For Anon who sent me the question about TUA S4 content spoilers but also everyone - Please do not send me info/ask me about production or filming things for S4! Outside of official promos and trailers and whatnot, I do not want to know about it! My goal is to go into S4 as blind as possible. I want to have no expectations so I'm not coloring my watch with what I think is or isn't going to happen.

Am I going to be successful in this endeavour? No. I'll see some spoilers for sure as they pop up on my dash and on Insta and Twitter and whatnot. But I'd like to limit it, if I can. I watched S1 and S2 without a scrap of prior knowledge of the show and had so much fucking fun, and I was relatively successful on avoiding anything too big on S3. I'd like to maintain that with our final go around, if I can.

i don't ship the Hargreeves together, and would say that generally i don't ship much of anything since im ace/aro. . . but i don't really mind luther/sloane? like i get that its kinda weird but i approach it in generally the same way that id approach diego/lila or allison/raymond or even klaus/dave in that i dont really care about the ship itself but characters in canon are made happier by their s/o so im not upset by seeing the ship or interacting with it but yknow.

Great question anon, you've really got me thinking on this one. I'm going to let you decide what you want to do because like I said in my previous ask, I don't really know how to feel about Luther/Sloane either. I view them as step siblings but it feels different from any of the Umbrellas x each other. Do I still view it as a form of incest? I guess, but I'm being completely honest when I say I just don't have strong feelings about 100% opposing them. Maybe this is going against what I've been saying on this account, but I can never stop people from shipping characters.

I've shared some strong feelings in the past and may have hurt others with my thoughts about shipping within TUA, as every fandom does have issues with ships. My issue is just with viewing the shipping of the Umbrellas as incest, which is already something debated in the fandom. I'm not going dive into this controversial topic at the moment, but my own thoughts aside I have seen people with adopted siblings within the fandom become uncomfortable with the Umbrellas being shipped because in real life it doesn't matter that their sibling is adopted, it's their sibling. So it just all becomes a matter of opinion when it comes to what you consider incest in TUA.

To me Luther and Sloane are step siblings, but then I also think about how they weren't raised together as siblings, but in this alternate universe Reginald is still their father so I believe it connects them as step siblings. On top of this, Reginald has something to do with the creation of all 43, or 16, children so does that connect them as their father besides him being their adoptive father? I don't know, and maybe we'll get an actual answer in the final season, but besides that Luther and Sloane feel different to me.

I really and truly appreciate you reaching out to me about your concern, anon. I have decided that I'm going to go ahead and remove that dni from my bio now. I think I'll go about my own way of trying navigate the fandom with this issue (which it's an "issue" to me not just something within the fandom) instead of having a big ol' dni in my bio. I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about Luther and Sloane, but my views on shipping the Umbrellas with each other and Sparrows with each other still stand as it makes me uncomfortable.

have you watched it? because im gonna drop a ton of spoilers right there. :D

first of all, i love klaus, and im so glad he had lots of screen time this season, and it all looked somewhat... balanced? the writers didn't try THAT HARD to make this show funny anymore (yeah, there were some awful lines, but i can ignore them). this show is naturally funny its own way, no words needed.

sure thing, i was excited to see a "nice" reginald. also i think he wanted klaus to be the one to make a deal - come on, what villain wouldn't want an immortal sidekick? but it was klaus who tried to change reggie instead, despite being broken, addicted to reggie's sudden hostility, he sort of broke all of his plans. klaus seems so easy to manipulate, but at the same time he's incredibly strong and stubborn, and just being "nice" to him is not enough.

here we come to allison. i absolutely loved the idea of her character this season, and it was very interesting to know how far she can go to get what she lost. the scene of her rumoring herself is one of the best scenes. i wonder what her "universe reset" actually did, though.

the only purpose of stan as a character was to accidentally kill klaus, then evaporate and be never mentioned again. how nice :) also diego and lila randomly having a kid... idek, not necessary to me, just like all romantic relationship in this show. the only one that made sense to me was almond, and then maybe klave, but i think we can forget about crt dave at this point. it was nice 3 sec love story in s1, and now... they should either make them a confirmed couple or let klaus move on.

i really, really don't want this show to be romance-centered at any point. let it just be family action show.

