- the king issued a challenge to the server. if they managed to beat his impossible vault, he would return the diamonds and resign as king. if they failed, he would be king of the server forever more

ren + co, who have spent a week doing massive grind making this vault: wow such enthusiasm

- everyone takes off all their gear. this does mean dwarfpulse is beardless the whole time, which is cursed

- the knights of the square table all watch from little tinted glass tunnels the whole time its fantastic

room one was cub’s parkour and a mob fight. everyone fails the double slime jump

- jevin (dare sticked to be useless) pulls a midnight black cats but the hoglins were all weirdly passive so its fine

- a brief aside with bdubs versus about half the server in pvp

- after bdubs was skain, joe, in chat is all ‘oh no, cleo we better prepare for trouble’ and im so so sad no one made a team rocket joke back

room two was cleo’s explosive game of red light green light.

- doc and etho just fucking cheat at the end and no one stops them

- cleo threw a lever just for fun and jevin got in a huff ‘fine you wanna cheat? we can cheat!’ and then immediately dies and ends up at fucking spawn

- redstone door fails and joe manually has to set it off. this feels right somehow.

- another aside with a worse-for-wear bdubs vs half the server pvp part 2. he’s got a black eye and a missing tooth

room three is scar’s pay to win parkour

- grian, having 3rd life flashbacks: scar put your shirt on

- for a bunch of people bitching sbout being broke they sure are quick to pay to win loll

Purple did absolutely phenomenal it's appreciation post time

First of all Grian raised 1.1k pounds to help complete building the school in Ghana he previously fundraised for! And he's making a separate donation of his own for cancer research <3

Pre game banter my beloved Grian going "Joel as much as we want to win mcc, today we're here to find out which one of us is the nerf!" only for Joel to say it's Scott and for Scott to do the worst on the team in the end, and Grian going "as a birthday treat I'll carry Fruit to victory" and later Illumina in Fruit's chat saying if HitW was picked he'd start using up the internet so Fruit would win lmao

Then individually holy heck, entire team top 15???? Fruit 3rd Joel 6th Grian 11th Scott 14???????? My streamers popped off!!!! Their teamwork was phenomenal and their energy was high and humourous- every game someone joked about Scott playtesting maps ("yeah I've played ace race with the new tridents THAT WAS A JOKE THAT WAS A JOKE SLASH JAY SLASH JAY") or Fruit and lava ("I'm getting flashbacks" "the key to Survival Games is not to put yourself in lava"). The callbacks to previous MCCs (Wilbur's burning building, Joel spilling water on his keyboard, return of the gong etc) and the special stuff for Fruit's birthday!! The random interactions with other Players- Grian calling Tubbo his hero for voting Build Mart, Pearl calling Grian Griba during DB and sneaking around during the break, Grian and Pete being excited together for Purple DB, Martyn randomly showing up?? Phil mistaking Scott for a fan in TGTTOS and hitting him and then Grian and Phil smacking each other while Grian just laughed for a minute straight <3 every Joel and Oli interaction <3 Scott and Joel cheering for Callum when he popped off <3

Onto the games themselves;

They had incredible teamwork and communication and finished second in Grid Runners almost entirely as a result! Their skills really shown with the tower and prison challenges as they effectively communicated what to do- Fruit did the parkour and called out which pistons to activate, and in the building room Grian was able to immediately tell the others what to do- "make an iron golem, then put the blue on the hand".

Sky Battle being an unexpected victory?? Hello?? Like when it was selected Grian went "this is going to kill my motivation" and asked if he could just yeet himself off. Then they won the first round only for Fruit to instantly fall off the first three seconds of round two lmaooo. "If you take care of the bridging, I'll follow you to death" ok Mr. Roleplayer calm down Grian this isn't 3rd Life. Grian getting 6 kills including Punz and Tommy?? Scott taking out a whole team iirc with an enderpearl to attack from behind and going "if I'm not in Callum's top ten plays!"?? Grian and Scott saying they were "channeling Technoblade" >>> the rest of the event. Joel being terrible at bridging and everyone laughing at him. Grian coming THIRD in SKY BATTLE and first on his team while Fruit placed last!! Then Grian saying he was pumped after the game after expecting it to ruin his mood <3 joking about Fruit being their nerf and that Grian really was going to carry them to DB <3

