Garden Song
chapter 2 - motion sickness - garden song.
It’s been two years since the divorce between Julie and Grayson. A lot has changed. Grayson wants Julie more than ever. Will she take him back?
TW: some of the stuff mentioned in this series might trigger some people. please don’t read if you get triggered easily!
“i’m pregnant?”
Julie asked sarah, fear already taking over body. She had definitely done into some sort of shock. Julie placed a hand over her mouth and sat down on the toilet slowly, trying to comprehend this. Sarah had put the pregnancy test in the sink, and bent down in front of her friend.
“Is it graysons?” Sarah asked, no judgement evident in her voice. Julie looked down at her hands and let out a sob and nodded. “Hey, hey. It’s ok, i’m here” Sarah said pulling her into a hug.
“Everything was going ok” Julie paused letting out a breath. “The boys are so happy, Grayson has changed, really he has. He’s such a good dad and he’s been good to me. This baby, fuck, This baby would just ruin everything” Julie said, feeling so guilty. Sarah nodded and ran her fingers through julies curly hair. “We’ve been having sex for a couple weeks. We’ve been acting like we’re married, but it feels so good sarah. I feel so loved and happy” Julie cried pulling out of the hug.
“Why can’t god just let me be happy? Why did he decide that i didn’t deserve it?” Julie asked and sarah’s eyes filled up with tears.
No one deserved to be this sad, sarah thought. Julie is too good for this world, she deserves so much more.
“You’re deserve happiness, julie. Out of everyone i know, you deserve it so so much. Don’t let a man or a baby get in the way of that” Sarah said standing up. “Now, do i need to book an appointment for a scan or an abortion?” she asked and julies eyes widened.
“Sarah, i love you” Julie said and sarah’s eyes softened.
“I love you too, jules”
“But, um i need to tell grayson. He’ll be happy to do whatever i decide i think, but if i’m going ahead with an abortion he deserves to know before i go and it” Julie said and Sarah nodded.
“So you’re not worried about him leaving again?” Sarah asked and julie bit her lip shrugging. “I mean, there’s a part of me that’s preparing myself for it to happen. He’s so unpredictable lately. He may not leave the boys, but i have feeling he might leave me” She said and sarah cleared her throat and grinned.
“Well, you’ll always have me. I’m not going anywhere, whatever your decision is, ok?”
After cleaning herself up a bit, julie opened a bottle of wine for sarah to have. “I’ll drink twice as much for you” Sarah teased, Julie giggled and opened up a diet coke for herself.
Sarah left shortly after leaving julie to her own thoughts. Is this really happening? Would she be able to parent and look after three kids? And as she said, Grayson is unpredictable. The worst kind of unpredictable. She doesn’t know if she’d be able to parent three kids by herself. She’s too tired. Julies always wanted 5 kids when she was younger. Grayson agreed with her, saying they’d have their own little soccer team. They’d have 4 boys and 1 girl. Julie always wanted older brothers to look after her. She’d wonder would this baby have a good life, considering the boys’ life has been a bit rocky.
Is she emotionally and mentally able to have another child? Even to give up for adoption, is Julie able to go through a pregnancy right now? There was too many questions swimming around her brain, and it was overwhelming her. She needed to be calm and collected while talking to grayson. She didn’t want him to leave without having a full conversation.
Fuck, where did everything go wrong. The boys were both dropped home and tucked in no time. Grayson came to collect them early that morning for a boys day. The spend the day out in the park and in a nice restaurant.
“Julie? I’m home!” Grayson called out, the boys tumbling in. “Take off your shoes” Grayson told them hanging up their coats. The boys sat at the end of the stairs taking off their shoes, as told. They lined them up at the end of the stairs, grayson smiled at them.
“Go on and get some chocolate. Don’t tell mama” Grayson teased and the boys squealed running to the kitchen. Grayson walked into the living room to see julie laying on the couch. “Was gonna go out and do the food shop, but if you’re feeling too bad i can stay?” Grayson offered and Julie nodded.
“We can just get take out” Julie said rubbing her stomach, Grayson thought nothing of it. He just thought it was comforting her and helping her through the pain.
“Can we talk later?” Julie asked and Grayson furrowed his brows in confusion, but nodded anyways.
What could julie want to talk about?
“Mama!” Sebastian and Alexander yelled running in and basically sitting on julie. Julie, even as nauseous as she was, put a smile on her face and pulled through for her babies. Graysons face softened and sat down at the edge of the couch smiling at the interactions. The boys climbed all over julie kissing her face repeatedly, enjoying the sound of her laugh (more like cackle). Grayson never wanted this time to end.
He just had a feeling this wasn’t going to last forever.
Julie remembered times like this when grayson wasn’t around. The house was a little blue, but her boys smiling and laughing lit it up. The house was still a little blue, and she had a feeling it was going to stay that colour for a little while longer.
At least she’d always have her boys.
After dinner, the boys went upstairs to watch a movie before bed. They’re new obsession is the harry potter series, weirdly enough they’re actually able to stay away for all three hours that the movie goes on for. Sebastian is more interested than alexander, but they still both love it.
“The boys are upstairs, you want some wine?” Grayson asked pulling out a wine glass for himself. Julie shook her head and grayson smirked. “You never say no to a glass a wine, are you pregnant?” He teased laughing loudly, pulling out another wine glass expecting julie to laugh along too. When he turned around he saw julie about to break down. He could tell she was holding back a sob.
Fuck.
“You’re pregnant?” He asked putting down the glass. He rested his hands on the counter.
It was silent.
“Julie, answer me” Grayson said loudly, making her jump. Grayson sighed and placed a hand over his eyes. Julie cleared her throat. “I’m pregnant, took the test yesterday. I haven’t gone to the doctors yet” Julie said and grayson sighed feeling himself become really angry.
“Are you sure it’s mine?” He asked before he could even think about what he was going to say. Julies eyes widened and let out a bitter laugh. “Grayson i’ve been having sex with you for nearly months. Of course, it’s yours” She let out and grayson nodded.
“It’s just a lot to take in, Jules” He said and Julie nodded.
“I understand that” She said and let out a sob. “Please don’t leave me. I can’t handle being alone again” she cried and grayson sighed and walked around to pull her into a hug.
“I’m here to stay, julie. I’m not leaving again. But i don’t know if i can be a parent to three kids, i don’t know if you’re able to either. We’re really good right now, we’re in an amazing place with the boys. This baby would just ruin things” Grayson said rubbing his hands up her back.
“This baby would ruin us”
Julie pulled back and her brows furrowed. Ruin us? Their relationship?
“What do you mean?” She asked and grayson sighed leaning against the counter. “If you have this baby, it’s the end for us. Whatever this is was never going to last, Julie. We were just having fun. So if you have this baby, i’m not gonna be here for the booty call side of things. I’m a dad only” He said and julie took a step backwards.
“Booty calls?” She asked her eyes widening. “You fucking begged me take you back into my bed. You were practically crying the first time we have sex again” Julie seethed.
“It was never a bit of fun, Grayson” Julie paused looking up at grayson. “At least it wasn’t to me” she said and grayson tried to touch her again, to comfort her. But she shook her head “I don’t know what i’m going to do with the baby yet. But i do know whatever relationship we had before, it’s gone and done” she said. “If i go ahead with the abortion, do not come crawling back. You had your chance” Julie said and began walking of the kitchen.
“Yeah, go ahead just leave” grayson yelled after her. “Like you always do” He mumbled. Julie turned around and glared at him. “Me? Leaving like i always do?” she asked and grayson nodded with a horrible and disgusting look on his face.
“You LEFT me!” Julie yelled pointing at grayson. “You cheated on me, you lied to me, you gaslighted me, you left your sons, you did this all grayson dolan. You LEFT ME!” Julie cried and she was beginning to walk away but she stopped and turned around once more.
“But i guess it’s me that feels stupid now. i gave you another chance, after you fucking destroyed this family” Julie said and turned around to walk out of the kitchen once more. “Lock up when you’re leaving” she mumbled walking upstairs.
The boys were still watching their movie, which was good. She didn’t want them go through this again - so julie would keep this to herself. It’s better for everyone else if grayson and julie just kept their problems to themselves.
She gave a lifetime giving him her heart, and grayson constantly broke it. Constantly.
