Some very goth Balls battle it out in this match!

The Luxury Ball very tidily beat the Heal Ball in Round 1, now it faces an opponent with even more popular backing- can it stand up to the task?

On the other hand, the Dusk Ball did defeat another black Ball in Round 1, and had plenty of support in doing so! But it also had plenty of shade thrown at it (ignoring that that's where it thrives) so it clearly isn't the all popular Ball its fans wishes it was!

In the Pokemon games, from Generation IV onward, the Dusk Ball is a unique style of Poke Ball that usually has a 1x rate of capture, but if used at night or in a cave, this ball gets a boost to 3.5x the normal capture rate. This doesn’t work in a few indoor areas of the Generation V games, but in Generation VIII, it keeps the higher boost even during the day if it is during the Darkest Day in Sword or Shield, or on Newmoon Island in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.

If we’re talking about aesthetics, I gotta go baseball. They’re just very cool looking now. If you’re talking practicality, gotta go with the dust bowl. Those things are pretty dang useful along with your average ultra ball for daytime use

Round 1: Match 4

Rounding off the first quarter of Round 1 are some very useful Balls indeed!

The Ultra Ball is of course a classic. Being one of the first 4 Balls introduced back in Generation 1, it has been a reliable choice for trainers for decades! It boasts a respectable 2x catch multiplier no matter the situation, and it's cool black and yellow look has a hidden meaning! When viewed from above, it becomes clear that the yellow is in the shape of an 'H', a reference to the Ultra Ball's Japanese name- the Hyper Ball! Can you deny it's a classic?

The Dusk Ball is a favourite of many players as well, however. For those night owls out there, this is the Ball for you- when used at night or in a cave, the Ultra Ball has a 3x catch multiplier! A very simple condition to fulfill and a better catch multiplier than the Ultra Ball makes it very popular indeed. This is also even after being nerfed too- in Generations 4-6, the Ball had a multiplier of 3.5x! Undoubtedly one of the most consistently useful Balls- but only if you're a nighttime player! Is that enough to get it into Round 2?
