*Sighs*...Okay, yeah, Wish really IS bad
And I didn't want to go in thinking that. I went in with the most optimistic view possible. Because with EVERYONE treating this movie as the worst thing possible, a POX upon the house of mouse itself, I went in thinking that there's no WAY it's THAT bad. So when I finally watched, I decided...I was right. It's NOT that bad. But...Well...Let's get into it.
This is the part where I'd say "Positives First," to show off what worked before picking apart what didn't. Except that, aside from a few little moments and easter eggs that made me go, "Aw, that's cute," I'm coming up EMPTY. Every single thing--And I do mean EVERY SINGLE THING in this movie, from the animation, songs, characters, story, themes, ideas, and even EXECUTIONS...is ALMOST good. Every single aspect of this film ALMOST worked. The pieces are there and I can see just how this film could have been the masterpiece that was a CENTURY in the making. The problem is that there's ONE THING holding it back: Not enough time. And I don't just mean that the movie should have been longer. No, I mean that this movie needed another YEAR of production to tighten up EVERYTHING. Why's that? Well, let's go in order of the things I mentioned.
The animation is clearly trying to go for this mixed-medium style that movies like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish or Spider-Verse popularized. Those movies mixed hand-drawn animation with 3D models, making storybook illustrations or comic book art feel ALIVE. That's sort of Wish is going for. I hear people say that Disney's 100 year celebration should have been completely hand drawn to call back to their early years, but I tend to disagree. I think Disney making a movie that's mixed-medium is a better way to honor its one hundred years, taking the animation that made Disney huge and mixing it with modern CGI as a way to make it feel like a celebration of the old AND new. EXCEPT that it doesn't really look good, aside from certain screenshots. There are SOME still images where if you paused the movie at the right time you can get something that looks like a 2D image with CG touch-ups. For the rest of the movie, it looks like a modern CGI Disney film with a storybook filter slapped on it. It doesn't look TOO BAD when your eyes get used to it, but it doesn't stop the movie from feeling like it ALMOST hit the right mark. The only times it REALLY works is with Star.
Tumblr media
Wha--No. No, not that one. That's the wrong Disney character named Star.
Tumblr media
There he is. There's my little guy.
But look at him. He's a 3D character with hand-drawn touch-ups that really makes him feel like a 2D character brought to life. If the whole movie looked like HIM, then it would have been a revolutionary achievement for Disney. But it doesn't. Instead, it feels like a missed opportunity that would have worked better if they had more time to animate this film instead of leaving their animators scattered to the winds to make half-assed sequels or forcing out one to two projects every year.
There should have also been more attention given to the songs because...Oh my gosh, they're bad. They SOUND nice, I love the instrumentals and the POWER these people put into the vocals. "This Wish" and its reprise successfully gives me chills through how well they're sang and how epic the instruments make them. But the LYRICS...are messy. When you sit down and actually LISTEN to what's sung, it all just...BLEH. That's the best way I can describe it, I'm sorry! It's BLEH!
Why would a king in a fairytale kingdom in the distant past sing, "You're sure you're not the prob?"
"Throwing caution into every warning sign" doesn't come across as a person freeing herself from her insane king's vague warnings but ADHERING to them.
The way that Asha and King Magnifico sing about protecting wishes makes it sound like they're singing to EACH OTHER.
And "You're A Star." OH BOY! The song that's meant to explain how these animals can magically talk is just filled with allegories and allusions that think they explain EVERYTHING only to explain NOTHING. It's just vague nonsense that, again, SOUNDS nice, but offers no real substance. On its own, I guess I can get into it, but to tell a story, it falls apart. Because that's the difference when it comes to writing a regular song and writing a musical: You're not just making a good song, you're telling a story through MUSIC. Wish's soundtrack is one that's filled with catchy songs, but not ones that properly move the story forward. Not to mention how they're so jarringly out of character in cases like "This is the Thanks I Get." When Disney released the soundtrack, that was my favorite song because I felt like it perfectly fit this smug, egotistical prick who thought he was the best person alive. Turns out that's not what Wish was going for...Not entirely.
Magnifico feels like he's meant to be a mix between Gaston and Maleficent. A character that has a huge ego and loves himself more than anything, but has an incredible amount of power to make himself a threat. If done right, a villain like that could stand up to be with some of Disney's best. And, yeah, like everything else in this movie, he ALMOST works. When he's finally a villain, he's campy and over the top, making him entertaining...But notice how I said "When he's finally a villain." That's because Magnifico doesn't really become what he's meant to be until halfway through the movie. He starts off as a King with good intentions but paranoid ideals that doesn't make him evil, it makes him feel like a guy who needed evidence to prove that other magic isn't a threat. By the time he finally acts more like a Disney villain, it was such a jarring left turn that his sudden switch-up made me feel like it was somehow a nightmare sequence from Asha. He's NOTHING like the guy he starts out as, and it's not a natural change that flows well throughout the film. That's mainly because the story has a pacing problem worse than any movie I've seen. If King Magnifico's path to the dark side was slow and gradual, showing signs of his worst qualities first and make them more apparent as the film goes on, he would have worked INCREDIBLY. Instead, it comes across as his villainy was activated like someone flipped a switch in his brain that says, "Be evil now." It's the absolute REVERSE of a bad redemption story, mixed with a lazy explanation that it was dark magic that made him more corrupt when he should have been evil since minute one. And you want to know the worst part? He's probably the best character in this.
Asha...isn't bad. She's your standard quirky nice girl protagonist that Disney just LOVES to use, especially lately. It's just that Asha doesn't have that "Gets stuff done" attitude like Moana or Mulan, nor does she have the infectious charm like Maribel or Anna. Asha, instead, is a lot like her breakout song: Nice and enjoyably, but doesn't stand out from the biggest hits. As for her animal sidekick Valentino...He's not annoying, but he's not funny either. Honestly, his comedy peaked when it was revealed that this cute baby goat sounded like Clayface from that Harley Quinn cartoon. A joke, by the way, that got spoiled by the trailers, so it's not really AS funny in the movie. Honestly, Asha's SEVEN FRIENDS are funnier at times. Speaking of, those characters are very clearly meant to be the Seven Dwarfs. And it is VERY distracting because not only does it feel like only two or three of them are necessary to the plot, but they're the ONLY major reference that the movie shines a light on when it comes to Disney's history.
Would I have wanted this entire movie to be nothing but references of past Disney movies? Of course not. That's not how movies work. But Wish seems to have this problem where it doesn't really COMMIT to honoring Disney's legacy. The most it does is give the Seven Dwarfs human OCs, make them supporting characters, and throws in tiny little easter eggs here and there. Again, some of them are cute, but it's not enough. The same goes for when Wish tries to honor some of the tropes and cliches that Disney popularized. It's an animated musical with talking animals, a campy villain, an objectively pretty protagonist, and goofy sidekicks. But it takes more than ADDING that stuff to your movie in order to honor them. You need to look at what made those tropes and cliches work in the first place and make something that calls back to those classic films while still having something new to say. And Wish almost--ALMOST--has something new to say.
With everything surrounding King Magnifico and how he got more power with people's wishes, I almost thought Wish was going to be a film that called out modern Disney. At least, modern CORPORATE Disney, a company that takes ideas and thoughts created by dozens of talented people, twists them into something unrecognizable, and refuses to give those ideas back when choosing to do NOTHING with this great idea leaves them free of competition. And to stop something evil like that, you must make something of your own and work hard to make your idea yours instead of letting someone more powerful take it from you. I thought that would have been a GREAT message...But of course DISNEY wouldn't want a movie calling them OUT for their one hundred year victory lap. So, instead, we have a message that tries to get the same idea across, but in a simplified way where the wishes are taken LITERALLY and that the only way to get what you want is to wish hard enough for it. That is...NOT the message I want kids to learn from this as it often leads to bad expectations. If this movie tried an ironically anti-Disney message in ANY OTHER year, it would have a better chance of getting away with it. But for a hundred year celebration, there was no chance in hell.
Wish is NOT Disney's worst movie, but it's nowhere near the best. I love SO MANY of the ideas and what it TRIES to do, but there's a difference between good ideas and good executions. It was ALMOST good, but Wish was not the movie anybody was really wishing for...

Is there any part of baldur's gate 3 that you dislike? I know you enjoy the game, but most fans of the old games I see are very critical and you're one of the few that I've seen that seems to love it.