Julie sighed and sat down on the bed. Her phone dinged, she was guessing it was grayson. Julie picked it up and read the message.
ethan: coming home soon. i hope i’m still welcome in your home. i love you.
oh fuck.
Julie is pregnant, with her ex husbands baby. Her ex husband doesn’t want this baby or her for that matter - her ex boyfriend, that happens to be her ex husbands brother is coming home after breaking her heart in two.
Everything is going great.

Taakitz twilight au but the ipre are the vampires
kravitz moves to forks washington with his mother after she accepts a job offer at the local hospital. she is their new coroner
kravitz loves his mama dearly but man, between her chosen profession and the fact that kravitz is an awkward goth who grew up befriending ravens and listening to mcr, he was basically born to get courted by a vampo!!! death omens abound!!!
also i just googled what coroners actually do (they investigate violent, sudden, or suspicious deaths) and i think it would throw be REALLY SPICY if later kravitz was constantly having a panic attack because every single one of the “mysterious deaths” his mother is looking into are ALL CAUSED BY VAMPOS. she’s not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but also??? she is VERY SUSPICIOUS about all these puncture wounds!!!
raven says, kravitz would you humor your darling mother and start carrying around this canteen of holy water please???
kravitz, actively sweating, thinking about his real life vampire boyfriend chilling upstairs in his bedroom and also the very conspicuous hickies on his neck, says, bbbbut there’s…… nnnnnnnno such, thing? ha ha mmmmmmyyyes mother of course,
I DON’T WANT TO DO A WHOLE OUTLINE FOR A TWILIGHT AU ACTUALLY BUT I DO WANT TO TOUCH ON THE GOOD BITS:
i think it would be really funny if taako and lup were like six hundred years old and grew up as impoverished peasants during the middle ages, and yet they still know more about modern pop culture than actual mortal teen kravitz
kravitz says, taako have you seen this……. “mee-mee?” and shows his boyfriend a picture of an lolcat and taako straight-up double dies
also b/c they perished well before the advent of fast food, or like, refrigeration, the twins are constantly buying and cooking meals for kravitz and demanding to know how it tastes. they are living vicariously through him. tell them about big macs, kravitz!!! describe the UMAMI
i said it before but it bears repeating, merle is the hot doctor that everyone in town is in love with. merle is taako’s hot dad. merle introduces himself to kravitz as taako’s hot dad. taako hates this
other bits that are not about taakitz
taako has a complex because a few decades ago he lost control of himself, murdered like forty people because he was so dang bloodthirsty, and he and his family had to flee the town of glamour springs
(little does he know that it was a set-up: local teenage douchebag sazed had grown suspicious of taako and wanted to “out” his vampirism so that he could then use the story to make it big as the guy who “discovered” vampos for realsies.
he waited until taako’s eyes were dark with hunger, nicked himself with a knife in home ec, drew blood, and - well, the rest is history.
fortunately, so is sazed!!!
sazed thought he had done his research. alas. he did not. thirty cloves of garlic got nothin’ on twilight’s nigh-indestructible brand of vampirism
no jacob-equivalent in MY twilight au but julia is a werewolf, so we can have a little enemies to lovers romance, as a treat
WAIT ONE MORE
instead of a terrible pregnancy arc:
after kravitz gets turned, he has to lie low for a while his bloodlust cools. during this time angus mcdonald (boy detective) decides to start investigating kravitz’s  “disappearance” - and much to taako’s dismay, he is angus’s main suspect, oh my
taako would like this small child to stop stalking him please
but also he misses cooking for kravitz so whenever angus decides to stake out his house, taako makes him dinner
eventually when angus inevitably discovers the vampo secret, taako panics and kidnaps (adopts???) him, by which i mean, he holds angus hostage in the house and demands that he try these cupcakes
when the hunger comes to make a routine checkup on kravitz (because he’s a newborn), they discover angus’s existence, decide he knows too much, and everyone has to band together to DEFEND THEIR BOY!!!
the hunger is a really on the nose name for a group of bloodthirsty vampires whose sole concern is consumption and the destruction of the mortals’ way of life… and yet

-
“Girls!” Cady calls from the kitchen. Her twins both come barreling down the stairs to find her.
“Yeah, Mama?” Layla asks, panting slightly.
“Uncle D is going to watch you tonight, your mom and I have a-“ Cady replies.
“Date night, we know, Mama. It’s Saturday,” Leo finishes. Cady chuckles.
“We are pretty predictable, aren’t we?” She hums. “We’ll drop you off around five and be back to get you by eleven.”
“Ooh, late night,” Layla teases. Cady rolls her eyes.
“You know what we get up to,” she huffs. “Your boring old mothers.”
“Mom told us about the time she stole a sheep when you were in high school,” Leo pipes up. “What happened to that?”
“We happened,” Cady laughs. “She grew up and settled down.”
Janis comes in then, paintbrush behind her ear and carrying a mug. “Hey, gang. What are we talking about?”
“You,” Layla teases. “And how you’re old and boring now.”
“Ah,” Janis says with a knowing nod. She takes a drink of whatever’s in her mug. “Oh, that’s the paint water, what-ugh!”
“Jay,” Cady huffs around a laugh. “Maybe you haven’t settled down. Why do you never look at things before you drink them?”
“I like to live on the edge,” Janis responds, wiping her tongue off on a paper towel.
“We’re in our forties now, you should probably step back from that edge,” Cady giggles as she hands her some juice to rinse the taste from her mouth. “Goofy.”
Janis thankfully takes the offered beverage and chugs it, then wraps her wife in a hug. “Thank you.”
“Of course, my love,” Cady chuckles, turning around and pulling her wife in for a kiss. The twins both exclaim in disgust and run back upstairs. “You still taste like paint, go brush your teeth.”
“Okay,” Janis pouts.
————-
“Layla! Leo!” The twins’ cousin, Milly, yells as she runs to greet them.
“Let them breathe, Mills,” Damian chides gently as his nieces are squished in a tight hug by his youngest child. Milly moves onto her aunties, so Damian takes his turn to tackle the twins.
“Hey, Uncle D,” Leo says, sounding a little choked as she’s wrapped in a tight hug. It’s what they’ve come to expect after thirteen years of knowing him. Janis eventually pries him off her daughters for her turn, and Cady joins in.
Layla and Leo head into the living room as Milly drags them along. Aaron is there playing a video game with his son, Ellis.
“Ellie!” Layla yells teasingly, running to tackle her cousin. Ellis has roughly four seconds to scramble to put his controller down and get into a safe position before she lands on him with a dull thud.
“I hate you so much,” he grumbles. “Hey.”
“Whatcha playing?” Layla asks, yelping as Leo drags her off to allow her cousin some personal space.
“Fifa,” Ellis says once he’s got his hair back to its properly ruffled state.
“Ooh, can I play?” Layla asks. Aaron hands his controller over. “Hehe. I’m gonna kick your ass.”
“Hey!” Cady and Janis both call at the same time. Layla shrinks into herself.
“Sorry, moms,” she mumbles. Cady raises an eyebrow at Janis, who also shrinks into herself. They both know she’s the reason why their twins know every curse word in the dictionary. “Sorry El.”
“It’s fine,” Ellis chuckles. “I’ll kick your butt first.”
Layla snaps to attention and goes to work trying to beat her cousin. Aaron comes to join his husband and friends for a chat while Milly drags Leo to the backyard to do dances.
After a nice, but long, conversation, Cady and Janis kiss their twins goodbye and head out. Damian and Aaron are now left alone with four children. Oh boy.
————
Leo teaches Milly bits of her routines until sunset, at which point they’re called inside. Both of them are sweaty and frizzy-haired and immediately head to the kitchen to chug down water.
Leo plops down next to her sister and leans in, covering her twin in sweat. Layla shoves her away with a groan.
“Ew, Leo! Gross!”
“Like you don’t do it to me,” Leo retaliates. “What happened to kicking his butt?”
“I’ve never played this before!” Layla says.
“You played soccer for, like, five years, how is a video game of it that different?” Leo teases. Ellis tugs Leo down to the floor by an ankle to stop their bickering. She yelps and thumps to the ground beside him. “Ow!”
“You’re a gymnast, don’t you fall all the time?” Ellis teases.
