Punk Princess

And just like that, a tradition was born. Every Tuesday night, when Hopper was out working the late shift (because apparently Steve lived with him and El what? ) Eddie would come over to the Hopper-Harrington residence and host DnD nights.

This was quite literally killing Eddie.

“Gareth, dude you don’t understand, now that he’s more healed up than before he’s started walking around in like tank tops and he has a monster tattooed on his fucking arm. I didn’t think he could get any hotter. And, and he is so fucking soft with his sister El, it’s insane. Like a total mom about her and it’s killing me. Gareth I’m dying, I’m dead, I wanna suck his dick so bad” Jeff groans from somewhere in the back of the garage, setting up a few of the amps.

“Eddie I swear to god, I’m going to kill you if you don’t shut up.” Gareth grumbles, slamming a drum stick down on the symbol for emphasis.

“Yesterday he fucking, just sat in my lap on the throne they have for the game set up, because there wasn’t a chair and it took everything in me not to pop a woody right then and there. Have you seen his ass?” Eddie couldn’t contain the dreamy sigh he let out as Mack cursed him out from somewhere to the left.

“Wait, you said he had a tattoo?” Jeff perks up leaning his arms on the amp in front of him. Gareth groans.

“Jeff, don’t encourage his behavior.”

“Jeff my man, he has two tattoos, the one on his arm is this super sick art work of some creature whose mouth opens like a flower and it’s just covered in teeth. Will told me he drew it for him and they call it a Demogorgon even though it looks nothing like the actual one in DnD. And there's one on his hip, although I don’t know what it is cause I only saw a little bit of it peaking out once but it looked like flowers or something.”

“Wait Steve knows DnD?” Mack is the one to speak up this time, and Gareth just bangs his head on the drums in front of him.

“Yes!” Eddie shouts, hopping up off the couch he’s on to pace out some of the energy just thrumming under his skin. “Sometimes when we play, he’ll be with the girls like braiding Max’s hair while El braids Robins and he will just, fucking chime in with his knowledge of something or other that’s happening in the campaign. Dustin gets unreasonably attached to whatever Steve recommends too, even if it might be a poor play.”

“Huh, maybe you should invite him to Hellfire.” It’s Gareth that speaks up this time, a mischievous glint in his eyes that makes Eddie feel a little nauseous.

“No, absolutely not.”

“Eddie come on, you never shut up about the guy, and this way it’d give you another reason to spend time with him. And we wouldn't have to hear you wax poetic about his ass during a campaign.” Jeff offers out, and actually that’s not a bad idea, even though he can see Gareth and Jeff and Mack exchanging sneaky looks out of the corner of his eyes, he thinks they might actually be on to something, Because if Steve comes to Hellfire, he’ll be on Eddies turf, and maybe for once he’ll have the upper hand and get Steve flustered.

“Alright, yea I’ll do it. I’m gonna ask Steve to join Hellfire.” He nods his head spinning on his heels and scooping up his guitar. “Are we gonna practice or what?”

He just barely misses getting hit in the face by the drum stick Gareth sends flying at him.

Eddie’s absolutely terrified walking into school Thursday morning. He’s got a whole speech planned out to convince Steve to join Hellfire staying up late to prepare and practice it, but he just knows in his gut he’s gonna fumble the execution.

Gareth comes saddling up next to him as he makes his way down the hall towards the outside bleachers where they usually spend Hellfire’s free period. He knows Robin and Steve are usually out there as well so the conversation is sneaking up on him fast.

“You gonna ask him?” Gareth whispers in his ear, a shit eating grin spreading across his face.

“Obviously.” He knows you can hear the nerves in his voice and Gareth just throws his head back and laughs.

“Alright, good luck.” He offers before skip stepping over to where the rest of Hellfire is sat, and Eddie takes a deep breath, squaring his shoulders as he turns towards where Steve and Robin are.

He fucking flat lines.

