You know what? I don’t WANT an awkward double date. I don’t WANT buck coming out and people having the ‘I know’ reaction or the ‘is it Eddie’ reaction.
You know what I do want?
I want Buck panicking over what to wear for the date. I want Buck flopping on his bed like very teenager after their first kiss all giggly and happy and touching his lips because he kissed a boy
I want Buck smiling every time he says Tommy’s name because maybe it isn’t forever and maybe he’s not even looking for forever anymore but he’s so happy and he’s so light and being with Tommy feels good
I want Tommy to keep calling him Evan, because before Buck was Buck he was Evan and Evan deserves to be happy to be treated so softly and lovingly and Evan deserves to be free.
I want Buck to be happy. To be happy and free and queer in the way we all deserve.

I don't think I will ever NOT think about this gif right here and let me tell you why.
Tumblr media
Buck is trying so hard to deflect any positive emotion in this situation because he still feels immense guilt for "losing" Chris. Even though it all worked out in the end, he hasn't forgiven himself for it and doesn't think he ever will.
Then we have Eddie. The way Eddie follows Buck's eyes no matter how hard he tries to avert his gaze. He knows exactly what Buck is doing and he will NOT let him deflect this. He doesn't stop until their eyes meet. He needs Buck to know that's it's okay and that it's not his fault. He's following Buck's movements and forcing him to lock eyes with him.
Eddie is doing everything in his power to let Buck know that Chris is okay. He is okay. They are okay.

i'm torn between wanting buck and eddie to have a full-blown fight where they scream and yell and shove at each other because they just don't get it huh like they really don't get it OR wanting them to have a quiet soft conversation on the kitchen floor because they're both just tired of pretending that they don't know what this actually is OR if i want the fighting first and then the soft conversation help

@nymika-arts said that Buck probably didn't even know he had lichtenberg figures because he was in a coma for days and then she chose violence by also saying 'eddie tracing patterns in his skin where the figures once were and buck never knowing that that's why' so then I had a heap of feelings and wrote this about it
It’s not the first time Buck has woken up like this: Eddie’s body a warm weight against his side, the room dim in a way his apartment never quite gets, Eddie’s fingers tracing idle patterns on his shoulder and down his chest, lines branching out over his heart.
“Morning,” Buck mumbles before he gets his eyes open, blinking away sleep so that his boyfriend (his best friend, his everything) comes into focus.
Eddie’s hand skims down over his stomach, then disappears. He’s smiling when he answers, “Good morning.”
Buck smiles back. “You okay?”
There’s a tiredness in Eddie’s face that wasn’t there when they went to sleep last night, a heaviness dragging down his shoulders, but even as Buck watches, something lighter creeps in to chase it away.
“I was just thinking about how lucky I am.”
“Oh yeah?”
Buck tugs him in by the shirt and Eddie comes easily, his arm bracing on the pillow as they kiss. The first time they did this, Buck tried to turn away—wait, I’ve got morning breath—but Eddie just rolled his eyes and said, I’ve waited five years to kiss you, do you really think I care about morning breath? It might have been the most romantic thing Eddie has ever said to him. Or perhaps just the most memorable for the way they both laughed through the first attempt at a kiss and ended up getting up to brush their teeth anyway.
“Mmhm,” Eddie hums against his lips. “Because you’re going to make me breakfast.”
Amusement bubbles with the happiness coursing through Buck’s veins. “That’s why you’re lucky?“
“Well,” pretending to think about it, “I got to wake up with you too, so.”
There’s a soft, gooey spot in Buck’s chest just for Eddie. It nudges right up against the spot for Christopher and the one for the little family the three of them make, all overlapping his heart.
“Yeah,” Buck breathes. “I’m pretty lucky too.”
When he holds Eddie close to kiss him again, his hand finds the spot where a bullet almost took his partner away and he swears, for a moment, that he can still taste the blood. Then Eddie’s hand slips under his shirt to touch warm skin and it’s just them, the early morning, and the life stretching out in front of them. Suddenly, it doesn’t really feel like luck at all.

