The winners of the life series all had their own ways of winning:
1. Grian loyalty, playing into every one of Scar's schemes no matter how stupid they seemed. His win came from blood and tears, a descion made surronded by sand and cacti.
2. Scott defiance, he was never going to play the game the way it was designed. Why would he take life needlessly, no his win came from the refusal to do the watchers bidding.
3. Pearl alone, discarded by her soulmate, discarded by the one who pulled her into the nether in the first place. She won with her ties cut, she won not of her own descion but of the one who decided for her.
4. Martyn scavenger, taking time where most convient, stealing kills from right under peoples noses. His win came when even his trusted ally had his guard down, feral and desperate for just a drop more time, even if it left him frenzied and alone.

I just started reading the svsss volumes (and re-read them again because A LOT IS GOING ON) but like. This shit is so hysterically funny I don't even know where to begin.
Was no one????? Going to tell me that one of the cornerstone jokes in the damn series is that lbh's adoration for his one and only 'tism person who literally cannot express his emotions to save his life is basically genetic?????????
Was no one???? No one AT ALL going to tell me that Mobei-Jun straight up yeets Airplane at the problem in one of the scenes?????? And that in the most hilarious twist of fate Airplane then unyeets Mobei-Jun not twenty minutes later?????
It's one thing to see people joke about sqq and lbh being unable to communicate but it's on a league of its own when you have to read HUNDREDS OF PAGES of sqq's inner monologue be like 'that's my darling boy. my baby. my sugar plum pumpy umpkin you're my sweetie pie' but on the outside he says "get lost binghe" and somehow deems that an effective expression of his affection that lbh will surely understand. 'Why is lbh whining and crying and tugging at my sleeve like a plaintive wife, why is he so angry?' Sqq asks, the entire circus, as lbh is about to fling himself off a cliff for attention--
In short, MXTX is the queer comedian of our generation and nobody appreciates her enough

I am just sitting here a little bit in awe because Gyeongseong Creature just delivered some of the smartest character writing I have seen in ages.
We’ve been shown consistently through this narrative that Tae-Sang is a survivor and he strongly believes in doing whatever he must to get by. We also know he values loyalty and cares deeply for the handful of people he considers part of his little found family, and that he’s determinedly built himself a place to belong in this world and more afraid of the possibility of losing it, and his people, than he admits.
Maeda came to him loaded with knives ready not only to lie to him about Chae-Ok being dead, but also to expose the fact that every single member of his found family has betrayed him under duress. She expected this revelation to shatter him, isolate and alienate him, and bring him to heel. And for just a moment, looking at his devastated face, we fear that her plan has worked. But no, he looks her right in the eye and says fuck you, bitch, they only betrayed me because they had to, because people like you forced them to choose between that and survival. He understands they did what they had to do and he has already forgiven them. His devastation is not for what they did to him, but for what they were forced to do and how it must have hurt, humiliated, and shamed them.
It was a gorgeous moment of deep characterization, where we could see all the things we understood about Tae-Sang coming together and adding up to his resilience in the face of Maeda’s attempt to break him, and I will never forget it.

ok I'm incapable of being quiet about this so. I'm thinking about how incomprehensible God's love is and. friends. friends. when we say that God is love do you realize what that means? think about the weight of the truest, most intense love you've felt. think about how your heart jumps when you miss someone dear to you so much it hurts. think about how peaceful it is to be near someone you love and trust completely while you both go about mundane daily tasks. think about the joy of an embrace that knows you so well it feels like your soul is singing. now. God's love is more than that. So much realer and truer than our love that what we know now is like seeing in a mirror dimly. I always think of Romans 8 and stand in awe--what can separate us from that kind of love? Nothing!!! Emmanuel, God With Us, Love Incarnate, so much more than our idea of what love looks like and the true reality of what love is. "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

dear dmbj fandom, don't say i never gave you anything. this joke will be funny to approximately ten people but ngl, everytime i see it i laugh my whole entire face off. making it was the best possible use of my birthday this year, so i invite you to obtain a sticker or t-shirt off red/bub/ble (or, for a lower-quality but cheaper shirt, tee/pub/lic).
also, i gave you the tiniest markup allowed, because i love you. as the obnoxious drinks machine says in hitchhiker's guide, share and enjoy!
(ETA please be aware that the tall mug distorts the graphic, and they won't let me change/fix it. but the regular-degular mug is fine!)

Love that despite Oltyx's grumping about how every other necron around him sucks and he only likes maybe 2-3 other people, he's the one necron in canon who's had guardians and protectors from every walk of life. First his family (Djoseras, and once upon a time, Unnas), then the nobles of varying stations (e.g. Yenekh and Parreg), all the way to those of lowborn origin (Neth and Pakhet) who are dearly devoted to his well-being. Outsiders too, like Mentep and Zultanekh, not to mention every Flayed One by the end of his story!
It doesn't surprise me that the final mode of society he settles on as Valgûl is more egalitarian than literally any other necron dynasty out there. Despite the universe trying its best to crush Oltyx's ability to relate to other people out of him, Oltyx was more cared for than he let himself believe, and had more respect than he gave credit for. When it comes down to it, this was a boy who was very loved, and I'm glad he came to terms with it at the end 😭💖

One thing I always really found powerful about this scene was the fact that Mahidevran's head scarf fell off. I don't know if it was on purpose but I think it's great symbolism. Why would she care if these non-familial men saw her hair? What does she care about "morality" or "modesty" or "shame"? She just lost everything. Why would she show deference to a God that has taken her life from her? Take your beliefs and bare witness to my pain.
