obi wan before the fall of the republic is sooooo fun and flippant and quippy and he's so full of life and even though he's experienced so much pain and loss, he has so much love in his life, and even though he's fighting in a war he never wanted to be a part of, and even though this war goes against who he wants to be, he fights it because it's his duty and he's proud to be a jedi, he loves to help and has a bleeding heart for all the pathetic lifeforms of the galaxy. and he's so confident, so sure, that one day this war will end and he can go back to his life before, where they will he at peace and his family will be with him and even though he's suffered so much, it will be time to heal.
and then it never comes. and everything he loved is gone, burned and destroyed beyond recognition, the republic in shambles, his friends all massacred, and all that's left of his best friend, his brother, his closest companion throughout this terrible war are his newborn children. and obi-wan can't even know them. and he retires to a shitty desert planet - the same one anakin came from - and all the grief hits him at once and it is fucking overwhelming. it's like he's drowning in it. there's no way out. his only lifeline is occasionally getting to see luke from afar. he has lost everything and even then still has more to lose - he just doesn't know it yet

Hello, do you have any recs for star wars books and comics with the best lukeleia content? In my lukeleia era and I really wanna start reading some OT legends stuff but I don’t know where to start.
Stories that take place during, between, and shortly after the Original Trilogy? We are lucky to have decades worth of content set in this time period! It’s the only place we can find things published before the sibling reveal, and/or acknowledging that Luke and Leia were attracted to each other.
✨I’ve included links to every book and comic mentioned below. I don’t think it’s immoral to pirate from a corporation. If you (general) take issue with that, I have bought most items listed at least once, and I would lend it to you if I could.
✨Some of the comics are only available in large collections, you may need to scroll to find the correct issues.
Legends Books
The first that comes to mind is Splinter of the Mind’s Eye. It was published in 1978, Luke and Leia were still love interests, and it takes place after ANH. They crash land on a mining planet and discover there is an Imperial presence there.
Fun Facts:
This story was commissioned to be a low budget sequel if A New Hope flopped.
This novel also inspired some of the canon lore for kyber crystals.
I started an impromptu reread earlier this year, and I did not remember how shippy this book was. This is just four pages into the book:
Tumblr media
Splinter of the Mind’s Eye was also adapted into a comic in 1995… and it was still incredibly shippy? I recommend both if you have the time and executive function. If you’re low on focus or time, go with the comic.
I’ve been told the novelization of A New Hope also has the same vibes, and is by the same author. So if you enjoy Splinter thats another place to look.
As far as other novels, we’re mostly looking at crumbs. Off the top of my head I know both Shadows of the Empire and The Truce at Bakura acknowledge their feelings for each other.
Shadows of the Empire:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Truce at Bakura:
Tumblr media
I would only recommend these if you’re interested in the rest of either story.
Shadows is a take on what happened between ESB and ROTJ, published in ‘96. Want to see how the Rebels get the plans for the Second Death Star? Read this. Want to see Darth Vader forced to play politics? Read this. If Han and Leia’s relationship is a no go for you, you might consider skipping it. Content Warning: the antagonist attempts to “seduce” Leia via pheromones. Read: rape. He is a serial rapist.
Truce takes place immediately after ROTJ, and has some great character moments for our heroes, again a lot of focus on Leia and Han. I do, however, choose to view the fact that Luke’s love interest in this book is a young Imperial Senator who we are meant to compare to Leia, through a shippy lense. I cannot escape the idea that Luke is projecting. Otherwise this book is about dinosaur looking aliens using human’s life energy to power their ships.
If you’re interested in checking any of these books out I recommend looking here or here.
Legends Comics
Splinter of the Mind’s Eye (1995)—as mentioned above.
Star Wars Tales (1999-2005) 15, Do or Do Not—Takes place immediately after ROTJ. Luke is processing after the Battle of Endor, and uncertain of his place. His feelings for Leia are acknowledged.
Star Wars (2013) 1-6, In the Shadow of Yavin—Takes pace after ANH. Leia is working with a handpicked X-wing squadron, to expose a spy. Her position in command causes friction between her and Luke. This is one of the few stories really leans into Leia having feelings for Luke.
Star Wars (2013) 15-18, Rebel Girl—Leia accepts a political proposal in exchange for a secure base location. Luke is a jealous brat about it, puts himself in danger, and plans to run away.
Marvel Star Wars (‘77–86)—I haven’t read these yet, but I’ve seen plenty of panels and pages posted on Tumblr that give lukeleia vibes, even some that take place after ROTJ. These have been gathered into several omnibuses. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
Disney Comics
Star Wars (2015) 1-6, Skywalker Strikes—After ANH, the gang is infiltrating an Imperial arms factory, Vader shows up, Luke has a crisis. The Luke and Leia interactions are primarily in issues 3 & 4, but it’s a solid story arc.
Star Wars (2015) 33–Actual Publisher’s Summary: The Hero of the Rebellion & the Princess of the Revolution! Luke and Leia finally get some time alone… Unfortunately, it's stranded on a desert island.
The Storms of Crait (2017)—After ANH. Our heroes travel to Crait, in hopes of establishing a base there. Luke is delightfully flustered by a kiss on the cheek from Leia.
Star Wars Adventures (2017) 4 & 5, The Trouble at Tibrin—Leia and Luke are on a diplomatic mission that goes awry. Leia rescues Luke in this one. Acknowledges Luke’s feelings.
Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018, Mind Your Manners—Another diplomatic mission gone wrong. Not all that shippy, but discovered it while making this list, so it felt wrong to leave it off.
Star Wars Adventures (2020) 7 & 8, The Princess and the Bog, A Twin Tale—Leia and Luke are scouting base locations. Luke is terrible at following Leia’s orders, and wants to pet all the animals.
Star Wars Hyperspace Stories (2022) 2–Another search for a base location. There are several cute moments between them in this one.
Deleted Scenes & Behind The Scenes
I know the ask was about books and novels, but I’d also recommend—if you haven’t already—searching for deleted scenes, alternate takes, behind the scenes photos and promo photos, etc. There are goodies from each film, but the most substantial stuff is from/for ESB.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is That Everything?
I doubt it. There are many other stories that take place in this time frame that I haven’t investigated yet. Here are some that are on my list:
Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor (Legends novel)
Heir to the Jedi (Canon novel)
Heart of the Jedi (unpublished Legends novel)
Star Wars (1977-1986) (Legends comics) (mentioned above)
Star Wars (2020) aka Star Wars V3 (Canon comics)
Razor’s Edge & Honor Among Thieves (Legends novel duology)
I’d bet on there being content down the timeline that reads as shippy, but that’s a whole future post.

p2 of “general Kenobi” idea: obi’s ghost comes in when Luke and reader are kissing(? up to you, they could just be cuddling! whatever you’re comfortable with). And just gives them a pep-talk about attachments / dark side tendencies co-related to relationships. Fluff with angst :)

Careful not to get caught, you grab Luke's hand and drag him with you as soon as the debriefing of another succesful mission is over, leading the way to the meditation chamber which Leia had specifically set up on the rebel base. A place where you can fully surrender and become one with the Force.
It has become a tradition for Luke and you to spend your time there. When he is by your side, you feel the Force so much more intensely.
On the mission you promised each other that you would meditate as soon as you got back, just to calm down and rest for a bit, your minds somehow connecting.
Along the way to the chamber, you keep exchanging little gestures of love, kissing or teasing each other, laughing and enjoying each other's company. The presence of another soul has never felt so good as it does with Luke. From your very first encounter, you sensed that there was a deeper connection between the two of you and, as it turned out later, you were right.
Your love is so strong it can overcome even the darkest of times.
Arriving in front of the meditation chamber, Luke stops abruptly, pulling you closer, and kisses you on the lips another time. As if he just can't let you go. Which he, in fact, can't, because the way you feel about him perfectly mirrors the way he feels about you.
You deepen the innocent kiss with a smile, pushing yourself against him, but immediately pull back, startled, when the door to the chamber suddenly opens and a blue glow greets you. Your father, in all his Force ghost glory, stands in front of you now, one eyebrow raised as he looks between you and Luke.
A little embarrassed, you move away from Luke completely, your hands intertwined for a moment longer before you sever that connection as well.
"Dad, w-what are you doing here?", you ask, puzzled, because he does not usually just appear out of the blue. There is always a reason and the current one is not yet fully clear to you.
"I need to talk to you about something", he says earnestly, and your pulse immediately increases. Luke, not sure how to interpret Obi-Wan's behaviour either, looks at you, probably sensing the change of emotion. When your father turns around, motioning for you to follow him without using words, you do just that. Inside, he sits down on one of the meditation pads, and you follow him suit, now sitting across from him.
"So..?", you urge him on since he does not say anything even after several seconds have passed and his face shows a deep frown, a sign that something is troubling him. And when Obi-Wan Kenobi is worried about something, it is usually not a good sign. Not at all.
"As you know", your father finally begins with a sigh, but does not look at either of you, just rubbing his hands together. "I gave you my blessing. For your- For your relationship, I mean. I know you have a deep connection with each other and your feelings are genuine and I am here to fully support that."
Not knowing where this conversation is headed, you look over at Luke, who looks at your father in both confusion and admiration. Neither of you expected this topic, that much is clear.
"Luke, I have never seen my daughter happier. And for that, and for so much more actually, I am infinitely grateful", Obi-Wan explains, now looking directly at Luke with a forced smile. "But I just can't help thinking about your father, Luke, and what love did to him."
His words struck like lightning and neither of you say anything, your mind too busy processing your father's concern and what he is hinting at. Luke, however, does not need any time.
"What love did to him? Love almost saved him when nothing else could", Luke replies, sadness and anger mixing in his voice.
"Love is what got him to the point that he needed saving in the first place", Obi-Wan adds and you can feel the sorrow that comes with saying the words out loud. "Anakin's love for your mother turned into something far more dangerous: attachment. Because when you are attached to someone, then you are inable to let go of them. All you want to do is possess and control them, but he forgot that, in the end, they have their own fate."
"That is not true! He loved her so much he would have done anything for her to live and when that didn't work out, he changed", Luke replies, his eyes filling with tears, his hand clenched into a fist at his side. Suddenly, your own eyes feel glassy too.
"And that is exactly the problem, Luke. Don't you see it? Your father would have burned the whole galaxy down for her and only that is how the dark side was able to seduce him. Palpatine would never have been able to corrupt him otherwise", your father continues, and if you did not know better, it seems like it pains him just as much as Luke, if not worse. "You can love people and protect them but you have to be able to let them go."
"Did you.. Did you let Mom go back then?", your voice suddenly interrupts, but you do not even know how those words made it out of your mouth. Especially in one piece as a tear finds its way down your cheek, followed by a sob.
Apparently, your father did not expect such a question either, because the pain that you thought you could see on his face when talking about his brother suddenly worsened.
He never liked talking about your mother, let alone her death, but when you see him sitting in front of you right now, his head hung low, completely devastated, you wish he were sitting there in his physical form so you could hold him tight in your arms. You can't even remember how it felt to hug him.
"Yes", is all he gets past the lump in his throat with a heavy heart, and when your eyes meet, you feel a terrible pain in your heart. Although he let her go, he was not able to save her in the end.
But he had you and his love for you dissolved all negativity, all bad thoughts, the dark side.
"All I'm asking of you is to not do the same mistakes", your father says in a slightly clearer voice, turning back to Luke. "Please. When the time comes, let her go."

