elliot s maggin (one of the main pre-crisis superman writers, and if you’re not familiar with him i beg you to track down some of his work) has a quora account where he answers questions about his opinions on comics and superheroes and god, i love hearing him talk about lex luthor.
a few highlights:
the idea that “no one is truly irredeemable, even the worst of villains” is frankly incredibly radical even by current day standards — grown adults couldn’t handle that shit in steven universe, a literal show for children — but it should be a core tenet of the superman mythos and that is a hill i will die on.

“Eve.” A soft, low voice calls, before a man rises from a nearby booth, making his way across the room to greet her, a smile curling up the corners of his full mouth. “You came.”
His eyes are a pale blue and striking in the low light, as if all the colour has been washed out of them. He’s taller than he’d appeared in his photo, broader, with high cheekbones and a prominent jaw, the strength of him evident in the shift of muscle in his arms as he extends his hand to her. His grip is firm but gentle when she takes it, the crease of his eyes warm.
“Georgi,” he introduces himself, before inclining his head towards the man watching them on the other side of the booth, his dark eyes glittering in the golden lamplight. “And this is my mate, Ilya.”
Mate. She steps closer and takes the hand Ilya offers her, the dark waves of his hair framing his face falling back to reveal angled features, the dark stubble that lines his jaw, a canine flashing as he offers her a smile that is as much of an invitation as it is a threat.
“Pleasure,” he murmurs, his voice soft in the hushed quiet of the bar. His eyes are sharp as he takes her in, perceptive, and she can feel the weight of his aura against hers, testing. Her magic rises to meet it, a flicker in comparison, and his smile grows. “We’ve been looking forward to meeting you.”

did i commission the incredible @andr0leda again?
HELL YEAH I DID (link to commissions tag here!)
this is from an original project i'm working on; Ilya (left) and Georgi (right) are mated/married/the works and I love them, and I love this, and you should shower andy with all the love because this has given me so much serotonin over the last few weeks, you have no idea.

Eric 👑
So I figure nobody talks about this because it's not really known about but did you know that if you pause house of ashes during Eric's flashback the character screen has this unique Eric model?
@kassiekolchek22 @mistmoose @delurkr @ctrvpani @tatjana-fantasy @cupofangst @dennisseyebrows (Eric King lovers in general, sorry if I missed you my memory is a little like that 😅)
It's grainy and slomo like the flashback but it's the only time you get to see Eric both clean and without his sunglasses(also I low key think this model is topless because I can't see any shirt collar so topless Eric model is out there somewhere? Unless he's just a head I suppose)

Ok fic writers repeat after me;
"One of the two men in the mlm couple I ship, doesn't have to be blatantly physically weaker and less fit than the other. That's the heteronormativity talking."
Say it again but slower, really take it in.
