a CAKE in self-defense.
S2: So, in this season, Klaus gets off pretty easy. He avoids another bar fight by escaping in some dude’s truck. He’s never confronted by the Swedes, like literally everyone else. He’s never confronted by Lila. (He does get sucker-punched by a child, but what are you going to do? Fight a kid?) The only physical altercation he has is with Ben, and omg, was that a BLAST to watch. Obviously, neither wants to REALLY hurt the other, but they’re both super frustrated, so they just. Roll around in the road slapping each other. Again, super relatable if that’s how you and your siblings do. Like, I just turned 30 and still get into this kind of shit with my brothers. (sisters not so much)
S3: Again, Klaus engages in almost no combat, unless it’s with his own immediate family, and I love that. In the first episode, he’s goes for a hug and gets sucker-punched by Sparrow Ben. You’d think Klaus would have some training re: how to take a punch, but he flops around like a Slinky. Then his giant monkey brother is thrown at him, and at that point, he’s just, 100% done. Tapping out. Even Viktor, with 0 hand-to-hand combat trainings, stands his ground. But Klaus is all “peace and love, peace and love,” and Marcus and Luther actually STOP to let him get through. The only physical altercation that Klaus engages in is with Luther in the Void. And this is CLASSIC sibling behavior. Obviously, he can’t fight Luther like he fought Ghost Ben in S2. Luther is too big and too strong. So Klaus defaults to taunting and evasive maneuvers. Then in the bounce house, when Luther has Klaus cornered, Klaus HISSES like a cat and makes claws with his hands. Like WTF? This is SO ineffective and SO socially inappropriate, UNLESS you’re play-fighting with someone you know. I LOVE IT.
Conclusion: Klaus fights with a “I’m very bad at this but I have to do something,” mentality. whether it’s a life or death situation, or he’s just messing around with his brothers. It reminds me so much of my own family. For reference, I’m a grown-ass adult with two younger brothers and four younger sisters, all of whom outgrew me at some point. Most of my sisters were about ending fights as quickly as possible via Indian burns, pinching, scratching, spitting, and flailing. One of my brothers has zero offensive instincts and is literally a punching bag. My last brother is the biggest and strongest of my siblings and will engage in combat for extended periods of time. Barnacle or turtle defense is my default, but one time (inspired by S1 Klaus) I went in for a headbutt and nailed my bro just below the ribs. Super fucking effective btw.

Katie Mcgrath on filming Merlin s3
KM: It’s a bit weird and it’s like a bit of going back to school and seeing all your mates again. I’m glad there is something very comforting, and very almost relaxing about a third year. I mean, People have said, very nicely you guys, that there ehmm is a sense of confidence in the show that has been recommissioned. And you got a sense of swagger in your walk and coming back to third season when it’s frankly been more successful than any of us could ever have thought. And you do have a different sort of stature and a different sort of feeling. And it’s nice to come back and see everyone again.
Q: And last time we saw Morgana she had been swept away so can you tell us how you get back here?
KM: Oh can I? Can I? Can I? I don’t want to spoil it for you guys but needless to say the third season opens and a year has passed. Morgana is found at ehmm the start of episode one and it’s discovered that she has been duped by Morgause and she’s very apologetic and sees the error of her ways and things like that. She apologizes to everyone but the question is of Merlin doesn’t completely trust her, whether what’s she’s saying is true and you don’t quite know whether which way it’s going to go. So you know it’s typical “Merlin.” It’s the legend but it’s never the way that you think it’s going to be. So prepare for suprises.
Q: I think the third series is darker.
KM: You know and I think you could see that from the second series in the way that was going. Definitely the last three episodes were much much darker. The third series follows on from that. And it’s quite a bit of, sort of, Yeah it’s dark and has more conflict but at the same time it still does those great sort of one episode funny family comedy episode like you have with the troll last year and things like that, it still continues in that vein. But There’s also a more of a sense of a feeling of a continuous storyline this time which is nice as well. So yeah we’re gonna wait and see.
Q: Will we see more of Morgana’s magical element coming out?
KM: I hope so. I’m telling you I cannot wait for the bit where you know, Merlin and Morgana having that big magical battle. But I’m not sure how soon the way that is because you see in season 2, she’s not in full control and I think that is going to be a while in coming.
KM: Obviously the main magical being in the show is Merlin. He’s the one who has the ability and the control of it. Morgana’s magic is very different, it’s far more linked to her emotions. And once she gets her emotions, and her fears and everything like that under control, I think that her magic will follow. So I think she has to become more assured of what she is before she is able to do that.
Q: What’s Morgana’s relationship with Merlin like right now, considering what happened in the last series?
KM: I think at the start of season 3 she honestly understands why he did what he did ehm and she was anxious to repair their relationship back to the way they were. Because at the end of the day Merlin was the one who understood her and who knew the truth about her and emphathised with her and I think you see in episode one, her... her trying to get back to that. So...
