i do apologise for the tone of my last ask but there was a time you were warned politely by another anon about a user like roach-patrol you accidentally reblogged. but after you acknowledged it you reblogged them again literally the next day. so plz understand it starts to look like you just don’t care that much even when alerted nicely

Anon, that was the first time that I was ever told about that person, (the first time that anyone had even warned me about a terf that I reblogged from actually) I don’t keep up with these people, I’m sorry but I really don’t. I block and move on. I don’t keep up with the urls of terfs/ radfems after I block them. If I do remember their urls, I just reblog the post of interest to me from another source and not them (tumblr should really make it so that after you block someone, you can’t see their post’s at all anymore, including whatever they add onto other user’s posts so that you don’t end up sharing anything from them period.) If I reblog from a terf or whoever, just send a heads up because mistakes do happen, right? And I’ll delete it and that’s be all. I usually do try to check if a source looks suspect but yeah.

I also advised her to ditch the elders so she can actually run this shit show right. Gai: And they... took that well? The elders? Kks: No, not at all. Let’s just say I said some... things that made them backtrack on their decision.

Gai: YOu cant just say that and not tell me now!! I gotta know! Kks: Well... Homura: Absolutely not! Kks: If I am appointed, I’ll be replacing you regardless. Naruto certainly will. It’s inevitable. Koharu: Those kids don’t know how this village runs!

Kks:Those kids just won your war and this is how you speak of them. Or are “those kids“ only respectable to you when they’re eager to die at your beckon call and shut up. Elders: How dare- Watch your tongue! Kks: I won’t be someone who you can walk all over. Things will change. Just so my intentions are clear

Gai: What next?! Kks: That’s is really. Kinda tuned the rest out and passed out for 3 hours. Gai: Rival, I was so invested Kks: Sorry Gai: So you agreed to essentially split the work of a hokage but not publicly take the title? Kks: Mhm Gai: So cool! You know there’s a weird connection between the fandom’s perceived idea of “good writing” and their personal feelings about specific characters. “I like this character, therefore, they’re well written” and viceversa, “I dislike this character, therefore, they’re badly written” –I’ve seen this in many fandoms and with different characters, but there’s no fandom where this is more noticeable than in the “anti Sakura” portion of the audience.

Before we start, let me be clear on something: I don’t personally like Sakura, I don’t consider myself a fan of hers (or her stans, which are just as annoying as Hinata’s), nor I believe she’s the “heroine” of a story that has no room for a character with such status (I’ve said this before, Naruto is the hero and Sasuke is the antagonist -there’s no necessity nor space for anyone else as Sakura is merely the female character with most panel time, yet she doesn’t move the plot forward and she isn’t relevant to the development of other key characters, as most of them completely ignore her existence).

“Likeability” isn’t a determining factor when it comes to labelling a character “well” or “badly” written, such notion relies on subjective factors which makes it impossible to objectively determine the overall value of a character inside a story.

The most important factor to label a character “goodly written” has more to do with how well they represent their theological narrative. For instance, Danzo -who I genuinely despise, is amazingly written, as he spot on tackles the subject of extreme-nationalistic world view, while Itachi -on the other hand, is sort-of all over the place as he subscribes to Danzo’s ideology and defends it with the same actions, yet Kishimoto desperately wanted to keep him inside the “good guys” group, which ultimately failed and took down anything Itachi might have had going for him (besides other inconsistencies as he’s presented as a genius who made nothing but mistake after mistake). There’s a reason why the antagonists are often the ones with the best characterizations, as they aren’t tied to been “morally correct” or “likeable” in order to reflect their thematic plot, which is why the better characters in Naruto happen to be Uchiha (Sasuke, Obito, Madara).

Sakura has no weight inside the plot, as she is mostly used for support of either Naruto and (to a lesser extent) Sasuke, she stands narratively in the same spectrum as most “good” characters of the show, so she’s thematically not much more relevant than the rest of K-11; yet she’s given more depth than many other characters, as she’s a layered character of whom we see both her strengths and flaws, something we can’t say for other characters, such as Hinata.

In the Hyüga princess™’s case, her personality is mostly one dimensional as she is a thematic piece used to deepen Neji’s character. In case you haven’t noticed, she was constructed in opposition to him: She needs to be shy in order for Naruto to take pity on her when Neji insults her (as Neji is mostly arrogant and outspoken), she’s comically bad because Neji is a prodigy, she’s “a freak” (said by Naruto himself) because Neji isn't, she’s a slave owner because Neji is her slave, and so on –the only thing she has that wasn’t built in order to oppose her cousin was her infatuation with Naruto, something she makes a priority.

Everything we “know” about Hinata was mostly fandom-made, Hinata is shy and soft spoken, why is she considered “nice”? We never saw her worrying about anyone but Naruto: She was glad Kiba lost his match and offered Naruto the ointment to treat his wounds, she diminished her cousin’s trauma and endorsed the oppressive system of her clan, we never see her visiting Kiba after he returned from his mission to bring Sasuke back to Konoha (something we see Ino and Sakura do with their respective teammates, and while Hinata was recovering from Neji’s attack, she had enough strength to train and go see the Chünin Exams final stage, at no point is mentioned she was bed-ridden, as Sasuke had enough time to recover from Gaara’s attack before escaping the village), she thought about Naruto’s warm hand seconds after her cousin died and she was the only character not shown to be glad about Shikamaru being alive as we saw her pouting and thinking about how much she wanted to be beside Naruto. Furthermore, is there any scene in which she appears where she’s not thinking or talking about Naruto or where he is not the main focus?