Buck: Can you do the thing?
Eddie: What thing?
Buck: You know, the thing that makes me happy.
Eddie. Oh. *smiles*
Buck, quietly: Thanks.

WIP Wednesday 🌙
Tagged by @dangerpronebuddie & @fortheloveofbuddie - thank you Maggie and Caroline!
I have more of 'sleepy' fic to share. It's probably the only thing getting me through this week. And yes I'm aware I only just finished Tuesday. Sigh.
Normally I'm posting this and then heading to sleep, but today I'm posting this and off to the hospital for an MRI at 1:45am. Woo. (I'm fine—mostly—we're trying to figure out something tho so fingers crossed for answers 🤞🏼)
Anyways, enjoy a bit of a longer snippet of Buddie being the softest:
He wraps his arms around Eddie, his back to the spray, and drops his forehead down onto Eddie’s shoulder like he’d been craving before. It isn’t going to be the first time that they’ve showered like this, where one of them can’t really move to do anything, so Buck isn’t concerned about being clingy. There’s the sound of a cap popping before fingers work into his hair, lathering up the lavender scented shampoo that Eddie teases Buck about. But Eddie knows Buck’s hair needs it for his curls, and happily picks it up when Buck is running low and forgets to grab more for the Diaz household. Another sign of Eddie’s love for Buck. He hums in pleasure as Eddie massages his scalp, the soft pressure of the shower along his spine and back muscles helping as well. Buck very well could fall asleep standing here, but he doesn’t want to put that on Eddie, so he straightens when Eddie taps his shoulder, tilting his head back to rinse out the suds. Eddie guides Buck back to his resting spot before he repeats the same actions with the similarly scented conditioner. And then Eddie’s hands are across Buck’s body, washing the sweat and soot off of his skin, gently nudging him to leave against the warmed tiles so Eddie can wash the front of Buck’s body as well. Eddie’s touch is gentle, more of a caress, ensuring each spot on Buck’s skin is washed and touched, dropping kisses along the paths he can reach without crouching as he goes. Overall, Buck is feeling very loved and cared for.

