Silly Ol’ Bear- Bombur x F!Dwarrow!Reader
As always with me it’s Ur Clan hours & my mind is full of fluff of my muses 😌 I can’t get over the popular fanon/actors’ headcanon about our boi having like 13 or 14 kids- he’s such a family man ok??? Note: in this time period they’re the equivalent of late teenagers!
Tumblr media
You are peacefully crossing the house you visited, soles of your shoes tapping lightly upon wooden floors, when like little firecrackers two small shapes barreled toward you.
“Run!” A small voice called.
“Run,” the other agreed, “the bear is after us!”
Crowding about your skirts were none other than Fili and Kili, Dis’s young sons. You couldn’t help but smile and reach out to pat their wee heads- young as they were, they had little memory of Erebor’s evacuation. Childhood ease still shone in the princes’ eyes. While you yourself had not dwelt in the Lonely Mountain, some extended relatives had, thus your visit and that of some other dwarves from the Blue Mountains.
“You’re being chased by a bear?” You played along with the boys, still smiling through your feigned serious tone.
“Oh, yes, he’s big and ferocious and-”
“Raaaah!” Before Kili could even finish, a playful roar echoed through the room. “I’ll catch you both yet!”
Squealing, the boys hid further behind your skirts, Kili even trying to get beneath them as you jumped, shaking your head. They were but little ones, after all.
The bear in question was none other than your dear friend Bombur. He, too, was visiting the settlement, and you thought you’d heard Dis task him with watching the boys. He was the younger brother in his family, so you couldn’t help wondering at that how he was with wee dwarves.
And, it seemed, you were getting your answer. With giggles of protest, Fili was scooped up into your fiery-haired friend’s arms and held prisoner, though quite gently, you noticed. Kili called out small protests from some layer or another of your dress.
“Are you going to eat me, Mr. Bear?” Fili asked as he squirmed in Bombur’s arms, his little brown fur coat making him resemble something of a bear cub himself.
“Oh, no,” the broad dwarf replied slowly, shaking his head as his cheeky smile grew, “I’m going to put ya in my stew first, then I’ll eat ya!”
“Not when I am here!” Kili shouted, finally ducking back out of your dress and running forth as he produced a wooden sword. “My brother is no stew!”
The dark-haired brother leapt forward, all but knocking Bombur and Fili over as they rolled around and roughhoused, your friend clearly letting the boys be the victors as Kili slashed the air above his neck.
“I cut off your head!” He shouted with wicked, boyish glee.
“No,” Bombur called, voice weakening with every syllable, “no prince stew for me! Nooooo…”
Laying his head down dramatically and sticking his tongue out, Bombur ‘perished’ as the lads cheered. Shaking your head with amusement, you caught the way he winked at you, flushed a bit.
When Bombur stood up, he took the young princes with him, one hanging off of each arm as if a reminder of his strength. As they dangled, you reached over to your friend, taking his shoulders and starting him in a spin that had the little ones cheering again. Shortly after that, though, key turned in lock and the lads went back off with their mother who had returned from the market with their favorite iced buns, leaving you and your dear friend on your own again by the home’s flickering hearth. You peered at Bombur with a smile.
“What?” He looked genuinely puzzled.
“Didn’t know you were so good with little ones until now. Guess I’ve never seen you them before,” you told him.
“Aye,” he nodded, glancing down a bit, “I’ve always loved ‘em.”
“You must be looking forward to having your own once we reach age, huh?” The two of you were the same age, born mere months apart, and that alone had drawn your mothers together before you’d even realized it had done the same for you. Both you and Bombur would become adults soon enough, of the age to start contemplating if you’d like to marry.
“Of course I am,” he lit up, blue-grey eyes glistening, “I want my own little army!”
You could see it. As good as he was with Fili and Kili, why not more?
“What’s an army,” you asked, amused, “a dozen?”
“A baker’s dozen!” Bombur countered, grinning.
“Thirteen?” Lightly you smacked his arm, to which he just smiled sheepishly. “You silly ol’ bear!”
By Mahal, he really was serious about this. Then again… you pictured twins, two tiny versions of the broad dwarf, maybe another set, one with hair his vibrant shade of red…and maybe one with a color more like yours… perhaps a couple little dwarrowdams if you were lucky…
You shook your head, feeling quite warm as your friend’s voice speaking your name cut through your reverie. Like it or not, you really had fallen for him.
“What about you?”
The images you’d just seen flickered through your mind again like the inviting fireglow reflected off of his eyes, dancing across your mind alongside the contented beat of your heart.
“I think I’d like a big family, too, you answered almost reflexively. Even if you’d never thought about it before, it was like a switch went off, gears turning in your mind.
“Well,” Bombur replied, smiling much more softly that time, “that makes me happy.”
For some years you’d wondered at his words and their purpose. Wondered, hoped, imagined this and that time and time again, until the day he called you his One, asked you to become his wife because he couldn’t imagine bringing up that baker’s dozen with anyone else.

Okay this is something i came up with 5 minutes after a panic attack to comfort myself. So if this is bad and theres a lot of typos dont blame me blame the panic attack
Also i didn't just steal a part of the plot from the dsmp what do you mean...
Tumblr media
It was already pretty late at night and the company was camping near a lake next to forest. Bombur had just finished cleaning up the dishes with the help of Bilbo and Bofur. You were sitting near Kili and Fili who were laying on their bedrolls.
They were telling you stories of some of their past experiences with dwarrowdams and women. Thorin was discussing something with Gandalf, Dwalin and Balin and the rest of the company were chatting quietly.
"After she had rejected me she went and asked Fili out on a date saying she preferred an older dwarrow with a proper beard" Kili said with hurt in his eyes but a small smile on his face.
"And what did you do, Fili?" you asked. "I told her that i preferred more kind-hearted dwarrowdams and walked away with Kili" Fili said with a smal grin on his face.
"Thats actually a good comeback" you noted.
"Yeah i have gotten rejected 32 times so Fili has had time to figure out good comebacks" Kili muttered.
"You have been rejected 32 times?! Let me tell you something that is 32 people in Middle-Earth with no taste" you declared loudly catching everyone elses attention too.
"Y/n i want to marry you" Kili said half jokingly. "Yes i will marry you my dearest Kili" you replied. "Actually? You joking or are you serious?" Kili asked.
"If you are joking then i'm joking but if you're serious the i'm serious" you answered.
"Well i was joking but now i think im serious?" he said and moved to a sitting position. "Well then i guess we will get married" you shrugged.
"Shouldn't you two court first?" Fili chimed in.
"Ahh screw the formalities" you whined.
"Y/n"
"Yes Kili?"
"Can i court you?"
"Yes, i would love that"
"So i can put a courting braid in your hair?" Kili asked enthusiasticly. "Yes of course" you answered.
Kili started braiding a part of your hair while everyone else were eyeing the two of you wondering about the small plot twist in your lives.
When the braid was done you just looked at Kili as you smiled at each other. "I want to kiss you" he declared.
Before he said anything els eyou quickly leaned in and kissed him passionetly and he pulled you into his lap.
Suddenly you felt happy those 32 idiots had rejected him.

Fili, standing with his back turned: I’ve been expecting you, (y/n).
Y/n: How did you do that without turning around?
Fili: ... To be perfectly honest, the first couple of people I did that to were not you.

So I’ve been throwing up all night and day, to the point ever water makes me sick and I just wanted to feel some warmth, how would the company react to a sick modern-reader?
A/N: Since I was stuck on every other WIP I had (joy) I opened this request again in search of something else to write. I felt like the company reacting to a sick reader has been done so many times, so I didn't really know how to write this while still being original. I figured I'd do it headcanon style, because people seem to love it when I do that. Besides... laughter is the best medicine right? Although I haven’t made that many jokes in this one, I’ve been a good girl :)
Requested: well yes, there is an ask at the top of this post isn't there...? @that-teen2003 this one's for you
Warnings: mentions of being sick, throwing up (non descriptive), awkward dwarves, everyone brings out their inner Dori at some point, green (both the word and the colour)
How the Company Reacts to a Sick Modern Reader
Tumblr media
it's not like you were doing it on purpose, getting sick
even though most of the Company thought you were at first
the Dwarves weren't hostile towards you but they weren't exactly friendly as well
you couldn't blame them since you kind of ambushed them, appearing out of nowhere
popping into Middle Earth straight from The Modern World™
you gave each and every one of them a heart attack
a lot of high pitched shrieks were heard when you fell into their midst
none of them wanting to admit you startled them
insisting it was you who had screamed like a little girl, not them
extra deep and low voices and rumbles for a few days after
even if they agreed to take you with them, planning on leaving you at the first human settlement they passed, it didn't mean they were happy about it
you weren't exactly a useful addition to the Company
no battle experience
no fighting skills
hardly any strength compared to theirs
no beard
no equipment or weapons, not even a blanket or an extra pack of clothes on you
you were wearing sandals for Durin's sake, having to stop constantly to get little rocks, pebbles or twigs out of them
questioning but mostly disapproving looks about your choice of wardrobe
which was a shirt with shorts, and the sandals
tHe sANDALS
"I was enjoying my day at the beach, it's not like I planned on ending up here!"
but Dwarves are Dwarves, their hearts still in the right place
some might be a little off center but they're trying
everyone giving a few spare items so you were a little more protected against the elements
Nori giving you items you knew couldn’t be his
Ori starting to knit thick woolen socks to keep your toes from freezing in the mountains and a scarf to match
but it wasn’t only the elements you were struggling with
it was also the food, or the lack thereof
surviving on meager portions of stew every single day while hiking non stop took a toll on your body
really bad
as if you weren’t a burden enough
not your words
you heard the mumbling and complaints about you slowing them down
so you decided to be helpful and look for edible plants to get some extra vitamins in, trying to recall your biology lessons on how to recognize poisonous plants and flowers
you were over the moon when you found some kind of plant that looked pretty similar to green cabbage
the Dwarves were a lot less enthusiastic when you showed up with your arms full of the greens, refusing every bit you tried to offer them
“I don’t like green food”
“If it’s green it’s not meant to be eaten”
“Please tell me there’s meat on the menu as well”
cheering when Fíli and Kíli showed up with their hunted prey
smug little bastards
too stubborn for your own good you refused the meat and munched on your green cabbage leaves instead
it tasted horrible
your stomach seemed to agree on that because the next day you were sick
we're talking stomach aches, fever chills, nausea, cramps
“ye look a bit green there”
cue boisterous laughing
encouraging back slaps from the dwarves trying to get you to move faster than your snail pace
most of them just found it hilarious you weren't feeling your best at first
“Told ya te keep to what Bombur made us, but ya wouldn’t listen”
but then you got worse and couldn't go any further
your legs felt like jelly and all you wanted to do was curl up on your borrowed bed roll and suffer in silence
some of them started to take pity on you and could convince Thorin to set up camp early
Oin gave you something to help your stomach and told you to go to sleep
but instead of helping, whatever he gave you made you violently sick
strong dwarven medicine isn’t meant for humans after all
you emptied your stomach in the nearest bushes, scaring most of the wildlife away and perhaps a few Dwarves too
they finally realized this was serious
the rough dwarven warriors turning into 🌈Care Bears🌈 almost instantly
they took shifts sitting by your side
each Dwarf trying to make you feel better in their own way
Thorin’s way of helping was stopping earlier that day to give you the chance to rest, he loudly declared that this was all he would and could give you
the extra blanket on top of you was his, he claimed not to know how it got there
his eyes constantly went to the side of camp where you were resting to check how you were to keep an eye out for orcs or other scum
Kíli and Fíli sat by your side together, one as calm as could be while the other constantly urged his brother to get Oín, because you shivered or you hadn’t moved for about a minute
“Kíli, they’re sleeping, of course they’re not moving”
Bofur took up his shift when a bout of high fever kept you awake, telling you stories about Ered Luin that were so fantastic and magical that you doubt they were true (they weren’t)
Dori of course had an absolute field day taking care of you, bossing everyone around (meaning mostly Ori poor lad), fussing over you every chance he got
Bifur gave you a miniature sculpture he had whittled while you were out the first few hours, the detail on it was astonishing
you loved it so much you kept it in your hand the entire time
Gloín gave you something similar to rusk, to try and nibble on it when you started to feel better, it helped his wife back when she was pregnant with his wee little son
“They’re not pregnant Gloín!!”
Balin told you stories during his watch, just like Bofur did, only he told you about Erebor and its marvelous architecture
you were fascinated at first, finally learning about the location the Dwarves were heading to - they’ve been rather secretive about it after all - but when he started on the history and kept reciting dates, you felt yourself dozing away
the next morning you felt a lot better
it probably just had been a simple food poisoning
(you should’ve known better than to eat random plants but curse your stubborn nature)
that night when Bombur made yet another stew, you kept your mouth shut and silently ate your portion
the dwarves fell back into their normal habit of teasing you maybe a little too easy
“Hmm, you know what this stew misses Bom?”
you stared at Bofur, who was grinning at you like a Cheshire cat - even though he didn’t know what that was, you realized - and you knew what he was going to say
don’t say it
don’t you dare say it
“Greens”