First of all, this is a very fun question, anon! Thanks 💜
Secondly, you're experiencing illusory correlation when you connect "previous BG fans" to "those that dislike BG3." It's further compounded by the fact that most people only get really loud when they're disappointed/upset, and the people that are happy tend not to post as virulently or constantly about said topic. Millions of people have played BG1/2 and then a good chunk of those folks went on to play BG3, so think about all the people you aren't seeing when you see a post like that.
Anyways, there are things I'm either bleh on, annoyed with, or dislike about BG3. I'm too old to expect perfection.
Some of the things I don't like:
Callbacks to BG1/2 like Sarevok and Viconia, though that is more WotC's fault than Larian's, and this goes double for Abdel Adrian being referenced at all in the game. Those books should have been memory holed.
The uneven nature of all the companions' stories. Some have tons of dialogue, reactivity, and the ability to let the player choose to give the companion the choice of how they handle things, with the player's own choices affecting the companion's decision. Others are in a semi-broken state (Minthara) or feel lacking despite being great characters (Wyll) that deserve those choices.
5E D&D is a bad system down to its bones. Its flaws are openly on display in the game; the only reason that the tactical gameplay feels any good is because Larian is very skilled at crafting memorable, enjoyable encounters and they hacked in a dozen different homebrews and house rules to make the damn thing feel any good. BTW, 2E AD&D was a mess for wildly different reasons and the old real-time w/ pause system is conducive to spamming filler encounters, so it's not as easy as saying "old game better" for me.
The lack of companion banter in Act 3 when compared to the previous acts. Hell, even Act 2 has a fair bit less than Act 1.
The way that some companions feel kinda hollow when you're not actively engaged in their romance. More platonic connection! One of my favorite scenes in the game is the platonic stargazing with Gale. Let me dance with Wyll without it being romantic, let me go on a friendly night on the town with Karlach, let me experience some of these scenes through the lens of friendship. I know that this is probably one of the more time-consuming tasks for the team at large, but it's one that I would love to see some day.
The character creator is lacking in body types, facial structure for various ethnicities, and a truly broad scope of what trans/non-binary bodies can look like. However, I'm incredibly grateful for what we did get and I will take one small step if that means it becomes more and more common in RPGs. I'll fight for more, but I will be happy with what we have in this game.
Is BG3 the bestest, most greatest CRPG of all time? No. Do I love BG3? Yes. Is it my favorite BG game? Ask me that question in ten years.

oh dude i just realised there’s not many fics with sick vince and caretaker lucas. could you write something fluffy like that? maybe vince is a little emotional in this one and luke has to be the calm one. no scat please :)
Your wish is my command anon. Loads of cuddly emotional guys, fluff, emeto and no scat, the chef's favourite.
-------
"You look like death," Leo told Lucas as he entered the bus, passing the blonde by as he kissed Jonah goodbye.
"I'm fine," Luke lied through his teeth. In truth he hadn't been sleeping much and he felt absolutely wretched, not physically, but emotionally. No excuse to miss the game next state. He entered the bus and immediately found Vince in the further back, promptly walking to him and sitting down.
"Uhm, Mikey-" Vince tried to say, trailing off.
Lucas frowned, Michael could find another seat, not his. Vince rolled his eyes and leaned against the window, headphones on.
"What's wrong?" Luke asked, poking his arm. He knew why he was feeling like death, but had no idea why Vince was looking like that too.
The bus started and Vince groaned, pressing his forehead to the glass, "nothing."
"Uhm, Luke- That's my... My place..." Mikey pouted as he walked to the back, holding on the seats to keep himself steady. Lucas looked to the side, grabbing Mikey's backpack and handing it to him.
"Not anymore," then completely ignoring the guy he poked Vince again, "are you pissed? What's going on?"
"I'm not pissed," Vince scoffed, although his tone betrayed him. He sighed, moving uncomfortably, "I just wanna be left alone."
It was very uncanny for Vin to act like this, but Lucas decided to shut up. They still had three hours ahead and the whole night at the motel to talk over whatever was bothering his friend.
He leaned back, turning his cap forward and sliding down the seat, scrolling through instagram. It was his newest obsession, most people thought Bella didn't have social media because of how withdrawn she was, but Lucas knew she actually had an account pretty much dedicated to her favorite band.
"What are you doing?" Vince asked roughly forty minutes later, while Lucas read the caption of post completely unrelated to Bell.
"Uhm, stalking."
"How?" Vince leaned closer and then all but planted his head on Lucas' shoulder. Luke bit down a smile, this tactile overgrown dog behavior was much more like the Vince he knew.
"So Bella posted this, three days ago," he clicked back quickly, showing Vince a black vinyl with a red skull on the front, three naked pinup girls sitting under it, all holding devil tridents.
"Spooky."
"Eh, that's the music she likes," Lucas shrugged, "so I clicked on it and turns out its their newest album. Bella commented on their picture-" he flicked through the screens, opening the account of the band, "here. She says can't wait."
"Okay?" Vince frowned, "for the album, yeah? When it's coming out?"
"It came out yesterday," Lucas shook his head, "they're playing in the next town to ours. Friday night."
"Oh- So you think Bella's going...?"
"I do-" Lucas frowned as his cheek met Vince's forehead, "dude, you're burning up."
"Am I?" Vince pouted, "that explains the headache."
"You have a headache?" Luke turned to get a good look at him, "what else?"
"Nothing else mother hen, it's just an annoying headache. Get back here, you're comfy."
Lucas scoffed, settling back down so Vince could use his shoulder as a pillow, "how's your stomach?" he asked, digging through his own backpack and fishing out a water bottle. Vince grunted, raising his own.
"It's fine, a little bleh, but not like I'm gonna be sick," he sighed, "so you're planning on stalking Bella?"
"No," Lucas glared at the top of his head, "I'm planning on giving her the tickets, I know she loves music concerts... Were you feeling bad this morning already? You could've skipped it, it's not that important."
"Since when a game isn't important to you?" Vince huffed, "I don't think that's a smart idea, Bell is going to send the tickets back to you, probably with a bomb."
"At least then she'd know I haven't given up," Lucas rolled his eyes, "a game isn't as important as you are, Vin... Really, is it just the headache? Did you take anything?"
Vince's cheeks turned bright red, but he only nodded, "I took some tylenol before getting in the bus, kinda starting to regret it though."
"Stomach?"
"Just aching," he shrugged, burying his nose further in Lucas' jacket, "Imma try to nap."
"Okay..." Lucas settled back down, "do you want something to eat? Could help with the stomachache..."
"Luke," Vince sighed heavily, "shut up."
"Okay," he bit down on his tongue, pulling his phone back up and returning to the previous endeavor, even if only half hearted now that he was aware Vince wasn't feeling his best.
Twenty minutes later he felt Vince fully slump against him, followed by his breathing turning deep, little snores mixed in. Lucas rolled his eyes, checking his forehead again. It didn't seem any warmer, at least.
They made pretty much the rest of the drive without any accidents, Vince was out until the next ten minutes and Lucas ended up catching a short nap, seeing it was impossible not to feel sleepy when he had a space heater slumped over him.
"We're stopping?" Vince groaned, rubbing his neck as the bus started to slow down, the change of terrain clear by the jumping around.
"Yeah, think we're here-" Lucas yawned in his hand, then frowned as he got a clear look of Vince's face. The sun had already set when they left, but it had been clear out still. Now it was pitch dark and the only lights were from overhead, dim and yellow... "dude, you're green."
"Uhm," Vince grunted, sitting up straight, "how much more?"
"I'm going to check," Lucas got up, grabbing on the seats to walk to the front. Leo, sitting right on the front seat, was completely passed out, headphones on, face glued to the window. Luke snorted, he knew this was a side effect of the heavy motion sickness meds, but it was still amusing to see the blonde who was normally so put together practically drooling. He snapped a picture, then poked the coach.
"Hey coach."
"No," coach Eric shook his head, "get back to your seat, don't come tell me anyone is carsick."
Lucas snorted, "sorry."
The man groaned, clearly already tired of this, "who is it this time? Is it you-"
"Vince."
"Vince doesn't get carsick," coach rolled his eyes, now opening a relieved smile.
"Yeah, no, I think he's actually sick. We're gonna have to put Ryan in his position- How much longer until we stop?"
"Fifteen minutes," Coach Eric frowned, "are you being serious? Vincenzo never gets sick, are you pranking me?"
"Nope, he's got a fever," Lucas shrugged, "okay, gonna get back to my seat-"
"You're switching with me. I'll sleep with Vince, you get the other-"
"No way," Luke scoffed, "I always share with Vince!"