“Yeah, on my face, usually,” Leo grumbles, rubbing her sore bum. She notices red on her hand when she shifts positions. Oh, hell.
————-
“Where did Leo run off to?” Aaron asks as he comes back into the room.
“I dunno, she just ran upstairs,” Ellis shrugs. “She was fine before, I don’t know what happened.”
“I’ll go check on her,” Layla says. “Here, Uncle Aaron.”
“Thanks, squirt,” Aaron says, taking the controller back from his niece and getting back into the game.
“Lolo? Where did you go?” Layla calls as she heads up the stairs to find her twin.
Nothing.
“Hey!” Layla yelps as a hand suddenly snatches her arm and hauls her into the bathroom. “Leo, what-“
“We have a situation,” Leo hisses.
“Okay, you couldn’t just tell me that? Where have you been?” Layla grumbles. “What do you want, dummy?”
“I’ve been in here,” Leo murmurs. “It… happened.”
“What?”
“It,” Leo says again, sharper. Layla’s eyes go wide.
“Ohhhh,” she says. “That’s… fine, you know? Mom and Mama told us about this, they said not to be embarrassed. It’s natural, Lolo.”
“Yeah, but there’s nothing to use. Our backpacks are at home and there’s nothing here,” Leo huffs. “I think Ivie took all her stuff with her to college. I don’t want to get blood all over the place.”
“Oh yeah,” Layla agrees. “Should I go ask Uncle D to buy some?”
“No!”
“Why not? You need something,” Layla huffs. “Or are you just gonna hide in here until Mom and Mama come get us?”
“I don’t want him to know,” Leo grumbles. “It’s… it’s embarrassing.”
“You’re literally doing the opposite of what Mom and Mama said to do,” Layla says. “Uncle D, like, changed our diapers and stuff. He has two daughters, and one of them definitely already has her period. He’s not gonna care or judge you for needing stuff.”
“Yeah, I know, but-“ Leo begins, getting cut off by a knock on the door.
“Ladies, is everything good? You’ve been in there a while,” Damian asks through the door. “We’re gonna watch a movie soon.”
The twins frantically gesture to one another, having a conversation without words. Layla wants to tell him, Leo doesn’t. Layla wins.
She checks to make sure everything important is covered to protect her twin’s privacy and then opens the door. Damian pokes his head in with his eyes closed.
“What’s up?” He asks.
“Japan is invading,” Leo grumbles.
“What?”
“Satan’s sacrificial waterfall,” Leo tries again.
“Oh,” Damian says. “Oh my gosh! Aww, honey! You guys are growing up quick, holy shit.”
“Why did you get that one?” Layla asks.“That’s what your mom called it when we were in high school,” Damian explains. “And college. Living together was rough those weeks.”
The twins both giggle a bit, imagining their mom clinging to Damian and whining at him. It’s nothing they haven’t seen before, but imagining them younger is fun.
“Oh, we don’t have anything here, do we?” Damian suddenly realizes. “Shit. Which one of you is it? Both?”
“Just her,” Layla teases. “But yeah, she needs stuff.”
Damian thwacks her on the head gently. “It’s gonna happen to you, soon, be nice. Leo, honey, why don’t you take a shower? I’m gonna take your darling twin to go buy you some stuff you’ll need.”
“Did I get blood anywhere?” Leo asks anxiously as Damian hands her a few soft towels.
“I didn’t see any,” Damian shrugs. “If you did it’s not a big deal, after being married to your uncle for twelve years I know how to get stains out of everything. Speaking of, give Layla anything that got stained, we’ll wash that for you.”
“Okay,” Leo murmurs. “Thanks, Uncle D.”
“Of course, honey. You relax, everything’s good,” Damian comforts, hauling Layla back out of the bathroom and shutting the door. “Darling?”
Aaron pops his head out from the kitchen and looks at them as they walk downstairs. “Yeah, babe?”
“I’m taking Layla out for a while, do you have dinner plans yet?” Damian asks.
“No, why?” Aaron asks as Damian follows him back to the kitchen. He spies the slightly stained shorts in Layla’s hands. “Ah. Got it.”
Layla looks between them in confusion. “What?”
“We’re having spaghetti and meatballs tonight,” Aaron says.
“Okay, how did you-what did-“ Layla stutters.
“Both your moms always crave carbs and red meat when they’re on their periods, it’ll probably be the same for you two. You learn stuff quick when you live with two ladies,” Damian shrugs.
“Daddy, can I come?” Milly asks. “Please? I’m done with chores.”
“Of course, Froggy,” Damian says, grinning as his daughter squeals and runs off to find some shoes. “El, do you want to come?”
“Where are you going?” Ellis asks.“Just the convenience store, probably,” Damian says. Ellis shakes his head and goes back to his video game. “Alrighty. Let’s go!”
————-
“Layla, do you know what brand your moms bought you guys?” Damian asks once they’re in the right aisle.
“No,” Layla says. “Does it really matter? They all look the same.”
“I guess it doesn’t matter all that much,” Damian shrugs. “But they are different sizes, so we’ll have to read them first.”
“These ones are pretty,” Milly says, pointing to a box.
“Those are tampons, honey, we need pads,” Damian says. “Your moms should do tampons with you, that’s not… my area of expertise.”
“What’s a tampon?” Milly asks.
“Um… it’s kind of like a pad, but it goes inside,” Damian says. Milly pulls a face and runs away from the box. “You have a few years left, kiddo. You have time to learn.”
“It’s gonna happen to me too?” Milly huffs.“Yep. Every month until you’re about fifty,” Damian responds with a ruffle to her hair.
“What the hell?!” Milly yells. “That’s not fair! Daddy, can’t I just be a boy like you?”
Damian and Layla both bite their lips to hold back a laugh at Milly’s reaction. Damian doesn’t even scold her for swearing.
“Do you actually want to be a boy or do you just not want a period?” Layla asks helpfully. “You don’t have to be a boy to not get one. My mom takes medicine to stop hers because it bugs her so much.”
“Oh,” Milly says. “I’ll do that. I like being a girl.”
Layla hugs her from behind and continues browsing. “This kind look familiar, I think this is what Mama got us.”
Damian grabs grabs the box and reads over it. “Sounds good to me.” He tosses it into their basket along with the nighttime variety in case someone gets their period during a sleepover. “Okay, this way.”
“Candy?” Layla asks in confusion when she sees what aisle they’ve been led to. “Why?”
“You have so much to learn, young one,” Damian tuts. He grabs a massive bag of chocolate and adds it to their basket too. Layla tries to peek at what kinds are inside and earns herself a gentle flick. “Not for you.”
“That’s all for Leo?!” Layla asks loudly. “No fair!”
“Do you currently have a torrent of blood escaping your body against your will?” Damian asks with a raised eyebrow. Layla shakes her head. “That’s what I thought. You’ll get your own bag when you get yours. I’ll fight off your moms to give you your first period chocolate. Just a few more things, then we can go back home.”
Damian grabs some spare undies and a lavender teddy, one that can be microwaved and used as a heating pad. Once that’s been added to the basket he lets each of the girls pick a face mask for themselves, and ones for him, Aaron, Leo, and Ellis too.
“Ooh, look!” Milly suddenly says, wandering off when she spies some miniature backpacks. “Daddy, can I get one?”
“Actually, yeah,” Damian says. “Layla, that’d be good for when you two don’t have your school backpacks, you could keep your stuff in there. You should pick one too.”
“Okay,” Layla shrugs, grabbing a purple one without much thought.
“This one can be for Leo!” Milly says happily, holding a blue one with her own pink one.
“Sounds good, Froggy,” Damian hums. “Okay, let’s go check out now.”
Once their few items have been purchased, Milly takes the receipt that’s nearly as long as she is and does a ribbon dance around the parking lot. Layla cheers her on and acts as a backup dancer until they make it back to the car.
“Crazies,” Damian says lovingly as they enter the car. “Buckle up, I need to go home and eat.”
—————
They hear the shower water shut off just as they get back. Damian sends Layla upstairs with the new undies and pads to give to Leo. Her twin opens the door to take them and then quickly shuts it again, locking it behind her. Layla is halfway back downstairs before she hears Leo call for her.
With an eye roll she turns back around. “What now?”
“I don’t have clothes,” Leo mumbles. “Mine are in the laundry.”
“Oh,” Layla says. She takes a deep breath and yells, “Uncle D!”