CHAPTER SIX: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
Pairing; Luke Skywalker, Reader / Past Lando Calrissian, Reader Warnings; even more pining, even more angst, MENTION OF TORTURE (Not in detail), minor cursing, negative on that kiss captain.  Word Count; 21.7k
ONE  TWO  THREE  FOUR  FIVE
Summary;  It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy. AN; Sorry for the large gap in posts, I lost inspiration to write this for a bit, but here it is! Not a lot of Luke in this chapter, sadly. Hopefully it isn’t a long time before chapter 7. I’m also trying a new method of splitting sections so let me know what you guys think :D  thank you for reading! I appreciate each and every one of you and I'm grateful for the support :>>
THIS IS NOT EDITED
It was bright outside when Rogue Two landed in the bay, opening the exit ramp to allow other medical droids and doctors in. Han swatted all their hands away, not answering any of their questions as he pushed down his fur laced hood, sniffling. His nose was bright pink, his cheeks a similar color.
You stood off to the side while Leia ran past, ignoring Han completely to look for Luke.
“Took you long enough,” you jest, scrunching your nose at the wafting smell of dead Tauntaun.
“Got a little caught up-”
“You smell like a dead Tauntaun.”
He stares at you for a moment before scoffing, shrugging his shoulders, “how else were we supposed to survive?”
You groan, pinching your nose, “that's foul, even for you.”
“They’re taking him to the med wing, after spending time in the bacta tank he should be fine,” Leia sighs, smiling softly. Han nods his head.
“What a welcoming party, Princess, glad to know you care about my well-being.”
She shakes her head, glaring towards him before following the med droids that pushed Luke along on a gurney.
Han places a hand onto your shoulder, giving it a squeeze before sniffling again, “he’ll be fine, no need to get your pants in a twist.”
You glare at him, “you both could have died.”
“But we didn’t!”
“You better apologize to Chewie, he was a wreck without you.”
You didn’t stay long while Luke was in the bacta tank. It was hard to watch, with the cuts on his face and chest slowly sewing themselves back together. He only wore weighted shorts to keep him under the gelatinous slime that was bacta, a breathing apparatus strapped to his face while med droids and doctors scurried around him to make sure he didn’t suddenly flatline.
Leaning against the wall, you ignore the presence of Han and Leia to your right, their shoulders lightly brushing against each other. Leia was pressing her fingers to her lips, rubbing the skin as she watched the droids work.
Ever since you woke up yesterday, the days just seemed to get worse and worse. First the Falcon, the ever constant flow of problems from other X-Wings, then the fact Han went after Luke like it was what he’s been preparing for since the day he was born.
When the droids turn in your group's direction to talk about his vitals, you take it as your time to leave while you can. The last thing you wanted was to hear how Luke was close to death if not for Han. Pushing away the worry, you force yourself down the hallway, passing by lingering pilots and other personnel before finally making it back to the hangar where the Falcon was.
Chewie was still perched on the wing, swinging his legs back and forth as he messed with the tools. He almost looked small on the Falcon, but as you grew closer, so did his size.
“Hey, Chewie!” You shout, pausing under his line of sight. He growls, nodding his head in greeting. The hangar was mostly empty, only one or two other pilots visible by their ships. You make your way to the ladder, carefully climbing until you reach the top, stepping over the mess of tools to sit beside him. He hands you a circuit board, waving his hands about as he complains.
“What, it's not working again?” You ask, using your nail to slowly scrape off the soot from flaming wires. It was dated, a few cycles old by now but it was working fine the last time the ship was in the air. Then again, you can’t seem to place where on the ship the part came from.
“Which part is this, again?” You look up at the Wookiee, who throws his hands up in annoyance, jerking to point to the open compartment behind you. You nod, crawling over until you can dive head first into the compartment. You feel Chewie grab your ankle, scared of you getting stuck, but you lightly kick away his hand.
Being in the Falcon gives you a sense of comfort when the galaxy seems against you. It was the best place to be while Han and Leia fought all day, while Luke got himself lost and beaten out in the snowy graveyard they call a planet.
Chewie’s still talking, his voice muffled through the metal while you look over the other circuit boards and wires. Sticking your hand out, you yell at him to hand you specific tools, and he hands them to you, still talking.
“I swear I just fixed this,” grumbling, you try and reweld some wires together, effectively connecting them to the now, hopefully, fixed board.
You don’t leave the Falcon until Han drags you to the medwing. It was a couple hours later, Luke being discharged from the Bacta tank and put into his own room. Han still hasn’t taken a shower, being in a hurry to see Luke before he goes back to sleep. He told you Threepio and R2 were waiting outside his room, while Leia was still talking with the Med-droids.
“Shouldn’t you shower first?” You cringe, putting Chewie in between you both so you didn’t smell the sour stench.
“I think that Tauntaun did my hair justice, It hasn’t looked this good since Lando gave me that cream.”
You roll your eyes, smiling at the memory, “Lando never did you justice- nothing does your hair justice, Han.”
“I’m offended, (Y/n), really- I am,” he gasps, leaning over to slap your shoulder before entering the room.
Luke looks tired, sitting up in the bed while playing with the stray threads of the thin blanket. He wore an oversized shirt, only pink scars remaining on his face.
Threepio doesn't hesitate to move past Han, throwing his hands into the air.
“Master Luke, it's so good to see you fully functional again,” Threepio beams, hands moving about as R2 whistles.
“How ya’ feeling kid?” Han asks, bending down to look over his face, Chewie placing a hand onto his pillow to softly growl and bark his regards, “you don't look so bad to me. In fact, you look strong enough to pull the ears off a gundark.”
Luke chuckles, his smile not reaching his eyes, “thanks to you.”
You manage to squeeze in between the two before Han points to the younger, narrowing his eyes, “that's two you owe me, junior.”
Reaching a hand, you place two fingers underneath his chin, lifting his head lightly. His smile softens when looking at you, and you can’t help but mirror it. Your thumb barely touches the skin below one scar, brushing across it lightly.
“It was stupid to go out by yourself,” you say. He painfully smiles, shrugging his shoulders.
“You’re lucky Han was even more stupid to go out after you,” you lightly thumb over the scar under his eye, “but it’ll heal nicely, you’ll be good-to-go in no-time.”
When you pull away to stand, you glare at a smiling Han, who's giving you raised eyebrows and a little shoulder bump. It wasn’t until Leia walked in that Han dropped it, turning to face the Princess.
“Well your worship, looks like you managed to keep us around a little longer!”
She crosses her arms, haughtily saying, “I had nothing to do with it, General Rieekan thinks it's dangerous for any ship to leave the system until we’ve activated the energy shield.”
Settling onto the foot of the bed, you pinch Luke’s leg, smirking at him when he jerks it away. You look between the arguing pair, their attention solely on each other.
“That’s a good story, you just can’t let a gorgeous guy like me out of your sight,” Han crosses his arms, leaning against the bed. Luke rolls his eyes, looking at you with raised eyebrows. You shrug, frowning.
Leia finally sighs, “I don’t know where you get your delusions, laser brain.”
Chewie laughs, holding onto the door frame while lightly jabbing Han’s shoulder. He jumps form his spot clearly enjoying himself, “Laugh it up fuzz-ball, you didn’t see us alone in the south passage.”
“South passage?” You snicker softly, smirking at her while she darts her eyes between you and Luke. You could see him frowning, eyebrows furrowed as his arms crossed over his chest.
Han hums, wrapping one arm around Leia’s shoulder while giving a smug smile, “she expressed her true feelings for me.”
Cheeks pink, Leia looks between the three of you before pulling away, stuttering her words, “my-” finally composing herself, she huffs, “why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy looking’- nerf herder!”
“Nerf herder?” You choke, hand covering your mouth to stop yourself from laughing. Han whips around, glaring at her, “who’s scruffy looking’?”
“Han-” you wheeze, almost grabbing his arm but missing as he moves closer to Luke, bending down to his level.
“I must’ve hit pretty close to the mark to get her all riled up like that, huh, kid?”
You shake your head when you see Leia’s face fall. Her eyes glaze over for just a moment before her shoulders tense, arms dropping to her sides as she marches closer. When you try and grab her arm, she yanks if from your grip harshly, your smile diminishing.
“Well,” she scoffs, looking up at Han with a glare, “I guess you don’t know everything about women yet?”
With that, she leans forwards and grabs Luke’ cheeks, planting her lips on his. It goes silent, Threepio stepping forwards to see, looking at Han, and then you. Mouth parting, you find it hard to breathe all of a sudden, a crushing weight in your chest overtaking the once light hearted feeling.
Han stares with wide eyes, arms still crossed when Leia pulls away, looking directly at him before leaving the room. He stares at Luke, who was still dumbstruck, and when he looks at you his eyes soften. His arms slowly drop to his sides but you can’t stop staring at Luke.
He doesn’t look back, just closes his eyes and proudly puts his hands behind his head, sighing in contentment. Your mind seemed to run miles a minute, while also being oddly silent. Maybe it was the smug look he gave to Han, or the way he completely ignored your presence the moment Leia had kissed him.
You wouldn’t have noticed the pounding in your ears if it wasn’t for the alarm going off in the hall, Han lightly grabbing your arms to pull you along. Luke looks at you, frowning when he sees the glare Han sends him, who lightly pats his chest, “take it easy, kid.”
“Headquarters personnel, report to command center”
“What-” Luke tries to grab your hand, to ask what was wrong, but you’re just out of reach. When he blinks, you’re already gone.
Han and Chewie silently walk beside you towards the control center, your ears still ringing.
“(Y/n)-”
You hold up a hand, glaring over your shoulder, “I don’t want to hear it. It’s fine- I’m fine.”
The walk to the control center didn’t give you enough time to center yourself, trying with all you had to scrub the image from your mind. Rieekan nodded to you both as you walked to the console screen, Chewie peering over your shoulders.
“Princess, we have a visitor,” he says, gesturing for her to come over. You didn’t want to see her, at least for the rest of the day. Rieekan points to the screen another officer was stationed, “we’ve picked up something outside the base in zone twelve, moving east.”
The senior controller looks up, his headphones only covering one ear, “It's metal.”
Leia was already there, arms crossed as she looked down at the console. Stuffing her hands into her back pockets, head tilting to get a good look at the screen, “then it couldn’t be one of those creatures.”
“Could be one of our speeders,” you choke, clearing your throat.
The senior controller shakes his head, “no. Wait- there's something very weak coming through.”
You all lean in slightly to try and make out the garbled text, but Threepio steps forwards, raising a hand.
“Sir, I am fluent in six-million forms of communication. This signal is not used by the Alliance. It could be an Imperial Code.”
The transmission quickly cut off, leaving your small group in silence. Rieekan takes a moment to look between the three of you, Chewie also looking over the group, and you knew he couldn’t help but notice the tension that was slowly building up.
Han huffs, hands on his hips, “well, whatever it is, it isn’t friendly, common, Chewie- (Y/n), let’s check it out.”
“General, send Rouges Ten and Eleven to station three-eight,” Rieekan nods, pushing himself away from the console.
“Remind me, when we get back, to never leave the Falcon,” you strain, trudging through the snow with your thick boots. The fur lining of your jacket gets stuck between your lips, and your blaster is freezing in your hand, even though you had thick gloves on.
“You’re starting to sound like me,” Han jests, crouching behind a snow bank. There was a high-pitched beeping from the other side, and when you peer over, you finally see what was making the garbled transmission.
It was a small probe droid, floating just a few feet above the snow. Its head continued to rotate slowly, and when its antennas slowly raised, it let out piercing signals before moving on. It was fully black, except for the bright red eye on its front. The Empire's sigil painted on its side, almost too small to see.
“Definitely Imperial,” you grumble, shuffling back down the bank as Han looks over his blaster once more. You were just waiting on Chewie now, who was making his way around to create a distraction. Then, you and Han would shoot it down.
Han’s eyebrows were furrowed, grumbling softly under his breath, and it was almost drowned out by the wind, but you managed to catch snippets.
“I’m sure the Princess feels the same way, would you stop drowning yourself over it?”
“Now's not the time for this,” he says. It's silent for a few more moments, then his head snaps in your direction, “how could she, when she kisses another guy in front of me? And what about your pouting about the kid, huh? Doesn’t seem like I’m the only one upset.”
“I’d rather not talk about it right now, Han.”
“You’re the one who brought it up!” He’s teasing you now, the corners of his lips upturning as he reaches out to slap the top of your jacket.
“If you actually talked to Luke like I told you to months ago, we wouldn’t be in this predicament, now would we?”
“There’s nothing for us to talk about,” you snap, glaring over at him. He’s still smiling, and when he raises a finger at you, your head drops back against the snow bank.
“I know that look, you’re not slick like you think you are.”
Chewie finally making a distraction cuts you short, and you both dive back over the snow to fire at the droid. Its attention was fully on Chewie, and it allowed for you to shoot right at its most vulnerable spot. It sharply spins, managing to fire at the bank of snow before Han manages to get a few shots in, the entire droid blowing into pieces. Sending a look to Han, you both make your way over the bank to inspect the destroyed metal. Chewie meets you, bending down to try and touch it, but it is still smoking.
Han sighs, lifting his com, “We’ve got the problem.”
“What is it?” Leia’s voice cuts back not too long after.
“Appears to be a droid of some kind, I didn’t hit it that hard, I must have self-destructed.”
You look back over the snow, wondering how many others were there. Squinting your eyes, you look back towards the base, seeing the closed hanger doors. One one was open, allowing you in and out.
“An Imperial Probe Droid.”
Scoffing, you shake your head, Han shares your look, “No doubt the Empire knows we’re here.”
There's a pause from the other end, and this time it's Rieekan’s voice that cuts through, “Make your way back, we’re starting evacuation.”
“Evac? Already?” You ask, getting no response from Rieekan or Leia. Han gently grabs the fabric of your jacket, pulling you back towards the base.
“I thought you knew nowhere was safe for us at this point, kid.”
The snow crunches under your boots, and the wind now blows harshly against your cheeks.
“Yeah, well. Sorry for thinking we were safe on a snowy-death-planet in the middle of nowhere.”
When you make it back to base, you take off the thick jacket, exchanging it for your more comfortable leather one. You, Han, and Chewie now worked on the remaining broken bits of the Falcon, doing your best to get it in the air as fast as you could. Evacuation was starting slow, people still packing up tools and equipment to store onto the ships.
“Would you please put the helmet on right?!” You groan, watching from the ground as Han only lifted the mask to his face. Chewie was in the cockpit, and Han continued to work on the remaining bits that didn’t allow the Falcon to fly. Han waves a hand in your direction, standing as he drops the mask to his side.
“Alright! Let's try it!”
When Chewie starts the Falcon, however, the whole compartment Han was fixing burst into flame, an alarm going off when the smoke rose. Han, frantic, yells out to Chewie, “Turn it off! Off!”
After turning it off, Chewie leaves the Falcon to tend to one of the landing gears, ruffling your hair as he passes. Han was talking with one of the repair droids, and you continued work on more wiring by the broken landing gear.
Turning to exchange your tools with ones you hoped would work, you heard Luke’s voice again, or rather, his laughter as Chewie growled and barked. When you turn back, you take a deep breath when you see him. The last time was when he just got out of the bacta tank, when Leia kissed him.
Luke doesn’t notice you yet, turning to look up at Han, who stood leaned up against one of the Falcons wings. He wore a flight suit, his helmet in one hand as he spoke to Han. The two didn’t need to say much to get what they wanted to say across.
It wasn’t until he turned to leave did he see you, and he stopped. There's a nervous look in his eyes when he walks to you, and you only tilt your head.
“I don’t think you’re evacuating with everyone else,” you say softly, watching his soft eyes flicker between yours.
“They need me out there,” there's hesitation in his voice, hands fumbling with his helmet before continuing, “About what happened-”
“We’ll talk when you get back, okay?”
He sighs heavily, eyes clenching shut before he reaches forwards, grabbing your hand with his free one.
“It’s important to me, I don’t want-”
“Luke,” you can't help but interrupt, and by the look he has, you were scared at what he was going to say.
Giving a strained smile, you squeeze his hand in comfort, “we’ll talk later.”
He doesn’t say anything else, just nods and begins to pull away. There's still that uncertain look in his eyes, and it makes your heart throb.
“Don’t do anything stupid, blondie.”
Just nodding, Luke turns and makes his way into the hangar. No doubt going to help the others in the Rogue squadron before going anywhere else.
“(Y/n)! I could use some help up here!”
“Yeah, yeah,” you grumble, making your way up the ladder. Han was crouched over one of the landing gear components, and Chewie was bending himself in half to fix the remaining parts of the wing.
“What is it?”
He throws one of the tools your way, and you catch it, crouching down next to him to rework damaged wires.
“Did you tell him?”
You throw him a glare, “did you tell her?”
Chewie barks and you watch as he shakes his head.
“No, Chewie, you need to rework the wires so we can get her back in the air!”
There was an explosion, and Han grabbed your arm, both of you looking to the slowly cracking ceiling.
“Well, that doesn’t look too good,” you grumble, trying to get your cold hands to work faster. After the wing was done, you would be able to evacuate and rendezvous with Leia and the others.
You both work in silence, trying to finish the gear before the Empire bursts through the ceiling. Sweating under your jacket, your shaking hands continue to thread the wires. It wasn’t a beautiful job, but it would hold until you were in a safe place, then you would be able to thoroughly fix it.
“No, Chewie!” Han pushes himself up, throwing the tool down, “that one goes here, that one there, right?”
“Would you stop bickering! We don’t have time for this!” You shout, covering your head when the base is hit once more, snow falling from the ceiling. It smacks against the wings, ice sprinkling over your shoulders.
“Where's the princess?” You ask.
“Probably still in the control room, I’ll get her to the transport, you two keep working.”
“Han!” You throw the tools down, the wires finished, “Hurry, we won't leave without you.”
“I’m always quick!”
You turn back to Chewie, nodding, “come on, let’s close everything up. Hopefully-” you scrunch your eyebrows, patting the ship lightly, “she’ll actually start.”
Chewie barks, waiting until you climb down the ladder. The panels were shut and screwed back into place, the tools discarded in the snow as you rushed onto the ship, turning into the small closet that held the inner workings.
“Alright baby,” you whisper, eyes frantically moving, “let me hear you, yeah?”
Your fingers were freezing, almost having lost feeling. It doesn't stop you from reworking the wires, checking the diagnostic from the panel on the wall. You can faintly hear Chewie bark, yelling out the entry ramp before he rushes onto the falcon.
“Hurry up, goldenrod! Or you’ll be a permanent resident!” Han shouts, going straight to you.
“How’s it looking?”
“I don’t know! In reality she needs to be on for me to actually fix this stuff!”
Chewie shuts the entry ramp, rushing into the cock-pit. There's another explosion in the hangar, the entire ship shaking as ice crashes onto the roof. Han is busy at the control panel, yelling to you in hopes of getting the ship to start.
“How’s this?!” He yells, and suddenly you're being sprayed with smoke. Yelping, you shout at him to turn it off, Chewie barking negatively from the cock-pit. Finally leaving the small closet, you join Han at the panel, looking over the multitude of buttons and switches.
“Try that one,” you say before rushing back. This time, nothing bad happens, and you take it as a win.
“Would it help if I got out and pushed?” Leia asks sarcastically, Han glaring at her, “it might!”
Threepio makes his way over, hand raised, “Captain Solo! Captain Solo! Might I suggest that-”
Han cuts him off, glaring at the droid with deadly eyes and a raised finger.
“It can wait.”
Following Han into the cock-pit, you flip the necessary buttons before sitting down in your chair, spinning to raise the deflector shields.
“This bucket of bolts is never going to get us past that blockade.” Leia hisses, watching Han move around the small space.
“This baby’s got a few surprises left in her, sweetheart.”
Looking out the window, you spot multiple Stormtroopers rushing into the hanger. Looking at Han with wide eyes, you slap his arm, “we need to go! Stormtrooper’s are coming in!”
Swinging back around, you pull down on a small lever by your feet, a turret dropping from under the wing. Aiming it, you shoot towards the Troopers, all of them scrambling around to find cover.
Leia straps in next to you, and Han in his seat. Chewie runs in seconds later, strapping himself in while Han starts the Falcon.
“Come on! Switch over,” he calls to Chewie, “let's hope we don't have a burnout.”
A blaster bolts hits the windshield right by Chewie’s head, the Wookiee yelping as he pulls back on the controls. The engine finally fires and a giant smile crawls onto Hans’ face, his head turning to briefly look at Leia.
“See?”
“Someday you’re going to be wrong, and I hope I’m there to see it.”
“Let's go!” You shout, pulling the turret back into the ship, kicking Han’s seat, “punch it!”
He didn’t need to be told twice, accelerating out of the hangar. Staying close to the ground, Han waits until he’s a bit further away form the base to make his way out of the atmosphere. But of course, the blockade is waiting. The ship wouldn’t be able to survive any of the firepower from the Star destroyers, so he would have to weave his way through.
Chewie lets out a howl, and Han quickly checks over the panel before nodding, “I see them.”
“See what?!” Leia asks, hands gripping onto the seat. You continuously checked the state of the Falcon from what was around you, and it didn’t look good. You can hear, and feel, the oncoming fire from the Tie’s on your tail.
“Two Star Destroyers, coming right at us.”
You can hear Threepio bang and stumble his way into the Falcon, holding onto the door frame for stability.
“Sir! Sir!” He cries, “Might I suggest-”
Han doesn’t let him finish, again, turning sharply to point at Leia, “shut him up or shut him down!” He turns back to Chewie, sweat running down his temple, “check the deflector shields.”
Readjusting an overhead switch, Chewie barks his reply, causing Han to sigh, “Well great, we can still outmaneuver them.”
This catches your attention, leaning out into the small space between the seats, “what did he say?”
“The shields are down-”
“What!?”
“It's fine! You’re flying with the greatest pilot to ever live!”
Suddenly, Han changes course. The Falcon starts to fly in the direction of two Star Destroyers, before taking a steep nose dive. Yelping, you and Leia try to stabilize yourself, grabbing onto whatever you could as Han flies recklessly.
“Kriff! Han! I’m gonna kill you!”
From above, the now three Star Destroyers try to maneuver away from each other, and it almost seems like they collide into each other.
“Prepare to make the jump to light-speed,” Han growls, trying to dodge more of the blaster fire from the oncoming Tie’s.
“But Sir!” Threepio cries, picking himself up from the floor.
Leia pulls herself in between your seats, eyebrows scrunched, “they’re getting closer!”
“Oh yeah?” Han taunts, rolling his shoulders as he grabs the lever for light-speed, “watch this.”
He presses forwards, but nothing happens. The Falcon only produces a soft whine, your stomach sinks, and you watch with wide eyes as Han looks between you and Chewie.
“Watch what?” Leia asks, rocking back into her seat when the ship jerks.
“I think we’re in trouble,” you say softly, and when Han tries it again, the engine stalls.
“Sir,” Threepio says, “If I may say so, I noticed that the hyperdrive motivator has been damaged. It's impossible for us to go to light speed!”
“We’re in trouble.”
Unbuckling your belt, you follow Han into the main hold, “what's your plan now, Han!” You yell, watching him frantically move about the different panels. He falls to his knees, unlocking the floor panel. It was heavy, and he was barely able to lift it.
“No clue! Just get up there and fly this ship before we get shot out of space!”
“Kriffing hell,” you grumble, turning back and running to the cockpit. Chewie meets you in the doorway, lightly grabbing your arms before you fall. He growls, motioning behind you before letting go to join Han.
Falling down into his seat, you glance at Leia as she sits beside you, staring at the radar.
“They’re hot on us,” she says.
Scoffing, you try and maneuver around bolts, but some still manage to hit, “oh really? I thought we lost them!”
The ship shakes once more, “you know how to fly this hunk of junk?”
“I’ve flown it long before Han even knew she existed-” you say, glaring her way before turning sharply, narrowly missing an asteroid. Hissing, you briefly glance at the radar before staring ahead, sighing.
“That doesn't look too good.”
Leia looks like she’s about to say something, but you point out in front, her eyes following. Ahead of the ship was a wide field of asteroids, the belt spanning across the entire windshield of the Falcon.
You don’t see the asteroid that looms next to the falcon, yelping when the ship lurches on impact.
“Get Han up here, “ you stress, looking at her when she doesn’t move, “now!”
“Han!” she calls over the com, “get up here!”
It didn’t take long for Chewie and Han to appear back in the cock-pit, you and Leia both moving out of the way so they could sit. Han whistles slowly, scanning the field before driving into it. He was mad, you thought. Or, he's always been mad and now it's finally showing.
“Chewie, set two-seven-one.”
Standing behind the Wookiee, you grab onto his seat for support.
“You’re not actually going into the asteroid field, right?”
Han only scoffs, “they’d be crazy to follow us, wouldn’t they?”
There's a thump against the hold, and you and Leia both wince. Threepio stands behind Han, his golden head shaking back and forth, “Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately three-thousand, seven hundred and twenty to one!”
“Never tell me the odds!” Han growls
The Falcon turns into the belt, now going against the large, looming rocks. Han bobs and weaves through them, stark silent as he piloted. Threepio keeps yelping when one comes too close, shielding his eyes when two collide into each other, smaller rocks scattering across and Han doesn’t hesitate to fly through it. The ship rocks violently, forcing you and Leia to sit back and buckle yourselves in.
“You said you wanted to be around when I made a mistake; well, this could be it, sweetheart.”
Leia shakes her head, “Well I take it back, we’re going to get pulverized if we stay out here much longer.”
“Pulverized?” Threepio echo's softly.
“I should’ve stayed back on Hoth-” you wheeze, clenching your eyes shut when two asteroids collide into each other.
Ignoring you, Han cocks his head, “I’m going in closer to one of the big ones.”
“Closer?!” You exclaim, Leia following.
The large rock floats into view, Han piloting down near the surface until dipping down into a large crater, following it into a small ravine, two Tie’s follow closely.
“We’re going to die,” you wince, shutting your eyes tightly as the end comes closer. Han shakes his head, “no we’re not!”
Sharply jerking the ship, it easily slips through onto its side. The ravine went into another crater, Han pulling the ship out of it without any Tie’s following.
“Oh, this is suicide! There's nowhere to go!” Threepio shouts, hysterical by now.
“There. That looks pretty good,” Han murmurs, pointing to a large hole.
“What looks pretty good?” You ask, pulling yourself back up after undoing your belt, following Han’s finger until you spot it.
“Excuse me, ma'am, where are we going?” Threepio asks, but you don't reply. Watching as the Falcon dives into it.
The cave is almost pitch black, the lights in the cock-pit the only source of light.
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” Leia says softly, hands grabbing the back of his seat.
“Yeah,” he replies with a frown, “me too.”
There's a small opening off to the side, and Han carefully sets down the Falcon, slouching into his seat before getting up, leaving the cockpit while grumbling profanities under his breath. Looking out the windshield, you can’t tell how big the cave was since it was pitch black. Chewie flicks on the lights, illuminating a wall of fog that rested over the ground.
When Han enters the cockpit once more, he and Chewie make haste by turning off all the electronics. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see the worried look on Leia’s face as she watches him.
“I’m going to shut down everything but the emergency power systems,” Han says, leaning by your side to flip more switches. You give him a side-eye, biting the inside of your cheek. The cave was making your stomach twist uncomfortably, and you didn’t think it was from how dark it was.
“Does that mean shutting me down too?” Threepio asks, raising his hand. Chewie immediately barks, and you chuckle at the enthusiasm behind it. Blinking to get your eyes to adjust when more lights begin to flicker off in the cockpit.
Han sighs, “no, I need you to talk to the Falcon, find out what's wrong with the hyperdrive.”
Suddenly, the ship lurches, causing all loose-items to fall. Leia and Chewie grab onto the chairs, while Han catches Threepio. You clutch onto the steering components, waiting until the ship is stable again before kissing your teeth.
“I think we’re in trouble-”
“Aren’t we always?” Han gripes, worriedly looking out the front towards the fog, glancing down at you with pursed lips.
“Sir, it's quite possible this asteroid is not entirely stable.”
You spin around with wide eyes, “oh really? Well aren’t I happy you’re here to tell us these things!”
“(Y/n), why don't you and Chewie take the professor to the back and plug him into the hyperdrive?”
Huffing, you throw your hands up while walking out of the cockpit, hearing Chewie and Threepio following. The droid's voice filling the corridor.
“Oh! Sometimes I just don't understand human behavior. After all, I’m only trying to do my job-” He gets cut off, the Falcon lurching to the side once more, sending you straight into the wall. Chewie barks, rubbing his arms before nodding towards you. Nodding, you rub at your side before continuing.
“Where exactly is the Hyperdrive, Madam?” Threepio asks timidly. Smiling, you glance back at him, leading him to the Control Panel in the Main hold.
You could map out the inside of the Falcon like the palm of your hand. You’ve been with her since her seats were white, since her stereo system worked and when the giant closet in Hans’ room was filled to the brim with different capes.
Flipping more switches, you allow Threepio to look over it, “the Hyperdrive is in the back of the Engine room, under the flooring. It's too small to fit in there with it, so you’ll have to connect to her from out here.”
“I see, thank you, Madam (Y/n).”
After patting his metal arm, you assess the damage in the Main Hold. Chewie opens the ceiling, pulling himself up into the forest of wires while you look over the closet of wires you were in before leaving Hoth. It was worse than before, sparking every second while others hung broken, screws and bolts littering the floor.
“Kriff- I just fixed that, too,” you mumble, kicking away some of the bolts before getting close to the wires, squinting your eyes when some of the sparks land on your cheek.
Threepio begins whistling to the panel, it responding before he sighs, flipping another switch before trying again. Chewie holds a hand out the ceiling panel, barking and growling. You walk over, hands on your hips.
“Oh, where is R2 when I need him?” Threepio huffs.
Han rushes through the hold just then, brushing past you to the small cabinet with various wires and tools.
Threepio turns to him, “Sir, I don’t know where your ship learned to communicate, but it has the most peculiar dialect.”
Looking over your shoulder, you watch as Han stands beside the droid, looking over the screens with him.
“I believe, sir, it says that the power coupling on the negative axis has been polarized. I’m afraid you’ll have to replace it.
Scoffing, Han shifts the bundled cord in his hands, moving the screen slightly.
“Well, of course I’ll have to replace it.” Han says sarcastically, walking over to hand Chewie the rolled wire from where he was in the ceiling.
“Here!” He calls up. Bumping shoulders with him, you jerk your head back towards Threepio, smiling when Han rolls his eyes and turns back, “and Chewie!”
Han waits until Chewie’s head peers down, lowering his voice so it was only heard between the three of you, “I think we’d better replace that negative power coupling.”
Chuckling, you watch Han turn to leave, seeing Leia struggling with a valve she must have been welding. It seemed to be stuck, and you watched with a small smile as Han went to help her, his body blocking your view.
“Chewie?” you call softly, hearing him whine. “Do you need anything else? I need to get back to the wire closet.”
His head pops back over the side, and he once more points to a tool that was on the floor. Bending you pick it up, hearing Threepio cheering to himself, handing the tool up to him before turning and making your way back to the wires. With a huff, you pat your pockets for your gloves, cursing when you can’t find them.
Turning, you search the floor for them, and sigh when you find one, but not the other. Sliding on the one you found, you return to mending the wires to where they belong, slowly putting the Falcon back together.
“Sir! Sir!” Threepio cheers, wobbling past you, “I’ve isolated the reverse power flux coupling!”
You later find Leia sitting in the cockpit, the only light in the room was from the indicators on the control panel in front of her. She sat in Chewie’s chair, lightly dragging her finger across the steering controls.
Her head spins when the door slides open, lips parting when she sees you. Neither of you had the time to talk since landing. Her and Han seemed to, judging by the way his eyebrows were furrowed and he was drowning himself in repairs.
“Sorry,” you murmur, walking in the grab the rag Han uses to wipe away soot and grease.
Leia leans up, grabbing lightly onto your sleeve. Looking at her, you raise an eyebrow. She seems to be deep in thought, and after clearing her throat, she lets you go.
“I was hoping to talk to you, after what happened-”
Your stomach tightens again, and you lick your lips, “I’d rather not.” You stress, looking anywhere but at her.
She clenches her hand, resting it back in her lap while turning the chair further in your direction. The distant sound of blaster fire hitting the asteroids, it reminds you to get back to repairs.
“Look,” she starts, “I wanted to apologize for kissing Luke, I know-”
“You know what?” You cut her off again, tilting your head. Her mouth shuts, looking back out at the vast darkness while you let your thoughts get the better of you.
Why was she apologizing?
“I thought we were friends, Leia,” you say softly, watching her lips slowly form into a frown. Sighing, you sit in Hans’ chair, looking out at the darkness. You feel her eyes on you, but you refrain from meeting them. Your eyes are hot, and you find that you can’t remember the last time you talked about your feelings with another woman.
“We are friends- It was a mistake, and I regretted it the moment after. Han just makes me so mad that I can’t think straight,” she huffs, rubbing at her cheeks while leaning her elbows onto her knees. Smiling, you bite the inside of your cheek.
You don't know what you’re looking at, but when there’s movement out of the corner of your eye, you decide that this conversation can wait until later. Stilling, you reach over to grab her wrist, stopping her from talking.
“I saw something,” you whisper, intently watching the darkness for any other movement. Leia grips your hand, also watching. Then it happened again, a form scurrying past the windshield and back into the darkness. Both of you lean forwards in your seats, slowly beginning to stand to lean closer, waiting with bated breaths.
Suddenly, whatever creature it was latches onto the thick glass, beady eyes twitching every which way while its thick white saliva coated its teeth. There were spines around its mouth, and it released a high pitched screech before letting go, disappearing just as fast as it appeared.
Leia screams, almost falling back against the floor if it wasn’t for your iron grip on her hand. You're frozen, waiting until the creature disappears before letting Leia drag you from the cockpit.
Both of you were breathing heavily when entering the Main Hold, Threepio was turned towards Han and Chewie, who wore black goggles and were welding parts back into the frame of the Falcon. Leia let go, choosing to step towards Han while you continued looking around, wondering if there were more creatures.
“There's something out there,” she states. Han and Chewie both pull off their goggles, Han furrowing his eyebrows while watching her.
“Where?”
Leia jerks her head towards the Ramp, “outside, in the cave.”
It wasn’t until something started banging on the top of the Falcon that he stood at his full height, fully pulling off the goggles. Chewie barks anxiously and Threepio turns towards you, “there it is! Listen!”
“I’m going out there,” he says, passing by Leia in a rush to grab an oxygen mask on the back of the couch.
“Well, wait for me!” You call, also grabbing a mask. Han sends you a glare, stopping to turn towards you, “you should stay on the ship-”
“And let you have all the fun? Absolutely not.”
“Are you both crazy?” Leia yells, rushing after the both of you, Chewie hot on her tail.
Han throws back, “I just got this bucket back together, I’m not gonna let something tear it apart!”
As the exit ramp lowers, both you and Han make your way down it, stopping at the edge until it settles onto the ground. The mask was uncomfortable on your face, the tube that connected the mask to the oxygen box that was strapped to your belt made it hard to turn in some ways. It was extremely foggy, and it was hard for you to distinguish anything. Squinting, you walk around Han and finally step foot into the fog. The grounded squishes under your boots, making you grimace.
“Gross.”
Leia follows behind Han, both taking tentative steps on the surface before joining you in searching for the strange creature. It looked so familiar to you, but you can’t place your finger on it.
“The ground sure feels strange,” Leia says into the coms, her voice crackling into your ear piece. “It doesn’t feel like rock, at all.”
Han ducks to look under the Falcon, and you can faintly see Chewie go around the other side. Your palm sat against your blaster, which was still sitting in its holster, prepared to shoot at anything hostile.
“There’s an awful lot of moisture in here,” Han comments, turning to look back at you. You still stood by the ramp, staring out into the darkness. It made you uneasy, how dark it was around you. Usually, cave systems would have dripping water, the sound of different creatures that lived in the dark and the reflection of the light from outside giving just a semblance of light. But it was pitch black, and you couldn’t hear anything.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” you wince, turning to follow Han and Leia who were rounding to the front of the ship.
“Yeah, me too.” Han grumbles.
There's a hiss, and both you and Han draw your blasters, pointing towards the sound. Han makes the first shot, shooting down whatever was latched onto the bottom of the Cockpit’s windows.
“Watch out!”
Chewie growls, running from the other side of the Falcon, crossbow in hand, to look over the creature. Grabbing Leia’s elbow, you squint to try and see it, but its body was covered in the thick fog.
“That’s what I thought- Mynocks,” Han sighs, waving towards Chewie, “Chewie, check the rest of the ship, make sure there aren’t any more attached, they’re chewing on the power cords.”
“Mynocks?”
“Annoying creatures that live in asteroids,” you respond, watching Leia’s face contort into disgust.
“They like to eat ships’ power supply-”
“(y/n), go inside with Leia, we’ll see if there's any more on the ship.”
Scoffing, you turn towards the ramp, rolling your eyes, “You just wanna have all the fun!”
“Oh yeah, killing Mynocks is my favorite pastime!”
When stepping towards the ramp, you’re suddenly overcome with multiple Mynocks, all letting their wings brush over the top of your head. Leia brought her arms up in defense, screaming out while you tried to bat them away, then shooting your blaster, hitting one down.
“Han!” Leia screams, running onto the ship while you continue shooting. Han and Chewie begin to as well, and the cave begins to move once more. Almost knocking you off of your feet, your hand grabbing the side of the Falcon. When the cave does move, the Mynocks all disappear, but you can still hear their whistling voices from the darkness.
Han gives you a look, his eyebrows furrowed while his eyes scanned the fog.
“Wait a minute,” he says, looking around once more before shooting into the mushy ground. The cave begins to move once more, throwing you once again off balance. Leia tries to grab onto one of the ramps’ pistons, but she almost falls over. Han rushes to her side, grabbing her waist and pushing her onto the Falcon while reaching out a hand towards you. Grabbing it, you let him drag you inside while you look around for Chewie, who was running to follow.
“Common, Chewie!”
Inside, you all struggle to stay stable in the shuddering Falcon, but Chewie manages to close to hatch and tear off the mask, rushing towards the Cockpit. Han, followed by you and Threepio, runs into the Main Hold to look over the scopes on the Control Panel.
“All right, let's get out of here!”
Chewie growls, and you follow after Han.
“The Empire is still out there! I don’t think it's wise-”
Han interrupts her, running to the cockpit, “There’s no time to discuss this in committee.”
Glancing at Threepio to make sure he’s fine, you follow after, discarding your mask onto the couch while trying not to fall.
“I am not a committee!” Leia growls, following after him. Chewie is already in his seat, starting the Falcon when you all enter. Throwing yourself into your seat, you buckle in and grab onto Leia’s wrist, but she only spares you a glance.
Han makes quick work in pulling back the throttle, the cave just just beginning to settle.
“You can’t make the jump to lightspeed in an asteroid field!”
“Sit down, sweetheart, we’re taking off.”
The shaking finally stops when you’re in the air, and you can hear Threepio entering the Cockpit. Chewie barks, looking at the end of the cave, and you have to lean forwards in your seat to see it.
At the end of the long tunnel, it looks like the cave begins to collapse.
“Maker, that’s definitely not good,” you say, hearing Chewie grumble.
Threepio lifts an arm, “Look! Look!”
“I see it,” Han stresses. Suddenly, a row of jagged white stalagmites and stalactites can be seen surrounding the entrance.  And as the Falcon moves forward, the entrance to the cave grows ever smaller.  Han pulls hard on the throttle, the ship surging forward.
“We’re doomed!” Threepio cries, and you bite the inside of your cheek.
“The cave is collapsing,” Leia says, leaning down in between Han and Chewie’s seats.
“This isn’t a cave,” you say, watching her head snap to you with wide eyes.
“What?” She asks, looking back at the entrance. The rocks aren’t rocks at all, but teeth, which were quickly closing in on the ship. Chewie howls, and Han curses. He yanks the steering, the ship tilting onto its side to slide past the gaps in the teeth, flying into the asteroid field once more.
It doesn’t take long for The Empire to catch up with you, and soon a large Star Destroyer is hot on your tail, flak hitting the sides of the Falcon, rocking it. Han does his best to correct the angle of the ship, and while Leia watches intently out the front, your eyes are glued to the tracking scope next to you.
“We’re coming out of the field,” you say, Threepio cheering at your side.
“Oh, thank goodness!”
There's another large hit to the Falcon, and you can hear something explode from the back, causing Chewie to bark.
“Let’s get out of here.” Han states, glancing at Chewie, who was beginning to flip switches, “ready for lightspeed? One, two, three!-”
When he pulls back on the hyperspace throttle, nothing happens, Han groans.
“It's not fair!” He sounds frantic. Chewie begins to growl and bark, throwing his hands up after bashing the control panel. Leia groans softly, rubbing her eyes harshly while slouching in her seat.
“What did you do?!” You yell, pushing past Chewie’s arm to frantically look over the controls. Han glares, “Transfer circuits aren’t working, it's not my fault!”
Leia leans over, “no lightspeed?”
Han turns his chair, his eyebrows tight, “it’s not my fault!”
More flak hits the ship, and Han does his best to steer away.
“Sir,” Threepio says from behind you, “we’ve just lost the main rear deflector shield, one more hit on the back quarter and we’re done for.”
There's a moment of silence, Han staring down at the levers before nodding his head once, pulling back and turning towards Chewie.
“Turn her around.”
“What?!” You yell, Chewie barking in puzzlement, both of you staring at him. He gets up from his seat, pointing at the Wookiee, “I said turn her around! I’m going to put all power in the front shield!”
He flips almost switch before sitting back down in his seat.
“You’re going to attack them?” Leia asks, you smacking his arm, “that’s the worst decision by far!”
“Sir, the odds of surviving a direct assault on an Imperial Star Destroyer-”
Both you and Leia interrupt him, “Shut up!”
The Falcon banks, making a steep turn before heading straight towards the Star Destroyer, bobbing and weaving to dodge the flak bursts. The ship narrowly misses the bridge window, before Han turns towards Chewie, pointing to his side.
“Engage the landing claw!”
Chewie does, and the Falcon is now clinging to the Destroyer, Han shutting off all power before freezing, watching the other Destroyers in the area.
“We should be invisible now,” he says softly, glancing at you and Chewie.
There's a few minutes of silence, before Threepio throws his hands up.
“Captain Solo, this time you’ve gone too far!” Chewie cuts him off, but Threepio only waves his way, “no, I will not be quiet, Chewbacca. Why doesn’t anyone listen to me?”
Han points to the Destroyers, “the fleets starting to break up. Go back and stand by the manual release for the landing claw.” Chewie nods, barking. He struggles to stand from his seat, walking out of the Cockpit.
Threepio speaks again, “I really don't see how that is going to help. Surrender is a perfectly acceptable alternative in extreme circumstances-”
You’ve stood up by then, sitting Threepio down in your seat before turning to Leia, raising your eyebrows while gesturing towards Threepio. She sighs, reaching forwards to turn him off. Han sighs, nodding his head, “thank you.”
Standing in the doorway, you watch Leia move closer to Han, who was still watching the fleet.
“So what’s the next move?”
Han only glances her way, “well, if they follow standard Imperial procedure, they’ll dump their grange before going to lightspeed. Then, we’ll just float away.”
You cross your arms, watching the two interact.
“With the rest of the garbage, then what?”
“Then, we’ve got to find a safe port around here, got any ideas?” He finally turns to look at you after turning on the computer map screen, you shake your head.
“No. Where are we?” Leia asks.
“The Anoat system.”
Leia grimaces, “Anoat system. There’s not much there.”
“Well- wait, this is interesting,” he turns to look at you with raised eyebrows, “Lando.”
You chuckle, letting your head fall back against the door frame, groaning softly.
Leia looks between you both for a moment, “Lando system?”
“Lando’s not a system,” you correct her, “he’s a man, Lando Calrissian.” smiling, you look back at her, “he’s a card player, gambler, scoundrel-”
“You’d like him,” Han cuts in with a smile.
“Thanks,” she grumbles.
Han rests his fist against his chin, watching the computer screen.
“Bespin. It’s pretty far, but I’m sure we can make it.”
Nodding, you push away from the door frame, leaning over Leia’s shoulder.
“A mining colony?” She asks, tilting her head to look at you.
“Yeah,” Han confirms, “a Tibanna gas mine. Must have conned somebody out of it, we go back a long way- Lando and us,” he nods towards you.
“Can you trust him?”
You laugh, shaking your head, “absolutely not, but he has no love for The Empire.”
Sitting in Chewie’s seat you watch the garbage slowly start to seep from the Destroyer. Han straightens in his seat, leaning to press into the com.
“Alright Chewie, get ready.” He waits another moment, “detach!”
The falcon detaches from the Destroyer with a lurch, and the ship slowly turns as it floats into the wave of garbage, watching as the Star Destroyer goes off into lightspeed.
“You have your moments, I'll give you that.” Leia says softly, looking over Han for a moment before leaning down, pressing a kiss onto his cheek. Then, she sits down in her seat, avoiding your gaze. Smiling, you watch as Han smiles softly, and Leia blushes.
Powering back on the Falcon, Han steers the ship around and begins making way to Bespin.
You moved back to your seat when Chewie came back and Threepio was turned back on, albeit more calm and quiet after having been turned off for a few hours. You sat in silence, watching the clouds grow in number and the colors shift from black and blue to a dusty orange and pink. this suited Lando, you thought.
There were two cloud cars following the ship from either side, talking to Han through the coms.
“No,” Han says, “I don’t have a landing permit! I’m trying to reach Lando Calrissian!”
Flak hits the side of the ship, and you lean forwards to watch out the window. Leia looks worried, you giving a tight lipped smile.
“Woah! Wait a minute! Let me explain-” Han yells into the transmitter, but the pilot in the Cloud Car cuts him
“You will not deviate from your current flight path.”
“Rather touchy, aren’t they?” Threepio says.
Leia huffs, “I thought you said you knew this person.”
Chewie growls and barks at Han, and you wonder what he said for Han to look so offended.
“Well, that was a long time ago. I’m sure he’s forgotten about that.”
“Permission granted to land on platform three-two-seven.”
Han smiles, seething into the transmitter, “Thank you.”
After saying his thanks, he snaps off the intercom, throwing it to the ground as Chewie grunts.
“Nothing to worry about. We go way back, Lando and me.”
“Who’s worried?” Leia asks, sitting down in her chair.
As the floating city of Bespin comes into view, you silently wonder how Lando came to own this place. You wonder if it was from a game of Sabacc, or if he did another run and got it as a reward. The Cloud Cars escort you to the landing platform, and Han lands with a sigh, standing from his chair and walking out of the Cockpit, you and Chewie hot on his tail. You can hear Leia and Threepio following, and make sure to glance back at her.
Han lowers the ramp, and warily looks around the platform as you exit. You’re expecting to see Lando waiting for you guys, but there wasn’t anybody around.
“Oh. no one to meet us,” Threepio voices, looking around the platform.
Eyebrows furrowed, you place a hand onto your blaster, looking at Han and Chewie. They both have the same looks, hands close to their weapons.
“I don’t like this,” Leia sighs, shaking her head. Han huffs, turning to look at her.
“Well, what would you like?”
“They did let us land,” Threepio states, looking between the two.
Han leans against one of the pistons, “look, don't worry, everything's going to be fine. Trust me.”
The door at the end of the platform hisses, opening vertically to present a group of people, Lando at the front. His dark cape laid over his shoulders as he talked with one of the people from the crowd, pointing towards your group. Han makes his way from the ramp, stopping between you and Chewie.
“Keep your eyes open, yeah?”
Chewie nods his head, growling softly. Han turns to you, smiling, “coming with me?”
You don't reply, but you do follow him when he goes to meet Lando in the middle of the platform. Turning to give Chewie and Leia a two fingered salute.
Han opens his hands, a bright smile on his face, “Hey!”
You can hear Lando’s voice, deeper from what you remember, his cape billowing behind him. He’s grown older, smile lines creasing around his eyes. The only remaining facial hair left on his face was his mustache, his hair remaining almost the same, just a little longer, smoothed back into waves. The group he was talking to follow at a distance, looking over your group with curious eyes.
“Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler!” He stops a few feet away, placing his hands on his hips
“You’ve got a lot of guts coming here, after what you’ve pulled.”
Both you and Han freeze, Hans’ hands pointing to his chest. You stare at Lando with narrowed eyes, but he doesn’t seem to acknowledge your presence just yet.
“Me?” Han says softly. Lando takes a few steps forwards, jerking towards Han, making his hands fly up in defense, before laughing and pulling him into a hug. Han stands shocked, before beginning to laugh, hugging him back.
Lando pulls away, smiling brightly, “how you doing, you old pirate! I never thought I’d catch up with you again, where’ve you been? What’re you doing here?”
Han turned to thumb at the Falcon, “ah, repairs, thought you could help.”
Lando replies in mock panic, “what’ve you done to my ship?”
He finally turns to you, his eyes softening, trying to hide a smile as he finally speaks to you, “What’ve you let him do to our ship?”
Han laughs mockingly, looking between you both with wide eyes, “your ship? Hey- remember, you lost her to me fair-and-square.”
Chewie must catch his attention, his eyes flickering to behind you, “and how you doin’, Chewbacca? you still hanging around with this loser?”
Chewie replies in a series of barks and growls, Leia and Threepio appearing from his side. When Lando finally notices her, he smiles, “hello, what do we have here?” Glancing towards Han, he moves closer.
“Welcome. I’m Lando Calrissian, I’m the administrator of this facility. And who might you be?” He tilts his head. Crossing your arms, you narrow your eyes at him. Leia flickers to look at you, before setting her gaze on him again, she looks wary, untrusting. Yet, she smiles, tilting her head.
“Leia.”
Lando sighs, “Welcome, Leia.” He reaches out, grabbing her hand to press a delicate kiss.
Han huffs, moving in to softly grab Leia’s hand from his, shaking his head, “all right, all right, you old smoothie.”
Threepio moves closer, slightly bending down before shaking his hand, “Hello, sir. I am see-Threepio, human-cyborg relations. My facilities are at your-” Lando’s already turning around, eyes finding you again with a smile.
“Finally deciding to work with your real captain, (Y/n)?” he takes your arm in his, leading you into the building. Laughing, you shake your head, looking at him with a smile.
“You haven’t been a captain for how long, Lando?”
He brushes it off with a smirk, “doesn't matter, you worked under me first didn’t you?”
“You don't remember? Why, how inconsiderate of you!” You feign offense, placing your hand over the other, feeling the cape brush the back of your legs.
“I could never forget you! After all we’ve done? It would be a crime!”
Lando turns back to Han, and you let go of his arm, clasping them behind your back as Lando's aid nods his head at you in greeting.
“What’s wrong with the Falcon?”
“Hyperdrive.”
Lando nods, turning to his aid before looking back, “I’ll get my people to work on her.”
“Good.”
Walking backwards, Lando winks at you before looking at Leia, smiling brightly, “you know, that ship saved my life quite a few times. She's the fastest hunk of junk in the sky!”
When walking across a small bridge that leads into the main city, you finally manage to catch a glimpse of it all. The entire city reminded you of Coruscant, with cloud cars flying around, people walking through the streets, and multiple buildings linking together that stretch out as far as you could see.
The interior was just as elegant as you expected. While walls and intricate statues and artwork. There was a chandelier hanging from the ceiling as your group walked down the skinny set of stairs. The windows on the wall to your left showcased the city lights, and you smile at Leia when you see the sparkle in her eyes return, even if it was for a second.
Han makes busy with talking to Lando, their voices echoing through the hallways, “how's the gas mine? Is it paying off for you?”
Passing a small plaza, you glance at a man working on a power board just behind one of the pillars that held up the ceiling. He didn’t pay you any mind, too engrossed in his work. Another man, who did spare you a glance, was cleaning the walls with a large duster, reaching up as far as he could.
“Oh,” Lando sighs, “not as well as I’d like. We’re a small outpost and not very self sufficient- not to mention the supply problems of every kind. I’ve had labor difficulties-” Lando stops short, Hans laughter billowing over him. Smiling, he tilts his head, “what’s so funny?”
You almost start laughing too at the way Han claps a hand down onto his shoulder, shaking his head.
“You! Listen to you, you sound like a businessman, a responsible leader. Who would’ve thought that, huh?” Han looks back at you, then at Leia for a split second before turning back to the front. Lando stops in front of a large wall of windows, the sun casting an orange glow of her busy city.
“You know, seeing you both here brings back a few things.”
Laughing, you link your arm with his again, smiling.
“It does, doesn’t it?”
Lando chuckles, dragging you along as Han looks back, eyebrows raised and shoulders shrugging.
“Yeah, I’m responsible these days. It's the price you pay for being successful.”
Raising a brow, you look up at him, “didn’t you win this place from gambling?”
“Acquiring this beauty doesn’t matter to me anymore, I think being a successful businessman suits me, no?”
You hiss, leaning away to wince, “I don’t know, seeing you like this is like seeing an imposter.”
“You hurt me, (Y/n). When did you get so mean?”
After assigning both you and Leia rooms, you take the chance to finally get cleaned up. The guest quarters was an oval shaped room, lounging all around the room while one door led into the bedroom.
They provided you with a new set of clothes, perfect to go along with the beautiful city. It was a dark blue jumpsuit, the fabric light enough to be worn with the cape that was folded nicely underneath it. It was white, but had a gold lining and a beautiful design that covered the bottom. The fabric underneath was also gold, the collar wrapping around your shoulders to clasp right in the middle of your chest. You refused to wear the boots they gave, preferring your usual ones instead.
After finally getting out of there, you make your way towards Leia’s room. You knew Han and Chewie were looking over the Falcon’s repairs, and you were hoping you’d be able to spend some time alone with Leia before you’d have to leave. But, when the doors opened, it revealed Han and Leia already sitting alone together, sitting closely as they spoke quietly amongst themselves.
Han stood first, hands on his hips as he looked you over, nodding once as he gestured to the cape and jumpsuit.
“Bespin seems to suit you.”
Looking down, you smooth over the soft fabric, shrugging, “over than it being kind of itchy in some parts, its comfortable.”
“I think you look beautiful,” Leia says, standing as well. She wore a maroon dress, her white cape falling fluidly over her shoulders and down her back. Her hair was down, braids being tied up with ribbons, and the dirt that used to be on her cheeks was washed away. She looked regal, fitting in almost perfectly with the city.
“You do too, Leia.”
“The ships almost done, just a few more things before we can go.”
Leia crosses her arms, stepping closer while promptly ignoring Han, “have you seen Threepio? Nobody has heard anything from or about him!”
“I thought he was with you? When was the last time you saw him?”
Han raises his arms, “I already told her I’d ask Lando!”
“How long has he been gone?” You ask, hands on your hips.
“Too long, there's no chance he would be lost. Something is wrong here, I cannot be the only one feeling like this.”
Leia sits back down on the couch, Han crouching next to her. You cross your arms, leaning against the door frame when the door across from you slides open, Chewie rushing in with a basket full of Threepio parts.
“What happened?” you ask, eyebrows scrunching as you rush over, looking over a broken Threepio. Chewie sets the basket down on the round table in the middle of the room, Leia standing besides you as you begin lifting small parts.
Chewie barks and growls softly, lifting Threepio's arm and foot.
“Where?” Han asks, hand resting on the back of the couch.
Chewie growls again, this time Han scoffs, “found him in a junk pile?”
Leia sighs, tilting her head. “What a mess, Chewie, you think you can repair him?”
Biting your cheek, you push away from the table and look at Han, a perplexed look on his face. Chewie growls, shrugging his shoulders.
“Lando’s got people who can fix him.”
Leia shakes her head, voice cold, “no thanks.”
Sitting back down onto the couch, you cross one leg over the other as you watch Chewie begin repairs. Leia continues to stand, seeming to be deep in thought.
Lando walks in just then, eyes flickering over everyone's face, “sorry, am I interrupting anything?”
“Not really, no.”
You give him a strained smile, and he returns it, before his eyes flicker over to Leia. He smiles, his eyes crinkling before he shakes his head.
“You look absolutely beautiful.”
Leaning back, you look at Han with raised eyebrows while he slowly covers his mouth with his hand, eyes wide as he stares at Lando.
“You truly belong here with us among the clouds,” he says smoothly, hands appearing from his cape.
“Thank you,” Leia returns coolly, She tugs her own cape closed, tilting her shoulders back towards you.
Lando reaches a hand out, his smile bright, eyes smooth, “would you join me for a refreshment?”
Barking almost offendedly, Chewie sets down the leg he was working on. Lando adds, “everyone's invited, of course.”
Standing, you watch Han move in to smoothly take Leia’s arm, pulling her away from Lando’s grasp as he moves towards the door. Lando offers you his arm, and you take it with a small smile.
Finally seeing the parts of Threepio, Lando’s eyebrows scrunch in confusion, “having trouble with your droid?”
“No, no problem. Why?” Han asks from the door frame, waiting for Lando to lead your group.
When the door hisses closed behind you, Han and Leia pause so Lando can actually lead you to where you’re going. There’s more people in the Halls now, all different species filling the corridor as you walk. Light filters in through the windows, being cut by the large white pillars that stand tall.
Lando clears his throat, hand tapping against yours before slightly turning his head to see the others.
“So you see, since we’re a small operation. We don't fall under the, uh, jurisdiction of the Empire.”
You raise your eyebrow, Leia’s voice firm next to you, “so you're part of the mining guild then?”
Leading you down a set of stairs, you turn another corner. Shoulder brushing against Leia’s you look at her, and she meets you with soft eyes.
“No not actually, our operation is small enough to not be noticed.”
Turning left down another corridor, he continues, “It’s advantageous for everybody since our customers are anxious to avoid attracting attention to themselves.”
There's a large set of doors at the end of the hallway, and you walk down another set of stairs, passing by another set of large windows.
“Aren’t you afraid the Empire is going to find you out? Shut you down?” You cut in, looking down at your feet so you wouldn't trip over the many capes that billow behind you.  There's barely anyone down this hallway, and Lando begins to slow as you approach the double doors.
“There's always been a danger looming like a shadow over everything we’ve built here. But things have developed that will ensure security. I’ve just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of her forever.”
There's a small red button outside of the door, and when Lando presses down onto it, the door hisses as it opens.
Inside stood Darth Vader, he was at the end of the long table, black suit contrasting against the white interior. Ripping your arm from Lando’s grip, you instinctively reach for your blaster, but it wasn’t there. You had taken it off when putting on the clothes Lando provided you. Han was the only one wearing the clothes he arrived in, quickly grabbing the blaster from his side while pulling Leia behind him from her hand. Chewie growls while grabbing your arm, yanking you into his side.
Shooting at the Lord, Han would’ve hit, if it wasn’t for Darth Vader stopping the blaster bolts with his hand, stopping the blast repeatedly before ripping the gun from Hans’ hand, setting it down onto the table calmly.
“We would be honored, if you would join us.”
His voice was deep, mechanically terrifying as you peer over Han’s shoulder, watching Boba Fett himself walk from behind one of the pillars inside the room, standing beside Vader. Stormtroopers appear from behind you, pointing blasters.
Lando stood to the side, frowning. His eyes were unreadable, but he refused to look at you, only Han.
“I had no choice,” he said coldly, “they arrived right before you did. I’m sorry.”
Han purses his lips, grabbing Leia’s hand, looking at you before glaring at Lando, nodding.
“I'm sorry, too.”
Chewie growls, barking at him before pushing you forwards nex to Leia, who reaches back, grabbing your hand tightly as your group enters the room, the door hissing shut behind you.
You were separated from Han and the others shortly after, being strapped to a chair, they didn’t ask you anything, just stared while you screamed in pain. You barely remember what happened, just the pulsating electricity that waved through your body. They tore off your cape, leaving you in your jumpsuit. Your head hurt, and so did your body. The fresh scars on your side from falling into the Falcon’s wires throbbed again, the skin still sensitive.
They dragged you into another prison chamber after they were done, you pulled against them with the remaining strength you had left before they dropped you to the ground. Han was already laying against a metal bench, Leia brushing his hair back. He looked worse than you, his face pale with dark bags under his eyes.
Chewie rushes over to you, helping you stand. Smiling, you rub his arm before making your way to Leia and Han. Han looked over you with the little strength he had left, but you swatted his hands away.
“Did they ask you anything?” he questions, Leia looking over you with concern as well. He reaches out, touching your cheek softly before retracting.
“No, you?”
“No.”
Leia sighs, leaning down to kiss his forehead. Slouching onto the ground, you close your eyes while rubbing your side. You should’ve listened to Han when he told you to take care of it.
The door hisses open once more, and two cloudian guards walk in, Lando trailing in after. Chewie growls, and Han does his best to sit up with Leia’s help. Pushing off of the ground, you grab onto Chewie’s arm.
“Get out of here, Lando-”
“Shut up and listen!” He barks, face stern. “Vader has agreed to turn Leia, (Y/n), and Chewie over to me.”
Han scoffs, “over to you?”
“They’ll have to stay here, but they’ll be safe.”
Leia doesn’t miss a beat, “what about Han?”
Her hands are still gripping his shoulders, her body supporting him. You clench your jaw, already having an idea as to why Boba Fett would want Han.
“Vader’s giving him to the bounty hunter.”
Leia shakes her head, “Vader wants us all dead-”
“He doesn’t want you at all!” His head is shaking, trying to find the words, “he’s after someone else- someone called Skywalker-”
“Luke?” Your voice almost breaks. There's that feeling in your chest again, that tight twist in your stomach before it simmers away. Lando finally snaps his eyes to you, and you see the pain in them, looking at your pale face and worried, betrayed, eyes.
“Lord Vader has set a trap for him.”
There's a moment of silence, Chewie still growling.
“And we’re the bait-” Leia yells, her voice echoing slightly.
“Yeah, well. He’s on his way.”
Han is heaving now, his jaw offset as he struggles to look at the man in front of him. He pushes himself off the metal bench, wavering in his stance.
“You’ve fixed us all up real good, didn’t you?”
Lando shakes his head, looking away from him. But Han wasn’t done, he took a shaky step forwards, “My friend.” He growls. He rears back his hand, punching Lando in the face. The older falls to the floor, Han following after, the guards hitting him with their guns.
“Han!” You yell, trying to get to him but there's a gun pointed at you before you could move. Chewie is barking again, and at the moment you wish you knew what he was saying. What he was calling Lando. Leia is down by Hans’ side, rubbing his side where the guard hit him.
As he got up, Lando fixed his cape, calling off his guards while looking over your group once more.
“I’ve done all I can,” he says, touching his cheek, “I’m sorry I couldn’t do better but I’ve got my own problems!”
Pushing himself onto his side, Han glares from his place on the floor, “yeah, a real hero.”
Lando leaves after that, his guards following after. You finally fall to your knees besides Han, helping him up. Hes wincing, holding onto his side as Leia pushes herself closer to him. Leaning him up against the wall.
“You certainly have a way with people,” she sighs.
Chuckling, you wipe the blood from Han’s chin, “you should’ve seen him with Jabba, a real people pleaser.”
They both laugh softly, looking at one another before Leia steps over him, Chewie helping her lift him from the floor. They place him back on the metal bench, him softly groaning as his back meets the cold metal.
After everything seemed to calm down, the door hissed again, Boba Fett entering the room. You stand first, Leia staying by Han while Chewie stops his repairs on Threepio.
“What a familiar sight,” you tease, tilting your head at the mandalorian. He doesn’t reply to you, just turns his head and nods towards Han. Six stormtroopers enter the room then, quickly placing handcuffs onto your friends before standing close to Boba Fett, who still had his blaster in hand.
“Let’s go.” Is all he says, his voice mechanical.
“What a party pleaser,” you grumble, letting Han leave the room first. Leia stands by your side, and Chewie straps a still broken Threepio to his back, the stormtroopers trailing after him.
Boba Fett led you through Cloud City in silence, turning corners and going down stairs until you entered a dark room illuminated by a red light. Smoke steamed from different pipes, and the sight of even more stormtroopers had you inch closer to the princess.
Threepio doesn’t seem to be able to read the situation well, his voice carrying throughout the large room frantically, “If only you attached my legs, I wouldn’t be in this ridiculous position. Now, remember, Chewbacca, you have a responsibility to me, so don’t do anything foolish.”
After walking down the final set of stairs, Han stops to stand behind Lando, who was watching the many Ugnaughts working on some kind of machine that stands in the middle of the room.
“Nice to see you, buddy,” Han hisses, his hands shifting in the tight cuffs. There's another set of stairs on the other side of the room, and you can hear Vader’s mechanical breathing from beyond the smoke. You couldn’t see him, but you knew he was there.
“They're putting you into carbon freeze,” Lando whispers over his shoulder, eyes flickering to the Dark Lord that now walks down the stairs. A shiver rolls down your back, and you push Leia further away from him. Boba Fett moves away from your group, standing beside Vader to speak softly to him.
Carbon Freeze? You’ve only heard of it, never actually seeing the machine yourself. You’ve never heard of humans going into it and surviving, and the thought of Han going in there makes your eyes burn. Your chest feels tight, and you finally look at him. He’s looking at Leia with a soft smile, his eyes sad.
“Han?” You whisper, gaining his attention. His brows furrow, and he tries to make his way over to you, but he’s stopped by Vader's voice.
“The Empire will compensate you if he dies, put him in!”
“No!” you cry, Chewie howling right after. Leia grabs your arms, pulling you away from the stormtrooper that rushed forwards with his blaster raised. Chewie begins to push away the guards, throwing them off the suspended platform. It's chaos, Chewie frantic as Hans' voice tries to speak over him.
“Chewie! No! Stop it, Chewie! Do you hear me?!” Han is standing in front of him now, speaking loudly to gain the Wookie's attention while more Stormtroopers place him into cuffs.
“This won’t help me,” Chewie tries to struggle again, “Hey!”
Han’s face is stern, “save your strength. There’ll be another time. The princess, and (Y/n), you have to protect them, take care of them, you hear me?”
Chewie provides a woeful farewell, Leia leaving your side to stand next to him. Han looks down at her, then leans down, pressing his lips against hers. She reaches out, touching his cheek before he pulls away.
You realize your shaking, your vision blurry with unshed tears. Han looks at you with stern eyes, and he reminds you of an older brother.
“Don’t cry, kid.” He whispers, tilting his head. You can’t reply, throat throbbing. But you shake your head, wrapping your arms around his neck, hugging him as tight as you could.
“You gotta keep her safe, okay?”
Nodding, you continue to hold him before letting go, swallowing while taking a shaking breath.
Finally, Han is ripped away by a stormtrooper, and you almost go after him. Leia stops you, grabbing onto your arm firmly, pulling you back towards Chewie. She quickly turns to Han, who was already looking her way, her breathing shaking too.
“I love you,” she says firmly, and Han tries to hide his smile.
“I know.”
The ugnaughts remove his bindings, and the floor slowly begins to lower into the chamber.
There's tears rolling down Leia’s face, her hand clutching onto yours as Han disappears into the floor. Chewie begins to cry, it only gets louder as the machine turns on, cold smoke filling the air. The hissing the machine lets out hurts your ears, and you and Leia both turn to cover your faces.
It only took a few seconds before the large claw above the pit descended, whirring and latching onto something before ascending again. In its jaws, was Han. He was frozen in a sheet of carbon, his face exclaiming in pain while his hands were raised in surrender. Leia gasps, your hand flying to cover your mouth, tears stinging your eyes once more. The Ugnaughts look over it before pushing it down, and Han lands with a thump, the entire floor rattling with the weight.
Threepio continues to try and look around Chewie’s shoulder, only managing to get peeks in.
Lando moves around, crouching beside the Carbon block to look at the statistics on the side, his eyebrows tense.
“Oh, they’ve encased him in carbonite-” you can pick up, but you block him out.
Vader steps forwards, hand clasped onto his belt, “well, Calrissian, did he survive?”
Lando is staring at the frozen block, his hands holding onto the side.
“Yes, he’s alive. And in perfect hibernation.”
Turning back to Boba Fett, Vader says, “He’s all yours, bounty hunter.”
Boba Fett bows before turning to the Ugnaughts, motioning for them to continue with placing Han into a coffin-like box. Vader turns to the other Ugnaughts, “reset the chamber for Skywalker.”
One of the Imperial officers walks down to the platform then, only sparing a glance to the people around him before stopping before Vader, “Skywalker has just landed, my Lord.”
Leia turns your way, the tears dried on your face. Sighing, you speak silently with her. You couldn’t let Luke run into his trap.
Lando moves towards you then, trying to grab your arm but you swat him away, glaring at him. He frowns, Vader’s voice speaks up again.
“Good, see to it that he finds his way here. Calrissian, take the Princess, the Wookiee, and the other one to my ship.”
Lando doesn’t hesitate to protest, “you said they’d stay in the city under my supervision!”
“I’ve altered the deal.” Vader says, his voice cold, “pray I don’t alter it further.”
Lando nods, hand lightly touching his throat before turning to you and the others, pursing his lips.
They place Han onto a floating platform, Boba leading a few stormtroopers and Cloud City workers away with it. Lando, an Imperial Officer, and a few stormtroopers lead you and the others out of the chamber, taking a different hallway to Vader's ship. You only watch the floor as you walk. Everyone was silent, your eyes still burning at the thought of Luke being put into the same chamber as Han. Leia continuously tries to look around, slowing enough to be pushed forwards by a Stormtrooper.
The group slows when the sound of blaster fire echo's down the vacant hallway, it sounded close. You raise your head enough to see Lando look back, his hand reaching from under his cape to press along the watch on his wrist before looking forwards once more, walking alongside the Imperial officer.
Passing an adjacent hallway, the Imperial officer waves Lando forwards, rushing back to grab Leia by the shoulders and drag her towards the door to your right side. The troopers around start to fire down the hallway. Another trooper grabs you, and when trying to wiggle free, he only kicks the back of your knee, tripping you. Gaining your footing again, you can hear Leia yell over the sound of the other troopers’ blaster fire.
“Luke!” She screams, and you snap your head to look down the hallway, the quickest sight of blonde hair disappearing around the corner makes your heart drop. It was true, he was here.
“It's a trap!” She screams again before she’s yanked forcefully through the doorway. Chewie starts yelling, and when you try to yell his name, the trooper holding you kicks the back of your knee again, pulling you through the door.
“Luke, run!” you manage to get out, seeing him peer from behind the wall. When the door shuts behind you, the trooper lets you go, pushing you to keep walking. Leia grabs ahold of your arm, helping you steady yourself. Clenching your jaw, you continue walking. Hoping that Luke heard you, and left as soon as he could.
“I hope he heard us,” Leia whispers, her face looking back at the trooper’s following.
Further down the hallway, you enter an intersection, where multiple of Lando’s guards are waiting, blasters already fixed on the Imperial soldiers and officer. Lando pushes the officer into the hands of one of his guards, and begins to grab the blasters from the Stormtroopers, handing them over to his right hand, who was standing behind the pillar in the middle of the room.
“Well done,” Lando says, taking three more guns from the troopers before turning back to him, “hold them in the security tower, keep it quiet. Move.”
The guards begin to escort the Troopers and officer, handing you and Leia a blaster he took. When he hands one to you, you grab his arm harshly, “just what are you doing, huh?”
Lando gently takes his arm from your grip, moving to Chewie’s bindings, “we’re getting out of here.”
“Oh, I knew it all had to be a mistake!” Threepio cries from Chewie’s back. When the bindings fall from his wrists, he immediately grabs Lando by the throat, choking him.
Leia smirks, “you think after all you’ve done, we’d trust you?”
“You’re stupid to think I won't just kill you right here, right now,” you sneer, blaster pointed at him.
“I had no choice!” He chokes, hands clawing at Chewie’s wrists, trying to free himself.
Chewie barks, almost lifting him from the ground. Threepio starts to protest, his voice frantic.
“Oh, we understand, don’t we, (Y/n)?” Leia says sarcastically, turning to you with raised eyebrows.
“Definitely,” you step forwards, “he just had no choice, right Chewie?”
Lando’s face starts to turn red, “I’m just trying to help-”
“That’s what you said when you let us in, isn’t it? Helping an old friend of yours fix his ship? We don’t want your help anymore, Lando.”
He ignores you, making a garbled sound that neither of you could understand.
“I think he’s trying to say Han!” Threepio cries, his head trying to look over Chewie’s shoulder, who was still choking Lando.
“There’s still a chance- to save Han- The east platform-”
“Chewie, drop him.” Leia says, Chewie letting him fall to the floor. He heaves, rubbing the raw skin of his throat.
“I’m terribly sorry about all this. He’s only a wookiee, after all.”
“Shut it, Threepio.” You growl, turning to start rushing down the corridor. Leia was just behind you, Chewie following her, then a still gasping Lando.
“This way-” Lando wheezes, running to the front of the group to lead you out onto a balcony, the sun setting on the city. You can faintly see Boba Fett’s ship up ahead, and you almost stop when hearing the familiar whistle of another droid. Chewie stops to growl at R2.
“Artoo! Where have you been? Oh- turn around you wooly!”
Running up a set of stairs, Lando skids to a stop to open the hangar door. It hisses, and Leia and Chewie run through first, watching as Boba Fett’s ship flies away. Yelling out, Chewie tries to fire at the ship with the blaster Lando gave him, but it was no use. Standing beside Leia, your shoulders slump. Leia’s eyes well with tears, and you place a hand onto her back.
“Oh no, Chewie, behind you!” Threepio cries, the Wookiee turning around with a cry.
A blaster bolt nearly hits Leia, and you both turn around to see a group of Stormtroopers entering from down the corridor. R2 spins in the hanger doorway, speeding away from the cross fire. Lando takes cover behind the wall, and Leia soon follows. You and Chewie begin to fire at the troopers, Chewie hitting a few before Lando makes a break for the elevator down the hall. More troopers were filling the room, and Leia managed to hit a few before making a break for the elevator as well. Chewie pushes you along, acting as a shield while you peer around him, firing at the troopers before they could shoot Chewie.
Your hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and with each trooper you shot down, it got worse. Feeling the heat in your cheeks, you step around Chewie to take another shot, a blaster bolt landing beside your head before you finally make it to the elevator. Lando shut the doors before any of them could round the corner.
The elevator ride up was quick, and you ran off, almost smiling when seeing the Falcon on the landing pad. Just as quickly the doors slam shut, Lando slamming his hands against the metal door before looking at the door pad on the wall. Shaking his head, he looks at you and Leia.
“The security codes have been changed!”
Chewie howls, grabbing onto the metal door to try and pull it open.
“Artoo!” Threepio cries, the smaller droid beeping in return, “you can tell the computer to override the security system!”
Lando rushes over to the other wall, hooking into the panel's intercom, his voice ringing through the hallways.
Taking off the computer cover, R2 tries to hook into the computer system. Suddenly, his short beep turns into a wild scream. R2’s circuits begin to light up, and his head spins wildly. Smoke erupts from under him, and Chewie promptly pulls him away, blue bolts curling around his little body.
“This is just great,” you grumble, hearing Threepio argue with the little droid before Lando lightly touches your elbow.
“This way.”
Following him, you run against a large crowd of citizens, Chewie firing at Stormtroopers who managed to catch up to you. Lando is quick, running through the halls until coming up to another panel system. This time, there was a port for R2 to connect to, and you rushed him forwards. He whistles, turning his head towards you.
More Stormtroopers begin to crowd, and you join Leia and Chewie in firing towards them, shooting more down while R2 works on the landing door.
“Ah!” Threepio shouts, Chewie barely dodging a blaster bolt. “We’re not interested in the Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive! It's fixed! Just open the door, you stupid lump!”
“Leia!” You shout, seeing more troopers enter the hallway, “to your left!”
Beginning to retreat down the corridor, you can faintly hear the triumphant beep of R2, the door sliding open seconds later. Lando pulls Leia away, both passing you before you shoot once more down the hallway, following behind them onto the platform. The exit ramp was already down, a small light emanating from inside.
R2 waits for you to pass before laying cloud fog, blocking the trooper's view before following behind you.
Reaching the Falcon just as the battalion reaches the doors, you and Leia quickly take cover behind one of the legs, shooting towards the troopers while Chewie rushes onto the Falcon, hitting Threepio's head on his way in.
The Falcon rumbles, the engine roaring to life as more stormtroopers begin to flood the platform. Lando turns to you, waving “Leia! (Y/n)! Go!”
Find an opening, you push Leia, both of you running on board. Lando shuts the ramp, following behind you into the cockpit. Passing by the  two droids, you sit down in Hans’ seat, flipping on the deflector shields and helping Chewie with preparing the Falcon for hyperspeed.
“Let's get out of here-”
“Wait!” Leia says, sitting in your usual seat, “what about Luke?”
Breathing heavily, you squeeze your eyes shut, “If he heard us, he should be gone by now-”
“We’ve got to go back!” She cuts you off. Turning sharply, you notice the look in her eyes, the fog that she seemed to be in. Her eyebrows were furrowed, and her hand reached out to grab your arm.
“I know where Luke is.”
Chewie barks in surprise, Lando leaning forwards in his chair, “what?”
“We have to go back.” She states, still looking at you.”
Breathing deeply, you clench your jaw, staring back at her.
“What about those fighters?” Lando voices. Chewie agreeing.
Shaking your head, you look back to the front, “Chewie, just do it.”
Lando scoffs, looking between the three of you, “but what about Vader?!”
Chewie turns towards him, barking and growling. Lando stands from his chair, hands up in surrender.
The Falcon does a graceful turn, the sight of Cloud City not bringing anymore comfort. The sun cast a golden glow over the clouds, the lights beginning to turn on in the city. Dark shadows began to form, making it hard to see anything.
“You better be right,” You murmur. Leia doesn’t respond, but she does move closer to look out the window.
When getting closer to the city, Leia points to the underside, her eyes sharp, “down there.”
Lando leans down, his face next to yours, squinting to see through the shadows before pointing as well, “There's someone down there.”
Staring, you gasp, seeing the small figure cling to a weather vane.
“Its Luke!”
“Chewie, Slow down and we’ll get under him-” you command, turning towards the other two, “Lando, open the top hatch. Leia, take my spot- I’m gonna go with Lando.”
Standing from the chair, you gently touch Leia’s back as you dash out of the cockpit, following Lando as he makes his way to the top hatch. When he stops to open the sliding door, he looks back, you only waving him off.
“You grab him, I’m gonna get a blanket or something.” When you see him continue to stare, you almost stomp your foot, “Hurry, you idiot!”
There's a small cabinet a little further down the hall, and you open it quickly, looking over the old clothes, finally coming across a brown blanket. Grabbing it, you slam the cabinet closed behind you when the sliding door closes. You can feel the Falcon slow to a halt, the outside hatch hissing as it opens.
Seconds almost feel like hours, and when the sliding door finally opens again to reveal Lando and Luke, you almost choke on the newly forming lump in your throat.
Luke looked terrible, to put it lightly. The skin around his eye was deep purple, the color reaching almost to the side of his jaw. The corner of his top lip was busted, blood almost dripping down his chin. His once blonde hair was darker, soaked and sticking to his forehead from sweat. You quickly throw the blanket over his shoulders, his pretty blue eyes finally looking at you. They screamed exhaustion, his body practically falling into you. Lando speaks, but you can’t hear him over the roaring in your ears as you hold Luke’s frail body closer. One of his arms wraps itself around your waist, using some of his remaining energy to hold you tightly.
“Oh, Luke,” you whimper, pulling away to grab his face.
“(Y/n),” he whispers back. His cheeks were sweaty, and he almost collapsed when you let go. Using your strength you grab his other hand, but stop when he yelps in pain, yanking the arm from your grasp. Confused, you look to see what wound he could have obtained, but you fall short when seeing his hand completely gone. The skin charred, clothes burned away.
The ship rocks violently, causing you to grab hold of Luke again, Lando racing towards the cockpit while you carefully pull Luke towards the small medbay. It was only a single bunk, but it had enough supplies to keep someone stable while reaching somewhere more suitable.
Luke’s breathing starts to become labored when you slowly lower him onto the bunk. You make sure to pull the blanket free from his shoulders, laying it over him while he falls onto the thermal padding. More flak hits the Falcon, the small life support machine shaking. You try your best to attach everything correctly, but you stop when a hand grabs your shoulder.
Leia stands with a frown, her eyes looking over Luke before nodding towards you. Moving, you let her quickly stabilize him, his breathing beginning to level out while she attached a cuff to the arm with his missing hand. Rubbing your nose, you try and wipe away the tears that cloud your vision.
You can hear Lando and Chewie shouting to each other, Leia’s voice louder than the flak that hits the ship.
“Go to the cockpit, help those two idiots.”
Breathing deeply, you look back over, “what about Luke?”
Her lips pursed at the frailness of your voice, sees the slight shake in your hands when you pull them away from your eyes. Your cheeks are pink and splotchy, tears wetting your lashes.
“I’ve got him- you go.”
“But-”
“(Y/n). Go, I’ve got him.”
Nodding, you rush to the cockpit. Briefly, you try to spot the two droids, but their nowhere to be found.
“What’s happening?” You curse your voice for cracking, but the two must pretend they don’t notice.
“Three TIE’s are on our tail.”
“What about hyperspeed? We can outrun them if your people repaired the ship.”
Lando throws a look over his shoulder, “I don’t know where we’re going! How can I punch in coordinates?”
Groaning, you turn towards the Nav computer, trying to think of any place that would work. Your mind is jumbled, thoughts running a million miles per minute. With shaking hands, you try and type in random coordinates, but they keep coming up invalid.
Leia rushes in seconds later, the towel she was holding in her hand discarded to the chair next to you. The once cloudy skies turned to stars, the endless expanse of space welcoming you back.
Pointing, Leia grumbles, “Star Destroyer.”
She turns towards the nav system while Lando steers away from the Star Destroyer. Touching your shoulder to gain your attention. Silent words are exchanged, and you back away, going back to stand between Lando and Chewie. Glancing down, you try to ignore all the muted alarms on the control panel, a new one appearing while Lando fiddles with more buttons and switches. When he switches a wrong one, you click your tongue and reach forwards, slapping his hand away to fix his mistake.
“Just like old time- eh?”
Glaring, you almost slap him, “Shut up.”
Lando sighs, glancing back at Leia, “Ready for hyperspeed?”
“Yeah, if your people actually fixed it.”
A green light flickers to life next to Leia, and she nods, “The coordinates are set, it's now or never.”
“All right, Chewie. Punch it!”
Chewie reluctantly pulls back on the throttle. And you breathe a sigh of relief when you can hear the engine winding up. The relief is suddenly ripped away from you when the same sound of the engine dying fills the cabin, both Leia and Chewie looking at Lando, who sits in shock.
“You’ve got to be kriffing kidding me!” you shout, grabbing Lando by the collar when the ship rattles again.
“You told us you fixed it! What happened, huh?!” You throw him back into his chair, storming out of the cockpit. You can hear Lando yelling, Chewie barking over him.
In the main hold, you briefly glance at the two droids on the floor. R2 was slowly putting Threepio back together. Threepio was holding his own leg, watching you storm past before turning back to Chewie, who was hot on your heels.
The Wookiee pulls the floor grates up, grabbing one of his tools and dropping into the floor.
You stop at the system Threepio was hooked up to for what seemed like ages ago, staring at the blinking lights and switches, trying to think of some solution that would get you out of this.
“Noisy brute, why don’t we just go into lightspeed?” You hear Threepio ask, R2 beeping a reply. Blocking them out, you turn to join Chewie. Dropping down, you shield your face when sparks fly from the panel. Chewie grumbles, and you grab another tool from his belt.
“Tell me about it, yeah?”
The ship rocks, and Lando’s voice crackles over the coms, “Chewie!”
You and Chewie work around each other, trying to find what could be wrong with the Hyperdrive, but you couldn’t find anything. Anger filled your stomach, and when you slammed your wrench against the panel, sparks flew.
“Why does this always happen?!” you yell, Chewie replying with a growl.
Peering out of the trench, you watch R2 speed towards the control panel, beginning to work on a circuit board while Threepio stands off to the side, his leg in hand.
“Artoo, come back here at once! You haven’t finished with me yet! You don’t know how to fix the hyperdrive! Chewbacca and Madam (Y/n) can do it. I’m here in pieces and you’re having delusions of grandeur!”
Shaking your head, you look back down. Suddenly, the hyperdrive engine roars back to life, the Falcon lurching into hyperspace so suddenly it throws you into Chewie, who was already leaning against the panel behind him. R2 screams as he’s thrown across the Main Hold, and Threepio is yelling in joy.
Pulling yourself out, you walk back to the cockpit, stopping when you see Luke laying back in your chair. Leia and Lando continue to look over the control panel, only glancing back to spare a soft smile.
“Luke,” you speak softly, his attention turning to you. Standing, he makes his way over, his wounded arm cradled to his torso while the other reaches to rest on your chin.
“Are you all right?” He asks, eyebrows furrowed while looking you over. Scoffing, you grab his elbow, placing your other onto his bicep.
“I should be asking you that, shouldn’t you be resting? Here, I’ll take you back so you-”
“I’d rather be up here with you guys, I’ll be okay.”
There's a certain look to him you can’t quite place, masked by the tired eyes and slumped shoulders.
“Let’s talk in the Main Hold. Lando, Leia join us when you’re ready.” You slowly help Luke back into the Main Hold, Chewie closing up the floor grate while R2 finishes up Threepio. Settling down next to Luke, you finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“You know,” Luke says softly, his gaze flickering to you, “you said we’d talk- when we saw each other again.”
Laughing softly, you pinch the bridge of your nose before looking at him, tilting your head.
“I’d rather wait until you’re in a medbay, again, being looked after so you don't die.”
Scoffing softly, Luke’s head rests against the cushions, “I’m fine-”
Chewie begins barking and growling, Lando scoffing under his breath as he enters the Main Hold. When you look up, you see Leia perched on the engineering station, looking over you and Luke. Tilting your head, you raise an eyebrow, but she waves you off.
“Han?” Lando’s voice is loud, “Go after Han Solo? We can’t go after him!”
R2 rolls over, bumping into Luke’s leg, but he doesn’t move, just groans softly under his breath while his eyes close.
“Maybe you forgot already, Chewbacca, but Boba Fett has Han.”
Chewie replies, but Lando seems to get more heated. He throws an arm out, eyebrows furrowed as he looks up at the Wookiee.
“Honestly, we’re lucky he got away-”
You scoff, “We’re the lucky ones? What a nice thing to say, Lando.”
“Fett’s flying Slave One- Maybe, maybe we could’ve caught him before he went to lightspeed- I mean, this is the Millennium Falcon.”
He pauses, shrugging his shoulders, “but then what? Blast him out of the sky? Iffy- and even if we pulled it off, that’d be the end of our old buddy Han.”
Growling, Chewie pushes Lando, getting into his face. He seems to understand him, holding his hands in surrender, “okay, okay, your old buddy. He was my friend too, though, back in the day.”
“Key word, ‘was’,” you grumble, crossing your arms. Luke tilts his head, confusion crossing his tired features before looking back at Lando and Chewie.
“We all saw you make your choice, Lando.” Leia says sternly. Lando turns to her, huffing, “so did you, princess. We missed our chance to get Boba Fett because you guys,” he throws a hand your way, “decided to go back to Cloud City for him.”
“Hey! Watch yourself, I’ll make Chewie throw you out the top hatch.”
He ignores you, still facing Leia, “what makes him so important to everyone?”
“His name is Luke Skywalker, Lando. He destroyed the Dead Star.” Her voice is softer, uncrossing her arms to place them on her hips. There's a moment of silence, Lando humming before turning to look at Luke, “Huh. No wonder Darth Vader wanted him so badly.”
“Maker,” you mumble, rubbing your eyes harshly.
“Look,” Lando sighs, “we all lost a lot today. You lost a friend, I lost an entire city. Lotta people I care about back on Bespin, you know.”
Threepio waddles into the room, his arms raised, “I lost my arms and legs! I was blown apart!”
You all look at him, and he looks at each one of you before bowing his head, “well, for a bit anyways.”
“Listen, this isn’t a total disaster, Han is my friend, and we’ll get him back. After all, we can’t catch Boba Fett now, but Chewie and I know where he’s gonna take Han, right?”
There's an unsettling churn to your stomach, making you shift in your seat.
“Oh dear,” Threepio starts, “To Jabba the Hutt? Oh, he will certainly murder Captain Solo the first chance he gets!”
Glaring at Threepio, you almost jump when Luke’s hand touches your arm. His voice is filled with confusion, “Han? Where is Han? What are you guys talking about?”
The lump from before forms in your throat again, and you can’t bring yourself to explain the events that happened. You didn’t want to, not yet, at least. Leia walks over, giving you a sympathetic smile while tucking her knee under her when sitting down next to him. She grabs his arm, just above the cuff.
“Darth Vader used Han to test the carbonite chamber, he wanted to use it on you, Luke,” she lets him take in the information for a second before continuing, “He’s still alive but frozen, suspended. Vader gave him to a bounty hunter. Boba Fett.”
Sitting up, Luke’s hand falls from your arm, gripping the couch tightly, “No, no. I was-” he shakes his head, “I think I saw them, Leia- I was right there-”
His voice slowly becomes more frantic, trying to push himself off the couch, “We have to go after him, Leia, we have to-”
You inch forwards, helping him sit back down.
“We will, Luke,” you say softly, “it won't be easy, but we’ll find Han.”
Leia cuts in, concerned, “what about you? You haven't told us what happened.”
He glances at both of you before looking down at his knees, eyebrows furrowing, “I reached out to bed with the force. He didn’t,” he looks at you, defeated, “He didn’t answer me.”
His hand shakes, moving to grip onto your knee. He rubs the material of your jumpsuit with his fingers, shaking his head. He looked broken, face pale and eyes tired. The blood was cleaned from his face, the bruise slowly fading from the bacta Leia must have applied.
You grab his hand, “He will, Luke.”
“And if he doesn't,” Leia’s voice is soft, smiling small as she looks at him, “you’ll find your own path, You’re strong.”
She says something under her breath, but you can’t hear her.
Standing, she turns back to the others, who were looking over the engineering station.
“Maybe we can’t save Han, not yet.”
“What?” maybe you didn’t hear her right.
“We can save everyone else. Chewie, set a course to return to the Rebel fleet, Artoo will give you the coordinates.”
Whistling, Chewie bends down to pat the top of the droid. Lando, pushing away from the engineering station, stands tall in front of the princess.
“Hey, now. The Empire is looking for this ship, and we know damn well they’re hunting the Rebel fleet too. How about we just find a nice quiet spot and wait for the heat to die down a little? I have places we can go. Gal on Nar Shaddaa owed me a favor.”
Frowning, Leia tilts her head. Finally standing, you let go of Luke's hand, “I'm sure she does, Calrissian. But you’re not the Captain, are you? Last I checked, Han was. I doubt he’d trust you with her now, you’d probably be the last person on that very small list. Don’t forget- you betrayed us to the Empire.”
“Oh, come on. I had Darth Vader breathing down my neck, and I still got you all out of there. I should get some credit for that!”
“Credit? For helping others? Gosh,” you say sarcastically, clapping your hands, “do you want a medal? How about we stop everything and have a whole celebration!”
“I’m commandeering this ship for the Rebel fleet, which means you don’t have a say in where it goes,” Leia says, glaring at Lando. He scoffs, looking between the both of you before holding his hands up in surrender.
“Chewie, (Y/n), I'm sure Mon Mothma and the others are wondering where we are.”
Lando followed as you made your way to the cockpit once more. While Chewie was punching in the codes from R2, you sat in your seat, pulling up the radar and deflector shields. They wouldn’t be online until you dropped from lightspeed, but it was best to have the grids up now. Leia sat in Hans’ chair, lightly touching the arms before flipping switches in preparation for the drop. Lando sat behind her, watching as she checked over the now silent alarms.
Chewie barks, the green light on the nav computer flickering on. Sitting down in his seat, he grabs onto the hyperdrive, slowly lowering it.
The Mid-Rim. Rendezvous point Delta-Three. It was located near a star, right between the Vosch Cluster and the trading worlds of Caldra Prime and Caldra Tertius. The rendezvous point had been discovered, the entire fleet being surrounded by the Empire. Squadrons were being chased by TIE’s, others chasing them. The large capital ships were the closest to the star, furthest from the four Star Destroyers that blocked their way out.
Turning on the radar, you cringe at the amount of bogies, quickly turning on the deflector shields as Chewie steered away from incoming fire.
Leia slides on one of the coms, connecting into the Rebel link, “This is Leia Organa in the Millennium Falcon, how can we help?”
A voice comes through not long after, voice distressed, “Glad to hear your voice, Princess, but the Imperials have us locked up pretty good. They just called away some of the TIEs, but we’re still getting hit hard from the Capital Ships. We can’t get past their blockade to jump to lightspeed.”
“Okay. We’ll find a way to help. Be ready to move the moment you see an opportunity- you’ll want to head to the next fallback point. Don’t give up hope.”
“Acknowledged. I’m not sure what you can do, but- May the Force be with you.”
Sliding off the headset, Leia looks out at the fight.
“Chewie, we have to make a hole in that Cordon big enough to escape.”
Lando scoffs, “Make a hole? We should escape! I count four Star Destroyers out there! You know me, I believe in the cause, but this is suicide! We gotta run, live to fight another day!”
Laughing, you shake your head, “the cause? Oh boy, you’re funny!”
Barking, Chewie steers the Falcon sharply, the radar blaring with multiple TIE’s.
“We’ve got company-”
“How nice, all those TIE fighters, just for us.”
Shaking her head, Leia glares at him, standing from the chair, “stop complaining and help, Lando. I’ll get to the guns.”
She runs from the cockpit, and Lando tries to sit down in her seat, but Chewie growls a warning.
“Chewie, you need to let me pilot. You remember how good I used to be at flying? I’m better now!”
Leaning forwards, you lightly touch his shoulder, “I don’t want him here either, but it's our best chance while I’m on the shields.”
“Just trying to survive here, pal. If I pull anything funny, you can rip my arms off.”
Growling, Chewie points to the chair, Lando smiling briefly before sitting down. He slides on the headset, looking around the controls before nodding.
“How are we even gonna do this?” Lando asks, “if those Rebel Frigates can’t make a dent in the Empire's ships, how are we supposed to?”
Flak hits the ship, and you check the internal damage, “use the missiles, you idiot.”
“Missiles? The Falcon doesn’t have missiles!”
Chewie barks, flipping another switch. Leaning back in the chair, Lando watches him, “whoa, two ST2 launchers? What the hell were you guys doing with my ship that made you install that much firepower?”
“Your ship?” You snap, glaring. He only smiles, “anyways, yeah, eight missiles, that’ll pack a punch. But even if they all land, they won’t take out a Star Destroyer.”
Barking and growling, Chewie doesn't even spare him a glance. You didn't even notice R2 and Threepio enter the cockpit until you heard his voice.
“Master Chewbacca suggests that we don't actually need to destroy an entire vessel, merely the gun emplacements on one of the light cruisers. If this succeeds, the integrity of the Cordon will be reduced, and-”
“I understand Shyriiwook, Goldie. I get the idea, doesn’t mean it ain’t crazy.”
“Don’t talk to him like that! Not everyone is so grandiose like you and can understand Chewie.”
Lando frowns, looking at you and Chewie.
“Spending so much time with Han changed you guys, you used to be so rational-”
The control panel goes up in sparks, alarms beginning to ring as you try and assess the damage. Looking around, you find your com underneath Chewie’s seat, plugging it in, you slide it on.
“That blast almost cooked us, Leia, Fore shields took a huge hit.”
“You guys need to get a little better at shooting down these ties or this big heroic rescue of yours will be over right quick” Lando cuts in.
“Lando, we got it!”
“What do you mean ‘We’” You ask, looking at Lando with furrowed eyebrows. He points to the control panel, a small light indicating both turrets were in use.
“Luke’s on the other gun-”
“Why is he on the other gun?!”
“I'm fine!” Luke's voice cuts in, sounding more energetic, “just hard to do this only one-”
He cuts himself off, and you take off the com, not wanting to hear anything else. Another alarm starts blaring, and you stand from your chair to look over the control panel, flipping another switch to direct more power to the front shields.
“This ain’t good at all.” Lando grumbles, trying to dodge more flak that hits the front.
“I thought everything was amazing,” you say, smiling, “I was just about to say we should dock and get something to drink!”
Chewie barks, and you get back into your seat, turning to look at the radar. When suddenly, the engines of the incoming TIE’s seem to explode, like each pilot was intentionally running into each other.
“What the-”
“What’s to understand, princess?” Lando barks into the com, “take the luck you get! Shoot them!”
“We’re coming up on the Cordon,” You get up form your seat again, looking out. The Cordon was quickly coming closer, its guns already firing at the Falcon. Lando steers closer, hands over the missile release, “Leia, Luke, make sure you’re strapped in down there. We’re making our attack run.”
“Kriff,” you curse, turning to make sure the coordinates to the fallback point were set. Not seeing the input, you turn to find R2 already making his way over. Bending down, you open a small panel connecting to the Nav system, and watch as he connects in. His head spins, and in moments the small green light turns on.
You can feel the missiles fly from the Falcon, and you think you can hear when they hit their target. Chewie roars, pulling back on the steering. Lando turns, “Are we ready for lightspeed?”
“Ready- hit it when you’re ready.”
Lando smiles, “hit it Chewie! I can’t believe this actually worked!”
The backup rendezvous Point Gamma-Nine was located just outside of a milky way. What was left of the fleet at the previous rendezvous point was here. The Falcon was docked on The Redemption, and when you finally stepped foot off of it, Luke was out of your sight. You didn’t know where he went, but R2 was rolling after him. You hoped he was heading towards a medbay, but with the way his eyes were downcast, eyebrows knit tight, and how his shoulders were tense, you knew he was going somewhere to deal with everything that happened.
Leia guided you and the others to the control room, the two leading officers from The Redemption already waiting.
“Chewbacca, for the time being, don't let Lando out of your sight.” The commander says, leaning his elbows onto the center console. His gray hair was slicked back, and he had a long beard. Chewie barks in agreement, and Lando holds his hands out.
“Hey now, I just saved every damn ship here!”
You lean against the wall, rubbing your eyes. Your back was starting to hurt from the day, and your side was beginning to throb again. Fatigue begins to settle in your neck, and you close your eyes, still listening in.
“Only because we didn’t let you run away,” Leia retorts, “you’re a question, Lando Calrissian. And until we know the answer, consider yourself a guest to the Rebellion.”
“There's another question too.” She turns back to the other commanders, “how did the Imperials find you? When the fleet scattered after Hoth, the rally points were top secret.”
The other leader, a man who had dark skin and a goatee, spoke up, “they didn't find us Leia. We initiated our scheduled contact with another cell- Eighth Division, out near Malastare. Not long after, they reported that the Imperials found them too. Nothing since.”
You try to make sense of what they were talking about, but Threepio beat you to it.
“If I may, Princess Leia- the odds of two cells of the Rebel fleet being found simultaneously are approximately fourteen point five billion to one. The much more likely scenario is that the Imperials have somehow found a way to-”
Leia cuts him off, “Break our codes.”
The older leader, with the gray hair and full beard, speaks with a gravelly voice.
“If that’s true, it means the moment any Rebel cell communicates with another, the Imperials can pinpoint the location of both groups.”
He sighs, and you can hear him move around. Finally opening your eyes, you watch as Leia begins tapping her foot.
“Must be what happened to us,” he continued, one hand on his hip, “and it's what happened to eight. And we can’t warn the other cells or tell them to switch codes, because as soon as we do-”
“They’ll get attacked, and so will we,” she finishes.
Pushing off of the wall, you stand beside her, looking down at the unused control panel.
“Hell, for all you know, it's already happened. All those other cells might have sent out their little messages, and the Empire could have swung right in, mopped ‘em up. Hell, for all you know, you might be the only ones left.” Lando sighs.
You shake your head, “this might be the entire Rebellion right here.”
The two leaders leave not long after, and you don’t recall the reason they give. You’re too busy listening to Lando and Leia argue back and forth. You’ve taken your spot back on the wall, leaning your head against it with closed eyes. Your head was starting to pound, and you can’t recall the last time you ate or drank anything.
There's a small touch to your shoulder, and when you turn, Luke is there. He looks more defeated than before, eyes sad and bloodshot. Smirking, you reach up to tap his hand.
“Where’ve you been? Started to make me worried.”
He shrugs, voice hushed “just had to be alone for a little.”
“Everything all right?”
“You can trust me!” Lando shouts, making you and Luke jump.
“Can I?” Leia responds.
“No need to be rude, Leia. I’m trying to do you a favor.” Walking past you, Lando waves her off, “I don't get the hostility. I mean, if I'm trying to pull something- what's my angle? Han’s my friend too, whether you believe it or not. But if you don't want my help- don't want to see your handsome rascal again- fine by me.”
She sighs, turning to face him once more, “Lando. Okay, you can go. Take the Millennium Falcon, we can spare it for a little while. I have to stay here to try to find a way to save the Rebel fleet. But if you think you can learn something from your contacts on Tatooine about whether Boba Fett’s brought Han to Jabba yet-”
“I know I can, Princess. I’ll find out if Jabba has Solo. If he doesn’t, I'll look for leads on Fett. It’ll work. I got friends all over that dust bowl.”
Luke tilts his head, letting go of your shoulder, “you say that like it's a good thing, Calrissian.”
Lando has that smirk on his face again, “oh definitely, Luke. Definitely. I can learn things none of you can. Even Chewbacca. I love the big guy, but he doesn’t speak basic. On Tatooine, communication problems get you killed.”
“I’m aware. I grew up there,” Luke deadpans.
“Well,” Leia cuts back in, “Chewie’s still going with you. He’ll take you to Tatooine, and he’ll bring you right back. Right, Chewie? You’ll keep Lando flying straight? And if he tries anything, you’ll-” Chewie cuts her off with a roar.
Pushing off the wall, you ignore the pain in your back, “I’m going with him.”
They turn to look at you, then Lando laughs, “No, you’re not.”
“You really think I’m going to let you dictate that? I know that hellscape like the back of my hand, I think I know a lot more people than you-”
“That’s exactly why you can’t go, (Y/n),” Leia says softly, eyes shining with regret.
Scoffing, you turn to look at her, eyebrows furrowing, “you’re serious?”
“If both you and Chewbacca go, word might get out that you’re back on the planet. Jabba will try anything to have both you and Solo hanging pretty on his wall-”
“Okay!” you shout, silencing Lando, “so what do you want me to do, sit pretty and wait for you to find him?”
“Yes. You have to trust me, second.”
Glaring, you bite the inside of your cheek. Luke touches your lower back, standing next to you, “If Jabba does have Han, let me know. We can Rendezvous at the Jundt Massif, not far from the palace. I know that region, so I can help.”
Lando shakes his head, “Jabba the Hutt ain’t the Death Star, Luke. He needs a subtle touch. And I hate to be blunt, but you’ve only got one hand.”
“I don’t need two hands Lando, I’ve got The Force,” Luke raises his wounded arm, seemingly glaring at the cuff. Lando nods his head once, not believing him, “Uh-huh. Let’s hope so. Because if Boba Fett’s already sold Han to Jabba, it’ll make a rescue mission just about impossible.”
“Getting him out of that palace alive?” Lando smiles softly, “It’d take a miracle. Come on Chewie, time to fly!”
The two talk back and forth as they leave, and you sigh heavily. Leia’s fingers tap against her chin, and Luke watches Lando and Chewie go as well.
“Can we trust him?” He asks softly, looking at Leia.
She shrugs, “only if we know he’s going after something he wants. That’s why I sent Chewie.”
“He’s not wrong,” you speak up, motioning down to Luke’s arm, “you should get your hand fixed.”
Leia sighs, “there's a medical bay a few decks down-”
“I know, Leia. I already talked to the surgical droid, they can make me a replacement. But, I haven’t been feeling like myself lately, not since Bespin. I’m not sure getting a new hand would help.”
She gently grabs his arm, “don't worry, Luke. No matter what happens, you’ll always be you.”
Leia leaves after that, most likely going to follow up with other officers. You stay behind with Luke for a little while longer. He’s looking down at his missing hand, eyebrows furrowed. Stepping closer, you tilt your head to grab his attention.
“She’s right, you know.”
“About what?” He asks, shoulders slouching. He looks at you with defeated eyes and a broken soul, trying desperately to ground himself back into reality by looking at you. Smiling, you reach out and tap the underside of his chin. The corner of his mouth twitches, but none of it reaches his eyes.
“You’ll always be Luke Skywalker.”
He sighs, “and what about you?”
“What do you mean?”
“What am I to you?”
You take a minute, thinking of what to say. You remember your last conversation on Hoth, how Leia kissed him, how he looked like the happiest man in the world after she fled the room. You also remember the short conversation you had with Leia on the Falcon, and the way Luke was desperate to talk to you in the hangar back on Hoth. You weren’t ready to talk about everything, but you came to understand your feelings when you saw him broken and beaten. When he clung to you and whimpered in pain, how he whispered your name like a prayer only meant for The Force to hear.
You were in love with Luke Skywalker, and for once your heart sings his name without being shunned into silence by your naïve mind.
“You’re a man who always does the right thing, no matter what anybody tells you.”
He breathes deeply, breaking eye contact to look down at his hand again, seemingly falling back into the thoughts that cloud his mind.
“Common,” you clear your throat, stepping away from him, “let's get you to the bed bay, yeah?”
Leia joins you when Luke is out of surgery, right by his bedside while you're standing at the large bay windows that overlook the rest of the fleet, Lando’s voice crackles through the com in his hand.
“Luke, we’re ready for take off.”
“Good luck, Lando.” Luke’s voice is more full of life than it was, the med-droid that was working on his arm worked quickly. Leia, already back in her crisp white dress, hair tied tightly into a low bun, stood next to him, watching over the droids work intently.
“When we find Jabba the Hutt and the bounty hunter, we’ll contact you.”
Threepio and R2 join you at the bay window, silently watching along with you.
“I’ll meet you at the rendezvous point on Tatooine.”
“Princess, (Y/n), we’ll find Han.”
You ignore him, clenching your jaw while crossing your arms. You wanted to go, deep down you knew if you pressed harder, you would be in the Falcon too. You’d find Han faster than Lando, but you knew it would be a big risk going to Tatooine when you were wanted as well. Albeit not as much as Han, you’d still be a prize to Jabba.
“Chewie, I’ll be waiting for your signal.” Luke says, you can hear the faint smile in his voice.
Chewie wails over the com, and Luke laughs, “Take care, you two. May the Force be with you.”
Leia lightly touches your shoulder, smiling when you turn to her. Luke yelps once, the droid mechanically apologizing before you can hear him shuffle on the bed, his body sliding in between yours and Leia’s, his arm resting around your waist. His smile was light, and when he turns to Leia, she returns it. His hand tightens around you, and his other slides around Leia’s shoulders, pulling the both of you closer.
You watch as the Falcon begins to fly off, and you raise your hand, giving it a two finger salute just as it jumps into hyperspace. You would find Han, it would just take more time.

