Akane Owari VS Chie Satonaka [Danganronpa Survivor VS Persona 4]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hifumi: Akane Owari, the energetic Ultimate Gymnast with a Fiery Temper!
Tumblr media
Leona: Chie Satonaka, the Spunky Dragon with Deadly Legs!
Hifumi: Both had an appetite for juicy meat, but both have MORE of an appetite for a hella-good scrap! But the question is which one of them is gonna come out on top!?
Leona: He's Hifumi and I'm Leona!
Hifumi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, talents and skills, to see who will win a DEATH BATTLE!
Tumblr media
Leona: Ok, let's just get this over with...Blah blah blah Ultimate Talents blah blah blah Hope's Peak blah blah-
Hifumi: Hey! I know we end up having to repeat the same things, but you need to get used to it! Besides, you're not the one who has to say it.
Leona: Well, just get on with it. Give us the quick version.
Hifumi: I'm afraid I can't do that. See, there are actually a few differences with this combatant than with our last two. But as for what you already know, Hope's Peak Academy was a prestigious school that only allowed the best to enroll in it. But in an attempt to use these students to create Ultimate Hope for the Future, the academy and it's student body were infiltrated by the Ultimate Despair, Junko Enoshima, and her sister Mukuro Ikusaba.
Leona: Yeah, we know all this. Revolutions, violence, war, destruction, ever horrible thing you could ever possibly imagined followed Enoshima's plot.
Hifumi: But what we HAVEN'T mentioned up until now, is that besides Mukuro Ikusaba, Junko Enoshima didn't act alone in achieving her world-level destruction. By brainwashing the 77th Class of Ultimate Students, and showing them the tragic death of their most beloved classmate, Junko turned them into the group that we now know as the Remnants of Despair.
Leona: If I remember correctly, the Remnants went about causing destruction and despair of all kinds, making life a hellish nightmare for everyone until they were all captured by the Future Foundation. Then they were put in some kind of...virtual reality or whatever?
Hifumi: A virtual realm known as the Neo World Program, designed from the basis of Mr Fujisaki's research. A replica of the previously famous resort location, Jabberwock Island, was created, and the 77th Class were placed inside this virtual realm, with their memories being reset. The goal was to rehabilitate them; to reset them to how they were before Junko took their lives away. However, things took a drastic turn for the worst when Junko Enoshima herself returned, hacked the program, and kickstarted her twisted Killing Game all over again!
Leona: Didn't Junko...die though?
Hifumi: Yes. It was actually an AI copy of Junko Enoshima that was hacked into the program, infiltrated the code, and once again, took the form of Monokuma to host her second Killing Game. If things had gone to plan, she would have been able to take over the bodies of her old Remnant allies and turn them into her. "Operation Junko-fy All Mankind" as she called it.
Leona: It just gets worse!
Hifumi: That it does. Of course, the one who put her in the system was Izuru Kamukura, and that same Kamukura, after remembering his previous life as Hajime Hinata, was able to boot her out again! Alongside Mr Hinata though, there were four others who were able to survive the deadly game right until the end. Sonia Nevermind, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, Kazuichi Soda and...
Leona: Akane Owari!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Ms Owari is, to be frank, a little thick-headed. She lives life on passion alone, doesn't really think about things, nor really does she understand most basic principles. However, she's a thoroughly charming woman with headstrong morals and a kind heart!
Leona: And she has MASSIVE TITS!
Hifumi: I...won't comment on that...
Leona: Aw, c'mon Fumi! I've seen those cutouts in your room! You've got a thing for knockers, don't you!
Hifumi: Not if they're bouncing in my face in 3D form! Behind a screen is fine!
Leona: Alright, well, anyway, due to her fiery personality and love for strength and fighting, Akane quickly established herself as one of the muscles of the group, besides the likes of her classmates, Nekomaru Nidai and Peko Pekoyama.
Hifumi: This is most likely due to her fairly rough upbringing. It's widely unknown even to the Future Foundation where her family lived originally, but Ms Owari's family includes multiple younger and older brothers and sisters and they're not very well off. In her own words, it wasn't uncommon to wake up and find a dead body in the trash, and due to her lack of prior education, she struggles to learn basic things like names and numbers. Despite all that, Ms Owari caught the attention of Hope's Peak Academy for her skills with parkour, and her overall incredible agility.
Leona: Akane was inducted into the 77th Class as the Ultimate Gymnast. But...when I usually think of gymnasts, I usually think of people who dance gracefully around a stage with ribbons...Not whatever this battle hungry maniac is supposed to be.
Hifumi: It is indeed true that Ms Owari might be the furthest thing from your standard gymnast, but her skills speak for themselves. She's certainly agile and possesses enough stamina to pull complicated moves and techniques off. So much so that she's capable of sparring with overpowered people like Nekomaru Nidai, who also trained her to be a better fighter, as well as Sakura Ogami.
Leona: Wait, that happened in Danganronpa Summer Camp! Are we allowed to count that? It's not canon!
Hifumi: True, but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. There aren't really any dramatic changes in power between the spinoff and the main series, so Ms Owari, Mr Nidai and Ms Ogami would be the relative strength they were during their academic years. Plus, Danganronpa S also reveals that the program doesn't change a person's physical condition, strength or speed, and assuming this fits in line with the program of Danganronpa 2, it's important to keep this in mind.
Leona: Fair enough...In that case, Sakura actually states in that game that if she were to ever stop training, it wouldn't be long before Akane surpassed her. And given that Akane shares a feat with Sakura in being able to survive an encounter with Monokuma and match him blow for blow, this might very well be the case.
Hifumi: Well...Yes and no. There are a few caveats we need to keep in mind with that feat.
Leona: Like what?
Hifumi: First of all, it's unclear what the strength difference is between Hope's Peak Monokuma and Jabberwock Island Monokuma, but it's heavily implied due to the nature of the digital world, the latter is stronger, and the only reason Ms Owari survived that encounter is because Monokuma was toying with her and her hotheadedness that made her want to challenge him in the first place. However, the fact that she survived relatively unscathed is indeed an accomplishment, even though it's implied that she was injured.
Leona: In fact, most of Akane's feats are exactly this. Despite how she's a relatively skinny thing and not packing nearly as much muscle as Sakura, Akane's biggest asset, besides her...y'know...is her abnormal defense!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Right! Not only did Ms Owari survive that encounter with Monokuma, her introduction scene in Danganronpa 3 paints this defense in a bright light. Nekomaru Nidai attacks her with enough force that it causes 3 explosions the SIZE OF THE ACADEMY BUILDING!
Leona: So let's do a couple calculations here. The main campus of Hope's Peak Academy is stated to be " approximately the size of four regular high-schools." The average size of a public high school is around 129,000 cubic feet, though these are just averages, and actual school building sizes can vary greatly.
Hifumi: But assuming the average is correct, that would give Hope's Peak's building a total measure of around 516,000 cubic feet. With our calculations, taking the power of one explosion then multiplying it by three, the total power of these explosions is, in the very least, around 12 Kilograms of TNT.
Leona: Speaking of Nekomaru, he and Akane have a pretty strong bond, and it's thanks to him that Akane knows a fair few techniques for fighting...even if they are fairly limited. They've sparred with one another on multiple occasions, and every time Nekomaru beats her up, Akane gets back up again real quick, raring to go another round!
Hifumi: Besides the incredible strength we mentioned just now, Mr Nidai is also, supposedly according to Mr Hanamura, able to kill a cow with his bare hands, tore the head off a giant robot, and took a bazooka head on just to protect the Gymnast. Yes, that killed him, but his body was only slightly bleeding, instead of having been blown to smithereens.
Leona: In what matches we've seen from then, one of them had them fight with so much force that it completely demolished the 77th Class's homeroom, and blew a giant hole in the wall, and Akane was also cratered into the wall and just got right back up again. In the other, Nekomaru lands a deadly punch straight to Akane's stomach, and it downs her for a minute at most.
Hifumi: Ms Owari, as she is now, is also more than capable of dishing out damage just as much as she can take it. If we scale her with other characters in the DR universe, she's most assuredly on the same level of strength as the likes of Mr Nidai, and in most materials, she's capable of launching people into the air with her punches, and in the Comic Anthology, accidentally breaks Ms Hiyoko Saionji's spine by simply pulling on the sash of her kimono.
Leona: And due to her gymnastics, stamina and athletic ability, is possibly faster than people like Genocide Jill, who is capable of dodging lightning. She climbed the Hope's Peak school building in a matter of seconds, ran so fast past Teruteru it created a force that spun him around, and then proceeded to catch knives in her teeth! In addition, her vitality and inner strength is so strong, as a Remnant of Despair, she didn't eat for what we assume is between 2-3 years and DIDN'T DIE OF STARVATION!(based on the supposed timeline of the Killing Games, with Danganronpa 2 taking place 1 year after Danganronpa 1, by which point the tragedy and the Remnants would have been around for 2 or so years)
Hifumi: Plus, Mr Nidai states that Ms Owari is faster than any athlete he's ever seen. And as the  Ultimate Team Manager, he's has trained countless sports teams and track athletes, so a claim like this from him is a big deal! And this isn't even mentioning what is arguably her most impressive display of power so far...Her fight with Nagito Komaeda.
Leona: Now I know what you're all thinking... "Nagito's a frail wimp! And Akane almost strangled him to death in DR2! Of course she would win a fight against him!" But we're not talking about THAT Nagito Komaeda. We're talking about Nagito Komaeda from SURVIVOR, who thanks to Organization Zetsubou, took the Hope Serum and became a monster with unlimited talents, becoming an Ultimate Hope himself.
Hifumi: Granted, Ms Owari ended up losing that fight and her spine along with it, since Komaeda hadn't really awoken to his true latent abilities until that fight reached it's conclusion. However, even if we assume that Nagito Komaeda fought at around half the power of Hajime Hinata at that time, it's still an INCREDIBLE feat, especially since she was able to do significant damage AND outpace him!
Leona: AMD Especially since Hajime DID lost to Nagito in the fight they had just before that arc, even if he was massively holding back. Assuming Izuru Kamukura can reach the same relativistic speed as the likes of Mukuro Ikusaba, and Nagito at that time was half that, that's still speeds of around Mach 10!
