I didn't know abt the special guest thing 😔 I knew abt George's pets back home but not Sapnap's and only found out abt it today.

Absolutely crazy how it works though. Like, there's stuff that I don't know that you and many others do (and this will always be the case no matter how much I learn abt the fandom before I joined). And there's stuff that I know that others won't. I mean, it's been abt 2 and a half months since the face reveal and around 3 months since the visa announcement—how many people have joined since then? Who never even experienced Florida truthing.

u totally hit the nail on the head with your last point, it’s a SUPER interesting aspect of this fandom! with most media like a tv show or book series, you can come into it as late as you want and still know everything you need to know by the end of it. but streaming fandoms (and real people in general, though i didn’t experience it nearly as much when i was into 1d) are kind of like… an ongoing learning process? there’s so much disorganized content, a large portion of which is just lost to time, that you’ll never be able to catch up on all of it. and the Lore is randomly sprinkled in different places and times so if you don’t happen to see something, you just won’t know unless someone else brings it up. and like you mentioned with florida truthing, you can never go back and have that experience if you missed it! it’s super super fascinating how the “in the moment” nature of livestreaming impacts how the fandom works and passes information

#and it’s different joining within the past few months compared to when you did compared to when i did #i joined at the end of 2020 not right at the beginning but they were still pretty new #so i’m still (fairly) familiar with stuff that happened before my time because that was what we had to talk about #whereas now or in 2021 i feel like people don’t do that as much #so new fans are exponentially less likely to know the deep lore #anyway it makes sense that you knew about george’s pets but not sapnap’s cause i think the last we heard of cat was memes with dreams #a little before your time but still around there #whereas the texas pets were pretty elusive even when i joined #although pandastwt LIVEDDD on the special guest clip #dog and luca are probably the least known about #and smokey if you wanna include dream pets #anyway thank you 📝📝📝 SRRY FOR RAMBLING.. i really liked what you brought up #bella answers #anon

George was awed by your beauty, he had never seen someone so beautiful. Each time his eyes wanted to stray away, they would just land right back on you. He had been harvesting a liking to you for the past few weeks as he had seen you at many balls and events. At each event you were at, he always stood to the side and analysed your features.

Your suitor had finally gone after the dance had finished and so you elegantly made your way over to the King. Once you had reached him, you curtsied. He bashfully smiled. “Hello, Lady Y/N.”, he welcomed you softly. “Hello, your majesty.”, you responded. “I would ask for a dance but I notice your dance card is full but it does not matter, in fact I never really enjoyed dancing.”, he stated kindly. “Yes, I was never one for dancing either, I’d rather be at the side of the ballroom talking to people like you.”, you replied honestly. “Royalty?”, he joked and chuckled. You laughed slightly.

“Would you like to go outside where it is not so crowded?”, he offered. “Yes, of course.”

George gave you his hand and guided you to a secluded area outside. He gazed up at the sky. “Have you ever watched the stars before?”, he questioned. “No, but I would love to.”, you said. He began pointing out the important stars and explaining their history and the lore behind them. You noticed his hand had started trembling but brushed it off. “You’re like Venus.”, he whispered to you. “You always manage to capture my eyes and my mind.”, he said tentatively to you. He felt his hand tremble and his head. “Would you mind getting Reynolds, please?”, he softly asked.

You hurried off to find Reynolds, you didn’t know what was going on but you weren’t going to ask questions about the King’s health. You found Reynolds beside a carriage. “Reynolds, the King has requested you.”, you walked off hastily with Reynolds behind you. You reached George and saw him speaking to himself and his head twitching. “Is he okay?”, you asked concerned. “Lady Y/N, please return to the ball.”, Reynolds commanded. “No, let her stay if she would like.”, George said. You walked closer to George and grabbed his trembling hands.

