Izzy Hands x Reader (GN)
SEASON 2 CONTENT AHEAD!!!
Blackbeard rules the sea. Despite wanting his captain back, Izzy realises his mistake. Protecting the crew is his concern. Protecting you is his life mission. Stede's return brings hope, but there's a lot of work to be done before this crew becomes a family.
{Masterlist}
{Previous Chapter} - {Next Chapter}
Warnings: Spoilers. The ending he deserved. WHEN I CATCH YOU RICKY.
Chapter Seventeen - The unicorn and his sparrow
♡♡♡
It was funny. In a way. This whole thing had started with you in Stede's brig and now you were locked up with his crew. So much had happened since then.
The fucking Navy. Not even just that. Richard Banes.
Zheng had intended to use the Navy, but the prince as used that against her. He had given each ship a gift, a grandfather clock, as a sign of "peace." Only they were full of explosives and he had used them to destroy her fleet.
Now the Republic of Pirates was flooded with the English.
You were sat in the cell below Jackie's bar with the rest of the crew. Izzy hadn't left your side the entire time. When the bar got flooded with Navy men, Izzy had pushed you behind him. When you were caught and being manhandled, Izzy swore more than you had ever heard before. It was a constant "get your hands off them." He did not like seeing you being pushed around.
As soon as the cell was locked behind you, Izzy gathered you in his arms and held you to his chest. You had to reassure him you were okay.
Prince Richard decided to come pay you all a visit. "Hello, friends."
You reach for Izzy's hand. He squeezes yours back.
"This is bittersweet. I mean, here we all are at the end of piracy and you'll all be hung in the next few minutes and all your stories will be lost for the ages. Which is a shame because I do love a good pirates' tale. But don't you worry. Because I will not be hanging you by the thumbs like that deranged Captain Kidd." The prince rattles on.
"That's not what he did, you twat," Izzy says from the back of the cell. His hand was still holding yours.
"Oh, my. The great Izzy Hands," the prince claps.
"And you're... Pinocchio?" Izzy asks, mocking the man. You laugh with the others.
"A new one. Bring him upstairs."
You stop laughing.
"Sir, aren't we going to hang them?" The man beside the prince asks.
"Oh, yes. But they're not going anywhere." Richard smiles. "So I have time for a drink with a legend."
As the prince walks away, Izzy is summoned closer to the gate. You squeeze his hand, silently asking him not to go. Izzy turns to you. You look at him with leading eyes, shaking your head softly.
"Don't." The word falls from your lips in a soft whisper.
"I'll be alright. I'm coming back for you," he says softly. Your expression doesn't change and it hurts Izzy's heart to see you look so worried for him.
Izzy let's go of your hand and exits the cell. He turns to you once more before going upstairs.
You sink against the ball.
"Fuck."
♡♡♡
"Can't believe I have an audience with the great Israel Hands. That's absolutely astounding." Richard is in awe.
Izzy just focuses on the candles on the table.
"I've always thought you were underrated. I mean, it's absurd, isn't it? Isn't it? That Blackbeard, he gets all this praise, when you are quite clearly the brains of this operation?"
"Ya don't know the first thing about piracy, do ya?" Izzy asks him, looking up from the candle.
"Don't I?"
"It's not about glory. It's not about gettin' what you want. Its about belonging to something when the world bad told you you're nothin'. It's about finding the family to kill for when yours are long dead. It's about letting go of ego for something larger." You and the crew cross his mind. "The crew."
"Oh, my goodness. You've just grown so tedious." Richard chuckles dryly.
♡♡♡
Archie and Fang are trying to help pry the bars open enough for someone to slip through. You're sat on the cold ground of the cell staring at your dirty old boots.
What was this prince fuck talking about with Izzy? Why did he have to take him upstairs? Was Izzy okay?
Frenchie sits down beside you. "You doin' okay?" He asks.
"Peachy..."
"They'll bring him back. Izzy won't go down without a fight."
You sighs softly. "I know..."
"And he's not going to leave you here. Izzy cares for you more than he does for anyone. He's not gonna let you down."
You smile. "He could never do that."
Frenchie nudges your arm lightly.
"I worry about him. Like, all the time. I've sailed with Izzy Hands for years. I've known him deeper than anyone else ever has. He's let me see sides to him you would otherwise think didn't exist. I love him so damn much and now we're trapped here surrounded by the fucking Navy... And that prick has Izzy up there. I swear to god if that dick touches my Izzy, I will drive my sword through his eyes."
Frenchie grimaces. He gets the picture.
"Sorry."
"Don't be. I get it," he says, smiling.
You chuckle softly.
♡♡♡
"I destroyed the Republic of Pirates and that makes me the ultimate pirate," Ricky said to Izzy.
