1,267 paint chips
I have had more than my fair share of decorating fails. The most recent, a blue paisley fabric on a couch.  A benign, conservative choice. I thought to jazz things up, to make the fabric seem more vintage-y, more trendy, more lived-in, to knock back the formality of the paisley, I decided a raspberry piping would be just the thing.  When the upholsters came into the house to deliver the newly…

Iconic companies. That’s one of the reasons I like vintage collectibles, especially Zippos. For decades, Zippo graphics included logos and images associated with companies. These were given to customers and employees. Think of them as advertising swag. Here’s an example. Glidden Paints 1954.
Glidden was founded in Cleveland, OH in the late 1800s making varnishes for carriages, wagons, pianos and furniture. From the late 1940s through at least the 1960s, the company gave away advertising Zippos. I’ve seen green, red and blue paint on the etched logo.
I think of it as an iconic brand Zippo. There are a lot of them around and as a Clevelander, I always like finding them.

The Biggest Gossip in Miami?
Tumblr media
It’s truly amazing that Larsa Pippen would run around Miami and tell everybody that Guerdy Abraira has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
It was literally six hours after Guerdy had told her to not say anything. However, Larsa might have been in shock and Guerdy is a fast talker.
She might have lost that detail in the heat of the moment. And how can you calm down from news like that?
If Larsa didn’t have a party in her penthouse that same day, she probably wouldn’t have told anyone.
That’s what I would like to think, anyway.
At Larsa’s party Alexia Nepola showed up with Todd Nepola, and it seemed like they’re doing damage control…
All of a sudden they blame Adriana de Moura for making him uncomfortable with his wife’s party?!
Why would he then insinuate to Adriana that there’s marital issues instead of being honest with her?
He hasn’t been afraid of shying away from his truth in the past.
And agreeing with a messy housewife that something might be off in the marriage isn’t exactly helping his wife either.
No, Alexia and Todd are doing damage control, and their energy seems very… off.
Speaking of being off though… The women think Lisa Hochstein is talking too much about Lenny Hochstein.
He’s an asshole, we get it!
According to Marisol Patton Lisa’s new boyfriend Jody Glidden is a saint for putting up with her never-ending ranting and complaining about Lenny.
It was a little sad that her kids weren’t allowed to enjoy pizza night.
Her frustration with Lenny is leaking into her time with her kids, and while she’s talking about the formative years of her kids, her mind seems to be elsewhere.
Lenny agreed to providing child support, but Lisa wasn’t happy with the amount she got.
That’s a little weird to me, but Lisa is very spoiled.
But it was really sweet seeing Guerdy meeting Julia Lemigova and Martina Navratilova for an honest conversation about the cancer treatment ahead of her.
And I can’t wait for Julia’s opera surprise for Martina. It’s going to be interesting.

"Pathfinding team presenting flag to Mayor Martin Behrman, New Orleans, 1912 Glidden pathfinding expedition"
The "Glidden Tours" from 1904 through 1913 were cross-country reliability and endurance runs for early automobiles. The 1912 route was Detroit Michigan to New Orleans. Before paved highways, cross-country motoring was difficult; top automakers entered cars in the Glidden Tours to show they were up to the challenge - not all made it, but successes were bragged about in advertisements.
Martin Behrman, one of New Orleans longest serving and most significant mayors, seen at center with the flag. The location is probably the portico of Gallier Hall. Note the water on the floor - it was a rainy day.

Augustus Post, at the wheel of a White Steamer, arrives in St. Louis from New York City after traveling a distance of nearly 1000 miles over 2 weeks during the first Reliability Tour sponsored by the American Automobile Association in 1904. The first to test automobile endurance and reliability over long distances, a trophy was awarded to the first finisher by industrialist and automobile enthusiast Charles Glidden, and later became known as the Glidden Tours. Drivers faced a variety of horrendous road conditions and equipment breakdowns, as well as sabotage and booby traps along the route courtesy of rural folks resentful of the wealthy and their toys.