"And he's sick, you're not, we have a game tomorrow."
"I'm not switching rooms," Lucas glared at him, "even if he infects me, I'm not gonna be sick by tomorrow afternoon, it's fine."
"Atwood-"
"I'm not switching rooms," Lucas repeated, "I have to go back to my seat."
"goddammit Lucas!" Coach Eric exclaimed behind him, but Lucas ignored him, once more moving to the back. Vince's eyes were closed and he was leaning back, breathing deeply through his nose.
"Fifteen minutes," Lucas sat down next to him, already grabbing his and Vince's backpack, "can you hold?"
"I'm fine," Vince groaned, although his voice had that horrible thickness of queasiness.
"Yeah, you're fine," Lucas agreed without paying attention, digging through his backpack to find a bag. The guys often made fun of him, for bringing first aid, bags, extra water... But he didn't care. He liked making sure his team was looked after and without fail at least one of the guys got carsick when they went in long trips. More often than not Leo.
"Where did you get it anyway?" Vince asked, probably trying to get his mind off of the way his stomach was sloshing around. Lucas frowned, successfully retrieving a thick plastic bag from under his uniform and holding it out in case it was needed.
"The bag? My backpack-"
"The ring," Vince corrected, "like the rest of the story I get. The restaurant, the fight-"
"I was there, I remember," Lucas said sourly, but he couldn't be too aggressive when he could clearly tell his friend was feeling shitty.
"and I even understand you not telling me about the breakup or the proposal after it happened, because she said no-"
"Vince," Lucas winced, heart aching, "I really don't wanna-"
"But a ring you can't get last minute," Vince frowned, opened his eyes only to immediately close them again as nausea washed over him, "so?"
Lucas knew exactly what his friend was implying: that he had thought of the proposal with enough forethought to order a ring. That was probably the part that stung the most.
"When my mom died I got all of her inheritance," Lucas explained, pushing the words, his lips felt numb. He couldn't remember the last time he had spoken about his mother, "before she got sick... She was really into jewelry, she liked fine arts, operas, you know... Culture and arts, it was a big part of her campaign."
Vince nodded, breathing shallowly through his mouth, "so it was her wedding ring?"
"No," Lucas shook his head, "couldn't bring myself to use the actual wedding ring, it's just- Too many memories. It was just one of the rings. I keep all the pieces in my room's safe, so I actually just compared all the rings until I found one that matched Bella's ring size."
"You're stupid," Vince groaned, then wiped the cold sweat that had collected over his brow, pushing the hair back, "has it been fifteen minutes?"
"Nope, try drinking some water-"
"You got a bag?"
"Yeah, I got one. You're good," he squeezed his friend's arm, "deep breath."
"I'm not in labor," Vince groaned, then reached out blindly, taking the bag. He didn't open it, only kept it tightly between his fingers, "I can taste my lunch."
"Ew," Lucas winced, "try the wat-"
Vince ignored him, opening the bag and holding it close to his mouth, hunched over it with shallow breath. Lucas held his shoulder tightly, just in case he had to leap for the bag.
He heard a small, breathy burp and could hear perfectly as Vince's stomach complained, growling, "that sounds nasty."
"Feels nasty," Vin agreed, spitting inside the bag, "please tell me we're almost stopping."
"We're almost stopping," Luke lied, "really, just hang in there for a second."
Another wet belch answered him and Vince panted, bringing up even more spit, "I'm never eating duck again."
"It's not the poor duck's fault," Lucas teased, glancing nervously out of the window, "you're probably just carsick on top of the fever."
"Or the flu."
"You had the flu last month," Luke frowned, "seems bizarre you'd get it again."
"You tell me," Vince gagged suddenly and then his back arched with a loud heave, loud enough some of the guys turned on their seats to look at him. Lucas cringed in sympathy, but again nothing came up.
"God," Vin groaned, letting go of the bag and squeezing an arm around his belly. He burped once more, then again, then again and Lucas leaped for the bag, holding it open just in time to catch a very thin stream of vomit.
"Breathe, dude, you're okay..." Lucas said helplessly, holding the bag with one hand, the other in Vince's shoulder. Much to his relief, the bus came to a stop moments after.
They got rid of the bag in the parking lot, Vince taking deep measured breaths, but seeming to be feeling at least a little bit better now that they were no longer in a stuffy moving bus.
"I think you need meds again," Luke declared as they finally got the keys to their room. It wasn't an expensive hotel, far from it, but it had two queen beds and its own bathroom, which was all they needed.
"Not gonna stay down," Vince shook his head, falling on the bed face first and kicking off his shoes. He rolled to his side when lying on his stomach proved to be a bad idea, pushing up another sick burp, "my head is throbbing."
"Fever," Luke sighed, grabbing a water bottle in the mini bar and cracking it open, "bottoms up."
"Gonna come back up," Vince glared at it, but Lucas was unrelenting.
"Yeah and your head will hurt a lot more when you're dehydrated. Take small sips."
"Is there a bin?" Vince undid his pants, kicking them down and crawling back up in the bed, managing to sit against the headboard.
"Put these on," Lucas rummaged through Vince's bag, grabbing a pair of sweatpants, "you're gonna freeze your balls."
"Lovely vision, Luke," Vince rolled his eyes, planting a hand under his hoodie, "seriously, get me a bin, the water's not settling."
"Already?" Lucas pouted with concern, grabbing the waste basket and handing it to him. He sat on the edge of the bed too and took the water bottle that Vince passed him back.
"Uhm..." Vince leaned over the basket, gagging softly, nothing like his normal violent retches, and then all the water made it back up, practically untouched. He coughed, squeezing the basket to his chest, "kill me now."
"Can't kill my best friend, ask someone else," Lucas rolled his eyes, "okay bud, plan of attack. Symptoms?"
"Really Luke, kill me," Vince ignored him, resting his forehead on the edge of the bin.
"Nausea, clearly," Lucas ignored him right back, "headache, fever."
"Stomachache," Vince added, "sore throat."
"So not the stomach flu," Luke said brightly, "see, that's a win."
"Doesn't fucking feel like a win," Vince grimaced and gagged again, but brought up nothing, "I'm tired."
"Normal tired or gonna-pass-out tired?"
"Luke," Vince squeezed the basket, "shut up, please."
"Okay..." he chewed on his bottom lip, "I'm gonna find you some medicine. Put on the sweats, seriously, it's like thirty degrees here."
Leo, thankfully, had medicine. His was just for motion sickness, but Lucas grabbed a handful of pills, then got fever medication next door with Spencer, even if the guy refused to look him in the eye ever since Lucas' had nearly broken his nose by accident.
Somewhere in the back of his mind he thought of how glad he was that college was ending. He'd miss all of this, but clearly, things were running their course.
He opened the door to find all the lights out, Vince curled up on his side. Now with the sweats on.
"Got the meds, how are you feeling?"
"I don't think..." Vince bent over the side of the bed, spitting up another weak stream of vomit, "I can play tomorrow."
The admission was more scary than anything. Lucas nodded worriedly, "yeah, I don't think so either... " he sat on the edge of the bed, planting a hand on Vince's forehead, "I think your fever's settled down, though. For now."
"Thanks, doc" Vince grumbled sarcastically, then let out a small whimper, "can you... Can you get in here?"
"Where?" Lucas frowned, planting the medicine on the bedside table, "Vin?"
"I just don't wanna be alone right now, I feel fucking awful."
"Oh..." Lucas' cheeks burned. It wasn't the first time they had shared a bed, but rarely did Vince ever actively invite him into cuddles, "sure. Let me just clean this bin out. Please try the water again?"
"Water's not magic, you know?" Vince scoffed, but did take a small sip. Lucas stripped down his own shoes and clothes, changing into the old hoodie and turning up the heat just a little bit, though he was pretty sure he wouldn't need it since Vince was a furnace.
"So how do you-" he didn't get to ask how Vince wanted to cuddle, the big guy rolled over and then mushed his face on Luke's chest, letting out a painful groan.
Against his hip, Luke could feel Vince's stomach gurgle sickeningly, "that cannot be comfortable."
"It is," Vince moved slightly, breathing out, "you're actually really comfy."
Luke's heart ached a little more and he lowered his arm, resting it around Vince's back, "yeah?"
"Stop sounding smug, I will throw up on you."
"I think you're gonna do that regardless, dude," Luke chuckled, closing his eyes, "you're overheating me."
"Deal with it," Vince sighed, yawning, "thanks, Luke."
"Uhm, anytime," Lucas shrugged, yawning himself.