Q: Do you think he trusts her?
KM: I think he’s resolute to trust her because she is apologetic and he does I think want to believe her but, you know, experiences taught him to be wary. Quite like you(the interviewer) sound.
Q: What kind of creatures and enemies will we be seeing in this series?
KM: Ehmm, The first couple of episodes are actually, they’re more, the villains are more people rather than magical monsters which is actually quite nice! It’s a difference and ehmm. So with have the very lovely Milly Fox as Morgause who is coming back and she has a partner in crime being played by Tom Ellis, fantastically actually! Head-to-toe in leather which is interesting. Ehm and I think that might be a sort of a triangle that you might see more of as the season goes on. Ehm and definitely the Morgana/Morgause relationship is a very important one for Merlin and our telling of the story so hopefully she’ll be back.
KM: And then we have Mark Williams, playing a goblin, voicing a goblin in one of the episodes, which we had a readthrough. He was hilarious, I swear, in stitches... So we got some good ones, you know? You never think! Coz in the first season, it was the little show, it was this tiny little show that was filmed down in Cardiff. It was about magic and nobody really knew and it just keeps getting bigger and the caliber of people we get coming in, you know, at the start of every read through they sort of let us know, and we just hang there open-mouthed. Coz were on to, sort of I’m not gonna tell you, give you away any of them.. We’re onto about the ninth episode and the guest stars are getting better and better and shockingly so. So...
Q: What else do you think the series holds for Morgana?
KM: What else does it hold? More power, one can only hope. Fingers crossed. Thing is, We don’t actually know. When we get the scripts, it as much as a surprise to us as it is to anyone else. And the producers keep quiet, you know, quite quiet about what they have coming up more often than not coz sometimes the script works and sometimes it doesn’t so they don’t tell us what’s coming up because, you know, in case we get attached to something that doesn’t happen. And as well it gives you that element of surprise. It gets the end of filming a [block?] and you know everyone’s going “what do you think is going to happen?” so it- it keeps everything fresher for you so I have actually have no idea what’s going to happen to morgana at the end of season 3 because “Merlin” is never the way that you expect! I know I keep coming back to this but it’s always something out of left field so as much as I’m waiting I’m sure you are too.

The Butcher
Lonnie Barker has met hundreds if not thousands of people in his lifetime, but this little chiclet is somethin' else.
A/N: Y'all...This all started with me giving the butcher in S3 an accent in my head. Then suddenly he had a family and owned a business and was incredibly invested in my MC's relationships because she's too sweet for all of those boys.
Characters: Lonnie Barker, Priscilla Barker, Annabelle Barker (mentioned), MC!Delphi, demon brothers (all but Levi mentioned), Solomon, Simeon, Luke (platonic only)
Relationships (implied): Lucifer x Delphi, Asmo x Delphi, Simeon x Delphi
Word count: 1.7k
Lonnie Barker has been working the butcher's stall at the market for nearly twenty years now. He took over for his daddy, who took it over from his daddy before him. Four generations of Barkers, now, have used these very machines to cut meat, case sausages, grind burger, and whatever else needs done, and Lonnie thought that he'd seen it all. But then those boys had come to town.
If he's figuring right, there's seven of ‘em total. And they seem to somehow all be related, though for the life of him, Lonnie can't figure out how. None of ‘em look alike. And most of ‘em act like they hate each other. They’re excellent customers, though.
The first time any of ‘em come to the shop, they nearly buy him out. He doesn’t pay ‘em much mind after that. They come in about once a day to pick up something or other, always polite but usually bickering about something. It only takes a few days for him to gather that they’re all living together and that they’re foreign. And after about a week, he thinks he has ‘em just about figured out.
Then she shows up.
Compared to the boys she’s a tiny little thing, maybe only as tall as Annabelle, with shoulder-length pink curls and bright violet eyes that laugh when they talk to her. The first one she comes in with calls her Delphi. He’s the big one, the one everyone calls “Beel.” Lonnie assumes they’re dating, and when Beel says they’re celebrating their first night living together, well that solves that. The two buy five whole chickens from him and are on their way to the vegetable stalls next.
The next time Lonnie sees Delphi, she’s with yet another man, one that he’s sure he’s never seen before. He has white hair and gray eyes and wears a mess of silver necklaces that Lonnie can’t believe aren’t a tangled mess. He still dwarfs the poor girl, but she glares up at this one with an annoyed look, her arms crossed and her foot tapping as he talks. Lonnie hears her call this one Solomon, and judging by the way she talks to him, she doesn’t like him very much. They don’t visit the butcher that day, but it’s just as well. Lonnie doesn’t want to get in the middle of that.