Izzy is amused. "You're not a pirate, lad. You're a spoiled, entitled bunch of twats dressed in puffy, blue nighties."
"Shame, I was going to let you live."
"Kill me." Izzy smiles. "Kill us all. Our spirit will last throughout your entire fuckin' empire because... we're good." Izzy states, full of emotion. "And you... are a rancid, syphilitic cunt."
The sound of vast footsteps entering the bar has everyone turning their heads that way. Stede has entered with Zheng and Ed behind him.
"There's a lot of them," Stede says, looking around the room.
Within second of the Navy drawing their swords, they all keel over. Poison.
"Is that us doing that?" Stede asks.
Roach and Pete look around the room in confusion. Jackie laughs from behind them.
"What the hell was in that brandy?" Roach asks.
"Nothin' you want to fuck with." Jackie grins.
While Jackie assures the Swede he will be fine, Zheng walks over to Ricky and grabs him by the coat. "This is for Auntie."
"No!"
Zheng looks up to see Auntie there. She's fine. The rest of the crew flood into the bar. Auntie hits Ricky over the head and the crew greet their captain.
You waste no time making your way over to Izzy and checking him over. He smiles at your fussing.
"I'm fine," he assures you.
You take his face in your hands and look at him, sighing softly. "I was worried about you."
"I know," he smiles.
He brings one of your hands to his lips and kisses it gently. His eyes don't stay from yours.
Zheng and Auntie hug.
Everyone is together again.
"So we should probably make a plan here," Stede says, looking around.
"Still surrounded by English Soldiers."
"I think a royal hostage could prove valuable," Stede states.
Everyone gathers to hear the plan. It's completely diabolical. Probably the most insane plan you had ever heard. So dangerous and risky, anyone with sense would never go through with it.
"So, that is the plan." Stede says proudly. "We all live to fight another day."
"Or it's a complete suicide mission," Ed says.
The crew agree with that. You and Izzy glance at each other. Once again his hand is nestled in yours.
"It's only suicide if we die."
♡♡♡
You shrug on the blue coat, a size too big for you. You pick up one of the hats from the floor and place it on your head. The crew do the same. Stripping down the soldiers and taking their gear.
A disguise.
Izzy stares at the coat he is holding in his hand. You look at him softly. He doesn't react as you come over to him and slowly take the coat from him. He lets you take it from his hands and lets you help him put it on. You will the coat around him and smile.
"Very handsome."
"I'm not wearing the fucking hat."
You chuckle. "Course not. But I like the coat. Maybe we should get you a nice long coat."
Izzy rolls his eyes and shakes his head with a smile. "Don't be daft."
Once everyone was dressed, Ricky was trusted to you and Izzy, and everyone left the bar. Including Jackie and the Swede. Everyone was going to get off that island.
You were all going to take down as many English as you could. Groups of them were littered around the island.
The crew just needed to reach the shore.
Izzy handles Ricky. You follow him, staying close. The others follow.
"Hello," Ricky greets the group of soldiers. "The operation is over now, so we're just gonna head back to the ships, please."
It could have gone so smoothly.
You hadn't seen Ricky gesture down where he parted his legs enough for Izzy's wooden one to be seen. In a split second Ricky drew a gun and shot it.
"They're pirates!" He yells.
You hear Izzy groan, having been close enough to beside him. Your head snaps to him to see him holding his side. Blood is oozing out.
"Izzy!"
The crew fight the soldiers as you push Izzy to the side. You try to get a good look at the wound, but he refuses to move his hand.
"Izzy..."
"Come on," he grunts. He marches past you and onward. The crew follow. You hurry to catch up to him.
Izzy has been shot! That fucking prick.
The prince gets away.
The path down to the shore is clear. It's a straight run down. The crew will just have to watch behind them.
Izzy is falling behind. You refuse to go on ahead. You come over to his side and hold him where he hasn't been shot.
"Izzy?"
"Just... fuck off." He says it softly, no malice behind his words. He's hurting. When Izzy is in pain, you hurt too.
The crew are being shot at from behind. You hold onto Izzy as best as you can. Ed slows and hurries over, taking Izzy on the other side. You both get him to the boats.
Once everyone is on the ship Ed lays Izzy down. You remove the coat you're wearing to make a cushion for his head. Roach left immediately to get medical supplies.
Izzy looks up at you. There's a lot of blood and everything hurts, but still he sees you clearly. You're keeping pressure on the wound and giving out orders.
He smiles. He likes it when you're bossy.
You look down at him, tears welling up in your eyes. "Look at me, okay? Keep your eyes open. Don't you dare close them."
Izzy just smiles up at you.
"Why are you smiling?" You ask.
"Because you're beautiful," he says.
"Shut up. You're literally bleeding out," you say, but can't help but smile.