Omg I've also had to explain the whole "you know the smiler is probably the safest rollercoaster in the world right now??" thing and people just do not get it.
Like "ya but they lost a leg so the ride isn't safe" ok but the ride literally did what it was supposed to do and stopped safely. It was overridden because of human error and that could happen anywhere, and is actually more likely at other parks right now because alton towers are gonna make damn sure it doesn't happen there again while some operators at other parks will go "couldn't happen to us bc we're smarter than that" and get complacent.
"ya but no leg??? So smiler is bad"
But then those same people didn't think twice about fairground rides? And like I love fairgrounds rides but uh I have had to stop the ops from starting the ride because they forgot to put my restraint down before so 😶
(also shout out to Adam from college that approved of going 140mph on the motorway without a seatbelt but said that anyone who went on the smiler obviously didn't care for their own safety)
(hope ur ok w this message i just get very autistic about theme parks and I wanted to let u know I've been there too. Also I agree oblivion is 100% in a different category and I'd never consider someone less of a fan of amusement rides for not liking blivvy bc fuck oblivion is something else)
Yooooooooo! Yah I am also super autistic about theme parks DW you're always welcome to talk to me about rides, sorry for late reply been working a lot (bleh)
Mmm, much like with Chernobyl "human error" is used as a milquetoast way to say "overtired workers", and should be considered as case studies in why workers rights are important for EVERYONE.
I remember at the time the hospital had said to the news they might have to amputate both legs and the lass played hell because she'd just spent like £600 on a tattoo sleeve for her other leg and she was like "I s2g, you DO NOT amputate THIS leg, I JUST had it done!" More annoyed about the prospect of losing those tattoos than the other leg, understandable lol, so the doctors were like "fair enough" and only had to amputate the one
Yeah, I've been to Alton Towers maybe 4 or 5 times as a teen, when my parents moved to England we were only like an hour's drive from Alton so it used to be the "if you fukcing behave we will take you to go on rollercoasters at the end of the year" school trip. I had just about left secondary school by the time they built the smiler though so missed out on that one :( Haven't had the chance to go back yet! (Nemesis holds a special place in my heart, love the coaster, love the blood waterfall) I went to go on Oblivion once to tackle my fear... and then after 20 mins in the queue the ride broke down and I took that as a sign from a higher power lmao
ALSO I was so sad when they got rid of the log flume! It had such good theming! ...Although I understand why. I've probably been to Drayton Manor more than any other theme park and I always hated that bloody boat ride. DEFINITELY needed bars rather than just relying on G-force...
Ohhhh fairground rides really are a different beast! I have gotten actual whiplash on the waltzers before because I'm tall enough now that i can't rest my head against the back unless I slump down in my seat
Had a similar experience with a restraint except I was on some graviton style thingy with carts that spin around a wheel sideways (upright into the air), and while the bar WAS lowered, they seated me (kid, maybe 11 or 12, malnourished as shit so my body-type's probably closer to that of an 8 or 9 yr old) next to a pretty giant dude. So the bar got lowered and its a full foot away from my chest and I just sort of have to lock my limbs against all the surfaces and wrap my legs around the bar like a fucking spider. LEGIT thought i was gonna die on that one.
But you want the epitome of fairground unsafe thrills meets actual rollercoaster speed? Go Blackpool Pleasure Beach! I fucking LOOOOVE Pleasure Beach, there are rides there that were built in the Victorian era, it's got my favourite rollercoaster -a wooden rollercoaster called The Grand National- and it's also got some beastly things
There's this... carousel? It's not exactly a carousel because it's in it's own dedicated room and goes REALLY FUCKING FAST, on the outer lane (there's like 6 lanes of horses!) it's legitimately terrifying, whole things built around an old organ that plays as the ride turns and it lasts AGES, you just have to cling to your horse and hope you dont eat shit on account of the speed
There's also the Steeplechase (idk why they're all horse themed...) this one is more carousel horses except THESE run on tracks, you've got a belt around your waste and their are motorbike style handles sticking out of the horse's head so it's a BIT more secure but if you let go and fell to the side (as is your want i suppose...) you would just be being dragged around by your waist. Now... The "charm" with this one is that as a small child it was quite thrilling, then I took my little brother when I was, oh i dunno 20 maybe?, and WHEN you're an adult, cresting those little jumps (again, horse themed) at maybe 40MPH means you get airtime. Which means you're flung a good foot off the horse for a few seconds and when you reach the BOTTOM of the hill you're gonna come crashing cunt first onto the PORCALINE horse. Which is considerably harder and sharper than an actual horse.
And you stumble off the ride like a cowboy and the attendant laughs at you with a knowingness that tells you he likes this part of his job. A lot.
140MPH?! Do you mean Kilometers?! Otherwise I think Adam's trying to meet the devil lmao

IM SO GLAD YOURE ALSO LOVING SUMMERS FIC IM LIKE ACTUALLY SO IN LOVE WITH IT (insert me going batshit insane) alsooo do look forward to more stupid banter in the middle of supposedly serious situations , they are the best and there are more . stan mcs little water creations tbh
bleh , honestly all my other writing works are old and i think pretty shitty at this point but i can link you to some if you really want (or i could write you a short story / drabble , i feel like thatd be less embarrassing on my part lmao , lmk if you want that) about my games though ... 1 2 3(WIP) the first two are well over a year old now , plus primarily unedited , so dont mind any possible grammar mistakes or generally terrible story flow (i swear ive gotten better since these 😰) and the third was also created last year (for a school project) , im slooowly chipping away at finishing the code haha ...
I ACTUALLY COMMENT ON MY OWN DOCS AS WELL !!! there arent much of them because .. well i havent wrote much outside of my private dms LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also think it is insanely fun to comment on my own work
aand ive contacted my friends (aka my two and only true loves /p /hj) about the kinnie thing .. and one of them sent me this to fill out
Tumblr media
youre not wrong actually haha , am i that easy to read ?
Tumblr media
im an ambivert , i dont like seeking out social interaction irl unless its one of my close friends or im just that bored , but i do get really loud / energetic when i am comfortable (i think you can tell that by how much goddamn energy i put into these asks) but my "social battery" still drains relatively fast i cant handle people very well lmao honestly , my and cynos reasoning for making our terrible jokes align a bit , although most people (apart from my irl friends apparently ???) dont find me intimidating , my main motivation when i slip in puns is to get people to laugh at how terrible they are , because im well aware theyre pretty bad (or all my friends just have the same broken sense of humor i do) . but yeah , i guess now theres two people on my genshin kin list now why do i kin both of the artificial humans in the game -
lets play a game where we ask eachother random questions , so its easier to end things off lol , got a window in your room ? if so , rate the view it has !
- jellyfish
yes the summers fic is so good thank you very much for recommending me it 😖🫶
AND YOOO THOSE GAMES ARE CUTE HAHA i liked nel and akira!!! also impressive how you did 2/3 of them in scratch,, i've had very little experience with it from like a few years back when i took a computing class and damn was it hard as hell 😵‍💫😵‍💫 so kudos to you man
glad i'm not the only one who comments on my own fics on docs LMAO and like you said, it's insanely fun!!!
the way that you're technically all of the above in the bingo 😭😭😭 and that drawing is sooo pretty!£8483£!!£! is that you or an oc of yours? (either way i've been eyeing it ever since i started typing here, hehe)
sooo i basically predicted what you're like irl?
i think for the most part it's because i'm a bit similar to you in some sort of ways, i'm only ever close with my closest friends and can get tired by interacting with people sometimes 😞 but the downside is that everyone finds me scary HAHA 😭😭 my friends had told me a bunch of times on how intimidating i look, when i really just have a normal expression on my face... apparently they said i always look like i have murder on my mind 🚶‍♀️
you now have another addition to the kin list, congrats 🤗
GREAT GAME!!! i do have a window in my room but it doesn't really have a great view... i'm currently living in a shitty apartment for the time being and the only thing i see from the window of my room is my neighbour's unit from my apartment complex 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ so i'd probably give it a 3/10 T-T
now, a question for you! what's the most silliest thing that you currently own? (it can be a purchased item, a gift you got, etc)
hope you're having a great day jellyfish ^^

It's funny though, dungeons are usually the main attraction for Zelda games to me, and I fully admit that Wind Waker's dungeons are kind of a let-down, and yet Wind Waker remains my favorite 3D Zelda lol. I think what's going on here is both "Wind Waker does everything else so well it makes up for it" and "Wind Waker does NOT do a bunch of things I hate that you see in other Zelda games."