A Braid and Two Promises (Bofur x Reader)
Main Masterlist The Hobbit/LOTR Masterlist
Summary: After a close call Bofur decides that now is the time to act on his feelings for you.
A/N: This is my First Hobbit Request! Please Feel free to send any! I am so happy with this work thank you random Anon for requesting # 5 on my promptlist!
Tumblr media
Rivendell was a surprising to see. Gandalf really pulled a fast one and Thorin was not happy. You begin to travel across a bridge that has a deep chasm below and through the archway. Once in the center you are greeted with a brunet elf.
“Ai Mithrandil.” (I couldn’t find a way to spell it) “India!” Gandalf says with a smile. As this greeting takes place you look at your uneasy dwarf friends. they are whispering amongst themselves and sizing up the Elvish guards as well as the one speaking to Gandalf now. As you look between the two you feel someone slide next to you. You look down to see a big brown hat and a bown leather jacket.
“Hello Bofur.” You say with a smile. “How’d you reckon this place be hm?” He whispers to you and you sigh.
“I wouldn’t know. I haven’t been here before.” You say.
Bofurs eyes seem to widen and his pale face begins to turn red with a blush. He looks down and away. Before you get to question there is a sudden shout from Thorin. “Close ranks!” He shouts.
You suddenly find yourself as well as Bilbo being shoved to the middle of the company. You feel a protective arm at your hip and look down to see Bofurs hand resting upon it. You know it is out of protection so you don’t think of it as malicious intent. Though you are a thousand percent without any doubt that Bofur and anyone in this company is capable of doing such thing.
Horses begin a two layer circle around all of you. You see one Elf in particular wearing Red armor which is different then the rest.
“Gandalf!” He exclaims.
You can only assume that this is Lord Elrond. They speak in Elvish tongue for a time. You understand it but feign ignorance as to not worry the company.
“Strange for Orcs to come so close to our borders...” Elrond looks to Gandalf and then to the company.
“Something or someone has drawn them near.” Gandalf responds almost immediately.
“Ah, That may have been us.” Gandalf says.
Lord Elrond turns toward the company as Thorin steps forward.
“Welcome Thorin, Son of Thrain.” He says with a slight smile.
“I do not believe we have met.” Thorin says skeptically.
“You have your grandfather bearing. I knew Thoror when he ruled under the mountain.” Elrond  laments.
“He made no mention of you.” Thorin bites
Elrond pauses before speaking. You stifle a giggle as Elrond makes his kind words sound like an insult. Gloin seems to take the bait as he raises a voice in saying. “Does he offer us an insult!”
Gandalf sighs as he says. “No Gloin he is offering you food.”
Minus you and Bilbo the rest lean into each other and begin to whisper. Gloin turns and nods toward the Elf which leads Lord Elrond to go up the stairs with the company and you in tow.
It has been a while since everyone has been allowed to bathe and eat so they do just that. You decided to take your time with a bath so you are out later then everyone else. You decided to wear a gown that Lord Elrond so graciously gave you - Though you know you will be leaving soon enough - As you step out everyone stills and looks in your direction.
“I almost forgot you were a woman under all those mens clothes you wear!” Fili says with a laugh.
Your face flushes with embarrassment but you hear a hard thud and look over to see Fili holding his head with Bofur behind him. You decide to ignore and sit at one of the farther tables. Though you mainly eat meat you didn’t mind the greens on your plate. You knew of the Elves choice in food. You feel someone sit next to you.
“Don’t listen to the lass they don’ know what their talkin’ about.” You hear Bofur say.
“Thank you my friend... I know it is all in good fun, but it is nice to look and feel beautiful sometimes...” You say.
Bofur seems to deflate slightly at your statement. “Yer beautiful all the time Y/N.” He says with a smile.
This causes you to blush this time out of bashfulness. “Thank you Bofur.” You say with a smile.
You suddenly feel him cup your cheek. His thumb runs over a small cut on your cheek.
“How ya feelin’? Took a nasty fall... Nearly lost ya...” He says sadly.
“I’m fine... I had a handsome dwarf come to my rescue.” You say as you begin to remember the events of today.
“This way!” Gandalf exclaims as you rush between boulders.
Radagast the Brown has offered himself as a distraction, but unfortunately it only lasted so long. The sounds of death from a pack mate has caused the rest of the Orc hunting party to follow. Now you are running toward a big boulder. As you were running however you trip on a rock causing you to fall and skid your palms along the rocky ground. You feel the rush of blood enter the wounds before exiting. You feel small drips of blood trail down your cheek. You reach and touch it to see that there is indeed blood.
You go to stand up only for feel a kick to your side. You yelp in pain as you are suddenly tossed on to your back. You look up to see the hideous Orc scum. He is holding a spear. You pulls his arm back to strike.
“NO!”
You hear someone cry and a war hammer is meshed to the Orcs face. You see the back of Bofurs brown jacket. There was a cry of pain from the Orc as it is knocked to the ground. There is one final grunt from Bofur as he smashes the Orcs head it. Bofur immediately turns to you and reaches a hand out to you. You grab it and he hoists you up and you both run for the hole in the ground.
Without uncupping your cheek he reaches for one of your hands and rubs his thumb along the bandages. You can see that he is beginning to get into his own head. You go to speak but he cuts you off.
“Can I braid your hair?” He asks with hope in his raised voice.
“W-what? Are you sure? You kn-” “I know what it means  amrâl (Love).” He says.
“In any tradition hair is very important. I want to use this as a sign of faith, fate, and... something more if you wish.” He says in a hushed tone.
“Bofur...” You place a hand over his which is on your cheek.
“I would love it... Would this be a courting braid?” You ask as your face seems to be getting more red by the second.
“I-If ya will have me it is.” Bofur says who has an equally red face.
You smile with a nod and turn around with your back facing him. You here him shuffling and muttering to himself.
“Where is that bloody bru-” He is cut off with a thud.
You hear him grunt as you here slight chuckles from behind you. What you didn’t see was that Kili threw a brush into Bofurs head as the rest of the Company chuckles.
You feel him start at the bottom of your hair with the brush. He is muttering to himself some more. “I... I will say I am not very good at braidin’ hair...” He says.”
“I will love it either way...” You say with a smile.
Then there is silence. The light tugs on your hair as he takes the three stands and overlaps them.
“What are you thinking Bofur? I can hear it.” You say lightly.
Bofur chokes slightly. “I... I was thinking that... Maybe when we reclaim Erebor. I will make a bead for ya. To ya know. Go in yer hair?”
“You wouldn’t have to Bo...”
“How else would I be able to braid yer hair when we wed?”
“W-What!” You exclaim.
“Yes. By the time we reclaim Erebor I plan on marrying ya. This braid will be a promise to that.” You stay silent for a moment until he is done.
You turn to him and cup his cheek. “Well know now that when this is all over, my answer will be yes.” You say breathlessly before placing a kiss on his cheek.
You were surprised blood wasn’t leaking out of his pores with how red his face was.
“W-Well get some sleep Lass. We leave early.” He says with a whisper before scurrying away.
You giggle and wave to him. You find yourself unable to sleep that night which may curse you in the morning, but you know in the end it would be worth it.

The troll cave smelled like a giant pile of shit and dead bodies. Eyja carefully makes her way downwards into the cave until Gandalf stops in front of her, turning and holding an unlit torch out to her. "Eyja, can you light this please?" She sighs and takes the torch from his hand. Bringing the foul smelling thing up to her face, she brings in a deep breath before letting out a mighty puff, flames passing over her lips and catching on the torches material. "Thank you." Gandalf turns back around, the now lit torch illuminating the gold and other treasure lining the walls.
Kili steps up beside Eyja, watching as she sifts through the weapons tossed haphazardly about. "How were you able to light that torch?"
She continues running her hands over blades and bows as she answers, "I am a skin changer, while the outside is me shifts from one form to another, the inside, remains the same, though it does shrink and grow to match my body." Kili hums a sound of acknowledgment and points to a long wooden bow she hadn't gotten to yet,
"This is a great bow if you're looking for such a weapon, the curve is strong, and the string appears to be taught." The shifter turns to the weapon, lifting it from the ground, dusting it off with the corner of her cloak, revealing a dark wood and leather grip.
Eyja nods, "You are right, this is a fine bow, do you see a quiver anywhere?" Kili's smile widens at her praise, the matching quiver of arrows already in his outstretched hand. "Thank you Kili, are you in need of any weapons?"
he thinks to himself for a moment, "No I think I have all that I need." Eyja nods and starts off back towards the entrance of the cave, passing Gandalf handing Bilbo a small sword. As they reach the top, and Eyja begins reorganizing her small stash of blades and new bow the rest of the company begins to file out, many of them inhaling deep breaths of the fresh air. Eyja turns her back to the dwarven prince and looks back over her shoulder at him.
"Could you undo the sheath on my back, I can't seem to reach it?"
"Ya I can do that." Kili's hands brush lightly over her hair on the way to the strap holding her sheath to her body, and Eyja stills at the contact. As his hands fiddle with the clasp, she reaches back and pulls her hair to the side so to get it out of the way. As the clasp finally lets go and Kili lifts her sword from her back.
Eyja turns smile wide on her face ready to thank him when through the trees barrels huge rabbits towing a sled holding a small man cloaked in brown, lopsided hat pulled low over his ears. the dwarves quickly pull tightly into a group blades at the ready, but Gandalf steps forward laughter in his voice.
"Radagast the brown, what on earth are you doing here?" Kili shoots a questioning look to Eyja as if to confirm this is the wizard she had spoken of the day prior. The shifter meets his gaze for a fleeting moment, nodding, her brows furrowed in confusion. She had never seen the wizard in such a state of panic as he explained to the grey wizard how the greenwood is sick. As they wander away from the group Eyja turns back to the dwarf at her side.
"So that's Radagast," Kili's tone is light as he watches Eyja secure her sword to her waist.
"Yes, though I've never seen him look quite so worried before, normally he is quite calm, something must be terribly wrong to have him so upset." As she slings her new quiver over her shoulder and across her body, a menacing howl pierces the air, chilling the blood in her veins.
"Was that a wolf?" Bilbo's question is spoken swiftly his voice laden with fear, for the hobbit had never heard such a noise before.
Bofur's response is shaky and uncertain, "That is no wolf."
Movement behind the two catches Eyja's gaze, "Wargs!" her shout rings through the air and every dwarf turn weapons out as the beast hurtles down the hill towards them, it tackles Dwalin to the ground, only for Thorin to bring his new elvish blade down with bone crushing force. As another warg comes barreling at them, Kili readies an arrow and lets it fly, the arrow sinking deep in the creatures leg, causing it to tumble the rest of the way down the mossy hill, Eyja brings her blade across its throat with a quick twirl, the dark blood splattering across her cloak and face. She bares her teeth at the foul animal as it let out one last whining howl.
Thorin wrenches his blade from the neck of the first warg, "Warg scouts, which means an orc pack is not far behind."
"we have to get out of here." Dwalin's voice is tense and he looks to Thorin.
Ori rushes to the group, "We can't, the ponies have run off."
Radagast volunteers to draw them off and Gandalf turns to face his companion, "These are gundabarg wargs, they will outrun you."
A wild glint enters the brown wizards eyes, "These are ruskavelle rabbits, I would like to see them try." He climbs back onto his sled, commanding the rabbits forward, and he takes off like an arrow shot from a bow, here one moment, gone the next.
The howls and wails of the warg pack draw closer only for them to be drowned out for a moment by the sound of Radagast yelling obscenities at the orcs as he rushes past. As the orc pack take off after the wizard, Gandalf ushers the company to move, he runs in front of them leading them into the open fields. Eyja brings up the back of group, making sure that none of the dwarves get left behind, ushering them forward when they start to slow.
The group runs down the hill and moves to pass a large boulder when Radagast flies past, manic giggles escaping him, and the large pack of orcs soon follows. Many times in their mad dash across the plains are they cut off by the parade of orcs chasing the gleeful wizard. The group slams their backs against the boulder as Radagast darts in front of them once again and one of the orcs moves his steed atop the rock which they try to hide under. Thorin turns to meet his nephews eyes and nods at him. slowly Kili draws an arrow, and knocks it on his bow, taking a breath, he steps away from the rock revealing himself to the orc atop it. Letting the arrow loose, it flies into the chest of the warg, and as the orc brings his horn to his mouth intending to call for the others, Kili looses another arrow into the chest of the orc. The wail of the dying orc and warg ricochet off the rocks echoing at deafening volumes. Eyja sinks her blade into the orc's skull silencing it as Dwalin dispatches the warg, but not before it lets out another agonizing howl.
"Move, run!" Gandalf's yell is heavy with panic, "This way quickly!" he leads the company towards a rock surrounding by a small stand of trees, Thorin's shouts for Kili to shoot the beasts has Eyja readying her own bow, letting arrows fly in every direction, as more and more wargs pour over the hills.
Dwalin yells that Gandalf had abandoned them, but as Eyja turns quickly to seek out the wizard, her mind connects the dots as to where they are. She resumes shooting at the orcs as they advance, Kili by her side mirroring each other.
"This way you fools!" Gandalf's cry from the rocks reaches Eyja's ears at about the same time as an unseen warg pushes her to the ground, teeth bared and saliva dripping. She wrenches her dagger from its place on her thigh, driving it home in the underside of the beasts jaw and dragging it downwards, towards its neck. Kili turns to find Eyja covered in blood, pushing the now deceased warg off her.
Thorin's shouts for Kili and the shifter to run, has them turn from the orcs, they begin to sprint, Eyja dragging Kili along by the wrist as she out paces him. As she dives into the crevice, pulling the brunette dwarrow with her, Thorin jumps down sliding after them. As her feet hit the bottom of the hole she steadies herself on the cool rock wall. Kili stands beside her, out of breath, and unsteady himself. A horn sounds from outside the cave and the sound of hooves pounding the earth sounds in the air. As the sounds of orcs yelling and wargs dying grows louder Eyja and Thorin begin pushing the company away from the entrance, trying to remain concealed from the newcomers. An orc comes rolling down into the cave, arrow protruding from it head,
"Elves." Thorin's voice holds distaste as he tosses the retrieved arrow aside. Bofur calls that they should follow the path and starts walking, the group filing down the twisting hall. Kili and Eyja fall to the back of the group, and she rests a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you alright Kili?" Her eyes dart over his face, "Do you need to rest?" His breaths are still coming in momentous heaves, but he shakes his head, face turning red at her show of concern.
"Ya," his eyes meet hers and he pauses for a moment at the concern swimming in them, "I'm alright, what about you?"
"I'm perfectly fine." Her voice is soft, and her eyes dance over Kili's face, and they catch on the leaf stuck in his bangs, "Hold still." She reaches out gently pulling the debris from his hair, the strands are soft against her fingers and she drops the leaf on the ground between them. "There was a leaf in your hair."
Kili's face is now a bright red, and he avoids her gaze, "Thank you." The sounds of the company are getting farther away and Kili turns to face the hall, "We should probably catch up to the rest of the group." Eyja nods, and they walk down the path, side by side hands occasionally brushing.
Tumblr media
As the pair round the last corner, they come across the company, standing in awe as they lay their eyes on Rivendale, home of the elves. Kili jaw drops open at the waterfalls and architecture. the company makes their way down the hills, and across the bridge approaching the elf standing at the base of the steps. Eyja, bounds forward, bringing the dark haired elf into a hug, which is quickly returned by the ellon. "Lindir, it's lovely to see you, it has been far to long old friend." While Eyja releases the elf from her grasp, Gandalf approaches, and begins speaking with the tall man over the whereabouts of Lord Elrond. Kili stands beside his brother brows furrowed at the elf Gandalf and Eyja are conversing with.
"Brother if you continue to glare at him, he might spontaneously combust." Fili's teasing only serves to make his brothers scowl deepen.
"It's nothing." Kili walks away from his brother, stopping only when he's standing at Eyja's side chin held high as he watches the exchange between the three taller beings. A horn sounding across the valley turns the heads of all those present to the incoming procession of horses. The dwarves quickly bunch up, Kili pushing Eyja to the center of their circle alongside bilbo who had been put there by Thorin. The shifter just laughed and waved at the elven lord as he stepped off his horse.
"Eyja, what a wonderful surprise, it is lovely to see you again," Elrond steps forward and Eyja steps out of the circle of defensive dwarrow, "What brings you here this time dear shifter?"
She bows slightly before responding, "I'm afraid you're going to have to ask Gandalf for the details, for he is leading us." She smiles at the elf before rejoining her dwarven companions, standing next to the very prickly looking Kili. "Are you alright Kili, you look ready to remove somebodies head?" The brunette prince looks to her, the yellow of her eyes reflecting the sun in such a way they appeared to glow.
He nods curtly, "Yes I'm quite alright, how do you know the elves?"
Eyja smiles gently as she looks up to see Elrond and Thorin discussing something, "I met Lord Elrond many years ago, I was passing nearby and was attacked by a band of goblins, Lindir and Lord Elrond were a part of the hunting party that helped me that day." Her smile widens remembering the day, and how she had thrown Lindir to the ground at first mistaking him for an enemy. Kili nods, and tenses once more as Elrond begins to speak in the elven tongue to his uncle.
Gloin brandishes his weapon, "Does he offer us insult?" Eyja laughs quietly.
"No Master Gloin, he offers you food." Her lilting voice is joyous as she explains Elrond's words to the company, causing them to go quiet before Gloin says to lead the way.
Tumblr media
The group is led to an open area, where they are told to leave their bags and supplies. Eyja shrugs off her cloak folding it carefully before placing it on the floor, laying her weapons down beside it. Kili watches the skin changer closely, and mimics her actions. Eyja walks over to kneel beside the prince, who is placing his things on the ground in a not so neat pile, "I am going to go and wash all this blood off, follow Lindir, he will show you to a table and provide you with food, I will join you all in a moment." The dwarrow turns his head, pleading silently for her not to leave him alone in the unfamiliar place, but the shifter nods once, before rising and walking swiftly and surely down the hall. Kili moves to stand by his brother, whispering quietly to him the same thing Eyja told him.
Once the rest of the company has finished organizing their bags, Lindir turns to face the group, "Follow me," His voice is smooth and he spares no eye contact for any of them, instead turning on his heel and starting down a new hall. The thirteen dwarves and singular hobbit are quick to follow, not wanting to get lost in the unknown city. The raven haired ellon leads them down the white hallway, before opening a large wooden door to a ginormous room. the room is lit by the setting sun, and filled with a long table with many dwarf sized seats and one regular sized chair. on a raised platform at the end of the room, sectioned off by towering floor to ceiling pillars is a separate table, where the elf lord already sits with the grey wizard.
"Ah welcome, Master Thorin, please join me at my table and do bring your Hobbit, the rest of you my take a seat, the food will be out shortly." Everyone moves at once, the promise of food has them scrambling to find a seat. Kili seats himself beside the larger chair, hoping that when you return, you will sit with them instead of the other table.
As promised, elves are soon bustling around them bringing platters and bowls of food to the long table. But as the dwarves sift through the many dishes, they find no meat. As the company grumbles and complains over the lack of protein, the doors open once more. Eyja steps into the room, skin no longer covered in blood, and dressed in a pair of loose brown pants, that are sinched at the waist and tucked into her boots, her shirt is flowing and white, cuffed at the wrists and tucked in at the waist.
She rounds the long table heading to the empty chair next to the raven haired dwarven prince, but pauses as Lindir grabs her arm. Kili doesn't hear what the elf says to her but at the way her fists clench and her brow furrows, he suspects it can't be anything good. Eyja nods grimly at her friend before stepping past him to rejoin her dwarf companions.
As she pulls the chair out and sits down Kili turns his head, watching her through the curtain of his hair. She quickly dishes some of the leafy meal onto her plate, eyes unfocused. He lifts his head and turns to face the skin changer fully, "Are you alright?" His question seems to shock her out of her trance like state.
"Yes, I'm quite alright, there's just some new information that's been brought to my attention," Eyja shakes her head, "but no matter, it is of little consequence now." Kili raises a brow, but leaves the subject alone for the moment.
"If you say so, hey me and Fili have been thinking-"
"That's never a good thing." Eyja tone is teasing and she smiles at the dwarf.
"Choosing to ignore that, but anyways, we were wondering why Bilbo is called a burglar and not just a robbit." The timing of his words couldn't have been worse, as the shifter had just taken a large drink of water. Eyja bursts out laughing, spewing water over the unfortunate Dwalin seated across from her. As her laughter dies down to giggles and coughing she chokes out an apology as the burly tattooed dwarf scowls. Kili and Fili howl with laughter as they watch the shifter try and mop up the mess with the napkin on the table.
It was then that Bofur leapt onto the table, declaring the music to be unfit for the company and bursting out into song and dance, stomping over the food. The commotion draws the attention of those at the other table and Lord Elrond grumbles as the company sings along, Eyja smiling joyfully.