"I'm a lucky man."
You look at him, not sure what to say, but at least he was talking to you. You should keep him talking.
"Yeah?"
"Any man would kill to have a partner like you by their side. Especially in our line of work."
"You're getting sentimental..."
"I have that right, don't I? As a dying man."
"You're not going to die. I won't let you." You frown at him.
He continues to smile.
Roach returns with the stuff. You instruct him on exactly what to do. Izzy lays there and looks at you. His beautiful sparrow.
Eventually he passes out.
♡♡♡
Izzy wakes up feeling a horrid ache in his side. He inhales sharply, trying to get himself together before he opens his eyes properly. His mind is a little confused.
Something warm slips into his hand.
Izzy smiles.
His eyes open slowly and he turns his head to look at you. You're watching him closely. You lean forward when you see him wake. His smile brightens.
"Hello, love." His voice is hoarse.
You smile and let out a sigh. "You moron."
"You alright?" He asks.
"Me? I should be asking you that! Do you have any idea how worried I was about you? You passed out on me. I thought... I thought I lost you."
His smile fades as he gazes at you.
"I promised ya, didn't I? I'm never leavin' you again."
You lean over the bed and wrap your arms around him tight. You're careful of his wound. Izzy moves his arm so it wraps around you. He gives you a gentle squeeze.
"I'm sorry, love."
"I was so scared." You look up at him. "What would I do without you?"
He offers you a gentle smile, caressing your cheek gently with his finger. "I don't know. But I do know I'm one lucky man."
You laugh softly. "You already said that."
"I've been shot twice. Both times I've had you nurse me back to health. I'm very lucky." His gaze on you is full of fondness.
"I love you."
He pulls you closer and kisses you. It's slightly desperate, well needed.
"I love you too."
♡♡♡
Lucius and Pete just got married. Despite needing as much rest as he could get, Izzy insisted on being there to watch. It was lovely.
The crew cheer as they kiss.
You smile and look at Izzy. He smiles at you. "Maybe we should try that," he says.
"Try what?" You ask.
He shrugs lightly. "Marrying."
Your expression softens. "Is that a joke?" You ask, not entirely certain.
He shrugs again.
"You thought about it?" You ask.
"It's crossed my mind."
You smile softly. "Guess we'll see what the future holds."
His hand finds yours.
♡♡♡
Ed and Stede stood on the shore. On the horizon The Revenge sails away. The two watch their friends go, leaving them behind. Behind them was a run down building. They hoped to turn it into an inn.
The crew of The Revenge promised they'd be back someday, but they had a mission of their own.
The Revenge was under new command.
Captain Izzy Hands. His first mate, you.
There was a prince that needed hunting down. The Revenge would live up to it's name.
A calm came over the ocean. Like everything was how it should be.
Edward Teach knew deep down everything would be okay. The ship was in good hands and the crew would thrive.
Izzy Hands would thrive. He would live. He has everything to live for. He has you to live for. Just like how Ed had Stede.
Good luck to anyone who tried to mess with the unicorn and his sparrow. They were not people you should trifle with.
Izzy Hands is happy. Happy and in love

Izzy-Misunderstanding Ed-Apologist: Ugh, I hate it when people ignore all of a character's flaws and demonize their victims.
Normal Person: Oh man, I hate that. What's this about?
IMEA: So there's this character called Izzy, and he's constantly abusing Ed, but people keep taking Ed's actions out of context and blaming Ed.
NP: What did Ed do?
IMEA: He forced Izzy to eat his own toe, well, toes, but—
NP: WHAT
IMEA: No, let me finish! I was saying he only didn't it because Izzy threatened to kill him if he wasn't a tough pirate.
NP: I...I guess that makes sense if they're pirates. He didn't have a lot of other options.
IMEA: It was such a messed up scene. Izzy said he should have let the English kill him, Ed had better watch his step, and that he'd only serve Blackbeard.
NP: So this Blackbeard guy was Izzy's boss?
IMEA: Ed's Blackbeard. Well, Izzy FORCES him to be Blackbeard.
NP: Ed's...Izzy's boss? Why didn't he just fire the guy?
IMEA: Izzy might have come back and hurt him!
NP: Well, I guess it's better than killing him? Feed Izzy his own toe so he's so scared he never comes back to hurt him.
IMEA: Oh Izzy's still there.
NP: Wait, he's keeping this guy around? Like, in the brig?
IMEA: Izzy is Ed's first mate.
NP: ...Ed was so scared of this guy he forced him to eat his own toes to keep him at bay, but he still acts as second in command?
IMEA: He had no other choice! Remember, Izzy threatened to kill him!
NP: Okay, so why didn't Ed kill him?
