Swerving Down a Backroad Away from the Police (Noco Oneshot)

Was driving at the age of eighteen with seven passengers in the car in Canada legal?

No.

Was driving at all under the age of eighteen in Canada legal?

No.

What was Noah doing?

Seventeen years old, one of seven passengers in the car, 10 at night, swerving down a backroad away from the police.

How did he get here?

“LORD HELP ME!” Duncan shouted, jumping in the front seat of Eva’s sister’s van, dropping a backpack full of alcohol into Eva’s lap.

“What the fuck, Duncan?” Eva asked.

“SHUT UP AND LET ME DRIVE!”

Duncan hit the gas and started driving out of the parking lot.

“What happened?” Trent asked, holding onto the car door handle on the right side of the car as Duncan turned onto the road.

“I didn’t know there were police right outside! I usually get away with this!”

“He stole beer and… other stuff,” Eva said, making a disgusted face aimed at the bag.

“Ooh! Sounds fun! I haven’t been in a police chase in a while!” Izzy exclaimed happily, leaning forward onto the central console.

“I hope Eva’s sister isn’t mad we stole her car,” Owen added, peeking up over Izzy to look at Eva.

Eva clutched her brow. “I’m so gonna get grounded.”

“Well I’m gonna get arrested and you are too, you’re accomplices now,” Duncan yelled.

“Fuck you Duncan,” Gwen began, leaning over a now smiling Cody in the backseat to get a better look at Duncan. “You did not have to drag us into this.”

“If I get anything on my record, I’m going to be very mad,” Noah stated, arms and legs crossed.

“Well what are you going to do about it?” Duncan asked.

“Go faster,” Izzy suggested.

“Sounds fun.” Duncan smirked, taking a sharp left.

Cody’s shoulder smashed into Noah’s.

“Ow,” Noah deadpanned.

“Sorry,” Cody apologized.

“Did you ever take driver’s ed, Duncan?” Noah questioned.

“I got a D+,” Duncan grinned, taking another sharp turn on the windy road that they were on, trying to throw off the cop car now following.

Cody grabbed Noah and Gwen's legs to avoid crashing into anyone. Noah tensed up and his heart skipped a beat.

“Sorry again,” Cody repeated.

“Not a problem,” Noah articulated.

It was about this time Noah realized.

With all this extra speed, Noah was now pressed flush against Cody. Cody was holding onto him for dear life.

Noah began to feel hot.

Noah already knew. He knew he liked Cody for a little while now. He knew both Gwen and Owen, who were both in the car, knew he knew. He knew Izzy knew before he did. He knew Gwen was looking at him.

Noah looked at her.

She smirked at him, glancing between him and a blissfully unaware Cody with a clenched jaw.

Noah turned back to facing forward, and just wondered when Izzy and Owen would take a peek in the backseat.

And at this point he noticed everyone was shouting.

“So, are we going to just be okay with the fact that Duncan just came in and decided we were all going to die?” Gwen asked.

“I mean, what choice do we have?” Trent asked. “The deal's been done.”

“Unless you have anything to say about it. I'm talking to both of you nerds in the backseat.”

Owen turned around.

Cody was currently wincing at the latest turn, which shoved him harshly onto Noah's side.

Noah didn't know if this was the correct moment to get butterflies in his stomach, but the universe decided it was.

Owen wiggled his eyebrows, and Noah cringed. All he could do was hope Cody didn't see.

“This is bullshit,” Eva stated, picking up her phone. “I’m calling my sister.”

Duncan started shouting about something, but Noah tuned it out. He looked over to Cody, who had moved his hand from Noah’s leg to clench his sleeve, and pulled on it as they took a right turn, falling onto Gwen’s side of the car.

At this point, Cody was clutching Noah’s wrist. Noah couldn’t focus. His head was pounding not only from Cody but also from the driving. His heart was beating quickly not only from the driving but from Cody.

Noah thought he was bold in his head.

He grabbed Cody’s hand.

A thousand sparks rushed through his body.

God, I’m pathetic, he thought to himself.