“It will be alright, your majesty.”, you stated. “Why don’t you tell me about Venus?”, you added, hoping to distract his mind from whatever was going on. “A rare occurrence is coming. Venus will travel in a single arc and give us a single moment to take precise measurements and we shall know the distance from the Earth to the Sun.”, he said with his voice shaking. He paused. “The transit of Venus it is called. It will be quite a spectacle.”, he stated with a lost look in his eyes. “I’m sure it will, it sounds very intriguing and important for the study of astronomy.”, you mentioned as you noticed his hands had stopped trembling so violently.

Reynolds was stood off to the side, allowing you your moment. His head stopped twitching and he was no longer mumbling incoherent words. Your hands still held his and he tightened his grip on yours. He gazed at you. “I am sorry.”, he said pitifully. “For what?”, you asked. “I am a mad man.”, he turned his eyes to his hands. “George, you are no mad man. I see a kind and funny man.”, you stated genuinely. You looked into his eyes and gently pecked his lips before he kissed back hungrily. “I must head back. But something about how wound up George is, how insanely pedantic he is about everything from semicolons to coffee cup placement for the Directors to taking insanely detailed minutes that nobody except Max reads after the meetings – well. What is it that Nietschze once said? We hate in others what we most identify with about ourselves. Or was that from Twitter? Max does not really use Twitter except to look at Bloomberg News updates and cat videos, so he does not know. And anyway Nietzsche never made a six figure salary.

“It would just be easier if you would let me do it.” Max says.

“Fuck right off, mate.”

“Oh, wouldn’t you like me to.”

“Not now.”

“Just share the link to this. I’ll do it.”

“We agreed to take turns on this.”

“Yes, Russell. But sometimes, the rules are meant to be bent.”

George swivels his chair to Max, then. Fully attempts to pin him with his gaze, commencing an awkward stare-off that lasts way too many seconds and makes Max once again realise that George’s eyes remind him of the expensive fish tank he saw at the Partners’ sushi dinner once. Max doesn’t think those same fish were the ones they ended up eating. But he does remember that dinner because it was the one where the Partners had dangled the promise of a huge promotion if they could help carry the company merger across the line successfully. The problem is, there was only one spot.

George’s distracting aquatic orbitals aside, fortunately, Max (i) never backs down, and (ii) has been told that he has the dead-eyed emotional stare of a robot missing an empathy software upgrade sometimes.

And clearly, the powerpoint was steadily taking over their relationship, something that Max was not willing to stand for.

Max leans back in his chair, stance all mock-relaxed. “Do you want to be out of here before midnight, or not?”

“We’re expensing the Ubers either way, so it doesn’t make a difference to me, mate.”

Fine. If George is so hyperfocused on The Tasks that he’s forgotten the fun part of being Questionably Close Coworkers, so be it.

Max deploys the nuclear option.

He sticks his leg out, nudging the toe of his Pradas onto George’s slacks. And strokes his foot halfway up to a sensitive point on George’s thigh. Max may even flutter his lashes a little.

To his credit, George does not react. Merely swings his eyes like a lamp to Max’s face again. His hand does, however, goes still on the mouse.

“What exactly are you doing?”

“I don’t know.” Max feigns. He knows that George hates, more than anything, anyone getting dirt on his precious Ralph Laurens. But at least he has his attention now. “Was hoping we could move onto the more fun part of the typical evening activities. Maybe.”

“We shouldn’t be doing that again anyway.”

“George.”

“What?”

“That is not what you said the last, hm, fourteen times that we have done this, eh?”

“Who’s counting?”

“I thought you were the most careful of rule followers and data analysis, knapperd.”

George is a human being, but Max is almost certain the other man shakes himself like he’s preening right now.

“Well. It’s what the team likes me for, and it’s what I’ll keep doing.”

“Oh yes. Surely we must keep in mind the team. And the shareholders. They are very important.”

“Quite.”

“But should we tell them that you like it so much, George. When I do this.” Max says. Rising up, fully crowding George in, hands gripping the cool handles of the computer chair. Leaning in to nibble the side of George’s neck.

George swallows. Max watches his throat move.

