uncle_jezzy Dear fans and followers, I wanted to make a wee community announcement. I couldn’t help but notice that there has been some social animosity of late. It’s becoming increasingly prevalent on my feed. There has been lots of, let’s call it speculation for now, about my private life and relationships.
Now, while I do appreciate the passion and support by those very people who are ‘speculating,’ it has come to such a point that I needed to say something, which in itself is a bad thing. We are living in an age of social enlightenment. More and more, people are realizing that their views may have been blinkered and that they need to expand them to encompass others.
So to you out there who are expressing your disdain and showing your displeasure through a surprising variety of ways, it’s time to stop. I know it can be fun to speculate, to gossip, and to dive into our own personal echo chambers on the internet, but your ‘passion’ is misplaced, and it causes harm to the people I care about most, and I won’t stand for it.

Far too many pics of the Palais Garnier (Part Two!)
Tumblr media
In October of 2022, I had the extraordinary experience of getting to complete an 15+ year old dream of mine to visit the Palais Garnier. I took a metric fuckton of pictures and now I want to share them with you all, the PotO community!
Before I start dumping, a few things:
Please reblog this post. I usually don’t post a lot, therefore I don’t have a big following. I’d really appreciate people sharing these as much as they can. When I was a dumb kid in ye olden days of the internet, finding a post like this was the sort of thing I would have been hyped up on for weeks. Help spread that kind of joy!
Feel free to use these photos for any sorts of graphics, artistic reference or any other fandom related projects, as long as it’s not for profit. Please just credit me in some way. In fact, I'd love to be tagged to see whatever creations come from sharing all this!
This is part two, which will be photos of the interior. While there, I also took a tour, Mysteries of the Palais Garnier. I'll share a lot of the things I learned throughout the post and try to provide as much context as I can.

Upon leaving the designated tour office area, we entered this large, circular room where our tour began. Giant mirrors lined the walls and one of my companions immediately remarked that she felt as though someone was watching her from behind them.
On the ceiling there was this intricate pattern. We learned that this was Charles Garnier's "signature". He was concerned that at some point in time, his name would be forgotten and he would no longer be remembered as the architect of the Opera. If you look closely, his name is intertwined in the design, as well as the years of the building's construction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are salamanders hidden throughout the building as they were said to ward off devastating fires. It was very common for theaters to burn down, then. In fact, the construction of the Garnier was somewhat rushed in the last few years because the company's previous theater, Salle le Peletier burned to the ground in 1873. The Garnier opened in 1875.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We learned in our tour that these cracks on the steps were the result of a great tragedy. A group of ballerinas had been exploring the roof when the glass on the large window above cracked. One ballerina fell through the window and met her demise on the steps below.

With all these pictures of doors to the private boxes, you're probably wondering, "Hey Lotus, what about the most important one?" I got you, boo.

BANGTEEZ Maknaes: A Decade Long Friendship
Upcoming military service has Jungkook reflecting on one of his longest friendships outside of his group.
Tumblr media
December 6, 2023 (1:07PM)
On a solo live preceding the enlistment farewells, BTS' Jungkook finally shed some light on the 10 year friendship shared with ATEEZ's Himari. Since the surprising reveal of their relationship netizens have been wondering how the two came to this point and if they were truly close with one another.
As shared by Jungkook they met through Yoongi, who happens to be the young woman's older brother, as he wished to introduce his friends to his siblings before making his debut. Due to being the closest in age the two quickly got along, texting every now and then until she joined the industry about a year later, after which their communication became more frequent.
'I actually had a crush on her a little bit after we met...but Yoongi hyung found out about it and scolded me.' He revealed whilst talking about some of the many fun anecdotes he shares with her.
The soloist even shared adorable photos of them which spread through the internet like wildfire:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to him - as well as the writing credits - she has taken part in the production of a few songs in his recently released album 'Golden' which he claims to have been 'more like relaxing with a friend than working'. When he invited her to the filming set of 3D he was apparently jokingly scolded for being shirtless and videos of the two messing around during breaks were released during promotions.
Certain Korean fans found it odd that after a decade of being friends they still use a formal speech form but he admitted that they only spoke this way in front of cameras, as they thought people might believe their relationship to be romantic should they show their level of comfort through their usual informal speech.
To close off the conversation regarding their friendship he showed a box given to him by Himari, which contained a variety of handmade pastries along with a note saying 'See you soon Kookie-Ah ♡'. As his enlistment is set to take place in winter she had gifted him the hat he wore throughout both lives with the comment 'to keep what's left of your hair warm'.
Due to her rather busy schedule this was unfortunately the last day they were able to see each other and BTS member Jimin said in their group live that both ended up crying while saying goodbye. Although this is only a temporary separation the two are well known for being quite sensitive so it came as no surprise.
Overall even though this is a friendship that had been kept rather private by the artists, fans were more than glad to hear about their bond - and are eagerly awaiting more anecdotes that the soloist promised after his service.

