i think diluc has problems with control. he likes everything to be in his hands, on his shoulders; perhaps not to burden anyone. or perhaps because he doesn’t trust anyone to do it right. to do it how he would.

it manifests in all sorts of prickly ways. it causes him anxiety, to not have control, to watch it unspool from his fingers. it isn’t fair, maybe, for him to not allow anyone the chance of trying, but to do it himself. it’s a bit of an insult—to think they’re incapable.

it causes problems with the knights, with kaeya, with the city, with you.

at first it’s a little rocky, your relationship with him. there’s a lot of push and pull, both of you sinking your teeth down into the other and trying to wrestle them still. he’s a little brash, you’re quite stubborn, he thinks he knows what’s best for you—

perhaps because he just. loves you. more than he can say. and he wants you safe and healthy and cared for.

maybe you’re a troublemaker, a little rough on yourself. an expert in self sabotage. undomesticated. wild little thing.

and in another argument, where he’s berating you about being reckless, about not taking care of yourself, it just sort of…clicks for you.

he’s not angry, he’s scared.

keenly, you become aware of his desperate need for control. and you start to give it to him a little more. small things at first; what you eat for breakfast, which dress to wear for the day, how he wants you. or needs you, maybe.

it takes some coaxing, you think.

but you realize one night, when he admits, almost raggedly, like it’s eaten him up inside, that he half wants to possess you;

maybe it was not just you who was coaxing.

suddenly, you seek his council and his guidance and his care. suddenly you want to know what dress he wants you in, you want to make him proud, you want to—

follow his rules, you realize.

they are good for you. getting enough sleep. eating well. expressing yourself—your wants and needs and anxieties and feelings. being responsible. not dashing into danger.

he settles and calms, when you give up the control to him. happily, he takes it. content to know you are safe and healthy and well taken care of.

and when he feels out of control (with the knights, with the city, with kaeya), he knows he has you, within it. you to return to. you to soothe him.

you to call willingly into his control, you who craves it now, whose never been happier. healthier.

he’s patient, too. so tender about it. loves spoiling you for being good—for listening to him. punishments are fair and only used when he believes absolutely necessary; he’s not much of a sadist. he doesn’t like hurting you. he doesn’t like when you’re mad or resentful over a punishment, hates to see you pout.

(but he does love when you cling to him and cry afterwards—)

and when he introduces a collar to you, it’s subtle, tasteful. beautiful. it could almost just be a necklace.

you know better, though. and it feels a little inevitable, like perhaps this was always on his mind.

you’re shy about it at first and he doesn’t push it. slips it on you when you’ll allow him, takes it off when you’re finished. how often you have it on becomes more frequent, longer, you begin to crave the weight on your neck, your chest.

and then one day he goes to remove it but you stop him. and there’s so much heat in your face when you ask, but you have to ask, if diluc has taught you anything it’s so say what you want—

oh, it’s what he’s always wanted.

“of course,” he soothes, kissing your cheeks, your chin, your mouth. “of course.” he hushes.

and you can’t help but feel like it was what he was coaxing you to all along.

- Only swears like once under very extreme circumstances. Again not bc of any autism attributed "innocence" but bc in other times he feels like it's not really necessary but it does feel good in a dire situation. He gets that singular F bomb swag. Otherwise he probably just says "Damn"

THE BONUSES

Katagawa Jr - He's Really particular about his favorite foods, if they change the ingredients in a sauce he uses regularly he IS calling the company to leave a word at least once and he threatens to switch to another manufacturer out of Spite. He actually won't use the alternative product bc IT DOESN'T TASTE THE WAY HE LIKES but this threat usually warrants change enough so that he doesn't even have to. His foods needs to be JUST SO.

- I'm not sure how well I'm gonna be able to word this but. Despite being really ambitious he never really feels like it'll be enough. Like he won't be enough to get what he wants, like he needed to be born a fundamentally different way somehow to truly reach all his wildest dreams and it eats him up inside so he invests all his time in treating himself like a god and climbing higher and higher but he's afraid of when the wax wings melt and so he just keeps going and wondering what's missing from him. In the end it doesn't shake him enough to consider his WILDLY privileged position in the world but such are the woes of disgustingly rich young people.

