I like What if but I feel it isn't pushing it enough, or is it?

I feel it's mostly just showing us fave characters in amusing and wacky scenarios, like they put names and words in a title generator and see what shows up and figure crazy scenarios like for example Thanos being redeemed by T'Challa and showing him being "cool" even tho slightly deranged but I don't feel it delves into actual what if scenarios that have plagued marvel fans through out the movies.

I just think it would be slightly more interesting to see some ideas closer to the storyline, feeding into actual what if scenarios marvel fans have made, don't take them too much at heart, these options are mostly just to capture my point

1. What if Captain America had signed the Sokovia Accords?

2. What if Captain America had sacrificed the Vision before Thanos arrived?

For the first scenario, everyone says Cap was to blame for Civil War because he was too hard-headed to see beyond BUCKY and himself and not about others, okay fine, so What if he had? Would the Sokovia Accords would've really helped? Would Bucky really would've been better off? Would the enhanced people would've? What if what Steve said happened and they refused to deploy them where they were needed or somewhere they didn't want to? Or maybe it was a good option and why. We don't know but we would like to know and see

For the second, I've seen some say Steve was at fault because if only he had agreed to destroy the mind stone before Thanos arrived, the blip wouldn't have happened, so ok, what if he did? What if he agreed? Honestly Wanda would've gone batshit at anyone trying to hurt Vision but let's say Steve managed to do what Vision asked, Wanda honestly would've killed him probably but would that solve things? Could Thanos work around it? What would he have done? Would everything really be saved? Maybe it did maybe it won't and honestly idk how it would end up but that's the point of a What if

3. What if Peter Quill had killed Gamora? Or what if Peter hadn't wavered when confronting Thanos?

Peter did promised to Gamora he would kill her before Thanos used her and he broke his promise by trying to kill Thanos except Thanos wouldn't allow it anyway because he needed her, what if Peter had kept his promise? What if he shoot Thanos to distract him by his gun but really was aiming to kill Gamora with a secret knife for example? What would've happened then? Would he go for Nebula?

I remember a few also blamed Peter for getting too caught up asking about Gamora and that he was also to blame on what happened in the Blip so what if they had succeeded in killing Thanos there?

Don't take these examples at heart, I'm just saying them as stuff that's been debated over marvel fans, What if doesn't have the gust to go against their own canon and show us real What Ifs that I've seen marvel fans debate and that would be interesting to see their own spin of it

Maybe the outcome isn't as flashy as What if shows and maybe that's why they don't do it because the point is to be wacky and not so serious, maybe too is that what if is to just let our imagination fly and allow fans more scenarios to imagine and run wild on.

Also I do consider they also don't do it because people have created their own opinions and stans on some things so is best to leave them because the moment they show it, some will view it as the "canon" way such as for example:

"If Cap had signed the Sokovia Accords it would've gone exactly like he said it would and they are trash" would've given "canon" confirmation that "Tony Stark was wrong and Cap was right all along" making it easier for people to trash Tony or "Team Tony", even if in canon they did trash the Accords, it's a throw away easy to miss line and we never really see them be put in action but also... What if they actually worked? What if they showed it was a good option just like Tony said? What if then?

And btw speaking about Tony...

4. What if Tony achieved his dream of putting a suit of armor everywhere?

Would it be good to have a suit of armor everywhere? Or would it have created an actual Civil War with Cap being against the robots and turning Nomad and doing his best to destroy them? Would Tony eventually see how it wouldn't be good to have an army of robots checking your every move? Would it eventually get out of hand and he'd end up having to team up with Cap to destroy them?

But he didn't want just a bunch of robots, he wanted A robot, A robot that would make the Avengers be useless because they would fight the battles for them, so "they could go home". So here's another one

5. What if Tony had created the Ultron he wanted? Would it be good or bad?

Technically we do have a "good Ultron", that being the Vision but both Ultron and Vision acknowledge that even if Vision was his "good" form, it isn't what Tony had envisioned (ha, pun intended), Vision has too much agency and can't be controlled by Tony and it shows when Vision get humanized by his love for Wanda.

