Meaning/references behind every Gilmore Girls episode title - Season 2, Part 2
Masterlist: Season 1 Season 2, Part 1 Season 2, Part 2 Season 3, Part 1 Season 3, Part 2
My notes: - As always, please correct anything I've gotten wrong and share your own insight! - Many of these notes are pulled from and/or learned via annotatedgilmoregirls.com - an absolute icon! - Obsessed with Jess kind of mimicking the behavior of the little boy in the A-Tisket, A-Tasket nursery rhyme. Such a cute detail I never noticed. - I've made comments before about how much I enjoy all the parallels the relationships in this show have with the song I Can't Get Started and what a perfect choice it is for this point in the series, even as a reflection of Sookie's optimistic, naive outlook on love. :')
Season 2, Part 2
Secrets and Loans The title is a reference to the 1996 British drama film Secrets & Lies, directed by Mike Leigh. The film is about an adopted woman who seeks out her birth mother and the many secrets and lies involved in the process. “Loans” refers to Lorelai’s struggles to secure a loan to pay for the termite-related repairs on her home. “Secrets” can refer to several stories in the episode - Lorelai trying to deal with her money problems in secret, keeping secrets strategically from her parents, and even Lane keeping her foray into cheerleading a secret from Rory.
Richard in Stars Hollow Richard spends the day struggling to spend quality time with Lorelai and Rory in Stars Hollow, exacerbating his feelings of uselessness after being forced into retirement. Perhaps a reference to the episode title from season one “Emily in Wonderland” where Emily has her own day in Stars Hollow, which itself is a reference to Alice in Wonderland.
A-Tisket, A-Tasket The episode is named for an English nursery rhyme, first recorded in the US in 1879 as a children’s game, sung while children danced in a circle. One child would run around the circle and drop a handkerchief; the nearest child to them would then pick it up and chase them. If caught, the child who dropped the handkerchief would either be kissed, join the circle, or had to confess the name of their sweetheart. The rhyme was turned into a popular jazz standard song by Ella Fitzgerald in 1938. The lyrics to the rhyme are usually given as: “A-tisket, a-tasket A green and yellow basket I wrote a letter to my love And on the way I dropped it, I dropped it, I dropped it, And on the way I dropped it. A little boy he picked it up And put it in his pocket.” It’s suitable for an episode all about baskets, romance, and miscommunication. Similarly to the little boy in the rhyme finding the letter and pocketing it, Jess finds Rory’s dropped bracelet and takes it.
It Should've Been Lorelai Emily cruelly tells Lorelai: “It should’ve been you!” in regards to Christopher seemingly finally getting his life together, but for another woman and not Lorelai as apparently the whole Gilmore family always kind of assumed. Possibly a reference to the 1990 ballad, It Should’ve Been You by Teddy Pendergrass.
Lost and Found A lost and found is a place where lost property is kept. Rory ends up finding her lost bracelet, which was arguably taken and returned by Jess.
There's the Rub The phrase is taken from Shakespeare’s famous “To be or not to be” soliloquy from the play Hamlet. “To die - to sleep. To sleep - perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub!” The origin is the ancient game of bowls (also known as lawn bowling). A rub is some fault in the surface of the green that stops a bowl or diverts it from its intended direction. The term is recorded first a few years before Shakespeare’s time and is still in use. It appears, too, in golf, in the expression rub of the green, which refers to an accident that stops a ball in play and for which no relief is allowed under the rules. It later became a broader term for an abstract impediment or hindrance. The title also cheekily refers to the spa Lorelai and Emily visit to get massages (physically rubbed).
Dead Uncles and Vegetables Luke deals with the aftermath of his uncle’s death. Taylor fights with the proprietor of a new farmer’s market across the street from Doose's Market - hence the “vegetables”.
Back in the Saddle Again To “get back in the saddle” means to return to something after a break or absence, often after some kind of failure or setback. The phrase originated in the early 19th century and referred to cowboys and other professional riders who had suffered an injury, but were now recovered and “back in the saddle” to continue their normal lives. By the late 19th century, it had begun to be used in the more general sense, to mean returning to any activity. It’s also the title of a signature song from American cowboy entertainer Gene Autry. It was co-written by Autry with Ray Whitley and first released in 1939. The song was associated with Autry throughout his career and was used as the name of Autry's autobiography in 1976. Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as fifth of the Top 100 Western songs of all time. This episode is about Richard “getting back in the saddle” as he comes out of retirement.
Teach Me Tonight Teach Me Tonight is a jazz standard with lyrics by Sammy Cahn and music by Gene De Paul, written in 1953. It was recorded several times, most famously by Dinah Washington in 1954. It’s a very romantic “hot for teacher” song, making it clear how strongly the student feels about their tutor – and that their feelings are returned. As in the song, this episode takes place close to the end of the school year - although not literally near graduation. “Did you say I’ve got a lot to learn? Well, don’t think I’m tryin’ not to learn Since this is the perfect spot to learn Oh, teach me tonight Let’s start with the A B C of it Roll right down to the X Y Z of it Help me solve the mystery of it Teach me tonight The sky’s a black board High above you If a shooting star goes by I’ll use that star to write I love you A thousand times across the sky One thing isn’t very clear, my love Should the teacher stand so near, my love? Graduation’s almost here, my love Come on and teach me tonight” This is also the song that Morey plays in S1E3 after he finds Cinnamon, who Babette thought was still stuck under the porch steps.
Help Wanted A sign commonly displayed on doors by businesses looking for staff. This episode is all about Richard finding a secretary for his new business.
Lorelai's Graduation Day Lorelai graduates with a business degree from her Community College.
I Can't Get Started The title of a popular song composed by Vernon Duke with lyrics by Ira Gershwin in 1936. It was introduced in the film Ziegfield Follies of 1936, performed by Bob Hope and Eve Arden. The 1937 version by jazz trumpeter Bunny Berigan went to #10 in the charts and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1975. Sookie chooses the Ella Fitzgerald version for her wedding, which was included on her 1953 album, Sweet and Hot. It’s also on her 1973 live album, Newport Jazz Festival: Live at Carnegie Hall which also includes A-Tisket, A-Tasket, the title of episode S2E13. Lorelai protests that the lyrics are far too depressing for a wedding song, being about a relationship that will never get off the ground: “I’ve flown around the world in a plane I’ve settled revolutions in Spain The North Pole I have charted, but I can’t get started with you Around the golf course I’m under par And all the movies want me to star I’ve got a house, a show place, but I get no place with you You’re so supreme, lyrics I write of you Scheme, just for a sight of you Dream, both day and night of you And what good does it do? In 1929 I sold short In England I’m presented at court But you’ve got me downhearted, cause I can’t get started with you You’re so supreme, lyrics I write of you Scheme, just for a sight of you Dream, both day and night of you And what good does it do?” These lyrics seemingly tell the tale of both Lorelai and Rory’s current relationship dramas. We've been through so much and I can't shake you, but for some reason we just can't make it work. It just isn't meant to be. Another textbook Sookie moment for her to love a song just because of the romantic vibes and unintentionally pick one that feels like an accidental read of her best friend.

Thanks to you, @theskyprism, I'm glad you like it! I think it's time to reveal what franchise is this making a crossover with:
Right, so there's a french franchise that started as a videogame but now it's "transmedia" and that's Kros.moz. Well, actually, that's the name of the universe, the two franchises grouped under this umbrella are Do.fus and Wak.fu. Under the cut there's a long synopsis and thoughts by yours truly:
The Krosm.oz has A LOT of wacky things happening but for brevity, the stories take place in the World of Twelve, named like that since there are Twelve major Gods, which you can pledge allegiance to and recieve.. Sorta their powers but on a tamer scale?
For example, there's this uh. Vampire jock knight God w light/fire motifs called Iop (don't let the desc fool you, he's an asshole but his powers sound so cool) and his followers get similar characteristics and are known as iops. This pattern is followed by almost all of the playable classes.
Dragons are here and they're a Very important part of lore, and some special dragons lay these weird unfertile sparkly eggs called Do.fus. They are tied to an element and if the main six are reunited then you, one of many adventurers trying to get them, obtain some big power/use them to defeat a certain crying ogre that set the world in a cataclysmic state.
Wak.fu is what happens to the dofus world after 12000something years have passed and, like I said, a cataclysm has occured. Wak.fu itself is sort of, like ki, which also has plot relevance.
ANYWAYS, the Kros. moz franchise is uh.. I have a lot of gripes with it, from writing I dislike, questionable.. designs and things that would deserve a bunch of trigger warnings. Also some lore inconsistencies.
However, the lore is incredibly rich, has some very competent and charming writing and designs..! I struggle to explain it, but I do think it has some good things and I'm passionate abt it. I stay in my lane and craft and think abt my own take of the lore and such.
So! Tdlr I like this dumb big franchise so I put it with gg for fun! Each character probably has their own little story in this world. Sol is, indeed, ALLEDGELY an atheist yet has iop features (pointy vampire ears, FIVE KILOMETER SUPER JUMP) and he has no clue why, but there's a lore reason for it. :)
Ironically, Ky's class, the hupper mage, is like.. Atheist BUT according to lore many huppers are religious, idk who'd he worship but it's there haha. Sol is trying to find the do.fus for a juicy bounty and his old friend Ky pokes around, not that different from normal gg.
Also the title especifically being Guilty Omelette has its reason..
I'm not THAT deep into g.o. lore, and I might not even talk much abt it (hell, rn I'm lukewarm abt the kros.moz due to some really bad wak.fu show episodes, so bad I need some rest lmao) but it amuses me and if it can amuse other people then so be it! Thank you for reading this chunk