“What?” Damian yells back.
“Leo needs clothes!”
“Oh! Okay, one sec!” Damian calls.
“God, Layla, you’re so loud,” Leo grumbles through the door.
“It worked, I don’t see why you’re complaining,” Layla huffs back.
Damian pads his way up the stairs. “You guys can’t share with Milly anymore, can you? That growth spurt you two had. Hmm.”
He disappears to his own bedroom and comes back with some of his old sweatpants and a hoodie.
“These will have to do, Aaron’s old stuff is all in the laundry,” he says, handing them to Layla to give to her twin. “Leo, dinner’s done whenever you’re ready, honey.”
“Thanks, Uncle D,” Leo calls through the door.
“Of course,” Damian says as he heads back to everyone downstairs.
“Do you need anything else, Your Highness?” Layla grumbles.
“No, leave me alone,” Leo says back.
“Suit yourself. Love you,” Layla calls as she also heads back downstairs.
“Love you too!”
————-
Leo comes padding gently down the stairs a few minutes later. Her wet hair is loosely braided over her shoulder and she’s in her uncle’s sweats, the pants tied with a hair tie at her waist and cuffed to fit, and the sleeves of the shirt rolled up several times.
Layla watches in a mix of awe and concern as her small dancer of a twin sister wolfs down three portions of their spaghetti dinner in the same time it takes her to finish one. Leo sticks her tongue out at her when she catches her staring.
-
“Whoa,” Leo says when she spies the massive bag of candy and teddy bear waiting for her on the couch after dinner. “This is all for me?”
“Of course,” Damian says. “Celebrate your next forty-odd years of misery, come on.”
“Leo, look,” Milly insists, dragging her to see the teddy bear. “He smells nice and you can cook him so he gets warm!”
“Thanks, Mills,” Leo chuckles. “Did you name it yet?”
“No,” Milly murmurs. “Um… Theo!”
“I like it,” Leo nods.
“Oh, wait!” Milly yells suddenly, running to grab the backpacks they bought.
“Milly, inside voice, darling,” Aaron scolds gently. There’s not much use to it, Milly is so exuberant all the time.
“Sorry Papa,” Milly says shyly. “Here!”
Leo takes it curiously. “Thank you.”
“For when we don’t have our school bags,” Layla explains. “Mine’s purple, don’t touch it.”
Leo rolls her eyes. “Sure, like I want your stuff. Hey, that’s mine!”
Layla quickly stuffs the rest of her stolen piece of chocolate into her mouth so Leo can’t have it back. “Heh.”
“Loser,” Leo huffs.
“Settle down,” Damian chuckles, grabbing his daughter and sitting on the couch for a movie while Milly passes out the face masks. Ellis cuddles into his side, and Aaron sits by him. Leo and Layla take their usual place on the ground by everyone’s feet. Leo holds her new warm teddy bear to her cramping tummy and forces her twin to cuddle her.
————-
“Heyyy,” Cady greets as they enter the house a few hours later. Milly runs to go hug her aunties.
“Hey, Milly Billy!” Janis greets, scooping her niece up and carrying her back to the living room. “Aww.”
Her twins are both sound asleep on the floor and almost completely intertwined. She can’t totally tell where one ends and the other begins.
“Why is Leo in Damian’s clothes?” Cady asks, taking a few pictures of her daughters actually tolerating each other.
“And why is there so much chocolate?” Janis adds, setting Milly down to go back to her own family.
“Leo started her period, her stuff got stained,” Damian explains. Aaron heads to go grab said clothes from the dryer. “So we took a fun little trip to the convenience store.”
“Poor kid,” Janis hums. “I didn’t even think of that, we gave them stuff to keep in their school bags but I forgot to give them anything for when they’re… not at school.”
“She was fine, she actually handled everything pretty well,” Damian shrugs. “Did you ladies have fun?”
Cady starts giggling suddenly, and Janis pouts. “I only hit the ceiling one time!”
“Jay, we went bowling,” Cady giggles. “I still don’t know how you managed it, that ball was heavy.”
“It was one time! I beat you, anyway,” Janis grumbles.
“I let you win,” Cady retaliates. “Get our children.”
Janis carefully pries the twins apart and scoops up Layla while Cady takes all of their things. Cady carefully pecks her daughter on the forehead as Janis carries her past and giggles quietly as her nose twitches.
Janis comes back once Layla is safely in the car and grabs Leo to carry her out as well. Leo is a lighter sleeper and wakes up as she’s lifted from the ground.
“Hey, Mommy,” she yawns. Janis chuckles and kisses her forehead.
“Hey, Bee. I hear you had a big day,” she whispers back. Leo nods and cuddles into her. Cady kisses her forehead too, and her daughter grins a little. “Bye guys. Thank you for taking care of her.”
Aaron and Damian both wave as the ladies all leave. Janis puts Leo in the back by her sister and gets into her own seat to take her family home. Leo falls back asleep almost immediately, so Cady and Janis are almost alone together.
Cady looks at her when she hears a sniffle. “Mpendwa, what’s wrong?”
“They’re growing up,” Janis whispers. “Leo has her period, she’s-she’s a teenager. They both are, they’re not… they’re not my little ones anymore.”
Cady grins sadly at her and squeezes her hand. “I know. We can’t stop time. But they’ll always be our babies.”
Janis nods and squeezes her back, blinking the tears out of her eyes so she can drive safely.
—-
Janis carries the twins up to bed once they get home. When she heads back to her own bedroom, she finds her wife waiting for her with an old photo album from the twins’ first few years.
Janis rushes through changing into her pajamas and brushing her teeth to cuddle in with her wife. She and Cady stay up late, reminiscing over the photos and even farther back.
“Did you ever think when you rescued me from the bathroom that day in high school that we’d be here?” Cady asks quietly once photos have been seen and stories retold.
“I could only dream it, Sunshine,” Janis murmurs back. Cady scoffs and nudges her.
“You’re so poetic,” she chuckles. Janis rests the photo album on her nightstand and grabs her wife for their nightly cuddle session. Once the lights are off and they’re holding each other close, Cady whispers, “I’m glad we’re here.”
“I am too, baby,” Janis whispers back in between kisses. “I am too.” -
thank you for reading!! hope you enjoyed!
lots of love,

OC Backstory Weeks Week 0: Intro
Hey guys, @yourocsbackstory is running this weekly event again! Go check her Masterpost out to get the info about it and feel free to participate if it interests you! I’ll be reblogging OC entries as well, if I see them!
This time I around I’ll use Sunny from Farm Boy Blues during the run of the event. Week 0 is the intro so here’s what I have!
_______________________________________________________________________
Tumblr media
Sunny woke up in the dim light of the doctor’s office with a crushing headache and a chalky dry mouth. He’d been laying on the cot for 3 days and it wasn’t doing his back or limbs any favors. Not to mention, the doctor’s office smelled like copper and sweat.
“Doc!”
“Hold on, asshole, I’m busy!”
Sunny scoffed and tried to sit up. The first two times, he failed, but the third time was more successful, even though his chest screamed with pain. He glanced down at his stitches and grimaced through the lances of searing pain before letting out a long breath. He reached over to the blinds next to his bed and opened them, letting some sunshine in.
Staring out the window at the small desert town around the doctor’s office. It seemed pretty busy, so it must have been midday. This town was out of the way, but that was the point. The doctor usually serviced mercenaries and wounded travelers and this was the closest medical help outside Dyson City. The family who’d hauled Sunny here days ago had probably been on their way there.
Behind him, Sunny heard rubber shoes shuffling against the smooth concrete floor. He turned, hoping to see the doctor. Instead, there was a young boy- probably 8 years old. He had curly dark hair and deep brown skin. His brightly colored clothes offset his large, brown eyes. The kid stared at Sunny for a few moments before offering him a bottle of water.
“Where’s the doctor?”
“He says he can’t come right now but you gotta take these,” the kid mumbled shyly, handing him a small paper cup with two pills inside. Pain killers.
“Thanks, kid,” Sunny nodded before downing the pills. He guzzled the room temperature water while the kid stared at him. When he finished, Sunny crushed the bottle and gingerly tossed it towards the trash bin. He missed, and the kid scooped it up and made it in. “Well aren’t you a helpful employee,” Sunny smirked.