Parkour Tag was one of their worst games and they didn't even do badly! Grian going "don't worry guys I'll go hunt Blue, I'll step up", Scott telling Fruit he'd hunt the last two teams (incorrectly) saying "it's red and pink" "oh G-d", Joel wanting to hunt Oli specifically then getting all of Green in 20 second as all of Purple survived to the end! Grian saying he'd call out for Scott and Joel immediately talking, and Scott telling him to shush. And of course "we didn't stop when Wilbur's building was on fire why are we stopping for a pee break"

Grian joking he only liked his team because they'd win, Scott asking if their friendship meant anything, Grian being silent, Scott indignantly going "I gave up my bed for you the other weekend!" then Grian immediately and sincerely saying how much he appreciated them (soft moment, made me 🥺) (also hello was that from the Mumbo Jimmy Scott meetup?? Was Grian there?? Was it for his birthday?? Scott pls I wanna hear the story)

TGTTOS and Grian being right at the front with Phil and Pete for Terra Swoop Force and then missing the podium, falling underneath it and getting stuck, losing first place </3 pain and suffering I tell you. Grian getting third on the second map, Fruit popped off as usual, Grian and Phil smacking each other under the plane and Phil hitting Scott instead of a fan, Grian mistaking Dream for Fruit and trying to follow him, Scott refusing to punch the Simmers or Niki <3 Scott saying he thought they removed the breakdown map "because it was hellish" lmaooo

The break and Pearl and Tommy standing by Grian <3 Pearl messing with him <3 Hermits my beloved every tag on every post about that moment is "they're siblings your honour" and they're right

Grian coming back, saying "ok let's unmute and hope it isn't Survival Games" only for Joel to immediately say "it's Survival Games" as Grian starts to fake-cry. All the Dreamslayer jokes. Survival Games starting very dodgy with them getting like no items and running into Pink early before they got absolutely stacked like hello?? Fruit had Feather Falling boots and a Quick Charge crossbow and he and Grian had Punch II bows! Fruit had speed and regen the entire end fight! Fruit and Joel POPPING OFF and winning SG!!! Lowkey the spiritual successor to MCC9 Blue Bats our beloved

Ace Race!! Scott frantically shouting "SLASH JAY" after joking about the map. Fruit Joel and Grian all did the big skip at the end, Fruit twice despite never doing it before! Grian going from 21st to 9th and then messing up with the new tridents and falling back to mid 20s </3 the entire team doing super well and Fruit only being a tenth of a second off Callum's time! Build Mart brought mild panic but that didn't stop them at all- they were in their element in the confusion and it showed! First overall baby!! Tubbo singlehandedly ensuring Build Mart was picked and Scott telling everyone to stream Life by the Sea to say thank you!! Grian called Tubbo his hero! Fruit was a great floater and the entire team came together to work on the gold builds, giving them the lead!

Sands of Time and Sand Daddy! Why! And wow Grian really did not hesitate there huh. But really they did amazing as well, even with Vexes killing Grian instantly (I've decided that was the Convex actually <3) and Scott's "oh purple opened a vault- OH WAIT THAT'S US" lmaoo. Grian walking into a room of locked doors, one with a ravager and another with a lot of coins, randomly flipping a lever and getting the coins before realizing what could've happened?? Joel doing the word puzzles, Grian calling Fruit over to do the lava chain parkour and Fruit clutching it up as a Vex attacked him!! Each team member earning 1k coins!! Scott shaming Sapnap for throwing a tomato at Niki <3

And then in Dodgebolt we saw the return of Grian "it's a team game, everybody gets to shoot" Hermitcraft, with the new quote of "we ride together we die together". Them going into DB by saying how much fun they had playing together <3 Scott saying he didn't mind Pink winning because Dream would be donating to cancer research <3 Grian turning to the audience and dramatically looking to the heavens <3 Dodgebolt was amazing- Grian body blocking for Fruit, Dreamslayer moment, Grian managing to kill 2/3 during a 1v3 during a panic attack. He deserves the world actually /parasocial. The others all asking Grian if he was okay and telling him to take his time when they realized he was serious about the panic attack. Congratulating each other after the event and talking about how much fun they had, plus all the money raised for charity <3

Ooh what if niki lets out a tip from techno, what if after the escape he gathers the commune and talks about the horrendous condition of pandora, then mcc came and niki just shares it with H and basically whole of green goblins in one of the games. And hermits are like (wtf?)