Hifumi: And she was able to punch his sickly body so hard, he hurtled and smashed through several stone pillars! This feat most certainly puts her on the same level as Mr Nidai's explosion feat. In fact, if we scale this feat similarly to Mr Naegi's concrete wall punching feats from our first battle, the energy required to smash Komaeda through one of these pillars is around 31.572 grams of TNT. And based on the number of crashes, we can surmise that he flew through a total of 12 pillars, effectively increasing that feat of strength to 378.864 grams of TNT, or at least a little under it!
Tumblr media
Leona: In addition to all these amazing abilities, Akane herself possesses some traits unique to herself. It may have to do with her upbringing, but Akane has some very animal-like abilities, including sensitive ears, a bloodhound's sense of smell, and a natural danger instinct that allows her to sniff out powerful opponents. In fact, since we apparently are counting DRS and UTDP, she very almost figured out Mukuro Ikusaba's true identity by sniffing out her dangerous soldier aura...Too bad she rarely ever knows what to do with that information.
Hifumi: It's no secret that Ms Owari isn't very smart. As I mentioned before, she lives almost entirely off of passion and relies on her gut instinct. Because of this, she rarely ever has a plan and jumps into fights that she really can't win, and rarely does she think things through, come up with calculated battle plans, and she doesn't really have a unique fighting style, even with the one's Nekomaru taught her. It's part of this reason why she has such a terrible win : lose ratio compared to every other capable fighter we know.
Leona: Who cares? Neither does Kuripa, and we know how busted he is.
Hifumi: A very valid point! We will talk more about that when we get to his episode in a future season!
Leona: However, even if she is one to just fight with her fists and think with them to, it's not like Akane doesn't have her own unique equipment she can use to give herself the edge.
Hifumi: Indeed. Danganronpa 3 implies that eating food, specifically freshly prepared meat, not only increases Ms Owari's strength but restores her vitality too. Kind of like how food in RPG's does. And failing that, she also possesses a secret weapon...A Special Enhancement drug developed by Ms Seiko Kimura and Mr Teruteru Hanamura.
Leona: You're telling me she's got a final form!?
Hifumi: That she does! This is what's known as Doping Corn Soup. Granted, she's only used it twice, and both times have proved the serum puts her strength on a level either equal or above that of Mr Nidai's. Now, keeping in mind that Ms Owari DIDN'T use this during her scrap with Komaeda, and pulled off her multiple pillar feat without it. If we were to add that sort of power to the feats that she's already shown, can you imagine just how capable she could be?
Leona: Nekomaru, as a reminder, ALSO battled Nagito AFTER Akane, when he was at a higher level of power, and was able to hold out for a similar length of time. See what we were saying about him earlier for other feats of strength that Akane can now not only match, but possibly overpower. As a side effect, the soup also clearly heats up her bodies base temperature, as when she uses it for the first time in DR3, steam comes off her body in room temperature.
Hifumi: So yes...While Akane Owari may be a meat-loving meathead who's hungry for battle, and reckless to a fault, she indeed has the sheer power and capability to back up her bold claims. While once an enemy of the Future Foundation, one thing is clear now more than ever. We're happy to have her!
Tumblr media
Leona: Shadows. According to Jungian psychological studies, they are innermost thoughts of man; specifically parts one would keep to themselves, and personalities one would wear as a mask to hide their true self.
Hifumi: That was oddly inquisitive of you...
Leona: Well, I know this because of the importance of these studies in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona.
Hifumi: You know, I think that might be the first time I've heard someone call Persona a Shin Megami Tensei game in a while.
Leona: It ain't what it used to be. But back in the days of Persona 4, we were riding that hype train baby! But anyway, in the world of Persona, there are certain people who can take the power of these dark sides of themselves, and use them to help them fight in other worlds, combating the evil Shadows and upholding truth and justice in their universe! One of these groups is the Inaba Investigation Team!
Hifumi: In order to more properly become stronger, one must identify their own weaknesses and improve upon them. For the Investigation Team, this was taken into a very literal sense, by confronting beings made of the worst parts of themselves, and accepting them for who they are. Alongside those like the clumsy Yosuke Hanamura and the elegant Yukiko Amagi, one of the roughest and toughest members of this quirky group, is Ms Chie Satonaka!
Tumblr media
Leona: At face value, Chie is your average short-haired, hyperactive tomboy. She watches kung-fu movies, chows down meat like a hungry lion, and regularly kicks delinquents in the balls for bothering her bestie...and Yosuke...a lot actually...For no real reason...
Hifumi: Living in the laid-back and easygoing town of Inaba, her life was fairly uneventful and with not much excitement...That is until Yu showed up.
Leona: Me?
Hifumi: No, not YOU! Yu, as in Y-U Narukami.
Leona: What a confusing name.
Hifumi: Anyone else could easily say the same thing about Hifumi or Leona.
Leona: Persona has a Hifumi too! And she's way hotter than you!
Hifumi: First of all...rude...Secondly...true?
Leona: On Yu's first day at Yasogami High, he was on a tour of the town with Chie and Yukiko, when the trio suddenly came across the scene of a crime, where a dead body had been found hanging from some telephone poles!
Hifumi: At the same time, rumors were going round about a mysterious phenomenon called the Midnight Channel, in which staring into a TV while it was turned off at midnight while it was raining would allow one to see one's soulmate. Narukami quickly found out that this was...partly true.
Leona: It wasn't your soulmate that appeared on the other side of the screen, but as Yu and co. discovered, it showed the image of whoever it was that was going to die next. Like when the channel showed the figure of Saki Konishi, and she turned up dead soon after. Just before this, Yu, Chie and Yosuke learned that Yu had the power to enter another world by traveling through a TV screen, filled with dangerous beings, which were these Shadows.
Hifumi: Fortunately, after they entered the TV for the second time in hopes of finding out the truth behind Konishi's death, Narukami and Hanamura, along with their new companion Teddie, a strange bear that lived in that other world, discovered they could wield the powers of Personas. Things unfortunately took a turn for the worst for Satonaka, when they found out that the next person to appear on the midnight channel was none other than her best friend, Yukiko Amagi.
Leona: Chie was...to put bluntly, a little upset, and ended up charging headfirst into the TV realm. This led to an encounter with her own Shadow, which she initially rejected, but then accepted after some soul searching, and once she did, she gained the power of the Persona herself, awakening to her spiritual guardian, Tomoe! Now, since we've gotten to this point, I have to ask. Throughout the course of the game, Chie's power evolves overtime, and as it does, her Persona gains new strength and new forms. So which one of Chie's Persona's are we going to be using for this fight?
Hifumi: Excellent question! As is the case with most party members in Persona 4 and 5, Satonaka's Persona has three evolutionary stages. The initial form is Tomoe, then that ascends into Suzuka-Gongen, and finally, Haraedo-no-Okami. For this battle, we will be giving Satonaka her initial Persona, Tomoe.
Leona: Aw, really!? We're gonna nerf her so heavily!? For shame Hifumi!
Hifumi: Now hold on a moment, there IS a good reason for this. Unlike the Persona 3 characters, such as Mitsuru Kirijo or Akihiko Sanada, Suzuka-Gongen and Haraedo-no-Okami are OPTIONAL forms that are unlocked by completing Satonaka's social link, whereas for those two, it was a mandatory evolution that carries on throughout the games. Additionally, the only iteration of Persona 4's franchise where Chie's Persona ascends to the level above is Persona 4 The Animation, and she doesn't do so until the fight with Ameno-Sagiri. In sequel chapters/games like Arena and Dancing, Satonaka continues to use Tomoe as her primary Persona, so we do have to take that into account. However, as to not dumb down her abilities, even if her Persona takes base form we WILL be giving her all of her ascended Persona's abilities, like the immunity to ice and Dragon Hustle.
Leona: Ok good. At least we got that cleared up. Anyway, now that she had the power to fight, Chie used her newfound abilities to help Yukiko do the same as she did; come to terms with her own Shadow, and together, they, as well as Yu and Yosuke, formed the Investigation Team with the goal of tracking down the dirty bastard that was killing everyone and kicking plenty of Shadow ass along the way...Huh...You know, it was on the tip of my tongue the whole time, but she really reminds me of Maya.
Hifumi: She really is similar to Ms Canzanilla now that you mention it...in the good AND the bad way...
Leona: What's that supposed to mean?
Hifumi: N-Never mind...Forget I said anything. What sets Ms Satonaka apart from the other members of her team is she's the only one who doesn't really use any sort of weapon, not even a steel chair like Tatsumi or a fan like Amagi. Instead, she relies on her own raw strength, and her mighty, and fine legs.
Leona: Don't be simping on main Fumi.
Hifumi: I'm just quoting the show!
Tumblr media
Leona: Yeah, but seriously, from watching all those action-packed kung-fu movies, Chie learned how to really stick it to the Shadows, mostly with her powerful kicking abilities. For some extra oomph, she can also equip special kinds of boots to increase her attack power; the most powerful of which are the Moses Sandals, which also raises her critical hit rate.
Hifumi: As for her Persona, Tomoe is armed with a double-ended polearm, which allows her to skewer and slice Satonaka's enemies. And not only that, because of the magical power of her Persona, Satonaka is also capable of cryokinesis...However, her own brand of this power is limited compared to other ice users like Kirijo, Teddie and Kitagawa.
Leona: Chie does start off as the party's resident ice user, but as time goes on, she starts to drift away from those kinds of attacks as Teddie ends up taking that spot, choosing instead to specialize in raw physical power. This includes moves such as God's Hand, which summons a super powerful fist strong enough to pound a Shadow so hard, it obliterates the ground beneath it, Agneyastra, which is kind of a less-powerful meteor shower but STILL a freaking meteor shower, and Mind Slice, which can fuck with an opponents mind and cause them to panic.
Hifumi: If the need arises, she also has access to light skills that allow her to instantly KO opponents, though this doesn't work on particularly powerful opponents like bosses. And even in the case these powerful physical blows aren't enough to take her opponent down, Satonaka can use abilities like Tarukaja, which raises her attack power, Rebellion, which increases her critical hit rate, and Counterstrike, which can reflect strong physical blows right back at her opponent.
Leona: And as we said before, at her max power, Chie can use her own signature move Dragon Hustle, which raises all of her stats, like her power, defense and speed. However, it should be noted that this doesn't last for very long. Three attacking turns at least.
Hifumi: And assuming that a turn in combat is equal to a minute in real time, that would mean each effect lasts only 3 minutes.