“I don’t work here,” the boy sighed.
“Oh… Then who are you?”
“A kid…”
“Ha…”
The boy laughed, which made Sunny chuckle, despite the painful protest from his chest. “I found you on the road,” the boy finally said.
“Oh, you did huh?” Sunny grimaced. “So, I guess you’re the one who called for help?”
The boy nodded, sitting in the chair next to Sunny’s bed and propping a leg up on the seat. Sunny nodded and held his hand out for the child to shake. The kid stared at it for a second before finally shaking.
“Thanks. If it wasn’t for you, I’d probably be dead,” Sunny laid back down against the rough material of the cot.
“No problem,” the boy nodded.
“You headed to Dyson City?”
“Yep. We live there. My daddy’s a writer and my mommy sells houses. We went on vacation and stopped to use the bathroom when I found you.”
“You didn’t pee on me, did you?”
The kid laughed. “No, silly.”
“Well, that’s good.”
“What’s you name, mister?” The boy asked, voice tinged with curiosity as he picked at his shoe laces.
“Sunny. Yours?”
“Manuel.”
“Nice to meet you, Manuel. Thanks for the help.”
“What happened to you?”
“Somebody shot me…”
“Duh, I know that,” Manuel rolled his eyes.
“Well then you know what happened,” Sunny winked.
“Does it hurt?”
“Yep. Like a…” Sunny trailed enough, deciding not to curse in front of somebody else’s kid. “A lot.”
“You live in Dyson City too?”
“Yes, sir! Since I was fifteen, actually,” Sunny bucked his eyebrows.
“What’s your job?”
Oh boy, Sunny thought. “Well, I’m an asset… reacquisition… contractor. Basically, I-”
“Asset means something important,” Manuel nodded. “Reacquisition means you get something?”
“Wow, that’s pretty good, kid. How old are you?”
“Seven,” Manuel sniffed and rested his chin on his knee.
“Ah, I guessed eight. You’re pretty smart.”
“I read at fourth grade reading level.”
“Is reacquisition a fourth grade word?” Sunny furrowed his eyebrows but the kid shrugged. “Well anyways, you were close, like I said. Pretty much, when somebody loses something, they hire me to go find it.”
“Were you looking for something in the desert?” Manuel scratched the bridge of his nose and sniffed again.
“Ah… No. I’d actually just quit my job. Don’t think that’s gonna last, though. Good thing I work for myself.”
Before Manuel could reply or(what Sunny thought was more likely), ask another question, two adults entered the back room of the office. They were obviously Manuel’s parents. The man wore a loose, airy blue shirt and shorts with a baseball cap while the woman wore a yellow tank top and light shorts. They glanced from Manuel to Sunny before the father sucked his teeth.
“Manuel, get out of here and stop bothering him,” he snapped his fingers.
“I’m nnnooooooot,” Manuel whined.
“Hey, sir, really,” Sunny held a hand up, wincing, “It’s fine.”
The man didn’t look too sure, and the woman furrowed her brows. “We don’t want him keeping you awake, you need to rest,” she said.
“I’ve been in and out for three days,” Sunny chuckled, “I could use some conversation. Manuel here was just keeping me company.”
“Problem is, he has a habit of asking too many questions for answers that aren’t any of his business,” the man stressed, looking at his son. Manuel, dark curls glowing in the window light, jutted his chin out in defiance.
“Hey, at least I still know my name and where I live,” Sunny winked. “We can just say he was assisting the doctor, eh Manuel?”
“Right!”
“I’m Sunny, by the way.”
“Ah, my name’s Robert and this is my wife Helena,” Robert reached out gingerly to take Sunny’s hand. Helena did the same with a warm, motherly smile.
“I appreciate you guys bringing me here,” Sunny nodded, “A lot of people would have just.. Left me or robbed me.”
“It was the right thing to do. I imagine if I was in your position I’d want someone to help me,” Helena nodded. Sunny didn’t know these people very well, but he found himself hoping that would never happen.
“Do you think whoever did this to you would still be looking for you?” Robert asked.
Sunny scoffed before clearing his throat, his chest pain flaring. “No… They’re long gone by now.”
“Should we be worried about the feds coming and asking us questions?” Helena asked with a small, knowing smile. Sunny tapped Manuel on his knee.
“Hey, these are the questions you should have been asking.”
Manuel rolled his eyes and shifted in his seat to face his parents. “Sunny’s not a criminal, he finds stuff for people.”
Helena furrowed her brow again in curiosity before Sunny explained, “I’m an Arc.”
“Ah… Say no more,” Robert held a hand out. “I had to hire one when Helena and I first got married. Your job probably takes you all over the place, huh?”
“Unfortunately,” Sunny bucked his eyebrows.
“Well, do you have family coming to pick you up, Sunny? Or should we wait until you’re better and bring you with us?” Helena asked.
“What? No, no, don’t wait. You guys have been here long enough, you should head home. And as far as family, it’s just me- other than my Mama who won’t be coming out here.”
“I get it,” Robert nodded, “my relationship with my mother isn’t the best, but I at least think she’d help me were I in your position. Are you sure you don’t want to call her?”
“Oh, she’s not my real mom, she’s more of like an unofficial adoptive mother. And she’s got other kids to worry about.”
“Ah, ok, sorry for prying,” Robert held that weathered hadn’t out again.
“Hey, no problem. Manuel, do you see my clothes anywhere?”
The kid looked around in exaggerated twists before he spotted Sunny’s clothes under the cot. He pointed to them and Sunny nodded, “Good, hand me my pants will ya?”
When he was handed the jeans, Sunny dug for his wallet, found it and produced a yellow and white card decorated with a Hawaiian flower pattern. Embossed on the front were thick black letters that read:
Keaton Investigations
“My info’s on the back there. If you ever need anything, let me know.”
Helena accepted the card, flipped it over and handed it to Robert. “New Rodeo, honey.” Manuel gasped.
“Your office isn’t too far from our house,” Robert raised his eyebrows.
“Oh yeah? Well the office is actually my place- I live in the loft upstairs.” Sunny briefly wondered why he’d tell strangers that, but it’s not like they wouldn’t find that out if they showed up at the address on the card anyways.
“That’s perfect,” Helena smiled, “We’d love to have you over for dinner sometime!”
“Oh, ma’am, I wouldn’t want to intrude on your family like that.”
“PPpllllleeeeaaaaassseee,” Manuel begged.
How am I supposed to say no to this kid? Sunny thought.
“It wouldn’t be too much trouble at all,” Robert assured him. “We’d love it.”
Sunny considered it for a moment. In the back of his mind, he could hear Mama coaching him to get out more and spend time with normal people. Make friends and all that. “Okay, sure,” Sunny shrugged against the pain. Leave me a message at the office when you get back into town. I’ll take a few days to heal and get back to you guys.”
“Promise?” Manuel asked. Sunny nodded.
“You got it, buddy.”
“Yes!”
“Alright, we’ll be waiting to hear from you,” Helena smiled. “Get well soon.”
“It’s time for us to head back, Manuel, grab your bag and throw it in the car.”
“Yes, sir,” the boy nodded and jumped out of his chair. Before leaving the room, the kid turned back and ran to the cot. He held his hand out for a high five and Sunny obliged.
“Thanks again for the help, kid.”
“All in a day’s work,” Manuel grinned.

I think I might have to bring back Manuel and his family in the future! This was fun, I can’t wait to continue this event!

To Change the Future
Bucky Barnes x Tony Stark and WinterIron x Daughter!Reader
Summary- You live in truly the darkest timeline. Ultron killed your parents and basically the entire human race. Will an accidental trip to the future change that?
Message- I take some aspects of The Next Avengers movie, but their back story isn’t exactly the same. Sorry if this sucks.
Warnings- Death
Word Count- 2046
All of the Avengers died long ago. You were a member of The Next Avengers, you worked with your team to help protect the Earth as those who survived Ultron’s Apocalypse rebuilds. You were all the children of the Avengers, James was the son of Natasha Romanoff and Steve, Francis is the son of Clint and Linda Barton, Azari is the son of T’Challa, Torunn is the daughter of Thor, and you were the adopted daughter of Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark. They had found you as a baby in a Hydra base, days after you had been injected with the super serum.