How come a character designed to be nothing more than support (for Neji and Naruto, as her infatuation with him was built in order to have some oppositional force to the idea of “nobody likes him”, as Naruto has an unrequited love for Sakura during the whole duration of the manga) is “better written” than Sakura, who despite herself being also support she has far more thematically ground to move around (Kishimoto explores through her different themes, even if they aren’t relevant to the plot itself, such as romantical obsession, low self-esteem and the decisions/characteristics that are driven by it, female friendship, and few others).

Honest question: It’s her sad background reason enough to like Hinata? Do you truly need a “compelling” backstory in order to claim a character is “better written” than others? Sakura was bullied because she was shy, Hinata -being the Hyüga heir, wasn’t shown to suffer the same fate at the hands of her classmates. Think about it this way, while Sakura was being bullied and had to be helped by Ino, Hinata was being trained by her father and witnessing Hiashi torture her uncle while Neji cried, helpless! –and just a few years later, she used that exact knowledge to insult him! So she’s not really that nice after all!

What is it with the obsession of both fandoms with the idea of “potential” and how, apparently, they were “robbed of it” (what “potential”? When did Hinata even hint at improving her fighting techniques? She was defeated every single time! When did Sakura, who canonically has a smaller chakra pool than both Sasuke and Naruto, have the possibility of surpass literally Ashura and Indra’s reincarnations? Them having more panel time will mean absolutely nothing as we’ll see them doing the exact same thing we already see them do only twice as much. “Potential” is about exploring a latent ability of them, Hinata has none and Sakura’s chakra flux control was properly exploited!).

There’s more to say about this, but I’m honestly tired at this point…

Naruto:

it'd take him an eternity to realize that you harbour feelings for him. [i'm talking literal months of heavy blushing and stammering from your end whenever he'd do something that'd turn you flustered.]

despite being awfully oblivious, he still somehow manages to constantly invade your personal space without actually meaning to.

he turns awkward around you as soon as he finds out, though - especially if he likes you back.

bashful grins, blushing, constantly rubbing the back of his neck and fixing the collar of his t-shirt - he does it all, and he does it obviously so.

also sweats a lot and becomes profoundly tense and irked about the silliest of things, like you not wearing a bra underneath your t-shirt, even though you're doing nothing but chilling at home. you've tried to explain to him that you get uncomfortable if you wear one for longer periods of time, but he still gets oddly annoyed about it.

starts keeping his distance, especially in the evenings. the door to his bedroom ends up being shut all the way [you can even hear the lock click into place from time to time.]

he also stops his habit of barging into the bathroom whenever you're showering or washing your teeth, and instead knocks like, you know... a normal person?

overall, very jittery and constantly on edge. it's annoying as fuck.

that is, until he drinks. when he's drunk - he's the complete opposite.

he admits he likes you after he comes home from a night out with his friends. his sentences are messy and slurred and accentuated with dramatic hand gestures. he's telling you everything and nothing all at once.

“and i know i’ve been actin’ weird lately, but at the same time you’ve been actin’ hella weird, too. and i also know the reason as to why you’ve been actin' weird, ‘cause i know why i’ve been actin’ weird, and-”

he doesn't remember half of it by the morning.

but it still counts.

Kiba:

becomes an absolute menace after finding out you like him.

teases you a lot [even more than usual.]

this man can’t stop wiggling his eyebrows at you, sending you sly winks and equally as complacent smirks whenever you cast a glance in his general direction.

you think nothing of it at first, because he’s like that with everyone.

so he kicks it up a notch. until the words ‘i know you like me’ are nearly plastered on his forehead, and yet you still refuse to believe it.

part of the reason as to why, is to save yourself the embarrassment. he’d surely never let you live it down if you ever admitted how you actually felt about him.

he sees it as a game.

lives, breathes and exists for the mere sight of your red face and bashful demeanor.

walks around the apartment shirtless a lot, because one: he’s self-assured like that, and two: your ogling feeds his already humongous ego.

touches you a lot, and on purpose, too. he’s constantly ruffling your hair, pinching your cheek, poking your sides. 

by this point, you’re just waiting on him to smack your ass and call you his pretty property.

nothing brings him more joy than whenever he succeeds in striking a nerve. he’s laughing when you start shouting at him to shut up; is absolutely hollering when you throw your pillow across the room at him and miss.

he casually tells you himself that he knows you’re harbouring a crush on him while you’re trying to make pancakes at 3am; that naruto had spilled it by accident with that big-ass mouth of his, and that he’s long since grown bored of playing silly games with you.

“cut the bullcrap, cutie.”

he’s snickering at the sight of absolute horror to fall upon your face, but knows when to put an end to his teasing and comfort you properly.

so you talk.

you eat the pancakes and talk some more.

and then he fucks you on the kitchen counter.

Shikamaru:

knew you liked him from the second you started glancing at him for a tad bit longer than you’d usually do.

is surprisingly chill about it, and acts like he doesn’t care, even though he does.

he cares a lot, actually.

he’s sharp enough to know it’s because he likes you back, but stupid enough to not acknowledge it properly.

and is he planning to do anything about it? hell to the no.

sharing an apartment with you is comfortable, after all. you don’t nag him and let him live his life the way he wants to, so why the fuck would he ruin that?

still, the sight of your shyness and affection makes him wonder what it’d be like to actually be with you.

he starts lingering around you more often to just enjoy your presence whenever you’re cooking or reading a book. 

the silence doesn’t bother him.

he keeps inviting you to smoke with him, because ‘it’s better with company.’

uses the chance to get spoiled by you every now and then, under the pretense that he, once again, doesn’t care.

by spoiled, i mean him resting his head on your lap, quietly humming whenever you run your fingers through his hair.

he loves being lazy with you. it’s just so simple and natural.

he hates it when things are forced or rushed, and this is the exact opposite of that.

he’s high as fuck when he tells you he knows that you like him.

he says it with a little breathless chuckle. the tone is so soft and sleepy that you can’t even be nervous about it, really.

you’re both silent for a long while, just enjoying each other’s company.

he sighs.