what do you think are gg's biggest flaws?
Ooh, Anon! It’s like you’re in my head.
I’m busy making a video (that will probably never see the light of day) about this --  my distance from the show has really helped with some super objective clarity -- so I’ll use my notes from that to help me answer.
I’ll preface this by saying what I was most shocked by after putting down all the points was that Rio isn’t even mentioned until really far down??
Anyway, let's get into it.
These are Good Girls' greatest flaws in my opinion (and relative to season 1 -- while I think it had its flaws too, the list is far smaller and I think that's a separate post)
1. It didn't stick to its guns
What set this show apart from others in the 'Everyday person does crime (poorly)' genre was its comedic lightness, strong friendship element, relatability and emphasis on girl power.
a) By season 2, the lightness was already slowly disappearing to make way for season 3's darkness. (Quite literally; this show said sunlight scenes for WHO.) It also stopped being as fun. Remember how it genuinely used to be fun? I mean let's not forget The Best Scene Ever where Ruby shoots Big Mike by accident and we all laughed our asses off. (Compare and contrast to a similar-in-tone-and-context scene -- or even the whole episode -- like Boomer popping up behind them as Rio's package in season 3.) I think season 3 had some great lines and laughs, but in general, the fun element was completely missing for me.
b) As was the friendship. We already know Annie and Ruby basically became Beth's backup dancers in season 2, but at least then they still seemed to have some type of agency. In season 3, they rarely question Beth's (truly questionable) decisions, don't talk to her about shit like why she's still with her horrible husband and have very few true friendship moments as they did in season 1.
c) Which made it less relatable, but what also contributed was the major plot holes (it's less easy to relate when you're constantly having to remind yourself to suspend your disbelief). And, to be honest, their stupid actions. Just the most common-sense things weren't followed, like not taking your children to a crack den or not putting a hit out on a gang leader. It's frustrating watching a TV show -- where characters are supposed to learn things, have arcs and improve over time -- and feeling like you have more logical sense than all the main characters in every scene. (WHO would think a hitman was going to use a sniper rifle on people in broad daylight on the side of the road???)
d) You don't have to look any further than the title or the stans who shout "THE SHOW IS ABOUT THE GIRLS" -- or, hell, the first 10 seconds of the show where Sara is literally talking about the glass ceiling -- to know that the main characters being women is very important to the show. If not formally feminist, it was at least supposed to be empowering or feel like "girl power" (a term I hate, but we won't get into that now).
And I think it did it pretty well in season 1 -- it actually played on my favourite theme of the show, which is the world's perception of these women being what ultimately allows them to get away with so much. (Rife with opportunities for commentary about white privilege, but also a genius way to upend patriarchal beliefs.) But more and more it seemed like the show was asking you to accept empowerment as simply "these things are being done by women, yay".
And, well.
Tumblr media
2. Its marketing
I'll keep this one short because I think we all know how messed up this situation is. Basically they're selling a show (every week!) that they're not making while ignoring all feedback on every social media platform. Which brings us to...
3. The marriage of Death
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times -- Beth's character development starts with getting rid of Dean. Her growth is stunted by him on multiple fronts and it's frustrating to viewers since she's constantly put forth as the main character. Not to mention how the audience, separately from Beth, was originally conditioned to see Dean as the scum of the earth (think of scenes like him crashing his car because he was perving on a woman jogging) so keeping them together is really... a choice. To actively root for this marriage (which seems like what the show wants, at least for the protracted moment) means either thinking Dean is a great person (which, as I said, we've only seen the opposite of) or believing he's all Beth deserves. Which leads me to...
4. Beth's (socio)path(y)
Is sociopath a 'good' word? Probably not. Have I seen dozens upon dozens of posts talking about whether Beth is one? Yes. And I see it from a huge variety of people -- from viewers who just binged the show last weekend to those who've been watching for years, the question keeps coming up. And I entirely blame the writing of the show that, by the way, I don't believe is deliberately creating Beth to get this reaction. I think she's written (and, to an extent, acted) in a way that is much too aloof and I'm not convinced it's meant to come off as cold and unfeeling as it does. Everything else leads me to believe that the audience is supposed to root for Beth, but it's just so difficult.
Beth does a lot of messed up shit that requires dialogue to sympathise with her and the inner workings of her mind, but in the later seasons Beth rarely gets to express herself verbally. And every time she does get to speak about her emotions, the dialogue is a pick-your-own-adventure between "She's in so much denial", "This person feels no emotions" and "I'll go find an analysis/fic later to explain this" (scenes like "Nothing" or "I was just bored"). Compare and contrast with some of the great scenes in season 1 where she emotes, like her paralysing shock after they first rob the store or admitting she enjoys crime, or (one of my favourites!) the one in the park where she's mimicking the other mothers beside her.
5. Brio
I said in the beginning that I was shocked Rio doesn't get mentioned until this point and that's because I've always felt like he was an integral part of the show. When people say the show is about the girls, they're truncating -- the show is about the girls getting into crime. That crime is represented by Rio over and over again -- they never bring in another criminal at his level (which is another one of its flaws, but that's also a different post); Rio is it.
And though I stand by Rio's importance, the truth is that Brio isn't as essential to the show, by which I mean that if all of the above were done well, it wouldn't be as sorely missed. In lieu of riveting plot, a fun friendship, character development and empowerment, most viewers have glommed onto Brio like a lifeboat (or ship, heh).
Unfortunately it's also what the show has most stubbornly refused to develop significantly.
It's honestly a toss-up for why I feel Brio is a flaw: is the flaw that they got together? That they never got together well enough? That the writing keeps bringing in these 'chemistry-filled' scenes that are ultimately filled with air?
I don't know. Maybe all of them; maybe just one, depending on the day.
6. Its criticism falls flat without intersectionality
This is a big one because Good Girls is *trying* to do something very clever. As mentioned previously, my favourite theme of the show is how the women's apparent innocence/vulnerability in the eyes of society is their biggest strength. The show plays with this and other interesting themes with varying levels of success, but ultimately they all fall a little flat when they don't feel intersectional.
When Ruby gets sidelined. When Turner, who sees and all but calls out by name Beth's privilege, is portrayed as the villain. When Rio is told he's gonna "pop a cap" in his young child's "ass". When the racist grandma becomes a sympathetic character whom we must later grieve. (And she really didn't have to be racist, now that I think about it? It was just that one line for laughs and that was it.) When, despite the real-world implications, Dean can loudly announce in a store that he's buying a gun to kill someone with and the show just glides past it. When Ruby has to grovel for forgiveness from Beth for trying to protect her husband and family from the system, with no acknowledgement from Beth about how their realities are different. When Rhea gets booted off the show as soon as she's done serving Beth's plot. When Rio gets treated like a prostitute for absolutely no reason. (Oh, and is accused of raping Beth and is literally spoken of as an animal and starts only existing in zero dim lighting as a one-dimensional stereotype... the list goes on.)
7. PR/The actors
I'll risk my life here to sprinkle this in because I do think it's a massive problem. The Manny/Christina of it all is just the tip of the iceberg (although wtf Good Girls? There's nothing you could do to get these two into an interview together??). The main actors do the bare minimum to promote the show and it's weird. I also think it's the height of unprofessionalism to keep characters on the show against the wishes of the majority of the audience just because you enjoy their actors (Boomer confirmed; Dean highly suspected). While, on the flip side of the coin, limiting a character's screentime because you aren't best buddies with them. Having less and less Rio when he's such a fan favourite is dumb; as is not including him in any series marketing material. It feels personal and that isn't how a TV show should be run.
8. The entire hair and wardrobe department needs a stern talking-to