Leona: The Persona has a few other weaknesses as well. For example, even though it is a spirit, it can still be hurt by regular attacks, and if it takes too much damage, it can break, and thus becomes unusable for a short time. Also, since Tomoe is a part of Chie's soul, any damage done to the Persona is reflected back on Chie herself as mental damage.
Hifumi: Also, using a Persona for too long induces this same break effect, and can tire out the user. Physical attacks drain health while magic attacks drain stamina. These can be replenished with spells and items.
Leona: However, these buffs would definitely last long enough to allow Chie to pull off her most extraordinary ability...the GALACTIC PUNT! A kick so powerful, it can send any opponent into the stratosphere!
Tumblr media
Hifumi: That...might be a bit of an exaggeration. Given how little is explained about the move, it's only been shown to send enemies flying off into the horizon. It's never outright stated that Satonaka's kick can send enemies to space. Even so, a kick like that must have a power level equal to or around 770,000 Newtons, or 166 Grams of TNT.
Leona: Ok, but what about bigger opponents that she's used the Punt on? Like Iron Tager or Blitztank?
Hifumi: Those, unfortunately, don't count. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle may feature Ms Satonaka's moves from the Arena games, but it's not canon to Persona 4's storyline. If it's canon anywhere, it's the BlazBlue storyline specifically, so we can't take that into account. She HAS launched Shadows bigger than her into the horizon, but it's hard to lock down an exact weight for some of these Shadows. Even then, they can't be that much heaver or durable than the Investigation Team are themselves for this to be possible, and it's not like she can use the Galactic Punt on Boss Shadows like the Reaper.
Leona: But she's beaten the Reaper, right?
Hifumi: Yes, and opponents just as strong, if not stronger, like Izanami or Ameno-Sagiri. However, we need to make it perfectly clear here that Satonaka did not defeat these foes by herself. Frankly, due to her own set of weaknesses, it's very unlikely that she could. For example, she lacks any definitive way to heal herself, and given her focus on physical attacks which drain her vitality, this isn't an ideal scenario.
Leona: Also, Chie may be one of the physically strongest members of her team, but that's really the only leg she has up on her teammates...pun surprisingly not intended. She is blindingly fast, being able to dodge fire and lightning attacks from Shadows and Personas alike, but she's nowhere near the fastest member of her team, as Yosuke and Yu have been show to outspeed most of her attacks. But her biggest flaw in her overall stat pool is her defense.
Hifumi: Satonaka is what we call a "glass cannon", a term used in roleplaying games, board games or video games to describe a character or unit with strong offensive power but weak defensive capabilities. Her most impressive feat of survival is being able to directly withstand flaming attacks from Shadow Yukiko, despite her and her Persona having a crippling weakness to fire, but aside from that, she hasn't shown to be very physically durable, and can be taken down easily by a strong enough enemy.
Leona: But defense or no defense, Chie's got more than enough firepower and willpower to take her opponents down one at a time. And with the aid of Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko and everyone else, she was able to become the hero the quiet town of Inaba needed, solving the murderous mystery, and living the rest of her life with her head held high...And it turns out she found her calling in dancing not soon after!
Hifumi: I still shudder to accept that Dancing All Night is canon...
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Alright, the combatants are set! Let's see which of our fighters comes out on top this time!
Leona: IT'S TIME FOR A DEEAAATH BAAATTLLLLLLEEE!
Tumblr media
The scene opens to a peaceful day on a quiet street. A young adult Chie Satonaka walks down the street with her hands in her pockets, minding her own business.
Chie: {Hums to the tune of I'll face myself} Hm HM hm~ Hm HM hm~ Hm HM hm-HMMMGH!?
She freezes, her eyes widen, and her body tenses up as something within the window catches her eye. Inside the butchers, a perfectly prepared cut of juicy meet lies on display. Her tongue sticks out and she starts drooling on the glass like a dog.
Chie: Oh my gosh...! So thick...! So fresh...! Oh I can almost taste it from here! I gotta have it...! Wait...
She checks her pocket to see how much cash she has in her wallet. Her eyes light up when she realizes she has spare change.
Chie: Yes!
She brazenly barges into the store with a sunlight smile on her face.
Chie: Hey, Boss! I'll be taking that-HUH!?
As Chie reaches out to grab the fresh meat, a girl of taller stature than her and long brown messy hair reaches out for it at the same time. They stare at each other, their hands twitching as they reach out for their shared prize.
Chie: Excuse me...But this is mine, thanks...
Akane: Hey, I was here first, shrimp...Wait in line.
Chie: Grrrgh! WAATCHAH!
Akane: GUHUGH!
youtube
Akane snatches the meat from Chie, who responds in kind by karate kicking Akane through the butchers window. With some of the meat still in hand, Akane crawls to her feet and glares the girl down, as Chie adopts a fighting stance.
Chie: How about this!? We battle, right here and now! Whoever wins gets that meat!
Akane: Oh buddy...You don't know what you just started...HRGH!
*RIP!*
Akane tears off her shirt and skirt to show her training outfit underneath it, and pounds her chest competitively.
Chie: ...
For a moment, Chie looks embarrassed down at her own lacking chest, but shakes off that shame and goes in for the first attack.
Chie: HYATCHA! WATATATATATATATATATATATATA!
Akane: MUDADADADADADADADADADADA!
Or rather the first several...Chie opens with a flurry of kicks, which Akane does her best to parry, though the speed of the girls attacks make it fairly difficult. Chie then lands and goes for more precise kicks, which slowly overwhelm the Ultimate Gymnast.
Chie: Aw, what's wrong big girl!? Can't keep up!?
Akane: Hrgh...Cut it out, you damn pest!
Chie: WAAGH!?
Akane grabs Chie's leg during one of her kicks and flings her over her shoulder, sending her flying back through the air. Chie skids along the ground, trying to retain her balance, and looks up fearfully as Akane rushes toward her at a superhuman speed, reeling up for a punch. However, a blue glowing tarot card appears in front of Chie in this dire moment, and knowing immediately what to do, she kicks it and breaks it.
Chie: Grr...TOMOE!
Tomoe appears above Chie and spins it's polearm, creating a blast of icy wind that hits Akane dead on. Her body slowly freezes over, slowing her down.
Akane: Gah...What the hell!?
Chie: Haha! Score 1 for...W-Wait!?
She suddenly whirls around to look up at Tomoe.
Chie: How am I doing that!? This is the real world, why is my Persona-?
Akane: HYAGH!
Chie: CHII! HAMAON!
Akane: Huh!? YAGH!
Having dropped her guard for a second, Chie is unprepared as Akane catches up to her, brushing off the ice and ramming into her head-first! Chie tries to activate her insta-kill bless skill, but Akane dodges it.
Chie: RAAGH!
Akane: Gegh! Agh! AHOOGH! OW! AGCCH! YAHOOO!
*SMAAASH!*
Chie quickly recovers despite the heavy blow, and chooses not to question things, as she and Tomoe start to combo Akane. Despite being able to hold a defensive stance until now, the duo of Persona and user overwhelm her pretty quickly. Tomoe spins it's weapon and smacks Akane so hard, she flies back and gets cratered into the side of a building.
Akane: Urgh...Not again...! H-Huh!?
Chie: Haha! HOPE YOU'RE READY!
Akane shakes off her fatigue quickly and looks up to see Tomoe and Chie readying an attack. A huge golden fist appears propelled by rocket fire, and flies straight towards her.
Akane: Ggrrgh...OMPH!
Akane takes the cuts of meat she was able to pull off earlier and stuffs them in her mouth. As soon as she swallows them, her eyes twinkle with excitement.
Akane: Hell yeah! LET'S GO!
*KABOOOOOOOOM!*
Akane: EAT THIS!
*SHATTER!*
Chie: Aaaagh!
Akane: DORYAAGH!
Chie: DAAGH!? OOF OOH ACK!
With the meat restoring her vitality and getting her on her feet faster, Akane is able to dodge out of the way of the God's Hand as it obliterates the wall behind her. She lunges into the air towards Tomoe and with one powerful swing, takes the Persona out! Chie collapses to her knees, clutching her head as the damage is reflected back onto her. Akane then lunges towards Chie and punches her in the jaw so hard, she skips along the ground like a stone on the water.
Akane: Fight me one on one like a man, cheater!
Chie: I'm not a man, moron! And neither are you! But alright...you asked for it...! HYUAGH!
Akane: YAGH!
Chie: WATCHAGH!
Akane: UHUGH!
Akane swipes at Chie with a sideways karate chop as the spunky dragon flies at her. She jumps over the chop and elbows Akane in the neck.
Chie: OOPH!
Akane spins around and kicks Chie in the mouth.
Akane: BLUAGH!
Chie lands on the ground, bounces back and haymaker's Akane's jaw.
Chie: GHUAGH!
Akane backflips, lunges forward and headbutts Chie in the face.
Akane: PHOOGH!
Chie kicks Akane in the stomach.
Chie: LEAGH!
Akane slaps Chie around the face.
Akane: AUUGH!?
Chie punches Akane in the...um..."assets"
Akane: BAHAGH!
Chie: BAHAGH!
Akane: AAUGH!
Chie: AAUGH!
Akane: UHUAGH!
Chie: UHUAGH!
Akane: DOOGH!
Chie: DOOGH!
And thus the cycle continues...Until the two kick each other in the face and spin backwards, distance being put between each other.
Akane: Man, Legs...You are hard to put down...!
Chie: Alright...That DOES it...! DRAGON'S FURY!
Akane: ...!?
Chie: AGNEYASTRA!
Akane: AGH! OOH! UHUGH! N-No fair! AGHCK!
Having now bought enough time for her Persona to reform, Chie summons Tomoe again, and the image of a long golden dragon surrounds Chie as she powers herself up with Dragon Hustle. The pressure emanating from her is immense to the point that Akane can feel it even from a distance, and is barely able to react in time as several small meteors come crashing down on top of her, destroying the road around her.
Chie: Hrugh!
Akane: Uh oh...!
Chie stretches out her legs, and Akane is unable to react in time when she rushes forward at an increased speed and drops down.
Chie: Galactic...PUNT!
Akane: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGH!
Akane is just about able to block Chie's ultimate move, but the force of the kick still rockets her up into the air.
Chie: Ok Tomoe...Let's finish this!