Steve's standing on top of the highest part of the bleachers, his battle vest sitting over his black denim jacket open to reveal the soft pastel blue sweater he has underneath, and his arm is outstretched with a long roll of paper, pretending like its a sword or something as he marches back and forth. His hair is spiked slightly today to make it a cross between a traditional mohawk and the fluffy hawk he usually wears it as, and his eyes are lined in a bright blue liner with gray smoke around them. He notices idly that Steve had pierced his other eyebrow to make up for the one Billy had ripped out, and he’d shaved a little extra in the scar where the old one was so he has a slit in his eyebrow now.

Fuck he can’t do this.

Shit why is Steve so fucking hot.

He can hear Gareth and Jeff cackling off to the right as he just stands there, hands in his pockets open mouth gaping at Steve, but he can’t get his feet to move.

“Oi, Munson.” It’s Robin's voice that brings his brain back online, Her hands waving back and forth over her head. “Come here, I need your opinion on something.” And who is Eddie if not too oblige to that demand. So he takes a deep breath and squares his shoulders and saunters his way over to them.

“Okay so Steve thinks he’d be a barbarian in DnD right? But I’m convinced he’s more of a Cleric. What do you think?”

And isn’t this the perfect opening. The universe shinning down on him for the first time in his life, and he’d be stupid if he didn’t grab this opportunity by the balls and run with it.

“Actually, Stevie, I think you’re more of a Paladin.” Steve stumbles slightly on the bench he’s still marching on, hands shoved deep in his jacket pockets now, Eddie can see a soft blush rising to his cheeks. “Like okay, you know how Paladins have their belief and their oath right? Well your oath is totally the kids, or in this case The Party you’d play with. And you’re damn loyal too so you’d bend over backwards to make sure your party stays as safe as they possibly can no matter the quest.” As he talks he sees Steve's cheeks steadily grow redder and redder, scratching the back of his neck and turning his face bashfully. Hook, line.

Eddie’s on his own turf now, he’s just gotta see if he can drive it home.

“If you wanna try your hand at it, we are starting a new campaign in Hellfire tonight, and you can join. Robin too.” Robin's face lights up, joy mixed with mischief and he wonders if it’s a good idea to actually have her in the same room as Gareth and Jeff. But Steve's eyes are shining a bit as he ambles down the bleacher bench till he's standing almost nose to nose with Eddie.

“You asking me on a date, Munson?” God fucking damn it, this fuckers smooth . Eddie groans internally, because apparently Steve seems to always have the upper hand, and Eddie can't catch a break. Taking a deep breath, Eddie rolls for charisma and leans a little bit closer to Steve, the tips of their noses brushing.

“See if you can even survive the campaign and maybe I’ll think about taking you to dinner, Princess.” Steve’s eyes grow big and he sucks in a sharp breath through his teeth, nodding his head slightly.

And sinker . Eddie’s got him right where he wants him.

ok I usually don't share my art here and I ESPECIALLY usually don't share art I've shared with people I know irl (staying anonymous and all that) BUT I have GOT to share this little halfling barbarian I drew for a (dnd) one shot I'm writing

terrible I know. very much a quick sketch but I just had to get her out of my mind and onto paper. not that she could leave my mind as i am obsessed. some details under the cut :)

Jordan (she/him) is a halfling barbarian who I came up with yesterday when I was doodling during a lecture (that I was supposed to be taking notes during haha it's fineeee) and I'm obsessed.

He is a cute little guy who wields a hammer comically too large for her, but he's getting used to it. as of right now he's going to be a level one barbarian when I make his character sheet, so he has time to grow into her awesome weapon of choice.

the reason im using she/her is actually because I originally drew her as a boy:

(warning very much a sketch, drawn on old work)

but then later when I was still thinking about him I remembered that he'd most likely be played by a female member of my group (his character would fit best imo) so I redraw her BUT I love how both the designs turned out (despite their roughness lol) so much that now i just fully hc her as genderfluid

the stringed beads hanging off of the bottom of the handle on her design is an addition from her niece, actually part of a bracelet that broke, but the beads stayed on because of pearl necklace-style knots. the triangular patterns on the hammer in his design are just a cool pattern a traditional family pattern with familial meaning idk what though

yes there are inconsistencies in the designs, so some clarification: I like his hammer better, but I like her shirt better, so for the "official" design those would be what they look like.

also I am fully aware that I am rambling and probably no one is interested enough to be reading this far, but I'm so obsessed with Jordan that I had to make a post.

