Today in 'Phonecalls with my bestie where I disclose something which makes him double blink and reminds him I have all the fucked up trauma':
I was explaining to him all the different attractions/wants of people that I misinterpreted as crushes during high school on a spiele about my Aromanticism, and one of the examples I gave was "I just wanted to be closer friends with him and have a friendship outside of school, and when in school hold his hand as we'd walk around"
To which his response was "Possesive much" and I was initially confused but then realised what he meant and explained. "Oh no it wasn't a possession thing. It wasn't to go 'back off everybody he's mine'. It was because I wanted to prove to my peers that I could still get a boyfriend despite the dwarfism..."
And it's now dawned on me that my Dwarfism has impacted/affected the development of my Aromanticism. The biggest thing which haunts and hurts me regarding my last relationship - his harmful bias against my dwarfism.
My biggest reason against not having a life long partner? 'People will think it's because you're small' - Me.
That's going to be fun to unpack

Celebrating International Dwarfism Awareness Day: 7 Major Movies Starring Little People
Celebrating International Dwarfism Awareness Day: 7 Major Movies Starring Little People
It’s surely no coincidence that International Dwarfism Awareness Day takes place on the birthday of Billy Barty, screen star and co-founder of the Little People of America. Barty did a lot for folks born like him, not the least of which was helping to demystify their public image, to communicate to the public that they are by no means “strange”, and, to cite Shakespeare, if you cut them, they…

Sweetypie🍓🥧.... If You don't mind...
may i make a request again about Baki characters with prehistoric reader who's have a normal size body, she's so innocent in the modern world... And that's remind you with a Lil kids...I think it will be cute when the prehistoric girl looks around with those big doll-like eyes, she's like a porcelain doll with long hair .... thanks again sweet heart 🍓❤️....
You so lovely 💋🧁🍭🎂🎉
I can’t help but think that someone of normal size but in Pickle’s times would be the result of some form of dwarfism. Like, reader was probably bullied relentlessly for their restricted growth and lack of hunting efficiency and next time they wake up everyone is a “little person”. The shock!
Baki Characters x Prehistoric! Small Reader Headcanons
[Baki Masterlist] [Part II]
Unless someone had invented a Time Machine and ended up stuck in late Jurassic, the researchers just assumed you must’ve had your growth impeded in some way. Funny to imagine that someone sharing their features and size was an exception to the rule. Your presence frozen next to Pickle was a comical sight.
On the other hand, you’re absolutely overjoyed to see you’re no longer an outsider. While you don’t fully understand what happened, you can very easily deduce that these new humans are not only surviving, but leading self sufficient and comfortable lives without large bodies. It offers you a sense of belonging.
Pickle has always been aware of your disadvantage in battle, so his protectiveness towards you is almost instinctual. Even when fighting his challengers he has one eye turned to you, making sure you’re safe and secure. And you can’t blame him, really. If only you noticed the greedy stares you receive from the men. Being surrounded by dinosaurs might’ve been safer.
Yuujirou is rather unimpressed and somewhat disappointed when he considers the idea of potential offspring. There’s no advantage you’d bring with your incomplete genes and he doesn’t care about having pretty children. Pickle would be absolutely mortified if he knew the blasphemous, insulting thoughts this man dares to think about his partner.
The rest of the fighters thankfully don’t share the same utilitarian perspective. Baki finds your innocence adorable and is almost envious to witness your glistening, worried eyes that follow Pickle during his matches, with your small hands tightly pressed together in anticipation. He wouldn’t say no to having the same kind of support coming from the audience.
Katsumi and Retsu can’t even muster up a properly maintained eye contact with you. They’re not used to a feminine presence closely observing their fights from just a few meters away, especially if it’s someone like you. They’re also ashamed to admit they’ve wondered about your relationship with Pickle back in the day and how plausible that’d be given the…difference.
Jack can relate to Pickle more than he’d like to confess. You often approach him - since he’s closest to what you find familiar - in order to gesticulate questions about the unknown surroundings. He was initially frustrated with your apparent neediness, but your helpless stare now startles him into assistance without much complaint. He’s uncovering a growing need for shielding you and he doesn’t like the distraction one bit.
Pickle is heavily considering sending you back to the lab enclosure. He’d rather have the men in white coats scribbling from a distance than these sly vultures. He wishes you wouldn’t be so nice and naïve, but then again none of it is your fault. He’ll just have to keep the persistent suitors away himself. It’s his duty.