Questions that endlessly haunt me: Do Rex and Cody know what happened to their Generals?
Does Cody know Obi-wan survived? Did he know he died on the Death Star? Did Cody see a report come in from the Death Star that Vader had killed Obi-wan? If he did, how would he feel about it? Would he grieve? Would he be indifferent? Would he be pleased? Would he pretend not to care but internally be a mess? Did he feel ashamed for failing to carry out Order 66? Relieved but conflicted? If he had found out Obi-wan was hiding out on Tattooine would he simply report it or track Obi-wan down himself? Would he seek to finish Order 66 or go to beg forgiveness?
Did Rex ever find out what Anakin became? Ahsoka knew but would she have told him? Or would she keep it secret? How would it affect their relationship either way? Would Rex recognize him if he saw Vader fighting? Would he feel betrayed? Angry? Heartbroken? How would Vader react if he saw him? Rex never betrayed Anakin or did anything that could be interpreted as such? Would Vader let him live? try and give him the mercy of a quick death? How would that go down? Did Rex ever met Luke? Or see him on a rebel base or ship? If he did, would he recognize who he was or his lightsaber first? How would Rex feel about Luke? Happy? Nostalgic? Amused? Sad? Uncomfortable?
(Bare in mind i have never seen Bad Batch or the last couple seasons of clone wars)
i'm curled up in my bed sobbing over all of this 😭😭😭😭
so, going off of what we know from Bad Batch, Cody eventually does defect, or he's at least listed as MIA. When we see him in the show, there's definitely a few moments where we see his regret and pain over what's happened, leading to his ultimate MIA classification. we don't knwo what happens to him after that, but i like to believe that Cody found out where Obi-Wan was, and got into contact with him, and the two were able to safely and happily reunite!
I do think Ahsoka would tell Rex that Anakin is Vader, either during their moments together in Rebels, or after Anakin's death. Anakin was so important to both of them that I think Ahsoka wouldn't be able to hide it from him.
When it comes to Luke, Rex is the one Anakin trusted the most with his relationship with Padme. In the last season of The Clone Wars, we see Rex covering for Anakin while he's on a call with Padme. I think Rex would be overjoyed to meet Luke, and just immediately see so much of his general and his favorite senator in him. Rex would also IMMEDIATELY clock that Leia is Luke's twin, she looks far too much like Padme, and her snark is so purely Anakin that if he closes his eyes, he hears his general.
After Anakin's death, I think Rex would sit with both the twins and share stories, not just of Anakin, but also of Padme, and the time that he spent with them. it's bittersweet, but also heartwarming, because Rex gets to pass on the stories of the people he cared about to more people he cares about