Delphi becomes one of his most regular customers over the next few weeks. She’s almost always with someone different, but there’s a few that Lonnie sees her with regularly. There’s the two with eyes that almost match hers, the big one, Beel, and the smaller one that Prissy calls “Mr. Emo.” She’s always laughing and joking with those two: taking things out of Beel’s hands before they end up in his mouth, ruffling the other one’s hair and teasing him. Lonnie enjoys seeing them together because she looks like she’s having so much fun.
Then there’s the little one with the curly hair. He thinks Delphi introduced him as Asmo one time. Those two are always joined at the hip, walking arm in arm or hand in hand. They whisper to each other, pointing things out and grinning like anything. Her eyes twinkle and her cheeks are red when she’s with that one. Lonnie isn’t sure how to feel about it.
The other one she’s with regularly is tall with black hair that’s graying at the ends and red eyes. He’s at least a foot taller than Delphi, if not more, and the way he moves reminds Lonnie of the vampires in those old movies that Prissy loves so much. But he looks at that little chiclet like she hung the moon and the stars, and she looks at him the same way. Lonnie recognizes it as the was he and Prissy look at each other and it makes his heart ache. He has to look away one day, when he sees the man bend to pull her into a kiss, because it’s too intimate a moment for Lonnie to intrude on.
🐔
It’s a Wednesday when Delphi comes in with the gray-eyed man, Solomon he thinks, asking after chicken bones of all things.
“Sure, I’ve got some,” Lonnie replies, scratching his head in confusion. “But I don’t think I have near enough for what you’re wantin’, Miss Delphi.”
Delphi smiles at him, her violet eyes sparkling. “That’s okay, Lonnie! I’ll take whatever you’ve got. And if you don’t mind saving them for me from now on, I’d really appreciate it.”
The butcher smiles warmly at his favorite customer, little enigma that she is. “You bet, Miss Delphi.”
“Thanks, Lonnie,” she replies with a giggle. “Hey, how are Prissy and Anna doing?”
“They’re doing alright,” Lonnie sighs, slumping.
Delphi frowns at him, her violet eyes piercing. “That doesn’t sound like they’re doing alright.”
Lonnie shrugs his massive shoulders. “Anna’s got the flu and Prissy’s been home with her the past few days. They’re both goin’ a little stir crazy. And Anna’s upset that she probably won’t be able to go to the market this weekend.”
The smile Delphi gives him now is pitying. She digs around in one of her shopping bags and pulls out two jars of some kind of tea, it looks like. Lonnie isn’t sure what exactly they are. She takes out a small canvas sachet and a gold spoon, too, then starts scooping the stuff into the sachet. Three spoonfuls of each. After she’s done, she ties it closed and hands it to him with a smile.
“Have her drink at least half a cup of this twice a day. A whole cup would be better, but it can be bitter, so I understand if she can’t get it all down. You can sweeten it with some of Prissy’s honey if you need. But a few days of drinking this tea and she should feel right as rain by the farmer’s market.”
“Well thank ya, Miss Delphi,” the butcher responds, his eyebrows shooting up. “I’ll give this to Prissy to give to Anna. Will we see you at the farmer’s market this weekend?”
“God willin’ and the creek don’t rise,” she replies with a grin and a wink. Delphi packs her chicken bones away into one of her shopping bags and turns to go. Over her shoulder, she calls, “You let me know if that tea doesn’t help by Friday afternoon! I’ll come over and see to Anna myself!”
“Okay, Miss Delphi! Y’all have a good day!” He waves as the two leave his shop, the man whispering something to Delphi while she just rolls her eyes.
Lonnie does as he promised, gives the tea to Prissy to give to Anna. By the next morning, Anna’s fever’d broke. And by Friday, she was well enough to visit the market with Prissy to do the shopping. That day, it isn’t any of the regulars Lonnie sees Delphi with, it’s two new ones. One is dark-skinned with turquoise eyes and a gentle smile, and the other is a blond child only a sliver shorter than Delphi herself. She’s laughing and smiling as the child drags her around by the hand, pointing out anything and everything and the man follows behind them with his groceries. The three almost seem like a little family to Lonnie.
Anna tells him later than night that those two are Luke and Simeon. They apparently own a café in town with a reputation for magic coffee. Lonnie isn’t surprised. Magic sounds about right for anybody in Delphi’s company.
They don’t see her at the farmer’s market that weekend, which disappoints Anna to no end. But Lonnie and Prissy reassure her that Delphi will come back to see her soon, and she seems satisfied with that.
🐮
The next time Lonnie sees her, Delphi is with the entire group of seven, and he isn’t exactly sure how to react. He clears his throat as they all squeeze into the shop, “So, y’all decided to come in one big group today?”
Beel, the big hungry one, replies by ordering a meat pie. Lonnie just shakes his head and chuckles, “I’ll have that ready for ya in a jiffy. Now, I may have asked y’all this before, but…are y’all friends…? Or family…?”