BJYX Song #8: Brother and Sister
BJYX Song Series List
Disclaimer: My own speculations only.
So after two very sweet songs from gg, we’re back to dd. Dd, why are all your song so sad? Even though we see dd very happy with gg all the time, the songs he chose all reflect his insecurities, especially with age and gender.
The song I want to talk about today is “Brother and Sister” by Easen Chen, one of dd’s favorite artist that he listen to since he was young. Even though the title says “brother” and “sister”, which implies a guy and a girl, on Baidu Baike (Chinese Wikipedia), it says that this song describe a love so pure, it even exceeds gender. It says “它甚至可以是同性的爱情” which translate to “it can even be love between two people of the same gender.” The lyrics is written by a man that’s famous in the Chinese music world for his sexuality and writing songs that speaks about unrequited love in homosexual relationships.
This song was listed on the top of his song list when it was displayed during the ttxs episode that gg was there for. Since the events of Bombology, we know that dd tried really hard to get gg on the show and was mad at him for almost not coming. This allow people to speculate that dd is showing gg this song list, which was full of sad love songs, in order to convey to him his feelings of sadness and insecurities in their relationship. I think that they may be songs dd listen to when ggdd had a period of separation after the filming of CQL when gg wanted to get out of character and figure out how they can be together in the future. I think dd is using this as an opportunity to let gg know how much pain he was in back then. You obviously wouldn’t go up to the person you’re dating now and be like “hey listen to these songs I listen to when we were on a break.” And since he was already pissed from gg’s almost in-attendance, he may be using this to get some attention. We know from gg’d reaction that this is the first time he saw this song list or songs similar to this style from dd. When the list was first shown, he was like “What? This is your song list?” And then later, he asked again, “Is this really your song list? I feel like it’s wrong.” (summarizing) Dd then responded that he has many different song lists. So gg was surprise to see this side of dd. Dd likes to act proud and strong so he probably rarely show his vulnerable side to gg, especially when it’s about their relationship.
youtube
The backstory of the song already tells us that we can interpret “brother” and “sister” to also be between two “brothers.” If anything, I think this is the song that directly refute anyone that likes to say ggdd’s relationship is friendly, just like brothers. If you watch the music video of this song, it’s actually about the homosexual relationship between two girls.
對我好 對我好 好到無路可退 ([You’re] nice to me, nice to me, to a point of no return)
可是我也很想 有個人陪 (But I also really want, to have someone to accompany me)
才不願把你得罪 (So I’m unwilling to upset you)
The first line uses repetition to emphasize how “nice” the other person is over and over again. We can see that gg also treats dd this way, creating a safe space to allow dd to be himself and not getting mad at dd when he’s being stubborn. I’ve analyze before in “If I were a song” that this is the way gg show love to dd and this is the way he thinks he can best love dd. However, I never thought about how dd feels about this. This first line tells us that maybe dd can misinterpret it? He knows gg is being nice and loving to him but it actually makes him feel insecure. Is gg being nice because he treats me like a child? Just like family? Is he just a nice person?
The line “to a point of no return” tells us that dd is completely head over heels for gg, which most of us can see with our own eyes. Here, we learn he know so himself. He knows gg is nice to him and he knows he likes gg. But wants more than that. He was gg to “accompany” him. “Accompany” here means someone to spend eternity with. Dd is saying he desire to never let go of gg. If we assume that he’s speaking about the period where they were on a break in late 2018, then dd is super insecure about where his future with gg is. They spent an entire summer being in an ambiguous flirtatious stage, that may or may have developed into an early relationship. But then gg left him and he feels really hurt. He want to hold gg close forever but he can’t because he loves him too much. That’s why he’s “unwilling to upset” gg. We can see from their interactions and the song “Nan Hai” that dd is actually the one that’s more self-abased and less confident in the relationship. He’s so afraid of not being to provide for gg.
於是那麼迂迴 (So we walk in circles)
一時進 一時退 保持安全範圍 (Sometimes we move forward, sometimes we move back, we stay in the safe zone)
This part of the song talks about how ggdd was during that ambiguous state. They push and pull, testing each other to see how far they can take their relationship. The word “進 (forward)” and “退 (backwards)” before? Yes, they were the same motifs as in “If I were young.” In “If I were young,” knowing when to move forward and backwards show maturity. But here, it’s telling us that even though knowing these limits show maturity, it’s also very painful to be stuck in the ambiguity. For someone as young and straightforward as dd, he must be in a lot of agony. But because of his gender and age, I think dd feels like he must endure this because he can’t be as straightforward as a more socially acceptable romantic pursuit.
這個陰謀讓我 好慚愧 (This scheme makes me ashamed)
享受愛滋味 卻不讓你想入非非 (Enjoying the feeling of being loved, but won’t let you get what you want)
We can feel dd’s agony in this stage. But instead of making himself the victim, he’s actually blaming himself for “enjoying the feeling of being loved” too much. It’s almost as if he feels like he doesn’t deserve this love he has with gg so every moment he has with him, it’s godsent. This explains why dd is so self-abased in this relationship. He feels “ashamed” for wanting more from the relationship so he’s unwilling to let go and allow gg to “do whatever he wants” because he’s scared that maybe what gg wants is just friendship or brotherhood.
就讓我們虛偽 (Let’s be fake)
The word “fake” here has many layers. Because CQL is a BL drama, many people often accuse ggdd as being fake in their relationship as a form of queer-baiting for promoting the show and gaining popularity. So I think the “let’s be fake” can hit too close home for dd because he doesn’t want to have to sell out his relationship with gg but at the same time, if he can use this excuse to be close to gg, should he? This goes the same for their roles as WWX and LWJ. They could use their “fake” persona who are two lovers as an excuse to be lovey-dovey with each other without ever revealing their feelings. We know from all the interviews how much dd wants to separate himself from LWJ but gg during filming sees himself as WWX so dd also struggles with using LWJ as an excuse to get close gg.
有感情 別浪費 (Have feelings, shouldn’t be wasted)
This line is basically giving in to his desire. Dd knows that true “feelings” exist between them and for someone as ambitious as he is, he won’t let any opportunity “go to waste”. We can see from how determined he is about dancing, motorcycle, skateboard, etc. that he would not let anything go. This is also true about his feelings for gg, at least that’s what he wants. However, there is a lot more insecurity when it comes to love and so while dd wants to grab on like he does with his hobbies, part of him is also afraid to move forward.
不能相愛的一對 (Two people that can’t love each other)
親愛像兩兄妹 (Emotionally close like brother and sister)
This goes back to the theme in all of dd’s songs that talks about not being able to be together because of gender and age. Here, even though we’ve established previously that genuine feelings exist, they “can’t” love each other and have to settle for being “brothers.” I think the label of “brothers” is also particularly agonizing for dd because that’s how homophobia in China like to wash homosexual relationship, for example saying that Wangxian’s relationship is just brotherly. So if ggdd can’t be lovers, being “brothers” would be socially acceptable relationship for them.
愛讓我們虛偽 (Love allow us to be fake/hypocritical)
The relationship feels fake because it’s not exactly what dd genuinely wants. They use their roles as actors and Wangxian’s relationship to cover up a lot of their feelings for each other.
我得到 於事無補的安慰 (What I gain is useless comfort)
你也得到模仿愛上一個人的機會 (What you gain is the chance to imitate falling in love with someone)
This echos the first line of the song that gg gives dd a lot of care. But the “comfort” is “useless” because no matter how much gg gives, if they’re not honest about their relationship, dd’s heart will always have a gaping hole that the comfort can never fill. Since dd is uncertain of what gg feels, all he sees is gg acting like he’s liking someone so that’s why it feels like gg is just “imitating” the act of falling in love. We know now that gg does love him but when you’re in a fog of ambiguous relationship, you can never be sure if the other person is in love with love or in love with you.
殘忍也不失慈悲 (It’s brutal but still have mercy)
這樣的關係你說 多完美 (This kind of relationship, won’t you say it’s wonderful?)
These two lines have a tone of mockery. The oxymoron of “brutal” and “mercy” paints the push and pull relationship they were in during filming and the up and down dd must have felt when they were on a break. We know dd is a very blunt person and doesn’t like to beat around the bush. So for him to be in this state, it must be agonizing, painful, and “brutal” so the word “wonderful” is definitely mockery.
眼看你 看著我 看得那麼曖昧 (Look at you, looking at me, looking so “ai mei”)
被愛愛人原來一樣可悲 (Being loved and loving someone apparently is equally pitiful)
I purposefully didn’t translate “ai mei” because to me, there is no good English word for it. It describe an ambiguous state before dating when you’re flirty yet uncertain. When we watch the CQL bts, “ai mei” is the pink flurry bubbles we see between ggdd. Here, the song perfectly describes that state during filming. It also uses “eyes” and “looking” to describe this “ai mei” between ggdd because the most obvious sign of ggdd liking each other in my opinion is the way they look at each other, whether as Wangxian or as themselves. But the next line tells us that while it seems pink and fluffy from outsiders, it’s actually “pitiful” that that’s all they can have, for both parties. I think here dd thinks the’s the one that is “loving someone” and gg is the one that’s “being loved”, establishing an unequal position between them. But I think that they love each other equally and that dd was just too in a mist to see it.
為什麼竟然防備 別人給我獻媚 (Why guard? The flattery others give me)
不能推 不能要 要了怕你誤會 (Can’t deny, can’t want, I worry if I want you will misunderstand)
讓我想起曾經 愛過誰 我所要的她不給 (Let me be reminded of a person I used to love, and she didn’t love me back)
好像小偷一樣卑微 (I was just as pitiful as a thief)
The “can’t deny, can’t want” echos the beating around the bush feeling. You can feel the ambiguous tension in this verse. The song talks about another girl that the singer used to love that didn’t love them back. Here, I’m going to assume that dd just empathize with the feeling and not take it literally. The line “as pitiful as a thief” really breaks my heart. Dd must have felt like the love he was receiving didn’t really belong to him and that every moment he was bask in it, he was being greedy.
The actual plot of the whole song is about a girl liking the singer and the singer didn’t like her back but still enjoy the ambiguous situation they were in. My own head cannon for this song is that for dd, he empathize more with the pain of the push and pull described in the song more than the plot. He’s unsure where his relationship with gg stand. If he listen to this song during late 2018 when they barely contact, he must’ve been using this ambiguous pain to describe the relationship they had during summer 2018. It may’ve been sweet but dd was always in a state of fear of loss. And since he wasn’t in contact with gg, he is also afraid that gg will come back and say they should just be “brothers.” “Brotherhood” must be one of the most painful definition for ggdd because during their interviews in summer 2019, they always refer to each other as “friends” (or “like friends”) and rarely ever use “brothers” because “friends” can imply “best friends” and “boyfriend” but “brothers” can only ever be platonic.
This song was as agonizing to analyze as it was to listen to. But it’s such a beautiful piece. It’s actually really hard not to let my own emotion get to my analysis haha. I will pick something happier for my next one, probably gg’s view again.
Also, happy birthday, dd! This is the 8th song to represent you. The music video also have them celebrating a cake. I hope you have move away from pain and are celebrating with loved ones <3