“and, i dunno... i suppose what i wanted to say is that i like you, too.”

Sasuke:

he doesn’t know how to feel about it at first.

he starts paying closer attention to you, though. the way you dress, the way you speak, the way you behave.

silent appreciation.

though he always looks away whenever your gazes connect.

he tells himself that it’s just because he’s curious, but deep down he knows it’s a lie for whatever reason.

he doesn’t want to care, but goddamn he just can’t help himself.

secretly wonders why in the hell would a nice person like you ever fall for him.

he’s so complicated, after all.

sends you an occasional text if you’re out late, just to make sure you’re okay, but never replies after you tell him that you are.

it’s the little things with sasuke. you’ve gotta be satisfied with small affections, instead of grand gestures.

it takes him a long while to accept that he likes you back.

but goddamn, the sound of your loud laughter as you’re nearly wheezing like an idiot over the stupidest fucking meme surprisingly doesn’t annoy him. 

no, instead he can’t stop himself from quirking a smile in return.

he knows it’s game over from that moment onward.

it takes him yet another aeon to make a move.

he never tells you that he knew beforehand that you liked him. that he saw the text you sent to naruto, asking about him. 

he admits his feelings for you first; when you’re curled up in his bed from having a particularly bad nightmare, and his fingers are lazily stroking your spine in meek attempt of soothing you.

he pretends to be nonchalant about it.

even though he’s secretly hiding his smile against the top of your head, when you at long last tell him that you like him, too.

Setting: Right when they saw Sasuke for the first time again at Orochimaru's base and things get blown up.

Sasuke glared down at the group of Konoha shinobi, not liking how close the dark-haired one was getting to Naruto. Of course, Naruto only had eyes for Sasuke, but that didn't mean he wasn't aware of his surroundings.

“Naruto-san,” the poor imitation said, leaning a bit closer and pitching his voice down pointlessly since they were all shinobi and could hear him with ease, “based on the books I’ve been reading lately, your behavior would suggest that you are in love with Sasuke-san. Are you aware of how it looks to outsiders?”

And Naruto, the adorable idiot that he was, squinted all fox-like and asked, “Was it not obvious by now?”

Sasuke refused to look at Orochimaru and Kabuto because he did not want to see their reactions to such a revelation. Naruto had never said such a thing before, but it had become rather obvious as their time together had passed. And even now it was an even stronger motivation pushing him forward, keeping him as annoying but as loyal as ever.

“I thought I was being pretty obvious about it,” Naruto went on to mumble. “HEY, SASUKE!” he called out, poorly cutting through the tension like a rusty knife through paper.

“What?” he grumbled half-heartedly.

“YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU, RIGHT?!”

He willed away the flush that tried to heat his face up, and gave a sharp, “Hn.”

Naruto beamed his usual sunshine smile and looked toward the replacement, “See? He knows!”

“It looks romantic,” the imitation clarified. “Not just familial or friendly, but romantic. Is that the intention, because that is how it looks based on what I’ve read.”

And then Naruto’s head whipped back around, “HEY, SASUKE!” he called again.

“…What?”

“YOU KNOW I LOVE-LOVE YOU, RIGHT?!”

Sasuke’s head bobbed once. He’d known… but it was still nice to hear it said aloud anyway.

“Yeah, see, he knows,” Naruto said with a self-satisfied nod. “You think I’d be this annoying for just anyone?”

He then cut a look to Sakura, who stood with her mouth agape because she apparently hadn’t realized it yet.

Sasuke was tempted to confess in return, just to see what would happen.

I feel like people compare nobara to shoko in the trio because it’s easy because they are both women and are generally left out to focus on a duo (it’s just that for the gojo trio it’s gege himself that removes shoko in favor of a duo while for the current first years he’s pretty good at showing them as a trio fandom just loves to cut about nobara in favor of itafushi) but like other than that and a similar haircut they are nothing alike. They don’t have the same temperament, disposition or even the same kind of morality views. They are literally just both the only girls in the group. It’s not that big a deal because honestly the story isn’t written like one piece or naruto where the comparisons are built into the story and are so obvious. But it’s to the point that I’ve seen fics make nobara the more “medical” of the three just to draw a line between the two of them when Nobara’s characterization in canon makes it so very hard to believe that’d she’d carry around bandages for the boys or help them dress their wounds when her personality falls more in line with “I’d rather let them bleed out that get blood stains on my loafers, they are new’”

It’s just annoying because it’s soooo obvious that the person Nobara is most like from the OG trio is Gojo. Amongst the first years she’s the most similar to Gojo in everything expect societal importance and power scaling. Especially young gojo please that could have been her twin, they’d hate each other. They have the same superiority complex, the same attitude towards saving people, the same goofy outward nature that conceals a more deeply apathetic world view (not to say that shoko isn’t apathetic I’d say she is but it’s in a more blasé I couldn’t give less of a fuck kind of way and not the this is all beneath me apathy that gojo and Nobara have), the same lack of any real care for “the weak” that gojo is eventually forced to grow out of but I don’t think Nobara ever will. They even share similar ideas of what it means to be a jujutsu sorcerer. And they are both insane in the same exact way.

Like you can’t tell me that Gojo awakening didn’t scream crazy the same way Nobara’s game of poisonous chicken with a cursed womb did. It’s just the level of power is drastically different.

Come on look at them they are the same person with different levels of power.

