“Who ate it?”

Maria looked back from the kitchen, tossing eggs over in the sizzling butter, Monica swung her legs under the table as she glanced up from her tablet in confusion.

“Ate what, mom?” Her eyes were round and doe but they couldn't fool you, so you took a chair next to her and presented a smile.

“You know I had a king sized Hershey chocolate bar in the freezer and now it's gone, did you eat it?”

“I would've tried if I knew you got one” the response sounded truthful so you nodded your head and walked up to your wife, humming a random tune and purposely ignoring your presence behind her back.

“Baby,” She looked back with an innocent smile.

“Hey honey, how'd you sleep?” you chuckled setting your elbow on the counter.

“Well, you?”

“Great!” Her spatula worked faster than before in the pan, eyes flickering over the bacon too many times.

“Mhm, how's my chocolate bar.” Monica burst into laughter at the dining table as she watched her mom sputtered for words and turn all the heats on the stove down low. She had to run, sprint, as far as she could

“Honey, I'm sorry, I was just really hungry one night, sleep walking maybe?” she backed up as you stalked closer with your hands on your hips.

“Uh huh”

“Sweetheart it was late and I wanted a snack, let this slide-” she interrupted herself with her own laughter as she had one hand out and the other on the screen door. When you just stared at her she made a run for it, adrenaline rushing her along yards of grass. You ran right behind her following her silly zig zag and circle patterns. Maria looked back at you screaming, “DONT USE NO FANCY POWERS!”

“STOP RUNNING THEN!” She groaned and gave up ready for you to tackle her to the ground, but it never came. Then she blinked her eyes open and looked around, screaming again when you appeared beside her.

“Wanna fly?”

“Freak, you scared me!?” she whispered.

“Get on” you kneeled down in front of her and felt her slowly get on your back.

“Go slow, you hear me?” You chuckled “I hear you” and began to lift your bodies off the ground, flying around. Monica ran out outside, squealing at the magical sight.

“I WANNA DO THAT!”

“NO MA'AM.” Maria warned eight from the ground.

“Mom.. ”

You winked at Monica and mouthed something she was able to catch before she nodded and skipped back into the house.