It isn’t any of his business. He knows it isn’t any of his business. But Lonnie’s been wondering since the boys showed up in town, and especially since Delphi started coming along to the market with ‘em. He can see the knowing look in her eyes as she looks up at the tall, black-haired one with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
In his smooth voice, he replies, “Aside from Delphi here, we’re all brothers. Though they can be a bit of an embarrassment at times.”
The one with bright blond hair and green eyes scoffs, “And you aren’t?”
Lonnie nods, “Got it. So then is Miss Delphi your friend, or…?”
The curly-haired one, Asmo, smiles and wraps his arms around the girl’s shoulders, “Well aren’t you Mister Nosy! We’re a couple, of course! Delphi is the love of my life!”
The one with golden skin and white hair rolls his eyes. “Pff, what’re you talkin’ about? Delphi is my servant.”
Mr. Emo yawns, “I thought the story was that we brought Delphi on as a babysitter…”
Delphi only smiles, shaking her head. If Lonnie didn’t know any better, he’d think this was something she heard daily. She looks at him with a soft smile and says simply, “We’re family.”
With a chuckle, the tall one rests a hand on her shoulder and agrees, “Yes, that much is true.”
Lonnie doesn’t miss her resting her cheek on his hand.
Beel nods along, adding, “The seven of us are brothers, and Delphi here is really special to us.”
Oh.
“Well, I’m glad this little chiclet has y’all to look after her,” he says after beat, taking off his gloves to scratch at the back of his neck.
“These guys? Look after me?” Delphi laughs as she pays for the meat pie Beel is happily digging into. “They’d either kill each other or starve without me around. But thanks, Lonnie. I’ll see y’all at the farmer’s market this weekend?”
“We’ll be there.”
“Good,” she replies with a grin. “Give Prissy and Anna my love!”
They’re gone before Lonnie can process what happened.
🐷
That night, as Lonnie is laying in bed, he turns to face his wife and frowns. “I think Delphi’s sleeping with all of them boys.”
He can practically hear her eyes rolling as Prissy replies, “Hell, Lonnie, you just now figurin’ that out? Anna coulda told you that two weeks ago.”

!!The Magnus Archives S3 SPOILERS!!
To start, the spoiler warning, ^ obvy. But if you don't want any spoilers please don’t read. This is a mid to late s5 listeners thoughts, no grantee that this is just s3 spoilers. IM BEING SEREOUS!
You have been warned.
Okay, I’ve had time to think about my recorder theory,(See This post) so you’re gonna get a little deeper dive on that now that I’ve established the base for the idea. Fyi, skip to the 2nd to last paragraph for a shorter version of the long bit.
As I mentioned previously, I believe the recorders are Eye aliened but not affiliated. By this I mean in the way Breekon and Hope are Stranger aliened. If you don’t recall or missed it in MAG 128: Heavy Goods(Transcript) Breekon tells his story. BREEKON: “We started in a plague.” “But with the circus, we were among our own kind at last.” The two have been pretty heavily implied to have never been human. They “stared", probably, during one of the black plague out breaks in Europe. If we assume that they didn’t “come to be” specifically in London and assume they wandered over to London(they might have I cant remember, its been a while since I’ve listened to that episode) then the earliest they could have “started” is somewhere around 1347(the start of the first BIG bubonic plague outbreak in Europe) or later, as the last outbreak ended in 1665. “The last bubonic plague outbreak was the Great Plague of 1665, which resulted in the deaths of 100,000 Londoners in just seven months.” (Source1)(Source2) If we go of of this info even if they “started” at the later date that still makes them OLD, OLD. This isn't a deep dive on those two though so we’re moving on. The point of that, though, was to display how old/long lived these things can be. If we refer back to MAG 111: Family Business(Transcript) GERRY: “I always think it helps to imagine them like colours. The edges bleed together, and you can talk about little differences: “oh, that’s indigo, that’s more lilac”, but they’re both purple.”(tbh I love this explanation of the powers the best) With these things on the table we can get to our point.
I believe the tapes are Eye aligned like Breekon and Hope are Stranger aliened, they feel most comfortable around their respective, chosen, powers but still do things for, and interact with the other powers frequently. Due to the bleeding colors theory we know that no power can truly be separate. I think that the recorders are the ears of all the powers but most fond of, and accessible/accessed, by The Eye. I believe that most of the other powers don’t want to/or care to reach out to the recorders because they see the collection/listening of knowledge an Eye exclusive.
Anyway, that’s what I think. If I do any more “deep dives” like this it will probably be on something else (TMA ofc). Feel free to interact w/ this post however you like. But do share your thoughts and feelings on this idea. Also, if you have any theories I’d love to hear them (they don’t have to be about the recorders). I do know that most of my theory's are wild shots in the dark and based off of throw away lines or evidence but I like to make them any who. <3

Ted Lasso S3 Thoughts!
