I have a lot of feelings about the Durin Family, Fili in Particular

---Howdy folks it is that time of year again where i go absolutely feral for Fili Durin. He is underappreciated and tumblr has addressed that but i feel an URGE to add to the discourse so here I am. This post is not done, fyi. I will add more to it later.

It's 10pm/22:00. I just got home from class. I'm waiting for my ramen water to boil. There is a fireplace and some holiday lights. Let's have a (fireside)chat.

First of all, the constant tying of Fili and Kili together?? Like I get it. Merry and Pippin parallels. I love parallels (looking at you, George), but come on. Chill, just a tad. I know Tolkein didn't give you much to go by, but he didn't even write tauriel into the books or Bolg and yall ran with that anyways. Use your creative brains, pls, I'm actually begging you.

ANYWAYS. Have them develop separately even if only a little. Kili is the younger one, literally viewed younger bc he has the smallest itty bitty beard. He is not the heir, he is the spare, and could have some deep rooted personal insecurities about that as a result. He may feel that he deeply has to prove himself to Thorin bc he does not have a set role in the future like Fili does. Kili gets his romance with Tauriel, which--khgf;ushfw;e uneneccary, but I can appreciate the attempt to broaden the target market and appeal to a romance audience even if the previews did not hint at that happening at all so it would not have been a marketable trait per say but I digress. Again with the parallels of forbidden romance, poor Legolas still does not get any, we know, he was not even in the books really either, let's move on.

Kili is babied by the company, needs to prove himself, his mother made him promise to return to him so he is still deeply in the "coming of age" side of things (a lot of the company is, but that's a topic for another word vomit fireside chat). He begins to realize that he might like elves which goes against his family and he was already the spare, might as well go all in and fall in love with an elf. Fine. I can deal with that. But let's see more of Kili messing up, more so than just the trolls. Let's see him make silly goofy mistakes more. The company always tries to keep him out of the line of fire by making him an archer (heh) and keeping him off the front lines. They do everything to protect him, bc Dis is a terrifying woman, ansd if she made Kili promise to return to her, dammit, the company will return him to her if it is the last thing they do. Kili likely spends less time with Thorin and Dwalin than his brother, so here he is, questioning his own self worth and if he belongs in the party and his own abilities while coming of age and sticking out from his family even more, so why not rebel a little? why not be an archer which is not as glorified, why not consider shaving to meet cross cultural beauty standards, why not date the elf (dammit, I'm convincing myself for Tauriel's presence and I hate that). He's trying his best and messing up along the way, and is INNOCENT. Completely. He is aware of his ancestry and what happened, but he and Bilbo are the two being narrated to when telling of the Durin family history, and as a result, the differences in dwarven / hobbit culture could be explored further. Thorin has a little kiddo to watch out for, and maybe is softer around, because even Thorin knows Kili is young, maybe even too young to be here but if they didn't let him come he would have snuck after them, so we get to see a more forgiving, family-man Thorin who we do not see anywhere else (and yes we get that at the end of the movie but I'm getting to my critique of the (I almost called it a keldabe wrong fandom) forehead touch with a name I cannot recall later).

Onto his brother. Fili is the heir, okay. So, that means that he is likely raised very differently from Kili. Whereas Kili may have had some time to play and be a kid (as much as they could in the Blue Mountains as refugees, anyways), Fili likely was given no such privilege. He followed Thorin around like a lost puppy, watching his every move and trying to imitate it, because he knew he would have to do Thorin's job someday. Even if Thorin did get married / have a kid / etc there would likely still be a window where Fili was in charge before Thorin's kid came of age, and as the years went on, the chances of that happening diminished, and so Fili threw himself more and more into his crown-prince-studies. Maybe a little obsessively, just like his uncle, who had practically stepped into the role as father. Because Fili thought he had to be Thorin. Thorin, meanwhile, saw the King that Fili could be, and that King was so much better than him. Fili grew up humble as a result of them all being refugees, something Thorin did not have to learn until much later and even then he never fully got it. Fili was kind, because he saw the suffering of his people, and understood how large of a difference a small act could make. Fili also had the teachings of Thorin drilled into him, because Thorin's problem was that whenever he saw Fili, he also saw Frerin. Frerin was Thorin's younger brother, just as blond as Fili, and (I'm assuming) played a roll in Fili's name (both starting with F). Frerin died at the Battle of Azanulbizar, and Thorin remembers that battle, he remembers losing his little brother. He can understand the fear that Fili feels whenever the company encounters a fight because he has felt the same in the worst of ways. But, because Thorin understands, he pushes Fili to be better than him. Even if that pushing is too much, too hard, too fast, too young--Thorin knows that Fili can be better than him, and Thorin does not want Fili to suffer as he has suffered, so he does everything in his power to prepare Fili for what is to come, and because Thorin loves him, that is all he does. He pours that love out as motivation and pushes Fili to do more, do everything, and do it better than he did. Fili, being young, does not realize this. He just sees it as Thorin preparing him to be king, and quite brutally at that, but Thorin is the closest thing he has to a father, Fili is not going to question it, not for anything, except for his little brother. And that just hurts Thorin, because he knows that, had he had the chance, he would have died to save Frerin at Azanulbizar. He knows Fili would do the same for Kili, but they are both so, so young. Thorin fears he could lose them both in one go, if he is not careful. So he is harsh, he scares them, he is forceful, because they do not have time for care and coddling, that won't keep them safe.

Whereas the company sees Kili as carefree and fun, Fili is cold, like his uncle. He is stone, and observant, and polite. He has to be Thorin, AND everything that Thorin is not. It is an impossible task, but he has to try. That is what is expected of him, not just by his mother and uncle, but by the entire people that is behind him, waiting for him to ascend to be king. He does not get a choice. The only one who can pull him out of that rut is his brother, with whom he actually feels like he can be what he is -- barely older than a kid.

Im gonna let that sink in for a second. They're CHILDREN.

anyways.

So, Kili gets his romance plot. It's cute and it parallels. And I've established that Kili must prove himself, and Fili will bend over backwards to make Thorin happy, which likely also extends to Dis, his mother.

I imagine Dis gave Kili the river rock to come back home, and she told Fili "be safe, don't be stupid, etc etc" but HIGHLIGHTED "take care of your brother", and Thorin does the same in the movies.

So, when Kili galavants up the bridge to open the gate after the party does a little slip and slide down the river, Fili naturally goes with. He sees that Kili is about to get shot. And Fili, who knows above all else he has to be king and he has to take care of Kili, just does the normal heroric thing and jumps in front, and he gets shot.

He is chastized for it, for being stupid, but overall they both are thanked for getting them out of the mess, and there is no time to waste because the company has to leave, and Fili (like what Kili did albeit maybe with more conviction) will not let others help him, or show weakness. So Fili continues on, poisoned, and Kili has the guilt of knowing his brother took an arrow meant for him. Fili must suffer the consequences of being a hero, and Kili must suffer the consequences of being the youngest, and feeling guilty for not taking responsibility for his own actions.

This all boils over to a fight where Kili tells Fili that "I made the choice to go up there, I didn't ask you to intervene!" because dammit Kili wants to be treated like an adult and FIli just took that away from him, again.

