People who are like “Omg gen z theatre kids only know *proceeds to list every single musical that came out after 1999*” are the most annoying assholes like hey maybe we just don’t like shit from the 1960’s or we have specific tastes have you ever considered that

Spent the last five years trying to relearn loving to read after slogging through a lit degree with undiagnosed ADHD by exclusively reading silly lil fantasy books, then Hozier comes out with an album that references stuff and I'm immediately like 'brb gotta read Dante's Inferno'

he's listening to terrible traphouse music & drill & fuckboy rap & industrial noise and the day that juicewrld died was probably his personal 9/11!!!

It is very obvious to me that I like music that tells stories. (ALL music tells stories. Every song tells a story.) I like concept albums, I like musicals.
Therefore I find it very funny both that my favorite Mech’s album is one of the two that don’t have an overarching story *and* that my favorite My Chem album is the one that doesn’t have an overarching story.

oh! by the by, for folks not aware of my weekly breakdowns on twitter, I've been compiling a Comprehensive OFMD Soundtrack as we go through s2 (here; and my s1 playlist is here)
it's all about trying to be able to basically listen along with the show, and contextualising all the classical music a bit more. except I don't actually have a good memory for repertoire, so y'know, it's a bit cobbled together from other people's insights and copious Shazam-ing, and there are still a few notable gaps.
still!! it's allowed me to make some cool connections and notice some fun themes! I'm currently tracking the use of the La Follia theme in s2, and let me tell you, it's a fuckin doozy so far!
please let me know if you have any additions or insights to make!! I love soundtracks and classical music a lot, despite my shitty memory, and I think it can provide such an interesting window into the show! <3

My dad insisted I watch the opening of the season of La Scala di Milano with him and I braced myself for four hours of unintelligible warbling (I am not overly fond of opera as a rule). Ten minutes in and I was determined to watch it to the end because oh boy, Don Carlo by Verdi slaps.
My thoughts on what I watched so far:
Carlo and Rodrigo should kiss and it would solve 90% of their problems.
OMG THE COSTUMES ARE SO STUNNING I’M OBSSESSED
This princess of Eboli is scheming something ugly.
The Queen should elope with her handmaiden and it would solve 90% of her problems.
The SASS, the AUDACITY of Rodrigo is too great for this world. He tells the king to his face that he hopes History won’t remember him as Nero. I was gripping my seat.
This opera is so gay