be the lightning in me (strike relentless)
co-writer: @princessfbi 6x12 coda - 1.3k - g - read on ao3
“You died, Buck. You’re gonna feel a lot of different ways about that. Sometimes all at the same time. I found the best way to process it is to… allow yourself to feel it.”
“How do you feel about that?” The question’s been burning at the tip of Buck’s tongue since he first woke up, since he came out of the coma. Since he first saw the darkness hiding beneath Eddie’s relieved smile– lingering in his features, clinging to the shadows beneath his eyes and the stubble across his jaw.
Ever since, the question’s been swimming in his mind, itching at his skin, begging to be asked. To be answered.
Eddie sighs, suddenly very much occupied with trimming the crusts off of Christopher’s sandwich. “Buck–”
“No, I– I’m serious,” Buck presses. He has to know. He can’t bear it any longer. “E-Everyone keeps asking me how I feel. But who’s asking you?”
Eddie sets the knife down on the counter with a small huff. He walks over to the fridge, completely dodging the question. “You think Chris would rather have blueberries or grapes?”
“Grapes,” Buck doesn’t miss a beat. “Eddie.” Buck pushes because Eddie is the one person who pushes back and Buck doesn’t know why Eddie won’t even look at him.
“Don’t ask me that, Buck.”
It isn’t a request.
Buck’s breath hitches, trapped somewhere in the back of his throat because it isn’t a request. It isn’t a command. It isn’t anything more than a raw, unfiltered plea from somewhere deep in Eddie’s chest.
Buck doesn’t move. Moving feels dangerous. Like he’s waiting for lightning to strike again, but instead of him, it’s Eddie up on that ladder.
But he needs Eddie to push back. How else is Buck supposed to remember that any of this is real?
“Why not?” He asks, just as raw. Just as much of a plea. Maybe even a little more desperate.
There’s something unreadable in Eddie’s expression. His voice is quiet when he speaks, rough in a way it only ever gets when thick with emotion. “Because I don’t want to lie to you.”
“Then don’t.” He swallows around the dryness that’s suddenly appeared in his throat. “I died.” Saying it out loud, saying it seriously , for the first time makes his heart slam into his ribcage.
“Yeah.” Eddie draws in a long, shaky breath, He scrubs his hand over his face, his chest rising and falling slowly. He doesn’t say anything for a moment. A moment Buck clings to because he’s starting to understand just how much can be missed in a moment. Eddie braces himself against the countertop, fists clenching so tight his knuckles turn white. “It felt like a part of me died, too.”
The push. Buck feels it as the words nudge against his chest and find their way in between his ribs. The words are frank, strong. But they feel like they could shatter any second anyway.
“Why?”
“You know why.”
Buck holds his breath. “Pretend I don’t.”
“Because when your heart stopped so did mine.” Eddie says, brave and heartbroken all at once. His gaze cuts to Buck and it’s like being struck by lightning all over again. “I love you.”
Eddie’s never said that before. Not without man or dude tacked onto the end of it. And never with such a softness to it. Never with the words dripping with reverence. Never like this. It sends Buck into a tailspin, his chest squeezing and his heart pounding as he replays the three words over in his mind. His pulse hammers in his ears.
“Eddie,” he breathes.
Eddie’s chin trembles before he bites his cheek and looks away. “You were just hanging there and I– I couldn’t pull you up.” His voice breaks.
“I’m sorry.” The shaky edge to Buck’s voice wasn’t there a minute ago.
The sound Eddie barks out is harsh and catches in his nose as he shakes his head. “You don’t—”
He stops himself with a hand to his mouth, pushing away the bite of his words. Eddie curls his arms around himself like he’s trying to hold himself from splitting in two and it makes something in Buck ache.
“You don’t have to apologize for being struck by lightning, Buck,” Eddie says, softer, gentler but just as certain. There’s forgiveness in his eyes all the same.
Buck rises from his barstool, walking around the island until he’s closed the distance between them. He reaches for Eddie’s hands, taking them in his own as he meets Eddie’s eyes. “And you don’t have to blame yourself for what happened to me.”
Eddie’s gaze drops and Buck knows what Eddie’s instincts were telling him. He knows because his own are screaming at him to do the same, begging himself to stop exposing the throbbing live wire of a nerve they’d bandaged and pretended wasn’t hurting.
Eddie barely gets the space to swerve before Buck is grabbing onto the first thing he can reach. Eddie’s hips are warm and soft beneath the harsh fabric of his jeans, giving to the slight pressure of Buck’s fingertips as he holds on.
Eddie swallows, trying to back away, but Buck follows because if he doesn’t, he doesn’t think he would be able to find this moment again. The counter keeps them pinned and Buck dips down to catch Eddie’s eyes again.
“Eddie,” he breathes. He’s too close. Close enough that he can count the number of endless lashes framing those hazel eyes. Close enough he can see the heartache swimming behind them. The hope, too. “I’m right here.”
Eddie’s mouth trembles. “But you weren’t.”
“I know,” Buck says. He has the sore chest and the bruises and the lightning branded into his skin to prove it.
“Three minutes, Buck,” Eddie says, his words wet and thick with emotion fighting to break free from his resolve. “For three minutes you weren’t here. And I-I-I can’t…”
“I love you,” Buck says. Pushes because maybe that’s what they both need. Eddie’s eyes flutter closed as he exhales and Buck pushes again. “I love you, too.” The words roll off his tongue effortlessly, like they’ve been waiting a lifetime for the chance. Maybe they have been.
Eddie’s face twitches before he opens his eyes again. Strong, shaky fingers tangle in his t-shirt, holding him there like Eddie doesn’t want Buck to float away.
Not even a hurricane could’ve made Buck move then.
Eddie’s eyes shine as his fingers brush against Buck’s cheek. He touches him like he’s special, not like he’s fragile. Like he’s something precious.
Buck presses his forehead against Eddie’s and a small breath from Eddie ghosts across Buck’s lips. The moment stretches between them like infinity and Buck breathes through the tension of it.
“Please,” Buck manages, the word hanging between them in the space between their lips.
Eddie kisses him and everything settles. The uncertainty snapping like static at the base of his spine softens and the low hum that’s been buzzing beneath Buck’s skin goes quiet.
His blood sings as he melts into Eddie’s touch.
A low sigh escapes his lips as Eddie pulls away too soon and Buck can’t help but chase after him.
“I love you,” Buck murmurs. He doesn’t think he’ll ever tire of saying it, doesn’t think he’ll ever lose sight of the wonder that comes from being in love with Eddie and from being loved by Eddie in return.
Eddie kisses him again and Buck’s breath hitches, warmth exploding behind his chest. He makes a tiny, contented noise in the back of his throat. He’s never felt more alive.
Buck was dead, but Eddie brought him back. In more ways than one.
Eddie breathes life into him in a way he hadn’t realized he so desperately needed, clinging to the inside of his lungs and permeating his soul on the deepest level. They’re two halves of one whole.
Eddie brings their joined hands to his lips and lets his lips ghost across Buck’s knuckles. And with that, the last of the ache in Buck’s chest ebbs away like the tide beneath a full moon, his heart called home to Eddie’s like waves to the sea.