*whispers* I love Tyrion, but instead of Tyrion, Shen Yuan (no dwarfism because Cultivation Heals Everything) was born as the youngest Lannister child of Tywin Lannister...
(Tywin Lannister doting on his youngest child the most because he falls in love with Shen Yuan at first sight (parent beam?) and now is trying to be double the parent. Cersei hates the baby for stealing not only her mom (childbirth) but now all her dad's free time.
When Jaime gets taken into the Kingsguard, Tywin is naturally angry and offended, but after some thinking... maybe this is indeed for the best. His youngest is indeed far more suited to being heir, more well read, more politically aware, more cunning... )
[AU idea inspired by #Shen Yuan is born as Tywin Lannister's eldest son AU; More in #Shen Yuan replaces Tyrion Lannister AU]

hey, i know you've said previously that in order to write a Little character, you have to know the stereotypes of Little people. however, my internet delves have been so far fruitless. would you be able to tell me what some Little stereotypes are?
i ask because i'm writing a novel, and one of my main characters is a Little person with achondroplasia. I know the medical part of it just fine, but I am having less success for the other aspects.
His name's Mordechai Fernandez-Chavez, he plays soccer, is good at arguing, loves archaeology/anthropology, and he's learned to be loud and take up space because one thing I (think) I know is that Little people tend to be ignored (please tell me if that's wrong!), he's a Sephardi Orthodox Jew, he's Mexican-Argentinian-American, he collects rocks, and overall I've tried to put a lot of work into making him a person, not just a Little person. But I'm still afraid I haven't done enough.
help? :O
Hello! Some common stereotypes for little people to avoid are;
that we're overly angry or grumpy - which accumulates in the real world by dismissing the emotions of real LP
LPs are often used for physical comedy, particualrly in scenarios where our short stature is seen as cute or the butt of the joke
hypersexualization is a big one, that we're inherently promiscuous or kinky. On the other end of the coin, sex with little people is often seen as taboo.
that we're all miners, black smiths, etc. as seen in fantasy
that we have good luck or are somehow lucky - this one is less common, but some cultures still believe that touching little people will bring you good luck, which is something I've encountered

breeds like munchkins and scottish folds are unethical and cause cats severe pain but we as a fandom need to start getting better about the ableist language used in arguments against them. "eugh munchkin OCs are disgusting!! kill them with fire!!" you do realize achondroplasia, the condition causing munchkin legs to be so short, is dwarfism in humans, right? you do realize that saying that about a sapeint creature is no different from calling human OCs with dwarfism disgusting, right? are you aware of how giving someone shit for making a character disabled in this particular way makes fandom spaces unsafe for real disabled people?