The force as part of all living beings always has been part of Star Wars canon
About the discourse with Sabine and Ahsoka and Ahsoka supposely breaking previous canon by training Sabine, I believe it´s best to look at the facts of the previous trilogies first to get a balanced view about this.
Tumblr media
The force always has been part of every living being since the original trilogy, Yoda and Obi-Wan talk about it as a force field that keeps united all living beings in the galaxy, that helps them see the past or the future, how to avoid trouble and how to connect with all living beings around the people using it, this is the original description of what the force is and this didn´t change in the series, Ahsoka is just recognizing this fact to train Sabine in the Jedi arts.
Tumblr media
The level of force sensitivity is the thing at question here, not the force itself, on the battle over the first death star all rebel pilots had the force because all of them were living beings but Luke was stronger in the force than the other pilots and so Vader could detect this, he didn´t say "He is force sensitive" or "He has the force" , he said "The force is STRONG in this one".
Tumblr media
Sabine as a living being with mandalorian training can perfectly learn and practice the Jedi arts even if the intensity of the force in her isn´t as strong as Jedi trained by the Jedi Order, like Kanan, Ahsoka, Anakin or Obi-Wan, she still can learn and become someone like Chirrut Iwe from Rogue One, who certainly was using the force in his daily life and practiced his martial arts trusting it to protect him.
Tumblr media
In fact I could go as far as saying that most of the Rogue One crew, Jyn Erso, Andor, Baze, Chirrut, despite not being jedi or strong in the force, still trusted it to help them steal the death star plans and the only one in the Empire who noticed was Vader, hence his comment about the force being stronger than the Death Star. It doesn´t need to be obvious or impressive, it just needs to allow certain events to happen at the right time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The force always had faith elements to it since the original trilogy and even not strong force sensitives can use it sometimes. Vader knows this for a fact because as a child he knew exactly what to do to protect himself or win the podraces his owner keep putting him expecting him to die at any moment. This is the force acting despite no training and that´s how it acts in most beings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the strongest force sensitives by sheer potential in the series: Anakin, Palpatine, Yoda, Luke and Leia needed traning to truly access that level of conection and control over the force because they may have been the beings with the most potential but this didn´t mean they didn´t need to learn discipline and method to develop their potential.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka and Luke are another example, Luke definitely has more force potential than Ahsoka, as Anakin´s Son "the force is STRONG in my family" , most of it already developed but Ahsoka knows way more about the force(at least at the time the Ahsoka series is happening) than Luke does, for her sheer training and experience.
Tumblr media
So what Ahsoka is doing is traning in the Jedi ways someone who would not have been called or accepted at the temple but who nonetheless can learn to practice the force to help her in battle like Chirrut did or to get a stronger connection with all force sensitives around her and thats not wrong at all, neither does it contradicts any previous trilogy or canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, at this point, Ahsoka isn´t acting on behalf of the Jedi Order, in fact she still has conflicts over it, hence why she has not tried to help Luke more in the rebuilding of the school and my guess is because she´s trying to develop a variant of what the Order believed just involving people with different levels of potential while Luke is trying to rebuilt the school in the classical training of the old Jedi Order, at least in current canon, we don´t know if he will keep that path.
They could either go their own two ways or get to an agreetment over how best to rebuilt the Order but only time can tell and both have reason to want to make this slighty different to the way the old Order managed their training even if they really want to keep the traditions.