Love is Better the Second Time Around Episode 5

Love is Better the Second Time Around Episode 5
POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNING: Homophobia and Disownment. I’m not going that deep into the topics which include homophobic and depictions of being disowned, however, I’m just trying to be cautious.
Love is Better the Second Time Around Episode 5 is OUT! Let’s get into the short review right away. SPOILERS DUH.
As expected, of course, the couple broke up even though Haru just admitted that he liked Takashi – as well as agreeing to “go out” with him. I want to talk about four topics from this episode.
First theme: Disownment in Japan
I mean, as it turns out, being disowned in Japan is not only caused by homophobia. I think this has been depicted many times in several Japanese TV medias which I have encountered – I think, in general, not achieving the family’s expectations of you will make you really isolated from the family. However, HUGE DISCLAIMER, this subtopic is not going to talk about whether it is more likely to be disowned in Japan compared to other countries nor is it going to delve into the psyche of Japanese families, as well as their internal dynamics, and why they choose to disown instead of choosing other methods in showing their dissatisfaction or repulsiveness towards their kin. This subtopic will focus exclusively on being disowned in Japan by your family because you have been outed as a cis-gay man through the lens of two Japanese BL works: Love is Better the Second Time Around episode 5, Tokyo in April is… episode… I guess the whole series.
To clarify, I’m talking about the act of disownment of a child or an adult by their family, so it’s not about a baby, newly born or not, being abandoned by their mother because of a myriad of reasons. It’s quite hard for me to find a credible source on the internet about the practice of disownment in Japan, be it the reasons, or mechanism. I found this article about how, in the classical times of Japan, disownment is a form of remedy due to your crimes against your “ancestors” (https://www.japanesewiki.com/history/Fukyo.html).
I also found anecdotes that many Japanese families would disown their offspring because they marry “Internationally”- as the film Life: Love on the Line puts it. The anecdotes are very old, it’s from 2007 (https://ask.metafilter.com/83832/How-does-disownership-of-a-child-work-in-Japan
).
Setting all of those aside, let us dig deep as to what happened in the two series. In Love is Better the Second Time Around, Takashi was outed by, who turned out to be, a distant relative of his. The rumor got spread around. He got disowned. He needed to change his surname from Hoshizawa to Iwanaga. I don’t know how he got his PhD in economics, I assume in Japan, only PhD graduates can be a lecturer. Maybe his new adopted family paid for the tuition fee until his doctorate degree, or maybe he got scholarship all the way up to his PhD studies.
In Tokyo in April is…, Ren was saved by Kazuma from being groomed sexually, not the over-the-internet-incredibly-flirtatious-chat grooming. He was forced to be outed in the hospital to describe what He and Kazuma were doing in the love hotel. Kazuma’s mum slapped and told Ren never to meet Kazuma again. Ren was forced to go to a HS in France, not allowed to inherit the hospital of his grandfather. In the manga, his dad was forced to resign from the hospital, in the live-action series, it was not mentioned about his dad’s status after the rumor of his son’s gay sex act was spread around. He needed to change his surname. He finished his HS and his degree, I think, in France. Then he went back to Japan with his new identity and all.
Now, before going to the analysis. Two things that I have observed to stand out very clearly: 1. The disowned son is still given a future, 2. The disowned son needs to change their surname as he is no longer a member of the family. I still don’t know how Takashi got his degrees, financially, but he still could get those degrees and become a respected economics lecturer. In Tokyo in April is…’s finale, Ren said to his sexual-assault-covering boss that he was grateful to him because he “could repay his family’s tuition” because of the job, which means that his disowning family still paid his tuition in France, just as a loan tho.
It's very unique for me to see this representation, because in many western medias, the disowned son becomes unhoused, a fear which still terrifies me today, and his future really becomes uncertain. In terms of name, I don’t really recall disowned gay men in any western media works to have changed their surname or name completely. I understand that many trans- or non-binary individuals or gender fluid people to have done this, be that they get disowned or not. Let me say before we get deeper into my two cents of this subtopic. I’m not saying that disowned gay sons in Japan have it “easier” compared to other disowned gay sons around the world just because that they are not immediately unhoused in these two BL works. I don’t know the statistics, and I really don’t think we should compare our sufferings amongst us gay men.
A). However, does Japan’s own attitude to the idea of a “state” contribute to these representations? I mean, in western media works, the disowned gay son is completely cut-off because said son is not a member of the family and thus not merited the PRIVATE wealth and comfort of the family. Western idea of ownership, state, and cold-war era propaganda of the “nuclear family” really contribute as to why the representation of disowned gay sons in their media become understandable. But in Japanese, it’s very new for me. Or is it a mere fear of criminal prosecution if the family doesn’t provide means for the future of the disowned gay son? I don’t know.
B). Your family name holds a special place in Japan. I know that it also carries a huge weight in many parts of the world, even here in Indonesia - where most plebian families don’t have a surname - your surname holds such an importance too. In most western media works which I have consumed, the disowned gay son, doesn’t really change his name. He just gets own with his own life, as his surname is the last of his concern. I think this connects well with the first observation I made – in most western media works, the disowned gay son is too focused on surviving, that he doesn’t give a fig about what he is called. If we see it in practical terms, let’s say a disowned gay son is moving from somewhere in the deep south of the states, and he moves to somewhere in New York, new England or somewhere in the west coast, his new start will not really check his name on some federal database, his new semi-blue-collar employer will not check his family background. Unless that he has a criminal record, he is free to use his old name or a new one, his family will not be disadvantaged at all because neither his new life nor his family is connected.
Take these observations with huge grains of salt, as I did not revisit many western media works as a reference, and I have not, and did not, included all Japanese BL works which have this trope, such as Umibe no étranger. I completely forgot as to what happened to the disowned gay son, in that anime film, before coming back to his hometown.
Second theme: Foreigners and Japanese
The second theme I’d like to talk about is Japanese relationship with foreigners. The relationship in a sense of how Japanese see foreigners against/for their patrimony. I will not write a lot about this subtopic because it touches complex topics like Japanese nationalism and the Japanese idea of race – topics which I don’t know much about. To talk about this subtopic, I want to discuss two works, Love is Better the Second Time Around episode 5 and Life: Love on the Line (director’s cut film).
Let’s revisit the chatroom/blog discussion website from 2007 (https://ask.metafilter.com/83832/How-does-disownership-of-a-child-work-in-Japan
). One of the posters said that when, I presumed his personal pronouns are he/hem/his, his Japanese wife married her non-Japanese husband, she got disowned. But then, when her sister got divorced, she was “seen better than her sister”. Setting aside the perception of divorced or spinsterish people, isn’t it crazy that based on that one anecdote, his wife’s family disowned their own daughter just because she married a non-Japanese person. Again, I don’t know the statistics hence I don’t know the prevalence of this behavior. I don’t even know whether the poster of the story on the website was telling the truth or not, however this anecdote is a great jumping point in understanding what happened in the two works I want to present.
In Life: Love on the Line, Ito, the bitch who actually kissed Nishi first, asked to break up with Nishi because he wanted to have “a normal family”. Hold up, I need to vent about Ito, WHAT A BITCH, you really don’t appreciate what you got bro. JESUS, I really cannot contain my anger to Ito. Venting side note over. Ito eventually got a divorce with his wife because he still loves Nishi. And, when he went back to his family’s house to announce his divorce, it turns out his sister is marrying a south Asian person, I forgot whether it was Indian or any other ethnicity. His mother became mad and pointed to his sister that she needed to be more like Ito because he has a normal life and family. His mum’s statement prompted him to stand up and said that he’s getting a divorce, and he has been in love with Nishi all this time and adding “compared to International love, it’s pretty normal right?”, or something to that effect.
In Love is Better the Second Time Around, we don’t really see the family dynamics as to why Takashi is called back to his family, besides the fact that because his sister is marrying a non-Japanese person, he needs to be the one that bears the responsibility of continuing his family’s business. I have not read the manga so I don’t know how Takashi family views their daughter’s “international marriage” compared to their estranged son.
Side note, it seems that Takashi is going to decline the offer to continue the family business because he’s gay… huh? I mean in Restart After Come back Home, Mitsuomi still can continue the family business even though that he’s gay. Well, he has not come out yet. Side note to the power of two, Isn’t it weird that a salaryman can just continue his father’s, long established, carpenter business? Like huh?
I really need to understand more about Japanese view on foreigners marrying their own. I mean, it’s a pretty extreme stance to say that, even a heterosexual, “international marriage” is considered a strange, or deviation from a normal one. Is it just because of the practical matter that the non-Japanese person cannot continue the family business? Is it because that the non-Japanese person hard to assimilate to the Japanese culture?
Side note again, does this mean that BL works with protagonists that used to live in the west like Tokyo in April is… and Senpai, This can’t be Love, to name two, also have “full” Japanese parents, just that they used to live abroad…?
Third theme: Haru mental leap
I think Haru in episode 4 and 5 are very different, “bigly”. We just saw Haru getting comfortable in episode 4 of getting in bed and accepting Takashi as his lover – boyfriend. I think in this episode, Haru became braver in his mannerism as well as drawing the line with Takashi. Yes, I will be having sex with you as lovers, yes, I will be calling you my lover, even in front of my own enemy, but I will not be moving into your place, yet. I think because we have seen how Takashi disappointed, or as it turns out, was smeared to look like he disappointed Haru, Haru’s walls were already up, so it’s not easy I guess for him to draw lines.
Someone on Twitter actually translated the conversation Haru and Takashi on LINE. In the chat, Takashi actually congratulated Haru on being the Deputy Editor, and Haru’s response was just like “okay”. Like wtf. This is another trope that I don’t like in Japanese BL works. I think the biggest offender of this trope is Minato’s Laundromat. It’s the trope of “Oh yes we’re now boyfriends, but I’m gonna act too cool to care about it”. Like what…? I mean Hiro’s mannerisms on digital products, E-Mail and social media are so different with his real-life behaviors, to the people that he knows. Why does he still use his journalist face even with Kyosuke?
Fourth theme: Blackmail – Japan’s most loved trope?
Before talking about this subtopic, let me first take my celebratory dance. I’M SO RELIEVED THAT MY BRAIN ITCH IS NOT WRONG OMG. Haru didn’t overhear some sob in the hall that Takashi bet against him. It was, presumably, Kyosuke that took a picture of a young, I think, Haru, and wrote in the email that Takashi was betting against his appearance in the train station.
What is it with BL and blackmail trope? I mean I know that it’s not uncommon for closeted gay guys to be threatened by blackmail about his sexual orientation, but I already see this plot line used in Help I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year and The End of the World with You. I think The End of the World with You is such a unique one in using this plot line as the perpetrator of the blackmail is also the one who did the gay sex act with the blackmail victim lol.
Side note: I guess in the finale, Haru is bringing up the fact that Takashi is carrying all the burden by himself – gosh this trope again, I’ve seen it in Tokyo in April is…, let’s see how they execute it next week.
linguistic corner!!!!
I can’t believe how many times “aishiteru” was said in this episode. It seems like the show runners saw my blog post about the Japanese disinclination in using the word “aishiteru” and prefer to use the word “sukida”, made script changes and reshot a lot of scenes – I know it’s the conspiracy and narcissism talking in my head haha. I am genuinely surprised as to how many “aishiteru” was said in the episode, is it because that Takashi loves Hiro that much that he said that? I mean in this episode Takashi actually said it not while they were having sex.
I think this may be true as it is actually a point of rift between the two. I think it was since episode 3? That Hiro has always mentioned that their love intensity is different, is it that he feels that Takashi doesn’t love him enough? That’s why he was sort of lingering with the idea that Takashi still sees him as “an outsider”. Side note: while I’m writing this subtopic, I Love by Official Higedandism is playing HAHAH. The way that Takashi kept secret some of his familial stuff, read the previous subtopic about “carrying the burden all by himself”, I think, made Hiro easier to ask for a break, or rather that he was asking for a break up, but got a break.
Side note: this is the first time that I see when gays break up in a Japanese BL work that his place becomes a mess like in western media works, I mean all I see in other works is the guy failed a class (The End of the World with You), the guy continues his life but still missing his ex (Life: Love on the Line, Although I Love You, and You?, Mr Sahara and Toki-Kun, My Beautiful Man, Pornographer).
All in all, I can’t wait, albeit dread, for the finale next week !