Again there is nothing wrong with Shoko I’m just tired of seeing them paired up because of some arbitrary trio comparison. And not to say Shoko and Nobara can’t relate like I’m sure Shoko can sympathize with the feelings of being left behind by your closest friends. Even though with shoko it’s more an emotional leaving behind while with Nobara it’s more about them growing stronger faster than her.

I love Nobara and I like shoko just fine but I am so sick and tired of actual nuance being placed into who the boys are similar too while the girls are just a cursory version oh they are both the girls of the group. Like come on

4. were the romantic undertones between sasuke and naruto accidental or on purpose

i don’t feel like i know enough about the writer to be able to say buuuut speculatively… it kinda seems like they’re written gay by someone who doesn’t know he can be gay. like the fact that they apparently do get married to women but then their marriages are sad and unfulfilling (so i’ve heard) … and even in the og story that every other important thing in their lives is second to each other… idk. i do think kishimoto at least knows their bond is not brotherly.

7. i’m not sure …. honestly i do rly like fics where naruto decides not to pursue the role for his own sake. but for the purposes of story/canon? i think he has to be hokage. i think that’s kind of what the story is. he can’t be strong enough to save the world unless he can save sasuke and vice versa: that’s what his journey is during shippuden. convincing people over and over of the purity and power of his love for sasuke.

obviously the political system in naruto is crazy fucked, but that aside, i think the plot is about proving his idealism is realistic and his promises aren’t false: his love can save sasuke and so his love can change the world.

9. naruto fandom words ur allergic to

hmmm i don’t really get into discourse that much and i’ve only been in the fandom for like a month so idk. but i hate when people are like “why was X behaving illogically” when it’s pretty clear their reasons are just grief and mental illness (see: almost every uchiha)

in fanfics i hate when they drastically change naruto or sasuke for no reason especially if it’s to make them “seem” more like a top or bottom. i also hate when one of them is given buckets of pity and sadness and the other ones trauma is totally ignored. or when one of them is made way more crazy and the other is normal. obviously details have to change for aus but i like when it’s balanced and both characters have a reasonable amount of angst and quirkiness

i hate when people think sasuke is into murder. he very openly does not like it and goes out of his way to help others. or when people say he doesn’t feel empathy/care about anything. it’s canon that he feels more intensely than most people and that’s why he’s the way he is. and i hate when people make naruto uncharismatic or overly dumb. he’s oblivious and a little annoying but his people skills are his best superpower.

Alternative Canon Ships

I think something that annoys me and a lot of other people about the canon ships is that they weren’t the only options by a country mile. So I wanted to finally put my money where my mouth is and take a crack at pairing the Konoha 12 without changing the manga.

Anyone I didn’t mention here should be presumed single in my AU because I either think they’re better single or I don’t care about who they end up with.

Option 1

Naruto and Sasuke - The entire series is about them learning to understand each other and ending the cycle of hatred by coming together (in holy matrimony). Naruto wouldn’t have a character arc without Sasuke and Sasuke’s character arc is incomplete without Naruto. I don’t think I need to explain how they act as foils and compliments for each other or how they’re willing to go to great lengths for each other or how they show time and time again how much they value each other.

Sakura and Rock Lee - We really went through the chunin exams for nothing. They have very little screen time together, but what we have is good enough for it to at least make sense. Rock Lee is clearly willing to both wait and die for her and Sakura has a mini arc about learning not to judge people on appearances and to respect him that culminates in her giving him flowers in the hospital. Worst case scenario it needs to get the NaruHina treatment and have a movie made about why they came together in the end.

Shikamaru and Choji - I’ve already said that I don’t care for any of the inter-Ino-Shika-Cho ships, but they interact with too few characters for me not to bring them up here. They’re childhood friends, they obviously care for and respect each other, they have complimentary personalities, and Shikamaru stands up for Choji on multiple occasions. They don’t get too much attention in shippuden because Choji and Ino were shafted, but they at least continue to support each other when they are shown interacting.

(This is where we start losing a sturdy foundation because the characters don’t have enough screen time spent interacting with anyone unmentioned. From here on out the bar is in hell and I’m only pairing the characters off because it would’ve been expected.)

Ino and Sai - A lot of people shit on this ship and I get why (Ino is caught in Sakura’s shadow and Sai was literally Sasuke’s replacement in team 7, so it’s easy to see them as discount SasuSaku). However, the ship isn’t the most unbelievable in canon. Ino has shown that she has genuine feelings for Sai and they at least interact with each other.

Hinata and Shino - Hinata would make sense with either of her teammates, but I’m choosing Shino because he makes more sense. They’re similarly introverted types, they get along, Shino has been shown to have faith in her abilities (I’m not saying Kiba doesn’t, but Shino’s more consistent about it), and I think it would be fitting for Shino (who’s insecure about being unnoticeable) to end up with someone who would prioritize him if he ends up with anyone at all.

Option 2

Naruto and Sakura - These two would’ve made more sense, “red herring” and “pursued her for rivalry” my ass. Both are ready and willing to make sacrifices for each other, they interact a lot and most of it is positive (we aren’t mentioning the slapstick because I’m not having that asinine argument), there were hints throughout shippuden of Sakura returning his feelings, they have complimentary personalities, Sakura ending up with Naruto is beneficial to her character, Naruto ending up with Sakura is in-line with his character arc and theme, both stop to consider each other’s feelings on multiple occasions, Sakura attempts to help Naruto in any way she can on a regular basis, (even if I hate how often this is mentioned) Sakura is explicitly compared to Kushina, there are more hints at their relationship than I care to list here, and there’s symbolism for a flower under the sun/heaven and earth.