I want to talk about my overall thoughts on Season 3 before the finale comes out, because I’m sure I’ll have a lot to say about that! So let’s just get right into it. A lot of plot points and storylines felt like 1-off, little set ‘em up knock ‘em down types of things, as opposed to full arcs that carried a clear theme throughout the season. A big part of this is the focus being on such a wide variety of characters, and having to cover so many stories at once. This led to Ted being sidelined a bit? Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a huge part of the show, and had some great moments this season, but there was still a clear shift from previous seasons. In some ways I think this made a lot of sense- the team is becoming more like a family, we’re getting to know everyone and understand their individual stories more. While I like that idea, the lack of consistency when it came to Ted’s screen time was noticeable (he’s kind of the beating heart of the show). Some of the strongest episodes were ones where he was at the forefront. This whole season just felt a little less cohesive, with so many different things going on. Some of the extended arcs, like Colin’s and Nate’s were good, though. And as I’ve seen a number of other people pointing out, it kind of felt like they were just trying to cram as many hot topics into the season as they could, because they couldn’t really afford to focus on that many specific characters having longer arcs (which again, is why many of the characters had 1-2 episode arcs so that the focus could then be shifted to someone else). It starts to seem a bit like they were running out of ideas, so I’m glad they’re ending the show with intention instead of dragging it out. Another part of this issue (something that @king-author pointed out really well), is that we didn’t get to witness a lot of the important, impactful moments (particularly concerning Nate’s storyline). I think this season would’ve been a lot better (not that it was bad, just a bit of a step down), if they had chosen to focus on these bigger storylines and developing particular characters, as opposed to creating a bunch of random problems to keep everyone involved.
One particular storyline I’ve got issues with- I didn’t really see a point to the whole Keeley/Roy/Jack thing? Roy and Keeley’s breakup never really made all that much sense in the first place, but I understand the benefit of having Keeley go solo for a while. But then why bring Jack into the mix? It was pretty clear that Roy and Keeley were going to get back together, and so I didn’t really see any point to their relationship beyond an excuse to give Keeley more screen time (which I think could’ve been used in better ways).
So overall, this season has been kind of hit and miss. Since I talked about some of the misses already, let’s go over some of the hits! This last episode was absolute fantastic, between Roy and Keeley being back together, Ted having impactful tear-jerker moments, and Jamie having a moving arc once again, it felt like old times. Rebecca had some great moments as well recently, particularly her speech and everything with Rupert in Episode 10. She’s such a wonderful character, and that was a fantastic way to end her multi-season arc with Rupert. I also loved Jade! She and Nate have a fantastic dynamic, I really like the impact she’s had on him, she’s just a perfect addition to the show. And I think this goes without saying, but so many of the characters remain totally delightful (Sam, Jamie, Dani, Will, etc). This show is still wildly wholesome, sweet, and entertaining. And judging from the last few episodes, they’re going out strong! I have no doubt that the finale will be fantastic.
Anyways, I didn’t expect this review to be this long! If anyone actually made it this far, thanks for reading, and let me know what you think! Do you agree, and what did you like/dislike about this season?

I'm gonna preface this by saying that I liked S1 and 2 of Picard. They were flawed seasons, yes, but I enjoyed them; I thought its titular character's arcs were interesting, if contrived, and I liked the new characters well enough to really feel their absence in the third season. They were good pieces of Trek, and I appreciate (most of) what they did and tried to do.
I find the third season to be in a similar boat. It isn’t hard to feel sad about losing almost all of the supporting cast of the first two seasons (though over time I’ve grown more forgiving of it). Similarly, it’s also hard not to feel apprehensive about a full-blown TNG reunion (They’re old! What story could you possibly tell?).
Now, though, having seen it… I think S3 is a pretty impressive feat.
I know. Big surprise coming from someone whose icon as of time of posting is Jack. But I like it and I stand by that.
It’s not perfect. There are plot points I don't agree with. I think it stretches out the Jack mystery a couple episodes too long for its own good. I lament how the changelings practically vanish in these last two episodes despite doing all the legwork to make the Borg plot possible. I squint at the way it's so noncommittal towards providing any definitive status about Picard and Beverly and Laris. And I think it goes headlong into luxurious fanservice a bit too much at times, main culprit being the museum scene.
But I like this season and I think it works primarily because on a thematic level, it understands itself really well.
Nowhere is this more evident than in their choice of villain. We have the changelings causing paranoia, and we have the Borg with their parasitic, twisted means of connection, both of them reminders of the sins of the past. And ultimately they're thwarted because the characters choose to open up to each other. Beverly and Picard, Troi and Riker, Ro and Picard, Geordi and Data, Data and Lore, Raffi and Worf, Picard and Jack—over the course of the season all of these permutations of characters open up and meaningfully connect with and learn to trust each other. On a plot level, these heart-to-hearts accomplish one of a myriad of functions (e.g. verifying that the other person isn’t a changeling, reclaiming a positronic matrix, convincing the other to return from an assimilation), but on an emotional one, that’s the way they move on from their pasts.