Like A Living Mirage.
Summary: before everything Obi-Wan hoped in crumbled, he knew you were the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He just never imagined twin suns in his future.
Word Count: 2,382
A/N: Based on this song & this ask & to the user whose blog was deactivated before I could finish the request. I hope this finds you in another life.
CW/TW: Obi-Wan’s POV; mentions of Order 66, injury, blood, & death; just pure fluff otherwise.
Sunsets where the oranges and pinks melt together into a simmering and radiant red, golden on the skyline.
Tumblr media
There are many aspects of life that are beautiful.
Dew-covered viridescent leaves after the rain has poured, soaking into the dirt and enveloping what feels like the entire earth in a rich, refreshing aroma.
Twilight nights when the stars glitter and glow, reflected in the ripples on the lake below like a mirror to the sky.
There is so much beauty in everything, and even more to discover in the unknown. But no beauty compares to you.
Obi-Wan has known since the moment he laid eyes on you that you are the most beautiful person he’s ever seen. Growing to know you only added to that beauty, being able to see so much of your personality in your appearance.
It doesn’t matter what you wear, or how you style yourself, he is always going to believe that beauty begins and ends with you. Even your voice is radiant. He’s never truly understood addictions, but he can very well say that he’s addicted to you.
Which makes the separation more painful.
Being both Jedi, you each had your respective roles in the war. It wasn’t pretty and as it closed, it only got worse. Many brave soldiers died and many innocent people, too. Even friends.
With his Jedi duty, Obi-Wan had much weighing down on his shoulders. He had lost his brother, Anakin, to the Dark Side, and the war was lost as well. He had trained and fought and failed, and all that was left was an empty shell of a man who once thought hope was more powerful than anything.
Despite the years and the pain, he tries to keep that hope. Anakin and Padmé’s children—the boy, Luke, and the girl, Leia—were cared for under reliable hands. But Obi-Wan could not sit there and do nothing, so he promised to look after the boy on Tatooine, though his help wasn’t entirely welcomed.
It is not an easy task, which is why he had hoped—there that word is again—that you would be by his side to help him.
That was not the case.
He remembers it all too well, having seen you laid on the marble and cracked floor of the Jedi Temple, flattened under a crumbled structure that once held the ceiling but caved under what most likely was an explosion.
There was blood and soot and dust as far as the eye could see, and he prayed with each shaken breath that you were alive. He had lost his brother, he could not lose another piece of his heart.
The Jedi masters before him must have heard his prayers, as when he kneeled to the floor and grabbed your hand tightly, you had coughed yourself back to consciousness, having fallen under after the impact.
Your battalion had turned on you, as did all the clones during that time. Fortunately, you were assumed dead by them and they had left you there. Obi-Wan fears, even now, that had he been even a few minutes later in finding you, you might have been truly dead.
Come with me, he had spoken to you when you both stumbled down the hallway. Come away with me, just the two of us. But you had turned down his offer. Much like he had Anakin, you had someone important as well and you wanted to find them.
But you promised him that one day you would reunite. One day the two of you would be together since the Order had fallen and there was no devotion left to lean upon. Yes, you would meet him one day and you would give him your heart, just as he gives you his—has given you his—and life would never be spent waiting again.
You promised him and he, ever the patience lover, waited for you.
He still does. Obi-Wan waits for you on sandy hills, in darkened corners in cantinas he’d much rather stay out of but he had a duty and he gave his word. He waits under starlit nights, in the concentration he gives to laborious tasks, in each whisper of your name on his lips when he misses you like the sun misses the moon when it rises.
The most he sees of you are in the mirages early in the morning, or late in the afternoon when the twin suns are especially hot. Glossy and rippling against the land, looking like glass or water. When he’s lonely, he looks out across the mirage and he sees you walking toward him with a smile on your lips as you tell him he ought to be more patient.
But patience is never worn gracefully on a broken heart.
When he opens his mind to the thoughts of you and of the war, of what he left behind and what had fallen before he did, every little mistake comes through. He’s tortured by past actions, past words, and past hesitations.
Had he given his hand to you all those years ago and whisked you both away from everything, would things be different?
He knows things would most likely be worse. Though he torments himself with cruelties of how he is at fault for Anakin’s betrayal, he knows deep down that had he not been there at all then maybe there would be more pain inflicted on the galaxy.
How he wishes the pain would surrender his heart, however. He feels aged more by that than by the years, or the grey hairs now featured on his appearance.
Would you still love him, knowing he’s grown older? Of course, everyone does, but he imagines you would never. Your beauty, your presence, is evergreen and glistening. You could walk into his life with wrinkles and he’ll still believe you as more beautiful than when he saw you last.
How time makes a fool of everyone. He wilts away in Tatooine sand, watching his life unfold to him in dreams. In memories.
“Tell me again,” you smiled at him once on a sunkissed afternoon, sitting on marble steps leading into a natural pond.
He was just a padawan then but you, oh Maker—you were the glow of the sun, heating him up from the inside out. He wanted to spend every day with you when there you both sat waiting for your masters, your boots beside you as you swayed your feet in the water.
His cheeks were rosy when you smiled at him, and he couldn’t help but feel delighted. “You are timeless,”
Your face lit up and you laughed, something heartful and bashful in such a serene way. He wanted to make you laugh like that all the time.
“And lovely,” he continued, teasing further but his words were drenched in honesty. “And divine, and splendid,”
Obi-Wan shuffled closer to where you sat, his arm brushing up against yours and leaning into you as you turned your face away. He hadn’t needed to see it to know you were still smiling at him, still loving the tender words he flourished to you.
“And beautiful,” he whispered next, his hand gently placed upon your shoulder.
“Tell me once more,” you had replied in a similar whisper, turning your face toward him, so close and alluring as your eyes glanced at his mouth.
“You are so beautiful,”
He would have kissed you then, had it not been for your master’s voice reaching you both from the top of the staircase. It was enough to draw you away from him, yet that smile remained bright across your lips which he yearned to know.
“You are a tease, Obi-Wan—” you laughed, standing up from the pond, your feet wet as you dipped down to his level to kiss his cheek. “Never change.”
He promised to stay that way for you and he did, even when times grew tough and challenges turned great. He remained the whimsical boy he was beside the pond that afternoon if only to hear you laugh again like you were both children, not peacekeepers.
Despite the eloquence of training and maturing under the Jedi wing, you two were ever young at heart; constantly teasing and flirting with each other, much to the disapproval of your master. Though he wonders what Qui-Gon would have said about it had he not suffered, living long enough to see the way Obi-Wan’s affections grew for you with the years.
No matter how long it had been, Obi-Wan was always youthful around you. Even when he gained more responsibility in the Order. He felt as if he lived two separate lives, though that was hardly the case. But with the Council, with Anakin, with the soldiers and allies, he was responsible. Around you, he was giddy, romantic, and slightly senseless.
He tried desperately to remain the same when you parted ways, but the truth was that he was anguished. And he let honor fall.
“You promise me, won’t you, Obi-Wan?” Your voice was muffled in his shoulder, your arms wrapped tightly around him.
It was one of the few moments he had ever held you in his arms. This time, completely wrapped up in you with his cheek pressed to your temple, and words ebbing from his grieved lips.
“I promise you deeply,” he murmured, holding you tighter. “I will wait until my dying breath. Just promise me that you’ll be there.”
“I will—” you kissed his cheek, then the corner of his mouth. “I will come back to you, Obi-Wan.”
“Please,” his voice was weak, wilting helplessly. “Please, my love,”
He could not let you go. He was not ready to do so, not when he was alone. But he knew you had a commitment like he once had and he could not hold you from it, no matter how desperately he wanted to be the one you ran to.
Time was melting at the seams as his fingers caressed your face, hooking under your jaw and earlobe, like a man desperate to keep ahold of a precious possession. Your eyes were glossy from tears, but your lips were near. He couldn’t let you go like this.
So, he pleaded. “Kiss me.”
When you leaned forward without any hesitation, as if you were waiting for him to ask you, he felt himself come alive. He sparked bright, gleaming iridescent against your lips. Soft but ardent touches restored his broken hope, giving him more life than anything before him ever did or ever will again.
There he opened his heart to you. He parted his lips and opened his lungs, breathing in your love. It was stronger than anything he’s ever felt before, and he holds onto that feeling—onto the memory of your lips against his own and your fingers wrapped around his robes—when he looks across the horizon, waiting to see you return to him.
One day, you’ll be in his arms again if he just waits.
When you find him, you won’t find Obi-Wan. You’ll find Ben; a worker on Tatooine with no family behind him and none to plan for in the future. You’ll find a man with callouses and scars on his skin, with dusted clothes and lines under his eyes. He won’t be exactly the same, but he hopes you’ll have him.
The wind kicks up the layers of clothes you wear when you walk the distance of the skyline to where he sits, aching on a rock that acts like a surface to perch on, somewhere in the depths of the mirage.
It’s not real, he knows that. You’re not really here. He’s seen your face so many times in this same place in those hopeful wishes of his. Though, this time, you look different from what he’s usually imagined. He’s remembered you in Jedi robes. You’re not wearing them this time.
How the sky could laugh at him when he, for a moment, tips into the belief that he’s not dreaming this time. But that can’t be the case. You’ve promised him and he’s never doubted your word, but surely...
Have you found him yet?
The figure of you keeps walking toward him. You don’t disappear into the mirage like you so often do. Instead, you grow nearer and Obi-Wan imagines something he’s never had before; the sound of your boots scraping across the sand.
And you stop in front of him, and he’s squinting up at you like a fool, and you tug the scarf covering the lower half of your face.
And you speak. “I hope you haven’t sat in the sun all day,”
He sits there silently, still watching you. Still waiting for you to disappear. Then you take another step toward him, reaching out to card gentle fingers through the grey in his hair.
“You’re quite handsome in silver.”
Your touch wakes him up and he slowly takes your hand in his, removing your fingers so happily dancing between auburn and grey strands. Immediately, holding your hand—the feeling of your skin underneath his fingertips—assures him that he’s not dreaming at all.
“My love,” he says breathlessly, pressing dazed lips against your palm.
You come down to your knees, brushing your fingers along his cheeks as you hold his face with both your hands.
“I’m here, Obi-Wan,” you smile at him. “I’m here to stay.”
There’s no stopping it, so Obi-Wan lets himself cry. Tears stream down his cheeks as he kneels down to you, and you wrap your arms around him in a hug that he began to think he might never feel again.
Everything was waiting here for you and now every word you spoke to him rings true. Your promise came to life and he’s come alive again at your touch, feeling for the first time in all the years it’s been that he’s a boy again and you’re the padawan he wanted to make laugh all the time.
Belief in hope is a powerful thing, but belief in the one you love is revitalizing.
And Obi-Wan loves you, ever since he was a boy. He loves you forever. He loves you on into the next life. He loves you as the stars climb the sky, under which he marries you just like he himself promised on a sunkissed afternoon by the pond.

I can’t help but find something so fascinating about Legends’ Luke.
He grew up on Tatooine, a place I am still unconvinced has an actual school on it. He grew up somehow being optimistic on the worst planet in the known galaxy. Do you realize how bad Tatooine is? They have a Sarlacc Pit, they have two suns, they have a den of evil and corruption and villainy, and a Hutt lives there! And Luke is still an optimist!
But the way the novels especially portray Luke’s thought process is what fascinates me. Luke isn’t confident in his abilities. Luke doesn’t even fully understand his abilities. He has to figure out how to train Leia when he was barely trained himself. He has to figure out how to teach children when he doesn’t even understand what that would even entail.
He is nervous and he is depressed and he has moments where he thinks about old fights and gets more nervous. He’s also friends with Lando Calrissian, who for all intents and purposes set a trap specifically for Luke! Nobody else trusts Lando as much after that debacle, except for Luke, who apparently talks to him enough for Lando to teach him how to make hot chocolate.
Luke gave his father a second chance. His father who killed countless people and killed Luke’s friends and killed Luke’s family and Luke still believed that he could be good. So of course Luke gives Lando another chance, Luke is the King of Giving Out Second Chances.
There are parts where he just drifts. Where he’s alone and he feels lonely and he doesn’t want to do anything and the weight of everything feels like it’s crushing him. But, he still tries to convince Threepio and Leia that he’s fine. Leia can literally feel his emotions and Luke just tells her he’s fine. Luke tells everyone that he’s fine, when he really just feels lost.
Luke refers to Yoda as his Master and his friend. He considers Obi-Wan his Master and his friend, but more than that even, he loves Obi-Wan and is absolutely crushed when Force Ghost Obi-Wan tells him he’s leaving. Luke went through the most rushed and hurried Jedi training in the history of ever, but he still tries to remember what Yoda and Obi-Wan did. More, he tries to understand why they taught him the way they did. Were they pressed for time or was Luke really just that quick of a learner? Luke has no idea.
But, I think of Luke losing time, a lot. Where he’ll be doing something and he’ll blank out the whole memory. And yes, this is mostly referred to when Luke uses the Force, and I like to think it’s the Force letting Luke sit in the backseat while it drives for a few seconds or minutes. The point isn’t that though. The point is that he loses time and he doesn’t remember things and he doesn’t know how he can use the Force, he doesn’t understand why he can use the Force, and he can’t explain it to anyone, because Luke doesn’t really consciously use the Force that much.
I think we’re meant to assume that Luke is sort of always using the Force. I say this because from the very start back in 1976, we know that Luke would drive full tilt at canyon walls to pull away at the last second. We know that he had a somehow impeccable aim with a blaster. We know that he dodges attacks without even really comprehending why he’s moving. Luke is sort of always using the Force, especially as the movies go on to the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I don’t think Luke knows how not to use the Force, really.
We know that Jedi can hide themselves, even that early on, because Obi-Wan managed to hide his presence from Darth Vader while they were on the Death Star (for a while, at least, and even then, it’s implied that Obi-Wan slipped up for one second. Vader just noticed that slip up because he’s so familiar with Obi-Wan). But hiding himself from Vader is never really an option that Luke considers. He doesn’t know how to hide himself, he doesn’t know how to be anything other than a flashing beacon. Luke uses the Force so casually in Return of the Jedi, and maybe it’s strange, but I really think he can use it so easily because he’s always using it.
Luke dissociates and Luke zones out and Luke thinks about things that have nothing to do with his current dilemma and Luke’s aunt and uncle both died and Obi-Wan (who in the novel is described by Luke as practically being the desert. Luke associates him with Tatooine, because Ben has always been there, and therefore, on some level, Luke associates him with his home) dies and Luke has to shove all of that emotion down to do more action sequences. Luke believes in his father even when Vader is watching him be electrocuted and Luke tried so hard to save Vader by getting him off the ship and Luke burned Anakin in a pyre then went and smiled at Leia to tell her that he was fine.
Luke is a self-sacrificing character on a fundamental level. He does stupid stuff and he doesn’t really expect to live through it. We know this because he’s so excited to live through it. His assumptions were proven wrong, he’s still alive, and he didn’t see that coming.
Luke is also unlike every other Jedi we ever end up seeing. He has attachment because I honestly think that splitting up Force twins would be the equivalent of splitting an atom, so… Luke tries to speak around things, but he always ends up explaining in layman’s terms in the end. His plans are very clear cut, it’s obvious that Leia is the one who comes up with plans because Luke isn’t good at coming up with plans. (All of Luke’s plans are: jump in and hope for the best. Luke should not be allowed to plan anything, I’m hesitant to even let him try and plan lessons, honestly-)
Luke is kind of similar to mavericks like Qui-Gon, but Luke, for the most part, tries to stay in the lines? I cannot stress enough how law-abiding Luke somehow is, despite growing up on fucking Tatooine. Maybe a part of that is that Luke doesn’t have a Council to answer to, but I don’t know. While his actions feel kind of like Qui-Gon, Luke isn’t because Qui-Gon was obsessive and Luke just isn’t. Luke isn’t like Obi-Wan either, because Obi-Wan is one of the most pessimistic optimists in the whole series, and Luke is just an optimist. Anakin is based, later on especially, more on Luke, but Anakin honestly acts more like Leia.
Leia is the one who had a whirlwind romance with an older person, just like her father. Leia is the one who is a War General. Leia is the one who gets angry and irate and hides it beneath a very thin veneer. Leia is the one who talks back to people who want to see her dead. Leia is the one who was still casually chilling in her cell on the Death Star, after being tortured and before her scheduled execution. Leia is the character who chases after escaping figures without really stopping to think. Leia is like Anakin, and I can’t help but think that Anakin’s writing is purposefully based more off of Leia than Luke.
Luke isn’t like the Jedi Council, who answer to a Senate. The New Republic wants him to answer to him, but Luke up and ditches them to go to Dagobah multiple times. In fact, Luke never checks with the New Republic before going somewhere. He might check with Leia, but even then… Luke straight up is like “I’m going to Dagobah. Does anyone know? Of course not. That would be silly.”
Luke is so chaotic, honestly, when portrayed with the New Republic, because they ask him to do or not to do things and he does not listen.
They tell Leia “There’s no time for you to train as a Jedi.”
Luke says: “Dang, I better learn how to becoem a teacher quicker so I can teach you despite the leaders saying no.”
They say: “Luke, the Rebels are going to this rendezvous point, meet us there.”
Luke: “I’ll meet you there in a few months, give or take.”
They say: “Luke, you need to fly in formation.”
Luke: “I am going in, guns blazing, with only fifteen monutes experience driving a ship in outer space, and I am going to go for kills with no back up, and I’m going to encourage my friends to get out of bad situations while I get myself into worse ones, and I’m going to turn off my targetting computer and blow up the Death Star.”
And what can the New Republic even do?? Luke doesn’t have a position, outside of the nebulous “Jedi Master” and Luke doesn’t even have a Jedi Council, so they can’t complain to the Council, like they did in the good ol days and if they treat Luke too poorly or don’t listen to him enough or bother him in any way, Leia Organa Solo will descend upon them with the wrath of ten thousand men. And, to make matters worse, Luke doesn’t let this power go to his head, so they can barely even complain to each other!
The New Republic has literally zero control over Luke and Luke’s actions. They can suggest things and he might do them, but Luke has the power to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. They are lucky he’s loyal, or he would probably dip out mid-mission.
This fact alone makes Luke the strangest Jedi. Luke answers to no one. The Jedi had a Council for thousands of years, but Luke doesn’t. Jedi Masters perform some feat of strength and overcome great trials to reach their station. Luke wasn’t even the one to actually kill the Emperor.
If I were to liken Luke to anyone, maybe it would be Yaddle. Especially with Tales of the Jedi’s depiction of her basically making her a direct mirror to Luke. Yaddle is young, for her species. Yaddle became a Master (I cannot stress enough that this may not be canon anymore, but it was at one point and good God I want it to be so bad) by meditating in a prison for a hundred years. Yaddle is willing to find a way to forgive Dooku for all of his innumerous crimes and she wants to be there for him because she knows Dooku had a strong attachment to his Padawan. Luke is what I imagine Yaddle would act like without the Council. Or maybe, Yaddle is what I imagine Luke would act like with the Council.
But really, there’s no Jedi that acts the way Luke does. Even when they tried to make Rey into a Luke-type, it just didn’t turn out that way. Luke is self-sacrificing, yes. Luke is reckless, he is dumb, he zones out, and he gets attached. But, Luke wants to help people. And Luke has an undying loyalty. And Luke responds to problems in the same way Anakin did, minus all the wrecked ships.
He’s such a unique character, especially in Legends’, and I think what strikes me is that they clearly wanted Luke to be a small version of his father, in the beginning.
But, somehow, Leia still has more in common with Vader than Luke does. Leia and Vader both are the faces of their respective organizations, despite not technically leading. Leia and Vader are both feared when they’re angry. Leia and Vader are both unimpressed and unintimidated by Tarkin. Leia and Vader have parallels and they act as opposites, the obvious being Leia in white and Vader in black. But, there’s also Vader’s complete faith in the Force, and Leia’s line that force just leads to downfall. Even their heights, with Vader being so tall and Leia being so short. They are clearly narrative foils, but in the way that they are similar depsite their differences. They’re both leaders. They even both act arrogant with fake accent. I cannot stress enough that Leia and Vader are so clearly two sides of the same coin, especially in A New Hope. Even down to them both getting excited when they realize Obi-Wan is aboard (albeit for different reasons…)
Luke just doesn’t have that with Vader. I feel like we as a culture are so aware of the twist in the second movie, that we just know it’s coming and so don’t think about Luke’s similarities. The only similarities they really share are that Luke looks like his dad and Luke pilots like his dad. Oh, and Luke has the Force like his dad. They’re both from Tatooine. I suppose you could call Luke’s unwavering faith in Vader’s goodness a reference to Vader’s unwavering faith in the Force. Luke does wear dark colours too. But those are things that come later!
In the first movie, the similarities are just looks, Tatooine, piloting. Luke is inherently innocent in the first movie in a way Vader or Anakin are never portrayed. It’s hinted in the novel and deleted scenes that the Lars family is poor, but just looking at the first movie and novel for reference, there’s no evidence really there to support the idea that Anakin grew up poor. Anakin went off to train with Jedi and fight in a war. Luke also runs off to train with Jedi and fight in a war, but even their motivations are different. Luke only leaves when there’s nothing left for him on Tatooine. Anakin probably could have returned at any point and Owen and Beru would’ve just shrugged and let him stay.
I just, I know Luke is supposed to be a mini version of his father, but it doesn’t feel like Vader was supposed to be that father, in A New Hope.
But, I’ve gotten sidetracked. Luke is a strange character. He dissociates. He cut off Vader’s hand and went “Yeah. I feel like we’re even now. I’m content.” He wonders how he can teach Leia and then dissociates for twenty minutes while using the training bot. He made Leia a lightsaber. He barely ever listens to any authority figure, but he almost always listens to Leia. He can understand binary and is fond of Artoo and Threepio. His best friend was the Force Ghost version of Obi-Wan. He considers Yoda his friend. He strangled a Gamorrean guard to death. He has a friendship with Lando Calrissian that is apparently very strong, but you almost never see them even stand next to each other. He and Leia are so ridiculously intuned to each other that they respond to each other’s thoughts and they can tell if each other is alive even when Leia’s on planet and Luke’s on the second Death Star. Luke probably would have had a similar bond with Vader, but he tried to keep it closed off. Leia gets pregnant with Force-sensitive twins and Luke’s first thought is “How am I going to train these children when I don’t know how to teach???”
Luke is so weird. He’s so strange. He’s absolutely adorable. He’s unlike any other Jedi in the series, and he found the stew Yoda made to be quite tasty, actually.
(Also, speaking of Yoda. Luke shimmied around Yoda’s little house, careful not to break anything, and he ate some stew and he had a talk and then he goes “Wait a minute, why am I sitting here with you? I was looking for Master Yoda >:/“ He got distracted, he got sidetracked, I occasionally jokingly say that Anakin has ADHD but actually it isn’t a joke and Luke definitely isn’t neurotypical either, Luke was just having a gay old time with the weird green man who introduced himself by stealing Luke’s stuff.)

