Let's play... Bella or Watson?
While waiting for the next Letters from Watson email to arrive, fancy joining me in a little game of BELLA OR WATSON?
Some of these statements were written by Dr John H Watson about his friend Mr Sherlock Holmes. Some were written by Bella Swan about Edward, the hot teenage vampire from Twilight.
[IMG Silhouettes of Dr Watson and Bella Swan, text reads Watson or Bella]
(This was inspired by a tumblr post, but I'm afraid it's lost to the mists of ancient dash for me by now. Answers are under the cut!]
With his long, white, nervous fingers he adjusted [REDACTED], and [REDACTED].
glanced sideways at the beautiful [REDACTED], who was [REDACTED], [REDACTED] with long, pale fingers
His eyes were gloriously intense as he uttered that last sentence
I turned and he was leaning toward me, his pale, glorious face just inches from mine.
In the darkness he looked much more normal. Still pale, still dreamlike in his beauty, but no longer the fantastic sparkling creature of our sunlit afternoon.
In height he was rather over six feet, and so excessively lean that he seemed to be considerably taller. His eyes were sharp and piercing Watson or Bella?
His face flushed and darkened. His brows were drawn into two hard black lines, while his eyes shone out from beneath them with a steely glitter.
An instant later he pulled me back into the blackest corner of the room, and I felt his warning hand upon my lips. The fingers which clutched me were shivering.
It was worth a wound—it was worth many wounds—to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking.

No, no, no, it's not fine because James telling Arthur that Bella might be the only person capable of loving Arthur after Arthur admitted he wants to leave her because what they have is wrong, and then she dies so then is there no one left to love Arthur? because Arthur's parents are long dead, but then Faroe is there so maybe it can be good enough and he does find it can be good enough and then Faroe dies and there's nothing left but self-loathing and guilt, but Parker comes and wasn't that love or something like it? then Parker dies, and every time Arthur finds even a facsimile of love, it is ripped from his hands in the most violent fashion, and then John is there and it's definitely not love until it suddenly is, even against Arthur's better judgment, but it's because trust is how they survive, right? except it goes deeper than that and even the King in Yellow and Kayne know it and so Arthur kills himself to save John, but it's not enough so Arthur makes a deal to really save John and bring him back to him because Arthur only has eyes for him and John owns his eyes, and Arthur wants him safe but more importantly, he wants him back but to what end? Yellow asks because Arthur had his body back and wasn't that the original goal? but John didn't make it out safely and he wanted—needed John safe because he wants John as a friend, a friend forever? in the same body? Yellow asks and Arthur doesn't know because how can he know? how can he face a question like that or its implications? but then it doesn't matter because John is back, and John pulls him back up from bedrock because John can't—won't let him drown and then Arthur knows that John loves him because that can only be motivated by love, so John loves Arthur and Arthur loves John and maybe he doesn't want to acknowledge it but he knows at the very least John is a friend and is important to him and John is gold, a gift but nothing gold can stay, and is it fate or is it a deep-seated fear born out from trauma after trauma? because maybe it was never about there only being one person capable of loving Arthur at all and maybe it was really about whether or not Arthur gets to keep the people who love him and their love