You were on a mission with Azari and James, when it all goes weird. The three of you are pulled into a portal, you feel yourself falling for what feels like forever. Then you hit the ground with a sudden jolt.
“Everyone okay?” James asks.
“Yeah.” Azari moans.
“I’m just going to lie here for a minute.” You groan and your two friends laugh. The three of you get up and start wandering around, searching for any clues as to where the three of you had landed.
“Alright, hands up.” Someone says as they put a gun to the back of your head. So you put your hands up and slowly turn around, and your shocked at you see.
“Papa?” You whisper.
“What?” Bucky says looking at you in surprise.
“Papa.” You sob. “You’re alive. Is Daddy- who else is alive?” Then you hear James give out a joyous shriek. It’s enough for Bucky to lower his weapon and you take off. You find James hugging a very confused Natasha.
“Mama. H-How are you here?” He sobs.
“Auntie Nat?” You ask. Her head swivels to look at you, her confusion only growing. Then you hear Azari it sounds like he is crying as he say Dad over and over.  Then a door opens and in walks your Uncle Steve and your Dad.
“Dad?” Both you and James gasp as you look at the men standing in the doorway.
“Ummmm. What?” Tony asks.
“Dad, it’s me Y/N.” You say.
“I think you have me confused with someone else.” Your Dad says. Then you look at him, really look at him and you realize that he’s too young, even younger than he looked in your baby photos.
“Oh my God. We’re in the past.” You say looking at James. You both crumple a bit. “Azari, come here!” You hear some rustling and Azari comes bounding in T’Challa following him.
“I think we’re in the past!” Azari says, sparks of electricity jumping off of his skin.
“Yeah.” James says. “We figured that out.”
“Wait, what’s going on?” Steve asks.
“These three seem to be under the impression that they are our children.” T’Challa says.
“That’s because we are! We fell through a portal and ended up here!” Azari exclaims electricity sparking from his hands.
“Okay, Sparky, calm down. I mean jeez who’s your other parent? Thor?” Your Dad says, motioning to his hands. The three of you burst out laughing.
“No, Uncle Tony, my Mom is Storm!” Azari says.
“Storm?” T’Challa asks curiously. But the three of you don’t answer.
“Wait but you called me Papa and then you called Tony Dad?” Bucky asks.
“Yep.” You say.
“That would mean we-.” Tony starts.
“The two of you adopted me a little after your first wedding anniversary.” You say gently. Then Tony starts to laugh, the laugh kind of sounds manic.
“He killed my parents!” Tony shouts.
“Don’t say that.” You whisper. You could feel tears starting to run down your cheeks. “You always said that it wasn’t Papa’s fault!”
“Y/N.” Azari murmurs, putting a hand on your shoulder, pulling you into a hug.
“I miss being taller than you.” You murmur into Azari’s chest, which vibrates with his laughter.
“You asked me how I was alive. Am I- am I dead in the future?” Bucky asks.
“You all are.” James murmurs.
“Oh.” Steve says, looking around the room.
“How are you my son? I-I can’t have children.” Natasha whispers after several minutes of tense silence.
“Aunt Helen found a way to combine Dad’s and yours DNA to create an embryo and then Auntie Wanda volunteered to be your surrogate.” James explains. Then Natasha pulls him into a hug, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“I never thought I’d get to be a mom.” Natasha murmurs.
“Maybe we should spend some time with our children.” T’Challa says starring at Azari.
“That sounds like a good idea.” Steve says, looking on as Natasha murmurs softly to James in Russian. Soon you, your Papa and your Dad are the only ones left in the room.
“Where are we anyway?” You ask.
“The basement of the compound.” Tony answers, looking at anything but you.
“You said we adopted you?” Bucky asks quietly and you nod.
“The two of you found me on your one year anniversary.” You say smiling. “Daddy was so mad that the two of you had to cancel your plans for the day, but Uncle Steve needed your help raiding a Hydra base, Auntie Nat couldn’t go because James was sick. Anyway you found me in one of the labs. They had injected me with the super soldier serum. Papa always jokes that I was your anniversary present.”
“Let’s go upstairs. I feel like we should be sitting for this conversation.” Tony murmurs and you and Bucky nod. The ride in the elevator is silent, and so is the walk to Tony’s lab. The three of you sit on a couch in the corner.
“How old were you when we died?” Tony murmurs.
“I was the youngest of the kids, so I was 9 I think. Azari was 10. James is the oldest he was 13, Torunn and Francis were 12.”
“Who are Torunn and Francis?” Bucky asks.
“Torunn is Thor’s daughter and Francis is Clint’s son.” You murmur and they both nod.
“What happened?” Bucky whispers.
“Ultron.” You answer.
“That’s impossible. We destroyed him.” Tony says and you just shake your head.
“That’s what you thought then to. But he came back- with a vengeance. H-he came for you first.” You sob. “W-We were on vacation- you wanted to teach me how to ski- a-and he came into the cabin. Papa held him off while we escaped.”
“That’s how I died?” Bucky murmurs and you nod. Then he pulls you onto his lap and you cry into the crook of his neck, just like you had when you were upset as a child.
“Dad wanted revenge.” You whisper. “Y-You figured out how to take him down. You, Uncle Clint, Auntie Nat and Uncle Steve dropped left us in Wakanda with Uncle T’Challa. That’s the last time we ever saw any of you.”
“The mission failed.” Tony asks and you nod.
“Ultron took over the world. Wakanda was the last country to fall. When it did Thor came from Asgard and took the 4 of us to with him. He raised us alongside Torunn until we were old enough to return to earth. It was then we finally defeated Ultron. That was a little over a year ago, those who survived are now working on rebuilding. Ultron destroyed a lot.”
“I-It’s all my fault.” Tony whispers. “I cause the Apocalypse.”
“No!” You say sharply. “It wasn’t your fault, no one blames you.”
“Yeah, Okay!” Tony huffs after several minutes of silence he looks at Bucky and then you. “How do we get from this to married?”
“What do you mean this?” You ask.
“He means a little over a year ago the two of us tried to kill each other.” Bucky murmurs.
“The civil war.” You say nodding. “Uncle Thor told us about that. I-I don’t really know how you guys ended up married. I mean I was only nine when the two of you-.”
“Died.” Tony murmurs. Taking your hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze.
“But for what it’s worth the two of you loved each other so much.” You whisper, smiling. “Daddy used to take us on these insane trips, all over the world. But our favorite place was a house you bought in California. It’s where you taught me how to swim. W-We used to wake up really early and go down to the beach to collect shells and sea glass. At night Dad would tell us about the constellations while we sat around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows. I-I would always burn mine, so Papa would trade with me.”
“That sounds amazing.” Tony says, and Bucky nods.
“It was.” You whisper.
“Tell us more.” Bucky murmurs. You spend hours telling them about the first nine years of your life, the three of you laugh and cry and laugh some more. Then you start feeling tingly and a portal opens up in front of you.
“Guess it’s time for me to go.” You murmur, after asking FRIDAY to inform Azari and James about the portal. “I’m glad I got to see the two of you again.”
“I can’t wait meet you.” Bucky says.
“Same.” Tony says, shifting his weight from one foot to another. Then you pull the two of them into a hug.
“I love the two of you. I-I miss the two of you every day.” You whisper, then you kiss each of their cheeks.
“What’s your last name? D-Do we hyphenate?” Tony asks.
“Stark-Barnes.” You say, smiling. “The two of you hyphenate to.” Then Azari and James walk in followed by their parents. The three of you hug your parents and then you all walk through the portal.  Then you’re falling again. Then you see yourself laying in a bed, you had become transparent and you fell into your own body. Memories of a different timeline- a better time line come flooding into your mind. Ultron was defeated before he could even become a threat. All of the Avengers were alive, including your Dad and Papa. You shoot out of bed and go racing for the kitchen.
“Dad! Papa!” You yell and they jump up from their seats at the breakfast bar.
“Honey, what’s wrong?” Tony asks.
“Y-You’re alive!” You sob and they both look at each other and then look at you.
“I always wondered what happened when you went through that portal.” Tony murmurs as Bucky pulls you into a hug.
“Everything is okay. You’re safe. We’re alive. We love you, so much sweetie.” Bucky murmurs.
“James and Azari.” You say.