MCC.

The one day each month where members of the most popular servers would meet.

The one day of celebration, the day of catching up.

Grian absolutely loved it.

And this month's competition was looking to be amazing as well!

His team was great - Gem, his good Hermit friend, HBomb, who he hear a lot of good about from Ren and False and Niki - a sweetheart, who knew H well and would complete the incredible team dynamic!

He was ready to leave long before the admins would even begin to prepare the teleportation for the competitors. He just couldn't wait! He was going to be defending his title and he knew his team had a big chance of winning again!

The day was going by slowly, slower than he wanted it to.

He tried everything - mining deepslate to add to his G-Train, pranking other Hermits and even rebuild a part of his alleyway that got blown up by a creeper somehow. And yet the time was still moving annoyingly slowly.

He was lying on his back by the Botaem Hole, when he heard someone land beside him.

"Grian!"

"Iskall?" What was he doing here? Grian got up quickly seeing the panicked expression on his fellow Hermit's face. "What happened?! Is everyone okay?!"

"Yes! Well no!" Iskall brought his communicator up to Grian's face. "H messaged me! You have to find out what is going on with Dr-!"

Maybe the time wasn't moving as slowly as Grian thought. The travel between servers was as quick and as disorienting as usual. One second he was standing right before Iskall, feeling his elytra on his back and the second the bright colours of the MCC lobby were present all around him.

Iskall didn't get to tell him the whole message. Well, Grian hoped it wasn't really important. No matter, he could just ask HBomb directly!

He looked around, trying to find his teammates. He saw many people around, but no one in the same green jacket he was wearing. Where were they? He approached the closest person he could find. It was one of the pink players.

"Hey! Quackity, right?" The beanie-wearing player turned around and smiled brightly at him.

"Hey Grian! What's up?" Grian smiled as well.

"Do you know where my team is? I can't find them." Quackity nodded.

"Yeah! I saw them dragging Scott away to the building with all the past winners. The... what's it called? Achievement Hall?"

"I have no idea! Anyway thank you!" He was too distracted to think about the proper name of the building and was already running off, briefly turning around to wave his goodbyes.

He ran towards the building, trying not to run into any other person. He partially succeeded, only having to make a quick dodge when Quig jumped off from somewhere and appeared on his path.

When he finally got to the hall, he looked around again. Where were his teammates? The building was huge, how was he supp-

"Grian!" Gem. Thank god. He smiled and headed downstairs, where he could see the ginger Hermit standing and waving towards him.

"Gem! I was looking all over the place for you! Where-" He cut himself of. Gem and the others weren't laughing. They weren't smiling even. Something was wrong. His own smile fell.

"What's going on?"

HBomb and Niki looked awful. It was common knowledge that the only thing the MCC Admins couldn't fix for the games were broken bones and exhaustion. The two looked like they haven't slept in weeks. Months even. They looked nervous too, as if they held a secret too horrifying to share.

"Good. You are here." Scott wasn't his happy self either. "They wouldn't tell me anything until you got here! Now." He looked back at the two Dream SMP members. "You were saying Dream wasn't going to come?"

Dream wasn't here? Grian was shocked. He has never spoken to the man, but he knew he would rather be dead than miss an MCC.

"Wait Dream is not here?"

"He's not. And he is the reason we need your help." H began. "We weren't very... truthful with you all." He swallowed quickly, sending Niki a quick look. "Dream SMP is not as peaceful as you think."