The Idol season one
Tumblr media
When this show was announced, I´ll have to admit that I was excited about it.
The Weeknd is one of my favorite artists in the world. I love his songs, you can really feel his emotions through his music and he has had a huge growth in the last couple of years.
I can say that he is a musical genius and I was excited to see him in a new phase as an actor and producer.
Today, I can say that I´m extremely disappointed with how the show turned out.
So, just like Fate, I will do the same as I did with Fate. I´m going to write what I liked and didn´t like.
There are some spoilers here.
First, let me tell you what this show is about.
Jocelyn is a pop star trying to go back to the top after having a breakdown after her mother died. While struggling with her mental health, she meets a nightclub owner called Tedros.
She and Tedros start a very toxic relationship and he also starts to help her with her music and career.
What I loved
My absolute favorite character is Leia. She´s the only sane person in the whole show. She´s Jocelyn´s best friend, manager, and business partner.
Tumblr media
From the beginning, Leia is very cautious about Tedros. She doesn´t trust him, and when Jocelyn doesn´t listen to her warnings she goes to her management team to ask for help.
Leia fights back, she tries to get her friend away from Tedros and his weird sex cult but ends up failing and leaving her when she realized Jocelyn doesn´t want to be helped.
I really liked her character because her reactions are very genuine. She really feels like a good friend desperate to help Jocelyn. My heart broke every time they pushed her to the side and kept doing toxic crap.
I hated that her ending was just leaving Jocelyn because she realized everyone on her team was insane, especially since we don´t know what ended up happening to her.
She left and that´s the last thing we hear from her.
It´s a shame.
What I liked
Tumblr media
Lily- Rose Depp didn´t shine as much as she could. She gave a really good performance as Jocelyn, there were a few moments when I really felt connected with her character.
Those few moments when she showed us a more complex side of Jocelyn were great. Jocelyn was so much more than just a trainwreck or a pop star. We find out that she was abused by her mother for many years while trying to make her a star.
We see her struggling with her feelings for her mother. How she despised her for the abuse but at the same time she loved her and missed her a lot after her death.
There´s one particular scene that really brought me to tears. Jocelyn is filming the music video for her comeback single and she´s struggling a lot to keep up.
Her outfit is cutting her, her feet are bleeding, and she´s on the floor trying to keep it together when she calls out for her mom. She does it without realizing it because after she reconnects with the world, she doesn´t remember doing it.
I cried so much during the scene because it felt so real. It really felt like I was watching a real person mourning the loss of someone she loved.
It´s a shame this show was so badly written because Jocelyn´s character had a lot of potential. The same goes for Lily´s acting.
I hope this opens more doors for her because she is way too good for a show this bad.
Tumblr media
I don´t really know how to feel about Chloe. She´s not a bad character.
In fact, I would´ve put her on top of Leia´s character if her ending was different.
Chloe was a drug addict that was "saved" by Tedros because she has a really nice voice. It is mentioned that she might be underage but when don´t really find out.
It´s implied that she has a bad family life, and that´s why she found a new family with Tedros and his cult.
She and Jocelyn have a really nice bond, she becomes Jocelyn´s little sister. They trust each other and Jocelyn is very impressed with Chloe´s voice.
She´s a really nice and sweet girl. She´s like a pure soul trapped in a horrible adult world that she wasn´t ready to live in.
Like I said, her ending is what turned me down from loving her character but I´ll talk about that.
Tumblr media
Probably one of the most anticipated roles in this show was Jennie´s.
We all know and love her from Blackpink. Here she plays Dyanne, Jocelyn´s backup dancer.
Dyanne proves to be very talented as a dancer and singer. After Jocelyn´s manager realizes that she might not be able to pull it off, they signed Dyanne to take Jocelyn´s place.
It´s crazy to me that they didn´t use this storyline more.
We see her recording the single and music video, and I really want to point out that we see her doing this but we don´t hear her version of the song.
We also find out that she has a "relationship" with Tedros and he was the one that asked her to bring Jocelyn to his club so they could meet.
She tells Jocelyn that she was going to release her single. After Jocelyn bounces back, her manager basically tells her that now that they have Jocelyn back on top they don´t need her anymore but leave the door open if she writes her own songs.
I don´t even know what to think about Dyanne because we barely know about her. It´s implied that Tedros was pimping her out or something like that but that goes nowhere.
She just goes from backup dancer to the main performer, to reject. That´s it, that´s her whole storyline.
It´s a waste of Jennie´s talent because she did perform very well as a dancer.
What I hated
For those who don´t know, this show was produced and directed by Sam Levinson. If you don´t know him, he´s the guy that did Euphoria...and it really shows.
Tumblr media
The amount of sex scenes and nudity on this show is insane.
It´s freaking Wattpad fan fiction.
Most of the time it´s not even necessary. In the majority of scenes, we see Jocelyn she´s topless and they´re not even subtle about it.
There are scenes where her face isn´t even in focus but her nipples are. She´s laying on the bed, her face in the shadows but her breasts are lighted by the sun. She´s in the bathtub with Tedros, we barely see his upper body but one of her boobs is out of the water for the audience to see.
She also masturbates more than once while choking herself.
It´s the same with Chloe. She arrives at Jocelyn´s mansion and gets excited about the pool, she takes off all her clothes to swim. She gets out of the water and, in an incredibly ridiculous scene, starts playing the piano and singing completely naked.
She walks around the house topless and watches Tedros and Jocelyn having sex.
And same thing goes for the sex scenes.
Tumblr media
Tedros has sex with Jocelyn all the time. In her room, on the side of her pool, in the car, inside a freaking changing room. He touches her, like fully masturbating her, in front of everyone while she´s recording a song.
I was so creeped out by it that I had to pause the show for a moment. The only person that was freaked out about was Leia, she just witnessed her best friend being assaulted by a creep but Izaak, another member of the sex cult, kept trying to tell her that was just the process Jocelyn needed.
At this point, you probably noticed that I keep calling Tedros´ group a sex cult. Well, that´s exactly what they are.
The show tries to portray it as a group of lost souls that are very talented and being sexy was their way of expressing their art. That´s a bunch of crap.
There´s a part where one executive of the record label points out how similar they are to Marilyn Manson and his cult. He nailed it. Are they talented? Absolutely but that doesn´t take away the fact that they are very disturbed people that need professional help, not a music contract.
Let´s talk about the characters.
Tumblr media
Yet another very popular artist with an underwhelming character.
Xander is a useless character. He´s Jocelyn´s creative director and friend but his storyline was very confusing to me.
He supported Jocelyn but didn´t do anything to help her when she was being abused, he was outed by her mother, and for some reason, he stopped singing despite being talented and that was Jocelyn´s fault somehow. He was tortured by Tedros with a shock collar, then part of the cult, then falsely accused Jocelyn´s ex-boyfriend of raping a girl (that storyline was just thrown there BTW, it didn´t go anywhere), he sang again against Jocelyn´s wishes but then she was okay with it and made him part of her tour.
A complete mess. The story would´ve had the same ending without him in it.
Tumblr media
Izaak was another character that I didn´t care much for. He had sex with Leia a couple of times but it felt like he was only doing that to manipulate her. He was just a weird sex object.
Most of his time on screen he was dancing half naked, he was also tortured with the shock collar, whenever he got a bit more dimensional it was cut by saying how much of a genius Tedros was.
He and Chloe are very talented singers, it´s understandable that they would´ve wanted them as recording artists but it was clear that they were very disturbed over the things they had to do for Tedros. Yet, their ending was being part of Jocelyn´s tour all happy.
Tumblr media
Jocelyn´s team is the most useless team in the world. Even the ones we are supposed to think of as "the good guys" are bad.
Chaim and Destiny are supposed to be her support, they care for her as a person, not an artist but they just let Tedros take advantage of her. They know how bad he is, they know how much he´s damaging her, and they know he has a sex cult, but they do nothing about it until the end. Well, Chaim does.
Despite everything he did to all her new artists, Destiny brings him back to be with Jocelyn. Not like part of her team, as her boyfriend.
Plus, like I said again, they knew how disturbed Tedros´ cult members were and all they could think of was to make them stars.
In the last episode, we see the group presenting their songs to the label executive. They were literally acting like they were in a strip club and Chaim and Destiny were thinking how great they were and how they wanted to sell them as sexy.
Before I talk about The Weeknd´s character I want to talk about another character that I thought was useless.
Talia, a writer for Vanity Fair, was following Jocelyn for an article. I thought this was going to lead to some kind of reflection of Jocelyn as a character or show the public how much she struggled but nope. Talia was just used at the end as a tool for Chaim to reveal information about Tedros and get rid of him temporarily because, like I said, in one of the dumbest moves ever, Destiny brought him back.
Now, let´s talk about the man himself.
Tumblr media
Let me start by saying that I don´t really understand what was he thinking. The Weeknd was also a producer for this show.
I don´t understand why he didn´t give himself a singing role.
We do hear some of his music in the background but he doesn´t sing on the show as his character which is weird to me.
He´s probably one of the most popular performers today. In fact, at the end of the show, we see Jocelyn having a concert in a huge and filled arena. When I first saw I wondered how they were able to stage a huge production like that until I saw the stage. That packed arena was one the Weeknd´s shows.
That´s how popular he is.
I also don´t get how he chose to have such a bad character.
Tedros is just a bad character. He has dialogues that tried to be deep and inspiring but he only sounds like an asshole.
His cult and Jocelyn keep trying to paint him as someone that brings creativity out of them but he´s just a drug addict that tortures them.
He literally beats Jocelyn up after she shared her abuse story, like I mentioned before, he assaulted her in front of everyone while she recorded a song, abused her staff, gave her drugs, and tortured Izaak and Xander with a shock collar.
His relationship with Jocelyn was also disturbing.
Tumblr media
The best way I can describe it is as Christian Grey and Anastasia.
She was obsessed with him the moment they met, she instantly trusted him over everyone else.
I never understood why he was interested in her.
For a moment I thought he was into her for her money because it´s mentioned that he has money troubles but then we realize that he´s recruiting talented singers for his sex cult and to work in his nightclub but he always manipulated her with sex.
I think the show would´ve worked so much better without him. We had a really interesting story about a pop star struggling with her mental health being replaced by her dancer, attacked by the media, that was a winning formula but they decided to make it a literal adult show. Take out some dialogue and this is just soft porn.
Tumblr media
I heard that the original director for this show, Amy Seimetz, was replaced by Sam after some disagreements especially with the vision for the show. Apparently, she wanted to give too much of a female perspective.
How I wished she stayed. The show might have worked better if we kept the female perspective instead.
That´s why this show is called The Idol. We should be focusing on Jocelyn and her struggles, she´s the Idol.
Not a creep with a sex cult.

okay okay i’m obsessed with the exchange between ahsoka and ezra in a world between worlds from rebels.
“kanan gave his life so that you could live. if he’s taken out of this moment you all die.” and she goes on saying “kanan found the moment he was needed most and he did what he had to do, for everyone.”
people complain about this episode because time travel [it’s not time travel. it’s a plane outside of time and space]. i’ve personally always been more focused on the elements of how the episode is really about grief, with a little bit of the force and fate thrown in.
the world between worlds holds a mirror up to ezra’s grief trying to impart the lesson that he must let go as everyone has their time, has their moment and holding on to people too tightly will lead you down a dark path. it literally uses ahsoka’s grief over being unable to save anakin [the prime example of being unable to let go] to gently give ezra the empathy and guidance he needs to move forward. she also literally helps prevent the evil from being let into the world between worlds [palpatine tries to use ezra’s grief as a stepping stone the way he used anakin’s].
this also does eventually inspire ezra to find his moment where he is needed most later in the finale.
but the reason i’m talking about that at all is that i’m obsessed with how it applies to the force, fate, destiny and cassian andor.
when the show was announced i wasn’t fully sold on the idea. cassian andor died in rogue one. why did we need a prequel of a character that died in a prequel movie? i was wrong and i’m glad i was wrong. there’s a multitude of reasons why i’m glad we’re getting this show but i’ve been chewing on how cassian has plot armor.
cassian andor cannot die in this show. he cannot die because he’s not allowed to die yet. he hasn’t gotten to the moment where he’s needed most.
cassain andor cannot die because he has to fight for the rebellion. cassian andor cannot die because he has to meet jyn erso. he cannot die because he has to help steal the death star plans so they can get to leia and ultimately to luke skywalker. he cannot die because he has to die on that beach on scarif.
cassian andor is not allowed to die just yet because the force wills it and the force demands it.
it’s a tragedy. the audience knows cassian is doomed before the first episode even starts and yet a part of you always foolishly hopes that fate is wrong but like ezra we too must learn to let go.

A Flicker of Light Chapter Eighteen
Story Summary: A canon divergent AU in which Luke Skywalker is raised within the Empire to be either his father's heir as a Sith Lord… or his replacement.
Chapter Summary: Luke makes a deal with Bail Organa.
FFN II AO3
----
Luke had played the scenario over and over again in his mind on the flight to Alderaan, all the while hoping to spark some kind of glimpse into the future. He had imagined what he had thought was every different angle this conversation could play out. Best case - far fetched as it was - Organa would accept the intel and the two of them would settle on the terms of the arrangement. The absolute worst case - equally as far fetched, he thought - was that the Senator would turn him over to Palpatine for treason. There was a whole range of possibilities between those two, but in every scenario he'd assumed Organa would say something. This utter silence was deafening. And nerve wracking. It was grating on already dangerously frayed nerves.
He pushed a quick breath out through his nose. "Did you hear when I said this is time sensitive?"
"Does he know?"
Luke set his jaw, willing the calm into his voice. "You're going to have to be more specific."
"Your father. About my daughter."
"You're focusing on the wrong thing. Palpatine has —"
"Does your father know about my daughter?" Bail Organa ground out as he stood, using his desk to leverage himself. "If you've put her in danger…"
"He wouldn't hurt her."
It was Organa's turn to give a dismissive snort, but he looked to swallow the immediate response before it tumbled into the open where it couldn't be taken back. He still stood stiffly, leaning slightly on the massive desk between them, and his dark gaze bore into Luke. "You may believe that, but nothing else - no matter what it is - will be discussed until you answer my question."
Luke pulled in a breath. This was a waste of time, but he didn't have a choice. Organa was balanced perfectly in a place of access and - at least as far as his mother had believed - trustworthiness. Without him, Luke had no way to reach anyone that could help him destroy the monstrosity Sidious was building. Everything had a cost, and as absurd and petty as Organa's fear was, the truth seemed to be the price of being heard out on this.
Slowly, Luke released the breath. "It's not my secret to tell, and there's no reason for him to think I'm anything but an only child."
Organa's tense stance eased ever so slightly. "You knew."
The younger man shrugged. "I felt it when I met her, but it was just a hunch. I didn't know for sure until I saw this." He reached into his robes and pulled the disk he'd taken to carrying around with him. Organa's eyes widened as Padmé Amadala's smiling face appeared. "No one but me knows why I went looking. I won't be the one to tell anybody."
"Not even Leia?"
Luke flicked his thumb across the switch, the image disappearing. "It's not my secret to tell," he repeated carefully. Though he imagined Leia would find out someday. The Force was strong with her. It would lead her where she needed to go.
A long moment passed before Organa finally nodded, accepting the statement as truth.
"I'm coming here as much for her as I am for us," Luke said firmly, trying to steer the conversation back on topic. "The ISB has never been able to prove that your diplomatic missions are a cover to provide aid to the Rebellion and your seat in the Senate has protected you, but if the Death Star is completed, there'll be no need for the Senate. Palpatine will rule by pure, brutal force."
"Something that destructive, how could it even be powered?"
"Kyber crystals. The same that power a lightsaber. Just…. Bigger, I imagine. I've gotten ahold of the director of the project and he thinks Palpatine sent me to confirm everything is on schedule. I gave him two standard weeks to prove to me he's even capable of scaling the power source."
The colour washed out of Organa's face. "You're going to destroy a planet?"
"No. That'd bring all eyes on it. It'll be subtle. But my point is I have his ear and he's desperate to prove himself. I can get you information on it."
"And what do you expect me to do with that?"
"Don't play games. The ISB can't prove it, but we all know you have links to the Rebellion. They have firepower. Maybe not enough to overthrow the Empire, but if I can find a weakness in the design —"
"And what do you want in return?"
And this is where things got tricky. It was the only way he survived this. That his father survived. The problem was that voicing it in any other way than a vague dream to Mara left him terrified. This was treason. Active, intentional treason.
"A way out. For me, for my father, and a… friend, if she'll come. We'd all be able to bring in more intelligence than a hundred of your Fulcrum agents could ever dream of."
Organa's brows drew together, his tone skeptical as he spoke. "And your father wants this?"
"Father knows the two of us don't survive if Palpatine does. He's always known that. This may not be… how he planned to deal with it, but we have to do something. If he has to choose - really has to choose - he'll choose me."
A sigh escaped the older man and he shook his head. "Natus —"
"Luke," he corrected, "but you already knew that."
"It's the name your mother gave you."
"I'll handle Father and get you the intel. I need your word that when this comes out - because Sidious sees everything eventually - we have a place to go."
"I can't unilaterally make that decision," Organa said softly.
Luke stood in the room, his sister's adopted father refusing to meet his eyes now. He felt exposed, even more than he had been before, but as he searched for the right path forward, dark eyes met his. "But I've been told I'm very persuasive. Get the intel, Luke, and I give you my word that you won't be standing alone in this. I'll make sure you're all protected."
The young Imperial loosed a surprisingly shaky breath and nodded. But then a flicker through the Foce caught his attention. The only warning he felt before the door burst open.
—-
Luke. The name was bizarrely familiar, even if it wasn't a common name on Alderaan or any name that stood out from her travels. Even so, the name had come crashing down into place, fitting in ways Natus never did. While Leia was relatively certain that Natus and Vader were not the son and father's given names, logic reminded her that Natus wouldn't have given his real name to a scruffy looking smuggler that would sell it to the highest bidder once he'd parted ways with the younger man. Even so…. the name clicked into place like a missing piece on a droid undergoing repairs. She couldn't explain it, but she knew it, and in her experience her instincts on matters like this were rarely wrong.
"You know you're going to get me in a lot of trouble," Solo said from a few steps behind her, his gait slower despite his height. Where Leia moved with urgency, her steps quick and precise, Solo seemed to be trying to buy time with his hands in his pockets, his slower steps, and the way he kept hanging back.
"I'll handle Natus."
"You seem real sure the guy I brought in is this Natus friend of yours."
"We're not friends," Leia countered and she could practically feel him quirk an eyebrow at her.
Suddenly - and irritatingly smoothly - he'd picked up the pace and had appeared at her side, confirming the quirked eyebrow and a lopsided smirk to accompany it. "Boyfriend then?"
"Certainly not."
Solo hummed softly at that, the smirk only broadening as if he were somehow invested in the answer. She huffed and turned her attention back to the office door they were approaching, channeling all of her irritation with the smug pilot into the quick shove she gave to them, barreling in without warning.
And there he was. Vader's own son standing with her father and she could feel the last tendrils of his attempted mind control burning away with her anger as his blue eyes met her own brown. "Leia," he breathed. "What are you—"
"You want to play Sith mind games with me, this is what you get," she snapped. "I found why there was no record of you coming to Alderaan. A smuggler? What could possibly be so —"
"Solo?" Natus demanded, gaze snapping behind her like he'd just realized the pilot was there.
Solo, for his part, raised his hands in mock surrender. "Don't look at me. Her eminence over here -"
"I told you to stop calling me that!"
"— came barging in, throwing threats around, and —"
"Enough," Father cut in, almost forgotten from where he'd been standing with Natus. "Leia, what do you mean by Sith mind games?"
Leia saw Natus tense a little at that and she had to struggle to keep her expression even. "He can manipulate some people to do what he wants. He tried it on me, but it didn't work."
"And you couldn't just tell me that at the time?" Natus groused.
"Usually you can find more information if you dig a little deeper rather than just relying on a liar's word."
"I didn't lie to you. I was trying to protect you."
"I don't need your protection, Luke."
It had been an impulse decision to see how he reacted to the name, and Vader's son certainly reacted. Something shifted in the air, almost like a chill had settled over them. His eyes - usually light and amused when he spoke with her - turned hard and the door slammed shut behind her without anyone touching it. Every one of his muscles must have been tensed.
But, strangely enough, it was her father that spoke. "Where did you hear that name?"
Leia blinked in confusion. Why would he know it?
"Kriff it all, Mara," Natus - or perhaps Luke - snarled under his breath and he turned that dangerous look on Solo. "She should never have used it with you."
Solo took a step back, real fear creeping into his expression. "Listen, I don't know what's going on. I just gave her the fake name your friend gave me. It's fake, right? Don't know, don't care. I'm just here to fly you in and out and get paid. No need to—" Solo choked to a stop, eyes widening and Leia saw Luke's head tilt ever so slightly, his fingers twitching at his side, and Solo couldn't seem to catch his breath.
"No!" Leia shouted, realizing what he was doing. "I brought him into this. I —"
"Luke, stop," her father said as he reached a hand out, clasping the younger man's shoulder. "You dragged him into this. He's an innocent bystander."
"That could now get us all killed."
Solo choked again and Leia looked between the three men frantically. She couldn't stop it. She had only wanted answers and now something that had been said had set Natus off.
"Then we make sure that his loyalty is with us. I imagine it can be bought, can't it, Captain?"
Solo nodded emphatically, but Natus didn't seem convinced just yet.
Leia's father loosed a shaky breath. "Luke, I know you don't remember your mother, but I do. You're right that she was my friend and that we trusted each other. I can tell you she wouldn't want you to hurt an innocent man."
There was a beat of quiet, save for Solo's desperate attempt to breathe, but then something changed in those blue eyes and Luke released the captain. Solo sucked in a lungful of air and dropped to his knees. Leia knelt with him, a hand on his back and coaxing him through it.
"You have two options, Solo," Natus said, his voice strained and raw. "You can continue to help me get to where I need to go when the Empire can't know and be paid handsomely for it or you can betray me. Neither the Senator or his daughter can save you if it's the latter."
"There an option in there where I just walk away?" Solo coughed out.
"No."
There was a long moment, but there really wasn't a. Voice to be made. Solo cleared his throat and gave a small nod, a forced nonchalance in his tone. "It's gonna be a hefty fee."
"You'll be paid. Regularly and in full each time."
Slowly - and steadier than Leia might have anticipated - the smuggler got to his feet and rubbed at his throat. "You got yourself a deal then."
The chill dissipated and Leia saw her father sigh heavily. "Alright. You should know what you're getting into —"
"No. Absolutely not," Solo countered with raised hands and a step back. "I'm just the pilot. I'm here to get paid, not get into the middle of whatever this is. Less I know the better."
Leia's gaze shifted between each of the men, but she was the one who spoke. "You better be there when he needs to leave."
"I like my head attached to my neck. Not crossing him, sweetheart."
He pivoted towards the door, leaving the three remaining. Leia turned back to them. "He may want to be kept out of the loop, but I don't. I won't be kept out. Start talking."
"Take a seat," her father instructed in that tone that said he knew he didn't have another choice. "We'll get you caught up."

