Hello! I've never sent an ask to anyone before, so I don't know if I'm doing this correctly! But I seriously love your aus, so I just had to try <3

For your monster!au, do you think that there is a difference in the kinds of food they eat between monsters and humans? The kinds of food, seasoning, preparation, how it's cooked, even the degree to which something is cooked. Especially with how you mention in another post about how some species can't eat certain foods.

Like, does Yuu (female pronouns please! Or gender neutral if you prefer) come to their world and have to figure out how to cook with ingredients she's never seen before, or does Yuu just start to cook things in ways the monster bois have never seen or thought of before? Would the boys enjoy it? Would it be safe for them?

Or do you think there wouldn't be much of a difference?

Also, out of curiosity, which species would you say has the most diverse diet?

To a degree, the food being cooked in the Monster!AU would be different depending on the species. I know I’ve pretty much beaten the grape incident into grape juice already, but while some may be okay with eating it, other students can’t due to it being toxic (I looked it up, and cranberry wine is a thing. That means Crewel can still enjoy a glass of wine, and it’s possible that the monsters/ghost chefs would use it in cooking instead of grape-based wines!). The same could be said for certain herbs and spices that we take for granted being something that can make them sick or can be just as toxic as grapes, like onions or garlic. Chocolate can still be a thing for some species, but carob is the main alternative that’s available—which means Yuu will still have access to it at least!

There’s also an extra sensitivity to citrus based scents. Using citrus juice to cook something like ceviche for example would be difficult, as not many can even get past the smell even if the taste itself is amazing. Funny enough, there’s actually this one manga I came across called “His Majesty the Demon King’s Housekeeper” that actually touches up on this fact as citric acid is one of the few ways to clean certain stains off surfaces, but most of the cleaning staff in the mansion couldn’t stand the smell of the orange peels until it was turned into a powder form by the demon king. It’s such a cute manga, and has lots of helpful tips too, so it’s a win-win!

If you can’t tell by now, Slice-of-Life manga and stories are my jam. I love when they touch up on things that we don’t normally think about and put a spin on things! >v<

Anyway, as you can imagine, if (and that’s a major IF) we were strictly to focus on the ingredients we know in our world, recipes would have to be tailored to be suitable to each species to avoid causing issues while ensuring that each student has the right nutrients needed to sustain their bodies. This would have resulted in having to find alternatives that are safe for students to enjoy while still being able to ensure safety to avoid severe allergic or otherwise dangerous reactions to having something they shouldn’t.

That would be one helluva menu to try to cater to when you can’t use certain seasonings to flavor things. Good thing Crowley has those ghost chefs to work with the menu, because I certainly couldn’t fathom the mental gymnastics of creating that kind of menu! @.@

But to put it in perspective, it’s like trying to give chocolate to a cat or dog when we have alternatives such as carob as I mentioned earlier. Or how people who are lactose intolerant have almond or oat milk or even goat milk as an alternative, or how there are gluten-free alternatives for those who can’t have it due to celiac disease. Just to name a few examples anyway, since I know there are people out there who have restrictive diets due to health reasons.

Thankfully, these guys aren’t entirely missing out on flavor since in Twisted Wonderland—much like how they have unique flowers and plants such as mandrakes right around the corner—I’m sure there’s no limit to the types of ingredients that can be used to cook with! In fact, I’m reminded of this manga that I’ve stumbled across that I gotta start from the beginning known as “Delicious in Dungeon”. Basically, it’s where the characters are traveling in a dungeon and they not only find monsters and creatures to hunt and eat (not like there’s a grocery store or market inside a dungeon), but also demonstrate how to prepare and cook using the ingredients found in the dungeon as well as the creatures themselves. It just looks so delicious whenever they show the results and what you can do with the extra stuff you can’t eat!

But I digress. ^v^;

This means that Yuu will have lots of new ingredients to try and explore in various dishes, and this also means new opportunities to learn new recipes! Imagine what you’d be able to learn during the Master Chef event too!