IMEA: Ed doesn't kill. Except for the time with the fire and when he steered the ship into a storm and killed most of his crew and everyone he killed in S2.
NP: Couldn't he have the crew kill Izzy?
IMEA: It's Izzy's fault his relationship with the crew is so bad! Izzy made him fell so unsafe that poor Ed went on a brutal, murderous rampage across the ocean, driving his crew to the brink. And then Izzy, who was ultimately responsible, had the gall to whine about the atmosphere on the ship and the crew being stretched thin, like it wasn't all his fault.
NP:...
IMEA: Frankly I think Ed feeding him his own toes and shooting his leg off was reclaiming his agency.

WEAPONS USED BY the Israel Defense Forces, security cabinet leaks, and stories about people held hostage by Hamas — these are some of the eight subjects the media are forbidden from reporting in Israel, according to a document obtained by The Intercept. The document, a censorship order issued by the Israeli military to the media as part of its war on Hamas, has not been previously reported. The memo, written in English, was an unusual move for the IDF’s censor, which has been part of the Israel military for more than seven decades. “I haven’t ever seen instructions like this sent from the censor aside from general notices broadly telling outlets to comply, and even then it was only sent to certain people,” said Michael Omer-Man, a former editor-in-chief of the Israel’s +972 Magazine and today the director of research for Israel–Palestine at Democracy in the Arab World Now, or DAWN, a U.S. advocacy group. Titled “Operation ‘Swords of Iron’ Israeli Chief Censor Directive to the Media,” the order is not dated, but its reference to Operation Swords of Iron — the name of Israel’s current military operation in Gaza — makes clear that it was issued sometime after Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel. The order is signed by the chief censor of the Israel Defense Forces, Brig. Gen. Kobi Mandelblit. (The Israeli Military Censor did not respond to a request for comment on the memo.)
[...]
The order enumerates eight topics the media are forbidden from reporting on without prior approval from the Israeli Military Censor. Some of the topics touch on hot-button political issues in Israel and internationally, such as potentially embarrassing revelations about weapons used by Israel or captured by Hamas, discussions of security cabinet meetings, and the Israeli hostages in Gaza — an issue that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been widely criticized for mishandling. The memo also bans reporting on details of military operations, Israeli intelligence, rocket attacks that hit sensitive locations in Israel, cyberattacks, and visits by senior military officials to the battlefield.
[...]
“In order to get a visa as a journalist, you have to get approval from GPO” — Government Press Office — “and therefore you have to sign a document that says you will comply with the censor,” said Omer-Man. “That in itself is probably against the ethics guidelines at a bunch of papers.” Nonetheless, many journalists do sign the document. While The Associated Press, for instance, didn’t respond to The Intercept’s query about whether it cooperates with the military censor, the news wire has in the past reported on the issue, including admitting that it holds itself to the directive. “The Associated Press has agreed, like other organizations, to abide by the rules of the censor, which is a condition for receiving permission to operate as a media organization in Israel,” the agency wrote in a 2006 story. “Reporters are expected to censor themselves and not report any of the forbidden material.”

Translating this thread on twitter because I feel like a lot of people need to read it.
It's pretty long though...
"Warning: contructive opnion/criticism about the qsmp!!!!
note: nothing here is hate to the ccs/adms, please dont bother me
The english in the qsmp is dull.
I have been noticing this for a while and, talking to my non-english speaker friends (unlike myself), some have already distanced themselves from the server content because of this.
the idea of the qsmp is a global server, but this shouldn't be based soly in their nationality, but also the languages spoken in the server. And recently all we've seen is english being spoken 24/7, and of course this comes from the ease of comunicstion and speed, but we have a PERFECTLY good translator for that.
what frustated me more recently in purgatory was that, despite brigging AMAZING dynamics between the players, it reduced completely the spoken languages to english again. Because of the mini-events and distance that the creators are from each other, making the tool of amazing and automatic translation useless since it doesnt translate from a distance. And don't get me wrong, even quackity himself said he noticed he was doing more lives in english because of the "nature of the event".
When the owner of the server says this you see the problem.
anyway, second point, empanada
bagi is the pov I watch the most after my main (cellbit and morning crew) and, my god, how i LOVE this pov for being a brazillian that, for hanging out by herself, usually can speak portuguese. It's a relief. A breath of fresh air in the middle of english in weight [idk if this is a expression in english, but it means 'a lot'] from every direction
only for her to get an egg that doesn't speaks her language.
don't get me wrong, em is lovely and i'm VERY happy that niki will be able to speak german with her daughter. But at the same time, the language she does lives in is english. Just like all the other mothers.
Would it really be that hard to find an adm from a country that speaks portuguese? it doesn't even have to be brazillian. Portugal, Angola, Guiné-Bissau, Cabo Verde, Moçambique, even Macau.
