Serious question - do people actually hate Catradora?
Like. Their hate is so comical sometimes that it feels unreal. "Catra was an abusive child at six years old! She attacked poor innocent Octavia who's never done anything wrong in her life obviously!" That can not be a real criticism. It's one thing to say she was abusive toward Adora (i.e. the scratch in the flashback of Corridors, which is also a stupid example), but to say she was abusive to a grown-ass adult who was close enough for Catra's tiny arms to reach her eye in the first place? Give me a god damn break.
Or apparently Catra is selfish for asking Adora not to die at the end of the show? She was being manipulative and guilt tripping Adora into not sacrificing her life to save the world? Are you kidding me?
May I propose - you don't actually hate Catradora, you just hate seeing other people enjoy it, so you go through the show and find the most unforgiving reading of a scene then use it to spin a narrative so you can rain on everyone's parade because they're enjoying something you don't enjoy and therefore they're wrong.

What spop antis say vs what spop stans hear
Spop antis: Catra does deserve redemption, love, and a happy ending, but it should've had better pacing, started sooner, and should've been away from people she hurt.
What spop stans hear: I'm racist, homophobic, and ableist. I HATE woc and abuse victims, abuse victims do NOT DESERVE HAPPY ENDINGS Catra is a HORRIBLE PERSON and I want her DEAD

My stupid opinion that will get me killed by the entire She-Ra fandom
Shadow Weaver had a better redemption arc than C4tra
Yes, I know that Shadow wasn't fully redeemed, was terrible, and never apologized for her actions. But at least she was useful and helped the rebellion, unlike C4tra who was just getting in everyone's way. Shadow had many chances to betray the rebellion but she didn't meanwhile C4tra (who committed more and worse crimes than Shadow) would probably betray them all if someone offered her greater power because she only joined the rebellion when it was her only chance of survival despite being offered to join them many times before. And while C4tra did say she was sorry she never properly apologized for everything she did (like killing Angela and almost destroying the universe) and her apology always felt like she was just trying to earn sympathy from others. And she continued treating everyone horribly even after that. Shadow Weaver stayed loyal to the rebellion until the very end and even died for them, I know many people say that she only killed herself to traumatize C4tra, but the only proof of that they have is the "You're welcome" and it still can be argued what she meant by that (In my opinion it was "You're Welcome, now that I'm dead I won't bother you anymore" I'm not gonna explain why I think that here because this post is not about that). Shadow was the one who found a way to stop Horde Prime and did everything to make sure it worked, meanwhile, C4tra was being a nuisance and a distraction just so she could be with Adora and didn't care that the world might get destroyed because of it. She tried to stop Adora from taking the failsafe even though Adora was the only person who could survive it and got angry when Adora chose to save the world first instead of making out with her. Just to be clear I'm not talking about who was a morally better person, but who made up for their actions more.
In conclusion: Actions speak louder than words, Shadow Weaver was useful to the rebellion while C4tra was not.

for instance i feel like a valid criticism of she ra is that it uses its war as a narrative backdrop that it doesn't take seriously or flesh out very deeply. which doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the show (because the show is not "about" the war!!) but it exposes cracks in the writing from time to time. however saying that, this is a show intended for children and teens to teach them about love and self worth and queerness so I think it's really up to each viewer how seriously they wanna take the war aspect given it never intended to go that deeply into the concept.
apparently some people wanted to take that aspect very very seriously!! and thats okay because critical thinking about a text is a good skill to have!! yay for sure!!

"She-ra basically queerbaited us until the end and most characters sexualities are confirmed off screen" bro there is literally no heteronormativity in the spop universe and literally nobody has to come out. Also queer characters can just exist and dont need a lover to confirm their queerness. For example perfuma was clearly wlw but she never had to state it and didnt have to get a gf to show that and same goes for every other character. Representation isnt just a same sex couple kissing and characters stating that theyre gay or bi or whatever, they can just exist without saying anything and people can pick up on who/what they are based on how they act just like you dont need straight characters to say theyre straight.

It's not the most important thing going on right now but I've been kinda having catradora brainrot the last couple days, and it helps sometimes. Whatever value there is in examining relationships in fiction and talk about normalization or whatever, I think one thing a lot of these pearl-clutchers who hate catradora with such a passion are very much missing is how very much a fuckup Adora is. I'm not saying she isn't a victim, I'm not saying Catra isn't a victim herself for that matter, I'm just saying that Adora's fucked-upedness is more socially acceptable because it's more pliant. She thinks she's without value unless she's She-Ra, and that fucks her up bad; especially since it's reinforced by Brightmoon all falling in love with her only, and I mean only, as She-Ra. Adora is a danger, a menace, and should be discarded. She must perform She-Raness constantly, and be everything they expect her to be, or else she is... unwelcome. Honestly, it's kinda like Ikari Shinji. I wouldn't bother bringing it up except I see it in real life. If one party is consistently more pliable because the way they were fucked up makes them unable to set boundaries or conditions, people love that person, but the person who is fucked up in a way that makes them angry or scared or scary is a menace, a terror, a monster. And god knows some of us could do better, and god knows I work on myself, but that inability to set boundaries, that feeling of worthlessness, that dangerous conformity... That's fucked up too. It's not better. I want to shake these pearl-clutching twits by the shoulders and yell at them "IT'S NOT BETTER." It's fiction. I'm neither condemning nor apologizing for anybody. That part's just not that fucking important. But this does mirror real life: if someone is the kind of fucked up where they're compliant and do everything you tell them to, that's not better.

Controversial She Ra take: as much as I liked the show, catradora is unrealistic. I'll explain this shortly, might make a longer post about this later.
Catra has always been very abusive towards not only Adora and her friends, but literally everyone else she has ever met. According to the show Catra "turned good" towards the ending, but it's not realistic for anyone to stop their abusive behavior just like that, especially not for Catra. Let's not forget Catra's a literal war criminal. I would've found it much more interesting if Adora learned how to deal with her feelings for Catra in a healthy way, without them ending up together.
Btw I have no issue with catradora shippers, I'm just criticising the show. It's not a huge issue but it's been bugging me for a while.

The fact that the characters of Season 5 She-Ra are handled so badly, it makes me hate the Season 5 poster even more.
The characters could have called Catra out for her actions, but no.
It's almost like a different show compared to Seasons 1 to 4.

Catra and Stolas ran, tripped, and fell flat on their face when trying to make a horrible person sympathetic, so Rick and Bojack could run.

Spop fans: *Call entrapdak and castaweaver p*dophile ships because of the age difference, even though the characters are adults*
Also Spop fans: *Sexualize 17-year-olds and say it's ok because they are fictional*