2, 3, 5 for the fanfic ask!!!! :-*
2.  Which of your own fanfics have you reread the most?
I FEEL PATHETIC FOR NOT KNOWING THE ANSWER TO THIS, STOP CYBERBULLYING ME
3. Describe the differences between your first fanfic and your most recent fanfic.
So i did this one already for first v most recent, therefore: how about second (gg) one (yourself and others) vs. second most recent ((a) time to kill)?!
respectively:
titled for a saying v titled for lyrics
a fairly sprawling multi-chapter v one item (the final one in a 3-part series)
a one-shot that spiralled elsewhere, without much of a plan (it’s kind of a grab-bag of ideas, and me throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks, and i don’t think i COULD write something like it again but i’m very glad i did!) v the first part of this series was a one-shot written without much plan but the knowledge it might start a series; the third part was somewhat planned with the second one (but still all in my head with no notes bc i am a demon)
all beth pov v rio and beth’s pov! (unmarked) pov switches!?!!?!!!!
quite a lot of characters (annie and ruby are in it a lot, im not sure if dean’s ever onscreen but he’s mentioned lol, the kids are there, stan’s in it a bit, amber’s in it quite a bit, turner’s there, there are some OCs who are in it quite a bit...) v basically only beth and rio (and a lil bit of mick, and a teeeeeeeny bit of OCs i guess)
so i’d probs say... wide focus v narrow one?
originally had a conceit (focusing on beth’s relationship with different character/s each chapter, kinda hence the name) which fell by the wayside cos it’s too hard to move the story on like that v a lot of the major stuff i wanted to happen was kinda seeded in with the previous part so even if i didn’t quite have like a planned out plan i knew what major bits i was hitting for sure (also found a way to sneak in weird use of whitespace, as with the previous 2 parts)
in some ways it kind of feels like the show: rio and beth confrontation at the beginning, then he’s not in it that much but randomly pops up every so often and it’s more of beth interacting with annie n ruby et al, and then rio gets to blather quite a lot again at the end v um not like that at all, basically a bottle episode
although it starts a lot about grief and guilt, it ends up as a lighter explanation/resolution of the s2 finale v i guess it’s more about anger and revenge and trauma, and it’s pretty angsty, and it’s more about post-s2 finale resolution rather than trying to explain what happened (i mean it’s set within s3...ish)
no mick bc we didn’t know of him yet (sad times) v mick is clearly the star of the show
while it’s the longest thing ive written, i imagine the chapters are reasonably short? v the longest single item by some way
a lot about films v nothing about films, i think
the past use of hallucinogens is beth’s v cisco n likely mick ha
some beth/omc stuff (though the sex is offscreen, and/or in the past) & beth vaguely engaging with the idea that perhaps she does like the ladies & generally kind of acknowledging that she has never really had a chance to be unfettered and work out what she wants v she’s still married to dean (ew) & she’s not really in that headspace but she’s jealous of everyone else for being more ‘experienced’ & she’s kind of freaked off exploring something with someone else
lots of smoking v no smoking although there was a smoking subplot i’d intended to write in but then couldn’t be bothered
it’s like absolutely a progression to them being in a better place though it’s not exactly a hea v it does progress to them being in a better place but that’s a sort of bubble and when reality re-intrudes it doesn’t seem quite as sustainable
condoms v ....no
kind of a fwb+ vibe v more of an enemies with detriments vibe
reeling off of really terrible pet names v rio calling beth kid which i still think is very funny
Rio stealing Beth’s robe (obviously) v Beth stealing Mick’s shirt
but then there are also some similarities, e.g.,:
gross beth (and rio being really into it)
subplots i meant to write in but couldn’t be bothered (there was supposed to be something about annie getting security footage in yourself and others only to find out it’s all been wiped haaa)
mm, kind of bargaining sex as cheering someone up after you’ve really fucked them off? (which does, in some ways, kinda play out similarly); kind of a hurt/comfort vibe...?
idiocy of all stripes
appalling pillow talk
alcohol plays a role
whole lotta tags
sort of awkward bed sharing (but in different ways)
naked-in-bed beth
pizza, i think?
they both have words?
5.  You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
I’ve answered this one too, but basically i think if i was going to do it i’d at least attempt to be sneaky?! maybe i’d go fullllllll bringlish with the vocab (loads of adverbs! used properly!!! lots of roundabouts and electric kettles and egg cups and mums and arses. GOD COULD YOU IMAGINE???! HOW RELAXING IT WOULD BEEEE????!)
idk though, i guess it’s hard to gauge how distinctive one’s writing sounds? i mean, i write like me bc i’m me, and it’s the way i write. i feel like there’s definitely differences btwn my stories, both in terms of tone and like which things i press on more, but you can probs tell the same person wrote them? but yea, idk if you’d look at, say, the good kind & found my thrill or yourself and others & (a) time to kill [lol loving this completely unnecessary rhyme scheme] without context & clock it????
so i reckon, if i tried, i could dial some things down from like 11 to 5, and other things up from like 2 to 6, and i could write something that mm maybe you’d SUSPECT i’d written but you wouldn’t be like OH ONE HUNDRED PER CENT I AM CERTAIN (especially if i went full omniscient narrator??? or maybe that would be the tip off??? IN CONCLUSION IM NOT SURE)
fanfiction asks although i think i’ve answered most of these bar the maths

Rewatching PLL in 30 Episodes
Even though (or maybe because) I’m not the biggest fan of the PLL ending, I’ve put together a list of thirty episodes of the show that when watched together will hopefully create a concise storyline that makes relative sense. I actually got this idea because I have a theory that the ending of Gossip Girl would make sense if you shortened the show to about twenty episodes (I would make a post about that, but my opinions about the last season of GG are pretty unpopular) and decided to apply the same concept to PLL. The idea is to tie together the first and last episodes, which for PLL are very different. I find it almost impossible to rewatch PLL because a. there are a lot of filler episodes and b. the last episode doesn’t line up very well with the rest of the show. By reducing the show to 30 episodes picked because they create a narrative to back up the finale, you get rid of both those problems. Although there are some plot holes that will never make sense.
A couple notes before we begin:
-I haven’t rewatched most of the show since it ended, although I did rewatch older episodes a lot as it was ending. I might’ve missed a couple important episodes that should be on this list. Feel free to add any in the notes.
-This list probably only makes sense if you’ve already watched the show and just want to rewatch parts of it. There are also spoilers in my episode descriptions.
-There are some good episodes missing in order to create this narrative in this amount of episodes. I would make a list of best episodes, but that’s subjective (for me it’s pretty much seasons 1-3A and 6A). You can give and take episodes to suit your personal preference.
-I haven’t watch this list yet myself. I plan on making a follow up post when I do, but it could be a few weeks.
The actual list:
1. 1x01 “Pilot”
Starting with the first episode, we learn about Ali’s disappearance and “death,” Aria meets Ezra, and A is introduced.
2. 1x02 “The Jenna Thing”
The title says it all. The Jenna Thing™️ comes up in later episodes on the list, so it’s important to learn about. This episode also feels like an extension of the pilot.
3. 1x19 “Person of Interest”
Part of condensing the show this much is skipping over storylines that either don’t get resolved or aren’t very relevant to the A reveals, which is why there isn’t much of Ian and/or the NAT club on this list. This episode is included because it’s setting up 3/4 of the “endgame” ships. A couple scenes in this episode are paralleled in 7B.
4. 2x13 “The First Secret”
You can’t watch PLL without watching this episode. It’s also important set up for 3x13, which is number 9 on the list.
5. 2x25 “Unmasked”
Of course we need to see the first A reveal. Mona’s run as A is important to later episodes on the list, as well as the parallel of her slapping Spencer and her winning the game in the finale.
6. 3x01 “It Happened That Night”
The start of Charlotte’s run as A. Since Charlotte being A is what leads to Alex being AD, Charlotte is a big focus of this list.
7. 3x07 “Crazy”
Charlotte’s first appearance as CeCe.
8. 3x12 “The Lady Killer”
The reveal of Maya’s killer and Toby’s first A Team appearance.
9. 3x13 “This is a Dark Ride”
First hint that Ali is alive. Ties into later episodes.
10. 3x24 “A dAngerous gAme”
Ali is alive, Mona and Toby are kicked off the A team, and ties into 6x10.
11. 4x01 “A is for A-l-i-v-e”
Extension of 3x12, answers about Mona’s work as A, Wilden’s body is found, and Black Widow appears.
12. 4x11 “Bringing Down the Hoe”
“CeCe” is seen in the A uniform spying on Aria and Ezra.
13. 4x20 “Free Fall”
Aria learns about Ezra’s book, which is important for 4x24 and mentioned in 5x25.
14. 4x24 “A is for Answers”
Ali officially reintroduces herself to the liars and gives them some answers about why she disappeared, CeCe is arrested for killing Wilden, and Jessica is murdered.
15. 5x01 “Escape from New York”
Continuation of 4x24 and the supposed death of A.
16. 5x05 “Miss Me x 100”
Return of A, first mention of Bethany Young, and ship stuff paralleled in 7x20.
17. 5x12 “Taking This One to the Grave”
Mona fakes her death and is kidnapped, important for The Dollhouse.
18. 5x25 “Welcome to the Dollhouse”
The Dollhouse is Charlotte’s main A thing and gives clues to her reveal/backstory.
19. 6x01 “Game on, Charles”
Continuation of 5x25 and Sara Harvey’s first on screen appearance.
20. 6x09 “Last Dance”
Leads into 6x10 and sets up where a lot of the characters will be in the time jump. Wine moms reappear in 7x20.
21. 6x10 “Game Over, Charles”
Charlotte’s A reveal and backstory, which is tied to Alex’s AD reveal and backstory. “Answers” for Bethany Young’s death.
22. 6x11 “Of Late I Think of Rosewood”
Start of time jump, Charlotte’s death, and introduction to Elliott Rollins/Archer Dunhill. And the ships are reintroduced.
23. 6x20 “Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars”
Introduction of Mary Drake and Evil Archer.
24. 7x01 “Tick-Tock, Bitches”
Continuation of 6x20 and the first appearance of Alex Drake.
25. 7x04 “Hit and Run, Run, Run”
The cover up of Archer’s death which is important to later episodes.
26. 7x10 “Darkest Night”
Alex impersonating Spencer, Ali tells Emily she’s pregnant, and Spencer finds out that Mary is her birth mother.
27. 7x11 “Playtime”
Continuation of 7x10, start of the game, and Spencer’s mom explains her birth.
28. 7x15 “In the Eye Abides the Heart”
Ali makes a decision about her pregnancy that explains her and Emily’s ending and Ezra catches Alex talking to Wren, although they pretend she’s Spencer.
29. 7x19 “Farewell, My Lovely”
It’s revealed that Mona killed Charlotte in self defense, Mary takes the fall for Archer’s death, the Liars win the game, and general set up for 7x20.
30. 7x20 “Till Death Do Us Part”
The last episode of the show, which will hopefully be more satisfying to watch with only 29 episodes before it. All the ships are wrapped up in pretty little bow, the mystery is solved, less filler means less plot holes, and it’ll only take you 21 hours to watch. Okay, I’m still a little salty about this last episode, but I do genuinely think it makes more sense in the context.
You could definitely include a few more episodes on this list, especially from season seven, but I wanted to keep it as short as possible. Let me know what you think of this idea and which episodes you would add or takeaway.