I GUARANTEE you that there is a lot of people that speak portuguese that would join the QSMP team with a huge smile.
It's just dull to have a participant that came to represent the brazillian language and culture and speak portuguese 100% of the time in live because her daughter doesn't understand her language [I feel like this also goes for Ironmouse].
And I'm not saying necessarily for the creators, but for the people watching.
I started watching qsmp because of the brazillian streamers that I like, obviously, but also because I LOVE the server's idea, the cultural exchange and the linguistic trade.
The language is the main aspect of any culture and the linguistic erasure >CURRENTLY< in the qsmp makes me sad.
I was watching the old vods and it's weird to notice that — at least the brazillians— used to speak more portuguese when the translator was worse than now that it works perfectly.
It's just a bit disappointing to see a project that was made to break linguistic barriers end up keeping them through the sovereignty of the english language.
(after that, I have NO issues with the cultural aspect. The cultural exchange is made with mastery.)"

🤢 Crying so hard they throw up. For Misha pretty pleaaseeeeeeee
I have repeatedly tried to write this prompt but Misha is pretty well insistent that he doesn't ever do that, so... here is my best shot
CW: dead body, unrepentant murderer POV, some blood and a knife, Misha is... a very strange man
-
"Why is your face like that?" Misha leans back against the bark of the tree as he speaks in Russian, watching his older brother with his head tipped to one side. There's dried blood on his face, but that's a problem for later, when they can dump the washrag somewhere hard to find.
Artyom leans over, hands on his thighs just above his knees, breathing in harsh, deep pants. His back is to the body lying on the ground, in a bright blue tarp. Not Misha's favorite choice, but beggars and choosers and all that shit.
Tyoma hitches in a breath, as if he'll spit, but when Misha jerks forward he freezes and then remembers and just stands slowly upright. "What? Why is my face like what?"
"All..." Misha waggles the knife around next to his own face, blood smeared on the blade. "White." Tyoma's eyes land on the knife, and then Misha grins. "And red. And green, now, a little. Why?"
Tyoma inhales through his nose. All around them the woods smell like pine trees and the heavy scent of decaying leaves. He keeps his back to the body. "Her name is Sandra," He says in English now, hands in his pockets.
"Whose name is?"
Tyoma looks over his shoulder - just for a second - at the body and then whips back around again. "Her. I have been talking all night to her. I was about to ask her to go out when I got back from the bathroom."
"Oh." Misha leans over, looking the dead woman's face over more closely. "Oh, da, I guess that is the girl, huh?" He shrugs, and his smile widens. "Oops."
"Oops?" Artyom groans, turning and walking over to him, grabbing him by the fabric of his shirt and shoving him back against the tree. Misha giggles, an oddly young sound, and lays the flat side of the knife against Tyoma's face on response. They both stand still, Misha breathing easily, Tyoma red and with glittering eyes. "Mishka-"
"Oops," Misha repeats, drawing the flat side of the knife down and smearing blood from Tyoma's cheekbone to his jaw. "We didn't go out to get dates, Tyoma, we went out to hang out together. Brothers-time, like when we were kids. And you spend all night talking to some bitch instead. I was upset. I didn't know it was her."
Tyoma sets his jaw and answers in English, still, refusing to be drawn back into their mother tongue. "You did. You waited until I left for just one minute and then you talk her outside and now this. You call me to help you with bodies, I come to help, and now this."
Misha's smile fades, eyes searching over his older brother's face. "Are you angry, Tyoma? With me? You cannot be angry. We talk about this, I hate when you are angry-"
"Then stop pissing me off!"
Tyoma shakes him, then groans and lets go, stomping away to stare down at the body on the tarp. He hitches in a breath, and Misha slowly moves forward, reaching out with his free hand to touch his brother's shoulder. "Artyoshka? Are you crying?"
"Nyet!" Tyoma rubs frantically at his eyes, shaking his head. "I, I only-... Mishka-... you can not kill every woman I speak to!"
"I won't. I will be more careful, I promise." Misha doesn't like Tyoma crying. It makes him feel uneasy, unsettled. Like an itch down his spine. "I promise, Artyoshka. Please, please don't cry. It bothers me."
"Oh, well." Tyoma at least laughs, bitter but it's still laughter. "How dare you be bothered by something I am doing, huh?" He lets out another shaky breath and then straightens up. "Let's finish this and get rid of her. Next time, you let me talk to someone if I want, Mishka, okay?"
"Next time," Misha says solemnly, then hesitates. "As long as you are not meant to be talking to me."
Tyoma laughs again, with even less humor. "Right. As long as I am not meant to be only ever looking at you."
