Some late night thoughts before heading to sleep: With Sumeru’s come it’s becoming stranger and stranger to me the fact that Dain isn’t known by literally anyone, or perhaps he is but M.ihoyo conveniently eludes dropping his name despite his big relevance to the story plot. We’ve learned a whole lot about Irminsul, hell, I think that it was even alluded that Khaenri’ah had a certain proximity to Irminsul unless I made that up, my brain is quite mushy with classes. To think that Dain even bears the title of Bough Keeper which most certainly refers to Irminsul and there isn’t a thing about him is just... odd in a way I can't pinpoint out and it does make me consider seriously if Rhukkadevata’s plea “World... forget me” isn’t just some hopeful prayer that she begs that will come true due to the benefits this would most likely bring, but something she knows she can happen but for some reason it doesn’t. By this I mean to say that there might be chances that Dain’s identity is completely concealed with the help of Irminsul and maybe the erasure of his existence from all the Ley Lines for some purpose that might benefit him, I’m not sure.

some athena hairstyles (id under cut)
[id: a digital sketch page with five sketches of athena cykes, colored roughly with a light orange. there is a drawing of her looking straight ahead and smiling with short messy hair. in it, she is wearing her white shirt, tie and widget. there is a drawing of her looking sleepy and mischievous while holding a cup of tea with her hair down. in another sketch, her hair is also down, but it's a side profile drawing, in which she is smiling confidently. in one drawing, she is looking down with tears in her eyes and a bob cut. in the last drawing, athena is shown angry and screaming, with her usual hairstyle - a ponytail. there is also a small sketch of two widgets: one happy and one angry. end of id]

yesterday I put my eclipse glasses on over the top part of my regular glasses so I could look up at the sky through the filters but also look down and still be able to see where I was walking and I said “I’m an anableps anableps!” and no one knew what I was talking about

Silly things about OC between friends: When my friends' OCs want to taste Ivory's tentacles
I posted my student Ivory's design on fb and Lunariel (Noir Lune's OC, from this post) tried to eat the tentacles
And...
So what do we do? Lyah had to call Lunariel's partner to come and pick him up
Then! Alice, Mero's OC (artist of this blog's avatar) wanted to taste Ivory's tentacle too
Then Lyah had to call Alice's partner too
Then they had to collect their girl/boyfriend and settle their "arousal" at their places. We drew a lot of segg ^p^) But I'm not posting those
Hope this post serves as a warning to all the folk out there who want a taste of Ivory's tentacles UwU)! You know what's gonna happen now you had TWO examples right here.

“It is better to know one book intimately than a hundred superficially” (Tartt, 31).
I am absolutely fascinated by the fame and reverence this quote from the Secret History has achieved. It terrifies me. Let me explain.
Who’s line is this? Oh, yes. Professor Julian Morrow. Julian, in his lecture on how death begets beauty, on how Dionysian madness lends immortality. Julian, who isolates the greek class, buries them in the glories of the past and in their privilege, and submerges them beneath illusions until his students can’t tell right from wrong and real from imagined.
These words are satire. This is NOT a lesson any teacher should impart, and should NOT be beloved and relatable. In one sentence, Donna Tartt summarizes the entire cautionary tale of the novel: the selective, warped, and obsessive view on life the greek class held, born from entitlement and cultivated by Julian, led the students to tear themselves to pieces.
What’s more, the way people quote it all the time makes this line all the more haunting. Widespread parroting of Julian’s teachings only reinforces Donna’s themes: human minds are easily manipulatable, it can be hard to think critically about what you are taught and what you read, and that the easy, self-assured conviction belonging to the reader that, “I, personally, would have behaved differently than Henry, Richard, Francis, Camilla, Charles, and Bunny” is nothing but another illusion.