Like, okay, the simple act of picking up Wind Waker is a pleasure. The atmosphere of this game is GREAT. It's got the best music in the series (which is DAMN HIGH PRAISE) and its art style is uniquely fun. You'd think a game where a lot of time is spent just sailing around an ocean is going to be kind of boring, but they nailed every detail so you spend your sailing time like you're on an adventure! To this day the Great Sea music just makes me grin. I loved slowly filling in the sea chart: it felt like I was an explorer, mapping the great unknown. And each little isle had something to it. It always felt like there was more to find. But underneath all that fun and charm, you've got a surprisingly deep story. The Wind Waker is effectively a post-apocalyptic story. But where "post-apocalyptic" tends to bring to mind destruction and despair, Wind Waker shows how even after everything you think of as your world (your country, your culture, everything you know), people will still survive. Oh, surely a Zelda story taking place at the time the flood came would look more classically post-apocalyptic, but after the country-ending disaster? The world, as it turns out, still goes on. And then you think about how Ganondorf and the King were portrayed as wrong for trying to bring back the old Hyrule, and you know what I'm just going to say it: Wind Waker did a way better job of a world-after-a-calamity story than Breath of the Wild did. And then the Hero woke up after a century and defeated Ganon and the kingdom was saved? Bleh, boring.
Also it got the obligatory crappy stealth section over and done with early on, which meant it wasn't as hard and annoying as stealth sections in later Zelda games because they aren't going to do something particularly hard that early in the story. And it didn't fill up a bunch of time with what I now call (thanks to ProZD) mandatory egg delivery. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword love to force you to do some other random gameplay nonsense too many times, but once you're done with Wind Waker's Obligatory Crappy Stealth Section your required gameplay is basically just the gameplay you're here for. Exploring the sea, doing puzzles, clearing dungeons. None of that "time to do HORSEBACK COMBAT!" (I'm the outlier who hates horseback combat) or "time to wrestle with Gorons!" or "time to escort a wagon!" or "time for horseback combat again!" or "time to collect tadtones!" or "time for yet another Silent Realm, what did you think after three Silent Realms and a more classic stealth section you were finally done with stealth, haha too bad here's ONE MORE!"
Oh, and Wind Waker lets you have 99 bombs at once after upgrades. That's fuckin awesome.

As well fitted as he finds his love for you to be considering the new found information of you're spite towards the christian god, he also worries you see him only as a way to defy the holy expectations of their children, as much as he'd respect and plays into whatever would make you happy Sebastian isn't merely something to revolt with, he is your lover.
You two are able to connect just a little deeper if you're hatred holds true with reason, he doesn't particularly mind what those reasons if yours might be but as a creature cursed to live the life of a demon Sebastian can certainly say he doesn't favor the christian god a single bit, honestly he holds a respect for gods of other religions no matter how out of his grasp they might be, he knows what he has experienced to be true no matter what others might say to convert him, after all he is a beast of sin.
Sebastian doesn't mind if you start practicing any other beliefs, continuing the religious traditions of your people or learning about one that peaks your interest, he supports you even if he isnt particularly interested himself

i'm hella biased bc i really like pmore but while both are religious in themes (21p and pmore) hayley's lyrics always struck me as someone young handling religious guilt (now we know it was bc of her ex and the fact that he started seeing her while he still was in a relationship, AND then the same happened to hayley) which made it not rancid but just sad, clearly the guys who left the band and mention "political differences" paint a picture too, falling out with friends is a big theme with them. on 21p i do believe you're right his vibes are super rancid and racist all over and he always acts like any request for accountability on his bullshit is a burden while hayley still has to run around saying sorry for saying the word "whore" when she was like 16
i always get 20 asks from pissed off paramore fans but i find a small amount of her work to be offputting ever since i saw a video of her preaching onstage about how she loved god and she knew god was real and in the room and loved her or something. thats totally fine for her to do and express and lots of people identify with that but i personally had a very negative experience with that specific branch of white people protestant(?) christian religion growing up and its something im coming to terms with at my own pace. i know hayley has grown and changed a lot as a person and she was quite young and i dont hold it against her but a lot of their music was written before the extremely homophobic guy left and such and for me the christian themes in their early music are tied to that, so its not something im super deep into like mcr or fob. i know there are people who dont want to listen to pws BS because of bad experiences with men too, like i get it even if that isnt me, its art.
i have difficulty articulating what about 21ps lyrics bother me because pete and gerard and billie evoke religion constantly in ways that i like and identify with. but 21ps definitely seem like youth pastor lessons to me, like they just seem very one dimensional and insidious in a way that skeeves me out because theyre feeding overt bible verses and stories with very little self awareness to 13 year olds disguised as rebelling against the establishment. and like religion isnt inherently bad but tylers brand of religion comes with very overt homophobia/transphobia and very overt racism and its just BLEH
whereas pw is like “i am having a manic episode in the shopping mall and this kid im looking at is god and ive never seen anything so beautiful and hes crying because this deranged man is trying to touch him and fuck god isnt real after all” and then theres like. mama. and tyler is like rewriting bible stories and bible concepts where he is jesus talking to god like the desert one but there is not an ounce of real like actual questioning faith in it its like a bible lesson. like there is but it has the same vibe as when you were in church when you were 11 and your pastor was preaching about doubt and telling a story about doubting god that week but you could tell he was lying and just making it up because doubt was on the planned spreadsheet calendar and you just started feeling weird. sorry this bad mouthfeel is so hard to articulate. and like billie writes himself PLAYING the character of jesus of suburbia but tyler is like “i am jesus because jesus is in all of us 😌”
i dont think hayley williams should apologize for that and i actually think she should be saying whore, i also dont care if brendon urie says whore when he performs i write sins. art is about expression and obviously like there Are Lines but i dont think that calling someone your boyfriend cheats on you with a whore is like a horrible offensive line that art cant depict for fear of causing harm to society. it honestly makes me mad that people try to make their experiences as palatable as possible but whatever i get she has crowd and label and twitter pressure

i don't think you're in the minority when it comes to invested fans! but maybe for like casual listeners or people who don't know them, videos like numb are simple and easy to digest while also looking "epic" (even though i personally think that because you can feel the cheap production, that makes it very eh). i'm with you though, my first mv was easy to hate and it was the absurd plot that caught my attention so idk! also sorry for bothering you on this so much i just wanted to pick your brain. you have interesting thoughts!
YEAH i think thats very much what it is, like i went back and watched numb just so i could make sure i wasnt going crazy and its very, like, high energy sped up footage chaotic camera work which probably appeals to a casual audience..... ppl who just heard and liked the song? i guess?? its not BAD by any means its just not one i feel the need to watch over and over!!!! a lot of the comments are things to the effect of “i just found this and i like it” so i think they just got lucky with the algorithms and it spread to a lot of new listeners!! which is obviously a good thing!!!!!! its still an average, safe mv tho
exactlyyyy like easy to hate is funny and chaotic and portrays the band members as characters which i LOVE and is the easiest way to get me to care about a new band..... i think the first one i ever watched was stupid for you and i felt the same way!!!! theyre funny and they make you wonder what this band is all about so you check them out and go down a rabbit hole learning about the members and yeah...... bleh i dunno maybe im just idealistic and thats not what ~the industry~ and ~the algorithms~ call for anymore lmao

Okay so Fire Emblem anon here!! Here's a Kinda Super Long Bc I Got Carried Away description of a few Fire Emblem games, plus some characters that seem like they hit tropes you like!
The good news is that there's not a super huge overarching timeline, there's several smaller timelines that are seperate from one another except for the crossover games. I'm gonna go with describing the newer ones that you're most likely to be able to get your hands on and play; a lot of people complain that they lean into some anime-tropey stuff and are too easy, but tbh, that's a perk just as often as it isn't. Basically, it's Game of Thrones, but rated T and with more cute girls and old men who are friendly instead of creepy.
Tbh, it's a turn-based strategy game with visual novel elements for characterization, if strategy games aren't your thing and you're just interested in the characters, watching the support conversations on Youtube might be more your thing. All the characterization, none of the resetting the same goshdang level thirty times. Anyways, description of the games in passing, including a brief description of the plot concept, pros and cons, trigger warnings, and some characters you might be interested in if you're just looking up characters.
*line break for legibility*
Awakening: for the 3DS. Follows Robin, an amnesiac mage, after they're found in a field by a band of knights called the Shepherds. Involves the undead, a twink in a mask, timey-wimey shenangians, and the usual cast of oddballs you'd expect from a Fire Emblem game.