Misha brightens, working to roll the body up in the tarp. Artyom falls into place beside him, although he never quite looks at the body itself. It's not like she mattered, the girl. Tyoma doesn't have time for dating anyway. They have too much to do, and the itch has been strong lately in Misha. He needs Tyoma to help him keep from killing, and then to clean up afterward when he can't stop himself any longer.
Who has time for dating?
"You look nice with blood on your face," Misha offers cheerfully, once they're tying the top and bottom of the tarp.
Tyoma blinks at him, looking baffled, the moon dappling light over his face as it shines down through the trees. ".. don't be so fucking weird, Mishka," He says, slipping back into Russian.
Misha giggles again, heads back for the shovel.

Steddyhands fic where Stede accidentally stabs Izzy after throwing gunpowder in his eyes and, since Izzy didn't kill Stede when he had the chance, he decides to let Izzy live. They get Roach to patch him up and then lock him in the brig (which is just the "non-humans" room). Izzy wakes up to Ed and Stede hovering over him and is confused to still be alive. Ed is like "what the fuck, man!?" and they have it out a little, although Izzy is still too out of it to really get into it. Izzy tells Stede he should have killed him and tries to get up and leave since, by the terms of the duel, he's banished, but he's too weak and Stede pushes him back down and tells him to stop being an idiot.
Izzy takes a while to recover, but he figures out how to unlock the door pretty quickly. He decides not to leave because he doesn't think he can get to a dinghy without being noticed in the state he's in, even though being stuck in a room with only Ed's passive-aggression and Stede's pity whenever they visit him for company is slowly driving him insane. One night, he hears heavy footsteps and yelling above him before everything goes silent. After a passionate debate with Doris, the goat, he sneaks above deck to see the entire crew tied up with English officers standing over them.
He manages to slit the throat of the officer standing guard by the door without being seen, and then catches Roach's eye. Roach gets what he's trying to say and causes a commotion, which allows Izzy to run up and cut Ed's bindings, and then the two of them go on to kill all their captors. Once they're safe, the entire crew is left staring at Izzy--shirtless, hair tousled, covered in blood--in amazement. Ed pats him on the back and says "Just like old times, huh?" and then Izzy snaps and starts screaming at him. Stede intervenes and they actually talk through all their issues. Izzy decides to stay, since they would all die without him and, though he'd never admit it, he cares about them. (Ed and Stede, at least. The rest can come later).

HEY I wouldn't care if you did a childhood friends part 2 with vinny.... (sorry about my terrible english)
vinny hong (aka our fav uchiha) x gn! reader
A/n: never apologize for trying, and honestly your english is great :3
also i didn't prof read this, excuse any mistakes pretty please. 🙏🙏
✓𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨 part. 2
Part. 1, Part. 3, Part. 4
it was late, the sun was already setting and you were coming back from your part time job. as you were walking without a care in the world you don't see a car coming your way, luckily the driver sees you and honks his horn at you, that takes you out of your trance. vinny is cycling as usual on the side of the street when he hears a loud noise. he checks what's going on with his gaze and when he does so he sees you walking to the sidewalk. he get's a little scared and insecure when he thinks of talking to you. maybe you don't want to be his friend anymore, maybe you found him rude for not remembering you or something. vinny is already thinking the worst, but he doesn't brig himself to stop pedaling towards you, ignoring the feeling of his heart beating in his throat. you reached for him in that park he should at least give you your picture back, right? he thinks, in a attempt to calm his nerves.
vinny makes him mind and reaches for you. he calls you "y/n?" voice sounding much more small that he would like. he stops the bike when you turn around, and the look on you face makes him feel unworthy of it. the pure joy in your eyes and the bright smile on your face brings him back to when you two were little. it's the same smile, he thinks, fighting the small urge to hug you right there."wanna grab something to eat and chat?" "make up for the lost time, y'know" you joke. your casualty warms him inside, and in that moment vinny cannot stop the smile that pops up on his face. he doesn't even try to hide it. now he realizes that he can have you back. that he have the chance to hug and laugh and do everything with you again... like the old days...
vinny decides he won't let this chance slide, so he puts his feet on the pedal and says "yeah let's go..." "i know a place with good food."
Tumblr media
(i'm loving doing these. i'm always on my vinny brain rot so is easy to write, although is kinda short haha. anyways,, ENJOY <33)

The splatters from the other page practically begged me to make them into some of Brigid’s freckles.
Brighid/Brig is an ancient Irish goddess associated with fire, among other things, and renowned with many blessings from protection to poetry. The most ancient surviving texts recounting her to this day describe her having two sisters of the same name, Brighid the Smith, associated with metalworks in both weaponry and jewelry, and Brighid the Healer, associated with herbalism and song. This has led to Brighid being hailed as a Triple Goddess in her ancient form. ☘️
Indeed the triplicate of Brigid seems to have transformed along with the Irish diaspora following Catholicism and English oppression. St. Brighid appeared in Ireland under the rule of the Catholic Church, most likely another example of Christianizing pagan figures as seen cross culturally. The Feast of St. Brighid coincides with the ancient Celtic pagan late winter festival of Imbolc on the first of February after all.