Fili, naturally, retorts, "I just did what I had to, because you know what? mom didn't tell me to come home--all she told me, all everyone ever tells me--is to take care of you! So I don't matter, not to this family, not in the same way you do. You're a son. I'm a prince."

Which, ouch. Slap in the face to Kili, and maybe the company overhears. Kili feels slighted, but also maybe is starting to understand, he can be a kid, Fili cannot. And Fili, meanwhile, is about to break from the weight of expectations that feels heavier than the lonely mountain ever could.

So, Kili stays with Fili when they get to Bard's, because it is what Fili would have done for him. Thorin is pissed, but lets it go, because Kili isn't Fili, and ouch, again.

I imagine Bofur helps quite a bit, he has a kind soul and listens better than most, and while Fili is delirious with fever Bofur talks him through it. Kili gets to be more coherent with Tauriel, and we get to see if their relationship actually holds up outside of a "she saved my life I love her" style of interaction which bleh is cliche as all get out.

and PLEASE when the dwarves do get out of Bard's house, they get to actually help Bard deal with the dragon. I read a fic a long time ago (if I find it I'll link it and the author below) where Fili had to be Bard's arrow anchor instead of Bard's son and I just chef's kiss. The dwarves who are left get to help the humans, and they feel more sympathy for them. Maybe they witness more death, and so when the dwarves do turn their backs on the humans later, Fili, Kili, Bofur, Bifur & crew are like "wait wtf they have suffered enough" unlike their future indifference we see in the movie.

and THEN all the dwarves arrive at the mountain, and Fili and Kili actually get welcomed home like the family they ARE, but it's stunted, because something is wrong with Thorin. He is glad to see Kili and Fili, but barely spares them a glance. They've heard the rumors and stories, of gold sickness. They begin to wonder, and we get to see them talk (probably with Bilbo) about the concept in secret where everyone is looking for the arkenstone. We get to see Kili with his hero worship refuse to believe Thorin would fall under a gold thrall. We get to see Fili, who is afraid of becoming like Thorin, too scared to enter the treasury unless immensly pressured to do so, and even then someone is always with him, because he worries. He still holds the ruby Thorin threw at him, and he keeps it in his pocket. He holds it so tight the edges cut his palm, and the pain seems to distract him from the wealth that surrounds him. I always wondered if Thorin gave Fili that ruby because he was the heir, or the only dwarf with so much gold about their person, with his hair. It was what Thorin saw first, not because it was his nephew, but because he looked like the very thing that already clawed Thorin down into his own demise.

AND NOW the war starts. and this needs to be another post bc ffs I'm losing my shit this is much too long.

Trip: Just a little guy-- kind of annoying but I love him anyways, he's my big brother <3

Mayweather: Kind of annoying but I'll learn to like him I think

Pholx: He's so silly I love him

Sato: Actually she's SO cool I wanna be friends with her so bad

Reed: HE'S SO FINE PLEASE I NEED HIM AAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAUUUHHGUUUUUUAAAAAHAHHGUUUUHUGGGGHHHUHHHU

Kate watched you as you danced, her eyes were stuck on your body as it swayed along in perfect rhythm to the beat of the salsa music., "Kate Bishop, you're drooling.," the brunette glared over at her best friend who met her with a petty little smirk., "What?"

"I-Is it so obvious how infatuated I am?," she stuttered worriedly, the last thing the up and coming Avenger needed was for her "silly little crush" on you to get in the way of this weeks mission., "Painfully so Kate."

"I just can't help it.," she groaned pitifully and was met by chuckling—you were perfect in every sense of the word., "She's gorgeous."

Kate had taken a liking to you from day one, she stuttered through her introduction of herself, even offering you your own name back in lieu of hers because she was that nervous. Not only were you Natasha and Clint's more recent protege, but you were breathtakingly gorgeous, and apparently another mentor. Even if you were only a few years older than the girl, you'd learned the ropes, and elevated with Shield rather quickly before Avenging.

Yelena truly felt bad for the girl, she was nearly as clueless as Fanny was whenever she faked throwing her toys for her own amusement. There was no doubt in the blonde's mind that you shared in the infatuation, especially when she found out that you begged Fury to have her be your direct partner instead of having Kate.

Dancing was usually an intimate entanglement, and it was clear if you'd been partnered with Kate you'd likely stumble in the process of learning the salsa. The blonde has trained with you all week thus far, but today she had plans to speed this painstakingly slow love story along between you and the archer., "Oh no."

Your feet stilled when you heard a thud that was then followed by Yelena's pained yelps. When you turned around you saw the blonde on the ground, clutching her ankle, and your eyes went wider than you believed possible., "No, no, no! Yelena why?!," she deadpanned., "Oh, I don't know Y/N Y/L/N, maybe because I thought twisting my ankle would be fun!"

Truth be told she really did find this funny, because it's only a bit of plaster covered in paint over her intact ankle to give the illusion of immediate swelling. On the plus side she was likely to be babied by her older sister, and could reap the rewards of unlimited ice cream.

"What about the mission?," you shrieked, and you saw a glint in Yelena's eyes that spoke of trouble., "Kate knows the dance, she's already going on the mission anyways, so I'll have Nat take her place with Clint, and she'll take mine."

Internally you were planning the blondes murder, that sounded far too prepared to be an on the spot idea for her of all people. In the moment you were about to call her bluff, but then you met the eyes of the slightly younger woman and suddenly it wasn't all that bad an idea. Kate smiled nervously at you, her hands fidgeting like crazy as she attempted to speak., "I'm not the best, but I'm sure if we practiced together now I'd get the hang of it quickly."

"Then practice we shall.," you offered, with your hand now extending out for hers. Kate took it without hesitation, and you held back a giggle as she accidentally kicked Yelena's "bad" ankle, and the blonde nearly gave herself away when she refrained from screaming in pain until she remembered., "Ow, Kate Bishop, how could you do this to me? The pain is painful."

"Are you ready?," you turned to Kate, smiling so softly that she could feel her heart melting at the care you were showing her., "Yeah, I am."

"Good, because it's showtime baby.," your lips upturned when her breath hitched as your hand slipped into hers so smoothly., "Just follow my lead love, and it'll all be fine.," you pushed through the doors of the ballroom, and escorted your—mission—partner to the floor.

Kate's body was flushed, the sweet terms that slip from your tongue seem intentional, and not for the sake of the mission either. Hope fills her body even more when you pull her into you and glance at her lips, even if only for a second. The action wasn't lost on her, and if she's not a chicken she reckons she might act on it later., "Are perp is two groups to the right, I'll be the one who ends up dancing with him when Nat and Clint tell us they're securing the product."

Kate nodded, she was a bit tongue tied with your hot breaths fanning agains her face., "Alright, are you ready?," once she nodded you began to take the initiative in moving your bodies along to the music that just started. Remaining in a perfect set of steps together the whole way through, you smiled giddily when the archer surprised you with a small spin under her arm as you two turned smoothly.

The dancing chemistry the two of you shared was far greater than yours and Yelena's had been, and you weren't unaware of the reason. Kate has been the center of your heart for quite some time now, and you are grateful to Yelena for her fake fall for this opportunity to hold the archer even if only for a few minutes.