Senshi - If he lived in our world he'd be that guy who works for volunteer TNR facilities and fosters different kinds of animals to make sure they get into good homes. You cannot tell me he wouldn't do this. He KNOWS feral cats are living poor lives and a danger to the local ecosystems, he KNOWS and he's HELPING

☔ Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

Oh there absolute is and I was really hoping I’d get this one, thank you for sending it! The working title for this fic is “Six Places Wynn Duffy Might Be (But Probably Isn’t)” and it’s probably the most insane and cracky fic idea I’ve ever had—kind of inspired by Timothy Olyphant’s character in The Office—but I really really love it. It’s multimedia, and the basic premise is that Rachel sends Raylan a file with six different leads in it, all of them documenting the possible location and assumed identity of Wynn Duffy. Each lead is a crossover with a different other TV show. The first item is a transcript from Troy and Abed in the Morning, discussing whether or not the new security systems professor and women’s tennis coach at Greendale is actually some kind of disgraced/retired crime lord, based on the evidence that he made several strange comments: one a reference to the job not being exactly what he wants but “at least no one’s throwing bullets at me.”

The second is a town meeting transcript from Pawnee, Indiana discussing the presence of a new food truck run out of an RV called Win-a-Bagel, with some citizens concerned that it’s a scam and/or money-laundering scheme, while other residents argue that it’s not worth looking into and possibly jeopardizing their opportunity to win free bagels. The one after that is a transcript from a documentary about a paper company called Dunder Mifflin currently in production in Scranton, Pennsylvania; specifically, interviews with/about a new hire named Larry Mawkins, who according to his own reports was previously a very unpopular motivational speaker/life coach, until one day the lone member of his audience killed himself in the middle of the seminar. One colleague in particular, Dwight Schrute, has become convinced that it’s impossible for anyone to be that much of a general bore and total failure at life unless it was intentional to make people underestimate and dismiss him, leading to the theory that he’s on the run from either the cops or the mob. Their other colleagues weigh in on the realism and likelihood of this theory. However, Larry Mawkins has since disappeared without warning, having stopped showing up to work the day after a new hire named Danny Cordray joined the staff.

The next two were a lot more vague and sketchy and I was having trouble trying to find shows that Duffy-in-disguise would fit into. The one I got the farthest with would have been a newspaper article from Santa Barbara where Shawn Spencer claims that all of the houses in a recent string of “unconnected” robberies were in fact installed by the same man, despite all being from different companies. When police looked into it, they realized that none of the companies had been made aware of these installations. However, all the names used with the clients were fake names, so there was no way to track down the culprit, and the rash of robberies ended, leaving the case cold. After that, I had a couple ideas that I couldn’t figure out how to fit into the structure: either a loan shark or a rival banana stand owner (who possibly also sold drugs) in Arrested Development was one, and Darryl from Crazy Ex Girlfriend’s new boyfriend, whom everyone agrees is sketchy and probably a criminal, was another.

And then, of course, number six: an extreme (and therefore extremely blurry) zoom on the background of an image posted to Instagram, centered on someone who could possibly be Wynn Duffy, actually on a beach somewhere in Fiji—and lying in the sand next to him is a guy who looks suspiciously like Neal Caffrey ;)

Neal's creativity appeals to me on multiple levels. As a writer, I feel a tiny bit of kinship with his creative genius. And also as a writer, I know I can write him trying just about anything.

one aspect i wish more people understood about them

In the episode after Ellen died, he was sooo miserable. It hit me when I first watched it, but it hit me so much harder rewatching it after my mother died. I saw so much grief in him, and he struggled so much to do things he usually loved -- i.e. a museum heist.

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character

In the episode where he's helping rescue a diplomat's son, Neal starts dropping clues about his own dad. There's a scene in Neal's loft where Mozzie says, "Maybe he could help." I completely misunderstood that line, and it led to a headcanon that permeates my Caffrey Conversation series.

What I eventually realized Mozzie meant: Peter could help you get answers about your dad.

What I initially thought Mozzie meant: Your dad could help with what's going on with the diplomat/the State Department, i.e. Neal's dad was someone with a lot of influence and who probably did not want people to know Neal had been in prison.

When I realized what Mozzie really meant, I could not let go of my idea that SOMEONE in Neal's family had serious influence. And that's why in my AU Neal's maternal grandfather is an ambassador.

one character i love seeing them interact with

Sara! I ship Neal and Sara, and I wish we'd seen more of them together, especially in the last season.

Ellen -- I have so many questions that scenes with her could have answered. What was Neal's childhood like? How did they reunite after he ran away -- because somehow he got that pager? How did he know her address to send her the painting?