Tumblr media
You took a deep breath, and another, and another... You could not blame yourself, it smelled absolutely divine outside. Judging by the smile the other pedestrians had on their faces, you were not the only one who enjoyed the scent. You followed the map displayed on your phone and, funnily enough, the scent got stronger and stronger until you were standing in front of a glass door.
The store was small, squeezed between a law firm and some residential building, the windows were decorated with all sorts of heart shaped, red and pink decals. The flowers beds were empty at that time of year, Spring had yet to make an appearance, but plastic ones were neatly arranged instead. From behind the counter, Jake was putting away boxes and bags that were not used during the work day. He was ticking things off from his mental to-do list while he closed the store.
You pulled on the door although there was a sticker that clearly instructed you to push it forward. You blamed it on the nervousness of this first date, and definitely not on the fact you had a bad track record when it came to understanding the basic functioning of doors. Your mistake caused the small bell to ring, indoors, notifying the man who was taking off a pink apron that you had arrived.
His smile spread from one ear to the other when he recognized you. His first thought was to tell you that you looked even prettier in person than you did on the photos the two of you exchanged and even on video call. It would be a waste, since you were still locked outside facing the ‘closed’ sign that he painted himself after hours of binge-watching calligraphy tutorials on the Internet. “Glad you could make it.” He spoke, once he finally opened the door.
The bell rang louder than the sound of his voice, but you still heard what he said. You apologized for being a few minutes left, which he dismissed by explaining you spared yourself the last clients who were a group of kids let loose on a sugar high spending their weekly allowance on lollipops and other sweets he sold along his chocolates.
The small talk was awful and painful, even. It felt strange to be thrown back on square one of your dating situation when neither of you could make it past beyond asking how was the weather and what was in the plans for the day. But, eventually, you broke this cursed spell of awkwardness. “I know everyone must say this when they visit you but it smells so good in here!” You were reassured when you heard Jake’s laugh. “I mean it, I don’t think I’ve smelled anything this delicious before.”
The hint of shyness that persisted through his smile disappeared. A light smirk lit up his face at your last few words. “I come here every day, but I try to cherish it like it’s both the first and the last time I’ll smell chocolate. Unless I accidentally burned it,” you both chuckled at the same time. “That’s a whole other story.”
He had shown you around the small boutique where the front counter and displays were basically squeezed against a few tables and mismatched chairs. There was an assortment of different wallpapers on the walls, covered by chalkboards that listed the different flavours and offers of the day. There were plants, real and fake, some photos displayed here and there, and upcycled barn doors that led the the kitchens. Everywhere you looked, there was a new detail to appreciate. It was almost overwhelming.
Jake caught you staring at his decoration and, while he grabbed a pair of clean tongs from the counter before him, explained the origins of some of the pieces that could your attention. He paid close attention to you, trying not to bore you or talk your ear out, although he was not sure he could stop himself even if he tried. This was his passion and his entire life, pretty much. His entire days consisted of running the shop and falling asleep while he came back home, often with his phone in his hand while he was texting you.
“Nice suit, by the way.” You pointed out. Although it sounded like mockery, the compliment was genuine. Not everybody could rock a brown suit, you thought to yourself, but it was quite fitting for someone who was surrounded by varying shades of brown all day long.
His cheeks turned a pale shade of red while he slid the door of the display closed. He offered you could try a few pieces, so you pretended to play the client although he was the one doing all the work. “Brown clothes are not the uniform, believe it or not. I wanted to dress up. Look nice.” He walked around the display and pointed his chin towards the table that was the closest. “For you.”
You smiled back at him. It was a sweet gesture, but you expected no less from someone who had proven to be quite thoughtful during the several weeks you spent texting and calling since you two had met on a dating app. You realized you could have put even more effort into your outfit, although nothing could have prepared you for your date looking like a chocolate bar on legs. “I matched my socks! That counts for something!”
He set a small tray on the table, between the two of you. There was an assortment of different chocolates. Some were heart shaped, some had a brushing of edible glitter or colouring on them, others looked plain and unassuming. Especially the last one, it was a quite large square of chocolate, nothing more nothing less.
You reached for this square first. You could get the boring one out of the way.
“Oh!” Jake exclaimed, rubbing his hands together with excitement. “That’s the best one. You have good taste.”
You refrained from explaining your reasoning behind your choice. “What makes it so special?”
He refrained from giving you a philosophical explanation about how what could make someone special resided on the inside and not on the outside, hence why the piece of chocolate looked unassuming. “You’ll see.”
You squinted your eyes quizzically at him, then you brought the square of chocolate to your mouth. You smelled it, quickly, before biting a corner. It smelled good, classic. It felt rich, coating your tongue with a chocolatey flavour unlike anything you had ever tried. You grinned and took another bite, trying to savour both the taste and the feeling.
“Told you, it’s the best one.” Jake reassured you and crossed his arms, leaning on the table. It brought him closer to you, in a way, so you leaned forward as well while you finished eating. There was pure excitement written all over his face, curiosity as well. He was looking forward to experience all of the chocolates through you, through your senses.
You could only describe the piece you ate as being delicious. Words failed to explain just how good it was, and how good it felt, strangely. You relaxed on your chair, as if the warmth that appeared in your mouth while eating started to spread all over your body. It must be the quality, the craftsmanship. Yeah, there was nothing more to it than the fact it was a product of fine cuisine and of luxury.
Jake explained the flavours of the rest of his selection. Cinnamon, raspberry, vanilla bean... He watched you as you tasted one after the other.
As good as they were, they could not even come close to the experience of your first taste. You wondered if it was just the sugar flowing through your veins, but it started to feel really hot in the boutique. It seemed like the lights were dimmed, too, or maybe the light bulb above your table was slowly dying. Or maybe it was getting impossibly darker outside or maybe... Maybe you had trouble making sense of the moment.
Jake’s eyes were dark, pupils blown wide. His smirk resurfaced but only grew darker after he licked his lips. He would never get enough of witnessing such a beautiful thing, and it was even better when it was you experiencing the growing euphoria of his work. “Just like anything else in the world of bakery, there is science to it.” He began talking, but it sounded, to you, like he was slurring his words and they barely made sense while they echoed in your mind. “You need the perfect conditions to temper chocolate properly. You need to be careful while pairing different flavours together while creating a new assortment. You need to preserve chocolate well, it cannot be too cold nor too hot, not even too humid or too dry. There is science in each step of the recipe.”
You nodded, but you did not catch any of the information he was throwing at you. You were too busy looking at him with heart shaped pupils, too busy biting on your own lip while you watched his move as he spoke. You looked down at his exposed neck, how the veins bulged and disappeared. You felt warm. Very warm.
“However, science has failed to accurately explain one tiny little detail about chocolate. That detail is, well, what you’re feeling right now.” He winked at you.
If you had full control of your senses, you would be able to tell this was taking a different turn than the sweet, both figuratively and literally, date you expected. But you were lucid enough to like what you were feeling. After weeks and weeks of texting and saying how much you were dying to meet. Of sensual phone calls and texts, of muffled moans and breathy wishes to finally be reunited so you could explore each other’s bodies. This felt right.
“Chocolate is presumed to contain chemicals that toy with certain parts of your body.” His eyes fell down to your lips, slowly getting swollen from the biting and licking you were doing. Then he looked down at where the table met your body and hid, only partially, how much you were squirming on your seat. Thighs closed tight, even tighter, or parted open, you were wiggling on the chair like you were unable to find comfort. “I care about what science says so that my chocolate reaches the right temperature to do whatever I want with it.” He marked a pause. “But I don’t care about scientists that deny just how good of an aphrodisiac chocolate can be.”
He asked if you agreed. You’d be a fool to lie, with how your body and mind were reacting to the delicious dessert he fed you. “Can we,” you took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes, where you could read even more lust and desire than on your previous video calls. “Go in the back?”
“I thought you’d never ask!”
It made you laugh, seeing Jake display excitement that matched yours.
He jumped to his feet and walked towards the door that lead to the kitchen. You snaked your way around the fridges and counters, all the way back to a tiny room that felt similar to the rest of the boutique: warm, cozy, but extremely squishy. There was no space to hide in there, it was designed for an employee on a break or for someone to snack on discarded pieces of chocolate after hours. “Do you mind if I...?” He arched his eyebrow, playfully, then looked down at the skirt you were wearing.
“Yeah! I mean no, just do something.” You were getting impatient, your body burning from the inside and craving some kind of release that you seemed unable to put into words.
Jake’s hands rested on your hips, the sudden and first touch you shared made you squeal. “Wait till we get to the good part.” He winked at you while you helped him scrunch up your skirt. He took a deep breath in and locked eyes with you. He wanted to make sure he was seeing nothing but approval for what was to come.
That was what he saw, but the way you brought his hand to your core confirmed it even more. You sighed audibly while he pressed his hand against your covered pussy, the fabric felt soaked and he could feel your warmth through it.
His mouth dropped open while he rubbed his hand in small, slow circles against the fabric. The more he moved, the louder your moans were getting. “Jesus, it really is working.” Reacting to your confusion, explained. “I didn’t make it all up on the spot, but... I wanted to impress you.”
He pushed your panties to the side and the first feeling of his fingers on your your pussy lips felt amazing, like hours of teasing and dirty talking and doing whatever you could to feel as turned on as possible. Except, it did not take hours, all you needed was a few bites of chocolate.
“Guess what?” Jake’s middle finger dipped between your lips and pressed against your clit. “I did impress you.”
You still had your hand wrapped around his wrist, keeping his fingers against you before he could even think of removing them. “I don’t think, oh my God,” you were caught off by Jake suddenly starting to rub your clit fast. “I can handle anymore talking.”
He understood and focused on making you feel good. It did not take long for you to feel a familiar knot in your stomach tightening the more he rubbed over your incredibly sensitive clit. You were standing somewhere between the pain of being touched so roughly while all of your senses were on high alert and wanting it to just keep going until the aphrodisiac wore off, or your body reached its limit. Both, you wanted to keep going until you tried both options.
When he teased your entrance, you threw your head back and felt your legs start to get wobbly. He guided you a few steps backwards to press your back against the wall so you felt just a little bit more stable, just enough for you to focus only on the sweet mixture of pain and pleasure.
He pushed a finger inside your hole, slowly, at first, but his own need to feel more of you took over and soon enough he was stretching you out with two fingers that he started to scissor inside of you, trying to stretch you out even more and let some of your arousal drip down his hand.
You could feel how wet you were, how his hand slipped against your slick folds so easily and how he had no trouble fucking your pussy and curling his two fingers inside you. It felt amazing, yet strange, yet it kept getting better.
“Getting close, baby?” You nodded at him before you tensed up at the feeling of his fingers on your clit again. “I know you are, but not yet. Yeah? Think you can hold it a little longer for me?”
You wanted to tell him you already did hold it, you waited to meet with him for weeks, you waited for the moment you would finally be reunited with him for so long. It was unfair to make you hold it any longer, but it felt so good.
You wrapped your arms around Jake’s neck, bringing him impossibly closer to you, sharing the same rushed, shallow breaths as he kept rubbing your clit. Harder, faster, tighter circles, he was doing everything to make your eyes roll to the back of your head.
He enjoyed it too, so much more than you could even imagine. He was hard, it was getting painful to stay restrained in his pants. He would take care of that later, reminiscing of your moans and mumbled incoherent begging. What mattered, for him, was to cherish the feeling of you as you were just about to explode on his hand. He was coated in you, his fingers pruned by your wetness. He loved how you leaned on him and used him to keep your balance, to keep standing up until he finally blessed you with the release you so desperately wanted and rightfully earned.
“Oh!” You screamed, the knot in your lower belly grew so big that it was exploding before he could pull away and edge you longer. “Oh my God!”
“Cum for me, baby, give it all to me.” Jake talked you through your orgasm, but the ringing in your ear and the sudden emptiness in your head made it impossible to listen to his words.
It felt amazing, stronger than anything you had ever felt before. You stopped breathing, eyes shut and face tensed up with pleasure as you grunted out, orgasm still going strong while Jake did not even let you catch your breath.
He fought through the growing pain in his wrist and rubbed you until you basically climbed off his hand, which took a little while longer to happen. He was truly impressed now, too, by just how much you could take until your instinct kicked in and let you process the pleasure you had just experienced. When you did slide off his hand, leaving the two of you messy and dripping with your juices, he was more impressed with the look he saw in your eyes. You were not finished. You wanted more, he could see it. He could feel it.
“Jake, please.” There was so much despair in your voice that it cracked as you begged him for more. You tried to press yourself against his body, now that he had moved his hand away, silently telling your date that you needed to feel him inside of you. And you needed it badly.
“No, sweetheart.” He licked his fingers clean, one after the other, like he would lick melted chocolate off them after tasting one of his creations. “I don’t do that on the first date.”
You whined and that made him laugh. You were so overwhelmed by all of the sensations you were experiencing, stuck somewhere between needing a break to recover from the incredible evening you were having and never wanting it to end so you could let Jake spread fireworks all over your body with his magic touch again and again.
“Come on, don’t be sad.” He brushed his thumb over your pouting lips. “That’s my way of asking you out on a second date, silly.” When your face lit up before his eyes, he reciprocated the relief and joy with a wide smile. He leaned closer to you, pressing chaste, open mouthed, kisses along the side of your neck and up to your ear. “No need to worry, the magic chocolate will be coming with me.” He whispered, his voice deep and low.
You would cherish whatever had happened, hoping you could remember any of it. Your mind was foggy, your vision was blurry but you could see that derpy smile of his so clearly. You would cherish this first moment you physically spent time together. You could not figure out if it was the aphrodisiac speaking, or perhaps the sugar rush, but you were already looking forward to another moment like this you could spend with Jake.