Tomoe holds out it's polearm and Chie stands on one end of it, letting her Persona fling her up into the air like a shotput.
Akane: (Ugh...This is bad...There's gotta be something I can...Huh?)
Akane tries her best to think of some kind of tactic, but reaches into her pocket and pulls out a bottle. Inside the bottle is a strange green mixture, and her eyebrows raise as she recognizes it.
Akane: Oh...yeah...I forgot I had this...Welp, no time like the present!
Chie: Huh?
Chie, now running up the wall of the skyscraper she smashed Akane into earlier to catch up with her, looks to see her opponent drinking a strange green fluid. She starts to panic as Akane's body grows in size; her muscles and veins bulge out, and her body starts to emanate something fierce.
Akane: HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHH!!!
Chie: Grr...TOMOE!
Tomoe blasts more ice at Akane with the intent of freezing her over, but this fails to do much due to the heat radiating off of Akane's bulky build. With an ear-to-ear smirk on her face, she crushes the bottle in her hands and smashes onto the side of the building, running back down it to clash with Chie.
Akane: This is it, coconut-head! YOU'RE GOIN' DOWN!
Chie: You mean YOU are, JERK! BEHOLD MY WRATH!
*BAM!* *WHACK!* *THUMP!* *POW!* *THUD!*
Akane: Agh! Dogh! Gagh! OHOGH! GRRGH!
Chie: Graggh! Ugh! Dagh! Gahagh! RAAAGH!
*SLAP!* *BOP!* *BONK!* *BANG!* *PING!* *NUU-WOM!*
Chie: HOOOOOAAAAAAAAAGGH!
Akane: KURRAAAAAAAAAAAAGGH!
Akane and Chie: HA-CHAAAAAAAAAGGH!
*CRACK!* *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!*
After repeatedly hitting each other with immensely powerful punches and kicks to the face and chest, scaling the building the whole time and destroying the area around them with the sheer force of their attacks, Chie and Akane reel back a kick and a punch respectively, and clash. The force of the clash causes the entire skyscraper to split completely in half! But then...
*Sizzle...*
*Crack!*
Akane and Chie: Huh!?
Simultaneously, both of them power down. Chie loses her stat buffs as Dragon Hustle wears off, and Akane's muscles slowly retract and her body begins to it's normal size and strength. The two are alarmed by their sudden power decrease, and then become unfortunately aware of just how high up they are, as well as the fact that they're suspended sideways in the air, and just destroyed their only footing
Chie: Oh...
Akane: Shit...
Akane and Chie: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!
And just like that, they PLUMMIT! Chie waves her arms wildly and Akane's eyes widen in horror as they fall a long, long, LONG way down!
Chie: Grrrgh! TOMOEEE!
Akane: !!??
Though running low on fuel, Chie summons Tomoe again to launch her just like before. Chie soars towards Akane and grabs her by the collar, reeling back for another powerful kick!
Chie: GALACTIC PUUUNNT!
Akane: NOT THIS TIME, KID!
Chie is horrified as Akane dodges her superpowered kick, and screams in agony as she elbows her knee and breaks her leg!
Akane: That ain't a punt...! THIS is a PUNT! HYAAAAAAAAGGHH!
Akane in turn, grabs Chie by the shirt, throws her upwards, and volleyball slams her back down to the ground with every ounce of strength she has! Chie flies so fast she smashes through the image of her own Persona and rockets to the ground like a meteor!
Chie: AAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGH-
*KRAAAKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!*
*SMASH!*
Akane: Hmph!
Akane steadies herself and safely lands on the ground, the road beneath her shattering apart. Behind her, a ginormous cloud of some erupts as a city block is destroyed from the impact of Chie's volleyballed body.
Akane: Haaagh...Haagh...Haah...Huh?
*SMACK!*
A severed arm slaps down in front of the Ultimate Gymnast, holding a wallet with slightly charred money poking out.
Akane: Haha! Yes! That meat is MINE! Come home to mamm-Hah!?
Akane snatches Chie's wallet and turns to head back to the butchers...only to realize that it, and the meat inside it, was enveloped by the explosion and burned to a crisp.
Akane: NOHOHOHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
Tumblr media
Leona: Now I know what you all must be thinking...Ahem... "WHAT!? HOW!? WHY!? WHAAAAAATT!?"
Hifumi: I know it sounds ridiculous, but-!
Leona: "ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW!?"
Hifumi: SHUSH! Hoo...Believe us, the results of this matchup were certainly a surprise! We all know Ms Akane Owari to be a rather foolhardy, not very delicate fighter, who flies headfirst into danger without really thinking about how outmatched she might be. And it's because of her mentality that she ends up falling short of victory more times than not...But THIS is NOT one of those times!
Leona: I think one of the main sources of confusion with the results is likely that people thought due to Chie's crazy mystical Persona-summoning powers, Tomoe was more than enough for her to score a victory, especially with it's ice powers and superpowered attacks, made stronger by how it can buff itself.
Hifumi: And that was indeed a legitimate possibility! If we were to run this match 100 times over, Satonaka would undoubtedly score quite a fair few victories, but based primarily on what the two fighters have been shown to be capable of, it's likely that Ms Owari can pull off the victory more times than not.
Tumblr media
Leona: To start with, their respective stat pools were actually pretty even on most fronts. Chie is fast enough to dodge magical fire and lightning attacks from the likes of Akihiko Sanada or Shadows that use lightning abilities. However, given that Akane's base speed and agility has been confirmed to surpass most athletes trained and managed by Nekomaru, it's probable that she can match or even outspeed those like Toko Fukawa and Mukuro Ikusaba, who are capable of almost the exact same feat. Even if it is still likely that Chie is faster based on how SHE scales with speedy characters like Yosuke and Naoto, Akane would still be agile enough to keep pace with her. In the very least, she would be more than fast enough to dodge Chie's insta-kill light skills.
Hifumi: Ms Owari also had no definitive way to take down Chie's Persona, Tomoe. Sure, she was definitely tough enough to destroy it, which would have mentally damaged Satonaka and left her vulnerable, but the Persona wouldn't have stayed down for very long, certainly not long enough for Ms Owari to find an opening because...she doesn't really do that...
Leona: However, even though one of them actually has a proper education, the same is true for Chie. In truth, she's actually not that much smarter than Akane, and she also has a track history of jumping headfirst into dangerous situations, where she could easily end up outmatched. In that regard, these two are the exact same.
Hifumi: Another thing to consider is power. Satonaka did indeed have some powerful physical attacks from both herself, like the Galactic Punt, and even more from her Persona like God's Hand and Agneyastra. However, in the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax manga, Satonaka uses God's Hand on Hanamura, and he's able to dodge out of the way of it; causing the fist to smash into the floor and shatter apart the tiles underneath it. In contrast, Ms Owari has punched someone THROUGH multiple solid pillars, and she didn't even need to buff herself up to do that. Her feat of strength is undeniably stronger!
Leona: Even in their base levels of power, Chie could always use buffing spells to power herself up and increase her chance of landing a killing blow. But Akane had basically the same thing on an equal or even greater level. In Danganronpa Survivor, the effects of the Doping Corn Soup don't last for very long, but they most certainly last longer than any of Chie's damage and speed buffs, including Dragon Hustle. Also, as far as Chie's ice powers go, if Akane can break through solid stone like ice...well...then she can break through ice like it's paper! That, and given that the Corn Soup clearly heats up her body in some kind of way, she could probably just MELT the ice if she decided to use it.
Hifumi: But the real key to victory lied in one thing in particular...Defense and survivability!
Leona: That's two things...
Hifumi: But they fall under the same umbrella! The most potent feat of survival that Persona users have shown to exhibit in the core series is the...as Boomstick originally called it, the "Oh shit, we're dead!" explosion from Persona 3. However, given that Persona 3 and 4 are set in different realities and rely on different logic, the survival feats of the Investigation Team can't accurately be scaled with that of S.E.E.S, besides perhaps their Persona abilities in the Arena series.
Leona: Chie has beaten the likes of Akihiko in fights before but only in her own route of the P4A story, not really in any core canon material. To be frank, like we said before, Chie being a glass cannon means that her feats of survival simply DO NOT COMPARE, to Akane.
Hifumi: Ms Owari has survived being punched straight in the stomach by Mr Nidai, tanked a building-level explosion that completely blows Satonaka's Galactic Punt out of the water, got right back up after being cratered into a wall, and was able to sustain fighting against Nagito Komaeda while he was at half his power, who went onto completely obliterate her spine, which she later completely recovered from.
Leona: While it is true that Chie has aided in fights against literal gods, that feat can primarily be attributed to the team, not just her strength. To be honest, considering Chie lacks any sort of way to heal herself, unlike Akane who could somewhat restore her vitality and boost her strength just by eating meat, it's unlike she even COULD beat the likes of Izanami and the Reaper on her own. This is made even worse when you think about how Akane's stamina is godlike, and Chie's gets exponentially drained every time she uses her Persona to attack. And to top it all off, believe it or not with Akane's fairly lazy attitude; even if it is by only a few hairs, Akane IS the more experienced fighter of the two of them!
Hifumi: Since their Hope's Peak days, Ms Owari has continued to receive advice and training from Mr Nidai, who has most famously trained top athletes and fighters on an ABOVE professional level. Sure, she's a slow learning student, but by comparison, all of what Satonaka knows about fighting comes from simply watching action movies. An impressive enough feat on it's own to replicate those moves, sure, but not enough when compared to someone who has literally been trained by the greatest trainer in the WORLD.
Leona: And yeah, sure, Chie does technically get SOME advice from Akihiko, but this happens AFTER she's already defeated a god with her team, and even then, Akihiko is more of a life coach than a combat coach.
Hifumi: Chie Satonaka may have been immensely strong, had a much wider arsenal of abilities, and could definitely compete with Akane Owari, but in the end, the Ultimate Gymnast's feats of strength and durability sent the spunky dragon back where she came from!
Leona: It was nothing "Persona-l" Chie, just know Akane Owari is the strongest person you could ever hope to "meat!"

THE WINNER IS AKANE OWARI!

You'd be hard strung to find a personal bodyguard better than these two, but will their personalities define your decision, or their strength? If it's the latter, then you'd best pay close attention!

001: Tokyo Ghoul and 003: Amon Koutarou? 🤔
Already did the first so here you go for amon!