Kate -- surprise! I ship Neal and Sara, but I wanted more Kate backstory. We know that Neal was convinced she was on his side, and that Peter was convinced she was not. Who was right? Enquiring fans want to know!

In my mind Neal and Sara are living happily ever after. They often get together with Peter and El. Mozzie is the godfather to Neal and Sara's children, and June is the godmother.

24. What do your characters think about marriage? Are they for or against it?

Asheera idealizes it. To her, she thinks of her parents and how her mother and father lived together through the thick of things. She's very much for it.

Shadowheart would have a very unique perspective on marriage given her Sharran upbringing. Since she has no connection to her elven heritage, really, she wouldn't have the same kind of "intense, idealized romantic love" elven ideas of marriage, and I'm sure she would find it kind of pointless when she already has someone at her side that says she loves her. I don't think Shadowheart's against it, but I think she just doesn't see the purpose.

That said, if Asheera wanted to get married I don't think she'd say no.

39. If your OCs has/had a child, who would be the stricter parent?

If they ever had kids?

Asheera, without a doubt. She expects a lot and would want to see her child(ren) flourish.

On the other hand, Shadowheart would be the ultimate spoiler. Holy shit, there has never been a more obvious doter in the history of anyone. "Yes, one more sweet before supper... Fine. Two." Just a spine of wet paper.

“Master Yuliy, huh? …Even the moon casts a shadow.”

• Can get along with Yuliy most of the time. She doesn’t mind that he seems to be naturally quiet, and says little. She’d prefer that over the more boisterous students of NRC. Plus— his soft voice is one of the few that don’t hurt her ears. Cloche can applaud him in trying to be calm— she thinks it’s a good thing to strive towards.

• Yuliy’s rebel side is troublesome. While Cloche lets a lot of shenanigans fly by, she doesn’t understand why Yuliy would go out of his way to join in on the chaos— and for what? Curiosity? Oh well, whatever floats his boat, she guesses. She wouldn’t try to stop or tell Yuliy off when he’s on his mischief streak, since she believes he should have the freedom to do as he pleases… even if the consequences might be a little unsavoury if he was found out. She wishes him luck and will happily take a detour in the halls, if she senses the tiniest bit of trouble. …But if a friendship between them ever develops, Cloche supposes she wouldn’t mind indulging Yuliy on a stunt or two— as long as her participation is indirect. (Home girl can forge handwriting and signatures)

• That height… Shorter than average, Cloche is used to being towered over by everyone— but Yuliy specifically?! Damn! Cloche sometimes wonder if Yuliy is even human and not a fae or beastman of some sort— though his knowledge of “Earth Metal” tells her otherwise.

• Both intrigued and wary of Yuliy’s two personas. Cloche is not a fan of the unpredictability, but it’s not like he can change that, right? I can see Cloche trying to observe and pinpoint the signs of when Yuliy has switched from black-to-white, going even so far as to actively take notes on each personality’s little quirks and differences.

“Magic seems to conveniently miss you whenever you’re faced with danger… I can’t help but wonder how much of this is really ‘luck’, Master Yuliy.”

🛑Biggest turn offs? What are their hard-nos?

Ashenivir at present has three major hard nos: Female titles, breeding, and watersports. The first two are gender-related things; he gets dysphoric about being called feminine things still, and breeding is the same kinda deal. The other is just something he has no interest in. I do vaguely think he tried it with a partner once and went ‘oh no, not for me, add that one to the Hard Stop list’.

Big turnoffs are again, the female names thing. He also fairly recently learned that being called a disappointment (as part of degradation play) is very triggering.

🤔Is there a kink or other sexual experience they've never been able to try, but want to?

He wants to try exhibitionism—he loves being owned by Rizeth, and does want to try having that on display in a much more sexual context. It’s a hard sell for Rizeth, tbh, because he’s pretty private in terms of what more explicit things he’ll do where others can see.

He also wants to try flogging (he sees a demo of it in Perils of Wanting and is like 👀👀👀)

🎀Bondage? Ropes, leather cuffs, nylon, or something else? Are they the rigger or the rope bunny?

Ashenivir is such a rope bunny. He loves rope especially—he goes deep in subspace when Rizeth takes the time to do actual shibari-type ties on him. It’s one of the things that consistently calms his mind and he really enjoys it.

He likes leather too—the boys have a set of really nice leather cuffs, and he adores being chained to the bed with them, or hands to ankles, or to ceiling hooks or…well, anywhere really. He is my precious bondage boy, and luckily Rizeth likes tying him up as much as he likes to be bound.