Next, Max mouths the words onto the side of George’s jaw, stubble prickling his mouth. “And this.”

The click of the mouse continues steadily as Max moves his mouth to the shell of George’s ear. “And let’s not forget. This.”

Max tilts George’s face up fully, then. George’s face is flushed, eyes sparkling, all surprise at the sudden change of pace, but eager, too.

When Max seals his lips over George’s, George groans, and his hands shoot up to Max’s waist immediately. It doesn’t feel quite like winning a deal or a pitch does for Max, but the completion comes pretty damn close.

Max sweeps his tongue into George’s mouth. George opens willingly, like he always does. In the back of Max’s logical brain, a warning sign blares that the computer chair may not be able to support the weight of them both – because they spend a lot of time pretending they don’t work out together at the gym but Max knows exactly what George’s deadlift PB is and it’s pretty damn high for a scrawny looking dude.

And despite the keening protest of said chair, the two of them are both lost to it now. Max jams one knee between George’s legs, George nibbles hungrily at Max’s lower lip, Max thrusts his hips all needy, and maybe if Max is nice about it George might suck him off under the table, and–

Outlook chimes again.

“Blasted piece of shit.” George says, breaking away. His hands go still at Max’s waist. “Why we’re using G-Suite and Microsoft Office at the same time I will never know.”

George squeezes his eyes shut, as if making himself stop this is causing him physical pain. Maybe it’s that or the workflow incompatibility when George tries to move his custom Excel-Trello gantts into a third party API.

And Max won’t lie. He kind of likes it when George gets so irritated about these things. When he cares a bit too much. Because what is Max but exactly like that, too.

“Hazards of a merger, I guess. But without that, I would never have met you, no?”

George makes a noise like he knows what Max means. The other man straightens his shirt collar, and Max runs a hand through his hair. He’s been growing it out lately, because George had made a passing comment at the bathroom sink once about it looking good.

Sleeping with the person competing for the same Chief of Staff position is possibly the worst decision he could’ve made, and Max once dyed his hair platinum blonde. But, they’re stuck here together. Hell is a slightly more tolerable place when Satan’s right hand man looks this good. And knows his coffee order without asking.

Besides. Max is not bothered. He knows that the promotion is his. This is just a minor plot inconvenience.

Later, they will expense the uber back to George’s place, where Max will put his mouth on George’s arse, and give him a practical demonstration of the three different ways he’s learned to elicit pleasure from the male prostate.

George will whimper and whine the whole way through it, and after they’re both sated, they’ll both roll over to check their emails, barely concealing their smiles. They will pretend that what’s happening between them could be as clean as their zero-email inboxes. As if their connection is not violently seeping through containment.

All in the name of team bonding. For the firm. Yes.

(Or this is what they tell themselves, to maintain the illusion, anyway.)

Lockwood and Co. How do I begin to talk about this insane universe that has literally changed my life in so many ways in such a small amount of time?

I think it was probably January 27th that I actually got the notification for the trailer for the show from Netflix’s Youtube. I don’t know exactly what it was that made me interested in the trailer in the first place and set it apart from the hundreds of trailers that netflix has posted that I’ve ignored, but there was just something about it that made me think “oh, this looks interesting, let me take a look at the trailer.” Thank god I did.

If I were to go back in time to that version of linnie and tell them that their life was about to be changed, I think they would’ve laughed. At that period of time I’d had a 2 year long hyperfixation on the grishaverse and I couldn’t think of anything that would’ve possibly broken me out of that long ass period of chaos. And then I watched Lockwood and Co and I immediately fell in love with an entirely new world.

Lockwood and co means so much to me for so many reasons. One of them is that I’ve never seen myself more reflected in a character than I see myself in Lucy Carlyle- hence the name Linnie. I didn’t even realize it until Aaron ( @queer-and-nerdy ) pointed it out (after I pointed out how much of a George kinnie they are) and then everything made sense in a way? Like Lucy Carlyle is the truest form of a comfort character for me because we are basically the same person and I never realized how special a character could be until I met Lucy Joan Carlyle.