RING THE ALARM
Miraculous Ladybug: season 4 Alya sugar fic (based on the Alya exposes Lila's secrets prompt that I made)
Alya pov
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
"... Anansi has been rigging her wrestling matches! It's the only reason why she's made it as far as she has." was the only thing Alya needed to hear to send off alarm bells throughout her whole body. Why would Lila say something that wasn't true? Alya tried to correct her friend, thinking it had to be some type of mistake. At first, Lila was surpised her latest gossip target had a sister, but held fast to the truthfulness of her 'sources'. Alya tried to correct her again, and Lila got defensive over her friend 'attacking' her. Alya tried to fact check Lila one last time, then the green eyed monster finnally retaliated. All she had to claim was Alya harassing her and Kim, Nino, and Ms. Bustier swiftly came to her defence.
Within the blink of an eye, Alya landed in detention. Alone in her punishment, but togather with Marinette who had been a recent victim of the lying new girl. As her real friend comforted her, Alya finnaly realized her real mistake... how could Lila be friends with Maribug if she met her the same time as me? Alya finnaly gleaned the truth that Marinette had been warnning her for so long, and despite Marinette's affirmations of her being guiltless, Alya couldn't help but feel that this whole mess was her fault. What kind of journalist am I to be fooled by a school girl...
That's when a Light bulb appeared above her head. Alya is exactly the kind of journalist to solve this mess, and she will if it's the last thing she does. As soon as she got home, Alya began scowering the internet for every and any truth of Lila's claims. As she took more and more notes, she began to learn Lila's real specialty: half truths. All the photos she wowed the class of her meeting with Jagged Stone and traveling the world were real, but the "special connections" she claimed to have were all as fake as her hair. That was the real reason why Lila asked everyone to keep some of the things she said between classmates, it stopped anyone from reaching the truth. As Alya started getting ready for bed, Trixx whispered a devious plan into her ear. Normally, Alya would never agree to using the miraculous to spread a falsehood, but this mirage might be just what she needs to reveal the truth...
The next day at school was much the same; Ms. Bustier was forcing the class to write an eassy analyzing the theme of love in the popular children's book series, Hubert Porter, written by JC Bowling. Because of some of the research Alya did last night, she knew that Bustier and Bowling were the same person. She gussed that it isn't a crime to teach a class based on a book you wrote, but it was starting to get suspicious when Bustier did it three times in a row and ended each class by giving extra credit to the students who donated to the charity of her choice, a conservative group located in Florida of U.S.A.
"... and just the other day, Jagged Stone asked me to come with him on his latest tour! He got so sad when I had to tell him no!" Lila lied. Alya was almost impressed with how good the Italian was at doing it; Jagged went on tour just three days ago, but Alya was sure that he never asked Lila to come with him. Now's the time, Alya thought to herself. She go out of her seat and confronted Lila.
"Do you have any proof that Jagged Stone asked you to come with him on his tour" Alya flatly asked. Marinette got up to reel her back, but Alya gave her a look that said she has everything under control. Of course, Lila pulled her usual: she claimed that Alya was bullying her and that she just wanted to be friends. Kim jumped to her defence, as Lila filled the void that Chloe left when she went on extended vacation with her grandmother. That void being "evil chick that he can make googoo eyes at". Nino, who had started to hang out with Lila more then he was around Alya by the day, also jumped to the Italian's defense. He lectured Alya on all the ways he was "disappointed in her" and the like. Just as Ms. Bustier was about to send Alya to detention, she pulled out her trump card. "Lila's lying, and she admitted to it here!" Alta pulled out a voice recorder and pressed play. "If course I'm lying, and you can't do anything about it!" Lila's voice vindictively said.
And just like that, the class erupted into chaos. Nino got re-akumatized into Rocketear and targeted Lila for "breaking my heart". When it was over, the class all sang their swan songs to Marinette and Alya for believing some new girl over them. Except Nino, who seemed to think he was entitled to his girlfriend's forgiveness. Yeah no, their relationship is on hold and Alya is going to be too busy to come to the phone rifht now, but Nino was welcomed to leave a message. And he did. Like a lot. Alya regretted even making that suggestion. As usual, Ms. Bustier was the last person to get the hint and tried to punish Alya for (???) but this time Marinette came prepared. She discovered their lovesick teacher had fled Britain from a little too many taxes, and that was all that was needed to get her fired. After Alya learned that her choice of charity was a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist organization, she considered it good riddance.
And as for Lila, she quitely disappeared like she usually did with no sign of coming back. Good, Alya thought to herself, no one messes with my friends and gets away with it. To make sure no one forgot, Alya posted her experience onto the Ladyblog, where the truth would be known for years to come.
I challenged myself to use less dialogue in this fic and I hope you enjoy it!