"Y/L/N, Bishop, we're in the back with the package—now's the time to distract the perp and his younger brother.," you leaned into Kate's ear to feign conversation., "Copy that Romanoff.," you pulled back with a saddened smile due to the impending loss of contact with Kate., "Don't have more fun without me.," she shook her head., "Couldn't imagine I would."

Within a few short steps you were tapping the mens shoulder, batting your eyes, and pulling their rigid forms onto the floor by their ties. Missions like these always bothered you, the way you had to be eye candy, and allow these grubby men access to your body in anyway. Kate's guy seemed polite—you deemed that to be because he was gay, but your guy wasn't.

His hands were rough as they gripped you by way of your hips, you grimaced as he pulled you incredibly close, his stubble scratching your cheek, and the overwhelming stench of his cheap cologne making you very nauseous., "Can't wait to get you outta here baby.," he husked into your ear, and you could see the way Kate's face paled from across the floor.

All you could do was giggle, letting the man feel as if he won you over, but you wore a frown as you met the brown eyes of your favorite girl. Kate smiled reassuringly at you, even if she herself wasn't feeling all that great about the situation., “Ladies—the package is secured.,” and just like that the two of your shared a smile just before spinning from the mens holds.

“Hey! Come back here!,” the man went to snatch you back up but Kate was right there to sock him in the jaw., “Don’t fucking touch what isn’t yours asshole.,” she grinned at the sight of the man whimpering as he clutched his face, then she turned to you with a softer smile., “Are you okay?,” you nodded timidly, then as to prevent being caught up in a scene you swiftly grabbed the younger girl’s forearm and ran out of the ballroom, only ever stopping the running once you found a secluded hallway.

“Thank you for defending my honor KitKat.,” she blushed almost as soon as she realized you had her body trapped against the wall., “I’m not his obviously, but then who’s am I, hm?,” you decided to goad the woman, you saw the way her brown eyes darkened ever so slightly under the dim lights as you asked such a teasing question., “Who’s do you want to be?”

You blinked in succession, a little shocked at how bold she was being in return, but you were also super into it., “Oh, who said I wanted to be anyone’s?,” you quirked a brow at her, but then you leaned in, her breath hitching as your lips brushed over her cheek., “I could be yours if you’d just ask, the staring is getting a bit old.”

Kate’s hands that were hovering over your hips now gripped the skin tightly, using the hold she flipped your bodies., “You were always mine.,” then before you could rebut her claims her pillow soft lips were pressed to yours, effective in shutting you up besides your soft moaning as her hands unconsciously slid to your ass, and began to knead at the thinly covered flesh.

“Fuck, Kate.,” you panted as your head flew back into the wall, your chest heaving as you worked expeditiously to fill your quaking lungs., “Not now baby, but definitely later.,” she winked at you, her face wearing a cheeky grin as you shivered in obvious anticipation., “I’m holding you to that.,” you whispered just before diving back in for another heady kiss., “Yeah, and I’ll be holding you down as I—.”

“Ladies. I’m so happy for you, but please do consider meeting us at the rendezvous spot before Clint leaves you in the dust.,” Natasha out of the blue teased the both of you through the coms that were still very much active., “Poor guy refused to put his hearing aids in after removing his specialty coms.,” she continued the teasing, and the two of you cackled, Kate’s red face now smushed into your chest at the idea of her mentor hearing all of that., “Copy that Romanoff, we’re headed your way now.,” you managed to reply between laughs., “Come on sweetheart. It’ll be okay.”

Kate smiled gratefully as she stepped in line behind you, because with your hand in hers she knew that those words were the absolute truth. Everything would be ok as long as she had you.

He was shocked at the way your tone drastically changed, it was dripping pure hate.

“Aw, can your pathetic ass not handle someone else being happy? Just because you are beyond fucking miserable doesn’t mean that you can come over here and try to ruin what I’ve built.”

Hanzo was almost a bit afraid, he slowly wandered closer to you, his hand slipping into yours. As if something clicked you looked back at him, slowly calming down. The man in front of you looked like he was ready to burst into tears.

“Let us go.”

The archer said before pulling you away and toward your room.

“You..”

“I apologise, it just happens sometimes..”

“Do not apologise, it was nice. It is rare you see someone defend themselves well with words.”

Maybe that was his way of saying it was attractive..

Good evening Rin! I come by with another zhongwrinth thought! It’s always been a personal headcanon of mine that Zhongli knows how to fight with different weapons, maybe because he’s the God of War or smth but anyways! I like to think combat practice does happen from time to time in the teahouse or in the adeptal relams.

At first it’s Wriothesley practicing punches then Zhongli passes by and asks him, “Have you tried (insert boxing tip here)?” And Wriothesley tries it out, he’s surprised at the improvement. Wriothesley knows Zhongli is powerful, he’s in the adeptal realm after all. So sometimes he’ll seek Zhongli out and ask for a combat tip or two.

For Al-Haitham it’s a little harder? Feeble scholar he calls himself, i just like to think he passed by during Wriothesley’s practice once and Zhongli happens to be there. Zhongli comments on the Wrio’s form and Al-Haitham, curious, asks Zhongli for comments on the scholar’s form.

Zhongli gives a detailed comment and Al-Haitham just goes. “I’ll try it next time.”

So now three of them have one joint combat session, I forgot to ask, how much does Al-Haitham and Wriothesley know about Zhongli’s being a former god in the zhongwrinth household? Do they know all the details or do they just go ‘he’s powerful and gives good advice’?

That’s not the best part, the best part is when you come home and see three of your husbands, shirtless and sweating from their workout practicing together.

yessss i'm pretty sure zhongli can wield a lot of weapons (i mean…. 6k years and counting, god of war, knowledgeable about all things, man wears an archer's ring - and i refuse to believe it's just for 'status' or aesthetic purposes….) and he just so happens to prefer the polearm!! ough… imagine him with a claymore…. *nosebleeds*

OH RIGHT YES AHEM joint combat training (or, as al haitham claims, 'just an exercise') session. does wriothesley and al haitham know about zhongli's identity? well, the answer is both yes and no lol

i'd like to think zhongli is kind of a menace in this one - he doesn't really straight up tell them, but he doesn't really try to hide the fact that he's not just an ordinary guy. they have seen him with his horns and tail out. they have seen him in his compact form wrapped around my neck like a scarf. he doesn't hesitate to tell stories of old when he was rex lapis/morax over dinner (but he does this in a storytelling fashion and in third-person pov). they have asked me for clarification, but i'm also a menace so i choose to keep quiet i don't think it's something i should be telling them, so all i tell them is "if he's not telling, then i'm not telling <3" lmao

i'd say wriothesley suspects that he's a dragon sovereign, simply because he knows neuvillette and these two old men give similar vibes and mannerisms. i imagine he keeps sneakily trying to bribe zhongli to visit fontaine with its ✨selections✨of✨tea✨ but he's actually secretly planning to make the two dragons meet so he can test his hypothesis.

as for al haitham, i think he has enough resources and brainpower to do a proper observation and research to conclude that zhongli is the ex-geo archon. he's the type who would deep dive into liyue history books and journals and records, learn ancient liyuean to explore the ruins, and ask questions to zhongli to crosscheck between the books, the facts he's seen, and whether zhongli's story corroborates it. man's hyperfixated now. someone help him.

brb now i'm imagining shirtless wriothesley and zhongli in that transparent bodysuit and al haitham in his own bodysuit, all sweating aー oh god zhongli's hair is upー oh god wrio's pouring water onto his face and it's trickling down hisー oh god haitham's lifting his bodysuit to wipe his swー HWERHFIE)OWWEDLIAJDIKASD *explODES*

I saw the Les Miserables US tour on Tuesday and am still IN MY FEELINGS about it, so here’s a random assortment of somewhat coherent thoughts/rambles/write up/review.