So…what happens when you have a female human who has excellent taste buds and a love of cooking and also loves to cook for others? You’ve got a whirlwind of ingredients flying around and waves of delicious smells wafting through the air leading many drooling students investigating the source (and trying to sneak a bite).

Iron-stomach gourmet Grim is the one who gets to enjoy Yuu’s experimental cooking at first. After all, why shouldn’t he be able to enjoy the spoils of his hench-human cooking for him? He’ll try guiding her with his knowledge of flavors and what tastes good, and she learns which seasonings to use for each dish whenever she talks to Trey or Jamil or even Azul. His bragging of being the first to try true human cuisine wound up drawing in the first years, many curious to see her in action while others hoped to try and sneak in a free meal.

Imagine if she cooked two-three meals a day: mini waffles and giant pancakes that are several inches thick? She’s adding various fruits and berries and pairing it with the perfect syrup! Homemade chicken or beef soup? Simmering with noodles boiled to perfection! Roasted pork and beef stew? Veggie stir-fry? Baked fish? Burgers? Pizza??? Nothing is off the table when Yuu is in the kitchen! And don’t get started on the different desserts she could whip up with Trey!

Soon enough, word would have spread around the school about the human’s delicious cooking and it won’t be long before Yuu has visitors around every meal time.

Yuu:*whisking eggs as the rice cooks* “Breakfast’s almost ready, Grim!”

Grim: “Hooray! Omurice cooked human-style~!”

Knock-knock-knock!

Yuu: “Come in!” *pouring the egg into two skillets before looking up* “Oh, hey guys!”

Ace: “Hey, Yuu! Whatcha making?”

Yuu: “I’m making omurice. I asked the chefs in the cafeteria how to make it and…wait…” *narrows eyes* “Did you guys come here just to get breakfast?”

Deuce: *sheepish* “Sorry, Yuu…we just really like the way you cook.”

Yuu: *sighs and smiles* “It’s okay. Next time, just let me know ahead of time so I can prepare more, okay?”

Grim: “Don’t even think of taking my portion!”

Ace: “Aww, is that any way to treat guests, Yuu?”

Yuu: “Grim, be nice.”

Grim: “What?! That’s not fair!”

Deuce: “I can wait my turn. Is there anything I can do to help?”

Yuu: “Could you chop up some more veggies and measure out the rice? Ace and Grim can have the first two, then we’ll have the next batch.”

Grim: “Stop encouraging them!”

Ace: “Oi! As if you don’t eat the food at the Unbirthday Parties!”

Grim: “Oh yeah?! Well I-mfh!?”

Ace: “Mfhg!?”

Yuu: *dusts hands after shoving two meat buns into their mouths* “There will be no fighting in my kitchen, you hear me?”

Ace and Grim: “Yeth m’m…”

/The Next Day/

Yuu: *standing in the doorway with a bowl of pancake batter* “…are you here to socialize or do you want to try some of my cooking?”

Silver: “Fa-I mean, Lilia…decided to cook breakfast today. He wanted to try and cook some old human recipes, but…”

Sebek: *looking mildly nauseous* “I did what I could to protect Lord Malleus, but…human food should not look like that.”

Yuu: “Ah, okay. Come on in. I’ll get another batch ready, so help yourself to the ones on the table! There’s fresh fruit and whipped cream there too.”

I have a feeling that Yuu would be getting a lot of visitors from Diasomnia on days that Lilia does the cooking, and I’m sure she’ll be more than happy to feed them too! 😌

As for the “food bribes”…well, it’s kinda hard to argue with the results. Especially when they can be very valid trades. Yuu wants a specific utensil to make that special treat or meal? You’ll get first dibs on the finished dish!