Note
Considering that the title has officially been revealed as Guilty Gear STR[IV]E (brackets for emphasis), does this mean that Xrd wasn't a Gaiden after all?
It’s not that Xrd wasn’t Gaiden, it’s that it wasn’t “completely” linear canon.
The difference between Gaiden and Canon is that Gaiden is peripheral aspects of the story that don’t necessarily jive with every “linear” aspect of the main story itself.
If you think of Arcade Episodes as having different “results” based on which character cleared the game (i.e. who beat Ramlethal, I-No, or Justice first), then obviously the only result that makes the most sense is Sol’s Episode, which has been the core storyline throughout the series.
Guilty Gear
Guilty Gear X
Guilty Gear XX
Guilty Gear 2
Guilty Gear Xrd
Guilty Gear Str[IV]e
——
“The Missing Link”, was the beginning.  A connection with the evolutionary past.
X was dubbed as a “retake” or an “alternate take” to the original Guilty Gear.  “By Your Side” implying Sol was not alone in the world and didn’t have to suffer alone as the “Guilty” Gear.
XX was a “retake of a retake”, so similar events were happening that were related to the original story, but had their own nuances.  The Midnight Carnival, a chaotic celebration of mischief. (Which was followed by a Reload, the Crossing of Swords [Isuka], a Slash-up, and the Core Adjustment [Accent Core Revision])
GG2 was the “Second Missing Link”, the prelude (Overture) of bigger events to come.  This led to the “Unseen Sign” and a look at the “Vast World of Edges” (VastEdge).
Xrd Sign was “the third retake” and is more strongly connected to GG2 than the first GG was, and was followed by “The Merciless Revelator” and it’s “2nd Revision” (Rev2).
Str[IV]e is “the fourth retake”, meaning it is connected to the third, but also to all previous and acts as the “largest retake” so far (a soft reinterpretation of all previous works).  But because there is no X… it may even hold an even greater significance to the first two “Missing Links” (that is to say, there is no more retakes, no taking things back anymore, no more mistakes).
All “X” games are “gaiden” because they “orbit” the main story, and while they are still part of the main story, they have different routes, where only the characters themselves bear the most canonical weight and significance.
There is, however “Canon within the Gaiden” (parts that are linear and apply to the main story canonically), called “Gaiden-Canon”, like the Novels and Drama CDs.
All characters involved have importance, but the stories they’re involved in may get reinterpreted with each subsequent “retake”…
I hope that explains how it works!
Outside of Arcade Episodes, the main “story” of Guilty Gear Str[IV]e will most likely have “Canonical Weight” as part of the main story.

Meaning/references behind every Gilmore Girls episode title - Season 3, Part 2
Masterlist: Season 1 Season 2, Part 1 Season 2, Part 2 Season 3, Part 1 Season 3, Part 2
My notes: - As always, please correct anything I've gotten wrong and share your own insight! - Many of these notes are pulled from and/or learned via annotatedgilmoregirls.com - an absolute icon! - I just KNOW there must be some more specific reference with "Keg! Max!"... anyone have any ideas? Perhaps also with "Happy Birthday, Baby"...?
Season 3, Part 2
Lorelai Out of Water The title is a twist on the familiar idiom, “fish out of water”, which refers to someone who feels awkward or uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment. The earliest known use of the phrase comes from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1483, and was about someone riding a horse, which they weren’t used to. In this episode, Alex asks Lorelai on a fishing date, which she knows nothing about and gets Luke’s help with.
Dear Emily and Richard Through a series of flashbacks, we see how things played out for teenage Lorelai when she learns she’s pregnant and eventually leaves her parents’ house suddenly with baby Rory, telling them in a letter that presumably begins with “Dear Emily and Richard…”
Swan Song
A common metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement, referring to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime. The belief, whose basis has been long debated, had become proverbial in ancient Greece by the 3rd century BC and was reiterated many times in later Western poetry and art. This is of course jokingly referring to Jess getting “beaked” by a swan.
Face-Off In ice hockey, a face-off occurs at the start of each period, or to restart play. An official drops the puck between the sticks of two opposing players, who are then said to “face off” from each other in order to gain control of the puck. This episode has a hockey game as its focal point as well as several characters having “face offs” with each other, or efforts to gain control of their situations - Rory running into Dean and learning he’s moved on with Lindsay, Rory confronting Jess about his disrespect of her time, and Emily outing Trix’s affair with the tracksuit man.
The Big One“The Big One” is an informal name for World War II. It’s also a commonly used name for an anticipated megathrust earthquake along Western North America or Japan. It’s an appropriate name for this episode where several big important life events happen for multiple characters - Rory and Paris compete for the honor of speaking at Chilton's Bicentennial, Sookie and Jackson learn they are pregnant, Lorelai runs into Max and reignites old feelings, Paris has sex for the first time with Jamie and melts down on national television when she fails to get into Harvard, and Rory's college acceptance letters finally arrive. Lorelai says “You got the big one,” referring to the fact that acceptance letters come in big envelopes, whereas rejections come in small ones.
A Tale of Poes and Fire A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of fantasy novels by American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. The stories depict a violent world, largely without magic and dominated by political realism. The title references the Society of Edgar Allan Poe fans staying at the Independence Inn when it suffers a fire.
Happy Birthday, Baby Happy, Happy Birthday Baby is a 1957 song written by Margo Sylvia & Gilbert Lopez originally performed by The Tune Weavers, who had their only hit with this song. This episode marks the one and only time Lorelai’s birthday is celebrated on the show.
Keg! Max! Lane’s band plays their first gig at a houseparty and she somehow drinks enough cheap beer from the keg to get drunk for the first time. Lorelai continues running into Max and pushing his boundaries. It’s common for young people to yell excitedly about kegs at parties.
Say Goodnight, Gracie This line is spoken by George Burns in the TV show The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (1950-1958). Actors George Burns and Gracie Allen met in 1922 while they were both touring on the Vaudeville circuit. After falling in love and getting married, the two developed an act together—George would play the straight man and Gracie his silly and illogical wife. By the time they brought their act to TV in 1950, the two were a huge hit. The end of every show became a catchphrase: George and Gracie would come out and do some jokes until it was time to close the show, when George would turn to his wife and tell her, "Say goodnight, Gracie," and she would simply reply, "Goodnight." Thanks to Gracie’s ditzy delivery and the hilarious chemistry she had with George, this line became iconic. Presumably this title is referencing the ending of Jess and Rory’s relationship and/or his time in Stars Hollow
Here Comes the Son This episode title is a play on the song title Here Comes the Sun by the English rock band The Beatles from their 1969 album Abbey Road. It was written by George Harrison and is one of his best-known compositions. The lyrics reflect his relief at the arrival of spring and the temporary respite he was experiencing from the band's business affairs. In this episode, Jess leaves Stars Hollow to try and form a relationship and a new home with his estranged father in Los Angeles.
Those are Strings, Pinocchio Rory strikes a new deal with her Grandparents for more Friday night dinners in exchange for her Yale tuition. Lorelai warns her of the implications or “strings attached.” “Rory, honey, do you understand, the Gilmores do nothing altruistically. Strings are attached to everything.” “There are no strings.” “No strings?” “No. I just have to pay them back starting five years after I graduate and I have to start going back for Friday night dinners.” “Um, hello, Pinocchio, those are strings.” The Adventures of Pinocchio is a famous children’s novel written by Carlo Collodi in 1883. Pinocchio is a wooden marionette puppet operated by literal strings.

Alright GG Fam, Here’s a Theory:
So we got played again by the NBC promos because they keep showing the bar/drink scene but that apparently happens in 2x9 -- not in 2x8 coming up this Sunday.  Also, Wikipedia is now showing that this season has only 10 episodes when before it was showing 13--and the finale was titled “KING”.  I am very confused and if someone has an explanation for this I’d be happy to hear it.
Now then.  My theory is based off of the instance where we only get 10 episodes instead of 13.  We know Ruby has been compromised by Turner. We have also seen Turner raid the dealership.  We also have seen Beth looking really hurt and disappointed with Ruby.  So clearly Ruby spills the beans.  We just don’t know the outcome of anything else.
We’ve also seen Beth in her yard in the 2x8 promos with holes dug up all around her and Rio and her discussing something about not always shooting people in the face.  So clearly something has to have happened where she’s discouraging him from doing/suggesting that.
So here’s what I think will happen:  Say we only are getting 10 episodes instead of 13, then Dean’s mission to get a hit put on Rio is leading up to a climax this season finale.  Maybe they were going in a different direction until the season 3 renewal changed their minds, I don’t know.  Anyway, maybe he takes the money in the yard to pay the hitmen.  Maybe that’s why the ladies look so bummed all huddled together.  Maybe because Turner is hassling Ruby and Stan, Dean isn’t backing down and is becoming a loose cannon, the raid at the dealership and the lost money causes Beth to seriously question whether or not she can continue.  Not when it’s hurting her friend and certainly not if Dean gives her an ultimatum.  Because Dean is a jackass, but he knows a LOT of their crimes and can take her kids from her if they go to court.
Maybe she decides to go crime free permanently.  Hence the drink/bar scene in 2x9.  She’s telling Rio she’s going legit.  She’s saying goodbye. Maybe she tells him she learned a lot from him and he saved her when her world was literally crumbling down around her. That he showed her she could be STRONG on her own merit. With her own agency. And that she will never forget it.  That’s the reason she’s looking at him with such fondness. And the eye fuck scene with the drink could just be their attraction is blatantly showing.
Maybe she leaves and goes to run a few errands and when she gets back home, Rio is in her bedroom.  Maybe he says he’s not ready to say goodbye yet--not without a kiss first.  Or something. Because the scenes we've been seeing...the kiss looks so gentle, so precious.  I think she kisses him FIRST. That gentle kiss we’ve been seeing-- and he escalates it to get more hot and heavy.  I think they will sleep together again.  This time in her bed.  To maybe get their attraction out of their systems or whatever (which won’t happen, but hey they can dream right?). And it would explain why 2x9′s title is “ONE LAST TIME”
Afterwards he leaves and something happens where Ruby and Annie need money and go to Rio, but maybe he wants to sever ALL ties to Beth and doesn’t help them. This causes them to rob the loan place. Maybe Beth finds out and decides to help anyway.  Maybe she also finds out Dean has placed a hit on Rio and goes to warn him.  Maybe just as the hitmen are trying to kill Rio, Beth screams a warning and gets shot instead OR she sees them and pulls Rio’s gun and ends up shooting someone for the first time.  Maybe it’s that second scenario, because we still have a promo shot where Rio is wearing a hat and caresses her face that we haven’t seen yet. Maybe she goes and meets him “one last time” and spots the shooters and ends up killing them instead - saving Rio’s life.
Both would be a hell of a finale.
What do you guys think?
Edited to add:  I have a lot of personal messages and asks to get around to. Haven’t forgotten ya’ll, I’ll get to you soon! :D