Another reason why I love this universe so much is because I love found family, and I love the found family that Jonathan Stroud has written. The Iron Trio will always be so special to me because of how often it is shown and how deeply it is known that they love each other unconditionally, Even George and Lucy, who have their differences when they first meet, grow to love each other in their own way and I genuinely believe that the family found within the Iron Trio is one of the most beautiful relationships I’ve ever read or seen portrayed on screen.

I also just truly love the worldbuilding. The world that Jonathan Stroud has created has such an amazing homely feel to it that I will never tire of. I love literally everything about it- the lore, the execution, the way that he was able to make ghosts even more terrifying for such a young audience.

Lastly, I love the fandom. I’ve talked a little bit about how much a kind and welcoming fan space like the l&co tumblr means to me and how I have had rocky situations in a fandom in the past, but I truly cannot even begin to talk about how much this online space has truly changed me in so many ways. I feel like I can have open, honest, and constructive opinions on here without being scared to speak my mind or fear the repercussions of not being 100% happy all the time. This fandom is the most accepting and loving fandom I have ever known, and I’d like to tag a few of the people who have made this place so loving and enjoyable to partake in. Transcript of Dream’s message re: DSMP

Hey guys! Dream just tweeted this voice message out on private twitter discussing the future of the Dream SMP. Here’s my transcription of it.

I see a lot of buzz on twitter so I thought I’d talk about it. The dream smp is coming back, there’s a lot of big plans, that’s a thing I guess. People were talking about is it gonna be reboot is it gonna be reset, what now?

One thing I’ve never wanted to do and I feel like I’ve been very strong on the discord and to everyone in general having discussions about it is that we’re not resetting the map, getting rid of the old history, the lore. If we wanted to do that, we’d just do a new server. The thing that makes the Dream SMP unique is the lore and the history.

But that being said SMP servers in general usually do resets every couple of months or whatever cause it does get stale because of the limitations of Minecraft once you get certain items so it does get boring for some people and that’s kinda a shared thing amongst everybody. People like George being like ‘Oh I’m not a builder so there’s nothing I can do on the server because I can’t get on and kill anyone cause everyone has netherite,’ or it’s Tubbo who is more of a builder but once he gets to a certain point its like there’s not that much to do. You’ve already built what you want to build, you’ve built all your redstone machine whatever so it’s kind of a problem related to SMPs.

I do genuinely think we have a solution that we all came up with together. I think I’ve talked individually with every member of the SMP bar maybe one or two that we haven’t linked up with and some stuff is definitely happening. It will be unique. It will be a way we can kind of have the best of both worlds and have an awesome season 2 to the Dream SMP while including stuff from season 1 in a way but still to be continued and also starting things off strong.

 There’s a lot of plans put in place to hold people to play on the server and keep the same family team environment we’ve had on the Dream SMP since the beginning and everyone I’ve talked to so far has been really committed and really excited and that was something I was surprised about, I thought there’d be more people who were iffy or weren’t as interested in it. Everyone has been really hyped, it’s the same discussion that has been going on for a month and a half or so. Things have been really ironed out. There should be stuff by the end of this month. 

As for Techno's stuff, I don't think we'll continue anything to do with his character. As far as I know, he hasn't written anything for himself either. His dad did mention on a call with me the other night that he would be open to doing something related the SMP. Like a charity related thing on Techno’s behalf. So, if that ends up happening, it'd be fully related to his dad and his family. I’m sure primarily anyone who would have any involvement in it at all would be his closest friends and family. That’s all I know for Techno’s involvement.