also i love klaus soooo much im glad we got to see more of him and his backstory and even some character development… and his powers!!! honestly tho the whole last seasons driving plot being about the Commission and the intricacies and laws of time travel and how it intersects with the umbrella academys stories was SOOO GOOD…. and then this seasons main plot points were. luther wants to bone and then marry the enemy family girl. diegos still doing his weird toxic ass thing with lila who lies to him about having his child???? and allison goes full evil because she thinks her daughter not existing is like the most trauma anyones ever faced :| girl shut the HELL up. i felt rly let down by the plot in this it sucked honestly. and how did we go from 2 amazing moving queer relationships to ZERO while i had to sit through tropey straight bullshit. ugh. did yall forget to run this script by gerard or what lmao

i did generally like the ben plotline tho, like i rly didnt see it coming that he was gonna be a huge asshole??? i kinda wanted more of OUR ben who i loved tho :( but they rly made it work in the latter half of his plotline i think. like i didnt buy his whole deal but they finally gave him motives and emotions by the end and that was GOOD. really liked how that rounded out. the other sparrows were literally nothing tho like bye rip i guess????

exactly!! i have to say im pretty biased against shitty male characters (think kylo ren, luke castellan, etc) and saying that you don't like a female character because she did some pretty horrible things by any standard isn't a bad thing either and doesn't mean you're a misogynist or whatever the statement is trying to imply. tua is literally a time travelling superhero show so obviously characters are going to do bad things.

i don't like lila not because she's a murderer or maladjusted because of her upbringing (which all the hargreeves are to some degree), but because while the hargreeves are able to see past their upbringing and how it fucked them all over to be better for one another and come together to try and be a true family and save the world, lila never shows any remorse for the shitty things she does to the people that she claims to love. and that to me is worse than any 'moral' conflict. she only cries some tears at the end when it all blows up in her face and she realizes she's been being played like the cheap kazoo she is by the Handler- which is exactly what she'd been actively doing to the hargreeves all along and not caring. looks like some people can dish it out but not take it.

anyways aside from that. people get the misconception that i don't like her because she's a woman who does bad things (wrong) or because she's diego's love interest (tbh it goes deeper than that) or even because she's a murderer and a killer and all that edgy shit (wrong. lmao.) i don't like her because she's manipulative and borderline abusive, and that's not how you're supposed to treat people that you claim to love. or anyone in general, really. i don't understand how we as a society just glossed over the fact that she literally roofied diego's drink after pretending to emphasize with him and then kidnapped him away from his family who he was planning on returning home with to take him to the commission so he could stay with her forever.

on that note, it's six am and ive written far too much already. and can i just say, manic pixie dream villain is absolutely the perfect descriptor.

lila saw the report on her parents

something felt off about the whole thing, though...lila said her parents were killed in an armed robbery, so why did the handler lie all these years? and why was the handler there to take lila in?

final battle-type thing

it was interesting, indeed

all the agents in the same place

something just didn’t feel right

you were, of course, shielded from the blast

and got to see lila’s powers up-close

five explained some things in between the fighting that started to make sense of the whole thing

“lila, maybe we should listen to him?”

you ended up trying to pull her away from all this, but she knocked you away

you ended up watching diego try and help her, which was a bit heartwarming tbh

until the handler shot you all

Keep in mind, Allison was about to rumor her and Vanya was just trying to protect herself from Allison’s manipulation. Also, for years she was treated less than them all because Allison rumored her into thinking she was and bottling up all that anger for that longs, it’s going to explode eventually. But then again, it wasn’t completely Allison’s fault because Reginald made her do it and also, slicing your sisters throat is pretty fucked up. I mean my little sister drives me nuts all the time but I wouldn’t slice her throat.😁

umbrella academy season two thoughts

under cut cause spoilers (also its long)

in no order cause this is just me ranting

time travel

okay so i really hate how this show handles time travel

really that applies to the comics as well but

time travel has two options

one timeline where going back in time creates the future (ex: harry potter)

this is the option i prefer

every time you time travel to the past you create an alternate universe, the time line splits at the point where you arrive back in time

so in season one five goes back to before the apocalypse and now there are two timelines: the one where he went back and the one where he didn’t

any story where the past changes and wasn’t actually just like that all along is multiverse

this show uses the second option, which i generally dislike because either the consequences of the multiverse aren’t addressed or are just messy

hey guess what? this show is dealing with the consequences!! i love that they’re addressing it (also cause it wouldn’t make sense for them to go back to their original timeline cause uhhhhhhh that world still blew up)

but the consequences are messy and im sad about ben so idk that i would really call myself a fan

but overall i am very pleased that they have to deal with time travel consequences

but also if five had killed his younger but physically older self he still would have existed because he is from a different time line. they’re not 100% the same person

they’d be the same person if five remembered all this happening (option one), but then he would remember not killing himself and thus it wouldn’t happen