Noah was never fond of romance as a child. He thought everyone involved was weak. Or stupid. In most cases, both. He was pretty embarrassed that he ended up having a crush. His younger self would probably taunt him.

Maybe he was weak. Well, not maybe, he knew he was weak. He couldn’t run, never mind a ten-minute mile. Back to the topic- maybe he was stupid. This was most definitely pathetic. But he didn’t hate it.

Cody’s eyes were squeezed shut as they took a turn onto a dirt path. Noah heard screams of “JESUS CHRIST” and “DUNCAN WHAT THE FUCK” but he was preoccupied.

He was holding Cody’s hand.

While crashing through the woods being chased by police.

But a win’s a win.

“Did we lose them?” Noah heard Duncan ask.

Noah turned behind them as they began to drive a little less violently.

“I think so?” Noah replied.

“Did they get the plate?” Trent asked. “Eva could be in big trouble.”

“It’s way too dark and we were way too far ahead for them to see anything,” Gwen responded.

Duncan sighed, parking the car at the end of the dirt road.

Eva actually put the setting in park.

The car unloaded, Owen threw up somewhere, and Noah leaned against a tree with Eva and Izzy.

“So, did you call your sister and tell her about the whole ordeal?” Noah asked.

“Yeah. We yelled about that for like, an entire minute. You really didn’t catch it?” Eva asked.

“No, he was too busy making googly-eyes at Cody,” Izzy smiled.

“No I wasn’t!”

“Yes you were.”

“Not.”

“Were.”

“Was not.”

“Were were were were were were were were were were were were were were were!”

“Uh, I can break this tie,” Trent began, leaning over to the group. “He totally did.”

Noah stopped as Trent walked back away. “I have no comment.”

Eva snickered. “Pathetic.”

Noah facepalmed. “I know.”

“Well hey,” Eva smiled, “I don’t know. Maybe you have a chance. When he isn’t all Gwen it seems like he’s pretty into you.”

“He’s into Gwen.”

“He could be into you too.” Eva shrugged. “Now I gotta tell my sister where we actually are so she can drive us home. I figure Duncan’s already gone before we can actually do anything about it. See you guys.”

She walked off a bit farther, and Noah looked around. She was right- Duncan was gone. But Noah wasn’t going to call the police. If Eva’s sister wanted to do that, she could. Noah didn’t care enough.

Izzy smirked. “So, gonna go talk to Cody?”

Noah glanced over his shoulder to see Cody talking with Gwen.

“Nah. Maybe later.”

“If you say so,” Izzy smiled, and skipped off to find Owen.

IZZY DEATH LORE WITH ART!

Izzy wanted to go to he forest, she kept asking everyone. She was rejected and rejected over and over again. Then Eva told her she’ll meet her in the forest soon. Eva knew Izzy was tough she knew that Izzy could beat the killer up. So for now she just needed to calm Cody and Duncan down, they kept fighting because of Cody’s anger at Duncan over Noah’s death.

Izzy walked into the forest, she loved the smell of nature. Izzy walked to her spot and started climbing, she felt free from this horrible existence. It was her escape. Other than the one girl that could handle her on the island. Izzy was swinging on a vine, she heard footsteps. Izzy thought Eva must’ve came and yelled.

“EVA! COME ON LOOK AT ME!”

She didn’t even bother to see who came, she just started swinging. She heard a deep voice mumble something, so she decided to finally see who came. It wasn’t Eva. It was the killer. Izzy was surprised, not scared just surprised. She didn’t have enough time to react before an arrow came and hit her eye. She let go of the vine and fell onto a branch than the ground causing her to scrape her elbow. She fell to the ground and held her eye. She couldn’t get up in time before the killer choked her, not to death but enough to weaken the agile girl.

Izzy just needed to catch her breathe! That’s it! Just a minute!

The killer looked at Izzy as he grabbed a snake and cut it in half, then grabbed Izzy’s arm and did the same. Izzy was surprised. She screamed as he cut her arm off. A second time she was deceived. What a shame. The killer slowly sewed the snake to Izzy’s arm, leading Izzy to have a snake for a arm now. She couldn’t control her own arm. It was agonizing, the pain she felt as the snake was being attached to her. Oh but the killer wasn’t done with poor izzy, he knew the girl was loud so he decided to shut her up for good. He sewed half of the girls mouth shut, keeping the other side open so izzy will forever be in pain everytime she try’s to show emotion.

