People from Berga (Comarques Gironines, Catalonia) jump and sing to celebrate the beginning of their city's most beloved festivities: the Patum.

Held annually on the week of Corpus Christi, the oldest written document that talks about Berga's Patum dates from the year 1454. The celebration is based on the same elements as other Catalan traditional festivities called festes majors, which include tradicional dance, music, "giants" figures, bestiary, and demons fire dances.

Night Dancers x China x Mexico

Shot at the Vitosha Folk Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria. While I wasn't able to gain access to backstage, or a decent location to shoot from due to the organizers not being cool and fucking up our communication (and generally shutting me down bc I wasn't hired beforehand), I was still able to snag some decent shots regardless.

Doesn't matter, because after spending some time shooting the dancers in the city the previous day, I knew I wanted to shoot their performances, even if only for my own interest.