How I feel about this character: He’s so normal. (affectionate) He has religious trauma and parental issues but don’t we all? Even after becoming a failed half-ghoul he retains the Just A Guy energy. I feel like I could find him in a Walmart looking through the egg aisle and inspecting them. This isn’t a bad thing I just think it’s funny that in this cast of absolute freaks the one decently rational if highly passionate character feels like an outlier.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I don’t really strongly ship him with anyone. Seiakimon is a nice pairing and I’ve read some good fics with them but oftentimes the intrigue is more in the individual characters rather than them as a couple. I could see him with a lot of people but none of them invoke strong opinions, I know I'm pretty neutral about ships in this fandom but moreso than most.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Takizawa, Akira, and Kureo all intrigue me for different reasons but I do like how he kept Takizawa going during their experimentation. Donato is fascinating to me but it’s not explored a lot. If I read a really good fic I might be swayed to this one, but I have to find the time to sit down, look for one, and read.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Turning him into a half ghoul is cool I suppose but it weakens the point he served in the story. Until towards the end of :re when they all set aside their differences, it kind of feels like the story’s saying in order to understand ghouls you need to become one or be in love with one, with Chie as the exception.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Other than that thing I mentioned I’m pretty happy with his arc, so just that he’d been a complete failure in the owl projects.
Favorite friendship for this character: Probably Kureo. The other two dwell more in the “it’s complicated” realm, and I just think they'd have a fun buddycop dynamic if one of them wasn't. You know. Dead.
My crossover ship: Still can’t think of anyone I’d actively ship him with even when not limited to a single universe but I’d like to put him and Wolfwood in a box because they’re vaguely similar but such opposites. I don’t think they’d fight but it’d be very awkward and one of them might get knocked out.

So I am playing Persona 4 Golden for the first time. Keep in mind that the only other Persona game I have played is Royal. Right now I just finished the first dungeon.
A few thoughts and encounters:
-Yosuke is actually pretty smart. Thought he was going to be the unintelligent comic relief righthand guy that flirts with girls stereotype. And he felt like he started off that way. Granted, I was going to love anyways because I tend to love the best friend, i.e. Ryuji. But as soon as he became my partner, he just sobered up? Real detective vibes? Taking charge instead of charging for the most part? My dude, I wanted him to be the leader when he asked but of course that NO button is a lie.
-I need one of those volume UI that lets you control the volume of each specific person because Chie really needs to be turned down. Like, she is even louder than the music, and this music is loud. She's like a commercial between shows, volume twice as high.
-What the fuck are these teachers?
-Why, Why, do you show me more club doors and I only get to join two? I mean, I was a band kid in highschool, but I would have loved to join the Home EC club.
-Speaking of Home EC, Nanako over here making breakfast and warming up dinner. I thought she was like 12 but wiki says she's 6-7. What?
-Oh. I see the 6-7 now. She won't stop with the Junes. Please stop.
-So do all the Persona mascots have a crush on a human team member? Teddie over here not knowing about the romantic stuff until it suddenly struck him. He literally meets Yukiko once and suddenly knew everything on that.
-It was probably the wine, but I spent five minutes laughing at that lady in the store. It wasn't because she resembled a Ghibli character. It wasn't the eyes. It was those tiny ass glasses that she had on the tip of her nose. How is she seeing? Even if they are for decoration they make no sense. What!
-This dude really selling weapons under the "art" label, huh?
-Lady, I do not know what the "Sub-menu button" is. Why do I keep running into you? I know who you are but I can't stop."
-"I won't let you go out this late" Well, screw you. That first night I got that notification that I could sneak out, all I did was stand right outside the front door to prove I can. Nanako over here being a real one not saying anything. That's what you get for not being home, Dojima. Your charges are partners in crime now.
-Tiny Glasses lady is doing Ghibli things. She's a witch. No other explanation.
-Y-you're telling me that the only way to get anything is by the Shuffle? Which is only activated when you do an All Out Attack. Which you have to kill the Shadow during said Attack? 😭😤😞 I miss Royal mechanics already.
-*Sobbing and raging at just the first dungeon because I only have 3 Personas because I can't fuse anything because I can't activate enough shuffles.*
Well, I guess this was more than a few. 😅 Let's see how the game progresses.
-It feels like ranking up attributes is taking forever. I'm still at level 1 in all of them.
-The concept of time is really screwed here. "Did you see her interview from a few days ago-?" You mean last night? Teddie moaning about being left alone and I'm like "Dude, it's barely been two weeks and you've been in this realm your whole life by yourself. Even Yosuke called him out on that. Stop trying to guilt trip us.

“We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ―Marianne Williamson

on one hand I’d love a WITCH live action, on the other hand I’m 100% sure they’d fuck it up and make it much more darker than it should be (like there’s serious themes in it but I mean gritty dark, also desaturated) and I want none of that in my life

Prologue
[Name]'s life had turned a 360° angle in a single night.
She was just the resident gen Z stuck in the middle of a pandemic taking online classes and when she thought 2020 wasn't going to get worse, it did.
It wasn't every day you get to be sucked up into another world after buying some groceries, hopefully, she wouldn't end up like Subaru from Re Zero.
Even just the thought of the shit she could potentially go through and only she would remember it after dying sent a shiver up her spine. She seemed to be blessed enough to be found and taken to safety at least.
And to think that she once dreamed of being "isekaid", that feverish wish came true in the most unexpected of times.
She didn't like it and wished she could curse who in the ever-loving fuck had put her in a world she thought lovely but fictional, she had a family in the real world. Oh wait, could her world even be considered real if the world of Teyvat, a supposed fictional realm was now her reality?
Oh, how she wished she could just punch the god in the face to give her answers as to why they'd grant a wish that was supposed to be nothing but a good joke, aside from giving her existential crisis now of course.
Her brows furrowed as she continuously wiped the wine glass dry, she shouldn't even be stuck in that head-stuck state- they had customers, Diluc would be mad if she were ever to make them wait without necessity.
"Lad! Another round here!" One of the regulars yelled, raising a hand up so she'd know which table she'd be serving again.
Placing the order on three trays, she managed to balance all of them on herself and served it to the man who called earlier. Receiving thanks, she headed back to the counter to continue cleaning cups for the incoming clients.
[Name] does pay attention, the new world she had been subjected to was dangerous. She already had the burden of carrying information she wasn't supposed to know, what more couldn't hurt?
She listened even as she rearranged the delicate glass cups to make a rather fancy display, listening in to things and keeping them in mind in case something were to happen.
She saw a familiar sleeve from her peripheral vision, so she placed the rag down and smiled. "Hello Venti, I'm assuming the regular?" It was the Bard, Lord Barbatos the god of freedom himself.
His emerald eyes glimmered as he flashed a mischievous grin in her direction. "Yes, and thy payment shall be performance." He winked.
She shook her head gently. "I'm afraid that won't be enough of a payment." She chuckled and held her palm out.
Venti pouted and reached for what little earning he got from performing and handed it over to her, smiling in satisfaction she received it. "All of it would be equal to eleven glasses." She had to hold back a snort as to how the bard cheered with the said amount he'd get.
She did end up giving him an extra glass in the end though as a form of sorry.
Hours later, she closed the tavern as per usual in the few days she had started working there. She silently thanked Barbatos for making Mondstadt windy since she could finally get a breather from the thick air the tavern could only provide earlier.
Giving the keys to Diluc who somehow managed to return earlier from one of his vendettas, [Name] graciously bowed and went along her way.
A month, that was how long she had been stuck in this world and counting. She breathed through her nose and exhaled before knocking in a certain rhythm only Klee or Albedo would remember, it was a code of some sort.
The door opened and she was greeted with the face of the chief alchemist. "You're late again, Klee was looking for you." He said and moved to let her in, she entered the house they shared and plopped down onto the couch.
"Is she asleep?" She asked while giving him a glance through her back the best that she could manage, the blonde nodded and closed the door behind him, locking it.
He was one of the few characters she was glad to befriend- if that was the right word, it did feel weird since she thought he didn't actually exist, merely a creation of someone's beautiful imagination.
Sometimes she wondered what kind of luck she had to be living with one of her favorite characters. Alice, Klee's mother had taken a liking to her upon finding her outside of Mondstadt and decided to take her in as she did with Albedo, since she left with her partner she eventually decided to just leave Klee in hers and Albedo's custody while she travels the world.
[Name] does still feel the remnants of the awkwardness in the first days she had been left with the alchemist- not that it ever disappeared, she used to be an only child so living with someone she probably has to call her stepbrother all of a sudden after being ripped off of everything was a little overwhelming. Alice probably knew this and decided to get them stuck together in the means of Klee.
"Drink." Speak of the devil, there he was holding a cup of warm concoction to help her with the obvious stress. And sometimes, she's not very sure if he's either doing it out of his own will or he's doing these things out of politeness, maybe the latter; it made sense for his character the most.
It did hurt a little to think about it though, but she supposed it's the reality she would have to face now and then the days to come after.
She groggily accepted the cup and drank it in one go before repositioning herself to sit down properly, the chilly night air of Mondstadt passing their windows and gently caressed delicate-looking curtains before gingerly touching their faces.
"The stars are awfully nice tonight, ain't it?" [Name] remarked, Albedo's beautiful eyes gave the stars outside a glance. There was an awkward strain in there, but neither of them uttered a single word about it.
"I agree, they seem to shine brighter than last night." He admitted before his eyes diverted back to her.
"We should sleep, you've been tired as of late." He said this in an unblinking fashion, despite it only being a two week equivalent of living with each other, it was enough to let her know it was his way of saying that he cares(?).
At least she hoped he did, there was nothing wrong with a little assumption.
They quietly made their way to Klee after they changed into sleepwear. They slipped under the warm sheets and laid on either side of the little girl, facing each other; sometimes it felt a little too intimate and personal but it somehow managed to feel strangely comforting.
She has no time to think about how surreal everything is, of the weight that's on her shoulders.
Needless to say, they slept peacefully. Leaving only the sounds of soft breathing and the night breeze as a trail.

“Adachi has been granted all this immense power by the shadow realm, it’s gonna be a tough battle” y’know what that’s true my Inaba teen friends but you’re forgetting Chie Satonaka.