I'd even argue that it's great follow-through on where S2 leaves Jean-Luc! He sees this brash, roguish son of his, this man who outwardly echoes the young Picard we see in Tapestry and, with the added characterization of Picard S2, carries a similarly fatherless pain, along with the trauma of the Borg inherited by one generation from the last. “I know now I would never have been my father,” Jean-Luc says in the third episode, and he spends the rest of the season trying to prove this right. He chases after Jack. He reaches out, works on becoming a good dad. Patiently, he stays by Jack’s side at the end of it all, and in doing so, they save each other. It borrows a page from a certain other franchise, but I’ll let it slide.
Because I think this season argues that yes, you don’t choose who you’re born into, but loving them is a different matter entirely. All family is chosen family.
Maybe that’s a little too simple for Trek. But I think here, presented cohesively and as a culmination of Jean-Luc’s emotional arc through three seasons, it works. Season 3 of Picard isn’t the perfect conclusion to this show—far from it, what with how vastly different it is from the rest of it—but it’s a tremendous ending for the TNG cast and specifically Picard the character. I’m glad it exists.

what are your thoughts on nancy and her ships? (j*ncy, st*ncy, r*nance, anyone really)
oooooh!!! anon ily because i have many thoughts
1. jancy
right. so i have mixed feelings about jancy. i understand the appeal, but i also think it’s a tad bit overrated.
i really love their dynamic! they work really well together and i absolutely adore them in both season one and especially two.
season three is where it gets a bit iffy for me. i really appreciate the newspaper storyline, the miscommunication in terms of jonathan’s need for the job because he needs to support his family versus the constant disrespect and embarrassment that nancy faces as a woman in journalism. both sides of that disagreement were completely valid, and neither of them were strictly correct. but i have quite a few issues with the resolution of that storyline.
i love nancy, i really do, but i also love jonathan- and i don’t care for the fact that they had him completely abandon his side of the argument, just because she was right. her being right about the rats doesn’t erase the fact that jonathan needed that job, and that nancy was the reason he lost it. i wish they could have both conceded that neither of them were right or wrong in the argument, rather that they were both being nearsighted towards the struggles the other was actively facing.
i feel like in season three, a lot of jonathan’s character was shelved simply to give nancy her girlboss moment, which i really don’t like. i wish they could have balanced that girl power moment with her recognizing her own faults.
then, in season four, the fact that jonathan is actively lying to nancy rubs me the wrong way for their relationship. don’t get me wrong, i understand why he’s doing it! it’s a completely understandable point of view. but it’s leaving me slightly skeptical about the state of their relationship in season five, because nancy thinks their problems have been resolved at the end of the season, meanwhile jonathan still knows that they’re not going to the same college, and that when nancy finds out it’s really going to hurt her.
2. stancy
alright unpopular opinion time- i love stancy. i love stancy so goddamn much.
HOWEVER
stancy died in season 2, and it should stay dead. so much of steve’s personal character arc in season 3 was about getting over nancy, about falling for robin (which obviously didn’t work out), and that plot line really ties into the whole ‘forced conformity’ themes that make stranger things the show it is.
season three was about steve coming to terms with his fading popularity and the fact that real life isn’t like the glamorized version of high school he experienced- and a big part of that was him developing feelings for robin, the dorky band kid, who turns out to be a lesbian, which also plays into steve’s character arc, because of the juxtaposition between s1 steve, who called jonathan a queer, versus s3 steve, who was fully supportive and understanding towards robin.
i think that bringing back steve’s feelings for nancy completely erases all of that development, which is really disappointing.
i understand that first love is a big deal, and that it never really goes away, whether that be the pain of losing it or the feelings themselves. trust me. i know, firsthand. but the fact is that this is a tv show with character arcs- and it’s not fun to see those characters regress back into who they are.
i think that the main reason they chose to do that with stancy in s4 is because as of s3, steve’s character arc was completed. there wasn’t really anywhere else for him to go- which leads to an awkward plot line, because it’s really difficult to come up with something new for an entire season when the plan for that character has been run through. (this is part of the reason i think steve is gonna die in s5. rip steve 😔)
3. ronance
ronance is beautiful, stunning, perfect, i absolutely adore it. the only thing i dislike is that nancy never really apologized for how she treated robin, even after robin chose to be vulnerable and talk about her struggles with social cues as an attempt at a sort of peace treaty with nancy, which nancy completely rejected until robin found the thing about victor creel. but really, that’s just a minor bump, i love romance with my whole entire heart.
also ronance shippers are hot. love y’all.
