“i need you to eat something.” clark begs you, his eyes filled with worry. he had crouched down next to where you sat. clark had given you free-reign around his fortress, but you chose to sit in the corner near the entrance.

“fuck you.” you turn away from him, anger dripping from your voice. you haven’t eaten since he brought you to his ice castle, but you can’t remember how long ago that was. you missed home, your friends, your family. you missed freedom. you hear clark sigh.

“you’re gonna get sick if you keep going like this, (y/n).” his hand touches your face and you slap his hand away. you know there was no way you could hurt superman, but he holds his hand looking hurt, and you feel a twinge of guilt. he holds out a bag from Big Belly Burgers and places it next to you.

you scooch back, your back hitting the wall, not willing to back down. “i’ll eat if you let me go.” you feel like a child throwing a tantrum, but you would do anything to go home.

you see him rub his forehead in frustration, “this isn’t working.” he mutters to himself. you don’t say anything, wanting to see what he would do. instead of trying to fight you again, clark picks up the bag. “i’ll come back when you’re ready.” he says.

“come back? what are you talking ab-” in one blast of air, clark was gone and you were alone.

days had gone by, you felt like you were going crazy from the solitude and the hunger. thankfully, clark had left mountains of water bottles for you, so you tried to fill up with those. it wasn’t enough, you had started to miss your kidnapper’s company after many conversations with yourself. all you could do was sleep or stare at the wall, blankly. after a week, you couldn’t take the isolation. “clark?” you call out, weakly. not a moment passes before he appeared before you.

his eyes were filled with pity and worry, “are you ready, sweetheart?” his hands cup your face and you lean into the warmth, nodding.

he could never hurt you. that entire week away was killing him, but the commenters were right. you just needed to know that he was all you needed.

i love kimcom so much.. i love them so much..

theyre so..!! honestly if i think about them too much i'll cry.. and I'm rereading a few bits of dark castle to compare the novel and the webtoon and gosh, sleepyc and team's art really allows kimcoms interactions to feel more alive and goofy, silly even,,

epilogue spoilers ahead near the end

and novel's narration are like the gaps to fill in, both sides elevate the story,, i sound like a food critic but like. oh my goodness you read the part where kdj reunites with sys in dark castle after his revival and youre so taken by how sweet and cute it is. and then you read novel and..!!

I wouldn't have been able to run straight here if it wasn't for this feeling. I saw Shin Yoosung crying and thought that parents probably felt like this.

GOODBYEEEE I AM SO DEADDDD LIKE OH MY GOD YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME???

and webtoon chooses to let kdj maintain the same composure he had when he talked to jihye after saving her just moments prior,, and it works because now i read his inner thoughts in novel and I FEEL SO INSANE?!?!?! YOU BITCHHH SAY IT SAY YOU MISS HER?? no wait .. im getting off topic. this is becoming a kdj sys ramble

Honestly even though i call them found family I don't really classify them as a family either, they feel more like a home? at least at the first half of the story.. In an apocalypse where everything feels uncertain and you've lost all your close friends, you'd end up wandering aimlessly, so sticking to a group is moreso a temporary means of survival than friendship of any sort. It's also why kdj is so essential to kimcom as their glue, as the person who gathered them together, he provided them with that temporary party. and having that 'constant' you can return and realign to in that setting is so.. augh...

not to mention that three of the kimcom members are kids and kdj is their form of stability. lgy and sys hug him whenever they see him because he's the first adult that had ever shown them care. jihye is probably shaken from the first scenario but while she clings to yjh and admires him as her master, he probably doesnt do enough to reciprocate her respect or communicate as enthusiastically. now that i think about it, jihye feels kind of lonely, not young enough to get along with the kids particularly closely and not old enough to be buddies with the adults. does she make up for it by being talkative?)