Pros of Awakening: customizable player character, intro of Casual mode (turns off permadeath) and the Pair Up system, which lets you put characters together for shipping reasons strategy and stat boosts. Also doubles as a shipping simulator, since you can pair off characters and meet their later in the game due to said timey-wimey shenangians.
Cons of Awakening: there are some....very concerning combos of names/skin tones/plot relevance for certain characters, so go in with a warning about implicit racism. Also if you like strategy games, this game is relatively easy to break and make "too easy," but tbh that's what Lunatic Mode (the Ultra Unfair Hard Mode) is for.
Trigger warnings across the main plot: underhanded politics, attempted assassinations, martyrdom, an optional character is implied to stalk Robin but idk how to tag that, identity crises, conflicts within a family, character who isn't you looks like you, backstory child abuse, an optional character is a bad portrayal of DID if you squint?
*line break for legibility*
Fates: is actually a group name for two games set in the same universe, and a DLC bonus story: Birthright, Conquest, and Revelations. All for the 3DS. All three games star Corrin, a pacifist raised in seclusion in the kingdom of Nohr. Each game reflects a different path Corrin can take in navigating the war between the nations of Nohr and Hoshido: Birthright has them stand with Hoshido, Conquest with Nohr, and Revelations has them strike out (nearly) alone. Each path has a completely different storyline, cast of characters, and difficulty curve.
Pros of Fates: honestly, the characters here cater the most to the avid pro-shipper and multi-shipper. I just love this cast. Both Nohr and Hoshido have four members of the royal family you can play and get to know, each of those royal family members has two retainers who are various levels of dedicated and/or unhinged, and the cast just widens and widens. Also a character customization and shipping simulator point for the same reasons Awakening gets it. Also, canon fujoshi rights (there's a character with a skill called Daydream, which boosts her stats when two male characters are paired up near her. one of us, one of us). Also the first game with canon queer characters: both Rhajat and Niles are bi.
Cons of Fates: unfortunately, the writing is kinda rushed or badly translated in some places. Also *shakes IntSys* my lore! Give me more lore! Also, iirc, you could get both physical games in a bundle for a discount when they came out, but not anymore, so it's sorta like Pokemon with version exclusives. Which is less fun, since you can't directly trade characters. Also the fandom for this game is RIFE with discourse, which is kinda sad bc I just wanna talk my ships with ppl sjxhdjdn
Trigger warnings for Fates: child abuse might as well be Nohr's middle name, in-universe racism (since Hoshido is p obviously Japan-inspired, and a lot of Nohrians are rancid to Hoshidans), kidnapping, on-screen murder, lots of fighting your loved ones (on both main routes, you gotta fight the playable characters from the other side AAA), su-c-de, death of sibling(s) in certain routes, demonic-like possession, there's like six characters people can read as bad mental illness rep, Niles especially is discourse bait for being a kinky (yes that's canon) bi man of color but also he's awesome so die mad antis
*break for space*
Shadows of Valentia: for the 3DS. A remake of Gaiden, the second game in the series. Follows Alm, a farm boy from a small village in Zofia, and Celica, his childhood best friend. Zofia and the nation to its north, Rigel, are two nations ruled by the dragon gods Mila and Duma, respectively. Normally, they're in equilibrium, but Rigel is invading and Mila is missing, prompting Alm and Celica to independently investigate the problem.
Pros of SoV: the most like the old-school Fire Emblem games, but it also has the permadeath-off mode. also the first to be fully voice acted! The art style is gorgeous, and the plot was polished up from the old game--two characters names Berkut and Rinea were added, and they are PEAK OTP the diskhorse can die mad. Also the cast is pretty fun all around, from buddy squad and the older brother/dad figure they adopted along the way to "hello this is my gang of childhood friends, we're gonna kill a god" Also introduces Mila's Turnwheel, which lets you rewind your moves if you realize you goofed big time and screwed yourself over.
Cons of SoV: has the most references to other games, but you won't, like, be lost if you don't get them. You just might have a few interludes of "who tf is Camus/the White Wing Brigade/etc" but it's easy enough to look up on the wiki. Also tbh, the plot kinda drags in the middle, there's some filler battles to try and make it feel more realistic and it feels...weird. Also no custom character, you are Alm and Celica and you will Like It.
Trigger warnings for SoV: you know that thing where a girl character gets killed off for a guy character to angst over? the game starts with a fakeout version of that. also a character slowly goes mad over the course of the plot (but it's really well done imo?), there's some self-sacrifice stuff in there, classism is a major theme, possession/selling your soul™, there's a couple of levels where you're exploring tombs/prisons, I'm sure there's something else but I'm forgetting right now
*line break for legibility*
Three Houses: on the Switch. The newest game in the series, and the most polished imo? Stars Byleth, a wandering mercenary turned teacher at the Officer's Academy. The Academy, housed in Garreg Mach Monastery, teaches youths from across the land of Fodlan how to be warriors, commanders, and knights. Students are sorted into three houses based on their country of origin: the Black Eagles are from ghe Adrestian Empire, led by the heiress-apparent Edelgard; the Blue Lions are from the kingdom of Faerghus, led by prince Dimitri; and the Golden Deer are from the Leicester Alliance, led by Claude, grandson of the Duke. You choose one of these houses to lead, and then everything quickly goes sour.
Pros of Three Houses: It's such a rich experience! The music is incredible, there's so much lore, and you can wander around the Monastery and hang out with the students to your heart's content. Also, it's four storylines for the price of one, even if they're all relatively similar in the first half. It does a pretty solid job of weaving together its themes into a satisfying narrative that will make you consider everyone involved. Also we got our first bi main lord (Edelgard) and non-white main lord (Claude is mixed race) in one fell swoop! Also, given the setting, it's teacher/student ship heaven.
Cons of Three Houses: just gonna come right out and say it: one of the villainous factions in the game is pretty substantially tied up with some anti-semitic tropes. There's no way to ignore it, it's just bleh, and I'm not gonna send anyone in without that warning. Also, though there's some characters you can persuade to switch sides, or spare, there's no route where there's a happy ending for everyone. Also there are so many people who are fake deep about the themes of the game, so be ready for the worst takes imaginable about your faves. also super trigger heavy, see below.
Trigger warnings: MANY. Garreg Mach and the Church of Seiros are very reminiscent of catholic religious stuff, for anyone with religion triggers, blood in cutscenes, death of a parent, death of a sibling (different characters), major gaslighting vibes in some places, lots of people going unhinged, some white savior™ vibes in places, body horror, creepy ass weaponry, backstory genoc-de (mostly not related to the anti-semitism), blood magic (definitely related to the anti-semitism), in general it goes to a lot more effort than the other games to make you think about what's Actually going on, even if it doesn't always work.
*break for legibility*
As for characters you'd like, if you just want to look some characters up, my recommendations based on what I understand about you include:
Awakening: Libra fits 'gnc man of the cloth' so well it's actually a conversation in game: "so what's a woman of the cloth doing here?" "...man, sir, man of the cloth." And Then He Never Gets Misgendered Again. Also Nowi's supports sometimes feel like a jab at antis-- she's a manakete, a person who can transform into a dragon. Manaketes also grow really slowly, as in "middle aged looking manaketes are like 1000 years old," so she's got major baby face and copes with being mistaken for a teenager by making jokes. Also Gregor, who she first appears with, is pretty fun--older mercenary with a thick accent who is like 80% here for a good time. Also Walhart, who's a villain but got some content added as DLC.
Fates: any interactions between Corrin, Leo, and/or Camilla are probably right up your alley--Camilla is obsessively protective over her siblings in a way that's Very Definitely Platonic™, and Leo also canonically has a crush on her in something that was cut in the English release. Also Gunther--once upon a time he was your classic knight in shining armor, now he's semi-retired, Corrin's personal guard, and covered in scars (and his voice is gorgeous too)
Echoes: my biased answer is to listen to every single line Ian Sinclair read for Berkut because he absolutely did NOT have to go that hard. My actual answer is to point you in the direction of the pegasus sisters Catria, Palla and Est, or maybe the older gentleman who's the head of the Priory, I forgot his name oops abbdbd. Also Clive is a devoted husband to one Mathilda, who looks just like an older version of his sister Clair 🤔
Three Houses: knowing you, you'd adore Hanneman--an older professor who's extremely passionate about his work, to the point where he tends to forget personal space and such. Also Seteth, like I mentioned before (join me in simping for him and his gorgeous pecs) and like, honestly, I know ppl make jokes about Alois but he's rlly good. Soft, awkward but he doesn't care, dad jokes everywhere. And also Mercedes, both because she's the biggest sweetheart imaginable and everyone should love her, but also bc she is just walking potential for the kinds of stuff you post on this blog. On one hand, she's the oldest student at the Academy and attached at the hip to one of the youngest, Annette (tho people act like they have a way bigger age gap then they actually do) and on the other hand, she has a long-lost half brother she can encounter (who I will not name for HUGE HUGE spoilers reasons) who she spends the rest of her life with in one of her endings. Heck, he has three possible endings total! Total!