So, yeah very long voice note, I guess. Lots of stuff coming to the Dream SMP, everyone’s excited everyone seems really interested and hyped to stream it. You guys won't expect what's coming. The story's not ending; the story’s gonna be back and better than ever but there will be a lot of things that will change things. You guys can theorise if you like the dynamics are gonna be different the relationships are gonna be different, there’s going to be a world altering event and yeah, stay tuned all your favourite streamers will be streaming it soon. Everyone will play a part. Peace!

why is everyone so mad about aemond not being able to control vhagar-slash-luke not having that same control over arrax when daenerys had the same issues with drogon? to the point that she locked rhaegal and viserion up? these are wild animals. despite having that bond, yes, arrax burned her. not saying that seeing the dragon baby or luke’s death isn’t sad because i hated to see it but arrax obviously felt attacked due to the frightened nature of lucerys, who he is bonded to. and vhagar, a war veteran dragon, naturally attacked. ya’ll are so mad that aemond wasn’t evil when this last episode was meant to show character development? this isn’t the end of the dance, only the beginning. i, personally, would like to see what makes aemond bad. even still, show his own sense of morals or lacktherof. sit the fuck down. when things are adapted on screen years or months later, it is the creator’s directive to change what originally occurred. why? maybe because they have more insight into their characters? or want to change them up years later? we do it all the time as fanfic writers, so give the same respect. especially when blessed by the creator of the actual series. they consulted with george on this. wait and see before you judge is all. christ. ya’ll just like to complain for real when one thing doesn’t go your way.  p.s.: mushroom told half of the stories, which weren’t based in truth? only assumption. and the fictional author in the series said this happened (and as the show’s co-creator and executive producer, martin presumably has some agency in making this happen), but it wasn’t concrete in actual book lore. so please. 

one more thing: ya’ll also forget these kids don’t know war. let aemond really feel the consequences of his fucking actions. they are still two stupid, young ass idiots. aemond survived. now we’ll see what he becomes. ya’ll just like full psychopaths in theory but let them come across you in real life. In the Kenobi series, do you think Obi-Wan should've won against Anakin? From a story telling perspective and it being * his * series, he had to win. But Obi-Wan had disconnected himself from the force for so long and I would assume Darth Vader was in his prime at that point. I understand that Anakin was reliant on his suit for so much too so that helped end things but wanted to know your perspective!

TBH, both confrontations caught me by surprise because until the point the lore was very clear on the fact that the first time Vader and Obi-wan duel since Mustafar was on the Death Star. That being said, because we know they lived to ANH, it was obvious one wouldn’t kill the other. As for who should’ve won: it really could’ve gone both ways.

In terms of powerful, Anakin is much more powerful but George made pretty clear in ROTS that power alone does not win duels. Obi-wan compensates Anakin’s power by focusing on his strong points: knowledge, skill, patience and discipline. That was how he won on Mustafar so it’s not really OOC for him to have won once again.

My only problem with the whole thing was the very ending of the second duel where Obi-wan lifts the rocks. Don’t get me wrong, I believe Obi-wan is a powerful Jedi in full control of force power, but…personally….I like the fact he wins battles by using strategy and wit, not raw power. So, to me, that scene could’ve been done in a way to better illustrate Obi-wan stronger points. Instead of showing “Kenobi can defeat Vader because he’s powerful too” i believe showing how strategy, intelligence, resilience and discipline can be used to defeat evil would’ve been a more resonating message, even if not as visually powerful.

HOTD: Succession is messy and Alicent has a point

I’ve seen many takes all over the internet that Alicent is power-hungry and wants to usurp the throne from Rhaenyra in favour of her own kids. That the Greens have no rights, that Rhaenyra is the heir, that it doesn’t matter that her kids are bastards because they have their claim to the throne through their mother, etc... And I wholeheartedly disagree. 

I do not think Alicent necessarily wants the throne, actually, we are given quite clear indications in the earlier episodes that Alicent did not want Aegon to be named heir ahead of Rhaenyra but she quickly becomes to understand that things are not going to unfold smoothly and it’s mainly due to the patriarchal system of Westeros but also how Rhaenyra behaves as an individual. Early in the show, Alicent is made aware by her father of how ugly the situation could turn out, she also understands that Viserys is not willing to clean up the mess (much of it of his own making), that Rhaenyra is going to act however the fuck she wants and that Alicent can trust neither with her own safety and the safety of her children. Alicent knows shit is going to go down regardless and that she and her kids will die if her side loses.