Stay Or Go
Tumblr media
Got a request for a FtM trans reader who ends up in Middle Earth with the Company who help them when they run out of their hormone meds. With mention of post top surgery scars. (Again I am so sorry it took me nearly two months to get this out of my head. My mental brainstorming slump has been rough to get out of.)
I went with Xo instead of Y/N while typing, as my phone kept editing to weird stuff while I was on lunch at work, and it kind of goes with the they/them pronouns I used alongside 3rd POV. Also Xo is human and called a ‘Big Person’ in the story but is just mortal and taller than the Dwarves, which Thorin is 5ft2 and considered tall for his people, so they don’t have to be over 6ft when you picture them. Hope you like it, and the trouble for Xo starts when their last bottle of testosterone hormone breaks on them, Fili and Kili of course are there at their service to help them calm down. :)

...
Glass bottle in hand Xo stood staring at the single dose of the medicine that was the only gateway to all they could have dreamed of since they were a small child and had put a name to an ingrained feeling. Nothing could shake the fact that they knew they were born in the wrong body, but the universe damn sure tried to rock it loose every chance it got. Just like today.
The law is such a fickle thing and as a duo of Congressmen under the banner of a clear seeing eyeball was righting the morals of the world now banning any gender reassignment meds and surgeries, amongst other things to dehumanize any minority possible, within the borders of these lands.
This was Xo’s last dose and with skin itching at the urge to shout and scream and go down in a riotous rage at the news they had to keep it safely nestled within their grip. Noise of bodies on the walkway behind them inside the hall of the medical office where they had come to see if they could beg their counselor in charge of this transition for more as they had to each time before to prove each time they had not and would not change their mind. The usually stone faced doctor now was found grinning ear to ear with legal reinforcements to their refusal to treat this particular so called mental delusion within this already morally uptight area of the county.
They had to move and get home and think of what to do. Already shoving back the gnawing echoes of comments from family and those they worked with who had been sure to comment and share similar arguments to what the grinning doctor had tried to coax them into realizing all this time, they were wrong. Something was wrong however, like through an unseen fae ring with the bump of a sturdy fur coat adorned shoulder into their elbow down the bottle plummeted to shatter atop a cobbled pathway that had Xo grunt in fruitless anger and mounting emotional pain.
“Ki!” Fili exclaimed to his younger brother who he had just been arguing with over the best time to depart in the morning as they had arrived to Bree early.
“I am so sorry!” Kili exclaimed, the brothers now facing the taller stranger with almost pleading eyes to show the internal tug of their youth to pout and beg for forgiveness even as they had just barely crossed into their adulthood years. “Whatever that was we will replace it!”
Fili nodded, “Double, the supply, if possible from the Glass Smith.” He took a glance down at the metal capped useless tiny bottle. “I cannot imagine what spice it was intended to hold but at the size the Smith must carry a vast quantity yet!”
“It,” Xo spoke unsteadily, “It can’t be replaced. The bottle is useless without my medicine.”
Kili said, “The Healer is still at their stall, we just passed them by. Come, we will explain the fault is ours!”
Fili nodded with his brother and said to start their joint greeting, “Fili and Kili, sons of Vili.” And Fili continued alone, “We are of the Longbeard clan our kin have good reputation with the Big People of Bree they will entrust it is the truth.”
“Bree,” Xo whispered internally as their mental dread now plummeted to a level of panic to have them in the cusp of passing out as they now knew they were not even in their own world anymore. “They won’t have my testosterone.”
Kili narrowed his eyes at the odd name, “Perhaps they have a medicine of another name but just as useful, what is it meant for?”
Dry mouthed Xo drew in a breath as they tried to not allow their knees to buckle as the edges of their vision began to blur. Now surely bent on ticking down to the inevitable collapse. “For, for my transition into a man.”
“Hobbit Root!” They both exclaimed together and smiled up at the stranger.
Kili said, “How fortunate that we are expected in The Shire tomorrow where the most potent of it grows! You can travel with us and we will replace your supply.” His brows furrowed again, “Only, the last I recall it is the size of a turnip and that bottle was far too small to contain a bulb.”
He looked at his brother who nodded, “We have a cousin who shared there was two doses required for their change, you appear to be between doses as well, quite painful to be extended over doses by what we hear. Curious we have yet to hear of Big People who make use of Hobbit Root, although we have had little exposure to Big People beyond those who travel to the Blue Mountains bound to be a fair supply nearer to where Hobbits barter.”
Kili asked, “How did the bottle be useful for the bulb, if you don’t mind my curiosity?”
Xo at the new option now felt a chill through their body that now seemed to stall on the unconscious time clock at this odd news of a strange root named bulb these two oddballs spoke of. “Testosterone isn’t a bulb, it is a liquid dose you inject weekly.”
“Weekly?!” They both asked and looked at one another then back up at Xo with a protective glint in their eyes.
Fili said, “Whatever snake oil salesman who pitched that liquid surely was bent on extending the profit of their goods!” He scoffed, “Boiling Hobbit Root and selling weekly doses to extend pain upon his victimized customers. You see that bastard you point him out to us!”
“Or better yet our cousin Ori will meet us tomorrow and will sketch their face for you. We will send copies to all Hobbitons and Dwarf lands, they cross their borders and will be strung up and flogged. Come, we will secure our rooms for the night pay your supper and for the new supply in the morning, double, triple dose or otherwise until you are satisfied of a full change.”
.
Prancing Pony, not exactly like it was in the films as best Xo recalled. Sat inside a giant barrel of a private tub surrounded by more tubs they stared at the water just soaking in the heat withholding their urge to cry while staring down at their own unflatteringly angled reflection between clouds of bubbles wading across the surface of the hot water.
Inside the tub next to them was the brothers, who with their smaller bodies could share one of the large barrel tubs, the both who had stolen glances as the female attendants here who entered occasionally to offer mead or towels and soap of the scars across their pectorals. Another bit of hard won progress they had to leave the country to achieve as the grinning doctor had again and again put off the approval for said top surgery and had been fuming at the shortcut taken only to retaliate with stricter verbal battles for each dose of hormones.
If this root didn’t work they had no idea what they would look like or what they would be trapped as inside this new and unfamiliar place. They certainly weren’t safe as they wished to be in their old world and now this one even more so.
All the same they dunked under the surface of the water to ruffle out their hair realizing the forgotten shampoo they used and let sit while lost to thoughts when a stinging line of it rolled down to get into their eye. Straight up when they had gotten enough of the water out of their hair they stood, fisting a towel they held over their groin in the climb out of the tub. Wrapping the cover around their hips in the process to get on the warm wooden planks to bridge the path out of the bathhouse to the changing room.
Laid across the spare bed inside the room with two in it where a tale of a harrowing battle was expected of the scars similar to a relative whose way to have earned the battle scars the brothers listened to the unbelievable tale of the process for this change in the unknown world Xo spoke of.
.
“We gave our word, Uncle.” Fili and Kili spoke lowly to him as the curious Hobbit eyed the tall stranger who crouched in his front hall with hold of a telling set of roots.
Bad mannered Dwarves be damned he was a Baggins and with hand extended he grinned and said, “Come in young Xo, I will prepare your roots and offer my most accommodating bed so that you might take some ease whilst your body breaks and boils out of its cocoon.”
“When, it what?” Xo squeaked out as they were being led to the kitchenette off the side of a soothing bedroom used for births and many maladies of any variety a Hobbit might have to face to not suffer while inside their prized bedroom out of an old superstition that would have this room cleansed in various ways beyond the obvious afterwards.
.
Two days, as if sent through fire and then water and propelled through about any physical barrier constructed by man or imagination could construct their body truly broke and boiled internally to this metamorphosis.
Just glimpses was what they recalled, of blurry faces and voices of comforting tales to strength sustaining snacks of broths and soft squishy pellets of a mixture of potatoes and type of bread shared of tales from both Hobbit and Dwarf kind.
Each member of the Company took their turn on watch to sit with the Big Person enduring this physical battle. Singing songs and warmly comforting the small bouts of worries shared of the possibility of what comes after like a parent would to a small child who awoke from some night terror. Tenderly handling the messiest or unpleasant tasks with as much respect and trust that they would hope to receive from a Healer of any culture sworn to abide the weary and worn.
Only for Xo to awake and groggily make their way to the bath to stand aside and let the Hobbit fill the water for a cleansing herb bath and catch sight of their reflection.
Fingers raised they just had to touch it, almost afraid it was a window and some stranger was staring back at them. Bits and pieces of older relatives could be spotted in some form of resemblance. Not identical to any one but easy enough to be seen amongst the clan as clearly one of them off various parts.
The scars were still there, all those they received and aspired for in their prior form and still they didn’t know what to think. There wasn’t exactly a face or exact build they had aspired to, but they guessed the gradual process to get where they were meant to would have helped to not have this moment of shock and need to swear to themself they would get used to this new version of themself.
“Bath is ready, Xo, just soak and we will finish the stew. No worries on that silly journey of theirs yet. You just keep your spirits up and take the evening to acclimate to your upright self again.”
“Thank you,” Xo stammered out and was given a kind smile by the Hobbit in the close of the door.
“No need,” the voice faded behind the wooden barrier amongst voice of the Dwarves who were sharing they had bartered for more supplies for their trip now hoarding up the front hall that was only welcomed by the Hobbit so he could keep his meddling cousins in the Sackville line away by lie of their being too many bodies inside his Smial already.
.
“We have bartered for a full set of supplies for yourself and we have a second horse just about your size, perhaps a bit bigger, however your legs clearly will be able to reach none the less with the saddle paired to it, adjustable stirrups and all. Spare layers and a traveling cloak, bedroll and ample pocketed pack.” The thirteen Dwarves smiled up at them proudly.
“I, have no money.” Xo stammered out. Unable to stay here as Bilbo was leaving and no idea what was ahead to face if they did agree to tag along.
Balin waved a hand, “All that is needed is your signature on the contract. The repayment will be taken from your portion of the treasure hoard.”
“I, alright. I need a pen.” Feather quill inside a bottle of ink lifted between them and Xo nodded taking hold of it and the contract Gloin was holding for them on Balin’s right. “Right,” one signature and in the line of bodies to exit the round green door they took their place to walk off into the great unknown of their days ahead to face their new life in this new world.
.
Sleeping on the ground and days atop a horse certainly didn’t help the chance to feel comfortable in this new form, but each bath time that once imagined illusion of a reflection now changed subtly in shape still by the week. Both muscle and tone adjusted underneath weeks of dirt and wear of the body building energy draining travel.
A process oddly satisfying as they now knew at least some figment of a limit to what their new shape could take and gradually claimed the new inches and angles of it while use of a spared dagger at the side of one of the elder Dwarves brought about the new skill of keeping control of their facial hair in all of its intricacies and wishes to lay or where it chose to grow or not.
.
The Elf King, far beyond the escaped lands of Rivendell now issued a charge to arms and call for aid from Saruman and Radagast while Elf Forces of Lothlorien and Rivendell were readied to March to battle. Wider details of their former home had been shared and red blurred the vision of the scar hiding King who knew just what foul duo was hiding behind that duo boasting a giant eye on their banners.
Battle was called and with aid of the White and Brown Wizards it raged through the old world from where Xo had been taken.
The face in those wanted posters Xo supplied the details for now matched the head upon a spike as people from their former life crowded the oddly silent streets in the aftermath of the bloody battle. Huddled together and whispering when bold enough of these strangers who saved them from this unseen enemy while more powerful voices ushered up a call for change and kindness within legal circles.
Family, coworkers, no one knew who Xo could be, as they looked now. Just what they always hoped, to be here and as a man amongst them accepted and not shown shame and scorn
“Xo?!” Thorin’s voice turned their head to look back at the Company who stood amongst the Elven forces readying to return. “Will you return with us? We understand-,” his sentence broke off as Xo could clearly see the anguish and hope muddled in the eyes of the Company and Elves who knew them, whether it be for short off a brief time, the weight of those bonds and those tied to the people who saw them as a stranger tugged at them mercilessly.
Where would they go? Where would they stay?
Thorin couldn’t finish his sentence, if they chose to stay. If they chose to go they lost the chance to do as they hoped, one day to just return fresh faced and free to live amongst them without shame or pain of the failure to gain their love and acceptance as they truly were.
“Do I stay?” Xo whispered to themselves in a second glance between their options.

