I once read that there is a mistranslation where Takizawa called Akira asexual so I think it would be funny if she's actually pansexual - she thinks all gender is fake and people are dumb if they are annoyed about other people's gender

Touka is bisexual you cant convince me otherwise she was disaster gay for Yoriko and had a brief crush for Kimi

Tomoe is genderfluid because I saw it in a dream. Idk I just think it fits her because she has so much things to explore about herself

Eto told everyone that she's aro to convince herself

What I love most about Naruto (especially the founders era) is that almost every character is so obviously aromantic and/ or ace in some way. There is no need for any of them to experience romantic attraction. It is not what drives the characters or story, and shoehorning it in there only clashes with the priority given to friendship and familial bonds that are central to what makes Naruto, Naruto. (and why it had me in such a chokehold 3 episodes in)

So here are some of my favourite characters (plus sns, and itachi because he and kisame come in the same package lol), and where on the spectrum they fall:

Sasuke: AROACE! and repulsed by both

Naruto: also aroace but his need for love and validation means he wouldn't realise it until his late 30s at least

Itachi: definitely aroace! (Agressively indifferent)

Kisame: definitely aromantic! (And the more i think about it the more I quite like the idea of him being ace too)

Madara: can very easily be read as aggressively aroace (personally I like him as somewhere on the demi or grey spec)

Hashirama: ARO truthism!! (Also love writing him as mostly ace too! Especially if I'm writing Tobirama as a bit of a whore)

Tobirama: I have never seen a more stereotypical aroace in my life! So I usually like to write him as romance repulsed and allosexual (or at least very sex favourable)

Izuna: the most aroallo in the history of aroallos! Romance repulsed, and a whore!

Mito: romance repulsed aro

Touka: also a romance repulsed aro. (They're fwb ur honour!)

Hikaku: the token allo. Jk, he's grey romantic and can't tell the difference between romantic and platonic attraction

on the topic of them, do you ship either kaneki or touka with other characters?

touka's too aro for me to ship her romantically, but i like queerplatonic touriko and her being nishikimi's +1 or something (early :re touka, and of course still in a qplatonic sense)

as for our dear protag, it depends on the version lmao: kuroneki: shuuneki, qp kanerize (rize's too aro), tsukikanerize (listen.), matsuneki (yeah, shush.) - shironeki: shuuneki (in a huh. very specific way), qp amoneki (amon's too aroace) - haise: qp/soft-romo amonhaise - black reaper: furuneki (r-anarchy), etokane (? is that their name?) (also r-anarchy) and the three of them bc why the hell not (still r-anarchy) - king: please consider fuka

tldr my main kaneki ship is shuuneki (og exclusive - potentially up to haise)

Touka didn’t have many friends before E Class. Sure, she was pretty enough and charismatic when she tried to be, but she had always felt a bit isolated from her peers. She was the only lesbian she knew, and in a school that seemed hellbent on achieving perfection by society’s standards, she knew she could never come out to anyone at Kunugigaoka. But when she landed in 3-E, everything changed. For the first time, she was surrounded by other misfits, other people who were a little “different.” And for the first time she felt like she could trust people to accept her for who she was. So on Okinawa, she told Yuzuki and Hinano the truth, and they accepted her immediately, grinning and teasing goodnaturedly. And now, years after junior high, Touka knows she was never as alone as she’d thought. Because by now Karma and Meg and Hiroto have come out as bi and pan, and Yuuma as gay, and Yukiko and Kotarou as ace and aro, and Touka finally feels like they’re all living authentically, and even on bad days, that makes her smile.

Hashirama and Kagami fight over Izuna, whom is to infatuation with Touka to notice. Touka is annoyed by him and continue to try and woo Mito, whom is fighting over Hashirama with Madara. Tobirama shakes his head in disgust at these displays and promises himself he'll stay single forever.

The history books are never clear on who married who - the Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki just ended up having one big wedding, and not even the guests who attended were certain which couple they were celebrating.

Tobirama goes down in history as an aro/ace icon, and ends up adopting every stray he can along the way. It’s not like his kids will ever have a shortage of babysitters.