Among the African diaspora in the Caribbean, where English colonists sent both enslaved Africans and indentured Irish servants to work sugar and other plantations, revered loa of the Voudun pantheon from West Africa were famously hidden within icons of Catholic saints. It is within this particular tradition that Mama Brigitte is found with her flaming red hair, having been married into the Ghede Spirit family to Baron Samedi, syncretized with St. Brighid. Her feast day varies among Vodouisants from coinciding with Imbolc or All Saints Day, which is also when Dia de los Muertos (as a result of the colonial church) is on November 2nd. Still many acknowledge that Mama Brigette came from Ireland. With this consideration of the origins of Samedi’s bride, their union is representative of the legacy of Irish and African history under European colonial exploitations- we Irish descendants practicing paganism today may do well to remember this manifestation of blessed, vibrant, poetic, protective Brighid’s triplicity in solidarity against the exploitations of empires that go on to this day. ❤️‍🔥

something else: I've seen people be mad that Ed is released into Izzy's custody in 1x09, and I don't... get that?
Izzy had to make a deal so airtight there was no risk to Edward. He may not be particularly manipulative, but he's smart enough to be wary of the fine print and pick wording and agreements that won't risk Edward's life
For example: "Edward goes free" I'm reminded of that scene in Pirates of the Caribbean, where they agree to let Elizabeth go free and drop her into the ocean by a tiny island.
Freedom is subjective.
"Edward is pardoned" can be interpreted in many ways. Pardoned of killing Nigel, since he confessed? Pardoned for his father? Pardoned posthumously? Also, worth noting is that I think only the king can issue a pardon? Not something Chauncey could agree to.
Which leaves us to: handed over to Izzy's custody.
Sure, the English might be assuming that this means Izzy gets his grubby little mits on Edward to do whatever nasty thing he wands with him, because that's what they'd do, because they're bastards, but in actuality 'custody' means not only imprisonment but also protection.
Tumblr media
"the protective care or guardianship of someone or something"
The precise wording Chauncey uses is: "But a friend of the crown has prevailed upon me to remand you to his custody. You shall be released to Captain Hands, in exchange for his service to the King."
The English probably assume, being who they are and how they feel about pirates, that Izzy intends to do something icky with Edward, but I don't think that's true.
As I've said before, last time in reference to the 'namby-pamby' line: when you write, words mean something. Writers deliberately choose the terms they use when they use them. It's not like people in real life who just say whatever the heck half the time, it's deliberate.
To me, the word released is what matters here. Edward is being released back to Izzy, back to their life before. The 'Captain Hands' line is highly likely to be because the only way Izzy could convince him was to imply Edward would be his subordinate. He becomes captain of the Revenge in 1x09 because Edward isn't there, but the second Edward sets foot back on the Revenge?
Edward is captain again.
Edward knows it. Izzy knows it.
Even the rest of the crew (soon-to-be captain Oluwande, for example) know that Edward is captain.
If the plan had been to hand Edward over to be put in the brig and done fiendish things to, Edward was vulnerable enough when he came back in 1x10 that Izzy could have done that. Edward assumes that he'll be captain again and by not challenging it (something like, "You can't just come back in here and pretend our places haven't changed!" or whatever), Izzy shows that his plan the whole time was to put Edward back where he belonged: as Captain.
He just had to get that past the English first.
Izzy's tizzy in 1x10 might read solely as him bitching about not wanting to serve him anymore, but it's actually a continued confirmation that he is serving him. He might be having a problem with the Ed version of Edward Teach (as we've discussed at length in the past, so I'm not going back over it rn) but he's still saying, repeatedly, that he serves Blackbeard.
If Izzy had aaaaaany intention of retaining his captaincy once Edward was back on board, that conversation would have gone a little differently. He would have been saying Edward couldn't swan back in, acting like he is, and taking his ship out from under him.
Hell, the Revenge isn't even Edward's ship. If he had been intending on it, Izzy would be well within his rights to argue his side of possession of the Revenge, which is Stede's ship. Stede never gave custody of that ship to Ed or Izzy or anyone else. Izzy has as much a claim to it as Ed does. Potentially more, if he stole it fairly via the English. He could have argued that.
But he didn't.
Edward is his captain, Blackbeard is his captain. Izzy likes being first mate. He likes being a guiding hand and a logical voice when Edward goes too far. He is, quite literally, Edward's hands. He isn't a captain and he knows that. He excels at being a first mate, at carrying out his captain's orders.
