Can we talk about abusive friendships for a moment?

Maybe it’s because I’m asexual, and maybe aromantic, but friendships have always been the most important relationships in my life.

But where am I supposed to go when the friend who knows me best in the world reveals they were just using me? Same as everyone else? Where am I supposed to go, when it turns out the friend I trusted with everything has been DARVO’ing me for years and used Reactive Abuse when I tried to stop them? Who’s gonna give a SINGULAR SHIT when someone I’ve shared my HEART with, has only cared about how I made them look all along?

“They were your friend. You’ll make new friends.” Fuck off. No one says that to people in romantic relationships. I’ve bared my SOUL to this person for EIGHT YEARS. And everyone is still like, “yeah but like if, you’d been dating two weeks and they did that to you it’d be an abusive relationship, but they were just your friend.”

Why the fuck don’t non-familial relationships that aren’t romantic matter? Why the fuck can’t I get support when one of the strongest pillars of my support system has crumbled?

And worse? Worse??

Now people are telling me they saw this coming. They saw the warning signs all along but because this person was “just your friend” not a single person told me.

For EIGHT FUCKING YEARS.