Scott scoffed. "Is this what this is about? We already know that! Do you know how many times Noxite complained to me about how many wounds he has to fix each time MCC comes around?! I don't know what kind of pranks you guys do, but-!"

"Dream is being tortured in a prison he created." Niki's words interrupted Scott. They all fell silent. No one knew what to say.

Grian felt his blood freeze. "What?"

"He has been locked up for a few months now. We thought we were doing the right thing! He was dangerous! But now... Quackity and Sam! They are doing something to him! Techno told us!" Niki was near hysteria, anger present in her voice. "We need your help. Sam made Dream stay behind somehow and no one can access the prison. We need the help of the Admins."

Grian looked at Scott. He was frozen, his jaw slightly open.

"Tortured? What do you mean tortured?!"

"We don't know the details. But Techno was there for much less and he looked awful when he got out. He said Dream looked dead. That he tried burning himself in the lava." HBomb took over the explanation, giving Niki a moment to turn toward the wall and punch it a few times. Grian winced slightly at the sound and the hole she left behind.

"He... he burned himself?" Gem asked in a shaky voice.

"As I said - we don't know the details. But we need help." He addressed Scott again. "Scott please. I know Admins shouldn't intervene with other servers, but our Admin is hurt."

Scott finally closed his mouth, swallowing thickly. "Right. I need to- I need to message Noxite. He needs to know." He opened his communicator and took a few steps away, typing away.

Grian didn't know what to do. Help Gem? Ask H and Niki for more details? Go and ask Quackity? He felt lost. No one ever told him what to do in a situation like this one.

"Grian, Gem. Sorry for involving you both, but I had a feeling Iskall wasn't going to be quick enough." HBomb looked apologetic. Why was he apologising to them? They were the ones with a friend being tortured apparently. "I'm sorry we won't be able to play together now. I was really looking forward to it!"

"Yeah... Me too." Grian felt as if he was underwater. He heard the others talk, but couldn't make out any words. Where was he? Where was the faint music coming from?

"-an! Grian! Listen to me." He felt someone's hands on his arms. Female voice. Ginger hair. Antlers. Gem. He tried focusing on her voice.

She guided him back to reality slowly and he took a deep breath.

"Good to have you back with us." Gem smiled at him. "The others left to see Noxcrew. Apparently the games are cancelled." She added when she saw him look around, trying to find the other members of the green guardians. "Come on. We're going back to Hermitcraft. The portal should be open."

(The next few days were frantic. Grian tried contacting Technoblade, but the answers were short and slow. He tried not to worry. The other was probably busy with the Admins' search of the server and everything else the investigation meant.

The Hermits tried to focus on their builds. Tried not to worry too much. They couldn't do anything anyway. Xisuma was gone, having joined the investigation already, but his messaged were also short. They weren't sure if that was good or not.

The next time anyone saw any Dream SMP members was the next MCC. Grian was teamed with none of them, but he saw HBomb and Niki laughing with a person wearing 3D glasses. He waved at them and they waved back happily. He couldn't see Quackity anywhere.

Dream wouldn't be seen for another few MCCs. Apparently his body was malnourished and broken after everything he has gone through.

But he would be back. His mask looking brand new, shining in the warm rays of the MCC day. Happily talking to the other players, looking better then ever.)

mcc 17 was probably the most balanced one so far, and that’s all due to the players practicing and getting better, and obviously scott major our beloved

do not be mean, rude, send hate or threats towards any of the players, scott, noxcrew, or other viewers, istg

communication is key in mcc, remember that

people complaining that build mart requires too much memorization..... it’s live, why can’t the players just tell their chat to remind them of what to get? I know players that do that and it works just fine (this is a genuine question)

MCC 16 hermit team thoughts:

Cub will likely be in this one, he plays every other MCC

Dunno about Pearl’s trend, she skipped 13 and 14, but she was in MCCP and 15, so probably she’ll be back

False is pretty much confirmed because she hasn’t skipped any canon MCC

Grian pretty much confirmed too

Ren will likely be in this too, he only skipped twice

This season, Grian has been pretty much teamed with Evo buddies and Pete. He has not teamed with any hermit another than Pearl

Pearl also been with Evo buddies / Grian instead of being with FRC

FalseRen have been with Fruit and Illumina

You can feel the trend here (what am I saying lol, there’s only been two MCCs), and that’s 1) hermits x mcsr 2) falseren(cub) 3) grianpearl + evo + old friends

Martyn is not joining, so no Renchanting

We can assume H isn’t joining, so no H and hermits as well

Grian has been with Pete three times, and pretty much consecutively (MCC 13, 14, 15), so maybe it’s time for G to team with Fruit again?