And, more than that, if you rewatch the end of 1x04?
He doesn't actually want to take over from Ed. He's very flattered because Ed just waxed poetic about how Izzy knows his stuff, and maybe a little turned on from the back slap idk, but he isn't into the idea of Ed being elsewhere or him taking over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is completely torn because Ed just came up with a fantastic plan!
But he doesn't want the final steps of it.
I imagine that if Ed or Izzy had actually killed Stede, there would have been some kind of event that had Izzy staying by Ed's side. Or, maybe he figures Ed would eventually come crawling back anyway, not content in a life of boring luxury surrounded by pompous aristocrats he'll never fit in with.
He focuses on the fact Ed has a plan, and the fact when he says Ed still has it, Ed smiles and bows, because that's so good (if it wasn't a total fabrication) and Ed is seeming like himself again! Plans! Excitement!
But look
Tumblr media
That is not the face of someone purely thrilled and looking forward to his own captaincy. Far from it.
Closing thoughts: if you think Izzy had some deep, sinister, fiendish plan beyond "get Ed away from that fucking asshole Stede Bonnet who is ruining him" (which, again, Stede agrees with the notion of) you haven't paid much attention to Izzy at all.
He may be an angry li'l fuck, but he's an angry li'l fuck who honestly wears his heart on his sleeve. I've seen people call him a liar and I'm-- not sure when he lies, actually? Maybe the part where he says Stede knew who his boss was? But even then I'm not convinced because everyone knew who his boss was so why wouldn't Stede?
But aside from that one possible moment, Izzy does nothing but yell his truth at anyone who will listen (Ed. He yells it at Ed.) and that means that at the end of the day if his plan had been to have Ed under his thumb in some kind of weird prisoner capacity or to be the captain forever even when Ed came back?
We'd know about it from his dialogue by now, because he would've bitched Ed out for coming back.

It would appear that the Revenge does have a brig. The English had Ed there at the beginning of 109
Tumblr media
And yet when the Revenge crew had hostages they decided to just tie them to the mast for funsies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And apparently could have left them locked up on the ship but instead decided to take them out for a little vacation.
Tumblr media
Then left the remaining hostage tied up to cook for days. And Stede's suggestion was just to hold a jacket over his head.
Tumblr media
Granted some of the crew members were actively enjoying torturing the hostages. But the rest of them just collectively went *shrugs* this seems fine

Hello! I hope this ask isn’t annoying but Swiss person here with fam from the same region as Nico!
To elaborate on some things a prev ask said: Nico is from Brig which is still part of the (Swiss) German part of Wallis/Valais, but as soon as you go a bit further west (Sion + Sierre) they speak French, so Hisch’s two languages would be Swiss German + French! Technically speaking Swiss people also have to learn German because there’s not actually a standardized spelling for Swiss German because each canton has their own dialect, so we learn German + a second language (mostly French unless it’s like Graubünden that tends towards Italian) on top of Swiss German, kind of.
Walliser (Swiss) German IS! Notoriously difficult for non-wallis people to understand. It’s very melodic and borrows a lot from French, and just kind of pronounces things differently than anyone else? It’s kinda hard to explain, but I think it’s very nice to listen to, it’s very musical. Imo nino niederreiter is harder to understand than Nico because now that guy has one of the thickest Bünder dialects I’ve ever heard.
-> https://youtu.be/AyXXCPxq3r4 this is a fun if longer interview of baby hisch speaking a lot of Swiss German that I’m very fond of
-> https://youtu.be/Ch9occS-7ME also love this one of him touring the locker room in Swiss German to very confused teammates id imagine.
This is such a long ask but I love talking about our Swiss German guys. Hope this clears some things up??
Keep up the writing! 🥰
I cannot even express HOW happy I am that you are here!!!!! I have been hoping a Swiss person would come into my asks and share all their knowledge with us 🥰 Thank you so much! Also, apologies in advance that google translate only has High German to translate.. for Nico, Timo, AND Kevin... but I do what I can as an English only speaker 😘
You can always come and speak with me about our Swiss German babies. I love the insight into the different dialects and styles and the educational background. It's so different than my experiences here in the U.S.! I wish we were pushed to learn other languages, but the education system, where I am from at least, didn't. It isn't until your later teen years that they encourage you to dive into other languages, which we all know is entirely too late for it to stick.
OMG NINO!!!!! Ugh, still miss him with the Wild. Our precious baby that we were not ready to see go 😭 I'm very curious, what does Kevin Fiala sound like to you? Idk how his Czech and then later Swedish influence alter his dialect and language? So curious of your perspective!
Ah! Again, I'm just so thrilled you stopped by! Please continue to share your insights and I hope you don't mind, but you're being branded as a Lady Looch anon!
