i know people are (generally) joking when they say it but i do kind of hate the whole “katara could have just moved out of the way when azula shot lightning at her in the final agni kai” argument because it, whether intentionally or not, dismisses the emotional weight of the scene?
like, in case people have forgotten: lightning is fast. the scene dwindles into slow motion for dramatic effect, but that doesn’t mean that’s how it’s actually happening. the emphasis is on zuko realizing what azula is doing JUST in the nick of time (something all characters struggle to do, but he, in particular, has struggled not to fall for azula’s past manipulations) and moving more quickly than lightning to take the hit instead of katara. the emphasis is on the fact that despite zuko, in the past, struggling to figure out what was right or wrong, here he didn’t hesitate for one second. there was no chance of that lightning ever reaching katara as soon as zuko understood what was happening and that matters!!
(i also hate it because in the slightly less-jokey crowd, it seems like a tacit implication that katara and/or zuko is stupid for not realizing she could just move out of the way when that’s not the point!)

Mmmmmmmm Dnn au where Sapnap and George are both selkies and they haven't told Dream but he knows, and he doesn't blame them for not telling him, he gets it, and they always keep their furs hidden until one day someone breaks into their home and steals their furs, and while the two of them are freaking out because this is literally the worst case scenario ever and what are they going to even tell Dream, Dream goes after the guys and just kills them
Except Dream fucked up and now he's freaking out because he got fucking blood on their coats! He can't give the coats back with blood in them, that would be so rude and gross and what if the blood sticks to it after it dries????
So Sapnap and George suddenly feel a new pair of hands touch their coats, different from the ones that had grabbed and thrown it around and hidden. No, these hands tremble slightly as they touch their furs and they feel so familiar and then there's the feeling of water which... is very weird? What the fuck is happening to their coats??
But yeah, Dream washes the blood off and them puts the coats in the drier on a low setting with a bunch of towels (which is a very very weird feeling to Sapnap and George) and he leaves the coats on their beds without them seeing and now they kinda smell like the laundry cleaner Dream uses and it drives George and Sapnap insane (/pos)

@pillowspace here take a thingy *slams down on table and scurries away*
(this is technically my first 2nd person/reader fic, so uhh hopefully it’s not too bad):
You’ve been running yourself ragged with your daycare duties lately. It’s the… seventh loop? Maybe. You’re not sure. All you know is that you’re getting nowhere in your search for the cause of the time loops, spending your nights sleeplessly jotting ideas down in your notebook - though you know you’ll have to rewrite everything next time.
You don’t know how much longer you can take it.
“Y/N? Are you alright?”
You flinch hard, snapping your head up from where it laid on the desk. Above you towers Sun, patiently waiting for an answer behind the computer, fidgeting anxiously with the ribbons on his wrists.
“Me? Oh! Oh yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
Sun deflates a bit. “You don’t… seem fine. Normally you leave by now but you’ve had your head down for quite a while. Did you get enough sleep last night?”
“Isn’t that Moon’s catchphrase?” you ask, cocking your head.
“You make it hard to resist,” he replied, chuckling nervously.
“Well I did, so again, no reason to worry. I’ll be out of your… er, rays in no time.”
Sun flinches, holding his hands out to shake them in denial. “Nonono! I’m not trying to get rid of you, promise! I’m just worried - me and Moon both!”
He leans over the desk to get a better look at you - horrible bags under your eyes, shirt buttoned incorrectly, and a disgruntled, slightly annoyed expression on your face. You quickly change it to a smile, shaking your head.
“I’m telling you it’s fine, Sun. And you’re right - I should probably get going now. See you tomorrow.”
“S-See you tomorrow…”
You smile more genuinely and stand up to grab your bag from the side desk, slinging it over your shoulder and signing off of the computer before walking over to the large double-doors. You place your hand on the handles just as you feel a light touch on your arm - a cold, hard touch.
Like metal.
You jerk away immediately, wildly swinging your bag around to hit your attacker directly in the neck, knocking his head loose and sending his faceplate spinning wildly. The sound of your feet pounding against the ground fills your ears as you follow your escape route as fast as you can. He'll take a bit of time - though not much - to connect to the wire, so the second-floor exit should work best.
You’re halfway up the staircase when you come to an abrupt stop, glancing up frantically at the bright lights illuminating your path. You whip your head around to see Sun sprawled out on the ground, his rays still spinning from the impact, his eyes already dim.
Your breath hitches. You practically leap down the stairs to rush to his side, kneeling at his side to inspect his faceplate. You can hear your heart pounding heavily as you carefully turn his head from side to side. As expected: the collision had ripped multiple wires and loosened the screws at the base of his neck. It was an easy fix, but it would leave the attendant immobilized for a while.
You stand up, stumbling over to the computers. You quickly log back in to file a report to Parts & Services, describing the wreckage in a brief summary before immediately logging back out. Stepping carefully over Sun’s body, you approach the double doors, where you left your bag. You pick it up, turning to glance back at your fallen friend. Your hands are still shaking - your breath hasn’t entirely calmed down yet.
You hurry out of the daycare, still listening to the pounding of your heart and the anxious taps of your feet on the floor.
Hopefully you'll catch yourself from hurting them next time.

Some angst thoughts with you/Yuu after Jamil's overblot (with an extra dash of snake phobia because, uhh, personal experience):
Jamil thinks he knows why you avoid meeting his eyes - he doesn't realize you're still working on getting used to his presence in general, trying to keep at bay those memories of his overblot that seem so deeply ingrained in your mind.
In the right situation, just hearing Jamil's voice seems to take you back.
Seeing him from the corner of your eye isn't much better: those braids really look an awful lot like something long and slithery when your mind's primed for it, your mind anticipating the hissing snakes darting towards your face again.
You find it difficult to sleep with your bedroom door closed - it makes you feel too confined, with no way out.
Not that the new nightmares help your sleeping situation much, either.
Kalim keeps on inviting you over to the dorm for yet another get together. You know it would do you good to go, eventually, but you're not sure you're ready yet. So you come up with another excuse.