And at this point in the story its evident that theyre not even that close !! singshong's writing style isnt one that elaborates on emotions and descriptive fluff to begin with, but sys is stated to not be so fond of jihye in ch162 because jihye was rude to kdj, they still feel like theyre in their own cliques. sys and lgy stick together as kids of similar ages, jhw and lhs get along normally, hsy is. hsy. lhs for one narrates kimcom as his 'companions' quite early on, but i'm unsure whether that choice is becuase thats just a suitable word for people closer than 'allies' but not close enough to be 'friends'. ultimately its just a buncha people who are trying to survive, and care about the guy that brought them tgt. it doesnt really feel like anything more than that.

and then as you're caught up in kdj's shenanigans, small snippets pass by and they feel a bit warmer yk. like sys and lgy having a coin flip whenever they're uneasy. (sys states that lgy has "done this before", like he's the one that has suggested the past coin flip(s). it feels like its implying that hes initiated this game system just to cheer up sys because shes a lot more transparent about feeling sad that kdj isnt there.) sooyoung of all people, willing to get an outer god contract to save sangah. jihye, hyunsung and seolhwa chilling in the room during proof of stars, and hyunsung was picking his nose like are you fr they are so unserious,.

in jttw arc ch 433, yoosung growing close enough to joonghyuk to not get intimidated by him and (forcefully (forcefully is a strong word but she straight up just puts it on his cheek unprompted and that is so funny of her)) apply seolhwa's ointment, even giggling when he allows her to do it after she brings up doctors orders.

after proof of stars, theres a portion that goes

The party members supported each other. (...) I saw the white lines connecting the empty universe. The stars, that seemed like they would never meet each other, were facing each other.

please know this: i wanted to cry and scream so bad. ive started to spell out kimcoms names rather than address them in their shortforms, that writing inconsistency is how emotional i am right now.

I can't do the justice of listing down every instance where they've grown a little closer, but i'm hoping to remember more on my second reread.

because orv is such a long novel, the way they gradually grow closer also feels realistic.. and by the time you're in the ch400s, its so clear that they wouldn't go anywhere else without each other.. if i start talking about vacation arc i'll just start sitting and staring at a wall again.

"you're explaining how an average found family trope is realised" Youre right!!! youre right!!,, me when the found family is actually found family.. don't shame me like this.. i'm just an emotional person..

Ah and then you get moments where their unity really shines, and they become god pummeling probability festering forces of nature... and its when one guy's life is in jeopardy. even when they weren't all that close yet, its when they save kdj where they feel most strong. and its a bit obvious because its like, common goal makes people group together yknow, but god the adrenaline and relief when they appeared in demon king selection.. the way their names pop up one after another when they vote for jung heewon's skill..

and 1865 !! 1865 was really the epitome of it all!! oh my god they were all so reluctant to return to the hell of the scenarios but they dragged themselves back because of one fucking guy that they loved too much. and i'm rereading 1865 a bit as i write this but the way they all yelled at their sponsors to pick them is so so funny and the whole speedrunning thing really shows their desperation to quickly find him but also feels a bit fun and even exhilirating with how theyd already beaten the game once, and they were going to storm through the whole thing again to reach kim dokja. like a fuckin earthquake. the lines in ch 536

They had to be insane. (...) These people who lost their minds were clearing the scenarios with insane methods.

YEAHHH THATS MY FUCKING KIMCOM WOOOH OH MY GODD THEYRE SO INSANE!!!!

kimcom's bond was strengthened because of their love for kim dokja, kimcom drifted so close because of how much they wanted to save kim dokja. whenever i think about the 'found family' trope between kimcom, it exists because they love kim dokja, and once again i'm reminded of how much that bastard is loved and how he denies that he is anything else but a reader outside the covers of the story.

It's not to say that all of kimcom's bonds were because of him, but it's clear that had it not been for him, they would have dissipated so much quicker.

genuinely i dont know if ive proven anything through this. i just had to talk about it. i havent even talked about the relationship between kdj and each kimcom member but then the post wouldnt end. sys's section would be thousands of words and i would even have a portion for gong pildu and jang hayoung..

Yk, something about my Eddie fell first essay, I never really went like "oh this is something that could be proven right by canon" mostly because when I wrote that I was still dealing with buddie being a distant possibility not something that's so close I can taste, but then Ryan was let out of interview jail. Then I went full conspiracy theorist. (Please note everything from here on out is a conspiracy theory that will most likely never be confirmed or denied so I'll live in it forever) I had made the post about how I think Ryan is playing Eddie as in love with Buck, the question was whether he was being told to do that or he was just playing it up as much as they allowed him to because we know Ryan supports the ship, and then Ryan said the "this goes beyond friendship and I love you to the core" thing.