But lets say he succeeded and "good Ultron" has kept peace for years, think of marvel movies conflicts and Ultron just effectively solves it, but what if we go to Cap 2?

What if Ultron kills Bucky?

For Ultron, Bucky is a criminal and a threat and upon appearing to kill Nick Fury, the bots save Fury but are adamant on killing The Winter Soldier, let's say they do, what then? Or maybe they don't because let's say they don't kill criminals, either way you bet your ass Steve would go against Ultron to save Bucky even if Ultron adamantly believes Bucky is a threat.

What if Ultron has kept peace for years but upon arrival of Thanos he takes Thanos side?

What if he had gone wacky after all those years? After Tony has had to tweak so much of him say for example the Bucky situation being so confusing for Ultron because yes he's a criminal but actually he didn't want to, and also that applies to Black Widow, yes they where evil but they where brainwashed and forced to do it so yes to some but not to some.

The program Ultron is already confused and upon Thanos arriving he decides to side with Thanos

What if...?

Listen at this point I'm just throwing sentences left and right but I hope my point is coming across and if anyone would like to add any more what if I'd be more than happy to see what other fans would actually like to see in What if.

Also I don't want y'all to take my scenarios so seriously but if anyone wishes to discuss or contend or expand or even rage about any of my made up scenarios, then that's great! Because that's exactly my point.

What ifs are supposed to be able to open debate, open discussions and delve deep into the stories and characters and that's what I feel is lacking in Disney's What If.

Disney's What If only shows us cool scenarios and iterations of characters but doesn't really dig deep into what ifs that marvel fans have made over the years

I understand if they don't want to get into arguments with fans so yeah I understand but I also feel it's mostly being cowardly of them and What if is simply an excuse to recycle characters and rebrand them to sell them again to us and honestly it is working, I love what if, I am excited to see whatever they show up and I'll eat it all up, I want to see more Steve because there won't be anymore coming after endgame and seeing him in other iterations is excited, I miss Bucky too and I also want to see him as well as other characters so yeah it works.

But either way, I still feel that "What If" title falls flat in what really could've been and on what I, naively most likely, believed it could be

i feel like your...optimism, let's call it, is what attracts them to you in the first place. even as blood and gore splatter in front of you, as shrill screams fill the air, you always seem to be as chirpy and positive as ever.

admittedly, your mannerisms and personality probably flew right over soldier's head at first. he's oddly oblivious when it comes to things like that. it takes him time for him to pay attention to you as a person entirely, but eventually, he does. his appreciation is a little simple, finding you to be a very brave american citizen, whose smile just so happens to be very pretty and constant. matches your shimmering smile tenfold, especially as something horrible is happening.

your shining personality happens to catch zhanna's attention fairly quickly, however. she found it very admirable how positive and cheerful you could be no matter the situation. and even despite your bright personality, you weren't too talkative, nor were you a crybaby. you didn't need to be coddled, and she appreciated that.

it wasn't long before soldier and zhanna started to have discussions about you, about how they would pursue and woo you, and how they wanted you to be an addition to their relationship.

how they court you is actually very straightforward. they are both very blunt, honest people, and the thought of dancing around the bush is just silly to them. not to mention they are both basically each other's cheerleaders. if one has a chaotic thought, the other will suggest something even more batshit crazy and it just carries on from there.

so it's very easy they probably asked you out in a very chaotic way. probably asked if you wanted to go kick some maggot ass and you said hell yeah and they just claimed you as their partner from there on. not that you were complaining.

how it all came to be aside, i do feel like they genuinely adore you. you're their little sunflower, and they would die for you in a heartbeat. would also kill someone for you if you asked.

the way your smile glows so brightly makes them so warm and fuzzy inside. it's such a constant thing to them now, that if they didn't see you that day - say because of a mission or because you hadn't come out your quarters yet - they'd feel so deflated. of course, they adore each other's smiles, but there's just something about yours that makes them feel so lovely and cozy inside.

missions are basically dates where you all just kick ass. <3

but there are other things too that don't include violence. like snuggling up on the coach or the bed and watching movies while eating dinner and/or snacks.

or going out to drink during the weekend. the best times are when none of you remember what happened the night prior. <3

everyone's at least a little bit afraid of you three, but they couldn't ask for anything more.

