pokemon blue, day 16: trades!

now i'm ready.

what up, gay nerds!

so, yeah, as previously alluded to before taking on the elite four i wanted to do a bunch of trades with my fiancx (who's playing pokemon red), specifically so i could evolve spooky into gengar. i probably coulda ran through the elite four just fine without doing that, but idk, it just felt right to have my favorite pokemon fully evolved when i became a pokemon champion.

anyway, yeah! other than that, we swapped some version exclusives and also swapped the pokemon who evolve by trading, so this is gonna be a pretty big pokedex entry dump just like my safari zone posts. sorry it's not more interesting, but yeah! trading is pretty time consuming when you do it late in the game.

(i mean, ok, iq is fake but whatever.)

and since ekans was pretty close to evolving, i went ahead & wasted some time in the victory road caves leveling him up!

and, yeah! there i was, my pokedex in the high 100s, on the doorstep of the elite four, the end of my journey in sight.

i'm trying to sound all profound to distract from the fact that this post was just a bunch of pokedex entries from trades me & my fiancx did, is it working?

Geodude got a lot better in Alola

Pokémon are real. Geodude is real, and strong, and he is my friend.

And yeah not much to say about Geodude. It's a rock with arms and eyes, and more or less so is Graveler. Golem gets a bit interesting, pulling in some tortoise elements and suggesting the rock as a shell, which is cool, although it feels like a big departure from its line.

Alolan Geodude and its line, though, being a rock/electric type, and justifying it by implying, I guess, essentially that the body is riddled with pizoelectric crystals and magnetic minerals, which is interesting. Alolan Golem takes this maybe a little too far, growing mad scientist facial hair and running around with what looks like a rocky railgun on its back?

Still, I would much rather analyze designs that go too far than ones that don't go far enough, and the use of the black rocky accents ties the Alolan Geodude line together much better than the standard one, and it feels way more cohesive.