It was dangerous to have the Aeres orbiting the planet, but it added a sense of authority to the demands Luke had made. He hadn't told his crew anything but to remain steady over the north-western hemisphere, which would keep them on the opposite side of the planet that Krennic planned to use for the experiment, and to shut down the sensors that might pick up on said experiment.
The planet had been inhabited once, but after nearly twenty years of being used for various Imperial experiments, all that remained was a desolate wasteland in the Outer Rim that no longer even had a name. Only a number was left: EX1003, and along with the name and its former inhabitants, the history of the world had been wiped from existence as well. It was strange and it was eerie, but in a way that Luke didn't think would have bothered him before. It wouldn't have bothered him now if they weren't there to test a weapon that could erase the existence of any planet that Darth Sidious chose on his whim.
Luke rarely wore a military uniform, opting instead for dark robes that allowed him to move easier when an inevitable battle erupted around him, but he'd pulled the crisp white uniform from the back of his closet. It was stiff and limited his stride. The uniform boots were louder and his shuttle was met with an irritating number of crewmen.
"My Lord Natus," Krennic greeted, giving a small bow so that his cape swept out. "Welcome."
"All this wasn't needed," Luke answered with a sharp wave towards the men and women in Impirial Navy uniforms lined up along the sides of the walkway. "I'm sure they have duties they could be seeing to."
"Of course, my lord. It's just…. protocol, of course, when a ranking member such as your father or yourself or -"
"And what rank is that?"
That stopped him and he cleared his throat, seemingly desperate to hide his discomfort. He was nervous, which either meant that he expected this to go poorly, that Tarkin had been pushing down on him again, or both.
Luke met his gaze. "I'm not Tarkin. There's no need for some grand gesture, Director. Only results." From the way Krennic's tenseness eased just a little, it looked like Tarkin was the culprit.
"Of course, my lord. Your time is valuable, and I shouldn't want to waste any of it."
They moved together and the crewmen dispersed behind them, eager to get back to whatever work they had to do rather than stand at full attention to welcome Vader's son for a minute longer. Luke glanced out of the corner of his eye, watching Krennic. "You've said nothing of this to Tarkin."
The director appeared startled by the question given as a statement, but recovered relatively quickly. "No, my lord. You had mentioned that he might -"
"Try to step in? You and I both know he would. He's here for the glory. I'm here to further the Empire and make sure that our enemies are dealt with in the most efficient way possible."
Krennic nodded eagerly to that. "Of course. You'll see today that this weapon will have the capacity to bring any Rebellion to its knees before it ever gains footing."
"And the lead scientists on this? I'd like to meet them today. If things go well, congratulations will be in order." And if not, the whole Empire knew what his father would have done to them. The threat was certainly easy to hear in the unspoken words.
"I'm…. afraid he's still on Eadu. With the construction near completion, the refining of the additional crystals needed to bring the Death Star to full power has their focus."
Which made sense, of course, but Luke had hoped this would be his in to find out exactly who was working beneath Krennic. The whole program was a blackhole of information and he didn't want to find a way to destroy the damned thing just to have another one pop up in its place. Well, at least he had a location. He could track down information from there.
They moved through the station, the halls quieter than they would be once it was fully operational. They were running on a skeleton crew for security's sake at this point, which left Luke to wonder what essential work his welcoming crew had been pulled from. Krennic was nothing if not ambitious, and while Vader likely would have been his preference, Luke represented a chance to make sure that Palpatine praised the director for all of his accomplishments rather than Tarkin.
Doors slid open to allow them access to the battle station's bridge. A few men and women scurried - likely having taken a different route back to their stations so that they didn't appear to rush past their director and Lord Natus - but Luke's gaze was fixed on the viewport. He recognized the upgraded window that could be toggled between an unencumbered view of outside space, visuals piped in from the computer system, and the typical screen that blacked out the view when needed. In this case, they seemed to be following a droid on the ground that was feeding images back to them.
"I trust this test won't set off any alarms," Luke said as he watched the video sweep the desolate land below. "The Senate can't know about this yet."
"All precautions have been taken, my lord," Krennic assured him.
"And the target?"
"There's an old temple left standing in this hemisphere. We should get the exact coordinates… there we are."
Luke watched as the image flickered onto the screen. Standing tall against the ravished land around it was what he instinctively knew had been a Jedi temple. Ancient and forgotten, the decades had marched on as it had been left to neglect without the old Order to maintain it. Now, just as they had been, it would be wiped away until even the memory of it faded from the galaxy.
"My lord?" Krennic prompted.
"When you're ready, director," Luke answered, his voice smaller than it should have been. He listened to Krennic order a single reactor ignition to target the temple, and his voice might as well have been heard from down a long corridor as the younger Imperial turned to force himself to watch.
The entire base buzzed with power, gathering as the view shifted back to the planet from above, the droid that had been left to provide the coordinates not long for its existence. A chill swept through Luke as the shot went off, a single beam barreling down towards the temple and he squared his shoulders to keep himself still. It struck the planet, and even if he could no longer see the temple itself, he could feel it. The chill settled deep in his chest and spread through him as the planet exploded upward where the structure had been. It wasn't fear, but understanding. This was wrong.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Krennic asked, his voice filled with wonder as chunks of rock and plumes of fire reached up towards the atmosphere. "When completed, this base will be capable of fracturing a planet to its core and destroying it. No one will dare stand against the Empire."
"No one will be able to," Luke breathed, gathering himself. "You've done… well, director."
"Then you'll speak to the Emperor?"
Luke turned, finding the older man's eager gaze fixed on him. "I have good things to report to him, but it's not completed. I want to be kept up to date as things progress."
"Of course, my lord," Krennic answered, barely containing himself. It was what the director wanted to hear and what would keep Luke in the loop moving forward.
He hadn't lived a sheltered life. Violence and death had surrounded him from an early age and, just as Father had taught him, he'd learned to use it to his advantage. Very little phased him quite like each new piece of the dangerous puzzle that was Sidious' Death Star. With its completion the Emperor would have no use for both father and son to play the role of visible enforcers. The planet killer could do that work for him with no threat of pushback. The future that both Luke and Vader had known was coming for some time was rapidly becoming their present, and Luke could only hope he had time to destroy it.
No. He had to make time. The only way to do that would be to throw a wrench into the Krennic's process. He was gathering Kyber crystals from somewhere and sending them to Eadu for refinement to power the battle station's main weapon. Going directly to Eadu was risky, but he might be able to track down the mining operation and slow the process there.
Captain Renz greeted him in the hangar bay upon his return to the Aeres, putting a momentary pause to Luke's swirling thoughts as he picked through the reasons Renz wouldn't have simply waited for him on the bridge, as was their habit. The Imperial captain looked strained as he stood waiting at the bottom of the shuttle's ramp, and Luke forced himself to focus. "Captain."
"My lord," Renz greeted back, his back straight and shoulders squared.
Luke nodded and Renz fell into step with him. He didn't like the way the hesitation other man seemed unable to get around. Luke was many things, but he'd never been one to go after the messenger without cause. The only thing that sprang to mind was that Renz had overlooked a sensor that he'd been instructed to turn off to keep the Aeres from catching a signal from the Death Star, thought that wasn't probable either after all the years Renz had successfully cleaned up behind the Executor's former captain when he'd served as Commander for Luke's father. Renz was nothing if not thorough in his duties. "Whatever it is, Captain, out with it."
"We've been called away, sir."
Dread settled in. "By the Emperor?"
"No, my lord. By his Hand. She was… quite insistent. And quite perturbed by the fact that you were unreachable."
Ah. That explained the nervousness then. Mara never did like being told to wait.
"She said she would come to us and I know how sensitive you said this mission was —"
"You gave her our location?"
All at once the strain was replaced by offense. "My lord, I would never betray your confidence."
"Brave man standing up to the Emperor's Hand," Luke chuckled and his smirk broadened nearly to a smile. "Don't worry. You're under my protection. Even from her."
"Thank you, Lord Natus."
"I'll take her transmission in my quarters. Did she leave coordinates?"
"She did."
"Then let's get going." Everything else would have to wait. He didn't dare give Mara a reason to start asking questions just yet.

Notes: I had hit a point in this story where I had a lot of wiggle room when it came to events. It was more about keeping my own timeline straight rather than having to match it up to canon's. I took a few days to really work through to make sure everything's lined up timeline wise for the next few chapters and there'll be several cameos along the way! Some that we've seen before, some that we haven't. Anyone want to take a guess?
Next Time: Luke finds himself between his father, Mara, and his undefined new alliance with the Rebels when Mara pulls him in to help with an intelligence breach.

Your birth was one that would not have happened without the fall of the republic and the Jedi. It is hard to be grateful for life when so many had to lose theirs to have yours. Nevertheless, you proceeded to be a good person and do right by the galaxy by joining the rebellion.
You were currently with Luke Skywalker, a long time friend trying to find a way to escape the death star you currently walked. Luke and Leia are three years your senior but you were a far more skilled Jedi than Luke was. You would have to thank your father for that.
When you were close to the ship you found your father dueling with his old Padawan. Obi wan Kenobi glanced at you all giving you a small smile before his once brother slashed your father with his lightsaber.
“NO!” You and Luke yelled. You were torn apart from the grief and stared Vader down so he would know the pain you felt in your very soul.
“The anger consumes you, young one.” He says to you barely audible, and if it wasn’t for Han and Leia you would have ran over to him with your lightsaber, but the more you thought of it, the more you knew your father wouldn’t want that.
After that, the moments passed by, and before you knew it, you had succeeded in destroying the death star, but that was not the end of the Empire forever.
The four of you established a strong bond, relying on each other for everything, along with Artoo and Threepio. Luke and you got close, but he stepped away from your ever growing relationship. He was going to be a Jedi, his mind was made up. Although you thought it was a flaw in the way of the Jedi, you meekly respected his decision and nursed your broken heart as best as you could
In the end, Darth Vader returned to being Anakin Skywalker, pilot and Jedi Master in his passing. Luke buried him honorably and he had become a great Jedi in such a short amount of time.
In your celebration of the Empire’s fall, you sat watching all the Ewok’s dance. Luke walked up to you a wide smile. “Are you sure I can’t convince you to come with me?” Luke wanted to rebuild a Jedi school, and although you wanted to, it was only because you wanted to be close to him.
You shook your head with a grin. “I am no Jedi, Luke.” He frowns a bit, kneeling down to you. “Don’t look at me like that.” You chuckle.
“Like what.” He laughs back.
“You’re making this very hard, Luke.” You sigh. “I still care about you.”
He shrugs. “I still care about you too.”
You shake your head looking at him seriously. “You know that’s not how I meant it.” He says nothing which just further emulates your point. “If you feel your destiny is this, then that is what it is Luke, and I will not steer you away from that. But keeping me around knowing we’ll never amount to anything is not fair to either of us. This is not my destiny, I am not meant to be a full Jedi.”
He nods slowly taking in your words. Luke did want to be with you and he wanted to be Jedi, but he saw what it did to his father, and he did not want to forsaken himself. “What are you meant to be.”
“I am a Jedi, in a sense, but I am also a Mandalorian.” These two ideologies always conflicted you in a similar way they conflicted your father. In the end, he gave in to what he wanted and married your mother. A match no one ever really saw coming. Mandalorians were about family whereas Jedi were just understanding connections and did not give in to them. "I want a family and I will find one. That is the way.”
“I’m sorry I can’t be that for you.” He says.
“Never apologize. You are a Jedi, and I understand that more than anyone.” Luke embraces you and for some reason you feel that this will be the last time you see him for a while, so you squeeze back tight.
The two of you then walk over to stand to the side and Leia joins you two wrapping her arms around the two of you. You stare off and see your father and Master Yoda appear before you, you smile back sadly, missing your father. Then, another figure, what you assume to be a young Anakin Skywalker presents himself, a little shy, but delighted nonetheless. You look to Luke and Leia and see smiles on their faces.
That was six years ago and your quest to find the young child has not been going so smoothly. Moff Gideon was after the child and from what you heard he had been taken by a Bounty hunter to Tatooine to keep him from him. You landed in Tatooine finally and a curly haired woman comes out with a small creature wrapped in robes. “Name’s Peli, whatcha need fixing on pretty lady.”
You chuckle. “Probably just tuning and a change in the oil if you could.” She gets her droids to get to working on your ship and turns which brings you face to face with the child. Your eyes widen, recognizing his face. “Where did you get that child.”
She turns back around. “Who’s asking.” She slowly starts stepping away, her fear growing slowly. “I’m going to need you to back up.”
“I am a Jedi, I am here to find the child and rescue him.” You try to explain.
She looks around worriedly, and you don’t want to steal the child, but you have been searching for so long just to let him go.
“Step away from the kid, Jedi.”
You turn to the voice and see a man completely covered from head to toe in beskar armor. “A Mandalorian.” You whisper. He pulls out his rifle and points it at you. You immediately reach your arm out and throw the rifle to the side. “I do not want to fight you Mandalorian.”
“I’ve heard that before.” He charges towards you and you pull out your lightsaber and ignite it, just barely blocking his blow.
You maneuver around him to try to catch him off guard but he ends up pinning you down with a knife to your neck. You don’t panic, instead you speak to him. “Udesii, Utreekov.” Calm down, idiot. This causes him to step back abruptly and allows you stand back up.
“How do you-”
“I am a Jedi, but I am also a Mandalorian.” You explain wiping off the dust from your robes.
“Impossible.”
You shake your head. “You would think so, no? My father was a Jedi, and my mother Mandalorian.”
He still seems unconvinced. “You are not Mandalorian.” You roll your eyes at the man. “You do not cover your face.”
“That is not the only way to be Mandalorian. It is not only a race but a creed. I will take a wild guess and say you were not born on Mandalor nor were your parents Mandalorian.”  He remains silent which answers your question. “Yet you are still Mandalorian, and I still see you as a Mandalorian, you have earned it.” You smile. “The creeds have a very uptight way of seeing who is Mandalorian and who is not, anybody can be a Mandalorian the same way anyone can be a Jedi. For me, this is the way.”
The man is moved by your speech and nods back although a bit reluctant. “This is the way.” He replies. “What do you want with the kid.”
You look over to see him look at your curiously, cooing and reaching out. You reach your hand out and sense great fear and love in the child. “My father was a Jedi Master and a general in the clone wars, I was tasked with finding the lost child that they saved during Order 66 and I have finally found him. What are you doing with the child?”
“I am taking him back to his kind, the Jedi.” He states. “You are a Jedi, can you not train him?”
You hum taking a closer look at the child. “I am not a traditional Jedi, him training under me would not be the best idea, but I do know someone who can. His name is Luke Skywalker, and he is one of the very few Jedi left.”
“That’s great, where is he?”
“I am not sure, he doesn’t ever answer his comms, but I know a Mandalorian who could help. Her name is Bo’katan. I can come with you and the child till he safely arrives with Luke.”
He freezes a bit. “I can do it myself.”
“With all do respect Mandalorian, I wasn’t really asking for permission. The child is my last task, and I will follow it through, I took an oath.”
He doesn’t say much after that, he understands better than most.
The two of you fought various creatures and saved each other more than you can count. These experiences together have strengthened the small bond you two have created together.
“Do you remember your parents?” He asked you one day.
You nod eagerly. “My mother was a Duchess of Mandalor.” You explain.
Mando moves his head to the side in questioning. “Satine?”
“Yea, not a lot of people remember her well. My father was Obi wan Kenobi, he trained Anakin Skywalker, Luke’s father and also Darth Vader.” Mando freezes and turns to look at you, and although you can’t see his face, you can imagine what his expression might be. “Yea.” You sigh. “He eventually redeemed himself which also not a lot of people know. I think the only people who knew his real identity were my father, Master Yoda and Darth Siddious himself.”
He lets out a breath and goes back to steering the Crest. “How did your father break the code- isn’t it without attachments?”
You nod. “The fall of the Jedi kind of opened the doors for him and my mother. They were very much in love, and I think even before Order 66, my father would have abandoned the Jedi Order if she asked. But she knew how much it meant to him and never wanted to make that decision for him. It worked out for them though, so I’m glad they both were happy together.”
“So odd, the Jedi way. Family, our creed is everything.” He replies.
“I agree, I think the way of the Jedi is a bit flawed but it is hard for people to break tradition.” You move your seat forward to be more next to Mando. “Do you remember your parents Mando?”
He tilts his head to the side. “Not really, they were killed by droids when I was young. The Mandalorians took me in and I was a foundling, it has been my whole life since then.”
“And you haven’t taken off the helmet?”
He shakes his head. “It’s not the way.”
“Maybe it’s just not your way.” He remains silent. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, I just don’t want your view on Mandalorians to be so cutthroat. I feel like you don’t really see me as a Mandalorian.”
He turns his body to you. “Regardless of the fact that you’ve earned it with how you are in battle, it is your birthright. I would be the last person to say you are not Mandalorian.”
“Do you want a family Mando?” You ask curiously, growing fond of your new companion.
“I have a family.” He says referring to his creed.
You shake your head. “I mean like a wife and a kid, that kind of stuff. Or husband.”
He chuckles a little, staring out into the stars. “Maybe.” He says simply. “What about you y/n?”
He hardly ever says your name, so you’re caught off guard a little. “Um, yea. I think after seeing my parents and their love, I would like to find something like that. If the Force allows me.” You smile softly, and you think he was going to say something else but the Child begins to cry and you walk over to him and cradle him close. “It’s okay, cyar’ika. I’ve got you.” He grabs onto your head getting you to look at him and you focus on the concentration he has on the force.
Can you hear me?
You gasp never being able to read thoughts through the force before. Yes, I can- how- are you okay?
Yes, I’m so happy. I’m Grogu. I’m so happy. You and father make me happy.
Your eyes water with his confession and you kiss the top of his head. “Grogu.” He stares at you with wonder and adoration. You chuckle and run to the cockpit. “Mando! Mando!” He stands abruptly from his chair to see what was wrong and seeing you crying has him on edge and wanting to ease whatever was wrong. “I- the kid- I mean Grogu. His name is Grogu. He spoke to me.”
His eyes widen behind the helmet although you can’t see. “Really? How?”
“Through the force.” His shoulders slump a little, he was excited to hear the little kid talk.
“What did he say?”
You smile looking down at the green guy. “He said ‘I’m so happy. I’m Grogu. I’m so happy. You and father make me happy.’”
Mando grabs Grogu and holds him close. “You make me happy too Grogu.” You smile at the two of them, tears welling up again. “And you too, cyar’ika.” He extends his arm and you crash into them. You make no comment on him calling you darling, you just enjoy it and your heart swells for your little family.
That moment changed something between the two. Every time you interacted now the atmosphere was intense and there was a longing neither of you discussed. You found Bo’katan and in turn found Ahsoka Tano, an ex-Jedi trained by Anakin.
She speaks with Grogu through the force. “I cannot train him, and I doubt Luke will either.”
“Why not?” Mando grumbles.
“He has a strong attachment to the both of you, I’ve seen the best of us fall to those things.” She turns away.
“He deserves a chance to try.” You plead.
Mando steps up and covers your hand with his. “If we help you with the town will you make sure he has a chance.”
She stays quiet for a moment but agrees. And so the two of you do what you do best. Afterwards, she directs you to Tython where Grogu can pick for himself what he will do. “May the Force be with you.” You say to her.
“And with you.” She nods.
You turn back to Mando who was giving you a look you couldn’t see, but you could feel it. You laugh holding Grogu close. “This is the way.”
He nods back in approval. “This is the way.”
The two of you get on the ship and make your way to Tython, putting the Crest on auto pilot you should be there in a few days. The two of you were alone as Grogu slept in his compartment and you felt your chest tight from nerves. “Mando.” He hums to let you know he’s listening as he leans back on his chair. “What’s your name?” He doesn’t move, but his body is rigid and you can feel it. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be nosy, I just was curious- I guess I am nosy but-”
“Din.” He replies and you remain silent. “My name is Din Djarin.”
“Din.” You say. He turns to look at you, his gaze intense and almost intimidating, but he was in fact delighted to hear his name fall from your lips. “I like it.” And there it is, the intenseness of it all. You wanted to touch his hand, to hold him in anyway possible. Your feelings were growing everyday, and the fact that he loved the kid did not help in keeping them at bay. He felt the same, his hands twitching to touch yours so close he could do it if he really did want to, but you were much wittier. You placed your hand on top of his.
“Yooba solus mesh’la.” You are so beautiful. You take in a breath at his confession, unsure of what to do, even Din doesn’t know how he let that one slip. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to just blurt that out.”
You raise your eyebrows at him. “Did you not mean it then?”
He shakes his head making you worry. “I meant every single word.”
“I-” Your breath gets caught and you’re at a loss for words. “No one’s called me beautiful in a long time.”
“I’m sorry.” He says sincerely. “It’s true.” He pulls out something from his pocket. A little necklace with a mudhorn on it. “I had this made, Grogu and I defeated it together. It’s our signet.”
You turn around to have him put it on and once he does you’re in awe. “This is beautiful Din, I love it.” You lean over to encase him in a hug.
“Haar’chack, yooba solus mesh’la.” Damn it, you’re beautiful. He curses causing you to laugh. Eventually Din goes to sleep in his room while you stay in the cockpit to make sure everything was running smoothly. Your heart was racing and you had a huge smile on your face. Having only known Din for a few short months you were already so taken with him. You wondered if this is what love was like.
You reminisced when you had feelings for the young Jedi and inwardly cringed with how forward you were with him. This felt much different than that. A much stronger connection. Although you knew Luke wanted to give in, he never let himself, but Din let you have any piece of him you wanted. He would give his soul in a heartbeat if it made you happy. And that’s the difference you guess.
That was the kind of love you saw with your mother and father, and although more intense, a similar love you remember your father telling you Anakin had for Luke’s mother. You wonder why Luke would want to bring back the ways of the Jedi that ultimately ended up failing his father, he might face similar if not worse scenarios. You hope to the Maker it isn’t possible, but you are still skeptical.
You jolt in your seat when you hear crashing around in the back, and at first you think it’s Gorgu, but the sounds were too loud and too heavy. You walk over to Din’s room and see him thrashing in his sleep. “No...” He mumbled. You crawl into his bed and try to steady him, but he gets scared and grabs your wrists.
“It’s just me Din, you’re okay, you’re safe.” He immediately holds you to him like a child clinging to a teddy bear and you let him rubbing the back of his neck. You can feel the hair that sticks out meaning he doesn’t have his helmet set in place, but you don’t look and keep your eyes away from the curly hair you feel in your hands. It’s so soft. “Yooba solus cyare.” You are loved. You say to him and he relaxes in your hold.
There wasn’t anything specific Din could say he focused on. He loved all the things about you. Your honesty compelled him to be honest with you. Your openness and generosity caused him to try to do those things too. You made him a much better person and you added so much depth to his being. Whereas the Mandalorian struggled to know if he added anything to your life.
But he did.
He showed you loyalty and blind trust you had only ever experienced as a child. Before your father and mother passed, and before Luke had the weight of continuing the legacy of the Jedi on his shoulders. He gave you a home and people to love who loved you right back. You met someone who put you first and you them.
Though neither of you put a name to it yet. It was hard to disturb your relationship when it seemed to be progressing well on its own.
The two of you fell asleep holding one another, and eventually an alarm went off to signal that you were nearing Tython. Din hurries back to the cockpit securing his helmet, realizing it almost fell off, but you would never disrespect him as to look. You went to grab Grogu and bring him to the front with Din.
Grogu was trying to get your attention, so when you focused on him he spoke to you.
Are mother and father leaving me?
You shook your head holding his little hand. No Grogu, you will get to decide if you want to reach out to other Jedi.
His face scrunches up before turning back to you. Should I?
It is all your choice Gorgu. We will be here no matter what.
“What are you guys whispering about?” Din asks preparing to land.
“Grogu is just a little nervous.” You smile at your little green son. “But I told him everything will be alright. He has his Buirs.”
Din smiles under the helmet and lands the Razor Crest. The two of you walk silently up the hill and place Grogu on the top. “So what happens now?” He asks.
“Grogu decides if he wants to reach out .” The two of you let Grogu be and eventually he starts connecting with the Force. Meanwhile, a man at the bottom of the hill catches your attention and both of you go towards him.
“Hey sweetheart.” His voice makes your eyes widen. You felt like you were seeing things.
“Boba- you’re supposed to be dead.”
Din turns to look at you. “You know him?”
“I want the armor.” He states.
Your Mandalorian straightens up and stands closer to you. “If you want it you’re going to have to peel it off of my dead body.”
You shake your head. “No he means the armor you got from Vanth. It belonged to his father’s.”
“Are you in a creed?” Din asks.
“No.” He replies. “My father was sworn in and he passed it down to me.”
“And if I kill you where you stand?”
Boba laughs and looks behind Din. “There’s a sniper up there who shoots when my body hits the ground.” Din looks and sees Fennec, surprised but doesn’t dwell on it for very long. “If you give me the armor I can help you with getting the kid and the two of you wherever you need to go safely.”
Although Din wanted to retort, there wasn’t much time to when you spotted Gideon’s ship in the atmosphere and Grogu’s connection with the Force severed. “Grogu!” You yelled in a panic. You rushed up the hill and Force jumped up to protect your son while Boba went to grab his gear after Din let him in a panic.
He was beyond scared and he felt like a child watching you fend off the dark troopers. He couldn’t get to you in time. One of them grabbed Grogu causing you to divert your attention and it made you drop your lightsaber. They flew away taking the both of you and Gideon’s ship fired destroying the Crest right in front of you. Your heart broke at the scene, but it hurt more to hear Din yell your name in such anguish.
When you made it up you were met with Gideon who immediately sent Grogu away from you and smiled sadistically. “Kenobi’s daughter in the flesh.” You scowled and spit at him. “Welcome aboard my ship, keep her from the kid.”
The guards escorted to you to a holding cell and cuffed you to keep you from catching hands with them. You sat in the cell and tried to connect with Grogu, but he was too weak to reach back. He didn’t have the training to do so.
Meanwhile, Din was in despair. He held your lightsaber close and clipped it on his belt. He looked up at Boba and together with Fennec, they were going to find you.
Time passes very slowly for you and you didn’t know if days or hours had passed. Eventually, your sitting around is interrupted. “Now how did you manage to get caught like this.”
You look up and see your father’s ghost looming around. “Dad.” You whisper.
“I guess the child proves a much more difficult task than I had anticipated.” He says with a smile. “Hello my sweet girl.”
You smile solemnly and stand up. “How- how come you’ve never come to me before?”
“You’ve never needed me before.” He says.
“Luke proves to be much more needier than you, y/n.” You see another figure pop up next to your father, and it’s Anakin. You hadn’t seen him since the celebration on Endor with the Ewoks. “That might be my fault too, heh.” He says scratching the back of his neck. “Hi y/n.”
It’s a bit overwhelming to say the least. To have your father and Anakin appear to you at the same time. “Don’t you guys only appear when I need help.”
“Well yea, kinda.” Anakin stretches. “They know you’re Obi-wan’s kid. Which woah by the way. I never saw that coming.” Your father jabs his padawan on the side. “Right. They’re going to take samples of your blood for your midichlorians the same way they’re going to do to Grogu. Before you escape the ship you need to grab every last container they have of your blood. You’ll never be free of them otherwise.”
The doors open and the stormtroopers take you forcefully. You look to your father with scared eyes, but he soothes your fears. “The Force is with you.”
You get injected with something that makes you pass out and when you come to, you’re so unbelievably weak you can barely hold your head up. You hear a lot of commotion outside, but you’re not in the best shape to try to escape.
The doors open anyway and you see him. “Y/n.” He breathes out. He embraces you and you try your best to wrap your arms around him. “I thought I lost you cyar’ika.”
You chuckle slowly. “Never.” He hands you your lightsaber but you can’t even grab it.
“What’s wrong?” He asks.
“Injected with... I don’t even know. Can barely move.” Din nods and picks you up carrying you out. “Grogu is on other side... I need to grab blood from them.”
“I can’t understand very well y/n.” You slide your hand under his helmet and he flinches, you place your hand on his cheek. You’ve only done this with other Force users but you wonder if it’ll work on Din, if he’s even the slightest bit Force sensitive. “Okay, I’ll take care of it.” You thank the stars and you’re able to relax a bit in his hold.
Din hands you off to Cara so you would be safe. “Maker, what did they get you with?”
“Dunno.” You slumped. “Passed out, woke up, could barely move.”
She hums placing you on a chair of the control station they took over. Cara takes out a serum from her pack and injects it in your thigh. “If I’m correct they used a serum made specifically for the Jedi they captured, and normally it’s hard to wake up from. But you Miss Kenobi, are made of steal.” You chuckle at her statement slowly gaining much more feeling and movement in the tips of your fingers. “It works pretty slow, but you’ll be better soon.”
“Thank you.” You breathe out. Your Mandalorian and Grogu come back and meet you guys. He throws Gideon to the ground and holds the Dark Saber in his hand. “Oh no.” You whisper but he catches and looks confused.
Gideon smiles at Bo’katan who looks distraught. “What’s wrong?”
“Mando.” You call out. “You defeated him in... battle. You’re able to rule Mandalor.”
“I don’t want it.” He holds it out to Bo’katan. “Take it, I yield.”
Gideon laughs. “She can’t, the sword isn’t the power, it’s the story. She has to defeat you in battle.”
There isn’t much time to talk more about it when the dark troopers start making their way to you. “Oh Maker.” You groan. The doors shut and everyone is standing protectively. Gideon grabs a blaster and shoots, once he aims at Grogu, Din moves in front to act as a shield. Cara kicks the blaster away and kicks his body now standing near him.
You sit up, feeling better and see an X-wing arrive. “One X-wing?” Cara says. “Great, we’re saved.” But you knew that X-wing, and the hope you clung to increases. Gorgu senses it too, touching the screen and watching.
You then see the green lightsaber slice through the dark troopers. “Luke.” You breathed out. You had to help him. You get up slowly and grab your lightsaber from Din. “Open the doors.” Luke was on his way up through the elevator.
“Are you crazy?” Bo’katan exclaims.
“Y/n-”
“Do you trust me?” He nods. “Open them.”
You light up your blue saber and slice through the first dark trooper. You keep going until the last one in the middle grabs you. Luke holds his hand out and turns it into a fist, crushing the metal body. You fall and he wraps an arm around you holding you up.
“Luke,” you smile.
He smiles back. “Hello y/n.”
Happy beeps draw your attention away and you crouch down. “I missed you too Artoo.” Din rushes to you and puts an arm around your waist asking if you were alright. “Yea. This is Luke Skywalker.” Upset beeps meet you this time. “And R2-D2.” You chuckle. “Luke, this is Mando and Grogu.”
Luke nods and holds out his hand. “Come little one.” Straight to the point, as always. Gorgu hesitates and your heart breaks.
“He doesn’t want to go with you.” Din says.
Luke is understanding of his connection but nods. “He’s asking for your permission.”
You bite your tongue to prevent yourself from crying, but it proves to be impossible when Din begins to remove his helmet. You take in a breath as he looks sadly at Grogu who touches his face everywhere he can and Din sheds a tear. He sets the green child down and he walks over to Luke with wonder. Luke picks him up and nods.
“May the Force be with you.” And he turns around, but Grogu looks at the two of you for as long as he can. You cry silently next to Din who’s having trouble with letting him go.
Once they’re out of sight you look back at Din. “You- you have to put your helmet on, I didn’t see anything, none of us did.”
He slowly puts it back on and the rest of you shuffle quietly into Boba’s ship. The air was tense and while Boba Fett was confused, he didn’t ask. Fennec nudged you to go and talk to the gloomy Mandalorian who sat in his small space on the ship.
You knocked but didn’t get a reply so you came in and saw Din staring down at his hands sitting on the bed. “Oh, Din.” He looked towards you but doesn’t say anything. “I’m sorry you broke your creed, I know how much it means to you.” You sit next to him placing a hand on his.
“I just- I wanted you to see me differently.” He sighs.
Your face turns to confusion. “I’m lost.”
“I wanted you to see me when we got married, when you are my riduur.” You take in a breath, surprised by his bluntness when he’s always so shy. “I know we haven’t really been together or even known each other for too long, but I find myself longing for normalcy with you. Being able to do the most mundane things like brush our teeth together or sleep tightly in my cramped room, I would love to do those things with you. Because... well, because I love you.”
“Yooba solus ner aliit.” You are my family. You say putting a hand on his helmet where his cheek would be. “Ask me.” You say. “Ask me to marry you, Din.”
He holds both of your hands in his and looks at you. “Will you marry me, Y/n Kenobi. Whatever you want, it’s yours, I’ll give you the stars if that’s what you want.”
You giggle at his intensity. “Yes Din. But I want you, just you.” He pulls you close to him wrapping his arms tightly around you.
“I promise we won’t be living from place to place forever. I’ll build us a home, whatever kind you want.” He caresses your hair and you squeeze him tighter.
“Home is wherever you and I are together. I’m home right now.” It was a sweet moment between the two of you. You both found exactly what you were looking for and that was a family.
He handed you your blood samples and you squeezed him so hard he could barely breathe. You thought he wasn’t able to get them, but that would be the first time of many you would learn not to doubt the skilled Mandalorian.
You and Din got married on Tatooine with only a few friends present but you wouldn’t have minded even if it was just the two of you. When you got back to your room, your new husband sat you on the bed and took off his helmet placing it on the table beside the bed. “I wish you could’ve seen me for the first time this way.”
You run your hands all over, scratching the stubble along his face, tracing his lips, his nose, his eyes. “You’re so absolutely breathtaking Din.” He leans closer to you placing a hand on your cheek and kisses you. It’s his first kiss and he’s nervous he’s doing it all wrong, but it also feels spectacular. You’re so soft against him and sweet. You loved every moment of it, you loved him so immensely it hurt in the best possible way. You pull back and touch your forehead to his, both of you smiling ear to ear. “How did I get so lucky?”
“I think you’ve got it the other way around.” The two of you share a laugh. “Can I take you to bed riduur?”
“Only if you start calling me Mrs. Djarin.” You say leaning back.
“I think I can manage that.” And you were content throughout the night being loved by the one man you don’t think you could live without.
Although, your family wasn’t exactly complete. The two of you missed your green child horribly and you found yourselves looking for him only to remember he wasn’t with you. It was a difficult transition to say the least and one neither of you really wanted to admit that was the reality.
You and Din went back to make a little beskar armor for Grogu and give it to Luke. You got there in the new ship that Peli made for you two. It was small but you didn’t mind squeezing a little.
When you arrived at Ossus you were met by Artoo who was supposedly leading the way but brought you to Ahsoka. It was difficult to reason with her to see Grogu, but eventually, Luke came down to see the two of you.
“We came to see him.” You tell your long time friend twiddling with your fingers from nerves.
“It’s not good for him, he still has a strong attachment to the both of you.” You nod, understanding but still disappointed. Luke looks down and sees the shiny little beskar band around your ring finger. “You got married?” He didn’t really understand the pang in his chest that hit him when he saw the ring.
“Oh! Yes! I’m sorry, I couldn’t reach you, you never answer your comms.” You say with a stern voice. “I was going to tell you.”
Luke thought he got over the idea of the two of you a long time ago. This was the first time he’s ever felt so jealous of another being. To be allowed to have such connections with you. “That’s wonderful y/n. I’m happy you finally found a family like you wanted. Who’s the lucky man?” He’s lying, it’s not wonderful and he doesn’t know why.
You smile immediately, turning to your husband putting your arm through his. You communicated silently asking if it was okay to tell Luke his name and replies in a slight nod. “Luke, this is Din Djarin, my husband.”
The Jedi nods back to the Mandalorian. “Thank you for taking care of my friend.” This he means sincerley.
Din nods back at Luke. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to everyday.” And he smiles brightly under his helmet looking at you, both of you very unaware of the feelings of the Jedi in front of you. “Could you give him this at least,” Din holds out the beskar. “It’s his right as a foundling.”
Luke takes the beskar and holds it to him while he watches the two of you leave holding hands and Din helping you up to the ship. There’s a lump in his throat as the ship leaves and he’s unsure why he feels this way.
“Do you love that girl?” Ahsoka asks.
Luke shakes his head. “That’s silly.”
“Not really.” She says. “It’s kind of written all over your face.”
“Jedi are not to have attachments, and I will not.”
“So stubborn.” Ahsoka states. “So much like your father.” Luke stops and turns to look at her. “No one would be upset with you because you fell in love Luke. No one would blame you for wanting a family with someone.”
The young Jedi shakes his head. “No.” He says. “If it was going to be with anyone, it was going to be with her. It’s my fault. She deserves happiness, and I will be happy doing this.” He gestures to the soon to be temple.
He would not disturb your peace, even more so knowing that you loved the Mandalorian and he loved you right back. That much he could tell with ease, and that was enough for him.
Luke did present Grogu with a choice and the little green kid ended up reuniting with the two of you again on Tatooine. When all was over, you hugged as a family for the first time and had a tearful but happy reunion. Grogu sat in his compartment on the ship while you and Din sat in the cockpit talking.
“Do you want to have kids someday Din?”
“Only if its with you, Mrs. Djarin.” You smile silly, loving the way it sounds coming from him. You kiss his cheek as a thank you. He keeps his helmet off now around the two of you, but keeps it on for everyone else.
And that dream did become a reality a few years later after Din built the three of you a beautiful house on Endor with a big garden close to the lake. You were heavily pregnant walking outside with Grogu in your arms watching your husband tend to the crops.
“Looking good Mr. Djarin.” You call out and he smiles at you, his face free from his helmet.
“You’re much better to look at Mrs. Djarin.” He sends a wink your way and just like that, you’re flushed. “Did Luke answer your comms?”
You nod. “Yea, him and Leia are coming over a week before our baby is due. It’ll be fun to know if they’re Force sensitive like you and I are.”
Din puts down the weeds and walks over to place a kiss on your forehead. “I think the Jedi has a crush on you.” And while he’s trying not to act worried you see right through him.
You roll your eyes at your husband. “Din Djarin. We have been married for five years, I have this shiny beskar ring to prove it, I’m holding our adopted green child and about to pop out our first born. I don’t really care if Luke likes me or is even in love with me. I cannot love anyone the way I love you, the way I will always love you.”
He leans down to kiss you and he does. Every time is always a beautiful experience he’ll never get sick of. Unfortunately, he’s unable to savor it for so long as Grogu whines in your hold, feeling left out.
“I think he also wants a kiss.” You giggle. Din leans down more to place a small kiss on your son’s head.
“There, now please let me kiss your mother silly, thanks.” He says, quickly kissing you again as he promised.  He pulls back only to place one last kiss on your forehead and wraps an arm around you. “This is the way.” He says staring out at your home squeezing you to him.
You put your arm around him and squeeze back equally as strong. “This is the way.”