Chie is A. the only person who can fight in the realm without weapons and uses KICKS ALONE and B. can literally one-hit KO shadows by punting them into the sun as her follow-up attack when everyone else at best does a bit of damage and knocks them down
the shadow realm may favor Adachi but considering it also made Chie become fucking Saitama I don’t think the squad ever had anything to worry about

If you take headcanon requests - got any for best girl Sayaka?
When Sayaka first met Haru, she’d been crying about something or another. It wasn’t important anymore now, of course. The thing about meeting Haru had been something entirely outside of Sayaka’s realm of experience. Instead of falling for her immediately, like she had for Touko, or slowly being won over, like she had been with Chie, Sayaka mostly wanted to befriend the poor girl.
And she did. They were pretty fast friends from then on. They began studying together. They lent each other books. Haru’s dry humor turned out to be a clear match for Sayaka’s subliminal sarcasm. Haru hadn’t called Sayaka “senpai” for months. They went to the movies together, and sometimes, they even went out to drink. Sayaka had never been a heavy drinker, but Haru turned out to be a real flyweight. One night, Sayaka even took her home, and let her sleep on her bed, while she took the spare futon. Haru just looked at her strangely in the morning. Sayaka didn’t think anything of it.
Towards Sayaka’s last year in uni, she rounded up all her courage and even told Haru one of her biggest secrets.
“I’m ... gay”, she said.
“Huh”, said Haru-chan.
“Huh?”
“Yeah.”
“Does this change anything between us?” Sayaka asked. Even though she’d never admit it, her past wouldn’t let her squash that little remainder of fear at the back of her mind.
“It doesn’t have to, if you don’t want to.”
“Huh.” Now it was Sayaka’s turn to be taken aback.
“You’re one of the most driven people I know. Scratch that. You’re the most ambitious person I know. If you want something, you usually find a way to get it. You know I am usually not the same. But I do want something right now.”
“I ... could help you get it?” Sayaka still didn’t quite follow, although the gears clearly were turning. If you were Haru-chan, you might be thinking cute at that expression.
“You’re actually in a position uniquely suited to get me what I want.”
“Are you trying to tell me what I think you’re telling me right now?!” Sayaka’s cheeks had reddened slightly, the more she caught on. Until suddenly, it was as if a switch had suddenly turned. After that, Haru didn’t even get to finish her answer.
“Why don’t you try- hmpphh.”
Sayaka couldn’t help but tear up, even though she was hard at work kissing her long-time friend senseless. After a while, in total reverse to how they met, Haru was holding a sniffling Sayaka against her. She couldn’t help herself.
“Now, I know I’m not the most experienced kisser, but to think I’m that ba-”
“Don’t even finish that sentence. Why did you never tell me you were gay, too?!”
“What makes you think I am?”
“Y- ... You just kissed a girl ... and you liked it? Right? You did like it?”
Haru couldn’t help but smile.
“I didn’t kiss any girl. I kissed you. And I think there’s still a lot of stuff I need to figure out.”
She paused.
“But yes. I did like it.”

NOTES: This one isn't going to be quite as in-depth or long as my P5 fic (and also a lot lighter in the plot department haha). Apologies for all the exposition within the first couple of pages. I always attempt to make the fic accessible for readers who don't know anything about the fandom if I can, but try to keep it short.
And for those of you waiting... don't get mad at me for not putting out very much Elsanna lately. I promise you, it IS coming. LOTS of it. I just have to have proper motivation or it will turn out not so great. Thank you for your patience!

                                                     CHAPTER ONE
None of this was right.
The spooky old castle seemed to press in on Chie Satonaka from all sides as she tore down hallway after hallway, the sound of her loafers echoing off the flagstones. Nevermind how bizarre it was that she was in another world — which she was never going to get used to, even if she came and went a thousand times — but her childhood companion and best friend in the whole world being in danger was more important. She didn't have the luxury of being thunderstruck.
Chie and her friends had gone back and forth so often about the Midnight Channel. Was it real? Was it a scam, a mere urban legend? Mass hallucination? Nobody outside of the sleepy little town of Inaba had ever heard of it, or seen it happen; purely a local paranormal phenomenon. As the story went, if you watched your television with its power turned off at midnight, during a rainstorm, you could see something. Some versions even claimed the person you saw on the screen was your soulmate.
However, that was where fantasy ended and grisly reality took over. The two previous instances had shown women that later turned up dead — and not just on TV. Their corpses hung upside down from power lines and rooftops. In this most recent case, they had all seen Yukiko Amagi in the TV — first as a blurry shadow, and now in vivid high definition.
If it really was Yukiko. That woman in the screen looked and sounded nothing like her best friend, even if it was her face and voice. The garish pink princess dress was so unlike her! Not to mention the obscene thirst for boys from such a timid, polite girl… Chie could remember each word with crystal clarity:
"Goooood evening! Tonight, Princess Yukiko has a big surprise! I'm gonna go score myself a hot stud! Welcome to 'Not A Dream, Not A Hoax; Princess Yukiko's Hunt For Her Prince Charming!' And I came prepared — I've got my lacy unmentionables on, stacked from top to bottom! I'm out to catch a whole harem, and the best of the lot is gonna be all mine! Well, here I gooooo!"
Every deranged syllable had come from someone else's mind. It had to be a sick joke! Still, there was no other explanation for where her best friend had gone. Unreachable by phone or email, and her parents didn't know where she was, either.
The other world was their only lead. And since Yu had previously shown her and Yosuke that they could actually go inside, as long as the screen was large enough to step through… that was that. Insane as it was, they had all jumped through a big screen TV into a parallel dimension to rescue their friend.
But staircase after staircase flashed past, rich red curtains and glittering chandeliers, with no sign of Yukiko. The shadows pulled at Chie from all sides exactly as the boys had described. Maybe it was her bright green-and-yellow windbreaker that caught their attention, or maybe it was that someone was invading their realm. She didn't belong in Yukiko's palace. Or at the very least, the shadows of the Midnight Channel thought she didn't, and probably were equally distrustful of the boys.
Speaking of which, where were they? She could have sworn both Yu and Yosuke were right behind her… and that weird red-and-blue bear thing, whatever his name was. They had tried to insist she stay behind because she was a girl, not strong enough to fight in spite of her kung fu training, and now they were the ones who couldn't keep up?! She almost wanted to turn back and give them a good kick in the-
"Chie told me that red looks good on me…"
The words nearly made Chie trip over her own feet and go down hard. "Yukiko?!" Where was it coming from? She turned this way and that, trying to find the source, but saw no one. The voice kept going, talking about how much she didn't like her name. How she thought she was worthless. She tried to tune out the harsh words themselves, merely focusing on the direction they were coming from and attempting to follow.
But as she barrelled through an ornate set of double doors, looking for the next flight up… the subject matter changed. And she couldn't ignore the words anymore.
"Chie was the only one who gave my life meaning. She's bright and strong, and she can do anything! She has everything that I don't. Compared to Chie, I'm… I'm…"
"HEY!" she shouted. "I'm coming, Yukiko! Hang on!"
However, the disembodied voice only continued, without any obvious source now. How could it come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time?! "Chie protects me; she looks after my worthless life. And I… I don't deserve any of it… Chie is so kind."
The words burned almost as badly as the tears burned her eyes. This was wrong. Something about it sounded right, sounded satisfying to her, but she didn't want to examine it too deeply. All she wanted was to save her best friend and get her out of this nightmare palace.
"I know, right?"
That was not Yukiko.
"What the-" Her eyes swivelled to the side and saw a girl running backwards. She was about her minimal height, a little over five feet… had the same chestnut-brown bowl cut. The same green jacket. The same…
The same. "Oh no."
"Oh yes," the doppelganger laughed as she easily jogged backwards and kept pace with her, no worry for running into anything. She never did. It was as if this other Chie, this fake, had eyes in the back of her head or rearview mirrors that only she could see. "I bet you knew you'd be seeing me sooner or later."
"What are you?!" Chie demanded of the impostor.
"Don't ask stupid questions," she laughed, voice distorted. "Let's cut the bullshit. And I mean Yukiko's bullshit."
"What… do you… what are you saying?"
Waving a hand up toward the roof, she went on, "Yukiko thinks you're 'so kind'. That you protect her, right? We know that's not what you want from her at all." When she didn't respond, the clone smirked. "You're thrilled to death she depends on you. The most beautiful girl in school, and she needs you — some grubby little bitch who couldn't tell eyeshadow from lipstick. Man, do you get a charge out of that!"
"I… I do not!" she shouted, trying to put her head down and run faster — to ignore this pretender. She had been warned that there were frightening shadows all around them, and this was further proof; it was a trick. One she refused to fall for.
"Where ya goin'?" the clone pouted as she sped up to match pace. "Gotta go save your princess? Of course you do. She can't do anything while you're not around. Helpless like a lost puppy, right?"
Teeth gnashing, she snarled out, "Yukiko is not a puppy!"
"But you wish she was. If she was a helpless dog, yipping around your heels… then you would be set, wouldn't you? What else would you need with a devoted, needy little bitch to boss around?"
"I… excuse me?! What did you call her?" Chie finally stopped, turning to snarl at the girl who stopped as easily as if they had planned this weeks ago. "She's not a bitch! A-and she's not helpless! So you can shut up and go back to wherever you came from, because I have a friend to save!"
And then she left her in the dust.
Determination radiated off her entire body as she leapt over one of the shadows, landed on the face of another and demolished it. They seemed to sap her endurance a little at a time, but she also felt stronger somehow with each one she defeated. Just like training in her secret hideout when she was little; she might be getting tired now, but she would be able to handle more next time.
"You're right."
Her jaw tightened. "Thought I told you to leave me alone."
"You said to go back to where I came from," Other-Chie corrected with a Cheshire cat grin. "And I did! Right here with you!"
"Yukiko needs me! So unless you're going to help me save her-"
"Are you kidding? Like I said, you're right; she's not really that weak. Yukiko doesn't need you. It's the other way around, isn't it?" That shut her up, so the shadow went on, "You don't know the first thing about being a girl. So terrible at it. And she's kind, and sweet, and trusting. What are you?"
"I… I'm her friend."
"No, you're really not," she laughed loudly, harshly. The beginnings of fresh tears stung the back of her throat as she took the next steps two at a time, wishing desperately that she could ditch this unkind spectre. "Because that girl cares about you, and all you care about is that she does. You don't actually like her at all; you find her too quiet, too meek. Too pretty."