if you don't mind, could you spare some pointers about archive work? i would love to try some but i honestly have no idea where to start.
happy to give some guidance since archiving is something i'm passionate about :)
my experience with archive work lies largely outside of mcr specifically, and subject area 100% impacts the archiving experience. that disclaimer in mind, i'm a history grad student, work with physical & digital archives, and managed a smaller one for a few years. on the fandom side of things, i run @thursdayarchive with nic @raytorosaurus (who is also a great resource for the specifics of mcr archiving & who suggested some advice given here!).
but you definitely don't have to have much experience to archive! archiving, at its root, is about assembling materials relevant and organizing them in a way that allows other people to access them. And this work is super, super important (esp since so much of mcr's history dates back to an era of the internet that is rapidly disappearing) & definitely doesn't require you to develop a sophisticated skill set.
There are three basic things to take into consideration when you're starting to archive:
Artifacts: What you collect
Personal organization: How you will keep track of what you find
The repository: How you will share your archive
Artifacts: Collect materials
Finding materials to share is the meat of the archiving experience, and often it's what takes the longest time. It can also be a little intimidating at first, especially considering the amount of unsourced photos that regularly float around mcr spaces. some notes on that end (mainly concerning photographs, since that tends to be the currency the mcr fandom deals in):
first, you don't have to just archive photos--the range of interesting materials related to mcr is vast. an archive might include photos, interviews, videos, magazine features, music, etc.
Consider what gaps might exist within fandom archives. MCR fans have run a number of really great archives in the past, so some work might not need to be done. Of course, those materials might not get circulated--and recovering it would be a worthwhile task. Perhaps recent interviews haven't been compiled and transcribed. Perhaps you can't believe that people aren't talking about a certain two-minute excerpt from a Frank podcast from five years ago. Perhaps you've noticed a dearth of photos of Mikey from 2010 in fandom spaces. Do what is interesting to you, but build on past archival work when you can. Honestly I can really see a need to keep track of a lot of the fan videos from the recent tour.
Decide if you want your archiving to center around a certain theme--like, a certain member of the band, a certain type of media, etc.
KEEP TRACK OF SOURCE CREDIT. the mcr fandom has been awful at keeping track of photo sources in the past, and as a result many of the most of the iconic photographs have been totally divorced from their source. Also, make sure that the person you're crediting is the actual original source.
On that note: while it might not seem like a big deal, reposting without a source is. Music photographers make their living by licensing their photos, and if a for-profit publication wants to use those photos but doesn't know photographer, they can't, and the photographer loses out on business. Non-professional photos really should be sourced, too. Fans in a photo might not want to have their picture spread around for a number of reasons (this specifically has happened in the mcr fandom, where a collection of photographs were reposted without permission from a private photobucket).
It's always easier to find photos at their source rather than sourcing photos that you already have. A lot of photographers post their pictures on their own archives, often on places like getty images, photobucket, flickr, and their personal websites. a lot of these sites are searchable, and they're a decent place to start.
keep track of the names of photographers and interviewers that you see often
familiarize yourself with archive.org. it is your friend when you encounter dead links.
it's also worthwhile to have a decent grasp on the mcr timeline, or at least know where to reference it. since i have a shit brain for remembering specific dates, i generally reference concertarchives (though it can be a little unreliable at times and warrants some cross-referencing).
Personal organization: Keep track of what you find
When you locate something you'd like to archive, you'll want to keep track of the information associated with it--in archiving, we call that metadata. This can be a bit of a headache in the moment, but integrating your own organizing systems is a lifesaver in the long run. Consider:
what kinds of information might interest your audience? Typically, I include source, date, location, people included (if it's a photo), and any other context that might be relevant to the source, if I can find it.
what is the easiest way to track that information? I keep a detailed spreadsheet for that purpose, but you might find it useful to archive the item onto your repository immediately. there's no one right way to do this step, but having a standard practice can help you avoid confusion or accidentally sharing incorrect details.
The repository: share your archive
The whole point of archiving is to share materials with other people--though this is certainly easier said that done. Your repository doesn't have to be anything more than your blog, but it deserves a decent amount of thought. Things to think about:
Where will you host your archive? Most of us will use Tumblr, and there's nothing wrong with that, but you don't have to. Places like dreamwidth and google drive can be useful platforms as well. If you stick with tumblr, consider if you want to use the blog you already use, or if you want to start a new blog for a clean slate.
You don't have to repost the content that you want to archive. Making lists of content by topic is incredibly important, and there is a decent amount of content that you wouldn't be able to upload on most platforms because of size and length restrictions.
How will you organize your repository? The easier someone can access something they're looking for on an archive, the more they will use it. Using specific tags to indicate certain features of an archive post is generally the most intuitive organization method, but you can also use other systems (like hyperlinks) if they work for you.
What kinds of information do you want people to find on your archive? Generally, if you use tags, you'll want to come up with a consistent system for general pieces of info like people, form of media, time period, etc. If you have a more specific archive topic or an interest, like you really want to log Mikey's sock collection during the bullets era or something, consider adding tags for that. You can have fun with these :)
Make it easy to figure out what kind of organization system your archive uses. This might mean a taglist, a general explanation of your methods, or some combination thereof.
I'm sure that I missed some points here, and as I said, a lot of this advice is a little more general because I haven't spent a lot of time doing archiving for MCR specifically, and it mainly pertains to archiving through photo uploading, but I hoped it answered some questions for anyone interested in getting into archiving. As always, i'm happy to answer any questions based on my own experiences :) happy archiving!!!

Unit 10: Finale
My personal ethics are a mix-bag due to living in multiple different cultures. I lived in Korea until 7. Then, I moved to the UAE and stayed there for 12 years. Now, I’ve been in Canada for the past 4 years. Throughout, some of the things I came to value are fairness, responsibility, and self-improvement. These ethics can translate, in multiple ways, to that of a natural interpreter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Casual photos of places I've lived in: Korea (top left), Abu Dhabi (top right), Guelph (bottom).
The fairness ethic of mine developed by experiencing a variety of cultures and peoples in my life. In the UAE, I went to an affluent international highschool, where I met people from all over. However, outside school, the UAE is full of low-wage immigrant workers and it becomes evident that they are underserved in various aspects of life. The UAE essentially has no middle class as you see in Canada - it’s either poor or high-middle class (or higher). In Canada, I experienced the full force of the oftentimes struggling middle class. Many of my friends are white and considered “privileged”, yet they have to work so much just to afford the basics.
Thus, I feel a responsibility, as a natural interpreter, to bring fairness to all. A core aspect of being a good interpreter is to serve a diverse audience (Beck et al., 2019, pg.132), especially if your goal is to spread the message of an environmental issue. This also ties into the concept of “unpacking” my privilege so as to not bias your interpretation to a certain group of people (Gallavan, n.d.).