Weekly Update October 13, 2023

This week had a bunch of ups and downs. It’s been busy but I’ve been trying to do what I can on the side.

I’m definitely falling behind on my inktober prompt sets, partially because of exhaustion but also partially because of time and social obligations. I was able to bring my sketchbook to dnd tonight and start inking everything up to yesterday’s prompt, although I need to go over it all with the bottle and brush before they’re finished. I do unfortunately need to sleep early tonight so I don’t think I’ll be able to do any more digital art tonight but I do have a sketch done for the next goretober prompt. I am very limited on time tomorrow (and this weekend in general) but once I get my comms done I can get to that and start sketching some more.

Animation hasn’t been too slowed by my busy schedule since I can work on it during lecture, but I am unfortunately still exhausted, so it is much slower than it was in early September. I’m almost back on pace, though. Jon’s animation for shot 1-4 is done except for his face and some cleanup work (Jon in particular has shoulders that like to fall apart). The sketchy assets for Emile are almost all exported, and reimporting them can also be done during lecture to save time. I’m not sure if I’ll begin animation on 1-4 for Emile or Tim once Jon is done, because Emile looks like more fun but Tim would give me an excuse to get some prop assets done that I’ve been meaning to. Prop assets take time from other drawings since k need my tablet for them so actually now that I think about it I’ll do Emile next to buy myself time to catch up on prompts.

I’m in a weird spot with music stuff, I’m finally getting an idea of what I want to do and how to do it, but then komplete kontrol decided to have a big ugly update that deleted a bunch of samples I was going to look at. If anyone knows how to relocate/reinstall/return the samples under the ‘loops’ tab of komplete kontrol (that is, the tab labeled loops, not any loops saved to the controller. My controller is not affiliated with Native Instruments and is not affected by the update), please please please let me know. I can try workarounds or other plugins, but my computer is a bit tight on storage space and I don’t know if I’d have room for another plugin. Looking into getting a new computer since I’m about at that point anyway but it wouldn’t be for a while yet. Idk I might try to work around it if I find time but that seems unlikely to happen until probably next Thursday.

I’ve been on and off thinking about OC story planning as well. I drew Vaughn the other day and people really seem to like him, plus I realized he could fit in pretty nicely into another underdeveloped story (the one with Parsley and Julie), but I’d need a basic structure for that before I can really do anything with it. I have a plasma appointment tomorrow morning so I’ll have time to think on it, although I’ll probably dedicate the time instead to music planning and shenanigans.

Lot going on, also a fair amount of homework stuff for uni as well, but I’m managing. Worst of this week is a lab report I’m not sure I’ll have time for but in the absolute worst case I can sacrifice my sleep on Monday or Wednesday night. I’d rather not but you gotta do what you gotta do. I’ll try to get going on the rest of the prompt set drawings but sometimes other things take priority.

Gross, I’m sorry to hear that the fire season is already bad there. It’s predicted to be a bad one in my home state too, but it usually doesn’t come in full force until august. I do not miss the smokiness at all. It hasn’t quite hit triple digits here yet, but close, and it’s so humid, I feel like the air is sticking to me. Hopefully it cools off just a bit soon for both our sakes!!

Okay but like it’s a fun poem. And that last stanza is really touching! Honestly if it speaks to you, why not want to have it read? Ahh sonnet 130. We spent probably too much time analyzing it in my Shakespeare class but I still can’t hate it because it’s so beautiful. I just finished “The Carrying” a collection by Ada Limón that was pretty good! Quotes from her work sometimes float around on here.