He said he talked to someone about what it meant for Eddie to do that, because he didn't understand it at first, and then that's the conclusion he reached. But the thing is, that line "I love you to the core" specifically means so much in the context of the season, to say I love you to Buck like that in season 4 is so MONUMENTAL, that I wanna believe one of the writers straight up told him "yo this is a love confession" and explained it to him like that, and he has been playing Eddie with that line in mind ever since, and that's why he had that locked and loaded for the interview. Because, like, I, in my most normal day, am out here arguing they casted Ryan with a plan, even more considering the way Eddie was written for Ryan, they could very much have told him "look, play with the chemistry you and Oliver have, if the audience likes with might amp it up, if we're lucky we might go there someday" because you have moments in season 2, but season 2 is still very low stakes, but then when I think about the the season 3 of it all, the there's nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you, the lawsuit, and well of it all and the way they put Ryan in pr jail after Eddie begins, an episode that would retroactively be HUGE for buddie but it's pretty big for them anyway, I'm like 🤔 because we all saw Ryan talking about buddie this past month, the guy CANT SHUT UP, and if he was told something during season 3 or 4 along the line of "play it up, we are gonna fight to make this happen", putting him in pr jail would make sense, because they can't risk him saying something if they're not sure they can deliver, because how fast they dealt with Buck being bi while in a new network makes me convinced someone on fox was blocking it and nothing will convince me otherwise. But now they can, so they let Ryan run free. Because you can make a VERY strong argument that Eddie is aware of something during season 5 and 6, season 6 most of all, but you can very much make season 5 queer coded and have Eddie be like "oh I can't ignore how I feel about him anymore", because Ryan also said something about Eddie's breakdown and how that's what allowed Eddie to let Buck "know who Eddie truly is" which is interesting with the way Eddie is constructed, because if Buck is inside the last wall Eddie had up, what's actually stopping Eddie to see he's in love with Buck by the end of the season? Which would make season 6 as a pining season for Eddie make sense. Down to the way the cemetery seems to be pulling these very specific reactions from Eddie that are the same reactions we saw him have in breakups and flights with Shannon. But also things like Eddie's reaction to the lightning being something we never saw from Eddie before AND the way Oliver talked about a scene of Eddie losing his composure during in another life, not during in a flash that we didn't get to see most likely because they completely rearranged 6b because they thought they were gonna get cancelled, so they wouldn't be able to deliver what they had in mind. But now they have nothing but time, season 8 is already confirmed, and by the looks of it abc was like "go for it" with buddie in a way that fox never was, so they finally got to tell Ryan "we're doing it, go crazy" and now we are here. They could prove me right today. About Eddie not about Ryan knowing and some secret plan being in place forever. I don't think it's gonna happen. I seriously don't think it's gonna happen. I'd be more surprised to be proved right than wrong here. But the conspiracy theory is a possibility that felt very real for a second there during promo season lol

I think that fans usually prefer romantic pairings between characters who have nothing in common, or they're kinda of enemies... yk what I mean? like, fans ship Harry with Draco and it's literally the most popular hp ship but on the other hand, not so many ship Harry with Ron (who was willing to sacrifice himself for Harry in the third book). their friendship, their bond, especially in the books, was as strong as James and Sirius's friendship, and Weasleys loved Harry the way Potters loved Sirius. that's why i believe wolfstar still would be more interesting ... and tragic, oh god. yeah those were just my opinions ofc ,and maybe I'm wrong haha

and please write abt tall Sirius with short, ty mwah <3

I mean, yeah, I can kinda see it and I can kinda see the appeal, even though I personally never shipped Harry and Draco (but there's this book Carry On which is basically a parody-of-a-sort (in a good way!) of Harry Potter and other popular YA books (mainly hp as we have this whole wizarding school) and there the enemies really become lovers and I ship it soo...) but I somewhat understand it. Also, sorry but for me if that person is not completely annoying and riling you up, it's not love xD I think that's why I also ship Jily, tbh, I wanna know more about them too. This being said, I know there are people like that out there too, but I'm so glad Snape and James aren't a popular ship 😂😂😂 I said I don't hate ships but I just don't think my heart would have survived if this was everywhere. Also, it would be definitely one of the unhealthy ones.