Barriers create the “underserved populations” and by recognizing this, I can expand my reach towards these parts of society (Beck et al., 2019, pg.132). For instance, economics may be a key barrier towards a large part of the population, especially if they do not possess a personal vehicle or are busy with work (Beck et al., 2019, pg.133). Or, there may be cultural barriers where different groups have very different opinions about nature (Beck et al., 2019, pg.133).
Whatever the barrier, by “unpacking my privilege” and following my fairness ethics, I have the responsibility to reach out to give a fair chance to everyone. For example, if I were to work in a national park, I could make the effort to reduce economic barriers by advocating for cheap transportation (like a bus) to pick up people and at diverse times to allow for busy people to have an opportunity.
Also, as a “minority” myself, I oppose the idea of treating them differently just because they are a “minority”. I think my experience in Guelph exemplified a good approach that ensures fairness. Here, I have never once been treated differently just because I am Asian. If anything, people treated me like a fellow Canadian, even asking me who I voted for during the 2019 election. As such, I think it is important to recognize it is wrong to generalize a minority group (Beck et al., 2019, pg.133) and when making the special effort to reach out to them, don’t make it seem like a special treatment type of deal (Beck et al., 2019, pg.134). If possible, the best approach would be to treat everyone equally while keeping in mind who your current audience is. This can be done by friendly talking to them, asking why they're here, and even internet surveys (Beck et al., 2019, pg.129).
When it comes to responsibility and the self-improvement ethic, this is heavily tied to my Korean heritage. In Korean culture, you are always compared to others, and people have very high expectations of you. Almost feels like you are constantly carrying the weight of the world. Thus, if I don’t get perfect on a thing I am invested in (like academia), I become angry at myself. I think this is a toxic trait of mine but the positives can be used as a natural interpreter.

Having a sense of responsibility allows you to try to perfect your interpretation of nature. While this may be subjective, a good interpretation takes considerable effort, which may be lacklustre without a sense of responsibility for the environment. It is not a walk in the park to make an emotional and intellectual connection with the audience, communicated through nature (Beck et al., 2019, pg.304).
For instance, the usage of arts can tremendously benefit the interpretation. I believe even approaches like theatre and reenactments can be useful for natural interpretation. Having a diversity of approaches that targets all the senses help leave an impression (Beck et al., 2019, pg.107). However, these approaches require heavy investment into knowledge, making connections to the character, props, rehearsals and much more (Beck et al., 2019, pg.219). Only someone with a high sense of responsibility for the environment and position can tackle such a challenge.
With self-improvement, it will help further improve as an interpreter. By taking good feedback and reflecting on your doings (and if it meets your objectives), you can infinitely improve (Beck et al., 2019, pg.419). I think one of the best things you can do to do this is to invite other natural interpreter sites and become a "visitor" for your own sites (Beck et al., 2019, pg.420). Oftentimes, you know more than the audience and thus may leave out key details that the audience may not know. By fixing these issues, it makes the interpretation much more available for all audiences.
Finally, I want to talk about an approach that is suitable for me and others in my generation. We grew up with the rapid development of technology. Many might think this causes a disconnect between people and nature (Beck et al., 2019, pg.166). However, I believe we can use it to also reconnect. Websites, social media, Youtube, etc. have the presence of billions. As such, I see our technology literacy as a huge opportunity to reach those billions of people to reconnect nature into humans (Beck et al., 2019, pg.168).
Tumblr media
A foldable phone - a symbol of today's rapid technological development.
Overall, I have a long way to go to be an interpreter. However, I have still learnt much, especially in ways of scientific communication - a topic important in current science.
I hope people feel the same and good luck on the final stretch!

Pulse by Kiyoshi Kurosawa
The film「回路」which was localized as Pulse for the English release, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa in 2001, is a gloomy and unsettling horror movie that explores themes of loneliness and human connections.
By surrounding doors with red tape, one can create a "forbidden room”. This serves as a conduit for ghosts who have nowhere else to go in the afterlife, functioning as a “回路 (circuit)" through which they come into this world. They entice lonely individuals, drawing them into solitude and coming into our world. Initially, it might have been just a whim of the construction site worker, but gradually it gained momentum and spread. As the dots on a computer screen illustrate, humans are not interconnected individually; rather, they're fragmented. Despite our tendency to yearn for closeness when we drift apart from others, we're fragile beings who perish when too close. Observing such lonely individuals, "they" watch for the unguarded moment and impart the method of creating the "forbidden room". This 回路/circuit grows rapidly, ultimately causing the disappearance of townspeople and plunging the world into chaos.
The protagonist, Michi, differs from others by actively engaging with people and attempting to solve problems. She checks on Taguchi, who stops coming to work, shows concern for Yabe, takes care of Junko, who became disturbed after seeing a ghost, searches for the missing president, visits her parents, and suggests and assists Ryosuke in finding Harue. It is because of her proactive nature that she remains unaffected by the influence of “them" until the end. However, there is concern for her future, especially considering her statement “I was happy with my last friend."
The film incorporates elements that prompt reflection on life and death. Harue feels despair within her loneliness and becomes intrigued by the afterlife. As the circuit expands and people with whom she has a connection at least disappear, her despair reaches its peak. Sensing the presence of ghosts watching over her, she finds solace in not being alone and chooses death (i.e., opting for the world where they exist). In contrast, Ryosuke longs for the realization of an immortality drug, wishing to live forever. Despite actively engaging with people by showing concern for Harue and talking to Michi, there are no scenes depicting him with anyone else like friends or family. Therefore, he likely seeks connection with others, evident from his foray into the internet despite his lack of understanding of its workings. Both characters, despite their different directions, remain solitary and avoid confronting death. So, are people inevitably lonely whether they are alive or dead? If we borrow the words of the deceased, who speak of death as eternal loneliness, it seems that death is just a line, and life after death is a continuation of the current state. Therefore, instead of despairing over loneliness or death, it is crucial to cherish connections with others as much as possible.
Given the premise that the ghostly realm overflows into our world in the film, it's possible that those who have turned into black marks or have committed suicide might not even be capable of dying. The woman who jumped to her death and Harue showed no signs of blood. It seems more plausible that fearing the "eternal loneliness after death”, they simply vanished into solitude. Also, the reason the “口" in the "回" character of the opening credits of “回路/Pulse" was red might symbolize the doors sealed with red tape. In other words, it likely represents the circuit connecting this world and the afterlife, existing within our world.
The use of high-angle shots from a diagonally tilted angle, reminiscent of the perspective of ghosts, news segments framing missing persons with black borders (reminiscent of remains photo frame), sudden cessation of sound, and voices pleading for help over the phone contributed to the eerie atmosphere of this film. To be honest, these techniques were more unsettling than direct appearances of ghosts. Additionally, memorable scenes involving mirrors and reflections, such as the covered mirror in Harue's room or the projection of one's own back in the monitor, the library’s maze-like structure, and the convenience store clerk visible from the interior through a two-way mirror in the backyard, added to the sense of unease, because mirrors are often used to symbolize the connection between the afterlife and the mortal world, such as in the case of parallel mirrors.

If this wing design pops up on any store besides mine, it’s an illegal copy. For months now, overseas factories have been making rip-offs of my Titania fairy wing design as flapping wings, & they're showing up all over the web, undercutting me. Them making flapping wings itself is not the issue, the issue is they're ripping off this specific design. Jordan and I both knew that eventually, big factories would make  cheap versions of them. But they're ripping off my *specific* original wing designs to do it. Color variations don’t make it legal. Changing it 10% doesn’t make it legal, that's a myth. I'm the ONLY legit seller of this wing design. I filed with USCBP to stop imports at the border, but I don’t know if they’ll all be caught. I send removal notices, but anyone dealing with this knows certain sites are terrible at actually doing anything. Even when they do, these companies then file FALSE counterclaims, claiming rights they don't have, which means it can then go right back up within 10 business days unless I get a court order. The new Copyright Claims Board means we can now file 'Misrepresentation of a Claim' to fight some of them, but it still costs us. It adds up. I know the hot topic right now is AI art, but this actual blatant type of theft has been an even bigger problem without comparable media coverage or outcry. The real problem is a broken system. We need our education systems to teach about internet etiquette & copyright law, and better systems in place to protect us. DMCA laws need to be updated to better hold huge platforms accountable. They ignore us too often. Hell, maybe they can use AI to create an automatic detection & royalty system any time our designs & images are posted elsewhere online, wouldn't that be nice? Or divert funds from counterfeits to the original artist? YT does it with musicians' music, why not visual art? Please spread the word, don’t buy counterfeits! And if you haven't yet, see my 'Copyright' Highlight. The spread of copies of my photos without credit perpetuates the problem, small infringements often lead to more harmful ones.