( Btw I will never say it outloud to make everyone paranoid and come up with other crack theories about how Rose could still be there deep within the gem) Also she didn't care he almost died. Then she blushed and everyone forgave her.

Cartoon Network AND Rebbeca: Oh by the way we didn't say it anywere or advertised it but that was the last episode of Steven Universe. We are gonna make another series but it won't be the same.

Cartoon Network and Rebbeca some months after that: We making a movie that will have no impact on canon whatsoever and the fandom will go absolute batshit crazy over some magenta stretchy gem, the fandom will be demonizing Rose Quartz once again. Haha

Meet the Robinsons

I don’t really know how to review this film. It’s one of those things where events just happen. They’re strung along by a plot that refuses to explain what’s going on because it wants to save that for the ending ‘twists’ but the twists are so obvious, you’d think they’d have come up with something more interesting, so it’s like a lot of waiting around until you get to the reveal that you know will eventually happen.

Like the rest of the films in this era, this film has been kind of swept (understandably) under the rug. Interestingly, though, it’s got an interesting story behind it. Around this time is when they incorporated Pixar into the mix. This film, btw, feels more CGI than Chicken Little does, but still feels like really early Pixar, and the animation kind of fell flat for me. Despite the aesthetic of bouncing from the 50s to the 50s-version of the future, it feels like it was created in a sandbox and the world just doesn’t feel any bigger than the small area that they stay in (while in the future.) Anyway, I digress. When the Pixar guys got the film, they scrapped over half of it. And like Emperor’s New Groove - the whole thing became retooled.

Unlike Emperor’s New Groove, I’m not sure that something fully entertaining came out of the retooling.

I feel like they went with this one and said -- well, let’s just go with the quirky characters and let’s not worry about the rest and just get it out there. And they did that. In some ways this film is a step up from Chicken Little, however it lacks the batshit crazy third act that I actually came to enjoy by the time it was happening. This one, while having some bizarre and even some nice moments, kind of feels a little bland as it juggles along.

This story is somewhat a reverse of Back to the Future -- a genius orphan (oh Disney) is brought to the future by his son and gets to experience having a family. Meanwhile, in the attempt to get him back to his present, they’re thwarted by an incompetent evil dude in a bowler hat (which I’ll get to in a second.) Lewis, the main character, is spending so much time focused on the past that he doesn’t realize just how awesome his future is going to be -- or at least that’s the schtick.

Now, the family is supposed to be these really quirky people -- and they are, but they’re also really, really weird. To the point, if you think about any of them long enough, you start to see that they all have some serious mental illnesses, and kind of stop being so quirky-cute.

Meanwhile - the villain is terrible at being a villain. Which is kind of an interesting take when you realize that’s what they’re going for. There are some parts of his story that go on too long (the pacing is a bit wonky in this one) but it’s one of the few refreshing elements of this film.

So anyway, the premise isn’t that bad - my biggest issue is that if the main characters had any kind of conversation at the beginning, none of the rest of the plot would have had to had happened. And it’s a bit frustrating. This film takes logic and throws it out the window. This kid, who is so important to all of them, and is almost eaten by a dinosaur, and yet when they figure out who he is, no one makes an effort to actually help him get back to where he’s supposed to go. On top of that ,no one really seems concerned about missing time machines, or random dinosaurs that pop up out of nowhere.