anyways, yeah. my thoughts on all of nancy’s ships, LMAO

spoilers for season 4 of stranger things; some thoughts i have on stancy, jancy, and steve, nancy and jonathan’s characters in general
okay so i think stancy obviously weren’t right for each other in season 1 and season 2. in season 2 specifically, nancy was clearly growing and changing as a person, and staying with steve meant doing the ‘safe’ thing, but also stifling her growth. steve was adamant about staying the same, wanted to hold on to his status, and his ‘act like you don’t care’ attitude, which is essentially what he wanted nancy to do about barb, lost both him and dustin the girl.
meanwhile, jonathan and nancy are this obvious ‘power couple’, like robin mentions. they’re obviously right for each other, or at least, they were in season 2. tbh a large part of the issue jancy is facing for the viewers is that we’ve never seen them be even a semi functional couple, unlike stancy, but that’s another problem. it’s only hinted at in s4, but they seem to have investigated together for the school’s newspaper. the journalist and the photograph. it writes itself.
but.
but everyone’s changed.
nancy’s had the biggest part of her character growth by s3. not that she’s been stagnating since, but she’s already had a big part of her arc, is what i mean. steve has also grown immensely by then, and in s4, robin mentions the fact that she’s advised him to ‘just be himself’, and he’s been ‘getting girls’ ever since. and that advice would definitely work on nancy, since since s1, she saw through steve’s bullshit — even before the Upside Down happened.
jonathan is... well. i have complicated feelings about him. i loved him in s1, still really liked him in s2 and s3 but... let’s be honest. he definitely didn’t get his time to shine in either of those, and so far, it’s been even worst in s4. it’s not like i don’t understand how he’s feeling here, but him lying to nancy just can’t work. i’m... not even necessarily mad about what happened to his character. look, could the character have had a different growth? yeah, 100%. jonathan had so much potential, i really believe that. but he’s clearly crushed under the responsibility he feels he has towards his family, something that i don’t think joyce has done a good job shielding him from. and sometimes, that kind of responsibilities completely stifles you. it’s a sad result for his character, and i wish the writers had chosen differently, but it’s a choice i can respect.
either way, if jonathan’s the one who’s stuck now (and correct me if i’m wrong, but i don’t think his character’s changed a ton since s1?), like steve was in s2, they might very well be preparing us for another break-up.
now, here’s the thing: i’m not sure what future steve and nancy have together.
a large part of nancy’s character is that she has ambition. she doesn’t want to end up like her mother, like her parents, and it’s clear that she has the potential to do great things. that’s one of the reasons why her and jonathan made so much sense, because they had a clear trajectory they could take together. at first glance, her and steve getting together seems likely to mean that they’ll end up stuck in hawkins, getting a house at the end of the cul-de-sac.
it doesn’t have to be like that, though. if steve’s willing to... i’m not sure, but nancy and steve could be a cool ‘detective duo’ together. not that different from joyce and hopper tbh? steve’s generally chiller than hopper, and nancy more methodic than joyce, but they’re not that different. what’s for certain is that they aren’t the steve and nancy from season 1, and the issues they have then don’t apply anymore. steve isn’t the steve from season 2. they could make it work.
then, if jonathan ‘unstucks’ himself, and the writers choose to give him the opportunity to 1) lose his shit, as he really deserves to do and 2) finally get some time to be heroic, well... we might have an actual love triangle on our hands, guys.
and i don’t think i’ve cared about a single love triangle since high school, but i just might be here for that one.

hi, yes, hello -- have we ever entertained the idea of mike or anna eventually telling kie about how jj coming to talk to them on her behalf (if that's what the jj+carreras scene is about)? now hear me out: i haven't been able to stop thinking about the number of times jj and kie would stand up for the other when the person is totally unaware of it ('we can't do this w/out kie and you know it' 'do you have any idea how special your son is' jj v. rafe at midsummers, etc) 1/?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HELLO GOOD MORNING YES ABSOLUTELY. The way I can picture it perfectly?
I’d love it so much if his talk with the Carreras helps get her out of some sort of trouble or something (boarding school? Some other sort of punishment she’s been dreading?) and she’s expecting the worst and they’re just like “well your friend JJ-“ and then it goes on to them also being more accepting of her and the boys because it helps them realize how much they all love each other. I could so see it leading to a big Jiara scene at a pivotal moment just like you said. And I feel like there is just no way with the blatant parallels between Mike and Anna and Jiara that there won’t be something there. Like some sort of good scenes are coming from that.
One of my greatest wishes for S3 is also for them to realize how much the other defends them and cares for them. With JJ especially I think he misses like all of the special fondness Kie has for him; he definitely thinks she looks out more for the other boys because they’re worth looking after but on kie’s end JJ has never presented himself as someone as available to look after/sort of baby/hover over and that’s why she’s never done it as much with him. But for him I really want her to say to him how much he means to her. That he’s great and so much better than ending up in his shitty family cycle because his reaction to that will put me six feet under!