(Note: I saw the entire principle cast except Randy Jeter (who was out) and two ensemble swings. Andrew Marks Maughan was pulling double duty as both the Bishop and Combferre.)

• I didn’t know anything about Nick Cartell going in, but holy fuck, that VOICE. Tone is immaculate. Lungs of fucking steel.

• “Another story must beGINNNNNN” are you kidding me Nick. Who gave you the right to be this talented. Why is this man not more famous?!

• Preston Truman Boyd as Javert - voice is great, nice deep baritone. I wanted a smidge more from him acting wise though (this improved over the course of his performance).

• Nick and Preston sound phenomenal together, their voices work SO WELL.

• Haley Dortch has the voice of an angel and I loved her portrayal of Fantine.

• I appreciated that when Fantine was attacked/arrested all of the lovely ladies kept trying to stop it/help her. A nice staging touch.

• The whole transition into the courtroom was fantastic. Nick with that ending note of “Who Am I?” 🤯 I feel like I heard a few nods to Colm’s Valjean throughout Nick’s performance, this being one, which I appreciated on a cellular level.

• Confrontation sounded sooo good. It is a little goofy looking because Nick is so much shorter/smaller than Preston, which made the whole Valjean-as-stronger-man thing a bit silly. The blocking here didn’t do much for me. But what can you do. However! The “you’ll wear a different CHAInnn!” *cue Present with the chain hitting the stage floor* was fierce.

• It took a minute but Matt Crowle really won me over as Thénardier. Acting choices were 💯 without going over the top.

• There was a lot going on during “Master of the House” and it was a lot of fun, but also hard to catch everything.

• Gavroche was delightful. As usual.

• I’m not sure why Enjolras’ blonde wig was so bad, but it was really distracting. Devin Archer does a very decent Enjolras, but man that wig was not doing him any favors.

• Marius’ entrance was forgettable. I think this was more a staging issue than a reflection on Jake David Smith maybe? All the students kind of looked the same at this time. I had a hard time telling Les Amis apart all night, honestly. Except for Enjolras and Grantaire, obviously, which brings me to….

• Kyle Adams. You freaking fan-servicing national treasure. Cards on the table, seeing reviews of Kyle’s Grantaire was the single biggest reason I decided to catch this tour, and I was really, REALLY hoping to see him in the role. I did not think anyone would ever come close to eclipsing Hadley as my R of all time, but Kyle is right up there in his orbit. Omg that scene stealing little shit. He really put his all into “the drunk one”. Blowing the kiss to E at the end of Red and Black. Continually slapping people with his coat jacket. The dick-bottle in Enjolras’ face. Constantly goofing around with Gavroche. It was all gold. I really appreciate an actor who’s done their homework, and Kyle is very obviously well versed in both the source material and the rabid E/R fan fiction. His performance is a love letter to the fans - to those of us who have cried over the brick, who have watched every musical version we’ve been able to get our hands on over and over again - and I love that for all of us.

• Anyway, back to “Red and Black”. Devin is great, really brings the sassy Enjolras energy. Marius is….kind of forgettable again. Sorry, Jake. Enjolras when he grabs that flag…Devin is really serving.

• “Do You Hear the People Sing” was wonderfully rousing, as always. One of my favorites forever. The transition to the streets was very pleasing. Again, Devin with that damn flag. I might end up shipping Enj with the flag as much as E and R, he’s that passionate with it 🤣

• Delaney Guyer was a perfectly pleasant Cosette. No criticisms, I just haven’t really ever cared about Cosette much as a character. Her songs do very little for me. But Delaney was lovely.

• Mya Rena Hunter as Eponine was somewhat “meh” for me. Her vocals are killer and “On My Own” got one of the biggest ovations of the night, but I didn’t love her acting choices. Or maybe lack there of, it didn’t seem like there were any. I dunno.

• The staging/choreo for “One Day More” was really entertaining. Much better than the underwhelming marching I saw in the 2012 production. Devin serving sassy, dramatic Enjolras with flair and a rifle is a whole ass mood.

• I fucking love the barricade set. Seeing Les Amis climb all over that thing is such a moment. Enjolras literally leaping off the set multiple times. Dude gets AIR.

• Gavroche flipping off Javert was an audience favorite.

• “A Little Falls of Rain” was underwhelming. The staging was a bit awkward and there was no scene chemistry between Jake and Mya. I really wanted to feel something. I didn’t. Just eh.

• “Drink With Me”, on the other hand, was so wonderfully emotional. Kyle’s stying of R’s verse is an angrier, grittier interpretation and I’m sooo here for it. Enjolras goes to console him and R pushes him away. The pain feels so real.

• “Bring Him Home”….Nick. Fucking. Cartell. I have no words. He cast an absolute SPELL over the theater. His breath control is super human. His last “home” note went on FOREVER. Absolutely phenomenal. Hands down best version I’ve ever heard live. Biggest ovation of the night.

• Gavroche’s death 😭 So sad, so well done. It was very striking how he was shot just as Enjolras’ hand reached up for him as he returned. The timing, the lights, sound everything was excellent. Then he crumpled onto E’s shoulder. E handed his lifeless body to R, who was just devastated. I love the relationship they created between Gavroche and R this production. The entire build up of their interactions made this moment so poignant and believable.

• Christopher Robin Sapp really took his 5 seconds of National Guard Officer/Loud Hailer time and absolutely slayed it. I want to see more of this guy in the future.

• The choreo of the final battle was very satisfying. I totally missed Marius getting injured and just mistook him for another student because again….Marius was just not catching any of my attention this tour, lol. The frantic moment between E and R in this scene was so raw and well done by both actors. R reaching for E’s face, clasping hands so very briefly. Ugh.

• Then E with the flag again. This scene is so striking and Devin gives it EVERYTHING. Then R climbing up after E once he gets shot and falls off of the barricade. The way it takes a few moments for R to die after being shot and Kyle freaking Adams makes sure the audience knows it…

• I was lucky enough to see a production with the revolving stage back in the day and I’m really glad I did, because the reveal of Enjolras’ body hanging upside down off the other side of the barricade with the flag is one of those theater moments that will haunt me forever. Enjolras’ lifeless body in the cart just doesn’t have quite that same punch, but it’s timed very nicely with the music swell, and the way his body shifts/almost falls out of the cart when it’s carried away again is quite effective.

