Sorry for the silence, lol; last week of school term has made the kiddos ROWDY and me TIRED as feck. Please have some poorly lit pics of my dust jacket, all printed up properly and official-looking! Gonna do some better 'glamour shots' at some point this weekend, here's hoping.

Printed on matte polyester film, A2 size, cut down with utility knife and ruler. (Colours look better in real life, promise.)

So I got in to bookbinding a few months ago and finally made a collection of all my batjokes stories. Since money is tight I told myself to stick to only supplies I already owned, so while these wouldn’t be my first choice of endpapers for this material, I still think the skulls are cute. The cover art was hand foiled with a foil quill pen and took a little under 3.5 hours.

Huge shoutout to everyone in the Renegade server for lending me their opinions and advice while I designed this little chonker 🙏🏻💜

A Simple Thing by iridan (aka @ryehouses) - a project in bookbinding

Alright folks, I've been sending Hal updates on this since I started it and I am so happy to say that the AST books are finally done! This project put every beginner's skill I had in bookbinding to the test and for all its challenges I'm really happy with the final product.

But wait! Do you also want a printed copy of A Simple Thing? Do you want to be able to stare at the bound books on your shelf and bask in a feeling of accomplishment? Well now you can! Thanks to many hours of perfecting things and compiling stuff (and getting permission to post), there is now a folder of all the files you need to make your very own copies of A Simple Thing!

Both regular PDFs and complete typesets are included, as well as all the PNG files you would need to make exact replicas of my copies should you so chose. All information on sizing, materials used, signature size, and more can be found in the file labeled IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ (almost like it might have vital info).

So go forth and bind away! Any questions or problems with files can be dropped in my ask.

N7 SOLDIER by ScreamingViking

Summary:

The Crucible's explosion dumps Shepard on the planet Gaia. The first human Spectre becomes SOLDIER's first sniper. Her ability to bring reason to unreasonable situations will alter the fate of the entire planet, but especially that of her three First Class friends. "You can pay a soldier to fire a gun. You can pay him to charge the enemy and take a hill. But you can't pay him to believe."

Split it into 2 volumes, cover design is the same image but inverted, more info and rambling in below.

I knew that I wanted to do the book in black-red, sticking to the N7 Logo color scheme.

I incorporated the FF7 meteor logo tot he cover design as the "center" of the universe, because I thought it would look cool and not too out of place.

Had bit of issue with the htv on the 2nd volume as you can see. Turns out patienece is the key and waiting to for the HTV vinyl to cool off before peeling makes sure none fo the vinyl is stuck on the foil whowouldhavethoughtthatnotme.

Title page is printed on vellum paper and gold foiled

End paper is a star chart, also printed at home and silver foiled.

I've done... two rebinds so far, one book from scratch, a German fairy tale, this would be my first fanfiction that I bound.

I'm so happy that ScreamingViking gave me permission to bind it - i think it's the only fanfiction that I liked over the years that is also actually completed LMFAO

Okay, here it is: my favorite bind to date! A Great and Gruesome Height by mokuyoubi wasn’t my first Hannigram fic, but it is my favorite so far, and I knew this book deserved something special! This bind needed drama, so I reached out to a fellow binder to collaborate and was THRILLED that the incredibly talented @/ferns.and.fables on Instagram agreed to design this stunning dust jacket with character art by @miasmatik! The case is covered in maroon book cloth with multi layered HTV details. The endpapers are also by miasmatik and I love how macabre and gorgeous they are! I am really obsessed with how this turned out! It truly is this bright—it’s not just the editing! 🤣

Here! Have some poor-quality pics of my poor-quality dust jacket mockup!

To clarify: this isn't the final dust jacket. This was a test print to ensure that the spine aligned, the back and front aligned, etc. I think it's pretty neato! (Forgive the slight misalignment on the spine in the 3rd pic; it's actually dead-on when pulled slightly along the back cover, which I realised after taking the photos.)

THE CASE OF THE MAN WHO TWO-THIRDS WASN’T THERE • @glisteningceruleaneyes (sorry for not tagging you originally, I didn’t realise you had a tumblr account!!)

Three-and-one-third bodies have been found in an abandoned vehicle on the riverbank.

It would be a challenging case even without the bad weather, weapons smuggling, white nationalists, industrial accidents, and the concept of pedigree dog breeds—but over it all hangs one troubling question: What is it that fascinates you about Kim Kitsuragi? Is it working class camaraderie? A sinister hex of mysterious origin? Did you imprint on him in Martinaise, like an amnesiac duckling? If you don’t figure out what’s going on soon, people are going to start to notice. Especially him. And sooner or later? Everything is related to the case.

Oh boy did this one take a long time!!!! This was a lot of firsts for me (curved spine, hand painting the back/front covers and spine) and while it only further cemented for me that I REALLY need a proper press, I’m actually really happy with how this turned out. And I also now finally have a color printer so I can do color images. Yayyyyy!!!!!

Honestly, Disco Elysium fics either leave me laughing my head off or an emotional wreck, and this one managed to do both spectacularly! Even rereading it for the nth time, there’s always something I chuckle at, and the finale is SOOOOO GOOD. I LOVE when DE fic writer incorporate La Revacholiere as like, an actual entity, and this fic has it in spades, on top of actually using the game’s script style formatting. I actually tried to incorporate as much of these elements as I could do the fonts are Sina Nova Medium for the text and Dobra Black for the headers (Same as the game!) Also, did I mention that it’s a different character perspective each chapter??? So Harry’s chapters have the game icons (Continue/end) for breaks while Kim’s have the thought bubbles. The bookcloth is Olive Green from TraditionalBookBinding and the fancy endpaper is TBBPM5, a super cool orange paper (Yah know…green and orange?) PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GO READ THIS FIC!!!!

Typeset is my own (Towns End Bindery).

This book is a Star Wars fic. I have never read it, but now that I have bound it, I will try it out. Yes, the cover was printed on directly using an inkjet printer.

The end pages feature the actors who play Beru Whitesun as her young version in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show (Bonnie Piesse), and older version from Episode 4: A New Hope (Shelagh Fraser).