(Kili x Reader)
Tumblr media
(A/N); Hello and welcome, readers!! As always, thank you for stopping by!! I thought it was high time to write a fic for Kili! After all, who can resist that cheeky smile of his?? Do enjoy! ❤
Plot; Comfort drabble
Pairings; Kili x Reader (Romantic)
Warnings; fluffity-fluff and some angy-angst
_____________________________________
The evening was cheerful, the Company of Thorin Oakenshield having stopped for the night after a long day's travels. Peaceful ambience of the forest began to increase in the nightfall, the breeze light and cool as it swayed through the rustling trees.
Firelight filled the camp with a warm flickering glow, the smell of woodsmoke and Bombur's cooking potent in the air. Conversation was easy to find and delightful, as always. Bofur, Dwalin, Nori and a few of the others were sat together, conversing in what sounded like their native tongue. The intricacies and mysteries of Khuzdul still left you amazed, despite how it was only merriful banter.
You had stood by Bombur, offering to take Bofur's place tonight as the food-server. Each bowl of soup was steaming hot, your steps having to be quick to avoid burning yourself too badly from the scalding liquid as it dripped from the bowl. Each Dwarf had eagerly taken the food that was offered, exhaustion fueling their hunger. Even Bilbo and Gandalf seemed relieved to finally be eating this evening. The days were long and draining, trudging through the wilderness in the everchanging landscape. You too found relief in finally dropping down beside the youngest of the two Princes once your rounds were finished.
Fili, who usually kept him company of a nighttime, was occupied in the audacious conversations nearby. The booming laughter that rang out almost startled you whilst you settled in alongside Kili, him offering the occasional soft chuckle at the words being thrown between bites of his food.
Darting to you, the Prince's hazel eyes glistened with the embers of the campfire. A soft smile of amusement crossed his face, the action always seeming to offer you comfort. "What are they on about now?", you quirked a brow, his expression becoming contagious.
"By this point in the conversation, I don't think you want to know".
"Enlighten me", you encouraged, laughter slipping from the Princeling's lips. It was hard for Kili to restrain his smile when he finally obliged.
"They're taking bets on whether or not Bofur uses his hat in the bedroom".
"Pigs", you huffed, a moment's silence passing before you added, "He clearly does". The Prince snorted, his soup suddenly travelling through his nostrils. Something akin to a guffaw escaped his lips, whilst he desperately tried to grapple his composure in your now shared laughter.
"Agreed", he managed to wheeze out, wiping at his face and mouth.
In moments like this, you appreciated the bond that had formed between you both. Despite the seriousness of the quest at hand, you always found yourself at ease within Kili's easygoing nature and cheeky humour. He always had a way of soothing your anxieties with his jokes and lighthearted conversations, always looking on the brighter side of things. And although he was oblivious to such things, you'd come to find him to be quite beautiful.
It was hard not to when the light of the fire danced over his features, illuminating the strands of hair that fell effortlessly over his face. You'd come to admire those wavy tresses with their now auburn glow, sitting over his strong and broad shoulders. You wondered how he cared for them, keeping them so clean despite the lack of hygiene this quest entailed.
With his head turned and gaze fixed on the forest ahead, you found that his messed half-up had lost a few strands that dangled, masking the Prince's handsome face from your current view. His metal clasp was now sitting loosely on the back of his head. And although it offered him a fitting style, you wished to fix it for him.
Dinner became suddenly forgotten in your new endeavours when you decided to test the waters with Kili. Reaching for the strand that had fallen loose over his face, your fingertips worked the silken strands behind his ear with a delicate precision. The Prince almost seemed to stiffen at your touch, his breaths halting whilst goosebumps ignited across his skin. His lips had parted, lashes fluttering. No woman had ever touched him like that before. And although there was nothing sensual about your touch, it made every part of him light up like fire, craving more of that soothing gentleness.
Sensing his quiet, you became hesitant to continue. "May I fix your hair for you?". Your question had his hazel orbs clouding in confusion, scanning your face for any sign that you may have been jesting. He nodded shyly, his voice seeming to waver slightly,
"Please". That being all the confirmation you needed, you pulled the large clasp from his hair, the thick layers falling loose. Excitement bubbled in your chest whilst you shuffled closer to the handsome Dwarf.
Steadying his breaths, he resisted the shudder that passed through him when your fingers began working through his hair like a gentle comb. You began to remove the small tangles, relishing in the soft touch of his hair. The moisture in the strands was not greasy or dirty in nature and his waves bounced back, unaffected by your touches. The Prince's eyes had fallen closed, his dinner being long abandoned in his blissful state. The sensation of your nails brushing over his scalp had him drawing his bottom lip between his teeth to fight the pleasurable sighs that dared to leave his throat.
The boisterous conversations that once ensnared his attention had faded from his ears. He was barely able to register your voice when you spoke so gently to him. "Your hair is so beautiful", you marveled, spindling his soft hair between your fingers playfully. "How do you keep it so soft and lovely?". The young Prince felt his throat tightening from shock, pondering what your interest was in his hair. In his opinion, there was nothing special about his tresses.
Kili gathered no attention from women, unlike his fellow kin. His complete lack of facial and body hair meant that to any respectable Dwarf, he was considered ugly or unattractive. At your compliments, it was only normal for him to be in a state of disbelief. You were the first and only woman to take interest.
"It's nothing special", he finally murmured. "I just use a light oil after I wash my hair".
"You need to lend it to me sometime", you insisted with a grin, your eyes seeming to sparkle with mirth. "It works wonders on your hair. It's so beautiful". Kili felt his heartbeat increase, his tone falling quieter amidst his further disbelief.
"Do you think so?". In a sudden surge of confidence, you replied,
"I know so. You have the most gorgeous looking hair out of all the Dwarves in this Company". His eyes had blown wide, his lips parting in surprise. "It looks lovely pinned back", you added, finally binding his hair securely with his clasp. "Or left out". You shrugged. He grew confused when you shuffled in front of him. "But, I think I like your fringe the most. It frames your kind face without hiding it".
You were so close now, your (e/c) eyes trained on the delicate strands that made up his bangs. Your touch was featherlight and uncalloused, your face screwed in concentration. In your current focus, you didn't see the admiration and awe for you that shimmered in his gaze. Never had he gotten attention like this, even from a friend. Friend. He despised that word when his thoughts drifted to you. But, how could you possibly ever find him attractive?? His lack of facial hair and muscle was unmanly, even by human standards.
You were strangely beautiful to Kili. You weren't as tall or lithe as the Elves, nor as creamy-skinned or graceful. You had perfect little imperfections in your skin and freckles. Your hair had character, being curly. And you almost always wore your hair out of your face, the odd stray hair coming to frame it perfectly. And from the moment he sensed his feelings for you some weeks ago, Kili had felt his confidence decrease. He felt as if he had no chance with 12 other eligible Dwarves in the Company that could easily win you over with their toned bodies and lavish, braided hair.
The Princeling wasn't oblivious to how you often spent your time with Ori, looking through his books and learning how to knit the varying patterns he practiced. And despite how Ori was much younger than Kili, he had an attractive amount of body hair. He was nowhere near as confident as the Prince, nor as rehearsed in the prowess of battle. However, it didn't stop the envy that crept its way into his heart and mind. Looks had always mattered to everyone else before, so why would it be any different now?
When your cooler hands brushed over his face whilst you worked, it left burning tingles in his skin. You noted the perfect shaping of his eyebrows, running your thumbs over them to smooth any stray hairs. His features were strong, to be expected of a man in Dwarven culture. You swept loose pieces of his fringe from his cheeks, his stubble seductively rough beneath your skin.
Some part of you preferred Kili without a beard. All the hair that hung from the others was so extravagant, but you liked seeing more of his face. His cheeky smile was your favourite thing to see, even on a bad day. Perhaps a beard would hide that?
Raking his fringe up for slight volume, you found yourself taken by how ethereal he seemed. You questioned yourself on whether or not it was your lack of food and rest from the day, but you couldn't ignore the fondness that crept into your soul at being so close with him. A smile marked your face, setting the last strands of his dark locks aside.
"Beautiful", you'd murmured, a sense of accomplishment filling your heart. The warmth of his skin increased beneath your lingering fingertips, his hazel gaze playing over your softer features. To his greater surprise, there was only genuity in your expression. Not wanting you to retreat from him, Kili placed his heated callouses over your own, fighting the way his eyes slightly glazed over with tears.
"Thank you". He offered you one of those boyish smiles, taking comfort in the suppleness of your skin beneath his own. You caressed the stubble beneath your skin, grazing your thumb over the smoothness of his sharp cheekbone. Kili chuckled in amusement, "I look a bit more dignified now".
"Nonsense. Your hair looked fitting either way", you laughed softly, squeezing the warmer hands that held your own. "It's truly beautiful. Stubble and all". His dark brows had risen, wonder filling his kind gaze. You really didn't mind his lack of body hair??
"I always thought my stubble was– I thought it may have been unsightly", he confessed with the hints of a nervous smile, your brows creasing in light concern. "Beards are of high importance in my culture".
"Not in mine", you shrugged, slowly trailing your thumb over his dimples and slightly chapped lips. "Besides, how else would I be able to see that gorgeous smile?". The shy grin that slowly splayed onto his face at your words was the happiest one you'd ever seen on the Prince. Your words had dissolved any unsurities in his heart. "That's the one", you giggled, Kili trying and failing to restrain his smile.
"I think I like yours better", he murmured, sweeping one of your stray curls from your face. "It's the one I fell for, after all".
The small gap between you both closed, Kili's burning lips meeting yours in a gentle touch. It started off unsure and light, becoming almost fervent when your head tilted and lips parted to allow his tongue to slip past them. Using his hand resting along your jaw, he guided your head closer to his own, relishing in the need to be as close to you as possible. His stubble scratched the skin of your face pleasurably, a soft sigh exhaling through your nose.
The both of you separated, your lips swollen and tingling from the caresses and nibbles of his own. Kili's eyes finally fluttered open after a few moments, skimming your face with a soft tenderness. "Abnâmul", he whispered, running a heated digit over your tingling lips. "You'll have to let me do that more often".
"I'll have to think about it", you mused, squeezing the hand that cradled your face affectionately.
"Hopefully not too hard", Kili sighed in pretend dejection, tracing his thumb along your cheek. "I do really love you".
"I'm glad the feeling is mutual", you chuckled softly, pressing your lips to his with a playfulness. No longer burdened with his insecurities, Kili's laughter chased your own,
"Me too".
The End. . .