Basically I brought the games up bc I'm used to being on the side of the fandom where everyone shoos anything uncomfortable under the rug, but there's so much material here that's being wasted I SWEAR
If you have any other questions I can send another anon? Your call! Thanks for hearing me out I love ur blog :3
OKAY!!! sorry for answering so late, but this ask was pretty much a BOOK (not that I´m complaining though! thank you so much! ;;u;;)
and from what I read here, I THINK if I´m going off on my first fire emblem adventure, I´ll try and pick up three houses if I get the chance! I have read your trigger warnings (thank you so much! ;u;) and I think I can take it! >:3
again though, I am really, really not a fan of anime and the anime artstyle in general (blergh! XP) so I´m not sure how I´ll cope with that in particular, but then again, an artstyle does not make a game! u3u
AND HANNEMAN SOUNDS LIKE A WINNER TO ME!! I looked him up and OOOF!!! he may not have NEARLY as many wrinkles as I´d like him to have, but the facial hair is definitely a step in the right direction! ;3c
NOW YOU GOT ME INTERESTED!!
LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Innocent or Guilty: Cazhim
Tumblr media
Asked someone to marry you?
"Hah? A romantic are you? Well, No. I can't say that I have. My partner knows how I feel with or without a ring. Though If we ever retire...perhaps." Cazhim appears tickled by your question though his expression grows more thoughtful towards the end.
Kissed one of your friends?
"Yea. Several years back during the early years of my adventuring I had a different partner. A Miqo'te girl. After a while she said she wanted to sort some things out and being young and confused myself, I agreed. We got as far as a kiss but agreed that more wasn’t for us. We still talk but I'm pretty sure she's takin more of a liking to Viera women." Cazhim smiles and shakes his head. Clearly the two have quite a history.
Danced on a table in a bar or tavern?
"I prefer to watch the entertainment rather than be it. Besides those tables are for food not feet." Cazhim folds his arms as he gives his answer. Perhaps his meal has been the victim of a misplaced dance step or two? Might be best not to ask.
 Ever told a lie?
"Of course. Though I find it easier to omit the truth rather than come up with a lie. Keep em’ guessing. That's fun for all involved." He said, leaning forward in his chair as a rather mischievous grin crept across his face.
Had feelings for someone you can't have?
Cazhim tilted his head in minor confusion "No. Though I don't get all that romantic easily anyway."
Ever kissed someone of the same sex?
"Oh! I suppose I was not clear earlier. Xavier is my partner in combat but we are dating as well. We have been together for some time now so I can safely say we are both guilty of that. Cazhim readily replies. His smile a touch warmer than before. He seems pleased to speak more about his partner.
Kissed a picture?
"I have. Sometimes our tasks or...circumstances can keep Xavier and I apart. It helps." Cazhim answers, looking down at his hands for a moment. Clearly these circumstances he mentioned were less than pleasant. Maybe another question to lighten the mood?
Slept until 5pm?
"Hah. Never. Need to make the most of the daylight while we can right? Besides, I need to be awake to put together a proper meal for a certain scholar when he overworks himself again." He responds with his usual simper and calm tone. His mood seems to have improved a touch.
Worked at a restaurant?
"Yea...once." He chuckled, internally deciding how much to explain. "Lets just say that Momodi is a very kind woman and was nice enough to let me pay a debt with work rather than gil."
Stolen Something?
As Cazhim takes a sip of the tea he prepared he simply points at the spherical Allagan droid floating by from time to time. "Does that count? I mean they weren't using it."
Been fired from a job?
"Nope. Though I'm sure I've gotten close once or twice at the Leatherworking Guild." He replies, looking off in to space as if remembering no small amount of close calls he may or may not have had.
Done something you regret?
"Just once and I intend to keep it that way." His gaze meets yours and lingers. You know better than to push for more details.
Laughed until something you were drinking came out of your nose?
Cazhim almost chokes on the tea he was drinking at the time as he hears the question. "N-no. Don't worry about it."
Caught a snowflake on your tongue?
"I have but I don't think I get the appeal. Its much more fun to just eat a handful, right?" He replied, obviously looking for validation.
Sat on a roof top?
"Often! Though the climb is the more interesting part...most of the time. There's almost always a fantastic view at the top as well! I think I have a few sketched here..." Cazhim begins pulling out a journal filled with notes and half-decent sketches of various places he's been. He seems eager to share.
Kissed someone you shouldn't have?
"...I believe we've covered this territory, my friend." He gives a slight nod with his answer but nothing more.
Sang in the shower?
"More of the humming type myself." he says with a smirk on his face.
Been pushed into a body of water?
"Many have tried....Many have failed." He answers as he relaxes back into his chair. His grin grows wider as he remembers past conquests.
Shaved your head?
"Gods no! I don't even want to think about it." Cazhim quickly responds, briefly running a hand through his short but well kept hair.
Made a boyfriend / girlfriend cry?
"I hope not, but I imagine if I ever shave my head I just might. Bleh!" It is clear both this question and the last are incredibly displeasing to him. Perhaps a new topic?
Shot a gun?
"Oh ho yes! Let me show you something." Cazhim stands up and excitedly leads you to a side room filled with boxes of tools, raw materials and a desk cluttered with a variety of design documents. "I dabble in the Machinist trade. I much prefer spit balling designs with the Boss back at Skysteel but every experiment needs a test phase! You should stop by the factory. The Boss always likes seeing new faces."
Still loved someone you shouldn't?
"No, but I can't say I've loved that many people. Especially not romantically." He seems more caught up in reorganizing his workshop then this particular question.
Have a tattoo?
"Not my thing. Clashes with my scales. I've seen some pretty cool ones on the other monks around though. Maybe I could engrave my revolver with one..." His focus is barely there. Perhaps it would be best to relocate.
Liked someone, but will never tell?
"Eh, life's too short for that. Might as well take your shot while you can. Worry too much and you're likely to make yourself sick with regret" He replies over his shoulder as he leads you back to the living room.
Been too honest?
"Honesty has never been an issue. As I said omission is a powerful tool." His mischievous smile returns along with his focus on your questions.
Ruined a surprise?
"Can't say that I have, luckily."
Been told you were beautiful by someone who totally meant it?
"A few times. It's nice to hear...even if its almost always out of the blue nowadays. Xavier tends to do that." He says with a warm smile on his face.
Stalked someone?
"Eh yea actually. A friend of mine had a hunch about one of our clients. Thought they weren't giving us all of the details. She was most certainly right. Luckily we sorted everything out."
Thought about murder?
"I assume you're referring to something more scandalous than what goes on in battle. If so: No. I've kept very few loose ends that need that kind of...attention." His tone makes it clear he is not pleased by this sort of question.
How about mass murder?
Cazhim stares at you for a moment before replying "I see no circumstance where I would need to."
Cheated on someone.
"No" he says almost before you finish speaking. He quickly downs his tea before standing to make more.
Gotten so angry that you cried?
"Yes, my friends are talented, dedicated and not afraid to risk life and limb at the drop of a hat. However; that doesn't always mean things will go their way. Sometimes it gets the in trouble. The sort of trouble I can't pull them back from..." He says while prepping a kettle. He does not turn to face you but you can tell a bad memory is on his mind.
Tried to stay away from someone for their own good?
"No. Only for my own good. Briefly." He says before placing another cup before you. He does not seem inclined to elaborate.
Thoughts about suicide?
Cazhim simply begins sipping from his own cup. A moment passes before waving a dismissive hand in your direction. Your question goes unanswered.
Had a girlfriend or boyfriend?
Cazhim scoffs but not with ill intent. "How about I say this instead. Yes, Xavier is the only person I've ever dated. Everything before has been more...temporary."
Gotten totally drunk during a holiday?
"I'm not much of a drinker. A spiked lemonade or a sip of spiced wine at most but that's mostly just for others who may get the wrong impression if I don't eat or drink at all."
