As a sex repulsed ace I'd like to apologize to you and anyone who was hurt reading what that other anon wrote. I would hope that different kinds of aspecs could be allowed to talk about their different experiences on a blog for aspecs without having some kind of "non-standard" (as someone who experiences homophobia a term like that doesn't read well to me) othering label forced on them. It's one thing to politely ask for certain discussions to be tagged, but I've seen people who aren't sex repulsed aces silenced and invalidated time and time again like they're supposed to be seen but never heard and it doesn't sit right by me. You don't have to be ace to be aspec and you don't have to be sex repulsed to be aspec. And if you're sex repulsed you don't have to fit into the small box of what has been deemed acceptable or expected for a sex repulsed person, either. You all belong, and you having a voice in this community shouldn't be "unexpected" regardless of what anyone says otherwise.

Yeah, I admit I really wasn't sure how to read non-standard in that previous ask. But the subjective nature of it just made me feel like it would definitely cause problems no matter how I did it (and the couple you bring up are ones I considered too, I don't want people feeling othered or stigmatized following this blog or sending in asks).

And yes, I definitely think it's important people feel safe talking about their experiences when in sending in asks, and aren't afraid to be judged. And you're right that identity and attraction are really complex and varied. And this blog has talked a lot in the past about identities like fictosexual, cartosexual, or animatesexual, and definitely will again, so the push back this time at the idea of not even those identities but just that kind of attraction in general was a bit of surprise to me. And one of the big reasons I wanted to answer this ask is to say I hope people aren't feeling shamed or judged.

I do believe that Anon that their repulsion was set off, and I do think not tagging for sexual attraction was probably a hole in my tagging system, and I'm happy to fill that. And hopefully that's a good compromise that can work for everyone.

ok im confused again, remember the whole controversy around the ppl identifying as animesexual, saying they were mocking other sexualities? well, the LBGT+ wiki apparently says its a valid sexuality and its on the aspectrum? idk what to believe, if its valid or not, bc i dont wanna be disrespectful but im getting a lot of mixed signals :/

It’s any type of sexuality that’s not inherently related to typical genders from my understanding. I’m not sure if that’s the right term for it tho I just assumed its named something similar to that-

For example animatesexual, that I mentioned. Its for a-spec people who experience attraction to fictional characters in anime media with little to no attraction for real life ppl.