Sasuke and Karin - SasuKarin is the sister ship to Naruto and Sakura because of its parallels (the Uzumaki has feelings first, the girls are both compared to Kushina, the girls both act as support and medics to the boys who take on leadership roles, the Uzumaki wants to protect/see their love interest’s smile, etc). As for reasons: Sasuke has been shown to respect Karin and her abilities, Karin loves Sasuke because he was the first person to show her kindness, Karin has put her life on the line for Sasuke on multiple occasions, both are willing to go to great length for the other, and both unlocked abilities for the sake of saving the other.

Ino and Sai - I’ve already explained this.

Shikamaru and Temari - This ship isn’t perfect, but I think it makes enough sense for most people to not be upset (the only people I’ve seen complaining about it are people who hate Shikamaru or ship something else). They always share at least one scene when Temari enters the story, there are hints about it being romantic, and makes more sense in canon than many of the other options.

Choji and Hinata - This is, admittedly, a stretch, but it isn’t as much as a stretch as ChoKaru so I’m considering this still in the safe zone. The two both have shy and sweet personalities that make it easy to imagine them getting along, both struggle with overcoming their low self-esteem and taking action themselves, both care deeply for their friends, Hinata fits with what Choji wanted romantically in his infinite tsukuyomi dream, and both have the shared idea of maintaining kindness even in a ruthless shinobi world.

Bonus

Naruto and Hinata - This ship was fine, even with its lack of screen time, but the Last and Boruto ruined it, so we’ll just pretend that didn’t happen. Naruto learned to not judge and respect Hinata, Hinata has multiple scenes where she snaps Naruto out of spiraling (the proud failure speech is still peak NaruHina), Naruto stands up for Hinata, Hinata takes a lot of inspiration from Naruto and his determination, and Hinata cares about Naruto’s wellbeing and feelings so much it’s a near irrevocable part of her character. With nothing changed it would still be just as flawed and clumsy as in canon, but it wouldn’t be unforgivable.

Hinata and Rock Lee - Again, I’m stretching canon for a Hinata ship, but I think there’s enough ground to stand on to at least mention it. That ground being a weird amount of parallels. They both have experience being in Neji’s shadow, both of them are untalented and make up for their shortcomings through hard work, both care about the people they love to a self-sacrificial degree, both are true to their word, both of them admire Naruto (join the club), both of them has a teacher that acts as a parental figure, and both of them have unrequited love because the target of their affection has feelings for someone more conventionally attractive than them(though Hinata gets more conventionally attractive as the series goes on so…).

Ino and Choji - It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. They support each other as teammates, Ino could help Choji be more confident, Ino getting with Choji could symbolize her getting past her superficiality, and they don’t have opposing personalities or beliefs as far as I can tell.

Sasuke and No One - I’m just putting this here to remind everyone that there’s an argument to be made about Sasuke being better off without a relationship. I absolutely get why he was paired off and I probably would too if I was in charge of the epilogue (it can be an indicator of him and the clan healing, plus an Uchiha child/the sharingan is a fun idea to mess around with), but him remaining single also makes sense. He states how he’s disinterested in romance and he just doesn’t have that many working potential love interests in canon. Yes, there’s Sakura but more than a movie could cover would have to change before the two of them could reasonably work together and it might still ruin her character.

“What did you get in number seven?” Sasuke asked, scratching his head.

He suspected he had messed something up in the middle of the proceedings, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Perhaps they had been studying for too long and it would be better to take a rest and actually spend time together — finals had never seemed so annoying to Sasuke.

A frown took over his face when he realized his boyfriend had not replied. He looked up, only to find the blonde idiot fully enthralled by his own right hand.

“Dobe,” he called, but to no avail.

Sasuke sighed, took his eraser and threw it at Naruto’s head.

“Hey! What was that for?” The blonde blinked at him.

“What are you doing?” Sasuke rested his chin on one of his hands — whatever it was, it should be more interesting than the stupid practice test.

“Huh?”

“You were staring at your hand as if it contained the secrets of the universe.”

Naruto blushed and hid his hands under the table. “No-nothing.”

This is promising.

“That’s awfully suspicious.”

“It’s none of your business!” Which meant it absolutely was related to Sasuke.

“Is that so?” He couldn’t contain his smirk. “I thought all of your business was my business.”

“Not this.”

“Dobe, we both know you’re gonna tell me anyway.”

Naruto pouted, and all Sasuke wanted was to kiss him, but that wouldn’t provide him answers.

“You’re gonna make fun of me.”

“I won’t. Come on, tell me.”

“I-” Naruto squirmed where he was sitting. “I’ve been thinking about the red string of fate. And like, I had been- you think-” He looked at Sasuke and quickly averted his eyes. “I thought I might be able to see the… string tying us together.”

“You think we’re soulmates or something?” Sasuke asked flabbergasted.

Naruto shrugged and lowered his eyes. “There’s just something… I kinda keep feeling this pull towards you and I wondered-” He shook his head widely. “I know it’s silly.”

“It’s sweet, the idea of it.” Sasuke smiled reassuringly, and Naruto sighed relieved.

“Isn’t it! Even if it’s not real.” Naruto laughed. “Just my mind trailing off.” He cleared his throat. “Can- could we take a break? I’m- I think I need to use the toilet.”

Naruto rushed out of the room and Sasuke took a moment to stare at his left hand. His boyfriend was taking his sweet time coming back, so his mind started spinning to the point he swore he too could feel the pull Naruto mentioned.

He ended up rummaging through his closet until he found something useful. The old shoelaces weren’t anything special but the color was right so he occupied himself braiding and twisting until he had a pair of makeshift red bracelets.

When his boyfriend returned, Sasuke was already wearing one around his left wrist.

“What’s that, teme?” Naruto squinted at him.

He blushed, averting his gaze briefly from Naruto’s blue, piercing one.