Whoa! Okay well that was loooong but fun! Helps me flesh out Caz's personality. I hope who ever decides to read this has fun and if you really like it then why not try it yourself? Thanks for tagging me: @windup-scholar Stop by their blog to see even better OC stuff. From Art to asks like this one. See ya.

I'm not sure why I haven't posted anything here yet since this world craziness started... Normally I would have bombarded it with posts everyday and such.
This social distancing is my life style, so I've been doing pretty okay better than most unfortunatly. Thank you Tumblr, and hours of scrolling for preparing me for this moment in time!
I've been filling my days with video games, reading and trying to force myself out for runs. I've helped my mum clean the house. (She has a bad back and would end up killing myself if I didn't go over every once in a while to help out)
I've also recently shaved my head! Finally, I've wanted to do it for years to see what I'd look like and to get rid of the years of dying it and hairstyle frustrations. I like it, but some days I get self conscious and don't end up going for runs. But maybe I'm just using that as an excuse and I'm just hella laazy!
It's a learning curve for sure, I've been reading a lot of philosophy lately and listening to the philosophize this podcast for the past year now so I've been trying to work on myself, thinking more and trying to meditate and gain self confidence and just be able to help myself help others. If that makes sense? Anyway, cutting off all your hair really helps practice Stoicism. There's no instant regrowth, and my hair takes longer to grow out than normal people.
I do love myself, a hella a lot more than I used to. There's nothing I wouldn't change, and I think that mind set alone has been what gets me out the door more often for runs and wanting to take care of my body and mind!!
I've also been cooking more, to save on money and because I'm not a huge advocate for waste being delivered to my door. I have had breakdowns however, I did it twice, I've ordered breakfast for myself to help me get up earlier and to get better coffee. Because the Maxwell can is not working out for me, and it's so gross, its taking me forever to get through it! I'll still drink it though, because, caffeine! Hello.
Back to cooking more! I've been mostly making mashed potatoes and what nots, but I'll occasionally make a vegan grilled cheese or have vegan hot dogs! I've made some pasta, quinoa and lately before bed I'll get a chia bowl ready to set while I sleep. That's pretty healthy and delicious. I've made terrible pancakes, I accidently got the whole wheat flour rather than the other stuff, soo that wasn't a fun mistake. Alas, no waste, so I have to make it into things!
I also signed up for a sustainable cities online course, lots of reading, but it was on sale. If anything it'll help me plan imaginary cities better in my head and I'll be able to put it on resumes. So level up?
I've re arranged my living room so I can easily switch between laptop and PlayStation without having to get up for any reason! +40 laziness. Aha. Fun.
Cats bombard with with attention and cuddles All. The. Damn. Time. I thought cats were supposed to not care and be independent and stuffs. Not my cats, noo. I wake up pinned, cat by my head, in the curve of my back and on my feet! If I'm laying on my back xews will be on my chest. Like hello! Let me breathe. They follow me to the bathroom, and to the couch! My couch is tiny, and all three of them find a little spot and take up all the space. It's hard to take notes! Anyway. I love them, I love their cuddles I'll never take them for granted and I'll always be like okai in the lap you go! It's nice playing a videogame with your cats stretching their paw onto your paw!. #catmum
Works been telling me the new opening day is July 3rd.. July 3rd two more months of this madness. I'm okay with it though, I'll hopefully finish the online course and get out for more runs! I've signed up the the social distancing run thing, I'm hoping to do a 10k for it!
Our government is all over the place about everything, and its making people crazy! There's lies, uncertainty questions unanswered. There's conspiracies left and right and I don't know which ones to believe. I mean some seem drastic and obviously crazier than others. I'm just not politically educated enough for this. But what if they're true to? I dunno, I've been watching a lot of things and reading stuff of history and stuffs and theirs some people that end up being corrected and proven right when people thought they were insane ? And yea people are just crazy and have their crazy thoughts. I dunno. I just want to have a back seat, and I mean my first and foremost fight is with nature, so my bias towards anything will be on how it affects the future of how we live with nature. If that makes sense? I could go on and on about this part, but this part makes me the most unwary and depressed honestly. I've been crying for days about this and where I stand, I've always been one to stand with the people. But which people? My brain hurts. I'm a sheep guys. I'm a sheep. I'm just a very lost sheeple.
People that I know from South Africa sent me a message saying that they were starving and asked for help, I wasn't sure what to do. I sent them some money, but I don't have much to give. I hope it'll be enough to get them by for a couple of days! I haven't heard from her since? So I don't know?
Anyways.
I haven't heard from my possibly future school yet about the upcoming semester and what to do, am I still able to go? Are they going to be opened by end of August? Will I be allowed to travel to another province? I'll wait till the end of May to send an email and find out! I am not doing that course online, I have a hard enough time motivating myself to do this current baby course. And I really want to do well in this course if I get there! It was a whole thing guys.
Before all this started I had started therapy, volunteering for the theater and taekwando. I'm really sad that i haven't been able to take part in these new hobbies. I had the chance to volunteer for the opening of the wizard of oz production before all the other shows at the theater got cancelled. It was amazing. Maybe I'll be able to do something similar while I'm in Vancouver. I only had one beginning trial class for taekwando, I'm slightly sad because by the time it reopens I'll probably be heading to Vancouver and won't be able to attend.
Cancelling therapy was the hardest, I had just started after years and years of being afraid to go for many reasons. I only got two sessions in before having to stop due to being laid off. But it's okay, because I still have my writing as my therapy. I end up asking the questions to myself while writing. I've read a lot of psychology, well not a lot, but a good amount. But the extra help and guidance was nice. I learned new terminology that applied to myself and my childhood and a couple other things that I'm able to sit back and acknowledge during meditations.
It was like I was finally getting out more, trying to fix myself, trying to go meet new friends and say hello to the world. And then the world was like nah. Back to social distancing! Kay, thaanks.
The last three or so days I've felt a little pull back into myself and I couldn't motivate myself lately. I think a large part of it was due to an argument I had with my mother, and the political drama that's been going on lately.
Wanting to go on runs or outside to enjoy the chilly sunny day has been a struggle, when it hasn't been I'm a while. I was playing ESO with a couple friends when all of a sudden all I wanted to do was just lay on the couch, curl up with my eyes closed and just bleh. I listening to the ESO music for a while and remembered that I haven't wrote anything in a long while on Tumblr or anywhere. So here I am, returning to my old therapy just writing my garbage thoughts to replace them with happier more motivated ones. It's sort of working, we'll see how the day goes.
All in all, I'm okay, my family is okay. And only time will tell what craziness is next for this year!
If anyone read this far down, first of all thank you. You're probably someone that I love! Love you <3 and I hope you're also doing well, and staying safe!!!

Disney Movie Marathon #39 Dinosaur (2000)
I've seen this a few times but when I was much younger. I don't know how the CG holds up now but I know as a kid I thought this movie was cool. I don't think I knew it was Disney since it wasn't 2D but I still had a fun time.
Story: Okay so the movie overall was mildly entertaining. We follow a dinosaur and his family of lemurs after their island gets ruined and they follow a herd of dinosaurs heading to a nesting ground. The movie goes so hard in the beginning nothing after really gets to that level of extreme. There was so much in those first 15 minutes that was like a mini movie on its own. Granted had it ended there it would have been very sad but it was really good. There are some tense moments but that meteor sequence was nuts. And the main character doesn't really go through much growth. He's a good guy and set in his ways and it's more to inspire kindness in others and work together not apart. Simple premise
Characters: Like I mentioned the main character is already a good guy and the only thing he grows into is loving? a new lady dinosaur he meets. That's all that lady dino is really there for. Lemur family isn't bad either and are the more... maybe not interesting but dynamic bunch? It's one of those movies you see and hear a character you know exactly what kind of personality you're getting
Art/Animation: Now Disney's starting to get real ambitious in terms of breaking the mold with their standard 2D work. I had to look up how this movie was made because some shots I was like oh wow that's really really good for 2000... wait... are the environments live action but dinosaurs CG? Turns out yes that was the case and I couldn't tell before because I've only seen this movie on VHS. Anyway I admire what they were going for here but 90% of this movie looks bleh. I'm not talking about the CG characters designs. A lot is traveling with these monotone dinosaurs in the desert and it just looks so dull. Aside from the few scenes that deal with plants this movie looks sad. The desert looked nice once during sunrise when some interesting color was going on but after that nah.
Songs: No songs here but a decent score actually. Whatever the main theme is/song that plays during the opening with the egg I like.