The killer left her there, but oh his plan wasn’t finished. Snakes came from all corners and attacked izzy, they thought that izzy hurt their friend. She looked horrified, but she knew that accepting death was her only option. Her face was numb, she can’t use one of her arms and she can’t even get up. She knew that this wasn’t her fairy tale, it was her horror story.

Eva quickly paced through the woods, she knew where Izzy’s spot was like it was her own home. She’s been there a lot with Izzy, Izzy almost started calling it their spot. Eva reached the spot and looked up, she wasn’t there. Surprising, Eva Glace down to see Izzy, or whatever monster was created with body. She looked down at the girl, her beautiful face ruined with stitches and her arm replaced with a snake. Eva ran to Izzy and started getting the snakes away from her, one by one Eva threw them off of Izzy. She soon finished and jumped to Izzy, her body was covered in snake bites. Eva started yelling for help as she started tearing up.

“No no no! Come on Izzy stay with me. Their coming ok? We said we’d get out together! Come on we can do this!” Eva yelled as she started crying, it hurt her to see her lover like this. It hurt her deeply.

Izzy used whatever strength she had left to lift her hand up to Eva’s face, she smiled at the girl. Izzy looked calm, relaxed.

“We both know I’m not gonna make it. If I do die, put me In our spot.” Izzy smiles at Eva, she knew she was ready to go either, she was young she had years ahead of her but now it’s all gone.

Eva nodded, she couldn’t admit that Izzy was dying. She didn’t wanna believe it.

“But Christmas! We promised-“

“I’ll be with you there, take my bracelet, that way all always be with you. I love you Eva.”

Eva started sobbing as Izzy slowly closed her eyes, her breathing stopped. Eva was just sobbing she had no words. She always wondered why Cody was so mad at Duncan over Noah’s death, she knew that Cody liked him but she didn’t know that you would care that much. But now she does. She now understands Cody’s pain. No wonder he wanted Duncan dead.

Cody heard screaming so he ran into the forest, he looked to see Eva sobbing over Izzy’s body, he could believe that izzy, the girl who had more skill then any of the campers combined died. He walked up to Eva and just hugged her, he didn’t know what else to do. Eva just sat there staring at Izzy’s body.

“Hey did she have any requests? Or like a note? I remember Noah had one so maybe she does.” Cody spoke, he still flinches saying Noah’s name.

“Yeah uh can you help me put her up there?” Eva pointed at a place in the tree.

“Sure, I’ll get her legs and you get her head”

Eva and Cody grabbed the lifeless girl and placed her up in the tree, forever in her favourite spot.

Eva and Cody walked back to camp, Eva just went straight to her bunk leaving Cody to explain and tell them about Izzy.

Now, if you come into her territory she’ll present you with a deal, your right ear for your life. If you give her your ear she’ll let you go, only with a snake bite which is a painless death. If you don’t. The snakes will get you. They’ll kill you with brutal force, then Izzy will hang you up as her new ornament. It’s her vengeance, her dreams were crushed by a killer, so she’ll crush others dreams too, whether Christmas with your lover or becoming famous. She’ll hang you up waiting for Eva to return so they can have their Christmas together.

Did these up yesterday! I know it's kinda odd including four ships that involve the same bloke in the head-cannon/ shitposts. But I figured it'd be worth it! These are traces from the actual show, with expressions changed up, so it could look a bit more romantic.

The Noah and Bridgette (nodgette) shot is from Bridgette's elimination episode from World Tour, when Noah tries to give her a hug, which goes over poorly. It was that bit that actually made me ship these two, which I think is kinda rad.

The Noah and Eva (Nova??? Is there even a ship name for these two?) is from the between Island and Action special. Probably watching Izzy do something completely mental. I don't, admittedly, really watch island or action. But I'm a big fan of Eva, so, fair is fair.