Why is Liana Kerzner so obsessed with slandering Emily Schooley?
Since I've had a few of Liana's flying monkeys repeatedly try unsuccessfully to convince others that I am someone other than who I am, I am making this follow-up post to address the lies being spread by a jealous, malignant narcissist, which are a form of damage control, meant to deflect from and conceal her own abusive actions.
First, it's important to take note that Liana and her husband Steven like to blame literally EVERYONE who criticizes them on secretly being Emily, any time the person isn't posting under a handle they recognize. But what is more likely? That ONE single person would spend 15+ years obsessively spreading hate and lies on the internet, or that Liana has caused harm to MANY people over the years and that these multiple, independent accounts of abusive actions by Liana and Steven Kerzner are true?
Now, some facts. Emily Schooley is a successful working actor and filmmaker in her own right - and that information is 100% independently verifiable, even if Emily hasn't yet had a lot of public recognition or press for her work. For example, Emily is affiliated with the Canadian Film Centre. She has received multiple grants from the Canada Arts Council. A couple minutes spent searching this information will give reliable third-party evidence, and I imagine these are pretty substantial organizations in Canada that are hard to get into.
Given that Liana's own television career tanked spectacularly in the mid-late-aughts, and that Liana herself has acheived very little notable recognition or success without riding her husband's coattails or playing victim for attention while attacking someone more famous (Katee Sackhoff, Anita Sarkeesian, Hasan Piker, etc) it's not a far stretch to think she might be just a wee bit jealous of a younger redhead who was being cast in feature films and stage plays when Liana and Emily were supposedly IRL friends. Not to mention the number of times that Liana has since disparaged Emily as an "aspiring" actress, pretending that Emily only had unpaid extra work to her name when in reality Emily has a pretty robust IMDB credit page with a substantial variety of projects.
There's also the fact that Emily has provided multiple receipts across multiple forms of media that concretely prove Liana is lying about her. This here truthbomb is the big one, because anyone who takes literally five seconds to look at this information can see who is telling the truth here. Example: Liana claimed that Emily's ex (who is a friend of Liana's, fyi) had never been abusive. Meanwhile, Emily's ex himself admits openly in a text conversation to physically assaulting her, saying "I choked you because…" BIG YIKES.
Liana has also accused Emily of doctoring her receipts, meanwhile Liana only provided partial screencaps if any while Emily has provided both the full screencaps AND a video AND photos which would be a lot harder to fake. You see, narcissists will often accuse the other party of doing what they themselves have done as a means of deflecting from their own bad behaviour. Not to mention that it was only AFTER Emily started talking about her struggles with PTSD that Liana suddenly claimed to have PTSD as well. This is Liana playing the victim and DARVOing yet again, another thing that narcissists do when their bad behaviour is challenged or exposed to others.
Liana herself has also admitted (on video! on her Youtube channel!) that she is a violent and vindictive person, she even admits to physically assaulting her supposed best friend on prom night, for example. So, unless this information was another lie, Liana also has an established pattern of behaviour of attacking other women for perceived slights, going back many years. It's not a far stretch to assume that Liana did the same thing to Emily in this situation, but using toxic gossip and slander instead of physical violence. Given that Emily has been quite open, transparent, and vocal about holding the Kerzners accountable for the way they treated her and what went down between them, it's no wonder Liana has worked overtime to spread lies about Emily and ruin her reputation, because the one thing narcissists hate the most is having their bad behavior exposed to the wider public.
Now, my own reasons for posting about Liana as I have been are largely because I don't want to see her preying on and causing harm to more vulnerable people, like those in the trans and neurodivergent communities, as she is now soliciting people into paying for her "not therapy wink wink nudge nudge" bullshit. (Meanwhile, Liana is a university dropout with no professional credentials in this area, just fyi).
And, until Liana takes full accountability for the past harms she has caused to others and has apologized accordingly for her actions, I will continue to tell other people about her abusive and harmful behaviors as and how I see fit.
If Liana Kerzner didn't want her despicable and abusive narcissistic behaviours made known publicly, then she should have treated people better in the first place or take some actual accountability for once. 🤷‍♀️

The Idea of Watermarking (and how to do it)
Tumblr media
As an aspiring photographer, there is a small (and optional) rule that we follow and that is to watermark your work. This is so that people will know who originally took it (if the logo is identifiable) and to prove that you own the photo.
I’ve done it a few times and you can see them mostly the events gallery because those pictures were hard to take as they require me to go outside and talk to people (and I’m introverted af!).
But what if there is a photo you took and you need to post it immediately? How will you watermark it? Is it even worth watermarking?
This post will answer that!
Tumblr media
If you follow me on social media and you’re part of the Phandom, then ya’ll should have seen this photo being circulated all over Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram during the last two days.
This my fellow readers is my meet and greet photo with Dan and Phil during the Cool For Summer Festival in Sydney Olympic Park in 2017. I got a Platinum VIP pass so it means not only I get to meet Dan and Phil but I also get first priority entry. I was supposed to be second in line but I swapped places with my friend Tani and I became third in line.
Tumblr media
This is basically what happened during the meet and greet:
So I walked in and gave Dan and Phil a hug. But before that, I played Hello Internet and Dan wanted to walk away. Yup… I actually had bluetooth speakers on me and blasted Dan’s first video before hugging them. But Dan wasn’t upset, he laughed. He said that playing that was ‘iconic’ then we hugged. (And if you’re concerned, I only played ‘Hi my name is Dan’ then stopped the video).
I hugged Dan first then Phil. After hugging they signed my book and talked about TATINOF then told them about my journalism assignment that I used the tour for it and got a B+ on it and they told me to give a shout out to the journalism teacher.
Then came the pose. I told them ‘well, since you’ve been talking about Lazytown in your previous live streams, I want to do the iconic sportarobbie pose from season 3’
I showed the the pose on my iPod and Dan then asked who is robbie rotten. He first suggested me but i said i wanted dan to do it. We did the pose i wanted and surprisingly, that pose was reposted multiple times on Instagram and Tumblr.
I told them about the Philippine phandom and they also told me to give them a shout out well. Sadly couldn’t be recorded.
I then said thank you and left happy.
As stated above, the photo was reposted multiple times on social media and spread like wildfire, gaining 3k+ likes as I’m writing this post right now. TBH, I pretty much expected that to happen since the pose is just soo good!
instagram
Since I knew that this photo will eventually spread, I’ve decided to watermark my image. I was reading a few comments about this in both Twitter and Instagram about my decision and only a few people were butt hurt over my decision. They think its problematic and just a stupid of me to do it. But I don’t care since it’s my photo + I told my family and friends about my decision and they think it was a good idea, that it was smart of me to do so.
I’ve seen my fair share of mass repost of meet and greet photos and they were used in edits, videos and etc that it’s a thing in the phandom to crop the fan out. TBH, I don’t care if I get cropped out but I do care when they claim the photo as theirs without crediting the original owner. I’ve seen people who were literally upset when this happened to them (from m&g pics to art edits) and it sucks.
I didn’t want to watermark my pictures in the first place but unfortunately I posted a pic from TATINOF last year and people used it, making it look like its their photo. I wasn’t credited whatsoever (and it was a hard photo to take btw).
The photo I’m talking about is this:
Tumblr media
It was a scene from TATINOF Sydney that I took using my iPad and not only people were mad at me for taking this photo, but used it in their ‘oh it’s been x months since TATINOF’ and stuff like that. And I needed this photo for my journalism assignment btw!
So after I took my meet and greet photo, I went to sit somewhere less hectic  and began to watermark my photo. I posted it and the jokes just keeps on flying about the idea of me watermarking it. Despite most of the comments were about how cute the pic was, how I was a genius for doing this and how Dan is falling towards Phil is just phan goals, but the messages about the watermark hurt me a bit… like 1% damage.
My pose, people can easily crop me out, I’ve seen a few that did and once again… more comments about my decision. Most common is something around the lines off ‘Can’t crop this b*tch out anymore’ and something related to that. So I’ve released a statement on Instagram (where I first shared the pic) and there was lots of support about my choice and people understood why I did it.
instagram
Some have also told me that thanks to what I did, they also intend to watermark their future meet and greet pictures as well if they know it will go viral.
The purpose of the watermark is to show/prove that the photo is yours and no one can claim it’s theirs. Its permanent and unless you’re really good with photoshop, it’s hard to get rid off.
When it comes to my professional work, I usually watermark the bottom part of my photo as I want a clear shot of my pic as well as to easily identify that I took it.
Normally, I use Adobe Lightroom to watermark my works but when it comes to meet and greets, you need to upload them fast… Like the first 1 hour fast!
So how did I do it?
A few people asked what app I used to create my watermark. For those who ask, it’s called Enlight and it’s like Photoshop on your phone. It cost $5.99 AUD (but I got it for free when it was App of the Week 2 years ago)
Tumblr media
It’s a really good app! I love to play around with it from time to time and IS REALLY USEFUL to fix really bad selfies like this one:
instagram
(Hi Pat if you’re reading this… sorry if this selfie is being used for a blog post about watermark advice)
I needed to edit that on the spot! I didn’t want to do it at home! Also this was two selfies, just layered on top of each other and made it black and white cuz the coloured version looked like shit and made it obvious that it was edited.
But asides its use for fixing bad selfies, it’s also good for watermarks. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the PNG file of my logo on my phone so I just wrote my username.
Enlight is really handy and is good for last min edits or quick access to watermarking on the go. It’s also good with edits but that for another post.
Please note I’m not being sponsored by Lightricks Ltd. (the makers of Enlight). I just love the app. Glad I got it for free during App of the Week.
Now, every repost of my pose has my username at least spotted in the photo. You can crop me out but my name will still be seen… unless you’re a fan of Dan’s legs… then I have no control over that one.
But yeah… that’s my reason why I will now watermark my phan meet and greets and how you can do it on your mobile!
Happy watermarking!