Do you think the effects of Barry pushing Iris away in the last episode may still be felt going into next week? I kind of got the sense that the scene in Ralph's office was meant to hint at that (otherwise why not just show Barry packing up without any appearance from Iris?). And in the 4x19 promo it almost looks like they're both a bit on edge (even in the scene where Snart and Barry are leaving the cortex and Iris is at the console).
I didn’t notice them looking on edge with each other in the promo, but I’m sure they’re generally stressed given the circumstances. As for there being effects of him pushing her away or not, we will find out in a few days. I think it makes sense for them to have a conversation about how they’re in this together, as a refresher for the final showdown and juxtaposition against the Devoes. But I don’t think it’s gonna be any kind of extreme angst.
½ I get that people weren’t happy with that last WA scene, especially since it was over Ralph of all people, but some of the reactions I’ve seen from other wa fans have been a bit over the top. Not only are there people now insisting Barry doesn’t love Iris as much she loves him, I’ve also seen a few fans call him abusive. I don’t know maybe it’s because WA has had the least amount of drama out of all the couples I’ve shipped, but as much as I didn’t like the scene, it didn’t bother me as much2/2 as it bothered other people. I do hate that sounds like him pushing Iris away is going to continue though, but I guess it has happened every season in some way or another. On another note, I’m really hoping that them having Barry (& the others) having trouble dealing with Ralph’s death doesn’t lead to a twist where he ends up alive again. Though I suspect that’s exactly what will happen since the writers really seem to love him for some reason.
I’m thankfully blessed to have avoided most of those reactions. Like I said before, it’s not my favorite scene but I don’t see it as wildly OOC or even that terrible on Barry’s part. The music and poor Iris’ face made it hurt my heart, but I think Iris knows Barry is dealing with the loss in his own way. I do hope that next episode points out that it’s a loss for Iris too, because I think that’s where the fan discontent stems from. It’s more about Iris not getting to be comforted and supported as much (although she has been a lot more this season, and I’ve loved it. see 4.01 - 4.03, 4.10 - 4.11, 4.16) than it is about Barry asking for space.
But you’re right that WA is the most drama-free couple I’ve ever shipped, and I’m sure they’ll have a talk about supporting each other soon. As for Ralph being alive again? It’s definitely gonna happen in the finale, no doubt about it. I just hope he leaves the show after.
I feel like barry regressed as a character last episode in s2 when his dad died he opened up to iris immediately now ralph dies he needs space? they are married now barry needs stop this nonsense it’s getting annoying your wife was just stabbed and you’re asking for space? And ralph (ugh) was iris’ friend too but whatever terrible writing again
To be fair, Barry also asked for space at the end of season 2. And then he quite literally created it by running back in time and saving his mom. The difference here is that he didn’t give Iris a long speech justifying that space, probably because it was only going to last the duration of his packing.
This is his default move when he experiences a setback, though. We agree on that.
Given that they actually gave Iris a sling that she’s still wearing next week, instead of brushing her stab wound off as if it was nothing, do you think her injury have a storyline or at least a subplot?
I’m sure it will be brought up, and it also shows not much time has past so the latest loss is still fresh in their minds.
So Grant is filming tonight and it looks like Candice’s stunt double is too. I’m intrigued by how much her stunt double appears to be in the finale so far.
Yeah, Candice wrapped for the season at 4am today. Her stunt double (@rochelle_okoye) was filming something last night, but I’m not sure if she specified Flash. Either way, Candice filmed a nice chunk and I hope she gets a cool scene like this week’s again.
Looks like Grant, the Danielle's, Candice, and Candice's stunt double were all filming last. I'm intrigued by why her double was there.
I wonder the same. We can assume Cecile will be important to the battle against the Thinker because of her mind-reading powers, and we can also assume she will give birth. So my guess is they were filming one of those two things yesterday. Or both, lol.
So even in death, we’ll somehow won’t escape Ralph. GG mentioned in an interview that Barry will spend the next few episodes repressing his regret on Ralph’s death.
LOL, we will never be free. But in all seriousness, it makes sense that Barry would be affected.
Personally for me, I don’t like it when Barry goes on his high horse about the morals of killing. It’s like he’s saying killing is black and white with no grey areas. I know it’s suppose to make him moral superior and special than the other heroes in the Arrowverse but I can do without it sometimes.🤷🏾‍♀️
He did say “It’s not self-defense if you’re already thinking about it,” so  he gave his grey area there. He’s certainly never tried to make Joe feel bad for killing anyone as a cop or Iris for killing Savitar.
But I totally get that a lot of people find this side of superheroes to be silly, and I think Flash could explore it a little better than they do.
Barry has so much of his own story in the comics. If they didn’t give him so much of Wally’s story, then maybe they wouldn’t feel like there’s nothing else to tell. Why do I feel like amateurs are running this show? Lol
Because most active fans feel the creators of their favorite shows are amateurs, no matter how experienced they are. But there’s still Barry story to tell, and I’m guessing they’ve been holding off on it. Tornado twins next season, though, I believe!
@eboniangelvibez said:
2/2 When and how will the team discover they’re being watched? Will that factor into WA’s move? How will Marlize escape DeVoe? Will it involve The Weeper and Amunet Black? How will Team Flash find out that The Thinker has been drugging his wife? Since Ralph is the final bus meta consumed by DeVoe can they get him back? When will the symbols that Barry and the Mystery Girl we’re writing be revisited and explained?
I definitely think that they’ll discover it before the finale, just don’t know when. Maybe episode 20 because the title parallels 7, which is when Barry first suspected they were being watched? I imagine Team Flash will discover the drugging first and hopefully Iris will be the one to convince Marlize to leave.
I think they will save all the bus metas, but they will save Ralph at the bare minimum. I don’t know if the writing will be explained this season, unless it’s connected to defeating Devoe. Otherwise, they’ll wait until next season.

July’s Five Fashion Finds
Tumblr media
Photo by Suzy Hazelwood from Pexels entitled Spool of Purple Thread Near Needle, Thimble, and Measuring Tape.
For this week’s post, I have rounded up my favorite internet finds on the subject of fashion, from this month. I have included an article that touches upon fashion media, a video that sums up a few decades of fashion in a convenient short length format, a nostalgic glance back at the infamous of the show Gossip Girl, a noteworthy ad campaign, and an informative discussion about fashion during the “Space Age” and more. I hope that you enjoy these finds, my takes on their content, and the insights provided by the creators of the content discussed here.
1. Chantal Fernandez, “How Hearst Makes It Work,” published by The Business of Fashion on July 23, 2019.
In this article, Fernandez breaks down the many challenges that print publications are facing today, and strategies that may be used to contend to these issues now and in the future. Ultimately, I do feel that both digital and print media can co-exist, because both offer benefits to consumers. Below I have weighed the pros and cons of each form of media.

Benefits of Print:
In my opinion, print still possesses traits that cannot be replicated in the digital experience. Personally, I have noticed that when I read articles purely online, I can tend to forget about what I have read. I comprehend and remember news stories better when I am physically holding the printed material. Online there are many distractions such as pop ups, videos that automatically blare once you get onto a page, and links to other articles, that I feel interfere with the comprehension and the focus on the material. Online articles can be convenient, but I feel it is harder to recall specific online articles we have read because the internet is very saturated. Personally, I tend to recall only those that have some form of analysis, such as those I read in The Business of Fashion, that require the reader to mentally take part in the article, so to speak.
Benefits of Digital Content:
However, digital content also has benefits, despite these cons. Digital content from many sources is easier to manage, because you can have so many different sources stored on one portable device, which I will admit does save one’s back from carrying around too many books and magazines. Additionally, the various forms of media within the digital realm makes it more multi-dimensional, which can hold a reader’s attention. Finally, related links that pop up, while sometimes an annoyance or a distraction, can be helpful if one wants to find related articles to read afterwards, which can enhance one’s knowledge of a particular subject.
2. Zoe Hong- Fashion History:1900-1920
I personally am a huge fashion of fashion history related videos on YouTube. I was surprised and glad to see that one of favorite YouTube fashion content creators published a video on fashion history. I find this video to be a brief, but highly effective summary of fashion from the  1900-1920. I particularly liked that Hong drafted a timeline for the content she discussed. I feel that it can be difficult to sum up more than one decade of fashion in a short video, but based on my experience of being in a fashion history course, this video really touched on all of the important people and significant developments. I also  highly recommend the books that she featured within this video, which she includes in the video’s description.
3. Lynn Yaeger, “A Vogue Editor’s Guide to the Best Fashion on Gossip Girl,” published on Vogue.com on July 22nd, 2019. (Edited by Anny Choi).
When I think about what may have inspired my love of fashion, there are a few things come to mind. For one, I had a penchant early on for dress up, and I was one of the more extreme appreciators of this activity. Another factor that I feel contributed to my love of fashion was the film Titanic, for which the costumes held my attention just as much, if not more than Leonardo Dicaprio. Finally, one of the biggest influences on my love of fashion was the television series Gossip Girl. While the drama on the show was fascinating, the clothes to me were the centerpiece. I particularly felt drawn to the wardrobe of Blair Waldorf. I loved the mix of modernity and classic pieces in her wardrobe, and seeing the playful or strategic styling of her looks. I will forever be influenced by her more ladylike looks. Lynn Yaegar of Vogue.com discussed her favorite fashions, and those of her fellow editors, from the original series, on the heels of the announcement of the series having a future reboot. Additionally, the article then features a curation of modern pieces that can emulate these original GG looks.
4. Gucci’s Fall 2019 Ad Campaign
To  begin, Alessandro Michele always has fantasy, over the top, entertaining qualities to his work for Gucci, as discussed by Alyssa Vingan Klein on Fashionista.com. The shoot highlights the construction process of garments, as detailed by Vingan Klein. A fashion presentation within a fashion presentation, is also part of what makes this advertisement, as Alyssa Vingan Klein describes, a “...somewhat educational-- story through it’s ad imagery….” Mekita Rivas of Refinery29 explains that this presentation depicts the fashion industry, prior to the ambush of fast fashion and the influence of content from the digital realm, with specific focus on following the ready-to-wear industry “... from the 1950s to the 1980s….”
Additionally,  Rivas details that in a Gucci Press Release, the brand states that part of the goal of these advertisements was to help gain appreciation for the processes that go into making a collection. Personally, I feel that this campaign is an important reminder that fashion is a serious business that like any involves a lot of players, steps, and attention to detail in order to function and fulfill tasks. For an industry that is often not recognized for its significance, and the hard work that goes into its finished products, I am glad that Gucci has created a campaign with this consideration in mind, as detailed by Rivas and within the brand’s press release. I also feel that this advertisement campaign reminds consumers that while the designer’s are often the ones credited with a fashion product, there are many people involved in making garments. In today’s world, where online shopping is common, consumers may forget how many are employed in making the garments they wear.