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of talks about the sandrock builder customization and how people been wanting more body types, although I’ve seen people being rude about it tbh, just the way talk about the female builder’s body is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. how do you feel about this?
Hi anon, thank you for asking me my opinion on this 💜💜
While it’s been more than a year of people vocalizing their desire in having sliders/ options/ different presets- only recently has the female builder’s body been complained about to the extent where I think a larger issue needs to be addressed.
Body shaming is still body shaming.
To pull some quotes I’ve seen:
“…small and childlike”
“…body types are definitely something that looks like an adult.” (In ref to Grace and Heidi bodies)
“…give us more mature body types too”
“I’m a baby.”
“…really awkward”
“Downright comical”
“…would love my builder to look more adult.”
“my builder looks like a toddler being walked to school by her husband haha.”
“I’m not a fan of looking like a child.”
“general proportions” (in ref to what the “issue” is)
“currently is kinda twigy”
And in discussion for future installments or advancements within the game:
“it’d be great if they got rid of that look.”
“I do hope they move away from it in the future.”
*this is about the female player body- I cannot speak on behalf of the male player body completely*
As someone who is personally significantly shorter than the builder myself and has a petite or smaller frame- this was very degrading to read comments of.
While I’m a huge advocate for any sort of character customization implements that can be involved such as height sliders/presets/ weight sliders/ whatever else, and I believe that you should have the right to vocalize your wants-
What I don’t believe is that it should come with mocking and criticizing the current female body of the player.
And I truly hope that this look isn’t just scrapped and gotten rid of.
Those under 5’2” are already misrepresented or just not represented enough as adults in games a large majority of the time. We often get stuck with characters that have larger or more curves than we do. Characters of average or taller height. Modelesque to curvaceous characters.
I’m not saying these physical wants for characters shouldn’t be implemented or that they should be ignored. I’m saying you can ask or wish for them without putting down those who do have smaller builds. Those without an hourglass figure or who legitimately are a foot or two shorter than the person they choose to become romantically involved with.
While this is something that me, family, friends, etc have dealt with our whole lives- those of us who have fallen on the very shorter side of the scale, I’m not going to standby and watch it be incorporated into a game that has quickly become one of my top two favorites in the past year of playing it.
Criticizing- not critiquing, there is a huge difference- the female player body as it stands right now and making harsh jokes about it is seen by those who happen upon these posts or threads and can identify with the body themselves. I know a number of short and petite people who are playing My Time at Sandrock, and if I’m being completely honest, this may be the first time we had a more comfortable experience with a character that can be customized for ourselves.
The builder is in their early 20s and also created by a small Chinese indie game company called Pathea. Think of how many of those who are more prone to those heights or body frames have been criticized alone. This game is possibly more prominent in China right now given that they have an online website we ourselves can’t translate. They’re aware of new merch and such we’ve yet to receive official news on.
Also for reference:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, average height.
It may be fun to joke about how it looks to you, but for some people… this is our reality.
No, not all short people have dwarfism. No, not all petite people are just not eating enough. And yes, some of us may not have the ample assets that most women do have. And it’s something we’ve had to deal with our whole lives.
Implying that a taller height and a curvy figure or an incredible bust size is what makes a “mature” and “more adult” look is beyond insensitive. To imply that it is “what makes a girl a woman” is horrifically humbling to read.
And I do mostly see this body shaming of short or petite stature and height coming from mostly women. One cannot preach for body positivity if they continuously exclude and demoralize a body type. It’s hypocritical, it’s demeaning.
Comparing the female player body to the likes of Grace or Heidi or Jane- beyond saying it’s just the type of build one may want, as in, using them as a comparison to further degrade the current body, is yes, still body shaming and something a lot of us have worked hard to try and not compare ourselves to.
Does this have to do with me writing short female characters? Beyond the fact that I am short myself? Yes. Because it’s gotten to the point where if it’s not body shaming, it is fetishizing or glorifying the idea of being smaller than the average short height. And I want some readers to be able to read of a short character that isn’t “gremlin” or “closer to hell evil” or “feral” sometimes. Because that’s stereotyping. And we’ve been stereotyped our whole lives.
The female builder is in her early to mid 20s, around 5’2”, taller than some characters (that aren’t children), has a notable ass and chest- and yet while that’s how some of us look or it’s a bit more, “she’s not a woman”?
I have dated and befriended men from 5’ to 6’5”- and shockingly, men have been less prone to making me feel as less of a woman than the comments from my own gender have. I have shown and read these comments to my father, male friends, brothers and such only to see them become irritated that women are body shaming this body type. Pointing out the hypocrisy and some of the shallow remarks.
This is akin to a post I saw:
Tumblr media
Unrealistic and far fetched right? How do you think we felt- those of us who were 5’2” or below.
Someone who is quite literally the same exact height as Andy irl and in my twenties.
I could go into the whole aspect of having to reanimate or rig the characters and players for cutscenes and interactions. I can dive into the whole deal with the “baby face” expressions (and yes, some people just do have a “baby face”). I can stand on Pathea’s side who has worked tirelessly and with several issues they had to work past. The deadlines and due dates they’ve had to push back while early access fans still cheered them on for support. Or I can point out that this game is rated with an E10+ rating.
But this post isn’t about that.
Preach for what you want or options you’d like to see. But no, let’s not make callous remarks and harsh jokes on the player’s body. Let’s not just suggest they get rid of it entirely.
Women are supposed to support women. How about we stop deciding bust size and height is what makes you a “real woman”?