You know what i probably love the most about BuckTommy; that the fandom is finally agreeing on a relationship Buck or Eddie is having. You know mostly their relationships were thrashed (which was for good reason i agree) but i love how welcomed BuckTommy is by the fandom (which they deserve) 😭❤️

Slow dancing for the soft prompts?
Tumblr media
“C’mon, up you get.”
Eddie’s voice cuts through the gentle hiss of rain against the windows and the soft staticky music leaking from the small radio perched next to the fridge.
Buck lifts his head from where it had been resting on his folded arms, blearily searching the now dark kitchen for his husband. He can feel the beginnings of a headache pounding in his temples and his mouth feels like he swallowed sand.
“Wha– what time is it?” Buck asks, throat clicking as he tries to rewet his mouth.
Scrubbing his hands over his face, Buck twists in his kitchen chair to look at the clock hanging on the wall. It takes him a moment to read the small numbers, but when he does finally manage it he’s surprised to see how late it is. He had planned to already have dinner ready, but the remnants of half completed prep is strewn around the countertops. Halfway through preparing the food, Buck had to sit down at the kitchen table — the ache in his leg becoming too persistent to ignore.
“It’s time for you to go to bed,” Eddie hums, smoothing a warm palm across Buck's shoulders. Buck leans into the contact, shifting toward Eddie’s warmth like a sunflower seeking the sun.
“Mm— not tired,” Buck mumbles, tilting his head up for a kiss.
Eddie complies with the request, easily planting one against Buck’s lips before asking, “oh really? Why were you sleeping on the table then?”
Buck sags, knee and hip twinging as if to remind him why. “I was just resting.”
Calloused fingers card through his probably wildly unkempt curls, and Buck finds him sinking more and more against the solid warmth of Eddie pressed against him. Just when he thinks he could actually nod off like this, Eddie breaks the silence.
“Is your leg bothering you?”
Biting his lip, Buck sighs as he spins his wedding band around his finger. The warm metal glints in the lowlight of the hall light filtering into the kitchen. There are more days than not that his leg ends up bothering him. But that’s to be expected when he had fallen through the floor of a burning warehouse and landed on his previously crushed leg. Today is just particularly bad.
Buck had known it was coming, had woken up with the telltale stiffness in his joints. But he had ignored it, not bothering to do any of the stretches his PT had taught him, hoping to muscle through like he used to be able to do. He knows that was stupid of him. There’s a small curl of embarrassment settling in his belly, and he debates not telling Eddie. He doesn’t even have a good reason he can provide for why he didn’t do anything. Not one he can articulate at least.
In the end, he decides he doesn’t like lying to Eddie, even by omission. “Yeah, it is.”
“Did you do your stretches?”
Buck’s silence is answer enough and Eddie nods to himself. “Okay, c’mere.”
Eddie gets a big hand wrapped around Buck’s bicep and helps him stand from the kitchen chair. Buck goes willingly, letting Eddie pull him up and into his arms.
At first, he thinks they’re just embracing, and he’s not complaining about it, soaking up all the heat radiating off of his husband. Then Eddie starts rearranging Buck’s arms, getting them loosely looped around his neck before Eddie’s palms slide to Buck’s waist, holding him gently.
The music coming from the radio is low, too low for Buck to identify the song that’s playing. But he can hear enough to realize that Eddie is moving them in a slow shuffling rhythm around the kitchen that matches the staticky rhythm humming through tinny speakers.
“Babe, what are you doing?”
“Dancing— we’re dancing,” Eddie replies, swaying their bodies together as they rock side to side.
Buck shoots Eddie an incredulous look, but he just leans forward and kisses it off Buck’s face. “We can do your stretches instead, if you would like?”
With a laugh, Buck shakes his head fondly. “You’re ridiculous,” he mutters, but continues to follow Eddie’s lead, letting himself be slowly spun around the kitchen.
It helps. The ache doesn’t leave him entirely, but the stiffness slowly bleeds from his joints — the slow gentle movements of their “dancing” and the warmth of Eddie helping to ease the persistent discomfort.
Gradually, Buck finds himself relaxing, allowing more of his weight to settle on his husband. Eddie accepts it gracefully, a pillar of strength against Buck.
“There you go, baby,” Eddie murmurs, pressing a kiss to Buck’s temple.
Tucking his head into the hollow of Eddie’s throat, Buck sighs out, “thank you.”
“Always,” Eddie says as if it’s just that easy.
Maybe it is.
send me a soft prompt and I'll write a little something!