• Ok so the sewers. That was cool. I felt like this production used just enough of the screen to really assist the set design without relying on it too much. It worked really well for the orchestration and gave depth to Valjean just dragging Marius across the stage 3 times.

• Thénardier dragging in that corpse by his ankles for “Dog Eats Dog” lol. Matt really showed up for this scene. I think he did a good job of dipping into the “comedic” aspects of Thénardier as well as balancing the really rotten parts - this was a really great rotten part. I thoroughly enjoyed his turn as the infamous innkeeper.

• Javert is such a little drama queen.

• “Stars” was A++++. One of my forever favorites anyway, but Preston took this song to church. Also, I do NOT remember this staging, if it’s what I saw in 2012 (I don’t think so?!) and holy shit. I was not expecting what they did, which got quite a few gasps from the audience. The falling/floating/reaching while holding that last “ONNNNNNN” was a fucking MOMENT. Props to this production set up. Major props to Preston. Just wow.

• The transition from “Turning” to “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” was beautiful, and I love love love the candle choreography. When Les Amis blow their candles out….ugh 😭 This number was a bit of redemption for Jake David Smith, who until now had kept slipping into the background. I found his Marius to be a bit uninspired and unrecognizable for the most part. He did not bring much of a presence to the role until this moment. But his vocals were great here, and the anguish felt genuine.

• I don’t have much too say about “Beggars at the Feast” because I was too busy watching no one but Kyle Adams as Major Domo for the entire scene 🤷🏻‍♀️

• But omg the change of Thénardier’s lyrics from “this one’s a queer / but what can you do?” to “this one’s a queer / I might try it too” and then he dips that random wedding guest dude was a giant yes from me.

• Finale left a touch to be desired blocking/staging wise. I remember feeling that way with the 2012 production as well. Les Mis is just such a powerful musical, I feel like it deserves a bigger ending than basically everyone just standing in two lines behind Cosette and Marius. The cast’s vocals made up for the lack of production though. Truly so, so good.

• In conclusion: Nick Cartell has an otherworldly voice and Kyle Adams is the Grantaire we all deserve. I am so, SO glad I got to experience this cast.

gonna admit that most of my rpg-esque/fantasy ideas come from anime, gacha games, and turn-based RPGs so my ideas probably won't align with yours anon >n<

this is gonna be pretty long oh boy BUT BEFORE WE DO THAT quick shoutout to these two posts i saw a while ago!! they're ideas for the brothers' dnd classes :D (im scared too scared to play dnd)

ANYWAYS RAMBLING BELOW

Not-Lucifers

Roles/Classes: Mainly DPS (Black Mage, Warrior, etc) with some survivability for themselves, and maybe their teammates. If they're more support oriented, they give opponents many debuffs. And while very uncommon, some Not-Lucifers are summoners (Not-Lucifers always have magic on some level, even if they don't use it themselves)

Races: Out of all the Not-Brothers, Not-Lucifers have the most variety in races. Humans, demons, angels, elves, mermaids; basically every one you can think of, there's a Not-Lucifer variant

Ranges: All (Short, Mid, Long)

Almost always immortal

Not uncommon for them to be under some curse (sometimes the cause of their immortality), esp if it makes them broody and depressed

As you said anon, half of the time they're villains (with backstories that tug on Levi's heartstrings and he ends up crying at his PC over them)

A lot of Not-Lucifers have family trauma, some of them are even the cause of it (and either want to atone or further themselves into despair, hopefully the player can help the latter ones out)

Not-Mammons

Roles/Classes: THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!! also Rogues, Archers, and Gunslingers (sometimes magic ones!). A mix of DPS and support, mainly focuses on buffs/debuffs

Races: Often humans, sometimes small animal-based beastmen (rabbits, weasels, etc) or halflings short kings

Ranges: All

Sillies who are at the mercy of the RNG gods :) they roll nat 1's 50 times in a row

Hell most Not-Mammons are actually kind of ass as units but Levi loves them for their personalities and he gets very very upset if people (both characters and players) trash talk them

Backstories often about families (having a lack of one and going out to find their own, being looked down in theirs and leaving to prove everyone that they're strong like some shounen protag, maybe just stealing to earn some money for their families) and/or getting into trouble (a couple Not-Mammons are just dudes running from debt collectors)

If the game has some sort of expedition mechanic, if sent out, they bring back extra money

Okay this isn't that related but I just imagined Mammon in a turn-based RPG with a cute little crow on his shoulder that's in his attack animations awawawa cries

Not-Satans

Roles/Classes: Mages, Alchemists, Warriors and even Bards thrown in here and there for flavor (and Beastmasters of course). Not-Satans are mainly supports with buffs, debuffs, and shields, who are still capable of dealing some damage

Races: Elves, humans, vampires, occasionally demons or beastmen or angels

Ranges: Short, Mid

Many Not-Satans are scholars, a couple of them being members/in charge of magic schools

There "softer" Not-Satans (Bards, buff oriented mages and alchemists) are sometimes romantics; a few of them are even married!

Some of them are similar to Not-Lucifers in a couple of ways... some are villains, some are suffering from curses, some have family trauma... (a couple of them have bitter feelings for their father/older sibling...)

For the DPS oriented ones, some of them have the "more damage dealt/less HP = becomes stronger" mechanic, esp for the villains and bosses

Not-Asmos

Roles/Classes: Has the widest range out of the Not-Brothers! Full healers, full supports, full DPS, the Not-Asmos have everyone! But to keep things simple, let's say buff/debuff oriented Mages.

Races: Mainly vampires and demons (specifically incubi/succubi), but there's a lot of elves, mermaids, humans, and cute animal beastmen too

Ranges: All

You know how Asmo will put on his cute little damsel in distress act? Some Not-Asmos will do this then one-shot most opponents without breaking a sweat. Sillies <3

More than a couple of them are villains, plenty with taunt/charm mechanics and "gross monster disguises themselves as something cute" stories

A small amount of Not-Asmos are closer to his more genuine and insecure side, clearly hiding their fears with fake smiles and hype. Levi adores them and wishes he could help him them out...

POISON DAMAGE. SCORPION... so much goddamn posion damage

Not-Beels

Roles/Classes: DPS, tanks, and defense!! Warriors, Knights, Beserkers/Barbarians. Those guys with the BIGGGGG weapons. Giant axes, hammers, shields... the more depressed/creepy ones will just pull a Goldlewis and hit you with a coffin

Races: Often beastmen (bulls, carnivores like wild dogs and big cats), sometimes humans, occasionally orcs, rarely dwarves and angels

Ranges: Short

WILL consume all of your items. Ally or opponent. Get used to it

Not-Beels with light-hearted backstories often have them surrounded by food all their life (think living in a family bakery) or being renowned fighters or beast hunters. Not-Beels with sadder backstories however...