But yeah, I totally agree with Ron and Harry being as close and James and Sirius and I actually think that these friendships are totally the best. And they shouldn't be ruined by romances. People should just normalize people being really close without anyone being in love with the other.

Still, I do ship Wolfstar a lot, maybe one of the few ships I have that is friends to lovers, lol. And yeah, in their case it's gonna be extremely tragic. Likee, the Prank. Idk, I'm the type of person who makes bad decisions and my friends are constantly angry but I don't know how you recover from something like that. And that's nothing. I can't stop imagining these twelve years where Sirius was in prison and knew everyone assumed he had killed his best friend. But that's literally nothing compared to how Remus must have felt. Like, what?? Your two best friends are dead and you assume that the third one (or your lover) did it?! In any case it's crazy.

Edit cause I totally forgot: I don't wanna think of Sirius with short hair, tho 😭 Like, I don't care that much about height difference but I can't imagine him with short hair. I want to believe it was just shortER. Bc he had long hair in PoA because of his time in Azkaban but he later kept it long too. So he either realised it's better, or at least at some point he had it like that. I mean, suits the whole motorbike vibe too.

really appreciate the Kon analysis, but I really don’t think it’s enough for me to see him as queer. Like I really really see Tim being into Kon, but not the other way around

and that is very valid! again, it's all... very up to interpretation. My reading of him as queer frankly has less to do with his feelings for Tim (that post was to explain what my thoughts on his feelings for Tim are, rather than to be why I view him as queer) and more to do with the kinda stuff I talked about in this post- about how as a character who was pushed into following conventions that don't necessarily actually apply to him because of various pressures (to the point where, again, it is canonically shown how forced his personality can be at times particularly through Superboy #83), he just never thought beyond any of that and that it'd be a route worth exploring.

Because frankly, the majority of his canon relationships are very surface level, the feelings are a lot based on Kon saying "Ah yes sexy women" because he thinks that's what he should think- and I feel like that shows in how most of them don't... go very far (or it's him getting into a bad situation, see: Knockout). The relationships that do go further for him are ones built on a more solid foundation that had less to do with the immediate aesthetic attraction and more to do with a strong friendship. And it's the sort of thing where I can just really see him, once he stops caring so much about how he's perceived and accepts that he doesn't need to try to be (or think about what it'd be like if he was) 'normal', realizing that the gender of the person is less relevant to him and it's more about the connection he feels with them.

But also like, nobody needs to agree with that or anything, it's just the way that things fit together in my brain, yk?

I haven’t posted on tumblr in ages but this is the only place I know to rant.

I feel like there were three storylines mushed into one book here. Nesta, nesta & cassian, and the others.

NESTA - 5/5

Singling out Nestas part includes her growth, her friendships, her training, the stairs and the blood rite.

I LOVED this. I feel like so many people have serious trauma that causes us to change for the worst. we become harsh, we lash out at the people we love, we lash out at ourselves, question our worth, etc.

( did I love to see that the crew voted for this? no but that’s for another section. )

I honestly don’t have much to say besides it was wonderful to see nesta find herself. using the training to hone her mind and body, making amazing bonds with other women of trauma, to form that sisterhood, to finally master the stairs but to use them as a time to understand herself, and to ( unofficially ) complete the blood rite. chefs kiss, I’m so happy for her.

I completely understand what it’s like to be so comfortable in your sorrow ( or anger ) and not want to leave, it’s all you know.

The sleepover scene really tore at my heart I’m the good way, as someone who has three sisters, I loved it. No matter how cheesy it sounds sisterhood is a gift. I’ve found myself at odds with my sisters on so many occasions, wishing I could never see or speak to them again, but it always reverts to the i breakable bond of having a growing partner.

plus gwyn and emerie amazing women love to see it. Great supporting characters.

the blood rite, trope-y but still great to see her flourish.

NESTA + CASSIAN 4/5

Again, very cliche. I still liked it. The sex was filthy which wow i was a bit blown away. I have no qualms reading scenes like that but i felt so sad it had to be just sex in the beginning.

I looooved that he stood by her side. What an amazing man. Yeah I know they said I knew you were my mate etc etc but I mean elain and lucien are mates and so obviously not together so,,,,, point being he stayed not knowing what would happen.