* DISCLAIMERS: I just want to make it clear that I am pro-absolute primogeniture, I do not agree with the male preference within the patriarchy and overall misogyny of Westeros. This post is not about justifying Rhaenyra being passed over or anything like that. It is more about highlighting that Alicent does have a point and that viewers are short-sighted and unfair when they bash her and judge her action with their 2022 worldviews, completely ignoring the different social structure of this fantasy world and the implication it has for how the characters within it behave. Personally, I am neither really on Team Green nor Black when it comes to who has a right to the throne because... It should be Rhaenys Targaryen, she should have be Queen instead of Viserys... so Team Queen Who Definitely Should Have Been? Or even better, Samwell Tarly’s idea of I don’t kow... democracy? Like a government chosen by the people and not some random dude who happens to be the son of some other random dude but hey... We are a couple of centuries too early for that in this world. Furthermore, this post is mostly sticking to a political cost-and-benefit analysis of the situation and won’t got to much into details about how those characters’ personal feelings and traumas obviously affect their decisions.

Alicent has every reason to be fearful of what will happen once Viserys dies. It was already the case before Rhaenyra had children and it only got worse once she gave birth to obvious bastards. You may think what you want about Otto but he puts out a very fair assessment in the show when he says that most lords won’t easily accept a woman as the Queen, especially when there is a healthy dragon-riding male heir (Aegon) available. There are rules of succession in Westeros but nothing is set in stone and many scenarios can unfold. The judicial system is really more like a set of loose customs rather than organized laws that are rigorously enforced like in our world. The laws of inheritance are not clear cut.  George R.R. Martin says himself that they are “vague, uncodified, subject to varying interpretations, and often contradictory”. So yes... succession gets messy when several people have a claim. 

The ideal situation in this world is to have a strong, healthy and adult legitimate first-born male as heir but when you can’t have that, what is chosen instead? If you know about the lore of ASOIAF, you will see that there are many instances of succession crisis when a choice must be made between different pretenders that all have a claim but none has the absolute best claim (ideal situation above). So what do we choose? The female heir (daughter) or a more distant male relative (half-brother, uncle, cousin, etc), the infant heir who can’t rule or go to war on their own or an adult relative who can, a sickly/insane heir or a healthy relative, the heir with dubious parentage or the relative who is undoubtedly legitimate, etc... There are quite a few messy successions in ASOIAF’s history like the succession of Beron Stark, of Walder Frey, of Aenys I Targaryen, of Aegon IV Targaryen, of Donella Hornwood, of Jeyne Arryn, of Jaehaerys I Targaryen, etc... And most succession disputes involve a lot of people dying. People pick sides and start scheming and fighting and it quickly turns into a bloodshed (the Dance of the Dragons is the most famous one).

In HOTD, there is no first-born male heir to Viserys. So what would the lords of Westeros choose? A first-born female heir (emphasis on the first-born) or a second-born male heir (emphasis on the male)? Viserys might think he settled the matter by naming Rhaenyra his heir, but it doesn’t really mean anything. The lords are technically subservient to the king but in reality, their collective opinion matters more than his individual one, especially once he is dead. I believe Jaehaerys knew that and it’s why he had the lords choose the future heir at the Great Council of 101 rather than declare an heir himself. 

