A gently reminder to any on this community that even when books and other medias bring a lot of new info as beginner, in some point you will need to stop.
Not because learn is bad, but because you also need to grow your own mind. Sit, question what you learn, compare it with different point of views, be critic, listen, specially to the ones who tell you that you are wrong, be creative, keep thinking and learning, made up things, keep questioning everything. Be skeptical, but don't be cynical.
Don't focus too much on how pretty it looks, in copy exactly the recipe of the spell. Don't hoard culture that you don't belong, look for alternatives, learn to resign and say "I don't belong to this, I can't use this". Accept, evolve. Make a path of cobblestones implies bend your head, clean the weed, get dirty, work hard, and put one cobblestone at time. There is no shame in walk back and remake your path better. Is not a race, you don't need to rush to reach a goal, the path must be right, not fancy or fast.
If you just focus in read and puke exactly what you read in a book, you didn't discover anything new, you didn't grow a better understanding, you are not doing what a witch must do.
As a friend said: You just replace the Cross with the Pentacle.

It's very important in these dates to talk about the subject of #culturalappropiation and the difference between it and #culturalappreciation And since I already talked about it in spanish, let's repeat some points in English (But with different words as I am not working with a script!) Meanwhile, I keep drawing the #buildingblockswebcomic #Tarot and don't forget, I'm promoting the #kickstarter of #chavelachocolateycthulhu where #chavelavargas🇨🇷🇲🇽 fights Nazis in Mexico! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/calicochimera/chavela-chocolate-y-cthulhu

"Legos usage of Māori and Polynesian cultures and their borrowing of Māori terminology to use as fantasy terms in early Bionicle was really insensitive and they should’ve either hired a Māori consultant/sensitivity-checker or outright had a Māori as a member on the creative team to make sure that the series wasnt stepping on toes of marginalized groups", "The Polynesian and Māori elements in early Bionicle were done not out of malice but in good faith, as they were implemented due to co-creator Alistair Swinerton finding the culture intriguing and wanting to use concrete culture as a basis to the storys setting rather than just using a vague tribal island setting the Boneheads of Voodo Island prototype had, which was far more stereotypical and culturally insensitive than anything in the final product", "While the setting was done in good faith and certainly feels like a lot of love and research was poured in, it feels rather clumsy and whitewashed due to been made by white people which gives a lot of unfortunate implications given the series uses the aesthetics of an marginalized culture who has been colonized and trampled on in its past so its understandable to be on edge with it all", "A lot of Bionicle fans love how unique the tribal island aesthetic of it's early years was and feel it lost a lot of it's identity when it traded the island aesthetic to much more typical science fiction setting with typical western fantasy tropes mixed in", "The whole Māori controversy is often sensationalized and exgarrated by the fans and is nowhere as dramatic as a lot of retellings make it out to be", "Its impottant to discuss about problematic and insensitive elements of a work of fiction you like as long as youre doing it in good faith rather than to try to put it and its fans down", "While discussing and acknowledging early Bionicles cultural appropiation is important the discussion is often really circular and done by people who do not belong to the Māori culture, thus speaking over the culture this is about", "You can still like Bionicle and dont have to bring up how you are aware of the series shoddier elements every time you talk about it" and "The series does have Māori fans who really like the series and dont have many issues with how it handles their culture" are all takes that can and should coexist actually.

remember, the body takes precedence over innerworld things. alters can have any appearance, sure. but their race is what the body is. it's also not wrong to use icons that are reflective of their innerworld appearance, as long as they disclose their race when asked.

But they can’t extend this thought process to Chris himself. A lot of Team PR doesn’t actually care about racism as something that is actively hateful and harmful, it’s just a tool to rage at Alba. They will act like they’re mad but quickly become more interested in finding all kinds of reasons to excuse Chris. The mere appearance of racism whatever the motive behind it should be enough. They’re only “upset” with him because he is with her, not because of his own actions. They don’t treat they’re “concerns” seriously enough for me to take them seriously. The PR vs Real debate is just an avoidance tactic.
Unfortunately I think you are right; excuse my bluntness but Alba and her friends are scum to me; what I don’t get is supposedly being disgusted by her and her friends and then turn around and still thirst for Chris and excuse him; if Alba is problematic by association then what does that make him, who associates with her?
To some, the issue with this relationship is what it unveils about his character. And to be honest this portugang just gives off bad bad energy. But to others the issue is that he simply… wants to be with her.