How Thorin’s Company Acts Around Their Crush
Hope all who celebrate had a wonderful Christmas! Since I’ve gotten some requests for The Hobbit characters as well I thought I would start with my usual beginning! Yes I’m repping ALL of them 😤😂 you can imagine the older members’ as taking place when they were younger or not…depends how you like it 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
Tumblr media
Balin
✧ As his feelings for you grow, so too does his care for you. As if by magic he always seems to know where you are and what you need. Being more subtle and witty with his feelings, Balin is not the easiest to decipher in terms of intention but you can be damn sure you know he cares.
✧ Shares stories with you, tales of his ancestors or days as a young dwarf roaming the mountain halls, chuckling warmly at your reactions.
✧ There to catch you whenever you fall, hands gently gripping your waist as he asks if you’re all right.
✧ Tells you how much the others like you, especially if those around you are a bit tough about it. Balin hears and sees a lot more in his position so he is quick to reassure you.
✧ “Let me get one last look at you before I go- that’s all the energy I need.”
✧ Balin loves to hear your voice, so his guilty pleasure is asking you to read to him whenever you get a moment’s peace- please indulge him, he’ll be so relaxed and content!
Dwalin
✧ Acts like he's just going along with your ideas or whims, but in reality you're wrapped around his finger and he'll do anything for you, not to mention go anywhere so he can ensure you're protected. The way he always makes jokes for you and shows off in your presence may make it easier to tell how he feels!
✧ Offers you a drink at any opportunity, bringing you a mug or glass of whatever you prefer most, even if it’s just water.
✧ Playfully spars with you if you’re game, complimenting your form and encouraging you to try more daring moves.
✧ Does anything in his power to make you comfortable and stand up for you. The log you’re sitting on is uncomfortable? He stands right up then and there to carve it down. If he sees an orc get a strike in on you you’ll know who’d getting beheaded next.
✧ Laughs at jokes he wouldn’t normally, like if the others tease him Dwalin will probably smack them or snark back, but if you say it he’ll just laugh and roll his eyes, maybe lightly elbow you.
✧ I’m pretty sure it’s both book and movie canon that this man dwarf plays the violin??? So you know he is going to whip it out to impress you! And maybe it’ll make for an excuse to dance and sing together too!
Thorin
✧ Thorin is the sort to orchestrate his entire romance to a T, so you will not be able to decipher his intentions until the exact moment he plans to tell you, and that will take some time getting to know and trust you.
✧ Always moves you behind him when danger strikes, readying himself in a moment to stand in and defend you. If you've been separated, you're the first person he seeks to check on.
✧ “Give me your hand.” Anytime the terrain is rough or you could fall, Thorin takes your hand in his to gently but firmly guide you over/across it.
✧ It’s hard sometimes to defer to others especially with all the pressure of being king, but Thorin is intentionally very considerate with you, asking for your input and following your counsel.
✧ Drapes his coat over your shoulders if he sees you looking cold, his hands lingering a bit longer than necessary…
✧ Rather than tell his story, Thorin prefers to ask yours- he wants to know where you came from and why you care about the things you do. If nothing else he craves a feeling of understanding passing between you two, a deeper relation and connection. He’s not afraid to ask deep questions like if what legacy would you most like to leave behind or the most important character trait in your eyes because his partner needs to share his values and be comfortable with deep discussions.
Oin
✧ His biggest tell is the way he dials up the gentleman act for you and only you, behaving so much more politely and attentively.
✧ Sometimes people don’t take the time to have conversations with him due to his hearing difficulties, so he makes sure to be extremely attentive and show his appreciation whenever you talk to him. Expressive listening and reactions are his specialty!
✧ Having skills as a healer, Oin does anything in his area of expertise to ease your travels, whether it’s pain relief, soothing oils for your muscles, steam treatments for your breathing, etc.
✧ He knows a lot of games, too, so if you’d like Oin would love to sit down and teach you some. If you ever look bored or down he will approach you with cards or dice in hand asking if you’d like to while away some time or thoughts.
✧ In turn, any hobby you have is something he’d be eager to learn about. You like to see? Show him how! You paint? Well, what do you make your paints out of? He wants to find a way to support your joys.
✧ Does silly things behind the others’ backs when only you can see, making fun of them or just shaking his head no if they give bad advice. Acts completely innocent even if they catch you laughing.
Gloin
✧ The ability to speak one's intent and feelings clearly, perhaps even with a bit of poetry, definitely runs in his family 😌 He will pay you the best compliments you've ever heard, leaving you to wonder what wheels are turning in his mind as he speaks them.
✧ Unafraid of telling you how nice your outfit looks on you whether it’s the color or the fit or, as is most likely, both! Tells you, in fact, that you’re more beautiful than any gem he’s ever seen.
✧ Teaches you how to play all his favorite tavern games! Subsequently always asks for you to be his partner at them.
✧ “Oh, you’ve got a little…” Extending a hand, he gently removes a small leaf from your hair, gently brushing it back into place.
✧ Won’t give the others the time of day if you’re talking to him. “Can’t you see I’m talking to them and not you?”
✧ Becomes your designated lifter of heavy objects and opener of difficult things, flexing as he tells you that pretty much everyone comes to him for it (even if it isn’t true) 😌
Bifur
✧ Absolutely becomes a showoff whenever he sees you, especially when he's sparring. You're like an energy of your own, bringing him new vigor and passion to overtake his enemy before he flashes you a smile. It's fairly obvious what he's doing, but you can't deny its effectiveness.
✧ Gets you familiar with his signs so he can spill the tea about the others when they aren’t looking 👀
✧ Elbows you lightly to get your attention, then waves at you or wiggles his eyebrows teasingly when you peer at him.
✧ Strings together some beads he has on hand along with some pretty rocks that he found to make you a little necklace or bracelet! Looks so proud as he holds it up for you too 🥺
✧ Gives it his all in every fight where you’re in harm’s way too because it’s not just about him making it out anymore.
✧ Sharpens your weapons for you without you even having to ask 😌
Bofur
✧ Bofur is incredibly sweet around the one who draws his attention, always smiling when you look his way and address him and always laughing at your jokes. His actions could be seen as just friendly but he's incredibly generous and giving around you which is a bit of a tell.
✧ Starts breaking touch barriers! Just with little things like resting a hand on your shoulder as he teases you or expresses sympathy, offering a helping hand to stand back up, or taking your hand or wrist to look at your jewelry.
✧ Yours is the first hand he reaches for when Bofur starts up a song and dance. He holds you so gently but twirls you so eagerly, a smile on his face for you the whole time!
✧ Hype man. Believes in you like it’s a given- of course you look amazing, go on, you can do it, don’t be scared, they’ll love it. In his words, “Don’t dull that great shine you’ve got.”
✧ Sharing little running jokes is his favorite. Whether you two were the only ones to catch another company member say something ridiculous or Bofur was the one you shared a certain story or fact with, he loves those little points of connection and will never let them die.
✧ Loves to take care of you, so when you’re seated together at meals he’ll load your plate and pour your drink for you- you won’t have to do a single thing but enjoy your time!
Bombur
✧ Such a quiet sweetheart! You may not be able to tell he likes you because he's so subtle with his little gifts and waves sent your way, but he's always asking about you and trying to show he cares.
✧ Lets you sneak tastes of whatever he’s making even though he’d usually smack their hand away 🥰 Also he always serves you first at the end of the day and gives you the best bit of whatever he's made! And if you're a lady, he always says “ladies first” with the sweetest smile ☺️
✧ The absolute best if you get anxiety, like he will learn exactly what is best to do for you whether it’s breathing, words, serving as a living weighted blanket for you, a phrase or sensory experience, you name it! He just wants to see you smile again 🥺
✧ Quietly leaves you flowers by your bedroll when you aren’t around, just little surprises to bring a smile to your face at day’s end.
✧ Bombur has the most hilarious theories about how he thinks he can predict the weather, so rather than have you ask Gandalf he’ll explain them all in depth until you’ve got stitches in your sides from laughing.
✧ If you break touch barriers, expect the most shocked, happy :o face from him followed by a smile that slowly grows more and more lovestruck.
Dori
✧ Another case of 'could be interpreted as friendly', Dori practically fawns over you to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need, but because he's a big brother it can come across like his natural sibling instinct.
✧ Anyone who bothers you gets the biggest scolding of their life- watch out!
✧ Making tea is his love/connection language. He'll offer to make you a cuppa if you're cold, stressed, need some energy, you name it and he'll do it for you!
✧ Practically shushes everyone to get your opinion when a ruckus emerges over some company decision or another, making some creative excuse why you have sway over it.
✧ Dori is definitely the sort to always check in and make sure you ate and got a drink too, always getting certain you’re keeping up your strength and care for yourself.
✧ Invites you to take walks with him when he wants fresh air and time away from his brothers, just the two of you enjoying nature and some one-on-one chatting and laughter.
Nori
✧ Shameless flirt! You'll know by the way his eyes travel up and down, by the way he smiles and approaches you, by his complete and utter lack of fear in complimenting and teasing you.
✧ Probably hits you with a pickup line as one of your first interactions, seeing you and immediately stepping in with the 'what's someone like you doing in a place like this'.
✧ Naturally he always volunteers to pair up with you on watches or lookout duty…just to make sure you’re safe, you know!
✧ Tells maybe, just possibly, exaggerated stories of his feats of heroism…or just gambling, whichever.
✧ One hundred percent the one who tries the old ‘yawn and put your arm around them’ trick one night by the fire or on watch.
✧ If his exploration leads him somewhere interesting you’re the first one he’ll be pulling over to check it out with him, pride written all over his face at your amazed reaction!
Ori
✧ He's so shy and polite around you that you can't help but wonder if his flustered state and smiles are connected to you. He also gets clumsier, suddenly walking into things and dropping them. What can be said, you just have an effect on him 😉
✧ Always points out animals he sees on your travels because he knows you like looking at them. Will sketch you pictures of your favorites so you can carry them with you!
✧ “Ooh, ooh! Sit with me!” *proceeds to not know what to say or do with himself once you get there*
✧ Knits for you, whether you request a scarf or gloves or a hat Ori will make it for you. “Here. This’ll keep you nice and warm,” he tells you as he passes it over, smiling sweetly as your hands brush.
✧ Tries to replicate anyone else’s feats. Fili threw a knife and hit a bullseye? Well watch this. Bifur balanced three bowls on his head? Care to see Ori do four? And if he doesn’t, please don’t laugh too much!
✧ Asks your favorite everything, like what flower you like the best, what meal you enjoy most, what’s your favorite color. Your favorite flower will forever make Ori think of you, and in fact it becomes his muse. He dedicated two whole pages to pressing and sketching them, one for him to keep and one for you!
Fili
✧ Epitome of 'if he teases you, he likes you'. Always shooting you jokes and smoothly grabbing your attention to show you things. Fili just gets a twinkle in his eye around you and his behavior clues you in.
✧ Teaches you the best way to throw knives, standing behind you to help you get the best angle 😏 asks if you’d like to give a name to the one you do the best with!
✧ Such a great listener. Goes full-on chin in hand just watching your animation intently, nodding and smiling as you speak.
✧ Struggle with something in Fili’s sight and you’ll never lift a finger at it again. He swoops right in to help you, always reassuring you it’s no big deal at all.
✧ Opens his arms immediately if you’re stressed or grieving, offering a warm, comforting embrace. He gives amazing hugs, too, a hand sliding soothingly up and down your back as he pulls you in.
✧ Trips and falls in front of you, but saves it by saying he lost his footing because you were so stunning 💁🏻‍♀️
Kili
✧ If he teases you he likes you part two. He also shamelessly flirts by winking at you and doing anything in his power to hear you laugh, so you'll be able to see what's up pretty quickly.
✧ He has a habit of taking things to see if you notice, just small things like if you leave your comb sitting out or lay down your weapon to go talk to someone, he'll snatch it up and hold onto it to see how long it takes! "Just keeping it warm for you ;)"
✧ Takes it upon himself to teach you archery or help you practice, making lots of corrections to your stance, especially with guiding hands on your hips 👀
✧ One night Kili has a coin perched on his hand. “Heads or tails?” You call your guess, and as luck you call it correctly. “Well, that means you get to sit with me tonight,” Kili replies with a wink.
✧ If you don’t mind it, he’ll probably end up giving you some sort of nickname, whether it’s based on some sort of inside joke or just something you like or remind him of.
✧ Conversations he’s involved in quickly involve you, too, as Kili can find a reason to think of you amidst even the most mundane topics.
Bilbo
✧ He isn't flustered around you, but he behaves with a certain awkward consternation that you wonder at. If you have a tougher time reading others like me, you might think he's just plain studying you, confused even, but in truth he is hyperfocusing on every little part of your interactions!
✧ The type to always stick by you, making sure he's the one seated next to you at mealtimes and placed next to you at the campfire.
✧ “Perhaps we ought to hold hands? Just to keep together. After all, it’s quite crowded out here.”
✧ Being introverted as he is, a big sign of Bilbo’s care for you is the way he approaches your time together- even at the end of the day he will still come to you, making it clear time together with you recharges. It equates to ‘me time’, which is big for him.
✧ Asks a lot of questions about your home, the cultures you come from and languages you speak. Bookish as he is, Bilbo will undertake learning your other language(s) and trying to bring pieces of your home right to you!
✧ “So, have you ever… you know, thought about settling down someday? After all this is over.”