"That's not-"
"But she does depend on you. And hey, why should you ditch her when she's so devoted to you? Keep her on the end of your leash like the bitch she is."
"STOP!" Chie begged — and went down hard when her shoe tripped over the top stair, rolling a couple of times onto her side. Her knee had borne the brunt of the fall and now it throbbed in pain, and she automatically tried to massage it. "Just… just leave me alone, I… I do like her, she is my friend! My BEST friend!"
"Awwwwww, is she though?" More false pouting as she crouched over the real Chie. "Can she really be your friend if you want to keep her under your thumb? Totally codependent?"
Growling, she began to crawl forward, wishing she had a good pair of earplugs.
"Can't escape the truuuuth," she sing-songed.
"Go away."
"Just let yourself enjoy it. Give in. In fact… Yukiko is right on the other side of that door."
That made Chie sit up a little straighter. Was she really? Somehow, she knew it was true; she could sense a presence on the other side of the floor-to-ceiling double-doors now that they were so close.
"Yukiko?"
"That's right. So go in there and grind her under the heel of your boot. Show her that you're-"
Completely ignoring the rest of her shadow's words, Chie burst from the ground with renewed adrenaline and kicked open the doors.
"Yukiko!" But the princess didn't move. "Yukiko, what's wrong?!"
As she laughed, madly and maniacally, Yukiko did finally turn around. And she was just as otherworldly and demented as the Chie-clone that had been hounding her heels. Mostly, they looked the same, outfit notwithstanding; it was the eyes… they were almost golden, they blazed with such a yellow intensity. Something about them was most certainly wrong.
"Oh my! A prince has arrived! Things are really heating up!"
Gritting her teeth, Chie pointed at her and said, "No… you're not Yukiko. You're not her at all!"
"What are you talking about?" she gasped, full of false innocence. "I am she, and she is me! We are we."
"Oui oui," Chie's clone added with a light chuckle. A sick lurch shot through her stomach when she realised the clone had followed her inside. Now she had to deal with two of them.
"Oooh la laaaa," the false Yukiko giggled as she pressed an open palm to the center of her chest, just above her ample cleavage. "But I'm afraid if you really want to woo your princess, you'll have to wait! Deeper in, deeper in!"
The shadow of Chie approached her opposite number. Were they in league with each other? Rivals? Maybe they were part of the same being, a monster that wanted to manipulate the people that fell through the TV into this hellscape… but all she did was reach up and grasp at Yukiko's hair, snapping her head backward.
"AH!"
"I'll go deeper in," she promised with a little smirk. "And I don't want to wait."
"Mmhh! Yes, my Prince!" That obscenely lovesick look on her face made Chie turn away from them, throat tight with disgust. "But you can only have me here! I think she wants the other me!"
"Does she? Yes… yes, of course she does." She looked up in time to see the other Chie glowering down at her, despite the sinister smile. "Owning just one of you isn't enough; we need both of you in our cage."
Chie wanted to smack both of their heads together. But then something Yukiko had said pushed through to her: 'deeper in'. She knew where the real Yukiko was.
"Take me to her."
"Huh?" She tilted her head, silky black hair falling to the side. "Take you what where?"
"Don't play dumb. Just… take me to my best friend! You can do whatever you want to me, but I need to see her… I need to know she's okay!"
Against all her expectations, Fake Yukiko pouted instead of looking interested or pleased. "But that's not how this is supposed to work. You do whatever you want to me. Right? I don't wanna be the prince, I wanna be the princess!" And she actually began to sniffle a little.
"Hey, don't cry," the other Chie said with a slight chuckle, tightening her grip on the back of her hair. "I'll make you feel good if you don't cry."
"Y-you will?"
"Hey, HEY!" she shouted over the two of them. "Focus! How about this: I'll help her do that to you, whatever she wants — or I want, or whatever… if you take me to Yukiko first!"
"Oh!" The false Yukiko's face lit up with joy, cheeks turning as pink as her vile princess dress. "You promise? It's not worth it if you don't promise, I wanna hear you say it!"
"I promise. Now, can we get a move on?"
While Yukiko was giggling and literally bouncing up and down for joy, the other Chie started clapping, nodding in approval. "Daaaamn, I'm a little shocked, Satonaka. You're playing her like a fiddle. Thought you were going to insist you're nothing like me, but you're doing exactly what I would do. Bravo!"
"Just cut that out already and let's go," she groaned, burying her face in her hands. Then she felt herself being hoisted into the air. "Wha- WHOA! What are you doing?!"
"Just what you said," she sighed as false Yukiko hitched up her skirts and dashed through the other door toward the stairs. The other Chie fell in step behind her, toting the real one in a princess carry as easily as if she were a bag of flour. "Taking you to see both halves of your whole. Or should I say 'your hole'? Eh? Great pun, right?"
"Disgusting. I can't believe you can talk about her that way — and you call yourself another part of me!"
Her smirk should have been illegal. "Ohhh, but I am. And I see right through all of your bullshit. She's a trophy to you; an ornamental piece. A refrigerator magnet. No… more like, one of those cute little buttons you have pinned to the front of your jacket there." Her head nodded down at said buttons. The sleepy smiley face had always been her favourite, but now she just wanted to rip them off and throw them away. "Something you can wear around and show everyone. Maybe that's what the red one is, right? Is that your Yukiko button?"
"It's… my 'I love exercise' button. And if you're really me, you would know that."
"But it is red, like her favourite colour," she kept teasing.
"Sh-shut up. And do you have to carry me like this?! I can walk, y'know — like my button says!"
"It says you can walk?"
"No, it says I love- just shut up! GOD!"
Laughing openly at her, Other-Chie scoffed, "I'm faster than you. And I won't be a panting, sweaty mess when we get to the top floor… well, maybe once we're there…"
"Does everything you say have to be a double entendre?!"
However, she seemed to be dead on the money. In no time, they were at the top floor, and entering an ornate throne room. Somehow, the shadow Yukiko had gotten there ahead of them with enough time to spare that she could seat herself, and look as prim and proper as if she had been waiting for them for an hour. And there, at the bottom of the red carpet-lined steps leading up to the dais, was…
"YUKIKO!" Springing out of her double's arms, she ran forward and knelt by her side, curling an arm around her shoulders. This Yukiko was wearing a light pink kimono, as she typically did when working at her parents' very traditional Japanese inn.
"My, my, it's getting crowded in here," the shadow on the throne chuckled as she rose from her seat, stepping to the edge of the dais. "Why don't you and I go somewhere else? A land far, far away, where no one knows me. If you're my prince, you'll take me there, won't you? C'mon, pretty please?"
"Do you… mean me?" Chie asked hesitantly. She was a little worried about how the real Yukiko hadn't said anything yet, but curiosity would not let her ignore the shadow entirely.
"Of course, Chie! She's my prince. She always leads the way; Chie is a strong prince." Then she sighed and added, "Or at least, she was."
"Was?" the Other-Chie demanded, eyebrows shooting up.
"When it comes down to it, Chie's just not good enough. She can't take me away from here — can't save me! Historic inn? Manager training? I'm sick of all these things chaining me down — sick of everything being decided for me!"
"The hell I can't save you!" It was a disbelieving scoff, and the other shadow began to stride up the stairs as she continued, "I'm your prince, aren't I? I can do whatever I want with you. And you'll be grateful, because you know I won't let anything bad happen to you ever again. Well… nothing that I'm not doing to you myself."
Even while Chie herself was reeling in fresh disgust, the other Yukiko's eyes were widening. "You will? I m-mean… I really thought you couldn't help me escape my prison."
"I'll destroy your prison and make you a new one," Other-Chie said… and as she reached the top of the stairs, something about her changed. One blink, and she was identical to the real Chie; the next, a large crown appeared on her head to match the thin, delicate tiara on Other-Yukiko's head. The jacket stayed the same colour but turned into something more royal, with gold braids hanging down in loops over the shoulders. Medals replaced the buttons. And her school skirt became grey tights.
"A new one just for me?" Other-Yukiko gasped in wonder.
"Thick bars made of diamonds. The floor will be polished marble, your cot in the corner will be velvet…" Her hands smoothed up Yukiko's neck, gripping in the hair and tilting her head up. "And your collar will be made of the finest leather money can buy."
"Chie…?"
Her attention instantly diverted from the shadows to the real Yukiko Amagi. She was still huddled in her arms, dazed eyes finally focusing on the stairs, up at the two figures. Then turning to the one holding her.
"Yes?" she breathed. "Are you okay?"
"Chie, what… what is… going on? How did I get here?" Already, her eyes were watering as she whispered, "A-are we going to die?"
It wasn't that Yukiko was a coward, or a weakling. She was stronger than she knew. But she saw herself as weak and helpless. Chie had always tried to encourage her to train with her, thinking the kung fu might help offset that meekness, but she had shied away from it — insisting it would be seen as 'unladylike' by her extremely conservative mother. Frowned upon as something ill-suited for a girl who would one day help run the Amagi Inn to be caught doing.
"No," she whispered, a smile finally pulling at her mouth for the first time since she had entered the TV. "No way. I got your back."
"I've been s-so scared," she whispered fearfully as she trembled in her arms. "I don't know wh- don't know what's going on, but I kept thinking, if… if only you came… but how did you know where I was?"
"Boo hoo," Other-Chie jeered at them. And when she turned to look…
This was a very different scene now. Her princely green coat was now draped over her back like a cape, yakuza-style. The rest of her clothing was… something else. Was it some kind of metal bikini? Maybe it was gold; that would explain the yellow sheen. And between the thigh-high boots and opera gloves, and the smug look on her plain face… the outfit was definitely giving it a very specific connotation.
"Isn't it sickening?" Other-Yukiko sighed, shaking her head as her arms folded in front of her chest — in just the right way to push her breasts up. "They cling to each other like they're going to fall apart. And how can that other me just blubber and cry all the time?"
Other-Chie grinned and started sliding her hand up and down the small of her Yukiko's back. "Mmm, forget about them. The real Chie and Yukiko have business to attend."
"Ooooh," she giggled. "What kind of business?"
"Let's get out of here," the real Yuki whispered. "Just… j-just let them do whatever that is, and… and you and I can go back to Marukyu Tofu and… and have something for dinner, and w-we'll just… forget all about this. Okay? If… if you know the way out?"