I don’t feel we’ll get Lime Liches, because at this point we’ve seen a LOT of FalseRenFruit trios, and no way in hell are FalseRen splitting up

I can see Grian Cub Pearl Fruit maybe (*Lime12 noises*) if we go with Scott nerfing Fruit AGAIN, but I sincerely hope Fruit gets a strong team this time. It’s not about him winning, it’s just sad to be in the 10th when other players around his skill level get stronger teams. Fruity B is nice and chill and adaptable, but they’ve done him dirty. Would love to see Fruit on a strong team for ONCE

That being said, Illumina and hermits (and co) got along extremely well, I can see Illumina being “the next Fruit” and starts teaming with hermit trios

You know what? Jordan is an honorary hermit now. And he has NOT teamed with a single hermit. This is a crime. I’m sure they’ll get along well because Iskall adores him. He has the Hermit Seal of Approval

Quig and hermits would be cute tbh. Let them adopt another one. I want to see Ren and Quig in a vc after their practice Dodgebolt ;-;

Fun facts: Grian and Cub have not been teamed together. Neither have Ren and Pete.

One interesting case is Wilbur…? We could get like MCC P Pink redemption (RIP TECHNOBLADE </3) or at least a 2/4 because that team is so beloved. I hope we get Jimmy and Wilbur because I’m low-key sick of the Grian-Wilbur clout domination sorry. C’mon, we miss Mr Gaming.

Ah yes, my guilty pleasure team: False and Wilbutt. She legit gave him a nickname and she told her teammates?? He bothered her frequently??? They had more interaction than gRiAN ANd wiLbUr before MCCP????

False had more two-sided interaction with SBI than Grian with SBI before MCCP. Fight me.

You know what, Phil and hermits would be nice as well. Like Phil and Pearl. Or Phil and Wilbur and False. Oh fuck now I actually want this.

Is it bad that I want the clout people to team with any hermit that isn’t Grian, because some parts of the fandom pretty much only talk about Grian. Yeah it’s probably bad of me

At this point, I don’t have any teams I actively want because H and Martyn aren’t participating

But I want hermit duos more than hermit trios. Hermit duo teams are just SO GOOD *blows kisses to Blue9 and Purple15 in particular because I’m biased*

IVE COME OUT OF LURKING ON TUMBLR TO SCREAM ABOUT MCC

that MCC was so good!! I watched the yellow yaks POV as I usually watch Scott’s stream, and goodness gracious were they a great team!! Their communication was extremely good and they were super funny, I’d say it’s one of my favorite stream POVs I’ve watched

And the hermits!! The empires peeps!!! They popped the FUCK off throughout the event, with orange lime and purple at the top for most of it!

AND THAT DODGEBOLT!! I CANNOT leave this off without talking about how grian just absolutely 1v3ed the hell out of pink parrots!! My dude finally got that win!! And the pink parrots did amazing as well! Simmers and fruitninja my beloveds :)

The teams for this event were super good and super balanced, as anyone could’ve taken the win! Big thank you and props to scott smajor for making these amazing teams, and of course, big thank you for noxcrew for organizing the event as usual!! This is probably one of, if not my favorite MCC ever.

Am real excited for MCC rising and hopefully my first Halloween MCC next month :)

listen. after mcc16 all i want to see is grian and hbomb in dodgbebolt together

we’ve seen that grian’s 100% cracked, and h is one of, if not THE best at handling pressure and comms in dodgebolt. if anyone can work with grian to earn the win, it’s mr. most wins in mcc