5. Dressed: The History of Fashion podcast, “Space Age Fashion: an interview with Sara Jean Culbreth,” published on July 23rd, 2019
On this podcast episode, hosted by Cassidy Zachary, April Calahan, and featuring Sara Jean Culbreth, there is a discussion about fashion during the time of Space Age excitement. Pierre Cardin is a major player included within the discussion of this contest. Additionally, there is a major component of the discussion that revolves around the transitional phase of the coexistence of haute couture and ready-to-wear. It is interesting to ponder the significance of each and the tug of war between the two. For another work that goes into discussion about haute couture and ready-to-wear, check out the book The Battle of Versailles: The Night American Fashion Stumbled into the Spotlight and Made History by Robin Givhan.

One year in review
That’s it! The OH IT’S BEEN ONE YEAR post is here!
The closer my first anniversary was, the more excited I got, and the more thoughts I gathered for one “summary” post. Now that it’s time, suddenly, bam, all of them gone. :’> *wipes sweat*
Recently I had someone asking about my progression and how I managed to get there (???? where? derp). Well, I guess, I could just start telling about my first deeds in GW2, and then see if I can add something.
This might or might not be relevant, but I come from Wakfu, a colorful 2D game with turn-based combat. It’s cool visually, but also has terrible management issues, lack of developer care, one of the worst customer supports ever, list goes on.. I played it since 2012, and year by year, only grew angry, disappointed and hurt. That was like an abusive relationship I couldn’t get out of. I refused to try different genre and engine games. Finally, @aketan / @flame-squad / Rika got me lowkey interested in GW2 (she was commenting expressively while playing, and I peeked over her shoulder), I decided to try it. And stayed. Migrating to a real-time 3D game wasn’t easy! Yet, it was my lifesaver decision. GW2 has everything that I wish was there in Wakfu. It took me several months, if not a year, to get fully “healed”, to recover from the bad game and start believing that good games exist. When I had to contact GW2 support, I was touched to tears.. Everything and everyone is so nice here.
That wall of text was a foreword! Or explanation why I’m so excited and grateful about every aspect of GW2.
I started without putting too much thought into the char creation, as a result, now I have yet another main whose name is literally foreign language swearing or pun. GG me. After having been completely lost and confused by the controls (I LITERALLY ran backwards and yelled), after having a short but comprehensive lesson from bff, I started derping around on my own. I think I was only guided until lvl 5 or so, then my buddy let me do whatever I want. I come from a sandbox-wannabe game so it didn’t take me forever to get comfortable and set my first goals. Of course, I had a shit ton of questions, which I didn’t hesitate to spam Rika with. It’s cool to have someone ready to explain you the basics and patiently show you things. :D My several first days, or even weeks, were intense. I didn’t rush levels, but was eager to see the world. It was so amazing to me that I was spending 8-10 hours a day, running around, completing maps. I started in Metrica but quickly wandered away to Caledon (”oh! a portal?!”), where I spent a handful of time then.
With such a desire to discover and observe, and after having seen the title you’re awarded for 100% world map completion, I set it as my first ultimate goal. I approached it rather seriously, and had an incredibly fun time, at least until I had only Orr left undiscovered. x’D As a squishy (and slow, and dumb) ele, I was frightened and a bit discouraged by the amount of, well, deaths here. If I recall correctly, I still wore yellows at that time, although I was 80. Rika helped me and accompanied me for a bit. Orr was tough and I legit cried out of anger and frustration when I was alone, but that was the only unpleasant moment in entire year, and only because I wasn’t good at the game yet.
In the meantime, I was leveling my first alt, human engi. Do you actually remember that f2p accounts only allow 2 chars? Later, after buying HoT, I finally got loose.
They say, you always remember the place where you finished your first world map. For me, and oddly enough, for Rika, it was Field of Ruins. We reached the last POI at the same time, and, boy, did it feel great. My first big accomplishment. It dropped like.. Like a norn fart in a moot (c) Jory \o/ I still use the title btw, “been there, done that”. \o/
Then, there was a relatively dull period before buying HoT. I focused on doing my personal story, maxing out my alt and getting into crafting. The latter quickly became addictive to me. It’s so smooth, fun and exciting in GW2. Artificer was my first discipline, and after getting the hang of it, I breezed through 100-500 in a single day’s course.
That’s what the progression of my first 4-5 months looked like! I still was f2p, did only open world content and had one person to play with. I’m my own boss so it’s up to me to decide if I want to spend 30 minutes or 8 hours ingame.
HoT was a blessing in every aspect possible! I never regretted buying it, never regretted taking my time and not buying it earlier though - I needed that f2p scrub time to learn the basics, and to appreciate all the convenience and QoL improvements that come with HoT.
That’s where the real game starts, if I could say that. Core Tyria is by all means amazing, but you can go only this far if your account has those market and mail restrictions.. I used to enjoy playing market in Wakfu (while it was still alive) and I was excited to try it in GW2. When I bought the expansion and got my account fully functional, I got some skins and dyes ahead of all, then proceeded with crafting since I was really addicted to it and excited to max all the disciplines as my medium priority goal.
GW2 is encouraging altoholism! So I found myself leveling a third character (tried revenant and didn’t notice how I got her to level 20-ish and it was too late to delete), then fourth, fifth, then more char slots.. You see my weakness. I quickly realized the perks of having alts: storage, gathering, alternative personal stories, so on. When you’re an altoholic, plus you have yet to finish gearing up your main, plus you can barely hold yourself from leveling another crafting discipline.. RIP GOLD. I never had more than 30-100g at that time period.
Since market and wealth are one of my biggest passions ingame, I learned ways to earn me some coins, one by one. It’s not that hard if you’re a patient gatherer like me. Just run around, chop trees, collect ore and herbs.. I enjoy it so much, maybe it’s grind for someone, but I find it relaxing. Also it brings you gold. \o/ I found a few niche crafts that I could keep making and selling, then got familiar with market flipping, still not doing it like “big daddies” do, I might be too inefficient and lazy at it. But still, I found my own stable sources of income. Not gonna lie, the game just seems to like me and spoils occasionally. I don’t wanna brag, but there was like 4 precursor drops for me, 2 from mystic toilet, 2 practically dropped from the sky. I might be a little luckier than the average player. But that’s well deserved given how much suffering I had in Wakfu. :’D
When we talk about luck, we can’t avoid mentioning gambling. I learned about mystic toilet quite early, but never was a slave to it. Tarrktun has a bit more power over me, but I’ve never lost too much, only gained little by little. Black Lion Keys are the most evil gambling aspect if you ask me, I’ve spent quite a bit of money on those, though sometimes got nice things in exchange. Either gold to gems or gems for real money, I don’t mind spending it on Anet since they very, very well deserve it.
Given my passion, patience and luck, you must think I should be filthy rich by now.. Hah. :’DD Sadly, I’m just as good at spending as I’m at earning! I blew a lot of money on my own “needs” and “wants” and “why not”s, I keep investing into long term sales, I also often buy gifts for my buddies, mostly Rika. Money comes, money goes. GW2efficiency says my account is worth 14k gold currently. Not a bad progress for a year, I suppose.
So.. My biggest interests and playstyle are gold wars, fashion wars, altoholism.. I became quite a lore geek, completed PS, LS2, available LS3 episodes & most of current events, most of HoT? I should finish it but I procrastinate for some reason.
My current achievement number is 7610, mastery rank is 129 iirc. I’m not a casual derp anymore, but still too afraid to fail in front of strangers so I don’t really do dungeons or fractals. I mean I DO, when my bff literally holds my hand and goes there with me, then 3 strangers vs two of us is tad bit less scary. My combat skill, my reflexes and reactions are rather pathetic, even if I got significantly better after HoT and LS3 maps. I must train more, so recently I made a tanky character to practice, I hope to get good enough to clear story mode dungeons and low level fractals alone. Maybe I’m being too hard at myself, but combat skill has practically the biggest influence in this game, so I must git gud, at least acceptable, so I don’t feel ashamed to play with other people and don’t let them down. :’D
I’m a pve trash. Tried WvW and don’t mind coming here again, but not too much. PvP is a big no-no. Just.. Not my thing. Never. Not with my current skill and mindset (people = stress).
I’ve still got a mind-boggling amount of things to do. Personal goals, mere achievements, secrets and mysteries I’m yet to uncover, lore things to read. Maybe I’ll play GW1 one day, if there’s ever a discount sale. \;w;/ I’m super curious about every tiny bit of lore, also want some skins that are exclusive to GW1. That pleasant, sweet feeling that there’s so much interesting things ahead. I will take my time and never grind anything to frustration, for example, I’ve been working on my first leg, Sunrise, on and off and I’ll wait several months more, until I get all the clovers from the monthly chest. I don’t sweat it and just enjoy the game however I see it. Feelsgoodman.
I hope I managed to answer that person’s question, how did I get where I’m currently? Just took my time, learned my own pace and enjoyed every minute I spent online. Love the game, and it will love you back. \o/