FAMILY TRAUMA!!!!!! OFTEN WITH SURVIVORS GUILT!!!!!!!! Some Not-Beels are the last members of a species, the final remnants of a noble house, people who couldn't save their loved ones or even were forced to kill them... Not-Lucifers can't even begin to compare to the level of atonement some Not-Beels are going through

But if they have the sad backstories and still have loved ones, Not-Beels are extremely protective of them

Not-Belphies

Roles/Classes: Mages centered on debuffs and damage, along with those rude healers who roll their eyes when you're on 1 HP and begging for help

Races: Same kinds of beastmen as Not-Beels and Not-Mammons, along with elves, demons, vampires, and humans

Ranges: Long

They'll fall asleep mid-battle and then get mad at opponents (and allies) who wake them up. Opponents will then be crushed by falling stars, allies might get stardust in their hair

Unsurprisingly a few of them are villains... the fans either adore them or watch videos on their fights just so they can replay the moment they die over and over again

A couple of Not-Belphies are nobles or even royalty, which comes with a special flavor of family trauma! Plenty have left their families, by their own choice or not

Debuffs will be mixed in with damage. Opponents falling asleep will get hurt, opponents waking up will get hurt, opponents getting their head filled with false dreams and illusions will get hurt, opponents getting hit by meteors will get hurt

2/ hhhh this one was . also tough……. :cc since you went w a childhood near-death experience i will do the same >:3 i was almost brutally murdered (<- grave exaggeration) by a cow when i was like . 10…. it might’ve been a bull?? i was too scared to look it in the eye 😞😞

it was raining a bunch right … and there was this lil nature reserve near my house . w a path you could walk up on a hill but also down by a river….. and it was raining sm that the whole thing was just FLOODED. you couldn’t see any of the rocks in the river…. or the grass you could walk on beside it…… so little ari decided to go down there anyway. for the sake of adventure. and i made it to the end of the path to a fence that you could jump over to get to The Normal Road Home .

BUT …. gasp ………. little ari came face to face w a bunch of cows . up on the hill. right by the fence. they were eating the grass and i was scared bc they were fucking HUGE mickey :((( i was shaking n shivering and trying to blend in w my surroundings……… carefully making my way towards the fence that they were kinda blocking.

BUT THEN …. another gasp….. suddenly i was face to face w this One cow/bull and it just stared at me. for a couple seconds. and then it ran right towards me and my childhood instincts kicked in …. so i like. ran down the hill and then back up so i could jump over the fence . and then i was ok :) but ever since that fateful day i’ve been scared of cows….. i can only admire them from afar 😔😔😔😔

He’d been good to me - a perfect gentleman who held me as I sought his comfort. From the moment I returned to our quarters, Thy'lek knew something was wrong. He could always read me like a book, even if I never said a word.

"What is it, sweet girl?" He'd asked as he got to his feet, but I couldn't make myself answer. I didn't need to, though. He knew exactly what was wrong. Like Captain Archer, he had his fingers firmly on the pulse of the ship's crew. Whispering soothing little words to me as he pulled me into his arms, the Commander placed a soft kiss on my forehead.

The tears started slowly, but once they had, I couldn't stop them. I was so tired, and this mission was weighing so heavily on me. Nearly the entire crew had been pulling double shifts, and none of us were sleeping well. We desperately needed a break, but until this mission was complete, we couldn't afford to take one.

I'd made so many more mistakes on my last shift than I normally would have. Being berated by my section's commanding officer didn't help my mental state. All I wanted now was to bury myself in bed with Thy'lek and sleep for about a decade.

Moods like this didn't happen very often, because missions that were as demanding as this one were extremely rare. Still, Shran was incredibly patient. He never once told me that I was being silly or that I should just suck it up and move on. Instead, he rubbed patient little patterns on my back and allowed me to ride out my emotions. At some point, he'd carried me to our bed and tangled me carefully in his arms.

When the last sniffle finally escaped me and I took a deep, steadying breath, a soft smile stretched his lips.

"There, now. Did that help a little?" He nuzzled my nose as he asked, and I nodded my head. "How can I make the rest of it better?"

I didn't even need a moment to consider my options. Tilting my head slightly, I placed kisses across my lover's jaw. When my mouth finally reached his, the Commander hummed, sliding his hands down my back to my hips. As the kiss grew gradually more heated, Shran pulled away far enough to look me in the eye.

“Are you sure this is what you want, pretty girl?” He was always so careful, so respectful. God, I loved him.

“Yes. Please, I need you,” I breathed brushing my nose along his. He needed no further encouragement. With a gentle, burning sort of passion, he held my head in place and kissed from my lips down to the dip between my collarbones. I couldn't keep from whimpering at his sweet ministrations.

“Shh, let me take care of you,” Thy’lek murmured nibbling lightly at a hickey he'd left beneath my jaw a few nights before.

“You always do.” He smiled as he started unzipping my uniform, and soon our bodies were entwined in a familiar, intimate dance.

Soft, careful nights like this felt like a sacrament - a convergence of two souls alongside that of our bodies. Slow and steady, leisurely and deliberately we drank of each other. This game of give and take sent shivers up my spine in the wake of his gentle, seeking fingers. For a fighter like Thy’lek to be so unhurried, so painstaking about every touch...it always brought tears to my eyes, and tonight was no exception.

"Am I hurting you?" He whispered as he flipped me onto my back, but I shook my head. Wrapping my arms around him, I surrendered to the sensation of his body melding with mine and his love surrounding me. By the time we fell asleep, we were both out of breath and very much a part of each other.

Whether you ship it or not: looks at blog y. yeah. so very much!! palmnueng are so important to me and I did not expect that in the slightest when I started watching nlmg

Why I ship it or not: breathes in. okay it's about the devotion and the violence and the desperation and the certainty, it's about the willingness to die and it's about the refusal to let the other die, it's about how they feel unlovable and how they make sure the other is loved, it's about the fact that palm and nueng are so, so different and loving each other is so, so hard but they do it anyway and - it's what saves them both. in the end.

My opinion on their canon potential: I have very little opinions on 'chemistry' or acting because I'm the kind of nd that can never tell whether or not something is good acting. having said that I am very much in love with pondphuwin, they are so!!!! also also, pretty boys. and palmneung's canon interactions are absolutely fantastic - the only thing I wanted more of was nueng visibly caring for palm? but other than that 10/10, adore their onscreen dynamic and the way it shifts and changes into what it is in OS2

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it: um. good? I mostly use tumblr + ao3 to fandom and these two are really good about palmnueng because the fandoms are relatively small. for fanon interpretations... my only pet peeve is when they're written as one dimensional characters, but I guess that goes for any character. I don't have specific beef about them :)

Okay disclaimer, I haven't watched past ep 6 of Only Friends yet so my answers will be based on that + the little spoilers I've seen here and there for later eps

Whether you ship it or not: hmmm. in a 'you should be together so you can learn from this experience and move on' way? yes. in a 'you guys are romantically compatible' way? no.