Oh no, Yuu needs help with this potionology assignment and made too many cupcakes to eat by herself! If only someone could come and help with both…

As you said, there are many possibilities of how Chef!Yuu could take advantage of their knowledge and skill around the kitchen! And before I forget, if I had to choose which species would have the most diverse diet…I would have to say it’s a tossup between the basilisks and the faun and satyr species. Basilisk can essentially eat nearly anything without much issue as their stomach acid is strong enough to even digest rocks and crystals, whereas faun and satyr can eat most any plant and fruit or vegetable imaginable and can tolerate some forms of meat without issue. Though if you really want to enhance the dietary variety possibilities, Epel and Trey would have this in the bag as these two are hybrids of two different species, making them truly omnivorous like humans!

Hi, it’s 1am and I’ve been doing nothing but writing essays and doing research all day. I finally decided to take a break to doodle for a bit, and while I was doodling, a thought struck me. A moment of genius even.

NRC should totally have a sister school that’s full of women. Perhaps I’m just gay, but I think the idea is super fun and has a lot of comedic potential.

Just like, imagine fem!yuu meeting the girls from the sister school and she gets PAMPERED. Like, the full nine yards, hair, nails, makeup, clothes, spa day. By the time it’s over she’s convinced this is her place. This is where she belongs. And then the reality hits that she has to GO BACK to NRC.

Vil had been searching high and low for a certain plant needed for his potion but luck was not on his side. The greenhouse was picked clean and there was no appropriate substitute.

The more wooded areas of campus would probably have a strand of it. Vil asked Rook and the hunter pointed towards where the old abandoned dorm was located. Many wild plants had made their home there.

To Vil's surprise he found a rather lush garden of vegetables and flowers. In it he found the plant he was looking for, fresh rampion.

The beautiful purple bellflower with the perfect leaves to make salve.

Vil guessed to owner wouldn't miss it as they wouldn't need it and what use would it be to stay here without purpose.

That is what he believed. Unfortunately, it was not shared as a fat tomato came flying to hit him in the face. The juicy fruit left a mess on him and his clothes.

"Theif! How dare you!" A voice yelled over the garden

Standing in the row of tomatoes was a girl on the shorter side with cheeks as red as her fruit.

"How dare yo-" Vil started as he wiped the tomato pulp from his eyes but was quickly silenced.

"How dare I?! How dare you!" She put her hands on her hips as she raised her voice "You have some nerve pretty boy to take from my garden! It's bad enough to have those Savanaclaw brats snatching my catnip and herbs! Now it's Pomefiore's boys stealing."

The girl was clearly fed up and before Vil could say a word he was snatched up by the ear. Despite the clear height difference she easily dragged Vil away as he indignantly tried to protest.

"Excuse me! If you-OW- listen to me!" Vil tried to escape her grasp but she was strong and her grip was like iron.

"I don't listen to thieves." She stated as she dragged him across campus back to the Pomefiore dorms. "I'm taking you to your housewarden and having him deal with you. I'm going easy on you just this once."

"Don't you know who I am?! I'm Vil Schoenheit! Pomefiore's housewarden!" Vil felt the crazed gardener's grip go slack for a moment only to tighten even harder.

"That makes it worse! How dare you try and steal from me as a housewarden! So you think you can push me around?!" The irrate girl glared daggers into him. "I don't care who you are! I don't want to see you in my garden again."

With that she let go of him and stormed off.

Vil returned to his dorm bewildered and speechless. Rook appeared shortly thereafter and mentioned something important.

"There is this girl that stays in the old dorm. Very feisty and strong as an ox. She is as sweet as a little dove though and bakes great blueberry pie. I've had the pleasure of trying some. As long as you don't go messing with her plants she's like honeycomb." Rook sang her praises as Vil rubbed his sore ear.

True to his word the girl "Yuu" was as soft a butterfly wing on a normal day as she flitted about in her garden.

Vil didn't know whether to hate her or not. He wanted to look down on her for her loosely tied hair, dirt covered hands, and red burnt face. The way she stood after being hunched over her garden beds and streched her back from the labor made her beasts look enticing as sweat fell down her chest. He had to hold back his blush.