this is why i like option one for time travel because then you don’t have to deal with a version of your past self who your are allowed to kill because this is not the past self that led to you

make sense? no? exactly. time travel sucks

this is also why i hate the time commission

romance lines

ray was nice but why does allison keep getting married

she was there for like two years why is she married

first observations from the trailer

ok so the worlds ending 11/25/63, three days after jfk gets murked, so im assuming central plot is going to mimic dallas arc a lot more. they gotta put time right and kill jfk to save the world. im assuming if he lives theres gonna be a worldwide nuclear winter bc theres tanks deployed, destroyed buildings and you see the nuclear launches and the trajectory of where each country with nuclear access is sending their bombs, no one is safe. also confirmed five is the last one to come back and everyone else has kinda made a new life for themselves. but its so nice to see hazel back!! maybe he snuck agnes back with him?? we have ten days to save the world!!!

ok im just gonna go down the line as reggie boi labeled the siblings as useful to him so starting with #1

luther- is comfortable with his body??? hes shirtless as fuck in that trailer. first in the fighting ring and then in front of that explosion. i think hes learning to be himself without the number one label and hes doing a lot of growing. hes also the first one five calls for??

diego- that nerdist article said hes gonna be the one in charge trying to bring the lil fam back together again so i am excited to see that. he also looks so attractive sos i like the long hair so much. but uhh it looks like hes also in some kind of mental hospital? so i guess thats where he finds lila? also shes a possible love interest? bc like for a brief second you can see her grab his face

allison- looks like shes gonna be a really strong player this season and have a good relationship finally with her sister. also, shes participating in a sit in! shes 100% going to be a part of the civil rights movement in this season and she DOES in fact have her voice, so if they do the twins arc from the comics theyre gonna have to find a new way to manipulate her and use her voice. 

klaus- i wanna join his cult, like so badly. his cult looks fun, and hes 100% using the fact that hes from the future and his powers to become a prophet. which, like, i dont blame him thats lit as hell. i dont hate the beard as much as i thought it would and it looks like it gets shaved quickly. he also learns how to drive??? i think with all the blue looking blasts we see in the trailer hes gonna learn how to use more of his powers bc his powers manifestations were blue last season. also it really looks like hes just not tryna find dave so either he already tried and it was a no go or hes moved on and learned to live with it.

five is the last to show up. hes also going to be going back and forth between the commision and the group just like last time, and he has the added advantage this time around of his siblings all having gone through this already and not only knowing the past but the future. they know how to find people that would have been alive in this time period and how history turned out if all goes well with them stopping the apocalypse. can they give him mr pennycrumb the dog whos only powers are being adorable??? and he eats ice cream?

ben is still dead what the fuck/???? but he seems to be more fleshed out as a character this season and i cannot wait to see more of him. a good good boy all i can say is im excited. 

vanya- nerdist confirmed her amnesia so she gets to move on without her trauma and shes got like??? a gf and step kids??? i hope. but other than that we get to see her dancing with klaus and allison and i hope the three of them get to bond and be cute and she deserves to have fun with her family and when she eventually regains her memory i hope it can be growth and easing from her pain. also her just existing probably puts missy and her kids in a lot of danger and imdb isnt showing how many episodes theyre in as of the last time i checked. 

the swedes- im assuming are carmichaels top assassins sent for the umbrella academy specifically bc of how royally they screwed up the 2019 end of the world. we see diego face off against them a lot in the trailer. 

carmichael- FISH HEAD FISH HEAD FISH HEAD im SOOOOO EXCITED TO SEE CARMICHAEL SOS IM SCREAMING I THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA DO IT AND THEN THEY SAID NIC CAN HAVE A LITTLE CARMICHAEL AS A TREAT my favorite little sadistic shubunkin top authority of the temps!!!

lila- marry me bih. she looks so cute and fun. imdb confirms shes in every episode so shes not gonna get fridged like patch. she seems cool i want to see her constantly. im sure just being near diego makes her a target for the swedes as well. 

the monocle- reggie boiiiiiii i think theyre gonna discuss more of his origins and whether or not hes actually human. im assuming the fuckin tiki bar is his house bc hes a rich weirdo. dont forget even tho he was a piece of shit hes probably a really really really useful superscientist for the hargeeves siblings right now in the current time period. 

pogo- were gonna see his origin story, and by that delve deeper into reggies work with super intelligence and chimps. im excited, and now maybe we will get a pogo that since hes younger is less willing to hide things from the kids later if they save the world and then regular time plays out and theyre born 20 years later and all.