Why I ship it or not: I think they're an interesting example of what queer relationships can sometimes look like at that age, and I love their dynamic as a fictional couple + the fact that they cause so many issues for literally everyone around them. absolutely ruinous couple 10/10. also, they change each other! for the better or for the worse remains to be seen, but change is there

My opinion on their canon potential: same thing re: acting, but their interactions are so interesting to pick apart and observe? plus, forcebook do a great job of acting the at-times conflicting emotions they have which I love. for this question I really think I need to watch more episodes though

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it: I'm only really interacting with my mutual circle for Only Friends because the show has created some... opinions that I want nothing to do with. that said I think I'm not caught up enough to make any string statement on any fanon interpretations

I'm deep in BG3 brainrot🙈😅 I'm in my 4th pt right now lol. I have a stand-by pt of my monk tav in act 3 cause the kiss animation with Astarion with a tav with body type 1 (the smollest one lol) is broken since patch 4. And yes, I'm becoming the kind of person who romances Astarion with every single tav I make😂

I... can't even remember what I sent you, but I gather it was about BG3 LOL I'm feeling much better. I haven't tried your cloud idea yet. I wanted to finish my Adaar run and I replayed DAO instead. Mainly because my friend said during our little Christmas break (we have 4ish days off for it and we're coworkers) he's getting it on his Xbox and I'm gonna go play it with him! Which means when the spiders come I can hide 🤣🤣 I DID make three "Tavs" before I gave up (and I'll be remaking one for the Xbox marathon).

All your Tavs (pts?? pcs??) look SO cool! I wasn't super pleased with how limited the faces were, but you did a great job making each unique. Silly Larian, fix the bug so Ceres can have a kiss! KISS KISS KISS! Oh, also, how is it playing a monk?? I had a tabaxi (cat person) monk in a campaign and she was so fun to rp, does it work out well in bg3?? I think Iriel's design in my favorite, though. I looove that half-buzz cut. Nephalem looks very suave and cool, too 😎

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 012 - Covid 2152

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season 1 Episode 13 - Dear Doctor

Finally, an episode focussing around Phloxx! Phloxx has definitely been my favourite character so far, and I've been very patiently waiting for him to have some time in the spotlight! I love how he has all these little hobbies, with his pet insects, and his interest in different cultures and religions, and now in episode his Pen-pal doctor friend, and teaching denobulan to Hoshi! He's just a delight!

But anyways, the episode. The episode decides to take a framing device of a voice-letter to a colleague, as he personally studies these silly human creatures, which is a small touch, but it makes it stand out amongst the episodes so far. The story revolves around the Enterprise encountering a ship adrift with an unknown disease, and our good doctor must try to cure them.

Unfortunately, the disease is seemingly uncurbable. And, it kind of genuinely hurts to see Phloxx deal with him just being unable to help. This species is sadly, going extinct. Still, Phloxx tries his best as always

Crewman Cutler and Phloxx's romance was Great! They had a few cute moments together, the small kiss in the hallway, and the "cinema" screening. I hope we see more of them in the future. And Hoshi agrees with me. I wish T'Pol didn't shoot down my man so quickly with her advice. I'm genuinely invested in Cutler and Phloxx getting together. I wish I new if there was a ship name, but I'm here for it. Ending it on "let's just see where it goes" really hurt.

Seeing Archer grapple between needing to help these people and knowing they're not ready for the Warp technology they're asking for, and it makes an interesting parallel for Phloxx's situation

This was a pretty emotionally heavy episode, and the character writing was stellar. I loved this one.

oh i am so about to become an unskippable cutscene. ok so

my zeldaverse concept is that they all get stuck in the time AFTER the golden goddesses made hyrule but BEFORE hylias creation. each zelda has a varying amount of time since their adventure ended (i.e. totk zelda has been back home for a little less than a month. st zelda is in the MIDDLE of her adventure. sheik only sent link back to her time a week ago. its been 9 months since midna left tp zelda. zelda i zel's adventure ended 5 years ago and her great aunt from zelda ii ended one year ago. etc etc). the idea is that they all wanna get home, so they decide to try and use the triforce, but none of them know which one would be Worthy of it (as in having power wisdom courage). they go to termina [sksw zeldas idea. shes reaaaally trying not to let on shes hylia but still wants to be helpful] bc the fierce deity is their best shot at knowing which one can do it. FD (who appears as their links to each one of them respectively as to "present as something theyre more familiar with." ie botw zelda sees botw link, tp zel sees tp link, etc etc. they end up changing into malon for sheik bc hes still got baggage over link and impa and anyone else so FD chooses someone he barely knows instead.)

anyways FD tells them that all of them are capable of it if they focus in but their best bets are sheik, botw zelda, tetra, and hilda + albw zelda if they do it together (one from each branch of the timeline. kind of). so the gang splits off to find the triforce and erm yeah 🕺💃

also theres two oot zeldas. one for the adult timeline (sheik) and one for the child timeline, who never knew the horrors of war and got to know oot link unlike sheik. oops.

anyways herez my names wooooo (also they all chose them themselves hehe)

BOTW/TOTK - Coreulea (part of the scientific name of wild blueheart tulips which are the closest visually to silent princesses irl, so. shes named after her fav flower...)

OOT (ADULT) - Sheik (later Sage. this zelda awoke as the leader of the sages while the other oot zelda did not have to.)

OOT (CHILD) - Coda (the part of a song where you go back and repeat a portion you've already played before. get it. Coda says she wants something music related and Sheik is the one to suggest the name to her.)

MINISH CAP - Stonie/Quartzie (what her link calls her! used to think it was mean but shes rlly missing him so ..)

TP - Archer (bow of light. prefers to be called 'the archer' specifically if possible, lol)

ALBW - Hilda and Hue (like color. like painting. Hue liked the alliteration of their names hehe)

ALTTP - Maiden (describes herself as a maiden in game. theres more to it but ohhgh thatd require a lot of analysis and this is already so looong)

ZELDA I - Ura (in the og game u had another mode called ura zeruda after u beat the game which literally translated to "other zelda." its a little joke abt how many zeldas there are! she chose it bc its her real first name; zeldas only her middle name!)

ZELDA II - Somnia (from "insomnia." also the name her family uses to differentiate her from her great great niece. she thinks its pretty, if a little on the nose, but she cant blame her relatives for being that uncreative when shes been dead for 100 years, took the money they gave her to not claim the throne, and ran off with her boytoy lmaooo)

WW/PH - Tetra. she wanted a silly nickname too though so they will also respond to Captain

SPIRIT TRACKS - Spectra (like spectral! shes still a ghost here and has a good sense of humor abt it!)

SKSW - Lyre (another name for harp and sounds like "liar" because shes got a bit of a track record for not being entirely truthful about who she is ,,,,)

YOOOOOOOOO your zeldaverse concept sounds so cool!! I've never even thought of the idea of time travelling to after the golden goddesses created everything but before Hylia's creation! :O that's such an interesting time period, I've never really thought about all that.....

Also them going to the fierce deity is so cool cause I have so many questions!! How does sksw Zelda know of the fierce deity? Does she have memories of him during her time as Hylia? Does fierce deity recognize her? If he does, does he willingly keep her secret from the rest of the Zelda's as he's correctly guessed that she's hiding it? How does the fierce deity correcting know of just who would be the most familiar to present as and does he know of all the Link's?