Even when coming into the future, Lewis isn’t, like, awestruck at the future-ness of it, and still having too many issues about wanting to go back into his own past.

Also the ending, the ending is fine, and a great ending of a better movie -- it’s a bigger emotional moment, that’s sweet and would be moving if I had cared much for anything else that happened before it.

I don’t really have any other additional thoughts except for talking frogs that acted like they’re from a 40s mob film were featured, and I appreciated that.

Final Thoughts: This film is deeply flawed, and I think indicative of Disney’s lack of direction during this time period -- but still much, much better (and more watchable) than Sword in the Stone, Dinosaur, and Home on the Range.

I tried to go for some bands that aren’t as completely well-known as well as some popular ones. I even tried to add some albums I’m fond of for those that I can tell the difference with! Breakdown and song recs under the cut!

(U don’t gotta for the meme, I just like talkin abt music lol)

Going by rows, we’ll start with Gorillaz. They’re usually the band I mention if someone asks my favs because I’ve been with em since their first album. All of their albums are really good, but I think I’ve had the most fun with Plastic Beach! Humanz is probably my next choice followed by Demon Days. An underrated song from Humanz is Out of Body!

Daft Punk is another group I’ve been with since Discovery, which is quite frankly still one of the best albums out there. Everyone loves One More Time and Harder Better Faster Stronger but one of their overlooked songs that I’m fond of is Face To Face!

Nine Inch Nails.... SIGH. Gotta be that edge, right? But let’s be fair, I’ve gone to the past like 5-6 concerts they’ve put on, I can’t say I’m NOT a fan lmfao. No fav albums since again... 5-6 concerts. That’s 5-6 album drops. They’re all so good. Not to mention I love Trent Reznor... One song I’d say doesn’t get as much attention as the rest is God Given. (But again... Ow the Edge)

Studio Killers! Hello! The band Tumblr has babied up since they first started... I even cosplayed as Cherry for the one con I went to haha. Everyone knows the Ode to the Bouncer, Jenny.... But the most absolute BOP that I’ve fallen in love with the instant I bought their album was Friday Night Gurus. Just WAIT til the chorus, okay!!!

Scissor Sisters start the next row and like... What can you even say about them. I’m surprised they aren’t more of a thing here on Tumblr, their music is so catchy and bouncy and they sing about the wildest things, not to mention I’m pretty sure most of the band is LGBT in some way! While I try to aim for the more vague songs, Don’t Feel Like Dancing is my jam morning noon and night. (Also just LOOK at that video!)

In This Moment was actually a surprise get for me. I first got to see them opening up for another couple of bands and they absolutely stole the show. If you can ever get the chance, see them in concert!! I describe her as the Lady Gaga of metal- her outfits are fantastic and she’s got some hella backup dancers! As for songs, the list goes on... Whore, Blood, Black Widow... But here, have her singing with Judas Priest in Black Wedding. Yes, another edgy band but it’s metal, what do you expect.

Janelle Monae’s entire Dirty Computer album is fantastic and if you haven’t watched the little movie she’s shot to go with it, go do it now! It’s on youtube, what are you even waiting for!! We all love Pynk, The Way You Feel, Crazy Classic Life... But not gonna lie, Americans still gives me chills when I hear it. Not only is it a bop but Janelle def doesn’t shy away from Shooting Shots.

Beck lmfao. I honestly wouldn’t have thought to add him if it wasn’t for the concert I managed to get tickets to not long ago. His concert was PHENOMENAL, not to mention this new album of his was so fun and catchy... I just can’t help now but to say I love him. Not to mention his older hits like Where It’s At and Loser... Colors and Up All Night are so good but the song that blew my mind in concert and I had to get the instant I got home was Saw Lightening.