I loved the hike, what a great connection. And a great message, if you need your time take it but I’ll always be here and waiting.

I do have to say I agree with some people that why can’t there ever just be an emotional scene followed by I love you and just yk comfort and etc. I do that with my husband all the time, no sex needed to portray the emotions.

Granted they are new mates but still.

THE OTHERS - 1/5

Am I not the only person who was really taken aback by the crew in this book? What is this voting on people’s life and feysand being wonky as fuck????

I was pleasantly surprised about the pregnancy but I felt like this was not the book for that. I don’t even know how to properly explain it I just am really surprised? I just didn’t like the general tone and vibe of everyone.

Mor? okay girl was barely here and uh is she hiding something? what is eris hinting at? ( dONT come at me if we are supposed to know I only reread the ending of acowar ). Feysand? Um just straight up annoying and rude. their bonus scene pissed me off. and yeah she’s pregnant I don’t give a shit I do not like how they treated everyone in this. Amren? No complaints shes chillin. I would expect her to vote on ppls lives but not everyone else. Elain? girly strong but practically not even in the book. Cassian? king Az? Pretty normal imo.

I feel like this book should’ve focused on Nesta more and she could’ve focused more on the enemy rather then throwing feysands pregnancy problems around. the plot was sloppy and loose.

BONUS - ERIEL

I love azriel, I always have he is one of my favourite characters. I hate people bashing on him, bc listen the fuck up. we do not know ANYTHING that has gone on between elain and him in an entire YEAR. for people to come for his life bc he’s having fantasies, how is it any different then cassian? he’s an illyrian male like??? oh because they aren’t mates? yeah well for 3/4th of the book it wasn’t confirmed nes and cas were mates either and everyone still rooted for them meanwhile their mates could’ve been somewhere else. mates does not always mean romantic, rejecting the bond exists for a reason. give elain a break, she finds no comfort in lucien. period. dont act like if luciens girl hadn’t been killed he wouldnt be cozied up with her rn bc he already found love. And would’ve accepted the platonic bond. I didn’t bother to read the part where he’s “ flirting” with gwyn. like bro got yelled at for trying to pursue someone he loves and someone who loves him back you assholes. he’s a man, they aren’t perfect, not even rhys or cas. he doesn’t even know gwyn and for yall to be like omg his shadows come alive blah blah, brUh he doesn’t even know her. If he chooses to persue that so be it but imo it’s squat compared to his relationship/friendship with elain. and I think you’re all taking the three sisters statement wrong, hes not saying he’s entitled bro he’s just saying like does it not make sense seeing as they are in love/attracted to each other.

CONCLUSION

Loved the Nesta story line, liked the nesta cassian story line, did not like anything else.

so,,, wednesday you didn’t have afternoon classes

and neither did any of your friends

but you needed to study and you were broke so you decide to get lunch in the school canteen

but you were living the high-school loser reality where you have no one to sit with at lunch

you turn around to see chaeyoung all smiley and giggling with her food

besides a whole lot of screaming,,,

you had a great time with chae’s friends

they were whole crackheads but very nice and welcoming

as it seems they all have a passion for art, specially music and dance

three of them were even a soundcloud rap trio JSJDJ

it was amazing how besides being over 20 people they all were so close,,,

and you felt like two worlds had just collapsed yk??

you were very close with chae but she never met any of your friends, it felt like you only knew each other by text and in arts class and whatever life you had outside it was a completely different world

and seeing her surrounded by her friends was a completely different thing

and you liked seeing that side of her tbh

so you started having lunch with her more often

and you really liked it

you were getting closer with her and her friends who were amazing people

and you also grew used to the burn that would burst into your chest every now and then when you hang out with them

even though sometimes it was too strong

when chaeyoung smiled it was too strong

when she’d hug you or hold your hand it was too strong

it made you feel like you going in a strawberry field with her and just shower her face with kisses

but then she’d get close to another friend of yours and you’d feel,,, empty

like you weren’t enough

literally wtf did this girl do to you—

time went by and it was time to present your projects in art class

you drew two planets smiling to each other to represent your friendship with chae and were very curious to know what she had drawn

“Alright class, it’s time to let your partner know what you’ve drawn, I’ll give you sometime to talk to each other before giving me the drawings”

you turned to chae and you could feel your whole body shaking

“I’ll go first!” she says excitedly, calming you down

she shows you her drawing of an angel with a dress covered in painting

“I drew you as an angel because you’re always so nice and never judge anyone and always try to do good, the painting on the dress symbolizes how you are different from others and how you are creative and out of the box in contradiction to the image of the angel all perfect and dressed in white! I thought it’d be a good way to represent you since you came into my life sorta like a blessing or an angel and we got together through art...”

you were blushing at this point

you smiled whole heartedly

this made a blush make its way into her face too

“o-ok, your turn!!!”