The Noah and Sierra (Noerra) shot comes from the second episode of WT, when Sierra is going on and on about being a 5th/? generation basket waiver. I've always kind of had mixed feelings on Sierra, I just think her stalker schtick got kind of old. So, I think having her get with Noah, rather than Cody, would be really fucking funny.

Noah and Izzy (Nizzy.. Kinda sounds like a slur) came from... I don't remember which episode, but it was the german one, where Noah mocks Cody's team for having a 'tiny sausage' which could absolutely just be a dick joke. I adore the idea of Noah just tolerating Izzy (Kind of like he does with Owen.) but somewhere along the line, the two become really close. And the next thing you know, sparks.

This last one was made by my brother, the reason I actually did these ones! Think of this as a commision. Not much to say, aside from it's my banner. Might make this an actual fanfiction, idk yet.

Hi. I was going to do a Danganronpa x Total Drama AU, but 'the final killing game' style. However I'm not finding the backgrounds I want for this and it annoyed me enough to just,,, give up on the project altogether.

Anyway, here are the NG I was going to use for it, in case someone wants some ideas (and the reasoning behind them)

For more context, this is supposed to take place right after TDWT. TDROTI didn't happen.

Noah - Passing the Fourth time Limit with Owen Alive (Noah and Owen's friendship has developed during TDWT ; despite his personality, I strongly believe Noah would not put Owen in danger for his own life. I also needed him to not be in the same group as Owen and Eva, given that he was going to be one of the few trying to puzzle out what was going on)

Owen - Putting Food in Your Mouth (Is self-explanatory ; This guy can not survive without food and it would be literally impossible for him to not eat if said food happen to be in close proximity)

Izzy - Being in the Same Room With a Corpse (It literally kills her from the start, which was the whole point ; I also think is fitting for her, given her personality)

Eva - Opening Doors (I can just imagine her getting so mad over it ; Is also the only one able to bypass this NG as she's strong enough to just punch her way through the walls)

Duncan - Going 5 seconds without being seen by another contestant. Time Outs don't count (No one would really want to stay near Duncan, given all he has done during TDWT ; many will think he's the killer because of his personality)

Harold - Answering a Question (That would be an easy NG for anyone BUT him. Harold's a walking Wikipedia, it will be hard for him to not answer any questions)

DJ - Witnessing Violence by Participants (Given his personality this NG makes the most sense for him ; The character that died in the anime with this NG makes me think of DJ, which influenced my decision)

Trent - Opening Left Hand (I wanted to add this NG, that's literally all)

Beth - Running (Also somebody has to have this NG too you know)

Cody - Can't Touch Or Be Touched By Anyone (My AU does not include Sierra or Alejandro due to the injuries they got during TDWT, otherwise Cody would be dead in the first seconds of the game ; I just think it fits for his character and is funny)

Gwen - Revealing Your NG (Which would make everyone suspicious of her.)

Heather - Getting Accused of Murder (I think at least one person would accuse her of killing someone, being as disliked as she was. I just needed her to not group up with anyone, as she's also one of the few trying to puzzle what was going on)

Sadie - Being in the Same Room With Katie (You can tell I wanted to get rid of her fast, as I had no plot planned for her)

Katie - Being in the Same Room With Sadie (Same as Sadie)

Ezekiel - Talking (It can go both ways ; In my AU he talks, as he's confused by his NG. It doesn't need to be this way. You guys can keep him alive if you want)

Bridgette - Witnessing Someone Cry (Again, I think this is fitting given her character. In my AU she was also one of the firsts to die, thanks to Owen)

Courtney - Giving Orders (Fitting, given her character)

Justin - Looking in Any Reflective Object/Seeing Your Own Reflection (I think it would be a challenge for Justin to not see his reflection, but not one he would be unable to overcome)

Tyler - Laying or Sitting Down (Which is torture, given that he's tripping over his own feet more often than not. Again, I saw it fitting given his character)

Before anyone comments about it, Leshawna, Lindsay and Geoff are not here because I couldn't come up with a good NG for them. I was thinking something along the lines of 'Using the Wrong Name' for Lindsay, but the phrasing of the NG gave me enough problems to just give up on it (Basically she would die if she used the wrong name when addressing someone, but I don't know how to phrase it to sound good and make sense).