"She was a nothing more then a work horse" he tried to convince himself. "Wholely unfitting to be called a woman."

Shame was a powerful motivator.

She was completely unconcerned with him on the other hand. Epel had become her companion in the field when they had time after classes. Often times he'd stay over for dinner and take back leftovers much to Vil's ire.

Jealousy burning in him. She had such a soft side for them but to him she paid no mind. She smiled sweetly to them. She coddled them. She made wreaths of flowers for them. Laughed, soothed, cheered for, and adored other them but not him. Never him.

Yet, she still cared. She still would save treats for him. She may not let him have free range of her garden just still gave him anything he needed from it. She would still get him and not avoid him.

But swallow his pride he must if he wanted something from her. If he wanted her attention he didn't have it. She had little need for a useless pretty boy. Rook could hunt, Epel could farm but what could Vil offer her? His looks? His fame? What could she do with that?

He tried offering her a beauty treatment to her but she shot him down.

"Something like that would be wasted on me. I don't need to look like a beauty queen anyways, even if I could." Yuu said taking her basket of gardening tools inside and promptly closed the door.

Vil's heart ached hearing her say this. Someone like her was worth more then the most flawless diamond. She was like a million diamonds glittering in the sky with the strength to match.

Surely, he could do something for her, and prove his worth.

Vil shook his head. He couldn't believe he was thinking this. He found himself unworthy of her when it should be the other way around. He once considered himself above all others as he rightfully should, but now he is clamoring to be this woman's passing thought. How low could he sink? How high was this prize?

Vil fantasized about her. Thoughts of just being with her. The warmth of her sun-kissed skin that was not fair in the slightest. Nestling in the softness of her middle and breathing the scent of herbs and flowers from her hair. He wondered if she thought of him the same way.

Unknown to him the girl shared in these desires too ashamed too admit. Her thought were of that prissy pretty boy who thought the world owed him something. Her face burned to think of his smug smile. The touch of his hands were probably as soft as velvet unlike her's who's was callused and rough. His lips were surely just as soft. But he wouldn't want a girl like her. He'd want someone classy and proper. He'd ask her to change for his sake. Yuu couldn't do that.

One afternoon as Yuu clipped her white roses she felt a hand on her cheek. It stung as a thumb brushed her cheekbone.

Tsk "You managed to sun burn yourself again." Vil scolded pulling out a vial of clear liquid.

"Stop, I'll be fine. It's only a bit of sun. I'll be fine." Yuu tried to pull away but Vil held firm.

"You should be concerned. Sun damage is bad for your skin!" Vil continued as he rubbed the solution onto her face.

"So what, I'm ugly anyways. I'll just become and old hag earlier just like I act the part." Yuu successfully pulled her face face away from him but his arm circled her waist and pulled her foward again.

"Don't say that! Don't ever say that!" Vil yelled as he held her. "You are many things. Brash, loud, and as stubborn as a mule; but you are also kind, quick-witted and you have a strong sense of justice."

Vil hugged her tightly as he spoke.

"I wish I could say, I regret taking from your garden. That I'm still mad you dragged me by the ear like a child. Or that you threw a tomato me. But I don't, not for a moment because I got the meet you. And you are so wonderful, for no other reason than that you are you." Vil took in a breath before he said the next part to steady his heart "I'm not going to be cliché and say I like you because you treat me like a normal person. Trust me, there are plenty of people who already do that and that's not enough to consider someone special because anyone can do that. You are more then just some girl who humbled me, you are a rose growing in concrete. Beautiful, resilient, and unexpected. And I love you."

Yuu felt something warm trail down her cheeks as tears stung her eyes. He hugged Vil close the her as she buried her head into his shoulder.

"Thank you...thank you." She whispered breathlessly.

Note: Don't steal Rampion. A witch will demand your first born and lock her in a tower. On another note I love Vil but I don't believe he would fall for a someone just because they treat him like a human it's not a trope I'm fond of. I think it's more complex then that. Simply telling someone they are pretty doesn't make them fall in love it help but it's more then that.