There's just so many questions and it's so funnnnnn to think about!! Also I like how he says that all of them are capable but Sheik, botw Zelda, Tetra, and Hilda are the most capable of wielding the full triforce... while sksw Zelda is right there... HMMMMMMMM........ sksw Zelda I have questions for you but I fear if I speak any of them out loud you'll combust <3333 love her though <333

The choices for all the Zelda's is so fun and cool to! I've never really thought about including both oot child and adult! I can most definitely see that being a major source of pain and angst for Sheik and I'm just super curious about Coda would react to that :o also I'm just a fan of such Zelda incarnations such as MARIO KART and SUPER SMASH BROS being involved in the middle of this.

Aeryn is my go-to character to play as in fantasy rpgs, basically. atm he’s only in Skyrim, Elden Ring and the Sims, although that one doesn’t. yknow. i mean it doesn’t really count i just made him for fun.

the best way to describe him is “guy who’s love language is acts of service. who falls in love very easily.”

so he joins the dark brotherhood in skyrim and the volcano manor in elden ring. naturally.

(i can’t think of anything specifically to give a content warning for so let’s just say he’s a fucked up little sex freak and i’m gonna be talking about it a little under the cut)

these posts articulate his Vibe much better than i can. he really just. can’t conceptualise a life that doesn’t involve him devoting himself to a person or a cause. he’s also, as much as he tries to convince himself that he just wants a normal life, completely addicted to chaos and misery. he’s also kind of a hyper-sexual sadomasochist which really makes everything so much more Messy™️

in Skyrim he’s a bosmer who was seduced by a vampire who wanted him as a blood thrall but the idiot after a while the idiot turned him instead of draining him of everything and killing him. he Came Back Wrong. he’s also not the Dragonborn. can you even imagine. anyway. Listener. Stealth Archer. you know the drill. images⤵️

he’s much more interesting in Elden Ring. because it’s Lore is so vague about the Tarnished’s background, i just revamp his skyrim story slightly. he was a member of religious assassins (confesser starting class) but was betrayed by their leader and he was burned alive in the underground sanctuary. (au, obviously not how it happens) anyway, he has no memory of this. he’s very resistant to the Golden Order, finds the guidance of “grace” very disturbing but also. very difficult resist following, even subconsciously. he has no desire to assume the mantle of Mighty Elden Lord. Patches The Untethered fucking fascinates him and he just. imprints on that poor bald man like a baby bird. literally twirling his hair and kicking his feet and giggling at every attempted homicide. which eventually leads him to the volcano manor

and by the outer gods does he devote himself to them so quickly. so intensely-and why is this becoming a blow by blow of his whole elden ring story. whoops. anyway. when he finds out melina must die for him he Loses His Fucking Shit. it is simply unacceptable. INCOMPREHENSIBLE that someone dies for him. luckily, Shabriri comes along and offers a lovely and elegant solution :)

here’s where what i said before about him not liking the golden order and hating the idea of being elden lord comes in. yes, he can’t imagine himself as a Lord. but as it turns out, when pushed into a corner. he can imagine himself as a Martyr. an ambassador for the misbegotten, the demi humans (are they different words for the same race? i genuinely don’t know) the omens, the nomadic merchants, those who live in death. he can warp this story about one guys selfish journey toward becoming a lord into an epic romantic tragedy about the selfless actions of the saviour of the downtrodden, who disintegrated all that divides and distinguishes. <3 may chaos take the world.

i Am Aware that his outfit is very silly. but it’s part of his character. ambassador for the omens (cloak) and nomadic merchants (idiot hat) and those who live in death (prince of death staff. not seen but it’s there) he used to wear alberichs fancy wizard set but after being burned by Frenzy i imagine him trying to put them back on and not being able to because. burns. painful. so he throws on the soft cloak to protect himself from the elements and goes about his business. half naked at all times. it’s a serve.

i tried putting him in Dragon Age, in both Origins and Inquisition, but i just can’t make him fit in there for some reason. i reckon i could make him work as a Maharial Morrigan-mancer in origins with a bit of canon divergence and a lotta willpower (my own, not like. the games willpower skill you can level up) but that would require to play origins and that’s a pain by itself if i’m being brutally honest. i’ve tried him twice in inquisition with a lovehate cassandra romance that ends just So Bad but. and not to be dramatic here but. i genuinely think he would commit suicide immediately after closing that damn breach. like i just cant think of a single reason he would stay with those people.

anyway. i think that’s finally it? i warned you it would be long. still feel like i’m forgetting something. thank you so much to anyone who’s read this far, i love you with my whole heart

heya! I've never requested something before but I love your writing so much that I just have to x3 I have a really bad fear of spiders, you know, the whole shaking, crying, hyperventilating and freezing up stuff and most people either make fun of me for it or are annoyed when I ask them to remove it for me. I was wondering how my favourite agents would deal with a s/o with that problem. If it's not too much, Chamber, Cypher and Sova. Thank you for your amazing writing and have a wonderful day! <3

I hope all the spiders respect your personal bubble my dear anon, some are cute but jesus others are nightmares from the void. anyways, onto the reacts! this may be a tad short

Chamber doesn't make a big deal out of really anything and is always composed so the moment he sees you panicking and pointing at the offending creature he is ready to act. Calmly scoops up the spider in a cup before either placing it on the balcony or just yoting it out a window, which ever is faster and easier. Double checks for any additional unwanted guests before giving you the all clear and moving you out of the room the spider was in. Makes sure to regularly check for any spider webs or signs of spiders so there isn't a repeat of that.

Is really sweet about calming you down and is respectful of your fear, just really doesn't make a big deal out of it because in his mind doing so would make is worse. The first few times it happens he does nearly have a heart attack thinking you're in direct danger but returns to his usual self once he realizes it is just a spider.

Cypher would be a bit of an ass about it to be honest. He would handle the spider, killing or placing it outside, then would tease you about it until yelled at or until he no longer finds it funny. The informant does think your fear is cute and makes sure you know he is teasing you because of this and he actually doesn't really care much about your fear. Probably doesn't like bugs that much himself but doesn't really freak out, just kills them or relocates them then moves on so he does understand your issues with our eight legged menaces. Would wrap you up in a blanket and carry you away for cuddles after the spider is dealt with.

Would probably make little jokes to make it better like saying he slayed the mighty beast and saved the (insert preferred royal term here). If you laugh or smile it fuels him and makes every following spider removing more dramatic as well as theatrical.

Our lovely archer is by far the sweetest about the whole ordeal. He is practically the bases designated creepy crawly removal guy right next to Skye. Contains the threat then moves to scoop you up and take you to a safe cozy spot. Shows himself getting rid of the spider so you can rest easy it is in fact gone, will check for more if you want him to. Reassures you the entire time that it's alright, the spider was just confused and looking for a place to hide, he would never let a spider touch you or attack you. Would probably be the partner who would suggest trying to work on the fear so you can handle spiders better or at least not have a full breakdown due to one.

Sova would also be the partner that gets you those little brush spider grabbers or other extendable contraptions to trap one if he isn't there. Would also talk to the spider disapprovingly for scaring you. A tad bit silly but sees saying the spider is evil/making up some story for it as a good way to help since it takes the seriousness away. Sova is a partner who is very soft towards his s/o especially when they show emotion so expect a lot of love after a spider induced panic.

Side note: Sova was probably scared shitless of spiders as a kid so he really feels for his partner and their fear but would never mention he was once the same way.