He could only draw in a harsh breath before mumbling, “Redstringoffate.”

The blonde’s head tilted in confusion, then his eyes widened. He stretched his arm towards Sasuke eagerly.

Sasuke promptly tied the other lace around Naruto’s wrist, fingers trembling slightly.

The embarrassment he felt, though, vanished when he caught the sight of Naruto’s blinding smile, soon followed by a cheerful laughter.

Sasuke’s own lips curled upwards and-

As his boyfriend pulled him in a sloppy, chuckling kiss — his skin still flushed and so, so warm — Sasuke knew that if such a thing like fate did exist, if people were truly tied to their soulmate, for him that could only be Naruto.

I wanna know why you're still reading JJK not because it's bad but bc I love seeing you rant about things you love

NATEjajajaaj tbh, I complain about everything I like and everything that I’ve said thus far about JJK, I still feel strongly about because I KNOW that it used to be written way better before but despite all of that, I can honestly say that I still enjoy it a ton. It’s so fun!? I can’t look away?!? I haven’t felt this way about a manga, especially a shounen of all things, in… I really don’t know (I kind of don’t like to count csm since it’s still a seinen to me…). Jjk is joining the ranks of my love for Naruto 🙈……. As absurd as that might sound, it makes me feel nostalgic despite not being that old!!!

It definitely deserves all of its praise as well and I’m not just saying this just because I’m a fan. If it didn’t, I’d definitely say otherwise. I’m glad that everyone is fucking with it! It just made the  Guinness world book of records the other day, I kind of want to throw up 😭. Knowing how Gege’s been writing the story lately, he probably doesn’t give a shit. He just wants to finish JJK as soon as possible so that he could get back to doing fuck all. Well… good for him. But, I’m genuinely glad that I got into it! The fans are annoying but that’s to be expected from a mainstream shounen unfortunately. It’s so nice ignoring them though. That’s the only way you’ll be able to enjoy something as big of a series like this tbh.

All of the characters that I’ve liked or loved never got to the point where they were written horribly like, I can say that Gege has remained pretty consistent in the characterization department, which is a plus, since whenever I get into stuff, I tend to pay a lot of attention to things like this especially. Yuuji is still Yuuji, Sukuna is still that petty old bitch, Gojo remained as silly and courageous till the very end (even tho I still wished that Gege could’ve focused more on Gojo’s trauma… it would’ve been nice to see him overcome the burden of being the apex of the jujutsu society… he was so much more than an idol and he still died believing that that was all that he was. Someone who was so far removed from humanity that he continued to tell himself that this would be all that he ever was and that even if his friends and peers truly did love and respected him, they’ll never learn to “understand,” him because he’s so much more powerful than they were. Their lives would never be the same. And he could never make any of them truly happy in the end. I really HATED THAT Gege let that man go to that DAMN airport still holding onto to his loneliness like this 😭😭😭… and then when you think back to that one scene in the story where various other characters were asked about their feelings towards Gojo, and all most of them had to say was that “he’s the strongest,” I just… :(… Obviously, he’s well respected despite his personality but 😭… Gege, you will burn for this-

I do enjoy how ridiculous JJK can get as well. People can talk badly about it all they want but you can’t say that it’s predictable lmfao. This looney toons ass plot 😭!!! I’m kind of here for the shenanigans. It’s been pretty repetitive as of lately though. Mainly the whole Sukuna vs everyone thing that’s been going on starting from Kashimo (his dumbass) right after Gojo’s death… but it’s okay. Outside of my favs being slaughtered left and right 👎🏾☠️. You can tell that Gege is just rushing through the story now though :/. I kind of can’t wait for it to end but I’m still enjoying the ride until the wheels fall off! I want Yuuji and the rest of the gang to be able to enjoy the rest of their lives, man… Gege wrote JJK with a chip on his shoulder 😭.

This is a sasunaru modern college au I’ve been working on for ages. But I’m currently stuck, so I'm gonna post an excerpt here for funsies. Enjoy!

“I am not jealous”, Sasuke snapped at Neji, who was lowering himself to the floor to get into position for his post-spar meditation.

“I didn’t say anything”, the Hyuga replied, crossing his legs and closing his eyes. You’d think the guy would prefer to do this particular task anywhere else but their university’s fitness centre, but apparently, he liked the challenge of having to block out environmental sounds. It does help that they picked the earliest time slot so there were only a handful of people in the gym either sparring, making use of the equipment, or in the boxing corner which is where Sakura would usually be in the afternoon, trying to drive the bags of their hooks after a stressful day of medical school.

Sasuke and Neji preferred to just spar on the mats that were usually occupied by the judo and aikido practitioners on weekend afternoons. Naruto would typically be joining them around this time. Taking Neji’s spot against Sasuke despite having already spent 30 minutes on the treadmill. But Naruto’s stamina had always been monstrous in its expanse.

Instead, for the 3rd day in a row, he was standing in the gymnastic area by the bars, watching in awe as Gaara Sabaku showed off another flip.

“Just call him over”, came the exasperated scolding from the Hyuga who still had his eyes closed.

Sasuke just let out a disgruntled ‘tch’.

“What is he doing here this early anyway?”, the Uchiha narrowed his eyes at the twirling redhead, “He always trains at noon with his brother. Is he even supposed to be here without his coach?”

Neji’s face scrunches up, and Sasuke can’t help but feel a little triumph at having gotten a reaction.

“He doesn’t need a spotter just to use the beams. He’s 21, not 11. Go call Naruto over because we have 40 minutes before Lee shows up”

It’s uncharacteristic of Sasuke to have a desire to pester someone till they indulged him, but he was particularly annoyed this week and was itching for a good fight, which Naruto usually delivered.