Des Rocs actually popped up on my Pandora and I had to look him up! Not only do I dig the whole look and aesthetic (black leather jacket wearing greaser guys? Hell yea) but I absolutely do love the sound. It’s got this retro rock feel and like... If you could Bang a Voice, I’d def choose this one lmao. Let Me Live/Let Me Die was the one that started it for me... But don’t miss out on Used To the Darkness either!

Mitski... It actually took me a few times to get onto this Tumblr train but once I got there I wallowed in it. Most of her songs are on my Sad Bitch Hours playlist but you know what? I’d describe listening to her music as sort of cathartic, I can lay down and stare at the ceiling listening to Mitski for an hour and somehow feel rejuvenated. I think Geyser was actually the one that got me into liking her, but Pink In the Night and Strawberry Blonde of course are good.

Florence and the Machine is kinda in the same playlist as Mitski, but I do absolutely love a lot of her songs. Many of them make me rather emotional (My work started playing Hunger and I nearly teared up at the register? Wtf?) but I think that’s kinda why I dig it. Dog Days Are Over is gonna always be my most favorite of them, but if you want one I don’t see many others chatting about, go for Cosmic Love. Big God is also a wonderful video if you haven’t seen it yet.

I’ve already talked and mentioned the Dead South in a previous post, but man do I love these boys! People talk about Gothic Cowboys and boy do these guys deliver. Their songs can be about death, adultery, literally losing your mind, so many other sort of dark topics but with such a catchy tune! Long Gone is a song that I get stuck in my head quite often!

Gogol Bordello... Wow, there’s so much I can say about this band. I believe the lead singer is from the Ukraine, his pal on the fiddle is from a country I cannot pronounce, he has twin backup dancers that are Swedish-Chinese, he has a guitar player from Honduras- this really is just a rag-tag group of people from all over the place making some fantastic music! I was lucky enough to see them in concert and their energy is off the fucking charts, I absolutely adore this group! Most people learn of them from Start Wearing Purple, one of my faves tho has to be When the Trickster Starts A-Pokin’... Also they performed with Madonna once? Hello? (Also I’m in love with Sergio’s fiddlin tbh)

Sofi Tukker is another artist I stumbled upon while listening to Pandora. It seems like many of her songs have a different style than the others, but they’re all so very catchy and have a wonderful energy to them. Speaking of... The song that got me into her best was Energia. I literally cannot listen to this song without moving a little to it, it’s such a poppy and fun song! For an English song though, try Best Friend. (Batshit Crazy is one I find funny too!)

Gold Fish was one I actually had to dig for at the time- one of their songs was playing in the background of one of those shitty Kia Hamster commercials lmfao. It was SUCH a bop even in the commercial that I had to find it! (It was Fort Knox btw) Again, as a lot of my poppy choices here, there’s such a good energy and upbeat sound to everything they do, it’s wonderful listening to. I actually love putting these guys on when doing chores around the house, it’s fun and gets the energy flowing and makes things a little more enjoyable! One that I also love to turn people towards is Get Busy Living. If you can’t tell between these two songs, they’re actually a sort of DJ-ish band- different vocalists and different sounds mixed in, but it’s all very well done!

Jain, another found treasure from a commercial... (Makeba was in a Levi’s commercial lol) I was reading that she was born in France, went to live in India for schooling, and wound up in South Africa to learn different musical stylings there- and it all very well feels like her music flows with all these different influences! I hate when stores use the generic word “ethnic” but I think her music and voice can very well fit in that sort of category. She’s got a lot of bouncy, poppy songs, but also a few more mellow songs as well... But of course I really love the bouncy stuff haha. If you need a song to get your heart pumping in the morning, I’d def recommend Star! A stranger sort of song that still has a great feel is Hope!

Are you staying home from work/school?