Satire is good when I like it and bad when I don’t, hope that helps 😌 A Modest Proposal is always a fun one to read, and as far as contemporary stuff goes, every once in awhile reductress has something good. That’s so funny about your husbands reaction tho hahahaha would’ve loved to have seen his face.

Ohhh that ones had been on my TBR for awhile, I read Daisy Jones & the Six by that same author and loved it, so your recommendation may have just bumped Seven Husbands up on the list!

During the actual school year, I work part time as an assistant English teacher at a high school/English lecturer at a college, right now I’m doing online tutoring! I definitely want to stay in education long term.

Hey Drew my dear! I’ve had time to process red being announced. I’m a little bummed because we have such a long wait. I fully anticipate being a complete wreck when it drops. I love almost all of red. I’m looking forward most to the unreleased tracks and that ten minute song we all know is all too well.

It was funny in ironic way that she described red as a heartbroken person. I was baffled when the academy told her it wasn’t cohesive enough to win Album of the Year. I’ve always argued that they missed the point. That grief isn’t traditionally sonically cohesive and that’s why it actually is sonically cohesive. Just not in the way they expect. She said it way better than I ever could though.

Ryan Reynolds is top tier amazing. Any movie he’s a part of I instantly like. I’m pretty sure Chase and I would both leave each other for him if he asked. No questions. And we’d both understand entirely. 😂

I need to get my hands on a copy of Daisy Jones and the Six. I want to read that one. But unfortunately, the public library and I aren’t on speaking terms and going and buying a book recently hasn’t been exactly easy. I can’t wait to go into a half price books again. I’m just waiting to do all the non necessary shopping. My daughter obviously isn’t Vaxxed yet. I’m hoping they approve the vaccine for her age group soon. 🤞🏻. I’m nervous to send her back to school in August. But it’s important. She’s on an IEP. So this last year has been rough on all of us. Now the district won’t offer online again so it’s in person or not at all.

We spent the weekend doing errands and swimming. I have a job interview this week. I haven’t worked in years but I feel like I need to again. There’s just multiple complicated facets to my life that I’m not sure how to juggle. Hopefully I will figure it out. Or it’ll be all for naught.

So I have a few favorites. Like coffee, orange sherbert, and chocolate. But I can’t eat any of them anymore. I have to avoid dairy. I can have a little dairy here and there but milk and ice cream irritate my digestive system too much anymore.

I love food. Love it. Salsa is amazing. Pizza. Wonderful. Spaghetti and marinara dishes are my entire world. Do you know what all that has in common? 🍅 in the last couple of years I’ve not only developed a slight dairy intolerance, but a tomato allergy and a gluten intolerance! I’m sad 😞 Tomato is in everything though. It’s like I can’t get away from it. It really sucks.

I 100 percent don’t recommend chronic illness. If I was leaving an Amazon review it would be one of those “have to give it one stars but it’s really zero” reviews.

Bless you, Drew. I admire anyone who educates. It’s a skill set that I have very little patience for. So anyone who can is like a god to me.

So my little ADD brain almost forgot to talk about the resin! It’s a cute little idea we have for Dungeons and Dragons. But I’d also like just to create all kinds of different things. Plus it’s an excellent reason to acquire a 3D printer.

Chase and I are trying to learn how to play DnD. He’s always been interested and I’ll follow him anywhere 🤷‍♀️ plus character creating is fun! When it comes down to the actual playing, I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it or not. But I’ll try almost anything once.

ok this one might seem a little weird, but during our first dnd campaign we drew each others characters (except me i can't draw) and gave them to each other, so i have all these crappy middle school drawings of my elf wizard character, and i was putting stuff away yesterday but for some reason my cat likes to sleep on these drawings, so they're just out on my desk now covered in dirt and cat hair, but i like looking at them sometimes