Sierra and Alejandro are not part of this due to the injuries they got during TDWT. Is canon that Alejandro has been stuck in a robot up until All Stars and, in my opinion, Sierra would not have enough time to be fully healed by the time this 'new season' takes place.

In my version of the AU Chris IS NOT the mastermind behind this, he's actually the first to die. It isn't until Izzy, Katie and Sadie die too that everyone actually believes everything is real and Chris isn't just fooling around (this dude died like at least two times during TDA, no one truly believes he's dead for real)

For more context, for those who has not watched Danganronpa 3, here's how things are supposed to work :

One person, known as the traitor or attacker, tries to murder the other participants, while the other participants attempt to identify the killer. Everyone does have a bangle on that they are forbidden to demage or remove (unless they want to die).

The rules are

Rule #1: The time limit. At two hour intervals, when the timer on the bangle runs out, a sleeping drug will be administered, putting all the participants to sleep.

Rule #2: The attacker/traitor. Whilst everyone is asleep, the attacker will wake up and have a certain amount of time to kill exactly one person. If no-one is killed in this time limit, then the other participants win the game.

An assumption developed by its participants is that, assuming the attacker can end the killing at this point, he/she can stop the game by choosing not to kill anyone within the time limit, thereby going undetected or placing the blame on someone else.

Rule #3: Forbidden actions, also known as NG Codes. On each person's bangle, there is a single action that the participant is not allowed to perform. If that action is performed, then a lethal dose of poison is administered. The poison will also be administered if the participants attempt to remove or tamper with their bangles.

Is also specified on the Wikipedia page that the NG code rule can be bypassed by severing the limb above the wrist at the risk of blood loss (yes the rules are copy-paste from the site so you guys don't get spoiled while researching for them)

The participants need to find the traitor and kill them to win the game.

Hola! I'm V and I'll be writing headcannons of any of the total drama characters... Or at least the characters in seasons I've watched so far. Though granted I will totally get some minor canon stuff wrong (i.e. pets and relatives) and will be switching things around personality wise because I've claimed all the characters and I get to throw them in the dishwasher with a bit too much soap and watch listen to them shake around until the dishwasher makes thudding noises.

Okay now I really need to see some Eva’s world stuff. Like rn. Cause they left too much blank in the show so I’m just making up things about those travelers:

Noabeth: was at post-apocalyptic world like work, takes vacations to other timelines (preferably 1920s), had baby Charlotte, gave her to Tannhaus, raised Silja, then went back to 1986 to be with their daughter until death.

Martha/Eva: spent time like working going to post-apocalyptic world once in a while, keep traveling and doing stuff while raising her kid with the help of older self and bunch of friends, had happy life until time came to fight with Adam.

Egon: sent Hannah back to 1950s to be with her and have Silja, already divorced (and cool with it), he raised Claudia with Doris coming over every few days, then learnt about time travel and got to spend the rest of his time with his children and grandchildren.

Bartosz&Silja: Bartosz sent back to 1888 to start base of Erit Lux, making travels between 1920s and 1890s until Silja came to be with him (after being raised 12 yrs by their son and daughter-in-law) spent their time great, never died in childbirth, Silja started the tavern, raised Noah and Agnes, left Winden to live at Marburg and stayed there until they were dead.

Agnes: grew up with caring parents and was left the tavern, growing up with the Unknown but felt more like cousins rather than husband & wife. Fell in love with Doris then brought her to live with her parents in Marburg.

Happy ending for (most) all of them!!!

A lot of Noah ships work because Noah has traits with someone's canonical love interest (Noah even shares traits with Owen and Izzy so Noah x Izzy and Nowen fit in this category) or is the canon relationship involving Noah (Nemma actually kinda works in TDRR). Then there's Noah x Eva, a pairing where one of them was given a love interest in a well written spin off and the characters have one episodes worth of interactions. I will defend Noah x Eva till my dying breathe despite the canon basis of this ship.