“I’m sure they’re okay. We can call them later, to make sure.” Bucky says as he leads you table, so you can sit. Tony places a plate in front of you and you start to eat.
“What do you remember?” Tony asks.
“Everything. From both timelines.” You murmur.
“That’s incredible.” Tony says.
“I’m so happy.” You sob. “I-I can’t believe-.”
“I know, but you gave us a chance to save the world, Honey. You, James and Azari saved the world.” Bucky says
***
(The Past)
“I can’t believe we have to work on our anniversary.” Tony grumbles.
“Shut up, Tones! You’re just as excited as me! We’re going to become parents today!” Bucky says, practically vibrating in his seat in the quinjet.
“Don’t get your hopes up to much. We-We don’t know what change, them coming to the past could have changed everything.” Tony murmurs.
“Shut up.” Bucky says, rolling his eyes. As soon as the Quinjet lands Bucky goes bounding off the jet, dropping Hydra agents as he does. He finally gets to the lab, he stops when he sees a squirming bundle on one of the tables.
“Guess I was wrong.” Tony says, as he catches up to Bucky. They walk over to you together, Bucky picking you up in his arms when they do.
“Hey there, Honey.” Bucky whisper. “I’m your Papa and this is your Daddy. We’ve been looking forward to meeting you for a long time.” You gurgle in response and they both laugh.
“We love you so much, Y/N. We’re going to teach you how to swim and ski. We are going to love you no matter what and protect you no matter what. W-We’re going to change the future for you.” Tony says, as he takes you into his arms.

It’s been a while since I wrote to you. Well I had a busy summer and in a way needed some time to adjust.
So let’s begin at the start of my summer. In the last week of July I moved house. It was a hard week. I lost track of the times I drove to the new house with a loaded car. All while I was dog sitting little Kurt. I was lucky that everything did fit in my giant as fuck van, the biggest that I could drive myself. It was exhausting but by the last Thursday in July I had all my stuff in the new house and left the old house as I thought behind. The days towards the move I cleaned and scrubbed the old house like a crazy person, when I wasn’t loading my car or unloading it in the new house I was scrubbing. Well… I thought it is nice and clean, some parts I purposely did not clean because I did not want to hide the intense mould in the attachment. In the end it was not clean enough in the landlord’s eyes. They complained about not dusted behind and in between radiators, under the fridge and even the huge piles of garden waste that I would have paid a lot of money to get it taken away and also some other places that weren’t clean we moved in. It was ridiculous and we could have fought getting more of the deposit back but in the end I just wanted to have a clean cut and not having to deal with them any more. The weeks towards the moving out date there were a few viewing but what surprised me the most was to find out how much the landlord put up the rent of the house, I am still not sure if it was worth that much more money. I did see that it has been taken off the market, I am curious to find out if it is rented out again. I might have a drive by next time I am in town.
Once I moved all my crap into the new house I tackled the unpacking straight away. My new mattress nearly killed my friend Sarah, I think it was the exhaustion that even made us even laugh when it happened. It went quite smoothly, though I did forget the new house key when we drove the van up(down? I’d say up). It took me three times to get my new (old) Narnia wardrobe upstairs. Twice I failed and then I was so annoyed that I took the whole think apart any nail and screw was taken out so that in the end I managed to get it upstairs and in my dressing room, it is a bit crooked put back together but would you be if you were holding an entire different world inside? It took my just a few days to have the house that looked like a messy shed to be a home.
But my summer did not stop there. Just a little over a week after moving in Mama came to visit, it wasn’t so much of a vacation visit. We did do a few fun things but many we did stuff in the house and the garden. The garden was rough it took a day to get it all sorted and nice looking. Now it looks like this really pretty oasis, but it got very quickly too uncomfortable as in wet and cold to be sitting outside. We joked we should have left it to the last days of her stay to keep the sun and warmth of summer. We did put up wall stickers, moved furniture and got decorations. We had lovely talks some more serious, some more funny but I am glad to know that Mama is coming back for Christmas and this time with Dirk again but also and so much more importantly with Oma! My grandma, my Oma that I miss dearly and at points felt as if she gave up on me. I wish I had a downstairs guestroom but I will make sure that she has a lovely time here even though we have to get put the bed every night. I will keep you updated on my plans I have for their stay.
So summer came and went, it seemed so quickly. Mama left in the last week of my summer holidays and I got ready for school. It felt a little bit weird, our team had gotten smaller and was -not that any of us knew that in the first week of September- going to have to go through difficult times. Back when I was in school, I hated PE with all my heart! I saw it as weekly torture, now one third of my timetable is PE and you know what? I love it. I love supporting some youngsters that want to do PE but for different reasons need a differentiated curriculum. One pupil works really hard in the gym with me but sending him out with the rest of his class he struggles, recently he rowed 2km in 12 and a half minutes. I ran against him on the treadmill and was not able to beat him, he cheered me on for 6 minutes afterwards. Two other pupils have physical disadvantages one more severe than the other but they are both working very hard to beat their own best. The fourth pupil is a bit like a confused professor and needs someone to keep him on track of his task. I enjoy all my PE lessons, last week I’ve been told I would make a great PE teacher… I might be good with the physical education but I suck in rules and practices of games. Well for the moment I don’t know what the future brings, maybe one day I will be a teacher and maybe I will teach PE and German, that doesn’t sound so awful as I would have expected -at least the PE part-.
School is nothing excited but I love my job, sure the getting up part is hard and having to walk Dakota twice a day by myself is not easy. Constantly having to consider if she is alone too much but we adapted. I walk her so much during the week that at weekends she is still pretty tired.
Dakota changed a little bit she still shares toys and chews with Kurt when he is visiting but she has trouble sharing me with him. But that is understandable, she does not have to share me any more, it is different with Yvaine. Yvaine is not so much of a snuggler. Yvaine has changed too, she is now wearing a calming collar and I got to say she seems less angry with the world. For the time being she will continue wearing one, and once my guest arrive I will even top it up with calming drop-ons. She is also being trained to use the human toilet instead of a litter tray, Dakota likes eating the litter and I just see a huge mess. So far it is going very well. We are in the second stage I guess, the first stages were to get her used to a smaller littler tray and then a trainings toilet seat litter tray. She will for another 5 days use the one that is closed and then we start the third stage, still the trainings toilet seat litter tray but it will have a small hole in the middle. It will take time but fingers crossed so far she is adjusting very well. It will be nice to be done with littler trays, the toilet will be clean and easy maintainable. And the best part Dakota cannot eat dirty litter any more. Something that is really disgusting.
Since I moved I went to a new church, they are all very nice and friendly I will try it a few times and also try some others before I settle. It is nice to meet people here. On the note of meeting people I would love to talk about my neighbours but a part of me worries that somehow they find out. They fight, as in physical fight and one night the police came and recently they broke their own living room window. It is a little bit scary. The kids of the street like me and Dakota, they are amused by Yvaine, they don’t seem to understand why I do not let her out. I have to make sure they don’t start knocking at the window when she is sitting there.
I don’t think this topic is a topic for a short paragraph but it is a start. So I am yearning to be a mother, and I tried the adoption foster road and I ran the council here again but even though they liked me on the phone as soon they asked me about family and support system they told me I need to make more friends. I decided I will go down the route of co-parenting, I am searching for a man that is willing to co-parent. It is the route of sperm donor and separated parents it is a scary route and a long road ahead of me, especially with my polycystic ovary syndrome. It makes conceiving a little bit hard. The process of finding someone that is a person I want to have in my life forever is not easy. I am basically looking to find a best friend that I want to have a child with. If everything works out I will be a mother in the next few years hopefully before I turn 35. It is scary but exciting.
And lastly, thank you for everyone that supported me and Dakota during our mud run. We raced £125 and got muddy to the underwear. It was so much fun.

I will try to write more regularly, for whoever reads those I know it is many for me but hey I enjoy writing and if anyone out there enjoys reading it that is fine by me. It helps me to let out my inner writer no matter how boring it may seem. I live alone and this way I feel like I am talking to a lot of people, to friends.
The Chaos Of Life It's been a while since I wrote to you. Well I had a busy summer and in a way needed some time to adjust.

Chapter Twenty-Three ~
The next thirty minutes are a blur. I don’t know how long I cry for. I don’t know how long I hug Mama for. I don’t know when Mike gives us both tissues and guides us to sit down. I don’t know when she finally holds my face in her bony hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. I do remember the next words she says to me though.