Sai called it sexual frustration and ‘advised’ him to get dicked down already.

If Sai wasn’t one of Naruto’s friends, Sasuke would have been more than happy to show him his gratitude for the ‘advice’.

To say that he was surprised to show up at Naruto’s apartment 5 months ago to see Sai, sitting cross-legged on the kitchen island grinning at him (If it could be called that) over a bowl of cereal, would have been an understatement. Sasuke had been very quick to ask his best friend for an explanation

“I thought you didn’t even like him?!” , he hissed.

“Initially!”, . Naruto sputtered half- heartedly.

“Then why has he set his easel with its half-finished art project on your balcony?”

“He said the fresh air helped his imagination”

“Naruto”

“Oh, the moving-in thing. Yeah, let me tell you about his shithead of a guardian Danzo….”

Sasuke has rarely ever actually met anyone with a childhood as abhorrent as Naruto’s but Sai gave him a run for his money.

“And that’s not even half the shit the bastard’s done. Sai’s trying to cut the dude out, but he froze all of the money in his account cause the control freak wouldn’t let him open one under his name even though Sai is already 20”

“Usuratonkachi, get to the point”

“Oh, right. He didn’t have any money, and he needed a place to stay….”

Sasuke massaged his eyebrows down to the bridge of his nose. “Are you going to pick up every stray you find, dobe?”

Their conversation is interrupted by a loud indignant yowl from Kurama who’d been lounging by the window listening to their argument. He gets up and gracefully weaves through the potted plants Naruto had arranged on the ledge, leaps onto the floor, and canters over to the blonde, meowing loudly like a whiny spoiled child.

It doesn’t help that Naruto immediately melts at the sight of him and picks the cat up to hold it lovingly to his chest. “He didn’t mean it, Kurama. You’re not a stray. You’re a powerful little beast aren’t you”

Seemingly appeased, the Maine Coon gives Sasuke one last scathing look before nuzzling further into Naruto’s arms, purring when Naruto gives him a distracted scratch under his jaw.

“I could help, and I did”, the blonde says in such a matter-of-fact manner that it made Sasuke feel ashamed that he ever asked.

He looks at the cat waving its tail as he nuzzled into Naruto and remembers the snarling dirty little creature it used to be 2 years ago.

He also thinks about the lonely little malnourished boy sitting alone in a crowded cafeteria with nothing to eat and he thinks about a refrigerator currently filled with home-cooked meals Naruto could now enjoy to his heart's content, knowing they were made by someone who cared about him.

He thinks about the bare, cold, tiny room of the second-floor apartment, that the blonde had lived in for the majority of his childhood, with its doors eternally locked by foster parents who couldn’t care less and he thinks about the pictures and paintings that currently hung all around the 21-year-old’s home with a front door that was always open to welcome anyone who crossed its path.

Sasuke is broken out of his memories by the sound of heavy sneakers squeaking from the friction against the gym floor.

“Hey! Sasuke! Sorry! I got distracted. Gaara was doing this cool move-“

“It's fine, dobe. Just get in position already.”

“Oh, Gaara said he wants to join us in the mornings from now on. Said the company was better. I think he just likes that there are fewer people”

“Wonderful”, Sasuke says through gritted teeth. He could practically feel Neji vibrating with barely held-back laughter behind him, “Just start already. We have 15 minutes till Lee gets here”

It's not that any of them disliked Lee. He was their friend, and he hung out with them often. But Lee was also the university’s star athlete, and being around while he was training was begging for a death wish via exhaustion through being roped into one of his intense workouts. The only person capable of managing Lee was coach Guy himself.

Naruto immediately sets himself into a solid stance, “HA! I’ll beat you in 10 minutes”

Sasuke couldn’t help the smile edging at the corner of his lips, “You can try idiot”

What do you think of Shikamaru?

To actually get into it though I do have a rather up and down relationship with my feelings of Shikamaru. Overall I would have to say I do not like him, but my feelings for him have always bounced around.

In a positive light I really truly adore his fighting style, he genuinely has one of my favourites. His battles are always very entertaining to watch, and I enjoy how he works with his teammates. It’s lovely to watch Ino-Shika-Chou work together and fully rely on each other rather than believe that one in particular has to end up carrying the fight, or is undeniably more powerful. They truly are a team and they work together so seamlessly, I love it. Even Shikamarus battles on his own or with other people than his team are incredibly entertaining to me. I genuinely love his battle strategy and his analyzation during fights. I think he’s generally pretty cool.

HOWEVER my issues with him do overweigh what I like about him. He obviously is incredibly sexist which genuinely pisses me off. I also think he ends up getting rather annoying with his apathy towards most things, his “what a drag” phrase just ends up getting bothersome to me. I also have issues with how he treats Naruto, however I think most of my issues are with the fandom ignoring canon (the manga) and acting as if he is best friends with Naruto and has always been there for him, when he wasn’t, and actively contributed to Narutos mistreatment as a child. Another issue I have is something else that is rather tied to his fanbase which is the way they treat his revenge for Asumas death. I understand why he would want to kill Hidan/Kakuzu for killing his sensei, however he was not entirely justified in doing so. Asuma was on duty, and it was most genuinely a serious risk in his job that he was clearly willing to take. Shikamaru was on his way to get back at the two without village permission until the very last second.. He was not supposed to go because it was so clearly just a part of Asumas job that had to be accepted, and a properly planned way to take out the Akatsuki had to be developed before action. The only reason he got support was because Tsunade and Kakashi understood that whether he was aided or not he was going to leave whether it meant becoming a rogue ninja or not, they did not want to lose Ino-Shika-Chou, plus they did want to get rid of the Akatsuki which is why they sent him with Kakashi and various support. The Akatsuki certainly would have been handled in a different manner had he not been persistent on leaving. Now I don’t blame him for this, however what ends up bothering me is not particularly him, but his fanbase. I’ve often seen Shikamaru fans praise him and talk of how justified he was for avenging Asuma (again, a man who knew the risk and was on duty), yet will also hold the opinion that Sasuke was not justified in killing Danzou or wanting revolution against Konoha. Someone whose actions and thoughts are absolutely justified to the core, and is right about everything he criticizes about Konoha. Do I understand why Shikamaru wanted to kill Hidan and Kakuzu? Absolutely. Was it justified? Mmmm not particularly. So it really just bugs me the way the fanbase will treat Shikamarus revenge vs Sasukes revenge. There are certainly issues I have with his actual character which made me not like him (heavy emphasis on the sexism), but interacting with his fanbase made me dislike him even more, sorry. Although I understand some of his appeal, which is why I said I had originally really gone back and forth on my feelings for him a lot.