Far too many pics of the Palais Garnier (Part One!)
With these pictures, I really tried to focus on capturing close up details of things that aren’t often seen in common photos. That said, this post is going to be all exterior shots. I will share interior shots in subsequent posts. As I make them, I'll link them together. Enjoy!

These are the doors under the arches on the face of the building. In the past, these would have been the entrances for the “common folk” that attended the opera.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This sculpture was my favorite one on the exterior just for the details of the reflection in the hand mirror.
Tumblr media
This is the view of the street when you stand directly on the steps in front of the Opera. To the right, there is a really interesting cafe. Opening in 1862, Cafe de la Paix is definitely somewhere Raoul and Christine could have shared a romantic meal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Historically, I believe this would have been one of the entrances for wealthy patrons of the Opera, like our favorite Vicomte. Now, its a restaurant, CoCo. We didn't get a chance to eat there, as it seemed to be a black-tie sort of place. The surrounding area of the Opera was all very upscale, lots of luxury storefronts and other fancy restaurants.

The modern entrance to the box office is right behind this awesome tribute to the man himself, Charles Garnier.

What are Bots? Definition and Roles: Explore the Useful and the Harmful - Technology Org
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/what-are-bots-definition-and-roles-explore-the-useful-and-the-harmful-technology-org/
What are Bots? Definition and Roles: Explore the Useful and the Harmful - Technology Org
Over the past thirty years, the way we seek information has changed dramatically. For our ancestors, the main sources of information were books, newspapers, and gossip. A little later, they were joined by radio and television, and today the most important medium is the Internet. The ability to get an almost instant answer to any question was unthinkable in the early 1990s.
A laptop in the dark background – illustrative photo. Omegle was a project intended for entertainment and communication, aimed at meeting new people. This, however, was also its weakest point. Image credit: Philipp Katzenberger via Unsplash, free license
Today, if we don’t know something, we type it into Google: “What is SEO?”, “How do I launch a Google Ads campaign?”, “What causes a 500 error on my website?” and in a split second, we get hundreds of results that explain the SEO acronym, tell us step by step how to launch a Google Ads campaign, or what can cause a 500 error on a website and how to fix it. Who does it? Few people think about how Google knows these answers. These assistants are bots. Let’s take a closer look at them, namely, such representatives as traffic bot in this article. As well as a lot of useful general information.
How did it happen that we got a comprehensive answer to a question that none of our friends could answer in a split second? Let’s take a closer look.
Definition of the ‘Bot’
The bot traffic internet – is a computer program whose task is to perform automated actions on the network. Considering bot traffic meaning, internet bots are commonly used for useful as well as harmful activities. Depending on the application, an Internet bot can mimic the actions of a human to interact with a real person.
Types of Internet bots
We can divide computer programs of this type into several types. Among the most popular of these are:
indexing bot – collects various information about websites, for example, Googlebot;
scraper bot – used to read data from websites to, for example, purchase a certain product or inform about a discounted price. Bots of this type often save data for later analysis;
spam bot – a robot that collects email addresses, which are then used to send spam;
social media bot – generates messages on social media, often supporting a specific idea. Very often, they create fake accounts that are used to increase the number of followers. This is particularly evident on the Twitter platform;
download bot – its purpose is to download files, which can result, for example, in boosting statistics for a particular application in the app store. Bots of this type can be used for DDoS attacks;
automatic purchase bot – a bot whose job is to automatically purchase a commodity, such as a concert ticket or stock, for later resale at a profit;
virus spreading bot – an Internet robot whose purpose is to steal data or infect a host. Criminals can use such bots to obtain information of interest. Computers infected in this way can later be used for DDoS attacks via that kind of bot traffic meaning;
chatbot – a bot used to communicate in text form in place of a human. It uses advanced NLP algorithms and artificial iintelligence,or, in its simplest form, answers questions containing predetermined phrases. Even companies have emerged that offer easy-to-configure commercial chatbots that can be integrated into websites or profiles on social media platforms. Facebook allows you to create a bot to communicate on Messenger;
voicebot – a robot whose purpose is to conduct voice conversations with customers.
Bots work much faster than humans. They can perform complex actions, and besides, their actions can be coordinated.
Internet bots have become a part of reality for good. The uses of Internet robots range from very useful, such as indexing Internet resources, to very malicious, such as infecting people with malware.
What is Googlebot, and how does it work?
Googlebot, like similar robots, is a program whose purpose is to scan websites or crawl. Googlebot mimics human behavior and, while browsing sites, “clicks” on links it finds. In this way, it arrives at brand-new subpages or at subpages that it analyzed some time ago. Thanks to the work of Google’s web robots, new subpages are added to the search engine’s index, and the content of previously scanned subpages is updated to its current state.
Speaking of Googlebot, we must distinguish several versions of it that specialize in crawling a certain type of content.
Some bots are used by Google’s search engine to index and refresh indexed pages, while others use other products and services. Each is specialized in indexing different types of content, which they do for different purposes. Some Googlebots mimic computer users, others are smartphone users, some scan only image files, others only videos, and so on. Below, we at SmartHub have listed the most important types of Googlebots that visit websites:
Googlebot indexing smartphone sites – mimics smartphone and mobile device users, indexes websites,
Computer Googlebot – mimics desktop users, indexes websites,
Googlebot Image – indexes images, photos, and graphics for Google Graphics,
Googlebot News – indexes news,
Googlebot Video – indexes video content,
AdsBot – is responsible for checking the content of ads on websites displayed on computers.
Why don’t Google robots index a website?
The process of indexing seems simple, and theoretically, after creating a new website and following the described instructions, we can “force” its content to be indexed within a few days.
Summary
As you can see, search engine robots, especially Googlebots, are extremely useful programs, without which it would be virtually impossible to use the Internet as we do today. It is thanks to them that when we type queries in search engines, we get comprehensive answers. It is the robots that are responsible for getting our site into the search engine, and the copy stored by the search engine is regularly updated. So if you have a website, it is worthwhile to adjust it to make it friendly to Google’s robots. If you don’t have the skills to adjust the code of your site yourself, I encourage you to enlist the help of SmartHub specialists, who will optimize your site to meet the requirements of Google Bots and help you position it for keywords related to your business on the site.

I don't know if it's smart of me to subpost like that, but holy hell the false equivalency of comparing "AI" art to smart photo filters is making my blood boil. I firmly disagree with copyright as a legal concept, but proper attribution is still part of the social contract. I can hate that companies can routinely block technological improvements from being spread industry-wide, and still disapprove of cases where it is used without credit to the engineers/programmers behind the tech. And AI "art" basically does the latter routinely and globally to all art on the internet. And presenting AI-protection dataset poisoning as the solution as if it like... can be retroactively installed on art posted decades ago? As if it was on us for not being smart enough to protect our art with algorithms that didn't even exist yet? Being an IP abolitionist doesn't mean you should be condoning art theft, and I *will* call you a dick if you conflate the two, end of that.
IP abolition should come from a place of anti-capitalism, not anti-crediting. And considering *who and what* is pushing AI art, I don't fucking trust you if you do too.