Chapter 8
Thorin Oakenshield x AFAB!Reader
Summary: You wake up from your fainting spell to a group of very concerned dwarves. Thorin in particular would like some answers, and might just have a few ideas up his sleeve to solve your problem...
Warnings: no use of y/n, angst, NSFW, 18+, Minors do not interact, smut, implied eating disorder/starvation
author's note: This chapter ended up being sooo much longer than I anticipated, so I had to break it up into 2 parts. Don't hate me for where I choose to leave this one off😅
Word count: 2121
Someone is pressing a cold cloth to your forehead when you slowly start to drift back into consciousness. You groan as you start to regain feeling in your fingers and toes again.
It takes a moment for the memory of what happened to flood back in and your breath hitches in a jolt of panic as your eyes snap open and you scramble to get back to your feet.
“Woah, easy there lass,” Fili’s voice comes from behind you and he removes the cloth from your face to place a firm hand on your shoulder, keeping you from getting back up just yet.
“I’m fine,” you grumble, shaking him off.
“No you’re not,” Kili chuckles from your side. “You swooned into Thorin’s arms like some kind of damsel in distress. You need to take it slow.”
The brothers both bring a hand to your back, gently helping you to sit up further. Fili hands the cool cloth over to you and you sigh in relief as you slide it along your neck and chest.
Ironically you feel a lot better than you did before you passed out. A gentle breeze blows through your hair, and looking around you can see you are no longer in the same place you were when you lost consciousness.
Someone has carried you off the path to lie in a patch of grass alongside a small lake. The rest of the company must be waiting nearby as you can hear their booming voices through the trees and can smell the smoke of a campfire and food cooking over the flames. You feel something soft beneath you and look down to find yourself laying on a fur cloak. Thorin’s cloak.
You look around to try and find him. Farther down the lake you see him conversing with Oin and Bombur. They speak in hushed tones but judging by the troubled looks on their faces it’s safe to assume they’re talking about you.
“She’s awake, uncle,” Kili calls from behind you and Thorin’s head snaps to look over at you. He says something to Oin and they both hurry over to you.
“Welcome back, lassie,” Oin says, “you gave us quite a fright.”
“You need to eat something,” Thorin says, signaling to Bombur to bring you some food.
“I’m not hungry,” you tell him, “I just got too hot is all.”
“That wasn’t just heat stroke,” Oin replies with concern, “you’re still very pale and Thorin says you’ve been weak and disoriented all day.”
Of course, he did. You look over at him with a glare.
“Well then he would be mistaken, I’m perfectly fine.” you lie.
Bombur finally returns and approaches you with a bowl of soup and some bread but you shake your head, waving him off.
“I’m not hungry,” you tell them again, “I’m ready to get back on the road I just need a minute to catch my breath.”
“We’re not going anywhere. The others have already started making camp here for the evening, we’ll start up again in the morning,” Thorin insists. He takes the bread from Bombur and shoos him away with the rest.
“But Durin’s day-” you protest, knowing your deadline is fast approaching.
“We can afford to wait a little longer, we already covered enough ground today. Here,” he replies, offering you the bread, “just eat some of this.”
You push his hand away with another shake of your head. You can keep going you know you can. You’ve put a good amount of distance between you and the orcs already; you won’t jeopardize that now.
“In all the time I’ve known you, I’ve never once seen you refuse bread,” Kili comments with a nervous chuckle.
“You love bread,” Fili agrees.
You pay them no mind, keeping your eyes locked on Thorin’s as he thoughtfully examines your face. He’s given you no indication yet that he knows your real motives. How could he?
“Leave us,” he instructs the others, still looking at you.
They all hurry off towards camp without protest.
Fili hands the damp cloth over to his uncle and gives you another worried look before joining the others.
Thorin is still looking at you in silence. Your anxiety gets the better of you and you pull your gaze away to look down at the ground, trying to feign innocence.
He still says nothing.
Does he expect you to speak first? Perhaps he’s hoping that if he waits long enough you’ll divulge everything to him on your own.
That’s not going to happen, you laugh to yourself.
He rises to his feet with a sigh, but you still refuse to look at him as he makes his way over to the nearby lake. You hear him dip the cloth back into the water and wring it out before coming to sit in front of you.
He brings two fingers up to your chin, and gently turns your face to look at him. You’re too exhausted to fight him.
His hand slides down to your neck, gently tipping your head back so he can see you better. You refuse to let your eyes meet his, instead electing to look over his shoulder at the light reflecting off the lake.
You shudder as he brings the cool cloth up to your face, tracing a slow line from your temple all the way down to your jaw.
“Bombur says he hasn’t seen you eat anything since Rivendell. No one has,” Thorin’s voice is gentle and cautious. Not at all what you were expecting.
You finally meet his eyes to see they are not angry as you were expecting. Instead, they’re full of fear. You can’t remember the last time you saw this side of Thorin, if ever.
The cloth makes its way down the column of your neck, inching its way closer and closer towards the top of your breasts. You hate how much you ache for him to touch you there again.
Maybe it’s your desire or his rare show of vulnerability but you can’t help the words that escape your lips.
“Orcs can smell blood,” you whisper.
The cloth freezes just above your collarbone and he looks at you in confusion.
“I’m due to start my monthly cycle in the next few days,” you clarify and can see as the last pieces of the mental puzzle fall into place.
His brow furrows and his hand drops away from your chest.
“You heard what Lord Elrond said. If we are being hunted by Orcs I didn’t want to lead them right to us. I figured if I stopped eating for a while the bleeding wouldn’t start and it would buy us more time to get them off our backs.”
You bite your bottom lip, waiting anxiously for the lecture to begin. For him to yell and shout and tell you how reckless you were, or even worse to send you away from the company until you’re no longer a liability.
But he doesn’t.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he whispers.
You raise an eyebrow at him, “why didn’t I tell you I was about to start menstruating while we’re being hunted by a pack of orcs?”
“Did you think I’d be angry with you?” he scoffs, “over something you can’t control?”
“No, Thorin,” you snap, “I thought you’d send me away. Again!”
He blinks at you in surprise.
“If me being here puts everyone else in jeopardy, if it puts our quest in jeopardy, then that makes me a liability and it is your duty as king to send me away.”
“Don’t you dare try to tell me what my duty is,” his voice drops into a low growl and his fists begin to clench sending drops of water running down his knuckles from the cloth still in his hand.
“Quest or no quest I am also responsible for the well-being of my people which includes you in case you’ve forgotten. I will not allow you to do something so reckless and idiotic! How can you expect me to successfully lead this company to Erebor if you’re starving yourself while my back is turned? If you had told me earlier we could have found a better solution that didn’t cause you to faint in the middle of the road!”
“You mean if I had told you earlier, you could have left me behind in Rivendell instead of slowing the company down?” you snap back as he moves his face closer to yours. You can see the angry clench of his jaw, and the furrowed lines of his brow that seem to be a permanent facial feature on him.
“I would have thought you’d prefer the company of elves over that of your kin, you certainly seemed to enjoy Lord Elrond’s the other night-”
You still feel weak from hunger but somehow the rage his words inspire gathers up enough strength for you to roughly shove him away from you. He barely budges and you lift your arms to shove him again, but this time he catches you, grabbing you by the wrists keeping you firmly in place. He pulls you closer into his chest until you’re almost nose to nose.
“You will stay here with us and you will do so with a full belly. I need you to keep your strength up for the journey ahead and the orcs pursuing us. And I swear to you,” he says with a growl, “ If I ever hear about you trying to starve yourself again, I will personally shove every last crumb down your throat. Do I make myself clear?”
“Oh I have no doubt you’ve been dying to shove something down my throat,” you purr with a wicked grin, “which is why I don’t intend to give you the satisfaction, your grace.”
His grip on your wrists tightens.
“We’ll see about that,” he growls, letting go of your wrists. Before you can even blink his hands are grabbing your face, pulling your lips into his in an angry, passionate kiss.
You know you should resist him, or at least pretend like you don’t want him as badly as he clearly wants you. But seeing as you are quite literally starving, and he tastes absolutely amazing…
You tangle your hands in his hair and pull him closer to you. You groan in pleasure as his tongue sneaks past your lips forcing himself deeper inside your mouth. His hands leave your face and travel down your body to cup your ass firmly, pulling you into his lap.
You can feel his arousal through his trousers, stabbing your upper thigh, so close to where you want him but not quite close enough.
He drags his teeth along your bottom lip before starting to kiss a slow path along your jawline and down your neck, biting at your flesh as he travels further and further down.
You free a hand from his hair and reach it down between the two of you. You press your palm against his length and he growls into your neck. You want to tease him, to drive him to the edge of insanity until he is completely addicted to you. But not as badly as you want to feel him, all of him. You bring your other hand down to help unfasten his pants but before you can succeed he suddenly has you on your back beneath him, wrists held firmly overhead.
You growl and squirm trying to free yourself but you both know you’re not exactly at fighting strength at the moment. You are completely at his mercy and you can’t stand it.
“Please,” you whine, trying helplessly to press your body up to meet his again but he refuses to budge. “I need it,” you complain.
“Oh, I know exactly what you need,” he whispers, his beard tickling your face. He releases just one of his hands, moving your free wrist to join the other and your breath hitches in anticipation, hoping that hand is about to touch you in all the places that ache for him.
You open your mouth to beg for just that when something soft is suddenly stuffed into your mouth.
You blink at him in confusion before your taste buds can identify the unexpected guest.
Bread!
“You’re going to eat every last crumb,” he demands, “and when you’re done with that you’ll have more. I’m going to stay here and watch you eat every last bite, then and only then, will you get your other needs fulfilled. Do you understand?”
You nod eagerly, unable to speak around the roll he shoved in your mouth.
His breath his hot against your cheek as he brings his lips closer towards your ear.
“Good girl,” he growls

gif by me!!
desc. - reader puts her CPR lessons to good use when thorin's on the brink of death. (inspired by an imagine by @imaginexhobbit but make it sad🫶 also i listened to "farewell to dobby" while reading this, it adds so muchhh)
warnings - angst 💔
word count - 2.7k
For most of the time you’d been traveling with Thorin and his merry band of warriors, you could only account a few times you provided yourself useful to the group. Bofur was a whittler and toy maker, Oin a healer, Ori a scribe. Thorin and his sister-sons, the rightful heir to a kingdom. Even Bilbo had squeezed his way into a position of burglary, though he was hardly fit, and was still fighting to prove himself.
You?
A few stories around the campfire. Some questions answered about where you’d appeared from out of nowhere in particular. Mouth watering modern food recipes you babbled on about, over rabbit stew Bombur happily served on the cold nights on the road. And sure, you were getting good with a sword, but not nearly as skillful as the fearless fighter Dwalin.
You could see the malevolence and distaste in Thorin’s eyes when Gandalf decided for himself that you would make a fine addition to the group. After all, some otherworldly stranger happening upon them just as their fateful quest began was no coincidence. To him it meant something. But to the leader of the group? Danger? Deadweight? You couldn’t tell. Whatever it was, it settled behind his cold, steel-blue eyes and swelled whenever he watched you fail miserably at every task given.
You simply weren’t built for a world like this.
Thorin didn’t hate you. He wasn’t necessarily fond of you either. And how you longed to fit in, impress him maybe. Break past whatever tough exterior that he used to keep a distance between the two of you. Pushing too much would surely annoy him, so you opted to keep to yourself, sitting back and placing yourself near Gandalf and the witty Bilbo Baggins, who seemed to have walked a few miles in your own shoes. If he could wear them, that is. Hoping maybe one day the King under the mountain would come around. Maybe.
But now, soaring over the horizon of a morning sun and above the towering mountains, on the feathered back of a massive bird, Bilbo had proven himself in his bravery, and you were alone and useless in your skills.
You were seated atop the same eagle as the halfling, right behind another that carried Thorin’s limp body in its talons, wind and the worried cries of his nephews rushing through your hair and past your ears. Azog’s fight was not an easy one. Not that you could do much anyways, dangling uselessly from a blazing pine tree and fingers slipping from its scorching branches. But Thorin, ever the brave, was taken down quickly.
Thank the lord for Gandalf’s endless alliances.
Now, the eagles circled a plateau, oddly sticking out from above high treetops like a sore thumb, and began to descend to its slanted surface where each member of the company jumped off. Some destination this was, hundreds of feet off the ground. You’d think they might find a safer spot to land this band of underground dwelling travelers but beggars can’t be choosers. At least you were out of harm's way for the time being. The eagle you and Bilbo rode flew low enough for you to hop off and land safely on the cliff’s surface, then turn and see Thorin, unconscious and unmoving, set down gently in front of the rest of the group.
They all crowded around him, shouting and shaking his body vigorously, but to no avail. Your stomach dropped when you heard one of them mutter a word that sounded like “dead”.
You rushed over, just getting a few glimpses of his face from behind the heads of thick hair and heavy fur coats circling him like vultures, Bilbo at your heels and following in curiosity.
“He’s not breathing!”
“Thorin! Thorin, wake up!” A hand tapped on the side of his face.
You immediately began shouting to clear some room. The sea of worried dwarves parted for you, just enough room to sling your haversack off your shoulders and lean down on your knees, bringing an ear to his mouth. They were right. Not a breath to be heard. Nor a pulse, you discovered, after placing your fingers to the side of his cold neck.
“No…no no, no.”
The company shared confused mutters and looks, worry lines still etched like canyons in their faces as they watched you clamor to unclasp his thick cloak and pull away as much clothing as you could from his chest.
Now, you were no doctor. Not even a medical student for that matter. Just barely scraping by with an art degree and two, low paying part-time jobs back home. Wherever that was. But, thankfully, those required CPR lessons back in junior high suddenly came rushing back to you, and you were gonna put to the best use you could.
You locked your elbows, flattened your palms, and then hastily pressed against the brute of his firm chest. Mahal, it was stubborn, and the armored shirt between your hands and his heart was no help, but acting quickly spared no time for shedding any more of his clothes. Again and again you pressed, one, two, just how the instructor taught you with her quick tongue and loud voice.
“An even pace! You’re going to lose him!”
The recall made your head spin, especially considering it might have been a bit comedic at the time, trying to revive an armless mannequin on the tile floor of your classroom. But under the steady pressure of your palms was a real person, teetering on the edge of life and death.
Gandalf landed somewhere behind you, being the last to touch ground, but he was forgotten in the sea of deep voices asking what you could possibly be doing.
By the 16th compression, you were beginning to break a sweat. Twenty, twenty one…
“Lass… what are ya’ doing?” Bofur's voice, usually friendly and jovial, was a low and cowering one. His question left the rest of the group quiet. You heard, but you didn’t answer. That would be for later when this was over. Preferably with a happy ending.
Thirty.
You moved to pinch Thorin's nose shut, tilting his head just slightly off the ground with the other hand tangled in his hair and breathed into his open mouth.
Any and all bewildered muttering was lost on the focus you had, to watch for any movement in his relaxed face.
You breathed again, and then bent over to listen. Nothing.
Now things began to get more grave than you’d taken them before.
You moved back to begin compressions again, this time pressing harder and deeper against his heart. You lifted a forearm to wipe the sweat gathering on your brow.
In your class, you were supposed to take turns, and rotate when one got tired so they could properly compress. But this wasn’t class.
Thorin was beneath the weight of your hands and his face was losing color.
“Come on… come on Thorin.”
You lost count after the 19th shove downwards, adrenaline kicking in and tears blurring the corners of your eyes as Thorin convulsed.
A warm hand settled on your shoulder above.
“Lass… he-” you smacked it away, anger bubbling in the pit of your stomach like fire that you spat out.
“No! No he’s not, n-not yet.”
Again, you breathed into his airway, heavy and even, like you were supposed to. You were doing everything right. So why wasn’t it working? Why wasn’t he breathing?
This was the quietest you had ever heard the company. Only birds and the sound of your exhausted, heaving breaths and choking sobs floating in the cool morning air.
You moved back to compressions, starting again, one, two, three. You were begging him, hysterically pleading his unresponsive body to kick start back up.
“Please Thorin. Come on.”
Now tears rolled down the apple of your cheeks, warm and bothersome and blinding, falling over your hands and his clothes. Your arms ached at the now desperate shoving against his heart. You looked pathetic, like a widow begging for scraps of Thorin’s lifeline, something to get him through. The ground dug harshly into your knees, bruising and irritating them through the pants as they dully scraped with each movement.
Twenty two.
You were slowing down, growing weary and tired from the work. But it wasn’t good enough. At this point, with the silent stares, you knew that even the ever stubborn dwarves had lost hope for their leader some time ago. And you had too, but now you were already getting past the twenty-fifth press down. Curse the lot of them, just staring down at you with pity as you sniffed and wiped the snot and tears from your face. And curse the beauty of the morning sun peaking over the mountains, so regal and beautiful, and staring down at the morose show of a sad little human weeping to herself.
“Please… please, God you idiot. Running down there like that.”
A cry frogged its way out of the back of your throat, raspy and gurgling. You lift his head for the third time, sniffed in and then pushed your shaking breath as hard as you could manage, pulled away, then back down to press your quivering lips upon his cold ones and-
A breath. Soft and faint, just barely there, and it slightly cooled the tears on your face.
You froze, staring down at Thorin to see his eyes twitch just slightly underneath their lids. Another exhale fled him, his time much more apparent, and his brows furrowed as he stirred awake. The gasps and shouts from the company, scrambling over and circling him like they did before to help him up as he came to.
“He’s alive!”
“A miracle! Bless the Valor!”
You lifted yourself from the ground, onto your feet, but the shock of your attempts actually working, and exhaustion, just left you to stumble backwards onto your butt, crying harder than before, in relief and joy, nonetheless sobbing like your life depended on it. You gave into the fatigue of your muscles, the tiredness from the adrenaline, and exhaustion from your sobs, and fell onto your back, covering your eyes with a forearm with the other limply laying on the ground next to you. Bilbo kneeled next to you and laid his small hand over yours, watching as the king was pulled to his feet and grimacing at the noises of his jovial party celebrating with shouting and laughing.
“You did it,” The burglar said quietly, just enough for you to hear. It wasn’t just amazement in his voice, but reassurance. Something to ground you, like the warm squeeze of his hand.
You trembled, breaths coming in and out with a shiver.
Thorin’s dazed when you slowly sit up off the ground to look at him, swaying about and being jostled as each excited dwarf embraced and jumped around him, and an arm shouldered over Kìli’s to keep his balance.
“You were dead.” Dwalin’s normally stony, hard-set face, was graced with the most horrified look you’d ever seen in your life, eyes widened and brows twisted upwards in awe. That seemed to settle everyone down enough, and shake Thorin from the rest of his stupor. Once again, the world around you was blessed with silence that you hadn’t gotten a taste of since you arrived. It was short lived.
“Dead?” Thorin asked, incredulous and confused.
“Ye’ weren’t breathing lad!” Gloin chimed in, “we thought you were gone!”
The king’s eyes narrow, and shift between the members of his party, blinking away a head rush.
“How is that possible?” The second set of words he’d spoken since he screamed Azog’s name. Thorin’s voice was low and rasping. He slowly turned, following the astounded, wide-eyed stares from the surrounding dwarves, boring into you like you were some God.
You sniffled, wiping at your reddened, runny nose with the sleeve of your shirt.
He lifted a jeweled hand to graze over his heart, where you were reviving him, just staring at the sad sight of your tearful eyes.
“She saved ya’, Thorin,” Balin’s voice is serious and somber, breaking the silence, “Brough’ ya’ back from near death. Mahal knows how.”
Thorin’s eyes grew sharp, brows furrowing and piercing into you, where you pulled yourself to sit on your knees. His fingers tightened around the cloth where his hand laid, clutching at his chest.
“You,” he gruffed, “You did this?”
“I-I… I didn’t know if it was gonna work.” Your throat tightened and squeezed. Great, even more tears flowed down your face. Thorin’s eyes held the same glint that made your stomach twist with embarrassment and shame. The least he could do is offer a nod of gratitude towards you. Instead, he tore free from the group, ripping his arm away off his nephew’s shoulder and stumbling towards you like a drunken fool, with thudding footsteps.
Dwalin calls after him uselessly, just hanging back and letting the scene play out.
When he stops in front of you, eyes firey and broad chest heaving breaths in and out, standing a few inches over where you’re knelt, all you can do is try not to look away. You’re glad you hadn’t.
A boa-tight grip took hold of your heart and tightened when you saw his features soften, worry lines and crow's feet disappearing in the appearance of a small, incredulous smile. His softened eyes lined themselves with the hint of tears catching like jewels in the morning sun. Thorin dropped down to his knees to meet your height in a hug that you could never have prepared yourself for. You freeze for a moment, completely dumbfounded. Thorin, fearless, merciless, King Under the Mountain was hugging, no, embracing you, with the force of a thousand winds and strength of ten thousand men, because he was alive, thanks to you. And you hugged him back, pulling closer than you already were, and grasping at the back of his shirt and cried into his shoulder. The dwarves cheered in excitement behind Thorin. Through the yelling and praise, you can hear Thorin’s low voice next to your ear.
“I cannot repay this deed. Thank you.”
You pull away to see the kindest, warmest smile your eyes had ever been blessed to lay upon. It knocked the breath from your lungs. The corners of his eyes and the arch of his nose wrinkled upwards. It suited his face much more than the cold and stoic stares he was prone to.
“I wasn’t sure you were gonna make it.” Was all you could huff out.
“Yet I did. I misunderstood you greatly.” Thorin wiped a tear from the side of your face, “You make a member of this group. My life is indebted to you. And you,”
He peered over your shoulder at a wide-eyed Bilbo Baggins, standing just past your shoulder. You helped him stand from the ground, arm linked in his to meet the hobbit.
“You nearly got yourself killed,” he slipped free from your arm, and started toward Bilbo, just as he did you. “Did I not say you would be a burden? That you would not survive in the wild?”
Your face fell, akin to Bilbo’s solemn look. He stood there, taking the string of insults like a punching bag.
“That you had no place amongst us?”
And then he pulled the hobbit in just as he did you.
“I have never been so wrong, in all my life.”
Your heart reeled, and this time you smiled along with the rest of the company’s rejoices, watching the surprised grin spread across Bilbo’s face. Thorin pulled away.
“I am sorry I doubted you.”
“No, no. I would have doubted me, too.”
A hand planted itself on your shoulder, and you turned to look at Gandalf and his sagely smile.
“You’ve made yourself quite the home in these dwarves' hearts, young lady,” he said. It was comedic, the way his silvery hair and beard dramatically blew in the wind, “Perhaps once this has settled, you stay with them. I think you’d find yourself more than welcome in Erebor’s Halls.”
You hummed in thought. The band of travelers were gathered on the edge of the plateau, looking out in the distance towards the peak of the Lonely Mountain, calling their name through the mist.
Thorin turned back to look at you over his shoulder with a gentle smile, and nodded his head to you in a silent thanks. The ghost of a blush spread across his face.
“I just might.”