Not to be depressing on main, but I’m the manager of a restaurant, so as you can probably imagine, cover-19 as completely f**ked me and the entire hospitality industry over. I knew the lockdown was coming after seeing what was happening in other countries, but it still hit hard, particularly when my bosses dragged me two and a half hours away for a meeting to tell me they weren’t going to be able to pay any of the staff while were in lockdown without risking closures in the long run (I had hoped they would be able to pay us a portion) so I had to have some serious discussions with my family as to whether I could still stay where I am or just pack up my life and move back to live in Scotland until it all blew over and try and get a job there, which I really didn’t want to do for reasons I won’t bore you with. Fortunately, the UK government is now providing grants to cover a decent chunk of our wages so I can stay put for the time being. As it stands, I have zero work to do except go in once a week and check the restaurant is ok. I’m trying to keep positive but my future is pretty uncertain at the moment.

Who is at home with you? Just me as I live alone.

Are you a homebody? Normally I am, but I think that’s because my job revolves around being around people constantly, so I like to have my own space to unwind. I’m already getting pretty restless and it’s only been about 10 days.

Any event you were looking forward to that got cancelled? Urgh yes. First Louis in London, then Dua Lipa rescheduled, and then Harry announced his UK/European tour was moving for which I was going to six shows, and the order has changed which makes it more difficult for me to get between them and have the time off I need, so I may have to sell my tickets for one or two. So far the end of the year looks fine for my other concerts (Niall, Lewis Capaldi and Genesis), but I also have a ticket for Harryween and I doubt I’ll be able to afford NYC now if the lockdown goes on for a while, so I’ll probably have to sell my ticket for that which I’m pretty gutted about. I know it probably sounds incredibly spoiled to be mad about it all giving what’s going on, but concerts are a huge thing for me, something I really look forward to and what I save up for and spend my money on compared to other luxuries other people might choose, so it’s made a bad situation worse for me that everything I had planned over the coming months has been cancelled.

What movies have you been watching recently? I actually haven’t watched any films which is quite unlike me, I’ve been watching TV instead.

What are you doing for self-care? Sleep as much my body needs to and not set alarms, cook fresh food and try new recipes, keep in touch with family and friends and organise group facetime calls with them. I also bought myself a steam cleaner and I’m going to deep clean my entire flat because that’s how rock n’ roll I am.

What shows are you watching? Tiger King. I’m pleased I watched it before all the memes came out! and it’s really as batshit crazy as they say it is. I just feel bad for the tigers though, I need justice for them. Also started watching The O.C again because I haven’t watched it since I was a teenager and wanted a blast from the past. Honestly, how anyone could pick Seth over Ryan as their favourite I will never know. I’m well into season two and I’ll probably watch One Tree Hill after I’m done.

What music have you been listening to? Pretty much just Heartbreak Weather (which I am LOVING btw) but Due Lipa’s new album came out on Friday so I’ve been dipping into that a bit over the weekend too.

What books are you reading? I’m just reading fics at the moment. Re-read my fav Narry fic and started on the sequel last night and read a couple of short ones from the Pubefest that were good.

Rewatching Buffy 2x10

so Buffy has a Watcher, and Kendra has a Watcher, which means the Council of Watchers knows about both of them...so why didn’t anyone tell Giles? like, i could almost see that bunch of fools not wanting Buffy or Kendra to know, but why not tell Giles? does Kendra’s Watcher know?

so Kendra is in many ways the perfect Slayer: skilled, completely dedicated to the cause, etc etc...but Buffy’s strengths--the reasons she survives longer than most Slayers--are the things Slayers aren’t supposed to do, like have friends

does Spike deserve kudos for paying Willy instead of just killing him?

Xander and Cordelia just ran into a basement to get away from a monster; guess we know which of the Scoobies wouldn’t survive a horror movie

seriously Willy, you think the two girls who just hit you and threatened you are now going to give you nudes? what a douche

“let me have him” well based on the look on Spike’s face, i’m truly afraid what that means, cause that was a look of concerned jealousy, not bloodlust

you know Kendra, it’s a lot easier for you to be super-Slayer when you apparently neither go to school nor have family; cut Buffy a break

okay look, the whole ‘should Angel, as a vampire, die?’ is an interesting debate, but you two really should deal with it later

Let me introduce myself.

