A few years ago I posted about my friend Amber who needed funds to be listed for a double lung transplant. She managed to fight and fight hard to get her health stable enough where she didnt need one anymore. Unfortunately as someone with Cystic Fibrosis, a lung transplant is inevitable. She is now back to the point of needing one. As of yesterday, she is officially on the list for new lungs! Congrats Amber. I LOVE YOU. <3

INHALED ANTIBIOTIC FOR PSEUDOMONAS IN CF SHOWS SAFETY IN EARLY TRIAL

A novel inhaled antibiotic called iMPV, developed by biotech company Spexis to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, showed a promising safety profile in a first trial conducted in healthy volunteers.

The therapy contains the antibiotic murepavadin and is designed to be inhaled through the mouth. It has shown efficacy against P. aeruginosa strains that are resistant to many other commonly used antibiotics.

Today was an amazing, beautiful, cold, crazy day. This was the 19th annual Plunge, I was so fortunate to be a part of it, all to raise money for transplant funds for 5 of us. I honestly can’t believe people ran into the frozen Atlantic Ocean, there was literally ice floating. They said this is the coldest the water has been since they started the plunge. My mom even went in a little bit!! Kudos to her, because I was uncontrollably shaking from just standing outside!! Whenever I look at the picture I posted five days ago (my two sons playing Nintendo Switch in the living room), my eyes are drawn to the empty space on the couch. That's where Caety always sat. It was her spot because her therapy vest and nebulizer machine were there between the couch and love seat. (They’re still there. You can see her pink bathrobe draped over the vest machine in the other photo.) She always had a pile of books in front of her on the coffee table. 📚 She should be there in that recent picture with her brothers, watching them play video games while she does her treatments. Longing to see her in her spot again, I looked for a photo of her there, and found this one with her brother from 2009. It's not enough of course.