Plus I genuinely think he would understand being pied, he’d just think it was a drag and annoying. He’d probably get it though. LOL.

[Naruto rant/criticism]

In the recent days I’ve really been having a naruhina hate brainrot. I’ve actually always disliked that pair since the first days I started watching this anime. But the more I think about this ship and the more I dislike it and see less reasons to enjoy it.

Yeah I used to ship ss in the past, because even if Sasuke never has been interested at least he was Sakura’s teammate and had plenty of missions together. (Well I learnt from my mistakes but that’s not the topic of this post!)

However, what do Naruto and Hinata have seriously? For being characters who got married and one of them being the mc their interactions were barely existent and Naruto having basic human decency toward her isn’t a proof of him having romantic feelings. I still literally can’t picture him being on a relationship with her either, no matter how much I try. I always used to find this ship painfully bland, boring, tasteless. I would rate it a solid 1/10 at best, and I’m on a good mood rn.

I got spoiled very early that they were going to be together at the end and even despite that when I watched the last episodes it blew my mind when I saw them going to be married all of sudden. It was so hard to believe. If they were so planned to be together since the beginning they could’ve at least given them some development idk it’s not even that complicated I don’t ask Kishimoto to write peak romance. Don’t even talk to me about "The Last" lol that movie is just laughable. It’s basically Naruto into a genjutsu and Sakura forcing him, guilt tripping him to love Hinata and telling him how much "he deserves her". No sorry but I can’t take this sh*t seriously.

Another thing, when I still was into the first episodes of the series I used to think that Hinata will have a development, she will be strong and all but I was apparently wrong as hell because she’s just as pointless, irrelevant but more annoying and her whole existence stills revolve around N-Naruto-kun 🥺👉👈. The shippuden era was the moment when she seriously started to get on my nerves. She reached a new low when Neji frustratingly f*cking died for her the the only thing she was thinking about was N-Naruto-kun’s big warm and manly hand. The audacity lmao. I would be so ashamed to myself at her place. Also there’s nothing wrong with her being a housewife, raising kids is far from being an easy task by the way but she could’ve at least done something for her clan as the "Hyuga princess", especially about the oppression and slavery that endured the secondary branch through generations and that caused the death of her cousin in front of her. But no, she got married to N-Naruto-kun, so it doesn’t matter, damn why am I even surprised, that was the only goal of her life anyway. That cute uwu girl’s """"development"""" disappointed me a lot, to say the least, I saw a lot of potential in her not gonna lie.

Poor her, she existed only for the sake of a ship that happened just for the dull sequel also more commonly known as "Boruto".

I needed to speak with you about something as soon as you are free.” Anko smiled “She’s free now” You glared at Anko “I was still eating.” you mumbled under your breath. Kakashi stepped back “Great, if you’re free now, we could go and talk.” Anko’s face shifted “Oh you meant not here?” Kakashi blushed “yeah, official Hokage business.” You tilted your head and stood up. “Anko, can you get this in a to-go and drop this off at my place, I don’t want to keep Lady tsunade waiting.” Anko nodded “Yeah, sure. I’ll bring it by in a little while.” Kakashi followed you out of Ichiraku’s, “So did the Hokage say what she was needing to discuss.” Kakashi didn’t respond as he lead you through the leaf village. As the two of you made it to the Hokage manison, you paused waiting for Kakashi to say something. “Hatake! What’s with you?” Kakashi turned around holding his hand out “Just come with me please.” You sighed putting your hand into Kakashi’s hand. As he lead you into the Hokage manison and up the stairs, anxiety began to build. “Was lady Tsunade mad about something that happened while they were on their mission? Was she sending them out on their next mission already? He’s never been this quiet towards you before. But he’s also never held your hand this long either.” Kakashi opened the Hokage’s office door allowing you to walk in first.

As you stood in a semi-darkened room waiting for the chair to turn and Tsunade to speak to you, Kakashi shut the door and walked towards you. “Lady Tsunade?” Kakashi laughed “I may have not told the full truth. It was me who wanted to speak with you about our mission, I’m the one who asked you here.” Your palms became sweaty and your face turned a crimson red. “Oh, did I do something wrong? I followed everything you planned.” Kakashi pulled his mask down from his face. “You didn’t do anything wrong but you were acting like something’s been bothering you the last few missions we’ve done together. And I noticed you didn’t act differently towards Naruto or Yamato but were different when I was around so I figured I’d ask Lady Tsunade for her office to discuss privately if something was wrong.” “Uh..” Your stomach became nauseous and you became hot. “I.. “

Kakashi smiled. “I also haven’t seen you many times with your mask down either.” Kakashi echoed in laughter “I don’t take it off when out in public.
