hey. have you all heard about this. they’re making a squid game reality tv show. like an actual squid games. have you heard about that. did you hear about amazon also planning a disco elysium tv series, and a life is strange tv series? of course we already have rings of power and then over on HBO we have the last of us and then wherever that shit halo show is streaming. and don’t forget all the star wars spin offs whose taglines are “the revolution will be televised” while being streamed by one of the worst media companies of all time who uses their billions of dollars to support bigots in the government and create military propaganda. have you heard about the booktok industry plant? have you heard about that author who gets their agent to spoon-feed them tropes so they can write the most soulless, bland fanfic that they can then repackage as a YA novel (she’s a new york times best-selling author btw) have you heard about all of that?
the creative industry is so discouraging right now. sometimes i really struggle to find any motivation at all when i see the way certain stories are treated - completely bastardized, milked for all their worth (and then beaten like a dead horse just for good measure) or otherwise you have creators that clearly could not care less, nothing but a cash grab with a pretty coat of paint, usually piggybacking off of trends or just using a pre-existing media (because then you already have a pre-existing fanbase. easy money!) and i’m not going to pretend like i understand how all of it works, what the process is from book/game to movie deal to netflix show but i will say i hate that this is the “goal” now, that this seems to be the expectation with so much art these days, whether the creator wants it or not.
it’s all just so... bleak.

Robin chose Steve. Robin made the conscious and deliberate decision that she could and would trust Steve. She already liked him! She had fun working and bantering with him! They were already on their way to being weird little bffs and the torture just expedited the process. Steve chose Robin just the same! He thinks she's fun and cool and likes her so much! He chose to be honest and open with her too, putting himself out there.
Even though their interests on the surface level don't match why wouldn't they share them? Steve clearly caves when Robin wants to watch a movie he doesn't think he'll like, Robin can watch a March madness game or five.
Stop trying to take away their bond oh my god people can be close to more than one person!!! Their best friend doesn't have to be dismissive or mean or whatever in order for a romance to be special to them!

~The Many Legs of Peeta Mellark, or A Weirdly In-Depth Look at Panem Prosthetics~
Concept art for Peeta’s leg because I can (details below the cut)
Catching Fire: though the leg itself is removable, the cover is non-optional and the access panels can only be used by Capitol technicians. Due to how ornate it is it can get a bit heavy after long periods of wear, and there’s limited movement in the ankle which impedes walking. It’s designed to mimic the shape of the original leg so it fills out clothes nicely, but flashy enough to be worthy of a Victor should anyone see it. A very pretty prosthetic, but only slightly better than a peg leg.
Mockingjay: this is what the prosthetic looks like without the fancy cover. It’s very no-nonsense with an advanced ankle component that has better range of motion without the casing, and features a rubber tread on the bottom of the foot blade to allow for better traction when chasing down and murdering his one true love. Although a vast improvement mobility-wise, it’s been permanently bolted to his leg and the control panels are all welded shut. Everything about this is short-term - they don’t care what happens to him once he’s killed Katniss.
Post War: when he’s caught in the explosion/fire from the bombs that got Prim his leg melts and fuses to his stump, so the doctors end up having to amputate even more. He’s given the choice to try out an experimental implant, which he accepts. This is vastly different from the other ones because he’s got so much autonomy - he can change the settings himself, remove the foot shell, opt in for a leg casing if he wants (he doesn’t). All in all it’s a very low maintenance leg, which suits him just fine, and because it’s an implant it finally feels like a part of him again.

Yuu: good on you for remembering
Yuu: this is a fun one, “call him that again and I will end your worthless existence you uncultured swine”
Ace: that’s unfair the option is literally infinite
Deuce: ……I’m guess— Azul? I don’t know
Sebek: why does this sound familiar
Epel: because someone like Riddle of Vil would say it?
Jack: it’s a threat so Leona senpai?
Sebek: OH! *jump on the chair excitedly* WAIT! THAT’S WAKASAMA WHEN LEONA SENPAI KEEP CALLING A GROTESQUE A GARGOYLE!
Yuu: 5 point to Sebek, he got that right on the money
Yuu: “birthday party is pretty occult like”
Epel: Rook
Deuce: definitely

Yuu: surprisingly, it’s Ruggie.
Sebek: is it that one time we accidentally gave Savanaclaw catnip?

gosh, I just love Enlightened One/Sothis Regalia/Archbishop Byleth soso much
love Byleth embracing their role in the church. love letting them own their goddess powers/affiliation. love them following in Sothis's footsteps, taking on her role for themself after losing her. LOVE them becoming that guiding light to Fodlan, just like they were a guiding light to their students at the academy
that, to me, IS Byleth's arc. they weren't happy during their time as a mercenary, just existing and killing to survive, but never connecting with others. then the academy gave them an opportunity they never would have sought out, but that allowed them to forge those connections they didn't even know they were missing. and it turns out to be unexpectedly fulfilling for them. to see their story culminate in them embracing a role of spiritual guidance to all of Fodlan is such a fitting resolution to that growth, imo

I watch OutsideXbox vids pretty often to unwind but today's video was about games where getting a bad ending was actually more work than a good ending
And it featured fucking Tales of Xillia 2
Which, no joke, upset me so thoroughly when I played and completed it that I have spent years denying its existence and trying to forget about it
So when this funtimes goofy youtube vid started and showed scenes from Xillia 2 without warning I literally yelled at the TV and started crying and Jon had to come check on me because I worried him. I was laughing through my tears like "This is stupid!! I shouldn't be having a fucking trauma response over a JRPG!!"
That's just how hard that game fucked me up