Her eyes were so hopeful when she looked up at Chie. As always. That was the look that got to her more than she had ever wanted to admit. Which, unfortunately, contributed to how badly the shadow version of herself was getting to her with each and every word…
"Look at her face," said shadow snorted instantly, grinning wolfishly down at the original Chie. "She finally gets it. She sees the ugly black mold under the tatami that she had been pretending didn't stink for years. Yukiko Amagi is nothing but a tool to her."
"And she loves being a tool," her Yukiko breathed as she sat her Chie in the throne, then crawled into her lap, petting up and down her arms. "I know I do."
"Come on!" the real Yukiko whispered. "Can't we go away? Do you know the way home?"
"Y-yeah," Chie whispered. Then she cleared her throat and stood up. "We're going. Back the way we came; if we can get out of the castle, I think I can take us to where we can go back through the TV."
"Through the what?! I'm- WHOA! Chie-chan!"
Not wanting to mince words, she started dragging Yukiko away from the steps. The other girl couldn't move very fast, but it was as much about the restrictive kimono as it was her inferior athletic ability. But she would never give voice to it, never have complained about-
"Why is she SOOOO slow?!" Of course, Other-Chie said it for her. "Doesn't she ever even go outside? Pathetic!"
"Actually… there's something wrong, my Prince."
"What?"
"They haven't paid us back yet."
"Ohhhh. I believe you're — right!"
A loud din of jangling metal filled the air as Chie suddenly found herself stopped short, just a few more strides from the doors. When she looked down, she saw her arms were pinned to her sides by thick chains, and they were already trying to drag her back toward the throne.
"Hey!" she shouted, struggling. "What the hell is this?!"
"You promised!" Other-Yukiko wailed, pouting as the toothily-grinning Other-Chie dragged her back toward them, up the steps and onto the dais. It hurt, but her pride was wounded far more than her body.
"Promised wh… oh. OH! B-but you already have the other me, isn't that enough?"
"You're my prince! Why should I only want one of you when two princes who adore me is twice the fun?"
Her shadow chuckled. "She's got you there, Satonaka."
Now Chie had a dilemma. She could see Yukiko approaching the steps, expression panicked and worried for her best friend. And all she wanted was for her to escape, to save herself. Her entire goal in entering the TV was to get Yukiko out of there!
Then she thought about something else. There were more shadows than their two clones roaming those stone hallways; all manner of beasts and ghouls and assorted horrors. Yukiko was not a fighter; never had been. She still needed her. Even if she hated that she liked it, that didn't make it untrue.
"Alright!" she gasped out. "Okay, let me out of these chains, and… and I'll do it. I'm sorry, I forgot."
"You forgot?!" Yukiko asked incredulously.
"No, no, she did," her own shadow mused, eyes narrowed down at her. "So obsessed with Amagi that we stopped mattering, didn't we? You're as codependent as she is."
"Sure, yeah, whatever. Let's get on with it. What am I supposed to be doing?"
The eyes remained narrowed, but her smirk came into full bloom. "You know already."
"What? No, I really don't. Should I pull her hair like you did?"
"Chie?" asked the real Yukiko as the fake one smiled wider. "What are you doing?"
"I'm sorry, Yuki-chan. Really, it's… I promised them…" She didn't want to continue, but her shadow had other plans, and nudged her hard with her elbow. "I promised I would d-do whatever they wanted if they took me to you. And I mean… they did, so…"
As her friend looked stricken and confused, the false Yukiko nuzzled up against her side. "Do whatever you want to me. It's going to make me feel so safe, so loved! Like my prince cares about me!"
"But she's your prince!" she protested, nodding at the other Chie.
"We're both her prince. How are you still not getting this? No wonder our grades are in the toilet; we're just dumb as a fencepost, huh?" Then she picked up Chie's hands and guided them to the princess's neck. "Do what comes natural. Go on."
"What comes… natural…" Well, putting her hands on Yukiko's neck sure didn't feel that way. Even if this monster was a fake, it had her noble features, her little bow mouth… which was slightly parted in anticipation.
They wanted her to choke her. It hit her like a ton of bricks, and her hands shot away as if burned. Yukiko pouted, and Other-Chie rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Please, stop this," asked the real Yukiko, bowing politely. Just as she had been trained to do. "W-we just want to leave. Is that so wrong? We want to go home!"
"Not until she fulfils her promise," Other-Yukiko pouted. "And it's such an easy one! All she has to do is put me in my place like she already wants to do — everybody wins! I get to belong to my Prince, and she gets to enjoy owning me!"
Yukiko was revolted. "What are you saying?! You're a person, I- no, I'm a person, and so are you, and… who would want to be owned like they're some kind of thing?!"
"Why, we do, obviously. We want a hot stud to sweep us off our feet, so we don't have to think about anything at all! Not managing an inn, not grades, not responsibilities. Living the life of a pet sounds so inviting, doesn't it?"
As she went on, the real Yukiko was beginning to look despondent. And Chie knew why; because she was right — at least partially. It didn't mean she really wanted a life like that, but as she was now beginning to understand, it meant there was a part of Yukiko that found the idea of running away from everything that was expected of her to be an extremely appealing notion. And that it distorted the bonds of their friendship. All the things she had heard Yukiko saying before, echoing off the walls… those were probably her honest feelings and wishes. Everything the shadow spouted was the worst possible version of said feelings.
"Well, I'm not going to do this forever," Chie warned them with a sigh as she reached into the shadow Yukiko's hair and scratched behind her ear. "But I will for a little while. I did promise, I guess."
"Mmm," she hummed, and the false Chie also watched with satisfaction. "My prince… it feels so good, I'm so yours…"
"Doesn't she have any self-respect?" the real Yuki muttered. But it was loud enough they could hear her.
"She doesn't. You know that she doesn't and you don't." Other-Chie began to stride down the steps toward her, a red whip appearing in her hands, already pulled taut. "But while they're busy… would you like to find out how they're feeling up there? So boring, sitting around on the sidelines."
Instantly, the real Chie stepped away from the pet, letting her fall onto her elbows from the unexpected absence of her master. "You leave her alone. That's not part of the promise."
"It's a bonus," her opposite chuckled with a smirk. "All she has to do is say 'yes'."
"But…" She had to think fast. As usual, Yukiko looked too terrified of the imposing shadow, of the whip in her hands, to protest; she might even give in. "But I… but your Yukiko wants us both!"
One eyebrow raised as she turned to smirk back over her shoulder. "But they are both ours. Every Yukiko belongs to us for all eternity. Doesn't that make you feel so good? Makes them feel good."
"So good," Other-Yukiko echoed, rubbing up and down her upper arms as her eyes closed in bliss at the mere fantasy.
"You lay one finger on her and the deal is off," Chie pushed stubbornly. "I said I would… d-do things to the other Yukiko, but you getting to torture my best friend isn't part of that!"
A little "Chie…" slipped out of Yukiko's lips. Then she swallowed hard and said to the other one, "Y-yes, please don't touch me. I… I don't want…"
"Liar," she insisted.
"I am not lying! I'm scared, I d-don't want to be here! And I don't want you to hurt m-"
She cut off with a yelp as the whip came whistling down, hitting the ground right next to her fingers. She clutched both hands to her chest and shrank in on herself, eyes slammed shut as she tried to blot out everything and everyone.
"She wants it," Other-Chie said with certainty. "Look at how pathetic she is. Not trying to fight me off, can't even move now."
Other-Yukiko laughed and began to paw at Chie's leg, which made her a lot more uncomfortable than she could have imagined. "Poor little bitch thinks she's too good for our collars. Speaking of which…"
Suddenly, the other Chie was standing over her and holding a black spiked dog collar, dangling off the end of her index finger. She began to twirl it around and around. "Happy birthday to us."
"What's… what are you doing with that?" Now it was in real Chie's own hands. The leather was warm and heavy, and the shadow Yukiko's neck was slender, calling out for its companion. "Oh."
"Please?" she breathed needily. "Just… put it on, and we'll both be so happy…"
So she put it on. She couldn't bear to face the real Yukiko, but she managed to slide the leather around her doppelganger's throat and fit it snugly without being too tight. A sigh of gratitude fell from her as soon as it was complete, and she smiled up at Chie with what seemed like genuine affection.
"I thought you had seen how worthless I am," she whispered. "But you want me all to yourself? Really?"
"S-stop it," she muttered as she cleared her throat. "I did it because it's… what you wanted. A trade for Yukiko."
"But I'm-"
"What else do you want me to do? Huh? So we can get it done, and… and I can go home."
Now the false Yukiko looked as if she might cry. Her real life counterpart crept forward to kneel on the second step, getting a better look. Other-Chie clicked her tongue, though her expression remained as smug as ever. "So mean. Give her what she wants, and then make her feel like doggie doo. What a power move; really keep her on your leash this way."
"Cut that OUT!" Chie snapped.
"Whoa, touchy! I can't help it if the truth is too weird for you."
"You don't want to be here with me," Other-Yuki finally breathed, and Chie found herself actually feeling a pinprick of remorse. "Can't you play with me a little more before you go? I… I'm gonna miss you…"
"Oh… fine, fine. Tell me what it is you want me to do."
Her expression full of sappy affection — and the real Yukiko's full of disbelief and outrage — she began to hitch up her skirts. "Well, I did pick out something very special to wear today — so I can catch a stud, like you! But it looks like I got defeated, and these are going to waste, so… I thought-"
"Wait, wait, I'm not- you want me to see your underwear?!"
"Not just see it…"
Cold flooded the pit of her stomach. She turned wide eyes on the real Yukiko, who still seemed dazed but was now frowning a lot deeper than before, then back to the legs that were appearing beneath the hem of the clone's dress.
"No."
"Don't you want to go home?" she purred as her thighs came into view. "Play with me. Make me feel really, really good… and you might get that wish. Pretty please?"
"NO! You're a shadow, a- a demon! Why would I do something for you I've barely ever done to myself — much less anybody else?!"
The shadow Yukiko got a little more insistent, pout more pronounced. "Because I'm your princess! Touch me — make my body come alive for you! Turn me into your willing servant!"
"Come on, stop it!"
"Why? Give me one good reason you shouldn't be ripping off my clothes and having your way with m-"
"Because I wanna do this with the REAL Yukiko, not YOU!"
