Matryoshka Dolls: A Timeless Art Form
This post is another one on art forms from around the world. So far, we have explored Street Art, Mexican Folk Art, Chinese Kites, Japanese origami, the Sand Drawings of Vanuatu, Kintsugi from Japan, and Egyptian and Papyrus paintings. You can go back and read those posts if you missed them. Today we want to learn about Russian Matryoshka dolls. They are an emblem of Russian folk culture and…

Its interesting how badly i do in like school enviroments just on the basis of having horrible memory and an inability to do things i think are pointless. I think i come off as quite average in conversation but those things truly make me feel like an idiot and are also the reason for why im unemployable

the idea of a mountain as a person is odd but interesting he looks very nice!!
He's a park ranger!! And I suppose a biologist and historian at that as well- his name is Tahoma T. Rainier 👀
He knows the history of the park and Washington well because, well, he's witnessed it, but no one knows that 🤣 he studies the plants and the animals and is one of the folks who gets called if a wounded animal is found. He writes poetry and paints the local scenery and lives up in a watch tower on the mountain.
He gives guided tours and hikes and does talks for awareness on the wildfires, which he's very concerned about. He's quiet and pleasant to be around, he likes his books and his tea and his music. If you decide to stay at the watch tower before moving on while camping, you can spend an evening with him spinning old tales about the volcano and the native people.
He's definitely a PNW cowboy aesthetic, he dresses warm and cozy with alot of blues, browns, and black with some white and he always smells like the pines and wears things made by the native peoples. If you ask him, his favorite place is the fields of wildflowers up the mountain.

Dollmakers around the world: Anna Queen
Anna Queen is an artist from Taiwan with years of experience in BJD making.
(Pictures taken from her instagram page, bjd head is her Blreno head sculpt in natural skin, available at her shop)
She started her endeavour in dollmaking in 2007, when she decided to make her own BJD as the ones being sold in the market were too expensive for her back then. This resulted in her first doll, that despite being brittle, made her love the proccess and pushed her towards improving her skills. Not only does she sculpt the dolls, she does the faceup and makes the eyes as well, making her a very versatile artist.
(In this image, the doll on the right is her first doll ever made, and the ones on the left are her first casted resin dolls)
Her sculpts range from bigger 1/3 full dolls and heads to smaller ones, and includes humans, animals and fantastical creatures.
She shows her proccess and the result in several social media platforms, from designing and sculpting to customization, and some showcase of her art dolls.
Price: Low-Medium (depending on the item)
Her accessories (animal ears, bag heads) range around 16,35€
Her handmade eyes hit the 29-30€ Price range
Her BJD original heads are about 163,50€ per piece without faceup (she offers a lovely faceup option as well)
Full dolls (such as her dog BJD) and bust reach >600€

Was just reminded of Woody's 'restoration' scene in Toy Story 2 and how much it captivated me as a kid.
Like. I love this guy's tool box that has all these panels that flip out and how it carries everything he could ever need.
How he polishes Woody's eyes so they're shiny again. The airbrushing on his head and cheeks to give him some color back
and then that one brush stroke to completely cover up Andy's name on the bottom of Woody's boot. Like it's depressing? But so fucking satisfying.
And can we talk about the absolutely perfect music and sound design????
It's no wonder I grew up to customize dolls. Toy Story 2 was feeding me propaganda since I was a tot.

For my first post I want to start from the beginning...
I started my journey on amigurumi 3 years ago, everything was new to me, but still deep inside I knew that I wanted to live off amigurumi for the rest of my life. Since then I've been hustling to perfect my skills and make everything go the way I dream of.
These bunnies are a character called Samson (originally Sansão) and they belong to a popular Brazilian comic book series. they were practically one of my very first big amigurumi commission and finishing them made me be sure that being an amigurumi maker is what I want for my life. They mean a lot to me. 💙
The original pattern for this bunny is called "Coelho Kahell" by Ateliê Andreia Miano