Okay, either the scientist knew she was preggo or they just thought she was going through hormonal changes or whatever, there is NO WAY CROWLEY DOESNT KNOW THE HUMAN IS PREGGO.

Oh, Lilia is going to have a FIELD DAY WHEN THE BABY IS BORN, same for Trein, he’s probably going to love it.

Okay, to be fair, I forgot to mention that the events take place shortly after Yuu's arrival. Probably between chapter 2 and 3 given the timeline we have, which puts it at about...two, three weeks after the prologue and shortly after Riddle and Leona overblot.

As for the scientists/researchers, while logically speaking they would immediately jump at the chance to come to the island to start their studies, they first had to make sure these pictures circulating on Cater’s Magicam posts were legit first. Once it is established through a video or two that was posted, that's when they reach out to Crowley to make the arrangements!

And they actually arrive a week after the pregnancy announcement, so you can bet that they are very eager to get some studying done as quick as possible! 😂

As for the staff not realizing that fem!Yuu is pregnant, they are aware of what a pregnant monster's scent is like for sure. But because there hadn't been a human in centuries, even if Crowley was old enough to have been around humans, it's not like he remembers the scent off the top of his head! The staff would all essentially be like those confused cats and dogs trying to figure out what this strange bump is and why their human smells funny before instinctively feeling protective.

Can you just imagine Crowley building a nest for Yuu without realizing just *why* he was doing it in the first place? Or the blank stare he'd give the moment someone asked him like, "...why am I doing this??" and it only becomes clear shortly after the announcement, in which he tries to pretend he knew all along 😂

I'm also reminded of this one post where OP's cat had had multiple litters in the past and was so excited when OP got pregnant that the kitty kept trying to show her to the nest she made for OP's "kitten", and it was the sweetest thing I'd ever read 🥹

Anyway, you can bet your bottom madol that Cater will absolutely be keeping EVERYONE updated on Magicam throughout the whole process, and he is getting flooded with baby picture requests 🤣 It's also sweet how mothers come across the posts and try to offer advice that they'd learned on raising their kids, which is nice, though not all of the advice would really be practical based on species 😅 But at least they're sweet enough to offer that and words of encouragement! I can even see some inviting Yuu to a mother's support group meeting ;;v;;

You can also bet that Yuu will be receiving a lot of baby shower gifts and such from Cater’s followers. At least they don't have to worry about needing to buy diapers for a while! 🤣

Ooooooh yes, Lilia is going to be ecstatic to be able to hold and care for a baby again! He will offer to help watch over the little one (hadn't decided on a gender or name yet for the new baby) so Yuu can take a break, though don't worry about him trying to feed the baby his cooking. He learned and knows that milk is important for the baby, so he makes sure to have the bottles readily available even at Diasomnia~ (though Silver and the others make sure to keep an eye on him when it comes to feeding time just to be on the safe side)

Trein has already raised two daughters, and while he may not be interested in raising another, that's not to say he won't wind up spoiling the little human baby like any grandparent would! He'll also offer a shoulder for fem!Yuu to lean on and reassure her that she's doing a great job as a mother ;;v;;

He's probably a LOT more cooperative with you as well and doesn't run away as often, so he doesn't worry or disappoint you :(

The classes you can't participate in, he tries a little harder in for both of you. Mostly for you, but he won't admit it. And he only tries a LITTLE harder.

When he hurt you in book 5-6, he was so mad at himself that he cried a little about it because he hurt his only caring and loving figure in his life. And even after that, you go after him and rescue him, and comfort him??? He never wants to hurt you again, and even after you reassure him and tell him you love him all the same in your sweet and gentle voice, he still beats himself up over it :(

But in the end, you love him like a son, and he loves you like a mom. And still gets teased about it by Ace and Deuce (until they also accidentally call you mom and their whole career is ended by grim)