And while I’m mentioning the Great Council, the characters in the show are right to say that it sets a precedent. Rhaenys and her children (which included a boy) were passed over in favour of the next male in line, Viserys. By the very precedent that put her father on the throne, Rhaenyra and her children should be passed over in favour of the next male in line who is Aegon. Without that precedent, Rhaenyra would not even be in a position to be heir to the throne or to fight over it with Aegon because Rhaenys would be Queen and Rhaenyra would be way down the line of succession behind Laena, Baela, Rhaena, Laenor and their “Strong” children (although in a world where Rhaenys became Queen instead of Viserys, Laena and Laenor probably would not have married Rhaenyra and Daemon). If you go against that precedent, then what would stop Rhaenys and the Velaryon to start their own war for the throne since Rhaenyra becoming Queen would nullify the precedent set and actually make Rhaenys the person with the best claim to the Iron Throne. Without that precedent, the Iron Throne ‘rightfully’ belongs to Rhaenys. Now, this could have been solved by the marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon. Rhaenys compromises. She forgoes her claim to the throne and in return her son becomes consort and her grandchild will be the monarch after Rhaenyra. She, Rhaenys, never becomes queen but at least her descendants do eventually get the Iron Throne and a war is avoided. Except... Rhaenyra and Laenor do not have children. Worst than that, Rhaenyra passes off bastards as Laenor’s children as well as Rhaenys and Corlys’ grandchildren (in the world of GOT, it doesn’t matter that Laenor is on board with it, especially since Corlys is still the head of House Velaryon and not Laenor). Because of that, both the Iron Throne (Rhaenys’ birthright) and Driftmark (Corlys’ birthright) will go to the bastard sons of their daughter-in-law (Jacaerys for the throne and Lucerys for Driftmark) who are blood-related to neither of them (in a feudal, patriarchal world like ASOIAF in which bloodlines, ancestry and houses are the most important social institutions, it doesn’t matter that Laenor liked those boys as if they were his, it doesn’t even matter if Rhaenys and Corlys like the boys, they are still bastards that aren’t related to them. Equal rights for adopted/non-bio kids do not really stand in such a social system like it does in our world in 2022). And this is why the betrothal of Jacaerys and Lucerys to their cousins Baela and Rhaena was essential to keep House Velaryon on Rhaenyra’s side. Through those marriages, the Iron Throne still goes to Rhaenys’ descendants through Baela and Driftmark still goes to Corlys’ descendants through Rhaena.

Coming back to what the lords would choose between the two claimants (Rhaenyra or Aegon)... Well, every house is going to take a side based on what they think is “right” but mostly according to which side they believe they stand to gain the most on and which side won’t upset the social hierarchy for everybody else (how many succession disputes would break out all over the kingdom if it becomes acceptable for women to have a claim as strong as their younger brother? Most lords will want to avoid that). And it doesn’t matter if Alicent and Aegon do not want to throne (which was made pretty clear that they indeed don’t really want it). It doesn’t matter if they are perfectly fine with letting Rhaenyra become Queen.

Daenerys said it quite accurately to Jon in the last season of GoT which is (roughly): “It doesn’t matter what you (Jon) want. What will happen went they (the lords) demand you press your claim and take what is mine (the throne)? [...] It will take on a life of its own (the truth about his ancestry) and you won’t be able to control it or what it does to people.” She knew that it didn’t matter that Jon had bent the knee to her and that he didn’t want the throne. The lords and ladies who had something to gain (or even just had a preference) from Jon being on the throne instead of Daenerys will plot to get him there and to get her out of the picture. Similarly, Alicent knows very well that many lords (because of misogyny and because of how recklessly Rhaenyra behaves) will force a war on her sons against Rhaenyra.

Furthermore, she knows that if she lets Rhaenyra take the throne before a war can be forced on all of them, her sons will still most likely die. For the Blacks, Alicent’s sons will always be a threat to Rhaenyra’s rule and they will have them killed even if the order to do so doesn’t come from Rhaenyra directly (it would probably be from Daemon or Corlys or any other advisors who will make sure “accidents” happen to ever prevent Aegon, Aemond and Daeron, or anyone else on their behalf, from pressing their claim to the throne.) 

Rhaenyra does propose marrying Helaena to Jacaerys to ‘reunite’ the Green and the Black but that is also not a feasible option and Alicent refusing it makes sense. As I mentioned above, Jacaerys and Lucerys must marry Baela or Rhaena if Rhaenyra hopes to keep the support of Rhaenys and House Velaryon. Furthermore, Alicent must have known that if anyone still tries to use her sons  to take the throne from Rhaenyra, such a marriage would have condemned her daughter and her grandchildren by her to most probably die (see Elia Martell and her children, they had to be killed even after Robert had won the throne because they will have always been a threat to him).