Cody, Noah, Izzy, Eva, and Owen were walking back from their English class and headed to homeroom. Noah was getting quite sick of Cody's blabbering, but put up with it.

“I mean, Cody's right, she is pretty hot,” Izzy stated, putting a hand on Noah's shoulder.

“What about me?” Owen asked.

“You're not hot, you're cute!”

“And me?” Eva asked.

“Oh, you're hot as fuck.”

Eva smirked and Owen rolled his eyes.

“Back to the topic,” Owen began. “I don't think Gwen is hot.”

“You're too gay to be a part of this conversation,” Noah joked. “But I agree.”

“I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself! I'm not gay!”

“Noah, you're gay too,” Izzy said. “Don't think I don't see you staring at Cody's ass.”

Noah had to take a moment to process that. Noah had never stared at Cody's ass. Except for that one time but that was once. “What?”

“I'm kidding,” Izzy reassured. “Sort of. You aren't in the ass-staring phase. Yet.”

“Izzy, I'm not into Cody.” Noah usually enjoyed Izzy's observations, he found them quite entertaining, but he found this one strange. Noah didn't like Cody. He thought he was cute, but not much more than that.

“I think Gwen is not hot, Cody is insane, and he's been quiet ever since Izzy started calling Noah gay,” Eva stated.

“Something bothering you, Cody?” Izzy asked, turning back to Cody.

“Oh no, nothing, I don't care. I just didn't know what to say,” Cody informed.

“Okay, we keep on getting off topic,” Izzy noted. “Cody, what are your sexual fantasies about Gwen?”

Cody's face erupted into flames. “WHAT?”

“Good lord, let's keep this PG,” Noah sighed.

“Okay… Cody, what are your non-sexual fantasies about Gwen?”

“I'm not sharing that information with you,” Cody said. “All you guys get to know is that I'm crazy about her.”

“Yeah. We already know. Let's move on,” Noah complained. “Personally, I think Gwen is a bitch and you should stop obsessing over her.”

“What makes Gwen a bitch?” Cody asked. “She's super nice.”

“Yeah, what gives Noah?" Izzy questioned.

Noah took a breath in. “Well for starters, the way she broke up with Trent was terrible. Then she went and kissed Duncan. You don't just do that.”

“Courtney and Duncan weren't even dating!” Cody exclaimed. “Everyone keeps treating her terribly for that as if it were her fault Courtney was crazy!”

“Yeah, but Courtney's her friend. You don't kiss your friend's ex.”

“That's true,” Eva responded.

“Well yeah, but everyone's entitled to a few mistakes,” Cody said.

“She made more than a few.” Noah folded his arms.

“You're just mad he's not into you,” Izzy accused.

“I'm not into him!”

The group walked into Ms. Andrew-O’Halloran's homeroom and sat down at their table just as the bell rang.

“Well, unlike Noah, I think Sierra's in her ass-staring phase,” Izzy stated, glancing over to Sierra’s table

“Please don't tell me these things,” Cody replied.

“Okay. Question. Are you in your ass-staring phase with Gwen?”

“No. I don't stare at girls' asses.”

“Respectful. Reasonable.” Eva nodded.

“Yeah, real respectful of me not to be as low as Sierra,” Cody said sarcastically.

After that, the group decided to talk and rather do their English homework. Noah was writing an essay about themes in the last play they’d read, Macbeth, he was getting distracted by his thoughts.

Why does Cody like Gwen so much? Noah wondered. I just don’t get it.

Noah truly believed Cody could do better. He was cute, but Noah believed not everybody saw Cody the way he did. Noah tended to only pay attention to appearances once he’d met a person. If he didn’t know someone, he wasn’t able to really tell his opinion on their appearance. Along with that, personality always seemed to taint his opinion just a little. He thought Heather was a little prettier when he’d first met her.

But what Cody also had to offer was his personality- he was clever, and loyal, and dedicated. He truly tried to make people happy, no matter who they were to him. He was open-minded that way.