Always my beloved; Thorin Oakenshield x reader
*Author’s note*
For my first ever Thorin Oakenshield story I hope I did you Thorin fans justice with this sweet little oneshot. So @firestrike004 thank you soo much for your patience and I hope you all enjoy this fic.
Not really any warnings just injuries, some fluff, some angst (fairly minor but still some people need warnings).

____________________________________________________________
We knew the risk of going on this quest, but never did I think we’d come across the bane of Thorin’s family, Azog the Defiler.  We had believed he had died back at the battle of Azanulbizar from his wounds but low and behold there he was astride upon his infamous white warg.  We barely made our escape thanks to our burglar as well as the Great Eagles I had read so much about as a young dwarrow-dam.
Now we decided to take some rest to rest and for Thorin to recover.  The wounds from Azog’s warg were probably the worst I had ever seen and I’ve doctored warg bites before.  But thankfully with both mine and Oin’s help, my beloved should be back to his old strength within a few days.
Aye I did say beloved. Thorin and I are currently in the courting stage of our relationship, and have been for these past 5 summers. He had made a vow to me that once he would reclaim Erebor, we would finally be wed and I would rule at his side as Queen Under the Mountain.
Of course at first when Gandalf had persuaded Thorin to go on this quest, he wanted me to have absolutely no part in it.  In fact he had tried to send me off to live with his cousin Dain in the Iron-hills for safe keeping until the Mountain was reclaimed.  And being the stubborn female dwarf I am, I can be just as stubborn of not more than Thorin Oakenshield himself.
After some heated words, and even a fight to decide my fate, Thorin had kept his word that after defeating him in combat I had a right to go alongside the Quest.  In fact I was one of the first after Dwalin and Balin had agreed to follow Thorin.
I had just changed out Thorin’s bandages as well as flushed out any signs of infections before they could spread and cause his healing to delay or worse make him sick. As I returned to put my stuff back into the pack, I caught sight of Bilbo sitting down to some of Bombur’s stew. I walked over to him and asked.
“Mind if I join you?” he turned to me.
“Not at all (Y/n).” Hobbits truly were polite people.  Even back at his home when I was the only one out of the 13 dwarves to not to help myself to his food cabinet, he graciously tried to offer me something before one of the boys took it for themselves.  I took my seat next to him and he asked, “Do you mind if I—”
“Oh not at all Bilbo, please eat. Mahal knows we’ve been practically starving you since this quest began.” When we were in Rivendell and I caught Bilbo eating both dinner and supper within just a few short hours apart he had told me that Hobbits have seven meals every day.  I took it upon myself to first apologize for starving the poor lad and then when breakfast came that day, I had helped the Elves with serving something not only for the Dwarves but for Bilbo as well.
As he went to his stew, he took a few sips before looking around and whispered to me.
“How’s Thorin?” the lad truly has grown fond of my beloved.  Especially after what had happened along the Misty Mountains.
“He’ll live fortunately. Unfortunately for him, he’ll have to be put on bed rest for the next 24-48hours before he can even move. Warg bites are nothing to sniffle or chuckle at. And believe me getting Thorin to stay on bedrest is a challenge in on itself.”
“No doubt I imagine. I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of it being Thorin’s wife.”
“If it hadn’t been for you, I would’ve been called Thorin’s widow.” He stopped his eating and looked at me.  I placed my hand on his shoulder and continued, “What you did last night Bilbo, it’s something that I can never truly repay you for.”
“There-there really is no need to repay me. I just did what anyone of you would’ve done. Though I don’t know why I did without no skill of a blade it was all just—”
“Instinct. I get the feeling. But I am grateful nonetheless my friend.” I patted his shoulder.  “And if you’re up for it later today, Bofur and I can show you a thing or two about fighting. Same with Fili and Kili.” He nodded.
“I do appreciate it (Y/n).” I smiled at him before standing up and went off to join the others for my own meal.
Truthfully I don’t know what I would’ve done had I lost Thorin last night.  He and I have known each other since we were young Dwarves in Erebor, my father being one of the King’s proudest and strongest fighters but was sadly killed when the Dragon took our home.  My mother tried her best but she too succumbed to grief leaving me with no family, till Thorin stepped up.
He helped support me when we worked in the villages of Men and when we were finally able to make a temporary home in the Blue Mountains, that’s when my feelings for him began to deepen.  And eventually he came to accept he felt the same for me and never did I think Thorin would ever choose a wife, he never really showed much interest in wanting to court anyone, not since we lost our home.
I reached up to the left side of my hair, brought some of the hair that rested on my back to the front but something was missing.  No it-it cannot be! I looked down at my hair and brushed through it with my fingers and couldn’t see the courting beads Thorin had braided into my hair.  Not only that but some of the strand felt uneven (particularly where the braid once rested).
My heart raced as I tried to remember where and when the last time I felt the braid was. Obviously it was still intact at Rivendell, the Goblin tunnels I still had it, when Azog attacked us and—oh makk an E ha’ak!  When I fought alongside Dwalin, Fili, Kili and Bilbo to hold off the orcs from Thorin before the eagles came, one of them must’ve cut my braid off without my knowing!
A million thoughts were racing through my head.  First it was to curse the orc that did this and that I vowed to kill them if they ever show themselves again.  But most of my thoughts trailed back to Thorin.  What would he say? How will he react? Will he still want to be my One? Will he be furious that I lost his courting bead?
In our customs, a courting bead is so precious and is never given away lightly (especially if your One is someone like Thorin is).  By gaining the bead you’ve not only come to accept your One’s feelings for you, but also accept a courtship and eventual marriage to bond the two of you into one. Losing it or returning it is like having your heart getting grind up, slammed with a forging hammer until it’s nothing but tiny little pieces and then returning the heart to the one who gave you the courting bead.
And never have I once undid the braid nor removed the bead from my hair ever since Thorin gave it to me.  Everyone knew where it lied and if they saw it gone……what would the other’s think? I was so focused on my thoughts that I barely registered that I had walked into someone. When I looked up I had seen that I had walked into Gandalf.
“Oh Gandalf, forgive me.”
“No worries my dear (Y/n).” he looked me over and continued, “You seem to be worried about something.” I looked around to see if any of the others were nearby.  When I saw that no one was within hearing range, I asked Gandalf to come closer to my height with my two fingers.  He knelt down and I whispered to him.
“I’ve lost Thorin’s courtship braid.” He separated from me for a bit as I further explained, “It must’ve been that orc I faced off against when Azog caught us along the Misty Mountains. Gandalf, what if Thorin takes notice of it? Or someone already has and will tell him?”
“Now, now my dear, let’s not jump to conclusions.”
“But Gandalf you know what courting braids mean in our culture. You know what losing one’s courting bead means? I—I can’t lose Thorin. Not again, especially not after last night. He’s all I have left in this world.” He placed both of his hands on my shoulder.
“Thorin may be stubborn but I know he would never do that to you. You both have been through far too much to let something like this be the final straw to divide you both. Remember it’s not just him that’s helped you, you have helped him as well.”
He wasn’t lying. After his grandfather’s death and his father going missing, Thorin was practically lost in how to help our people. Whilst I too, grieved over my father I also had to support Thorin for he was hurting just as much as I was.  We depend on each other and support one another, the other’s beacon of light in the dark mines.
“But how do I tell him Gandalf?” I asked uncertainly.
“You’ll know just what to say my dear girl.” I took a deep breath then exhaled.
“Okay Gandalf, I trust you.”
“And you’ve learned to never doubt it.” He gave me a soft wink before going on his way.  I took a deep breath before heading back to rejoin the others.
The day was spent helping Bilbo train with his sword, scouting out for Azog or his orc pack, and helping Oin with Thorin’s wounds.  Which was what was happening right now, I held onto Thorin’s hand as Oin was once again flushing out the slightly infected bites and stitching them back up. Thorin was tense throughout the whole process.
He never did like to show pain whenever he had to get patched up.  Said he was afraid that others would view him as weak.
“Alright Thorin, just continue to not move about so much and those wounds will heal up quickly.”
“Thank you Oin. I know I’m skilled as a healer but I am nowhere near your degree of knowledge.” I told him.
“Do not doubt your own skills milady.” He told me.  “We’ll be lucky to have you as our Queen once we reclaim the throne. The first Dwarf Queen to be skilled in the knowledge of healing that could be rivaled by the Elves.” Him saying that suddenly gave me an uneasy feeling in my stomach.  As much as I do trust Gandalf in his words from earlier, there’s still a lingering shadow of fear that’s clung itself onto my like a thorn that won’t come out.  He soon left Thorin and I alone and I heard my One say.
“He’s right you know.” I turned to him.  “Never before as a Dwarf woman been so knowledgeable about herbs, healing methods and skills as you have my beloved. Erebor will be lucky to have you as it’s Queen.” He cupped the side of my face, “My only regret is that it will take us longer to get there.”
“Your health is what we should be focused on right now. I would rather Erebor have a King in good health rather than poor or worse dead.” I brushed the long strands of hair from his face before I began braiding it.
“Every hour lost hasten Durin’s day.” I rolled my eyes.
“Thorin. Durin’s day is not going anywhere. It lies on the same day as it always does. Not a week before not a week after. As I said, I would rather have you in good health to rule at my side, than you pushing yourself only to make your health worsen. Even if I have to bind you to this tree I will.”
“Reminds me of the time when you did just that to get me to have me teach you how to fight. Is that how you intend on delivering punishments? Bound the prisoners to trees with your tight knots?”
“Only to those truly stubborn enough not to follow either mine or Doctor Oin’s orders.” We both laughed softly before I gave him a soft kiss.  I felt as his hand went from cupping the side of my face to going around the back of my head, right to where I knew he’d always like to stroke his courting braid.
I separated our kiss and quickly grabbed his wrist and pulled it away from my head.  Immediately I could see the thoughts spinning in his head like a spider’s web.
“What is it (Y/n)?” he asked me.
“Nothing.” I quickly said.
“It’s not nothing. Never before have you stopped me from touching your hair.”
“I—I haven’t had the chance to brush my hair yet.” Even to me that was a pathetic excuse.  Thorin’s brow rose skeptically then he asked me.
“What’s really going on?” I sighed deeply and turned my head away from him.
“I cannot say.”
“Why not?”
“I just can’t.”
“(Y/n), amrâlimê.” He lifted my chin up to look into his deep blue eyes.  “What was it you once said to me when we first began courting?”
“That there should be no secrets between us.” I answered.
“So why are you starting now?” I sighed heavily, already feeling the wetness of tears forming under my eyes.
“I’m afraid.”
“Afraid of what?”
“That I’ll lose you.”
“(Y/n). These wounds of mine aren’t—”
“It’s not the wounds or in battle that I fear amrâlimê, it’s—” I took another deep breath before I took the section of my hair where he had given his courting bead and showed him how it was now gone.  As I expected his eyes widened in shock as he reached out for the cut strands of my uneven hair and brushed through them.  Almost hoping the bead would reappear along with the braid but it was gone.
“How long has it been missing?” he asked.  His voice stern as I knew he was trying to suppress his anger.
“I only noticed it this morning. My best guess is that it was the orc I was fighting with along the mountainside when Azog ambushed us. I’m sorry Thorin, this is my fault for allowing that foul creature to even graze my hair. I should’ve been more careful I should’ve been more aware of what I was carrying upon my head. I was careless, foolish and—” I was stopped by the feeling of his arms wrapped around me tightly.
“But you are not hurt, yes?”
“No.”
“Then that is enough for me.” I separated our embrace and looked at him in shock, his eyes that were once filled with shock and anger now appeared soft and gentle.
“I don’t understand. Thorin, my courtship braid to you has been severed. Your courting bead lost forever.”
“Mere objects. A new braid can be made, a new bead can be strung into your locks. But there is only one you,” he cupped my face into his hands, his thumbs gingerly stroking the apple of my cheeks just above the strands of my own beard.  “And I could not bear the thought of losing you.”
“You—you still wish to court me?”
“You are my One, (Y/n). Who else would I want as my Queen?”
“I just…..I know how special our courting traditions and symbols are. I was worried if you took notice of your bead and braid missing that you—you wouldn’t want to be with me anymore.”
“Amrâlimê,” our noses softly grazed one another’s as we stared deeply into each other’s eyes, “I would rather share one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone. You are my One, and nothing will ever change that. As I said, I can give you a new braid, I’ll find you a new bead. A more finer bead once we reach the mountain and reclaim our home. But there is only one of you. And I would be a fool to let someone like you go.”
He then pressed his forehead to mine and I shut my eyes as I felt his love and strength enter me as our forehead remained together.
“I am sorry I doubted your love Thorin.” I said after awhile of silence between us.
“There is no need for apologizes. You are always be my beloved, no matter what the world gives us…..”
“We’ll always be One.” I finished our vows that we made for one another when we first began our courtship together.  He soon moved his lips over mine and once again we kissed.
His hand going back towards the area where my braid once stood, and I felt his fingers softly brush through those strands of hair and I felt myself finally relax under his touch.