I’m K, I’m in my early twenties, and I currently live at home with my parents (which is a difficult situation to say the least) my older brother and my boyfriend. I’m known to be on the cynical side in life, I prefer the company of animals to the company of people, and I don’t have a lot of friends, but the few close friends I do have mean the absolute world to me. I’m a very loyal person, and I like people to be treated fairly, and I’m not afraid to speak out if I disagree with something. People that know me say that I’m loud, confident, and an outgoing sort of person, but behind that person, is a terrified little girl, constantly looking over her shoulder and worrying about every single decision she makes.

My anxiety first seriously presented itself in the most bizarre of ways; whilst on holiday with my bf and a couple of friends (who are also bf and gf) I somehow managed to convince myself that my bf had feelings for this other girl, and it triggered something in my brain. An irrational fear, which manifested into me hearing things, such as my boyfriend masturbating while we were in bed at night (he wasn’t btw). This went on for at least 6 months, if not longer, and got so bad that I could not go to sleep at night, without listening out for signs that he was up to something. I became paranoid, and while I tried not to let my bf know that anything was wrong, it began to have an effect on my mood, and I became a lot snappier and unpleasant. I took my problems out on the people I care about the most; my mom, my bf, my friends, my work colleagues, but I refused to tell anybody what was going on in my mind. Well, I tried to bring it up with my bf once, but when I did I sounded batshit crazy, and so never brought it up with him again, terrified that he would become sick of my accusations and break up with me. Instead, I suffered in silence letting it eat away at me, until I genuinely thought I was crazy and had to go to the doctor.

After talking it through with him, he told me about a self referral therapy centre, where I was signed up to a course of Cognital Behaviour Therapy (CBT) sessions. This is a very practical kind of therapy, and helped me find small ways to deal with my anxiety. I began to take walks in the evening, to make time for a bath in the evening, and the biggest key to my therapy: writing. I used to write a lot as a teenager, and I came up with a single idea which began to grow, and I started to worry about my characters, rather than worrying about myself. The sessions lasted about 12 weeks, and while I was nowhere near “cured” these sessions gave me the tools I needed to begin to move forward.

The main point of this therapy, I think, was to take an objective point of view of my life, and to see what small changes I could make in order to take better care of myself. At one session, I literally had to make a schedule of a typical week, and had to put everything from when I was sleeping, working, to when I did my chores, and to then look at where I could make time to do some revitalising. To take some time to look after me, even if it was just sitting and watching a movie with my bf, and having some quality time together. It was a very basic task, but it reminded me of the importance of just stopping for a while. Of putting the world on hold sometimes, instead of getting caught up in life, work, home, the same repetitive routines which can become soul destroying if you let them get on top of you.

I’ve still got a lot more to say, but I think I’ve rambled enough for one post!

Watching and eating are your two favorite things to do late at night and at around 11 pm. You were watching a movie you already did for a hundred times while your right hand instinctively reaches for a chip in the porcelain bowl on top of your bedside table.

A knock on your bedroom window didn’t bother you at first, thinking it was from the movie. You turn your gaze, once again, towards the screen.

Another knock sent a signal in you brain, playing a series of events that occurred in horror movies. You sat looking straight at your laptop while thinking about all the possibilities that could happen and you were already visualizing your death—all because you chose to stay up and tire yourself to sleep.

You had a debate on your mind whether or not you should slide open your balcony door until you finally chose to stand your lazy ass up and peek.

“Y/N, open up, please,” your neighbor, Shawn, whom you’ve never recently spoke to, except for that one time when your mom asked you to give some chicken pot pie to him, was standing on the other side of the glass door.

You slide open the door, muttering a small ‘come in’ and moving out of his way.

He sits on your desk chair in the corner, choosing to stay quiet while awkwardly closing your laptop and shoving the bowl of chips under the bed.