It was hard to tell when exactly night fell while traveling through space. The vast dark emptiness of it threw off one’s sense of time. Nevertheless, a mixture of the after effects of an adrenaline rush, genuine fatigue from running all over creation, and the leftover alcohol that was still in my system left me tired enough to catch a few hours of sleep. Once I awoke, still in the middle of space and far away from Maputo, I was unable to fall back asleep. No matter how hard I tried, the nightmares didn’t allow me to return to my slumber. I circled the ship, checking in on the sleeping Leia every few minutes to keep myself busy. “What’s the matter?” Obi-Wan asked, stopping me in my umteenth round. He gestured for me to sit across from him. “I’m worried about Lu-Lu,” I told him in a half-truth. “My loth-cat.” “While I’m sure you’re worried about your dear pet, y/n, there’s something else bothering you,” he said. He looked at me not with judgment but with compassion as he spoke. Aside from Nari, he was probably the only person I’d met who’d understand what I was going through. I shook my head. “There’s always something on my mind,” I told him. “And what is one your mine at the moment?” he pressed. “I can sense regret and anguish in you. You’ve never mastered the art of hiding your emotions.” A soft smile fell onto his lips. I took a deep breath before I confessed something I never had: “I saw my master’s death before it happened.” I told him as a tear began to fall down my cheek. “I couldn’t save him, and it plagues me.” “That’s...” he strayed for a moment, looking at me with sadness before he went on. “..not your fault. How old were you when this happened?” “15.” He took my hands into his, rubbing them softly with his thumbs. It instantly settled my nerves, though the pain of that incident would never leave me. “You were a padawan,” he went on. “And even if you were a Jedi night, it wouldn’t have been your fault.” “I tried to contact him, I did,” I went on. “But master Yoda returned with the news that Palpatine had killed him. I knew then I would have to leave the temple.” “Your master was Mace Windu?” the former Jedi asked. “I didn’t know he had a padawan.” I nodded. “I was meant to be kept a secret. Master Yoda thought my gift was too special to risk having me injured or killed. He believed if word got out, I’d be hunted for my abilities.” I explained. He nodded slowly. "What's on your mind?" I asked. My hands were still in his and I felt a warmth I hadn't in many years. It thawed my heart. "Much the same as you," he replied. "I couldn't save my former padawan from slipping into the Darkseid. I should've seen the sign, the possessiveness, the anger... I didn't." I squeezed his hands gently. "That isn't your fault either," I assured. "There's no way to keep anyone from slipping to the Darkside. Only the choice that individual makes can save them, no one else." He looked up at me again, and despite his years of training, years of stoicism, I could see the pain, in his face. It was clear to me that we both had many demons to face. ... “Go,” Leia insisted. Tala and I looked at each other. “I’m sure you’re a better shot than me,” I told her. “You watch Obi-Wan’s back, I’ll go with Leia.” The woman looked at me with hesitancy but nodded. Leia took my hand and the two of us continued down the seemingly endless tunnel. We neared the end of the underpass, a black hole with flickers of light promising the end. We came to the exit and my heart immediately dropped. "Are you going to help us?" Leia asked innocently. The inquisitor wore a menacing smile on her face once she saw us. The body of a pilot lay just feet away from her. "Stay back Leia," I warned, taking a step forward to bring distance between her and Reva. "And who are you?" The inquisitor asked me, almost amused. "I'm not important," I said, grasping for my blaster under my cloak. "Is that so?" She mused, taking yet another step toward me. Speaking to the woman was torture, but I had to distract her while I thought of a plan. "Yes, you might as well forget about me." "I have Intel of a Jedi traveling alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi. That wouldn't happen to be you, would it." I held the blaster tight, waiting for the right moment to use it. "I'm no Jedi." "Strange, because my sources also say that said individual was wielding a purple lightsaber. A purple one," she continued. "There are only two Jedi in the past century who had them." Her eyes looked at me harshly, almost as though she were looking through me. I clenched my teeth, knowing an emotional reaction would only worsen my situation. "Master Mace Windu... and his secret apprentice," she said in nearly a whisper. In a swift movement, I pulled out my blaster and shot one of the lights above us. Sparks flew about. "Run, Leia!" I called out amidst the chaos of the flickering light above us. Just as I was about to follow the girl, Reva took my wrist into a firm grip. I yanked my arm to no avail. She twisted my arm so that the blaster fell to the floor. Suddenly, I remembered something I learned on Daiyu years ago: with my weight on my non-dominant leg, I spun around and hit the inquisitor in the knee with the toe of my boot. It gave me just enough to get away from her and wield my Saber. Around a dozen stormtroopers, exited the ship behind her, all aiming their weapons at me. Reva stood up again. "Go get the princess," she yelled, pointing towards the entrance of the cave. "I'll deal with her." She too ignited her saber, a bright red light contrasting with the dead of night that surrounded us. With a sprint, she lunged at me. Our sabers crashed in a Collison the color of a sunset. She pushed me back with the force and went for another swing, but I managed to gain my balance in time. I deflected the swing above my head and jolted forward. I took the moment to run towards the small ship that was meant to bring us to safety. With a little help from the force, I managed to jump on one of the wings. It was well known that higher ground was always ideal. "So, you picked up a few tricks along the years," Reva noted as she charged toward me. She swung her blade towards my feet, which I avoided with a quick jump. Taking advantage of where I stood, I swung down, aiming for her head. It wasn't a conventional move, and certainly, not one that would have made Master Windu proud, but alas my opponent wasn't conventional either. She pushed up with just enough strength to cause me to tumble. I rolled off the wing of the ship and landed back on the ground. Just as I was about to take another swing, a dozen pairs of boots marched through the cave, Leia in front of them in handcuffs. With a small wave, Reva had six of them circle us. "This was quite fun," she said, putting her light saber back on her hip. She walked away with a smug look on her face. I was pulled by several pairs of arms, one pair holding me still, the other cuffing me, one pair taking my light saber, the last one patting me down. - The cell I was put in was bleak and dark, I couldn't see my own hands infront of me. My surroundings faded into a pitch black nothingness. I let myself lie down, trying to control my breathing. Closing my eyes, I tried hard to remember my master's teachings. I tried picturing his face, but all I saw was him, falling to his death. I opened my eyes, searching the dark room again. Nothing. I spread out on the ground, letting the cool floor distract me. I let my muscles ease up, forgetting all that had happened the previous days. In front of me, I pictured the temple I'd spent my youth in. I pictured the library, the halls, the chambers. Then, I saw my master, alive and well, in front of me. He sat cross-legged on the ground, I sat up and mimicked his posture. Though I hadn't meditated in years, it was still in me like muscle memory. "Let go, let everything go," he would say. So, I did. Everything around me slipped away at my fingertips tips. I again became one with the force. "Thank you, master," I whispered into the darkness.

Obi Wan Kenobi episode 6 (that I’m gonna ignore as the whole series LOL)
I'm truly grateful to Disney that Hayden and Ewan were brought back to Star Wars and I don't think anything will change this statement. But I'm also so SO GLAD the Obi Wan Kenobi show finally ended and hopefully ended for good. No sequel(s), please, I barely survived this six episodes’ lack of common sense, narrative wise and unnecessary drama that doesn’t add much to established Original Trilogy, including the two duels between Obi Wan and Vader, dragging 10 years old Leia into pretty traumatic mess and Bail having like zero understanding how secrecy works? Sorry, not what I need in my (star wars) life.
Seriously, though the Obi Wan Kenobi TV series has its good moments and elements (hello, Third Sister, to some degree), it is another reason why Disney!Star Wars doesn't work for me. And yes, I'm aware that some previous animations, movies and other media weren’t always the most coherent sources in regard to logic and world-building (I mean especially TCW / Sequels, bear with my bias), but the whole deal of Obi-Wan's need to sacrifice himself for the rest of group so their ship had time to run away is so SO STUPID. There is a reason why TIE fighters are stationed on big ships, ya know? Tie squadrons should be on the enemy ship's tail from the start (and before anyone will tell me that Vader may have wanted to get Obi-Wan alive then shooting from main turbolasers would not work either. TIEs actually could disarm/damage the ship so that it can be boarded to take people in custody). Even when Obi played the decoy, Vader didn’t need to choose between Jedi and the “rebels” (not mentioning him choosing to destroy a civilian ship would be actually a better choice to hurt Obi-Wan, if he was willing to massacre a village just to get him last time?). Vader could board his own TIE / Lamba class shuttle and simply go after Jedi while leaving rest to the navy. I’m pretty surprised he wasn’t in TIE personally shooting the enemy ship but I guess, that way Obi-Wan would not have a chance to survive LOL.
Anyway, the start of Obi and Vader duel was pretty nice but then the show of course needed to go with destroying Vader’s mask and armor and I guess this was supposed to be the oh so big emotional moment? But that shock value meant something to me after the first or second time I saw unmasked Vader (and the first time was Purge comics, I think?) but after years of Disney/Marvel maiming Vader on every fucking occassion, I feel only irritation, leaving bad taste in mouth. Ahsoka did so in Rebels. Obi did it here. Comics did damage to armor like, at least once per every Darth Vader run lately? It doesn’t feel special. It feels like just standard Wednesday for Vader at this point. And after this supposed emotional closure in which Vader… suddenly doesn't blame Obi-Wan for Anakin’s death/own suffering??? (“I am not your failure, Obi-Wan. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.) in contrast to the previous episode (I am what you made me?) but it doesn’t lead to anything really? I mean, yes, of course, they couldn’t make Obi Wan killing Vader in this scene but him walking away and leaving (again) dangerous Sith to terrorize galaxy for the next decade is so… I’m lacking a word for what it is. It only makes me feel definitely sure Obi Wan and Anakin should have never met between RotS and ANH and the last two duels were unnecessary and done only for drama. I understand why Kenobi didn’t (couldn’t) kill Anakin on Mustafar but here, him walking away and dooming galaxy is just so, dunno, selfish and fucked up?. But yeah, why not, the new hope (Luke) will be there to ask to finish the job LOL.
(Oh, and don’t let me start about how Disney/Marvel use Vader’s amputated, wounded body for shock value and the feeling of horror. I’m really, really tired of new canon maiming Anakin on screen and comics pages time after time.)
I also finally figured out why seeing Vader sitting on the throne bugged me so much. In previous episode(s?) it felt unusual (unnatural) for him to sit in anything beside his meditation chamber, or even to want to have a throne. But this time, when he is speaking to Darth Sidious, his Sith master? Vader sitting doesn’t make sense. Vader was usually kneeling or simply standing while talking to Palpatine. Here, him sitting set him as either equal or at a better position than Sidious and this doesn’t feel right at all.
Okay, I was ranting long enough to draw the picture that Disney!star wars doesn’t work for me, not in the context of established sources like the Original Trilogy. The Obi Wan Kenobi TV show demands of me too much mental gymnastics to believe in its narrative or logic, or even care emotionally for what is happening. I guess, if that was a stand-alone, not connected to anything else than RotS series, my feelings would be different but alas, it is as it is.
For those who enjoyed the show, I’m glad for you. Me myself is going to simply ignore it as much as possible, as I’m ignoring lately a lot other pars of new lore like chips in clone brain, domestic abuse in regard to Anakin and Padme, TCW’s portray of Anakin, Mandalorians with aristocracy and Darksaber as their main power symbol. Yeah, lately I’m pretty good at ignoring stuff.

Time for more 3 sentence ficlets
The 3 Sentence ficathon is still running strong; we went to a second post for prompts today!
Fandoms are The Expanse, Golden Girls, Star Wars, Elementary, and Ted Lasso!
The Expanse, Chrisjen Avasarala, quiet moment
Too many pieces of a puzzle with no border, no map, and too much open space -- this was her life now. She might never know another day of peace, she might well meet her death on her feet as she juggled the parts of her life that she had to keep in the air.
Right now, though, she swept it back from her mind, refused to contemplate the latest news, and just breathed for the sake of breathing.
++
The Golden Girls, Dorothy, Hold your tongue.
"I just think it's very admirable of him to put something into place, Dorothy," Blanche said with satisfaction, "as you told me I needed to be more supportive of gays in visible ways!"
"Just hold that thought for one long moment, Blanche, and let your mouth shut up," Dorothy snapped, "because if you honestly think your brother will be happy knowing these brave men and women have to hide who they are to do their duty, I am ashamed of you!
"This legislation is going to lead to more abuse and suicides among the gay people brave enough to serve than you obviously have any thought for!"
++
Star Wars, Captain Rex & Luke & Leia, too much like your parents
It wasn't that they weren't like their parents, Rex decided, after studying them on Endor for a while, waiting for a transport large enough to take them and their prisoners home.
It was that the two of them mixed up all the pieces of his General and the Senator, with the Princess quicker to temper and action like his General, and the Jedi like the Senator's hopes of finding the peaceful path backed by a willingness to do violence.
The flip of genders to the traits he saw made it amusing, and he kept filing the pieces away for whenever he saw … well, for the future.
++
Elementary, Sherlock/Joan, Wherever we're together, that's my home
Even with a son to occupy her, and writing, and promotion of her work, Joan was restless for the long absence of Sherlock. She could not settle to a task without a thought of him crossing her mind, wondering how he was, where he was.
It was not until he returned to her, and they fell back into the easy grace of life together, that she truly felt as if she were home.
++
Ted Lasso, Rebecca/Ted, "Unusual You" Lyrics
The epiphany didn't come all at once, Rebecca realized, even as she watched other relationships struggle, break, and find their stride. She wasn't looking for anything serious, didn't want it in her life, not after the lies of marriage and struggles with her family's idea of love.
And then it did come to her, that she loved him, that he loved her and had been giving her the time, the space, to let her find her stride, to just be, with the added halo of love tipping them to more than merely friends.
++
Star Wars, Luke Skywalker & Biggs Darklighter, reunion
When a Wookiee won the argument about going back sooner, a TIE fighter squadron had one less kill, leaving an astromech droid intact, and a pair of lifelong friends able to make good on the joy of reunion crushed by the need to scramble to fighters so quickly.
While a Princess and a General planned both the awards and the evacuation, two pilots from a mostly forgotten world found a private place, to catch up, letting Luke unburden the losses to someone who had actually known the Lars family. And Biggs, friend that he was, held back the tidal wave of the friends he'd lost in the battle, to let Luke have true grief that adrenaline had been holding back.

DAY 27 - Stumbling (SW: Darth Vader & Luke Skywalker)
Watching his son writhe in pain and screaming for help took him back to that day in Mustafar, to when he choked Padmė to the point she lost consciousness.
She had begged him to stop, and now her son was begging him for help to stop Sidious.
Vader hadn't killed Padmé, like Sidious had told him, like he had believed all these years. Vader hadn’t killed their child - or children, as he’s just learned.
But he would get Luke killed if he just stood by. And the Princ- and Leia, too.
He would not allow Sidious to destroy what little Vader had left. Unprecedented anger flowed through his veins and filled him with raw power and strength, allowing him to grab Sidious, unfeeling to the Force-lightning now coursing through this suit, through his flesh and mechanics, and throw him down the reactor shaft.
For a moment, Vader watched with wide eyes behind the mask as his former Master, as the liar, the traitor, disappeared into the bowels of his own monstrous creation. For a moment, Vader was overwhelmed by an almost unbearable sense of freedom, like the chains that had been holding him back had suddenly broken and he was stumbling forwards, like he had been locked somewhere breathing stale air and now a gush of wind had just hit him in the face.
For the first time, Vader did what he should’ve always done as a father: he protected his son.
The thought of his son made him turn his head to where Luke was still lying on the floor, panting and staring at Vader with wide, surprised eyes. Tendrils of smoke rose from his body slowly, forming a thin veil around him.
Vader had been hit with Force-lightning before, and he knew how crippling it was. The realisation that his son was injured again, because of him, put a massive weight on Vader’s shoulders that destroyed his newfound freedom, immediately chaining him once again, albeit this time to someone and something much more pleasant - his son, the duties of fatherhood.
Vader didn’t know how to be a father, but he immediately pushed himself away from the railing he had almost collapsed against and stumbled to where Luke was now trying to scramble to his feet. Vader’s suit was damaged and breathing was hard and painful, even though he had added proper insulation to the suit right after Sidious hit him with Force-lightning for the first time. But as he had done so many times before, he willed himself to push through, to live, to stumble gracelessly towards his son and help him up as fast as he could.
“Father…” Luke breathed, standing on shaky legs and leaning onto Vader, who willed himself to support his own weight plus Luke’s - he was still looking at Vader in shock, but it morphed into determination when an explosion rocked the Death Star. “Father, we need to go!”
Such a simple statement entailed many questions - the most pressing being what would happen to Vader if they did escape. But to answer all those questions, they really had to get out.
“Come, we must get to my shuttle,” Vader urged, his voice full of static from his broken vocoder. Luke nodded, working his jaw and clinging to Vader - who realised he was clinging to his son. They both were in pain, with no means of masking it and sharing it freely through their bond in the Force: Vader felt Luke’s pain as his own, felt the way his muscles were still reeling from having spasmed so hard they almost wrung themselves off the bones; Luke felt his father’s pain as his own, felt his lungs burn and the air barely filling them.
Together, they stumbled to the turbo-lift, moving as fast as they could under the circumstances, standing on unsteady legs for as long as they were in the lift, and then stumbling into the hangar where Vader had left his shuttle. It was a smaller, private hangar that had three different access codes, too laborious to override in an emergency situation such as the undergoing attack. There were no emergency sirens in this hangar, and as soon as the last blast door closed behind Vader and Luke, the hangar was eerily silent, giving them a false sense of peace. Everything could be fine, if not for the battle raging outside and all the panic and stress and despair clogging the Force.
They hurried across the hangar, stumbling together gracelessly, holding onto each other for support. Vader knew that it was just adrenaline that was keeping Luke running, and that the moment they reached the shuttle, Luke would properly feel the immediate consequences of Force-lightning. He would probably have to deal with long-term effects from it too, unless he accepted that Vader taught him how to use the Force to strengthen himself.
But that was for when they were safe, and even though they finally made it into the shuttle, Vader still had to fly them out of the Death Star and away from the battle.
Vader willed himself to do so, to take his son to safety.