You were sure that everyone in Erebor knew of your husband’s appetite. His hunger was rivaled only by Bombur, though Dwalin worked it off in his battle training with the Kingsguard. When you were making the rounds with your deliveries, you loved to sit and watch all the handsome dwarves train. Your eyes always find their way back to your handsome husband. Though your absolute favorite days what Thorin and Dwalin’s “private” trainings, spectators including Thorin’s nephews and yourself. While you harbored no feelings for Thorin beyond the fondness of a good friend, you’d have to be blind not to be attracted to him. The two of them were often shirtless during their training sessions, and you had the opportunity to ogle the muscles on them both.
You knew your husband bragged about you to his friends. You’d have to be deaf not to hear it because the man was neither subtle nor discreet. You knew he’d brag about having a woman who bakes because “The sweeter she eats, the sweeter she tastes.” You didn’t mind this, though it caused women to look at you with envy and most of the men to do the same with Dwalin. His bragging had turned your cunt into some mystical rumor that you were sure would be passed down through the ages until the rumor became legend.
“Dwalin,” You rubbed the man’s shoulders after a long day of training. It was almost an act of worship the way that you knew he protected you. “I would like to try something different.”
“Different, how?”
“Well, husband, it’s not that I’m disappointed with our lovemaking, it’s just that I’ve come to know what to expect, and we keep repeating the same patterns. I just think it would be nice to switch it up every now and again.”
“Like adding another? I’ve seen the way that you eye Thorin during our training. I don’t think he’s enjoyed the love of a woman in many years, long before Smaug.” Dwalin suggested.
“You know I don’t feel for Thorin.”
“All the better. I won’t have to worry about his kingly ass stealing you from me. Would you like to invite Thorin in some time?”
From then on, Dwalin had his lips sealed. None of your efforts to coax the information out of him worked. He refused to tell you when Thorin would be joining your bedroom affairs. Nearly a full season had passed since the night you suggested bringing it up, and you worried that Dwalin had forgotten.
The chill of winter soaked deep into the mountain that hardly even the forge furnaces could fight. The well-crafted living quarters were nice and toasty, and their fireplaces were well-stocked with wood from Tranduil’s domain. The fires burnt with the smell of nutmeg and allspice, hailing in the holidays when families gathered and feasted on slow-roasted boar.
You dressed in one of your favorite outfits, heading down to the bakery where you worked alongside dwarven masters. They were initially unsure of a hobbit in their kitchens, but after a heaping batch of your lemon poppyseed scones, they changed their minds and welcomed you heartily. Given the holiday season, the kitchens were plenty busy preparing for the King’s Yuleblot ball. The bakers, the tailors, and all the chefs were quite busy preparing all the orders as Balin and Fili ran around making sure their shipments from across middle earth were in order.
When Bunty, the head baker, came in with a cupcake just for you, you realized it was your birthday. You’d been so busy that you’d forgotten. Dwalin had forgotten. He’d never forgotten your birthday in all the years you’d been together. Normally he’d wake you up with his tongue; this morning, you’d woken up alone.
Dejected and beaten by a long day of baking, you’d managed to drag yourself back to your and Dwalin’s shared living space. You swung the heavy door open; Dwalin stood there naked as the day he was born. His impressive cock hung heavy between his thighs.
“Dwalin!” You squealed, covering your eyes as your face heated. “Oh, stop this shying. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before.” Dwalin spun you around, landing a swift slap to your ass.  He leaned down, relaxing you with his lips against your neck, kissing and biting along the way. “Strip and lay on the bed.”
You didn’t have to be told twice to obey your husband’s direction. It was your honor to serve him as long as he continued to spoil you with his loving caress. He treated you like you were his goddess, regularly bringing you gifts and telling anyone and every one of your beauty. Dwalin kissed every inch of your naked body as he locked you in cuffs expertly crafted just for you. A gift for your anniversary.
You’d always heard of dwarves’ insatiable appetite. You hadn’t expected their sexual appetite to be just as insatiable. You could almost swear that you’d been in this room for days, locked in these special dwarven cuffs lined with fur. Dwalin spent his sweet time driving your anticipation through the roof, teasing you relentlessly with all the tools in his arsenal.
You whined, arching your back as a warm tongue and cool breath licked along your pussy. The light grazes of his beard scratching delightfully against your thighs. One wide calloused palm pushed against your lower stomach, increasing the sensation of the fingers stroking inside of you. Your lover knew every inch of your body but still took his time exploring every nook and cranny.
A hand gently caressed your cheek, turning your face to the edge of the bed.
“Come on, Darling, open up,” Dwalin coaxed you, making it abundantly clear that it was not your husband eating you out. You let your mouth fall open with a light moan. The fact that Dawlin was sharing you was even hotter than when he’d mentioned wanting to try it one day.
The tip of his thick cock touched your lips, glossing salty precum over them. Slowly he fucked your mouth, warming you up as he edged closer and closer to the back of your throat.
“Fuck, you feel good,” Dwalin moaned, making whoever was between your legs chuckle. The vibration around your clit made you whine, arching further against his lips, hoping to increase your pleasure.
“And tastes good, too,” The dwarf between your legs remarked, sounding pleased. His voice was so familiar, yet you couldn’t place it. You were too overcome with pleasure to care right now. You moaned around Dwalin’s cock; the overwhelming urge to please both men filled you.
“Indeed,” Dwalin grunted, “Always happy to be used for her husband’s pleasure.”
They were talking about you like you weren’t in the room, and you could practically feel yourself drip around the mystery dwarf’s fingers.
“Such a greedy little cunt. May I fuck her, Dwalin?”
“Aye, though you may never want any other pussy after.”
The man between your legs slowly removed his fingers, noisily slurping up your juices. You heard the rustling of clothing being removed and thick, calloused hands adjusting your chained-up legs, so he could fit himself between them. His thick cock stretched you out as he slowly slid himself inside, making you gasp around the cock burying itself in your throat.
Once the mystery man was fully seated inside you, he slowly pulled out until just his tip was still inside you, only to slam himself back into you. You squealed at the ferocity of it. He was fucking you like a man starved of this affection. Every stroke hits your G-spot, creating that familiar tightening sensation in your core.
“That’s it, Amralimé,” Dwalin removed his saliva-coated cock from your mouth, allowing you to moan freely, volume increasing threefold. Lips attached themselves to your nipple, both the mystery man and Dwalin focusing their attention on your pleasure. “Are you gonna cum on his cock?”
“Yes,” You whined, back arching, trying everything you could to increase your pleasure. “Please, may I?”
“You may cum for your King.”
Thorin?! It was clear to you now who the voice belonged to, and you wondered why you hadn’t placed it sooner. There was no one that Dwalin would trust with his wife other than his best friend. Your pussy quivered before releasing an explosion of pleasure through you.
“That’s a good girl,” Thorin cooed in your ear as you clenched around him, hips twitching. You panted, collapsing back against the bed.
“Oh, we’re not done with you yet,” Dwalin threatened you with a good time, the clinking of the cuffs being released from around your ankles. The two men gently flipped you over so you were on all fours.
“You were right,” Thorin remarked, “I think this lady has ruined a world of pussy for me.”
“Take her ass, Thorin. You’ll never know anything tighter.”
Dwalin settled himself beneath you, easily supporting your weight as Thorin eased himself into your tight ass. It hurt, at first, a lot. Your tears were being absorbed by your silken blindfold. The whole time Dwalin comforted you through the pain, telling you what a good job you were doing and how good a girl you were being.
After a beat, the pain eased as your tight ass got used to being stretched out around such a thick cock. Thorin slowly began to thrust his cock in and out of your ass as Dwalin lined himself up with the entrance of your pussy, using Thorin’s tempo to ease himself inside. The feeling of two cocks inside you was damn near overwhelming. It was otherwordly. It had you flying so high into blissful pleasure that you never wanted to come down.
“Fuck, she’s tight,” Thorin groaned, thrusts growing uneven. Each of their mismatched thrusts made you moan and squeal. The wet slap of skin against skin filled the room, accompanied by whimpering moans and grunts. “And I might’ve thought you were wrong for marrying a hobbit.”
“I told you she felt better than any dwarven lass you’d find.” Dwalin had been bragging about his wife from the moment he’d met you. He knew that you were the one for him, and your sweet pussy was just a bonus.
The playful ribbing was lost on your ears. You could swear that you ascended to the next world. The two made fine use of your holes, surely reaching ascension themselves.
“Fuck, I’m gonna breed her sweet ass,” Thorin grunted, trying his best to maintain a steady pace. He didn’t want to blow his load too soon. Besides, he knew better than to breed another man’s woman without permission.
“Aye, have her ass. She’ll not be pregnant by you either way.”
Thorin’s hips stuttered as he gripped yours, burying himself deep within your ass. You could feel his cock twitch as he spilled his load. Dwalin followed suit, moaning your name as he filled you with his seed. It was any wonder how he’d not gotten you pregnant by now.
They both slowly eased themselves out of you, and unable to support yourself any longer, you collapsed on your husband’s chest. He pulled down your blindfold, allowing you to gaze upon his gruff, handsome face. Dwalin unlocked your cuffs, kissing both of your wrists and holding you tightly, while Thorin when to warm a wet rag and clean up the semen that was dripping out of you.
“I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that you chose Thorin.” You remarked sleepily, exhaustion now seeping through your over-expended body. Thorin gently pressed the rag to your pussy, then your anus, the heat easing the dull ache the men had left behind.
“Well, someone needed to get him laid,” Dwalin chuckled heartily.
“Happy birthday, Miss Y/n.” Thorin finished dressing, leaving Dwalin to tend to you for the rest of the night.
“Happy Birthday, Amralimé”

Just re-watched all of the Hobbit. I am ready to change the outcome. Please send requests. I need to fill this hole in my heart. It doesn’t have to be from my prompt lists either.