Drunk Tobirama has no filter, and he will correct you! But he's also a bit of an emotional drunk, and he gets kind of really clingy. Izuna found out after inviting him and Touka to go out drinking with Naori, Kotori, and Hikaku. Izuna made some off handed comment about something jutsu related most likely and the rest is history. They argued for a solid hour, Izuna purposfully saying stupid shit just to get a reaction out of him. By that point Tobirama was too drunk to notice he wasn't being serious.

Izuna loves to just start arguements with him over the most stupid of things, and Tobi can't resist correcting him.

Bonus if they're casually sitting on each other and braiding each other's hair or some shit like that while they're arguing. To the others it's the absolute funniest shit. Drunkards all of them (affectionate).

I imagine the first time Izuna hugged him Tobirama just kind of froze up like

Tobirama: what was that?!

Izuna: Affection, we're friends now, deal with it.

Tobirama: disgusting! ... can you do it again?

Cackling.

Izuna has very little regard for personal space with friends and ppl he cares about lol. And Tobirama actually really appreciates affection. He's hardly ever the one to initiate but he definitely accepts it. He only has it in him to pretend to be a little annoyed when he's sober.

When I started shipping them:

Back when I first read the manga, when I reached chapters 111 to 113. Man, I was hooked. Their young selves did something irreversible to me lmao, and then Uta hit me with the old tattoo meaning and I was Gone.

It was in 2014, iirc. I started TG when it was over but before :re was published (by the time i was finished, :re was 7 chapters in, very precisely xD i remember bc it's the chapter Nishiki calls Haise Kaneki)

My thoughts:

I've talked about this extensively in the past but yeah their friendship is insanely important to me. The way they go on about "you're my friend" it makes me bonkers. They are the definition of what relationships should be, in my book. Friendship first and foremost and above all, for better or worse. They are The QPP™. Absolutely legendary. First ship to make me so gone. I often say Percabeth was my first OTP but nothing consumed me quite like Utaren did before they did. They're my OTQP? I guess? xD

What makes me happy about them:

Yeah, their friendship. How ride or die they are about each other. Able to rip each other to shreds but will also risk their lives to save the other. How accepting Renji is of Uta's clownship (before it threatens Touka lmao). The unconditional love. The brutality of it.

What makes me sad about them:

"Nec possum tecum uiuere nec sine te". doesn't make me sad per se but ouch anyway. The abandonment Uta felt when Renji left. The intricate knowledge Uta has that he can't be by his side but they can't be apart either - to the point of getting it tattooed. On his fucking neck.

Help.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

Making it sexual. I don't read much TG fanfics these days (or at least not new ones. i reread my favs instead) so idk what's the trend regarding them but back then I never liked them smut. Feels unnatural.

Also once I read a fic in which one said "ily" to the other (they were in a relationship already) and the other got up and left and they broke up??? What's up with that. I genuinely don't get why saying ily to your boyfriend would make him leave?? isn't that why you're dating?? Anyway.

Things I look for in fanfic:

4th ward era. "graphic depiction of violence" is always welcome.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

No one tbh. They're both too aro for that.

I think what we got in canon is the best that could have been for them. It's a half return to what they used to be..

How I feel about this character:

I feel too many things in too much quantity. I feel love, I feel grief, I feel protectiveness, I feel something sink in my stomach and something lift me in the sky. He is my most beloved, my husband, the light of my days. He makes me smile, he makes me oh so happy and he's one of the reasons I cry at night. He is everything to me.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:

Langa, of course. Kiriko, also and also of course. Both in the EDEN and Adakiri/LoveMantis way and in the EDENMantis way uwu

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:

With Tadashi, kink dom/sub relationship, with deep deep devotion on Tadashi's side and slowly recovering trust and friendship.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Depends on unpopular where. If it's in the entire western sk8 fandom, the unpopular opinion would be ADAM is absolutely amazing both character-wise and person-wise. He's the best and he deserves so much love.

If we're talking ADAM fandom, it would be that He Is Not A Slut. He is the very opposite of that.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I wish Cherry would apologize to him. I wish he'd managed to kill Reki. I wish we would know more of his past, especially regarding Kiriko. That's three things. Who cares.

Favorite friendship for this character:

With Tadashi, as kids. With Joe and Cherry, as teens. With Langa (and with Kiriko in my dreams), as adults.

My crossover ship:

With Matsuri (TG). I don't exactly ship it and it wouldn't work anyway because they're both doms but it's fun thinking about them meeting and becoming friends.