Why the Supreme Court has decided not to hear a transgender rights case
IT WAS set to be the biggest Supreme Court case of the term: a transgender boy’s legal battle to use the boy’s bathroom at his school. But on March 6th, the justices called off an oral argument that had been set for March 28th in the case of Gloucester County v GG. In lieu of a decision on whether Gavin Grimm, a Virginia high-school student, has a right to use the bathroom that matches his gender identity, the Supreme Court issued a dry, technical one-sentence order: “The judgment is vacated, and the case is remanded to the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit for further consideration in light of the guidance document issued by the Department of Education and Department of Justice on February 22, 2017.”
Mr Grimm’s story began in his first year of high school. Biologically a girl but feeling like a boy, Gavin struggled to concentrate at school. After being diagnosed as gender dysphoric, he began living as a boy and the school made accommodations for him, including permission to use the boy’s bathroom. This arrangement worked well—and peers were supportive—until some parents objected and the school board intervened, mandating that “male and female restroom and locker room facilities...shall be limited to the corresponding biological genders”. The American Civil Liberties Union came to Mr Grimm’s aid in his lawsuit against the school board. He lost at the trial court but won a favourable judgment from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in April 2016.
The decision from the appeals court deferred to the Obama administration's interpretation of Title IX, a civil-rights law from 1972 that bars sex discrimination in federally funded schools. “No person in the United States”, the law reads, “shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education programme or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” The impetus for Title IX’s passage was an educational landscape deeply divided between men and women: in academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities, school policies and budgets strongly favoured men. Later, Title IX was invoked to handle sexual harassment and misconduct on college campuses, and, since 2013, has developed into as a legal basis for protecting the rights of transgender students.
Of the dozens of amicus briefs prepared for Gloucester County, a filing from several members of the Obama administration explains most clearly how the concept of sex discrimination came to be interpreted as enveloping the treatment of students based on their gender identity. The departments of Education and Justice were “called to investigate numerous complaints of discrimination against transgender students in schools between 2013 and 2014”, the brief reads, and officials found these episodes to be widespread. One incident in California involved “the suicide of a 13-year-old boy amidst allegations of gender-based harassment”. Others included students who were “harassed, some almost every day for years, because of their failure to conform to gender stereotypes”. Female students were called “manly”, “guy” or “he-she”, and male students were called “girl” and admonished to “act like...you’re a guy”. Most alarmingly, the investigation turned up examples of school-children who were “subjected to physical assaults because of their nonconformity to gender stereotypes”. In response to these findings, Barack Obama’s Education and Justice departments “determined that discrimination on the basis of gender identity was included within the ambit of these laws forbidding sex discrimination”.
In January 2015, federal officials sent a letter to schools nationwide explaining that Title IX “encompasses discrimination based on a student’s gender identity, including discrimination based on a student’s transgender status”. The letter required schools to treat students in line “with the student’s gender identity” and, among other things, let students use the restroom that matches his or her gender. Relying on this letter and finding its conclusions reasonable, but without undertaking its own full analysis of what Title IX requires, the Fourth Circuit ruled last year that Mr Grimm was entitled to use the boy’s bathroom at his school.
A legal whirlwind ensued. Following the Fourth Circuit’s ruling, a district court put an injunction on Gloucester County’s biological-sex bathroom rule—and the Supreme Court, in August 2016, stayed that injunction while it mulled whether to hear the case itself. This meant that Mr Grimm had to begin his senior year without access to the boy’s bathroom. Then, in October, the justices accepted Gloucester County v GG onto its docket and, at the beginning of last month, scheduled it for oral argument on March 28th.
But in the interim, on February 22nd, the Trump administration issued a new guidance letter to the nation’s schools abandoning Mr Obama’s interpretation of Title IX. The previous reading of Title IX, Mr Trump’s letter said, lacked “extensive legal analysis” and failed to “explain how the position is consistent with the express language of Title IX”. Without offering a counter-analysis of its own, the Trump administration noted only that it had “decided to withdraw and rescind” Mr Obama’s guidance “in order to further and more completely consider the legal issues involved”.
This letter is what scuttled Mr Grimm’s chance to make history as a high-school student. The Supreme Court could have forged ahead and tackled the fundamental question of whether Title IX should be read to protect transgender students. It even asked the parties to the case to advise the court on what it should do in light of the revoked Obama-era guidance on which the Fourth Circuit court relied. Both sides urged the justices to keep Gloucester County on its docket, though the school board suggested delaying the oral argument so the United States solicitor general could weigh in. Ultimately, the justices opted for the path of least resistance—not a surprise, given their tendency to proceed with caution on hot-button political issues—and sent the case back to the Fourth Circuit for a fresh hearing in light of the executive branch’s new stance on Title IX.
What happens next? Mr Grimm acknowledged on March 7th in a New York Times op-ed that his case “will not be resolved until after I graduate”. But the fight for transgender equality “is bigger than me”, he wrote. After the Fourth Circuit weighs in again, the losing party is certain to appeal to the Supreme Court. A year from now, it is quite likely that nine justices will take up the question eight justices sidestepped this week. Until then, school boards and states are free to police where America’s students go to the bathroom—without having to worry about individuals whose gender identity leads them to another door.

XPWEW Friday Night Pyro (7-17-2020)
XPWEW Friday Night PYRO
Episode: 435
Channel: VICE TV @ 10PM EST
Location: The Barracks in Los Angeles, California
(Friday Night PYRO Intro)
- THE SET enters accompanying Jake Awesome (in ring gear) who's ready to answer the challenge he accepted that All Woman wanted a 1 on 1 match against him tonight under the stipulation he had both hands tied behind his back during the match which he reluctantly accepted to his chagrin. Some may think All Woman is crazy for challenging the near 7 footer to a match even Halo adorned injured All Man was apprehensive to her challenge but here we go. Ruckus, Myron, Kotto, Jordan, Siaka & Chirssy Rivera all join him outside the ring donning the chain pendants Jake gifted to them last week, shining gleaming 24 karat gold chains .
- All Woman enters confidently and defiantly with a Singapore Cane in her hand and she walks to the ring like a samurai ready for battle with her husband The All Man behind her telling her "You don't have to do this, Please re-think this decision. All Woman doesn't break her staredown with "The Mammoth" and steps in the ring. Referee Kevin Madrox will be officiating this unique contest. Referee Kevin Madrox then presents the rope and ties both wrists of Jake Awesome behind his back and Jake obliges with no issue and even asks Madrox to pull on the rope to test the tightness. Jake even hollers "Fair" across the ring towards All Woman and she remains silent. Jake then turns over to The Set all standing at ringside behind Jake snickering a laugh. All Man is at ringside wearing his Halo back brace.
(On the July 3rd edition of Friday Night Pyro in response to Jake getting The Set's Myron Reed & Kotto Brazil a tag team title shot, He effectively threw All Man off the stage which resulted in a spinal cord injury. That explains why he is in the brace. All Man & All Woman had to relinquish the XPWEW Tag Team Titles last week)
The match begins with Jake playing mind games with All Woman for a brief moment but as soon as the bell rings All Woman whacks Jake Awesome with the cane off his chest and off the top of his back. Jake eats the shots and shakes them off with ease all with a sick smile on his face. She hesitates in shock for a second then starts whacking him at the top of his head. Slowly. Whack. Whack. Whack. Whack and after the fourth stiff shot on the head Jake then big boots All Woman over and knocks her backward. All Woman falls outside the ring, Jake with both hands tied gets a running go and hits a signature Suicide Dive over the top rope with both his hands tied which is an amazing site in it's own right as he floats like a Gisele over the ropes to the floor and connects on All Woman. He then rolls back into which she follows and lays in the corner of the ring, Jake presses his boot into her chin downed in the corner bottom turnbuckle and starts violently stomping her stomach over and over until she starts coughing in agony. At a certain point All Man can't watch his wife get trampled any longer and he gingerly walks up the steps all the while wearing his Halo Neck Brace, He is able to stand up right in the ring. Jake salivates looking at All Man who slowly steps forward up to Jake and Myron Reed & Kotto Brazil of The Set roll in the ring at this point surrounding The All Man. Jordan Oliver runs in and with a pocket knife cuts the rope holding Jake's wrists together. Jake then stares up the All Man's brace. And in one of the most shocking moments in Friday Night Pyro history Jake then grabs the Halo and violently shakes it and shoves All Man over, All Woman from behind goes to attack and Jake hits a devastating clothesline then picks her up for the Awesome Bomb and the 1-2-3. All Woman then starts coughing up blood from her mouth. Such a gripping segment. Jake Awesome is a sick bastard for his actions tonight on the former XPWEW Tag Team Champions.
(Jake Awesome has both hands tied behind his back)
XPWEW International Championship
M1: Jake Awesome (c) (w/ The Set) def. All Woman (w/ All Man)
As The Set walks up the ramp Romeo Roselli walks past them and acts like he's about to deck Awesome but The Set stares him and Romeo sees the numbers game is not in his odds, Romeo then runs down to the ring with the EMTs as they assist All Man and All Woman and give them urgent medical attention after that malicious assault at the hands of the XPWEW International Champion: Jake Awesome (what a insane moment)
Backstage: Doxy Deity is complimenting a woman that we can not see because of the camera angle. "You proved yourself as a solo talent the other night but now it's time to give you that Network TV debut. This is gonna be good y'know for the culture haha Viva La Raza"

Nearly the same result as last week's 10 minute challenge, Audrey dominates the majority of the match but this time Priscilla simply outlasts Audrey and after the match Priscilla goes for a handshake but quickly pivots and grabs Audrey's crotch (reminiscent of Mickie James and Trish Stratus at WM22) then slaps Carbine.
- Joe Gacy then comes down and slaps Carbine in the face, Carbine slaps Gacy, Gacy slaps Carbine, Carbine slaps Gacy and they go back and forth forever until the music of THE SET's Jordan Oliver hits

Siaka Lexoni: Joe Gacy & Audrey Carbine y'all weird, y'all very very very unusual infact but listen everybody move different all I'm saying is you best move out the way because at ALL OR NOTHING. James: "Leonard, You've never fought Golden Bryce one on one. What are your thoughts tonight?"
Leonard: *spits in tobacco cup* "What kind of a STUPID question is that, What do you think my thoughts are James? Latest hip hop album 'HOT' from J.ReaL Hip Hop
via Game Music 4 All
There is a lot of fire on this album. I guess that explains the title. I bumped music from this album on a past SUBCON episode. If you watch/listen to my SUBCON show, then you'd be way more on top of these dope game inspired emcees. The track 3rd, with that opening Mario Kart reference definitely grabbed my attention. The very on-the-nose hook on Yu-Gi-Oh is too over the top not to enjoy. Hit play!