Really, the only way the Dance of Dragons could have been avoided would have been either to marry Rhaenyra with Aegon (best solution as they would have ruled together and the throne would have passed down to their legitimate son who should have then been married to a daughter of Laena Velaryon, effectively making both Rhaenyra, Team Green and House Velaryon happy) or have Rhaenyra and Laenor actually have a legitimate son that would have married Helaena (different combination, about same result).

Alicent was put in a difficult position in which her life and that of her children would have been on the line no matter what. She could either let everybody uses them as pawns, or take charge of her own side as much as she could and try to get the best deal out of it because everybody else in her life (her father Otto, her husband Viserys, her best friend Rhaenyra) made it clear by their words or actions (or inactions) that she and her well-being are not their priority and that she would always come after them and their interests. She is not a man, she is the daughter of a second son who might be Hand of the King (a title that can be given or taken away on a whim of said King) but is no lord and has no army (unlike say Margaery and Cersei who were the daughters of great lords and had the red cloaks/green cloaks in King’s Landing to protect them as well as brothers in the Kingsguard), she has no power of her own and unlike Rhaenyra she doesn’t have a dragon, she is the Queen but that is really just an honorary status because her husband is the King and it only lasts as long as Viserys is alive. She is in survival mode and it is understandable that she is going to be as ruthless as need be. For all that I support this woman’s rights and this woman’s wrongs (mostly).

With that being said, SM is likely no longer getting updated. I may steal a few stories from SM to put into this AU, but overall it is likely going to be left as it is (I won’t delete it, dw, it’s also on my ao3)

So, introducing: Time Heals All Wounds (will be tagged as ‘thaw au’)

(Yes, there will be noms and G/t in this au, similarily done like SM)

The main takeaways is that Wilbur, Dream (along with XD) and George aren’t main figures/there, and the ‘ending’ didn’t happen.

The only ending that is being used in this au is Q’s because his second death is important to his turnaround in the au.

Lady Death saves Karl from XD’s clutches, which returns his memory and allows him to have all of his powers that come with time traveling. Not only does he not have to keep it secret anymore, but he can also strive to change their fates so they don’t wind up like their pasts and futures.

XD loses his power, and along that his control on Sapnap, Karl, Foolish, George and also Dream. Dream and George simply take themselves and move somewhere more remote, wanting peace and quiet. Punz goes with them and Wilbur already left (good riddance.)

Techno and Phil get involved first, as they are Lady Death’s biggest reapers, and they help Karl develop his powers and cope with getting his memory back all at once. After that, Karl has some trips to make.

Main plot is Karl, (and I quote myself ‘using the power of friendship’) dismantles the governments by trying to make everyone understand (with Techno’s and Eret’s help (as Eret is an immortal being as well and knows how dangerous history is to repeat) that the governments are only hurting everyone and that they can all live in peace together.

Q dismantles his government without even being visited, Slime’s words still ringing hard in his mind and had already decided to take the higher path and try to rekindle anything he had before so his last life could be spent happily. It’s Q trying to find Sap in a dismantled Kinoko that Karl finds him, and immediately apologizes for their fight and explains fully. Sap finds them at some point during this discussion and it ends in a tearful but happy reunion of the fiancés.

Tommy is mainly with the BeeDuo now, but after everyone (thanks to Karl) has a group discussion about what all was wrong and people forcing others to admit their mistakes and apologize for them, he’s seen as what he had become: a traumatized child that needed someone for him, especially after losing his ‘brother’. Techno takes him back under his wing, and Niki slowly, reluctantly opens up to him. She essentially becomes his sister figure.

Only one ‘government’ remained: the Eggpire. And now the entire smp was together to face it.