OKAY HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS I KNOW IM BIASED AND IM NOT LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE BUT BEAR WITH ME (heads up for spoilers obviously):
-I expected for one hour and forty five minutes to get one Cali gang scene at ep7. What a wasted opportunity aldjajdksjdudsjfhsj they could have done so many more things that were relevant to the plot I just really hope will fucking byers gets what he deserves in vol 2 because he literally knows the upside down and survived to it? Everybody names him all the time and yet he’s been reduced to a lovesick baby boy and that is not even well developed alcjakfkjsjdksbd I’m angry
-For me the season was VERY good tho, glad to see they’re back in shape after the disaster that was s3, but also as a byers family fan ofc I’m not fucking happy.
-Clearly as a Jancy shipper I’m not either akdjskfksj this was so FORCED I hated it so much it didn’t make sense at all and I don’t think people are truly going to enjoy it because it truly feels like the writers needed a last minute resort to add adolescent drama and they found no one else and were like HEY let’s bring stancy back that clearly makes sense doesn’t it? I’m scared af for Jancy tho and honestly to me it doesn’t look good for vol 2 because how are they even going to meet again if Jonathan is still like on the other side of the country, help
-BUT I do have to say this and perhaps I’m crazy but I don’t care: I actually loved every single scene Jonathan had. I KNOW it could have been a hundred more scenes instead of wasting time on the fucking basketball players and their stupid plot???? But I think Charlie did a wonderful job with every scene he got and I actually felt incredibly relieved in the sense that Jonathan’s worries about his family and university and his relationship were actually addressed and he openly confronted them (yeah his conversation with Argyle was by far my favorite scene in the season, sue me) I loved that we got once again to see his personal struggles and god we hadn’t gotten that since s1 so I have to say i enjoyed it very much.
-I wish I could say the same thing about Will. I can’t even begin to unwrap everything that’s wrong and all the wasted opportunities about the way this perfect and beautiful character is treated but… yeah, I’m angry about that.
-I very much ship byler lol and I fucking need one honest scene where I can have Jonathan and will talking about it.
-um excuse me? That dinner scene and the next day Joyce is just gone???????????????????? Are you fucking kidding me? We didn’t even get the goodbye???????????????? I’m so angry aldjdjskfjsfjiscjjdkx FUCK
-I don’t think Jonathan only got the role of comedy relief and I’m incredibly relieved about that.
-I don’t GIVE A SHIT about Stancy kajfakcjsj that will not end well just stop it I’m begging you it was weird
-I LOVE the fact Nancy will play a major role in vol 2. I need it and hopefully that will clear her brain and we’ll get some very desired Jancy angst???? Give it to me now
-Argyle was another wasted opportunity Jesus I’m so angry akgjsjfks
-I won’t talk about Russia but I did cry a lot when Hop and Joyce reunited ❤️ at least there’s hope somewhere. Also that scene of hop in prison? His monologue? I loved it and I’m so glad they learned from that awful treatment of his character in s3
-I literally don’t care about anything else I just need the byers and mike of course to play an important role in vol 2 but there’s only two episodes left so I think it won’t happen and I’m like so tired???????
-anyway aside from that I TRULY enjoyed this season and I think it was a huge leap forward from s3. I enjoyed the overall plot, I think it was better thought out for certain that s3, it will never top the iconicness of s2 and s1 for me but it comes close in a sense.
-i truly don’t have predictions nor theories for vol 2 and honestly I’m done predicting because I’m always wrong. I just expect something… anything… for the Byers.
Anyway… had to put my thoughts somewhere.

#7 - Hayley and Klaus ripping apart everyone who came into the compound together because they wanted to hurt Hope…Marcel shaking his head at the mess and making sure Hope doesn’t see. Because He’s #TeamProtectHopesInnocence just like her parents. [ Season 4 based ]
#8 - Haylye telling Klaus she wants to take Hope away from NOLA and she thinks he should go with them. To keep their family together and to make sure Hope doesn’t live the kind of life they’ve had to.  [ Season 4 based ]
Jackson Plots !
#1 - I want a plot where Muse A and Muse B have been married for 15 years (they got married at 16 because Muse A got pregnant) They have 2 kids and are currently going through a divorce. But there are so many feelings still there and they keep falling into the same routine with each other because they’re still in love but they’ve grown into different people. Muse B wants to work things out but Muse A isn’t sure how with how they’ve both changed. [ Semi based on the movie The Story of Us ]

#4 - AU based on Life Unexpected
#5 - Girl gets pregnant and her boyfriend (the love of her life) marries her, but two months into the marriage he decides he doesn’t want the responsibility of a child so he takes off. But his brother who’s been secretly in love with said girl all through along helps her through the pregnancy and once the baby is born. Cut to 2-3 years later and her husband walks back into their lives to find things are a bit different.
#6 - I want a plot where some witchy thing happens and Hayley wakes up to find her daughter gone and not a single person knows who she is. It’s like she never existed - Hope either. And in order to break the spell she needs to get at least 1 person to actually remember who she is.