You clear your throat unnecessarily loud—immediately regretting after—before speaking up and cutting the silence short, “So...what brings you here?”

“I just wanted to talk to you.”

His posture said a lot, to begin with.

“Alright, about what?”

You knew quite a few things about him, like how he’s still posting covers up on the internet despite the fact that he’s gaining popularity and how even a record label already signed him.

Both of you went to the same high school before graduating a couple months ago. You couldn’t help but wonder if he’s planning to go to college.

“I don’t think I can do this,” he tells you.

“Do what?”

“You know, like, the popular thing; and I know it sounds so stupid and it seems like it’s such a good thing but I feel like I’m gonna lose a lot of things,” he replies softly.

“Come here, I can’t hear you well,” you admit, patting the spot beside you.

He takes your offer, proceeding to sit on the edge of your bed, lying down the upper half of his body.

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but I’ll lose a lot of things I have now.”

“Lose? Like what?”

“Like you,” he replies. He realizes what he just said and shakes his head vigorously at you. He laughs and corrects himself, “No, I mean, people like you and my family and friends.”

“Yeah, right,” you tease.

“Stop, I’m serious,” he smiles.

“Okay,” you defend yourself.

He looks up at your ceiling, that was filled with glow-in-the-dark plastic stars. You had those since you were younger and for you, at least, it was magical and it was what calmed you.

“I like your ceiling,” he points out.

“Thanks,” you reply. “You know, you’re gonna be a star just like one of them, like, I know, that’s so fucking cheesy but still.”

“You’re such a loser, I shouldn’t have came here,” he laughs.

“It’s true, believe me.”

“You’re just overthinking. You’re gonna be great, after all, you worked for it.”

He turns to face you properly, sitting up and crossing his legs.

Your eyes met his—finally—after all those years of awkwardly looking away in the hallways and slowing yourself down just so that you don’t get to walk with him when walking to school.

“Thanks.”

“Why me, though?”

“Because who do I talk to? You’re the only one in the subdivision who went to school with me,” he replies. “And, because I think you’re really cool.”

“Wow, thanks, pal.”

“Ew, don’t call me that.”

“I promise this is just going to be a one-time thing.”

“Good, ‘cause I don’t want anyone interrupting my movie.”

It wasn’t a one-time thing. One time became two times and two times became five times until it happened every single goddamn day.

You weren’t complaining though. It was fun having a glimpse of his life, as told by him and not the media like it used to, and he told you so much about his dreams and where he wants to be in life. Total batshit crazy topics weren’t out of the conversations too, for sure.

This routine continued but one night truly stood out. It wasn’t odd or anything but it was definitely unexpected. One of the nights wherein he didn’t talk about much of himself and his bizarre life but instead, yours, the spontaneous and going-nowhere one.

“So where do you want to go to college, anyway?”

“Preferably in the US, that’s if I get in or that’s if I’m dreaming, depends.”

“No, that’s being truthful. You’re smart and you know it,” he pushes.

“Well,” you shrug.

“You will, I promise. Believe me.”

“That’s literally what I said before to you.”

“Exactly, practice what you preach.”

You gotta admit, he made sparked a glimmer of hope inside you. You truly meant it when you told him he’d make it and the sincerity in his voice makes you believe as if you will to.

He knew how to make you happy even in the most gruesome and gloomy of times. He knew you as you progressed. He knew your deepest secrets and feelings. He knew you better than you knew yourself.

Your gaze met and locked for a few seconds, before you cleared your throat, like you always do to brush off weird situations.

He noticed this, but proceeded to lean in to press his lips against yours. You felt oblivious to it but you kissed back softly.

His hands tucks a piece of hair behind your ear before pushing you gently onto the bed and deepening the kiss.

He breaks apart, only your irregular breaths heard.

“Pretty sure I’m in love with you,” he whispers, as both of you laid under the same plastic stars.