“My precious sunshine. Oh, how long I have waited to be with you,” she sniffles, eyes mirroring mine and painted with happiness and longing.
I close my eyes, placing my sweaty palms over her skin.
“I-I had no idea you were alive. P-Papa always told me you were gone,” I shudder, every memory of his words flooding through me.
I hear Mama let out a shaky breath, moving her hands from my face. She reaches her arm around me and pulls me to her side. It’s almost as if she can’t bare to look at me as she is going to tell me the truth I’ve desperately always wanted.
“Michael, you will want to know this, too. After all, you were stuck there for so long,” she turns her neck to look at Mike. He had been trying to give us privacy, staying at the doorway of the kitchen and out of our conversation. However, at this granted permission, he carefully sits on the other side of me.
Mama squeezes my arm gently, looking solemnly between Mike and I.
“That place...that dimension...it’s my fault it exists,” she lets out, a huff of a held in breath coming out afterwards. I feel Mike go rigid behind me as my expression yields heavy confusion.
“When I first started college, I was nothing more than a naive, Indiana-raised girl who desired to be a journalist. Unfortunately, it didn’t take me long before I got involved with the wrong people. Martin was the worst person I could’ve befriended, let alone fall in love with.”
Martin. The name registers in my head. Papa.
“He was senior, completing a hybrid degree in biology and technology. He was older and sophisticated and seemed like he knew what he was doing. He was assigned to tutor me and one thing lead to another and we started a relationship,” Mama grimaces. Reliving the story as she tells it seems to knock the wind out of her. Mama is shaking and nervous as I carefully rub her back.
“Often times, he had me help him and his friends with his projects. None of them were successful until he began experimenting with something dangerous. He started using hallucinogenic drugs, like LSD. He wanted to find a bridge between our minds and the world we lived in. He wanted to break our dimension into something different. He...he roped me into helping him with it,” Mama rests her chin on the top of my head, her breathing labored.
“As our relationship progressed, I became a more active participant alongside some of my other classmates. I didn’t even realize I was pregnant with you until my stomach bulged over my jeans and I had morning sickness everyday. Martin made me stop the experimentation, but I was exposed to it regardless. As he became more indulged in his work, he pulled away from me. You were going to be all I had, Jane,” she pulls me in tighter.
“About a month before I was due, Martin started getting closer to me again. He said that he had made a breakthrough. He was successful. He didn’t understand the science behind it yet, but he had found a gateway. He found a creature in another world that transformed itself to prey on our real dimension. The gateway your father opened was the hell hole you have been stuck in for so many months, and for Mike, years, now. He never figured out how it happened, but he did succeed in figuring out what the creature’s purpose was. He made a breakthrough.”
I feel Mike shake behind me, soft sniffles escaping as well. I know this is emotional for him, hearing the truth behind it all. He was stuck in that place for a good fraction of his life. All he wants is closure.
I turn my body slightly so Mama can still rest on me, but I can also hold Mike’s hand. He may have broken my heart and he may have major explaining to do, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about him. He grips my hand tightly, just as shaken up as Mama.
“The last month of my pregnancy was the happiest I had been the whole time. Martin began to spend more time with me and became more involved at the prospect of fatherhood. I was thrilled that your father really wanted to be in your life. At least, that’s how he made it seem. He knew the world he found was dangerous and the creature even more so. He just never went into this information with me. He didn’t tell me anything until the day you were born,” she whispers, voice cracking at the end. I can feel wet tears fall onto my head as she practically rocks me.
“When I went into labor, he said I needed a c-section. The only memory I have is of you crying when you were first born. That was the first and last time I saw you in real life...until now,” she cries, clinging onto me as if I am her life support.
“When I woke up hours later, Martin told me I miscarried. I tried to fight him, but he said being surrounded by the toxic atmosphere of the dimension and being around him all the time had caused you to become ill and stillborn. I argued with him and I tried to tell him what I saw when you were born. He wouldn’t let me talk. He knocked me out again with whatever anesthesia was left over from your birth,” she sniffles.
At this point, I am crying just as hard has her. I can’t believe my mother had to go through all of this. I can’t believe that Papa did all of this to her. He really is like the evil asshole, in real life and in another dimension. Mike is gently caressing my hand, noticing how shaken up I am from the story. Unfortunately, no amount of comfort can help me now.
“The next thing I remember, is waking up in a dark room. It was cold and the only light was sparsely laid around the room. When I had enough strength, I left the room and stumbled into a rather unfamiliar home. I walked around and found no one. I called out to Martin and his lab partners, but to no avail. To my horror, when I reached the attic upstairs, the creature was there. Although, the creature wasn’t male or female. It was all needles and spindles and metal. It was getting ready for its next plan of attack. It was stitching together a doll in order to spy on its next victim. It was the form of the last version of the other Papa that you fought,” she continues.
“When the creature realized I was there, it told me of the plan Martin had proposed. Sweetheart, your father basically auctioned us off to this...thing,” she holds me tighter, trying to prepare me for what is to come.
“Your father had made it easier for the creature to kidnap children and devour their souls. The gateway provided better access to the real world and gave promise to more children being taken. However, your father wanted to close it because there was no explanation to how the creature existed or where the dimension came from. The creature and Martin made an agreement. The gate would be left open for 20 years, enough time to feast easily, have your father experiment, and eventually, leave us behind,” she cries harder.
I feel dizzy at this news, “W-What do you mean, Mama?”
“Martin didn’t want anyone to come in between him and his work, sweetheart. He wanted to be independent and didn’t want anyone to hold him back. The deal with the creature was that it would first get me in the dimension as a slave of sorts. I needed to aid in the kidnappings in exchange for my mild safety in the dimension. When I wasn’t locked away in a secluded chamber, I had to help make the dolls and create a pristine world for all of the victims. If I refused, the creature would instantly take my soul for itself. The last part of the deal is where you came in. When the twenty years was over, the creature would get you as well and the gate would be closed.”
The news of Papa’s cruelty hits me like a ton of bricks. This all means that he never really adopted me, I was always his. There was never any excuse to treat me so poorly. He sacrificed Mama and even myself for his career. He bargained us off without any explanation. He left us there to die. He knew what he was doing when he let me come to this apartment. He knew I was being hunted all along. I have never hated him more in my entire life.
“Jane, I am so sorry. This was never the life I envisioned for you. If only I were stronger or fought harder, maybe you would have never been stuck there. If it weren’t for Mike refusing the eyes as well as you, the three of us might have been stuck there forever,” she sobs, clutching me tighter.
The room is silenced with shock, the only sounds being that of crying and labored breaths. To think that the three of us were able to escape from such an elaborate plan is not only triumphant, but terrifying. We were left in that place to die. Mama didn’t think a positive future would come out of this.
“Your father ran into some trouble with the creature several months after you started venturing to the dimension. Martin didn’t exactly tell it that you would potentially put up a fight. When you began to resent the creature and team up with Mike, the creature became vengeful. He took Martin, sweetheart. He is stuck in that place, dead and trapped there for eternity. We are free, Jane. I never thought we would be,” Mama holds me tighter.
The thought that this has always been under my nose, living in my life is settling in so slowly. My life has essentially set me up for this. I was always expected to die and be pushed aside into an alternate dimension. Papa and the creature deserve what they got. They ruined Mama. They ruined Mike. They ruined me.
Mama continues to cry and I hold on tighter, trying to calm her down.
“You’re safe now, Mama. You will never be there again. You are home. You are free. You have me,” I reassure her and rub her back.
“I was so terrified when you first started venturing to the dimension. I was hoping you would be able to work with Mike in order to help our situations. Luckily, you both were so strong-willed.”
“I’m just happy we were able to get you out of there. You didn’t deserve to get thrown into this chaos,” Mike finally pipes up, reaching out to hold Mama’s free hand. His kind gesture warms me despite the cold chill that is running through me from Mama’s story.
“We are safe now, my darlings. I promise I will protect you both. I can answer any questions you may have, but I just want you to know that you will never go back there again. What’s done is done,” Mama squeezes both of us.
For the next few minutes, that feel like seconds from the sheer emotions coursing through us, we hold each other tightly. All of our turmoil was not in vain. We are free and safe.