Cody even treated Sierra nicely. If Noah was in Cody's shoes, he would've told Sierra to screw off first thing. But Cody was still nice to her.

Noah may not have finished his math homework, but he got to do some thinking.

Noah headed to his Spanish class and sat down in his regular spot next to Gwen. Believe him- it was not his decision. If it were up to him, Noah would be sitting alone or with Cody. But, unfortunately for him, his Spanish teacher was insane and gave them a seating chart in high school.

So, he just had to put up with Ezekiel behind him, Courtney at his table, Bridgette and Geoff making out in the back row, and Trent and Gwen always passing notes to each other behind the desks. All he got to do all class was give Cody, who sat next to Trent a row back, bored glances.

The last class had been dedicated to speaking assessments, which would be continuing all week. Noah had finished his packet yesterday right before his own assessment. Figuring there was nothing better to do, he simply watched Gwen over her shoulder while Cody's table was out for assessments.

After a minute or so, Gwen turned to face Noah. “What do you want?”

“Nothing,” Noah responded blandly.

“You clearly want something.”

“I'm just thinking.”

“About?” Gwen asked. Courtney had moved tables, sitting with her friends in another section of the classroom working on science.

“The fact that Cody likes you is crazy.”

Gwen gave Noah a confused look. “Huh?”

“Well, you know he likes you.”

“Yeah no duh. Why do you think it's crazy.”

“I think it's crazy because he could do better.”

Gwen seemed to be holding back a laugh. “Look, Noah, as much as I love Cody, not in that way by the way, I don't think he could score very high. I'm not hot stuff, but Cody is probably worse.”

“Yeah but his personality is definitely better.”

“What's that supposed to mean?”

“You know.”

“Are you talking about the thing with Duncan? Because it's not my fault Courtney's so insanely overprotective.”

“Courtney is your friend. Or at least she was. You could have treated her better.”

“Courtney sees me more like a statistic than a friend. That's how she treats all her friends, if you haven't noticed.”

Noah shrugged. “Either way, Cody is better than you. At least he's loyal.”

“I don't know if you're trying to make me mad, but it's not gonna work.”

“I'm not.”

“Then what are you doing?”

“Just saying.”

Gwen smirked. “You just wanted an excuse to talk about Cody, didn't you?”

Noah felt heat rise to his cheeks in embarrassment. “No. I just wanted to call you out.”

“Oh come on Noah, you aren't fooling anyone. You just went on a rant about how he could 'do better'. That's basically code for telling others you have a crush on someone.”

“Is not!”

Gwen giggled. “You're so oblivious to your own crush, it's hilarious.”

“I’m not oblivious, I don't even like him!”

“You trying to prove you don't like him is just making it worse.”

“Whatever,” Noah turned to the window. It was a bland view of the brick building over, but currently anything was better than looking at Gwen.

Noah figured Gwen was just being crazy today. Like Izzy that morning. Noah was no way in the world into Cody.

“Are you jealous that he likes me and not you?” Gwen asked.

“This conversation is over.”

“I'm gonna take that as a yes.”

Cody's group returned from assessments, and Cody once again returned to his table as the teacher called out Bridgette and Geoff.

“Hey, Noah, do you by chance have the answers to the packet?” Cody asked, and Noah turned to face him. He was doing his typical pleading eyes, which Noah usually gave into for non-gay reasons. But today was not one of those days. Noah couldn't risk Gwen thinking he was into Cody.

“Uh, no,” Noah responded, and Gwen snorted.

“What's going on?” Cody questioned. “By the way, Noah, I saw you finish that packet.”

“Um…”

“You two are so funny to me,” Gwen stated.

This statement just seemed to confuse Cody more.

“You should shoot your shot, man,” Gwen said. Who she was saying that to, Noah was unsure, but it definitely didn't help the red in his cheeks.

“Oh, fine,” Noah handed Cody his binder. “It's in the first pocket on the inside.”

“Thanks?” Cody responded.

“No problem.”

Noah returned to staring out of the window and not talking to anyone. He thought about what Gwen had said, and officially decided that she was crazy. There was no way he liked Cody. Absolutely no way.