I'm so very intrigued by Buck being in civvies cause the only explanation is they aren't working the same shift or Buck is on leave and showed up at work to talk to Eddie and both options are like, WHAT. IS. HAPPENING?!!
Like, we saw Buck in civvies while Eddie was in uniform when he got shot but that was because Eddie got to work like ten minutes early and they rushed out on a call. If Eddie is in the middle of a work-out then he's been at work for awhile so Buck should be in uniform too so like WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?

Both Buck and Eddie are such a soft boys. In first seasons with Eddie it might be not so seen, but if you look deeper, if you look at him with Chris you see how gentle and sweet and soft he is. And Buck even during his 1.0 times was quite soft with everyone. But the most soft scenes are of them together with or without Chris and it's so so cute and that's why I love them. They are incredible people, who ofc has their flaws, went through a lot, but still choose to be soft to people around, to their family and each other
Their friendship based on vulnerability and trust, on seeing your friend in pain and stay with them in this pain and darkness till you both can find the light. On getting angry on each other, but forgave and went forward. On talking to each other(even if leaving some things unsaid). On being family. On being soft and gentle presence in each other life bringing happiness and light to life of each other. On being exactly what the other one was missing

hey, imagine eddie coming out to the team and feeling nervous about it but also giddy and free bc finally he's starting to be that person he always wanted to be but was too scared to. and it's like, yeah he loves buck and he is in love with buck but it doesn't have anything to do with him, this is just eddie's moment accepting and embracing his sexuality and sharing it with his family and friends.
and and and imagine eddie going to his first pride parade and having christopher and tia with him and the rest of the 118.
imagine eddie experiencing all of that for the first time and being surrounded by community and people who get it.
imagine chris hugging eddie tightly at pride and telling how proud he is of being his son and Tía Pepa kissing his forehead, soft and tender and telling him how much she loves him. and omg may painting a demisexual or a pride flag on his cheek and grinning at him so happy and just— 🥺
imagine buck hugging him sideways, in that kind of hug that only buck can give and telling eddie how amazing buck think he is and how proud he is to have him in his life and imagine hen smiling at eddie and holding his hand bc she's been where he is and she feels so grateful to share such a special moment with him.