Mundane AU!Laios thoughts
Note:
Probably contains spoilers
Mundane au= no magic and no fantasy 'races' (like... little people are a thing, they exist in reality, some people just have dwarfism. The elves are just skinny racist and xenophobic Europeans like? And there's already parralells made with the demi humans so if I do anything the orcs are Afro Native and Kobolds are somewhere African or Arab. And for the ogres... gigantism is a thing that exists in real like and totally a teen girl would just wear some horns.)
Thoughts:
The Toudens are European-born. From somewhere cold as hell, really isolated and conservative, that's close to some mountains, that's racist towards the local indigenous people.
(The sibs, but especially Laios got chewed out about some shit and has been trying to be better, slips up every now and then but takes criticism well so long as folks tell him what he did/said wrong).
Local weird kids put off vibes that the rest of the village didn't like, Laios and Falin grew up bullied and ostracized. Falin got sent off to schooling in the big city and later to a university in Italy where she met Marcille.
Laios dropped out of high school and joined the military as soon as he was able to b/c he wanted to get the hell out of dodge. Served for a few shitty years b4 just... deserting and backpacking across Europe just straight up homeless and working whatever odd jobs he could find. Man was going through it. Wound up in the same city where Falin was studying at a university in and decided to visit her. She took one look at him and refused to let him just go back to what he was doing, so Laios started couch surfing with her (very much against dorm rules but he looked terrible and Falin wasn't about to let anyone stop her from making sure her brother has a roof over his head and food).
Eventually, she takes him with her when she does a work-study in the USA for her ecology degree and they ended up staying/Falin kinda maybe sorta dropped out and got a job with a vet near where she was doing her work-study.
Laios and Falin are technically illegal immigrants but they're white so no one really questions their citizenship (their working on getting citizenship/papers)
Laios gets a GED. Does some self-study from Falin's textbooks and online stuff but that's about it for his schooling.
Laios definitely, like, lives in Falin's basement. Falin is the primary breadwinner in this household, Laios is aware of this and has learned to accept it even tho he would like to take care of his baby sister and sometimes feels bad about not being able to. They used to share a room in a cheap apartment but after building up enough savings they managed to buy a suspiciously cheap house in a rural town bordering a reservation and not far from a national park.
Laios still works odd jobs, mostly physical labor and stuff where they won't ask for a degree. Has worked retail, where his customer service was trash but he's darn good at just stocking and shelving shit.
Met Chilchuck while working retail, Chilchuck introduced him to the concept of a union which Laios thinks is really neat.
The town where the Touden's moved has a sizable population of people with dwarfism, Chilchuck is a notable member of the little person community in the area. The Touden's go to Chilchuck for help with paperwork (they pay him a small fee) and he doesn't ask too many questions about why they don't have this or that piece of documentation.
Laios enjoys doing citizen science and bird watching. During the tourist season, he runs a small wilderness guide giving campers and hikers tours in the local national park.
There's a hermit that lives in the national park illegally (Senshi) that Laios and Falin made friends with. They love his cooking.
Laios is active in the online furry community. He does commissions, mostly of digital and physical art or people's fursonas and vore stuff. He does great ferals, and decent anthros, but his human art is not good (he's working on it).
Laios is decidedly chubby in this, his weight goes up and down depending on the season and how much physical activity he's doing. But ever since he reunited with Falin, she's been making sure he doesn't skip meals if they can afford to eat. And ever since he met Senshi he's gotten heftier since he loves that man's cooking.