“oh yes!!! uhm,, I drew two planets to represent our friendship since we seem to be so different and be from completely different worlds, but they are smiling at each to show how we got together and love each other besides the distance”

“that’s so sweet omg” she gave you a small smile “b-but, do you actually think we’re that different and distant?”

“what do you mean?”

“ the planets, you said they represent us because we’re from completely different worlds but... I never found us that different you know? and the planets.... they’re smiling at each other but still have so much space separating them, do you think we’re that far from each other...?”

“I... never thought of it that way..... I 100% didn’t mean it that way... I don’t think we’re distant, I actually feel like you’ve got to a place in me that no one else ever did.... but I always saw your reality as something so different from my own and meeting your friends, for example, made me realize it you know??”

“you... you d-don’t like them?”

she looked so sad as she said it, her eyes on the table and not on you and her stutter just made it all more obvious

“of course I do! but I’ve never been with someone like you and them, you are so unique and different from anything I’ve seen before... and I’m glad I got the chance to meet you and see your way of viewing things, but I still somehow feel like I don’t belong with you and them you know?”

“I see......”

she was still looking down, and she kept herself that way until the bell rung

when you were already heading to the exit of the class you hear her

“Y/n!!”

you turn around to see chaeyoung, this time facing you

“you said you felt like you didn’t belong with us, but.... I want to show you you do!”

“what do you mean?”

“would you mind coming with me after lunch tomorrow?”

“sure, but where?”

“you’ll understand better later! I promise!”

so the next day you couldn’t stop thinking about what was going to happen

you were nervous alright! you didn’t even know if anyone else was coming or if it was going to be just the two of you

you didn’t even know where you were going

so when chaeyoung meets you at the door of the canteen aLONE and takes your hand you’re just—

shaking

you’re shaking a lot

and she noticed it, but didn’t say anything to not make you uncomfortable

instead she just smiled your way and kept walking somewhere

you crossed streets and walked a lot to the point when your legs even hurt

and then she stops on start of a random narrow street

“we’re here!!” she says proudly

“where are we exactly?”

“well,,, I don’t know exactly but I usually come here with the dudes”

she starts walking through the street

“and as you can see, we like to leave marks of our presence”

you start following her and looking at the walls

you were shocked

they were covered in some random phrases (inside jokes within the group you suppose) and paintings

and when you start getting to the end of the street you see it

it’s a big drawing of you, with cat ears

damn they really couldn’t let the furry thing go away could they?

chaeyoung caught you staring at it and stands next to you

“that one... is my painting, I did it and if I’m being honest I never even thought you’d see it”

“it’s amazing! you’re so talented chae!!!”

she looked down and smiled to herself

“it’s easy to do a beautiful piece when the model is as beautiful as one can be”

you blush, it was already something usual when you were around her

chaeyoung was amazing in so many ways, she was talented and nice and pretty and funny and oh god

you turn to her to face a more serious chae

“be a part of my world, please”

“w-what do you mean with that?”

“whatever it may mean, just be a part of me, see every side of my life you could see, let our planets collide and become one, let me hold you into my harms and never let go, let me give you my heart and give me yours”

you’re unsure of what to say

you knew damn well how you felt about chaeyoung, but having her stare so directly into your eyes and saying those words

“I’d love to be a part of your world chaeyoung”

with those words chaeyoung’s seriousness breaks into a warm smile before taking you in a tight hug

she looks you in the face for one second, admiring every detail of you, before getting closer and leaning for a kiss

you wanted to kiss her for so long, and so did her

you waited so long for your lips to finally meet and now? now you’re sure she’s a part of your world

in fact, you’d say she is your world

and you couldn’t be happier with that