9 people you want to get to know better!!
Tagged by @likemmmcookies : D
Favourite colour: oscillating between maroon and navy
Currently reading: The Nameless Ones by John Connoly (it's a crime thriller that I started reading for the incidentially gay assassins and it's great. But if you've got dwarfism, just be aware that one of the only characters who has the same condition feels really 'othered') & To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara (tragic, self-desctructive gays so far. Lots to say about class, colonialism and self-identity. There's a revolving door of MCs but I have to say this woman does unlikable main characters very well).
Last song: Anon -Dorian Electra (this artist would be a national treasure if America wasn't such a treasure trove of bigotry)
Last series: What We Do in the Shadows (mockumentary-supernatural-queers needs to be its own genre)
Last movie: The Killer Nurse (My mother and I like to watch true crime during lunch, okay?)
Working on: Various sewing projects that I'll only really finish after uni (which I am currently procrastinating on) this year.
EDIT: If I've tagged you, there's absolutely no pressure to do this, or to even fill in all the sections. I realise now that I've just dumped a truckful full of pressure on people, when being here should be a fun experience. I'm sorry for not seeing this sooner. Have fun out there!

Persephone's Height
So, Persephone's (from Lore Olympus) height has been debated and criticized. So here's my simple opinion.
The problem isn't that she's short. It's that she's fetishized for being short, even by Hades, her lover. It's that she is drawn like a child. I have seen couples with extreme height gaps. I'm short (by Western standards). My mother is short. All the women in my family are short (my gender is somewhere around "woman" so I'll just include myself in this category for simplicity). My father is of average height or slightly below average height (by Western standards). My parents have a large height gap. However, my father doesn't infantilize or fetishize my mother for being short. Sometimes he brings up her height, to lightheartedly make fun of her for being short, but not in a way meant to seriously compare the woman he loves to a child.
Meanwhile, Persephone's height is repeatedly brought up, in sexual ways, and she is compared to a child/teenager. She is one; at the start of the comic, she is nineteen (why would she be nineteen when she is a literal immortal goddess???), compared to Hades, who is two thousand years old! So yeah, she is a literal child compared to him! And she isn't even drawn like a nineteen-year-old, she's drawn like a toddler with balloons in her shirt. If she was drawn less childlike, acted less childlike, and was older, no one would be criticizing the height gap! To be fair to Rachel Smythe, I have sometimes been confused for a twelve-year-old, but that's because I actually look like one (not in a "cute child" way, but like an awkward just-starting-puberty way, and no, I'm not happy about it either) despite being quite a bit older. However, if I had a partner, I would not want them to see me as a child or a young teenager. And it's so clear that Hades sees Persephone like that, and finds her childlike qualities attractive. He is self-aware of how young she is, and how innocent, but still sexualizes her for her size while she is an employee working for him. That's really not a great start to a relationship. And we never see him admit this behavior to Persephone and apologize for it. So... yeah, he's a creep and a pedophile.
We could have the argument that it's just Rachel Smythe's style, but she knows how to draw adult women! Look at this!
Tumblr media
And this!
Tumblr media
AND THIS!
Tumblr media
AND THIS
Tumblr media
And this, which shows proves Rachel Smythe can draw a height difference without making the short one look like a child!
Tumblr media
BEAUTIFUL WOMEN WHO ARE ADULTS AND DON'T LOOK LIKE SEXUALIZED TODDLERS
But instead, we get Persebaby looking like a literal young child with her dad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm an Asian woman(ish) and Asian women are often fetishized for being "short" and "childlike," among other things. Obviously I know that Persephone isn't Asian. I mean, just look at this...
Tumblr media
I KNOW SHE'S Sicilian AND ALL I'M NOT TRYING TO SAY SHE'S ASIAN
However, Persephone being infantilized and fetishized for her size hits a little too close to home for me.
It would be cool if the height thing was because Persephone had dwarfism or something. I saw a redraw somewhere of Persephone with dwarfism, and that actually looked really cool. However, even then, there would be the problem of infantilizing people with dwarfism, so it would remain problematic. And Hades is supposedly like ten feet tall so... yeah.
Anyway, the problem isn't with the height gap. A good height gap, especially when one partner is "monstrous" can be very cute if done well. However, Persephone's height is used to infantilize and fetishize her. And that's not cute, especially when her much-older partner is the one doing this.
I will say that Rachel Smythe and her team have been doing a better job, for the most part, at portraying Persephone as an adult woman. But my criticism still remains.
