Chronorun Reports notes:

Van Helsing, Jekyll, and Mrs. Frankenstein (Victor's mom) are siblings with Abraham and Henry being twins and Caroline being a few years younger (specific ages will have to wait until my brain decides that doing math is worth it)

(they are all a mix of Dutch, British, and Swiss btw)

(yes this means that Victor is Van Helsing's and Jekyll's nephew)

Van Helsing formed the HOSC to essentially bring light to all of the scientific discoveries that are happening (Jekyll's serum, any supernatural being he encountered, the time machine, Victor's creation, Griffin's invisibility, and more) but not without the house members' consent

Now let's get into the plot- a good amount of people in this universe have powers (almost all of the members of both societies have powers)

They are as follows:

Van Helsing- gains an ability of whatever type of entity he conquers (if he were to slay a vampire he would only get one of the abilities shared within all vamps. Ie teleportation) as well as natural immunity to most (not all) supernatural attacks and anomalistic mastery (or that could just be from his job)

Jekyll- technically he speaks to Hyde through telepathy as well as having telekinesis

Hyde- telepathy like Jekyll (because of course) and the ability to teleport objects and people away from and to him

(Jekyll and Hyde are forced to work together because they are not able to do what the other can as well as the other)

Victor- weather control (I just wanted to reference the movies, I think he would use it to help him animate the creation)

Griffin- now I know you might think that I'm going to make his invisibility his power, but that's not the case. He can however talk to animals, he just doesn't want anyone to know.

Time traveler- let's get the obvious out of the way, he can see any point in time (past present, and future), and it proved very helpful (but overwhelming and contributes to his time blindness)

Sherlock- like the time traveler, he could be obvious (giving him some kind of hyper-intelligence) so I'll give him tactical analysis and the hyper intertellince (or he could not have the ability and just be that smart, I haven't decided yet)

Watson- since he's a physician and royal army surgeon (according to Wikipedia), giving him a healing ability (more so healing others) would be a fair but obvious move. However, I want his medical knowledge to be utilized (meaning he would use actual medical practices instead of relying on powers) so the proper techniques would still have to be used (more so internal and really bad external wounds, broken bones, and deep/wide cuts being examples)

Gwen- now she could be a little difficult (considering the fact she is someone else's oc and I'm a bit scared to ask because it might look like I'm stealing their idea) so I'll move on for now. (she could have enhanced reflexes as it would be really helpful)

Switching gears to more general ideas (I'm looking for a reason to segway into the investigative committee's powers)

Griffin and the time traveler don't use their names for reasons they'd rather not admit (it has something to do with their experiments)

Van Helsing and Jekyll may make it look like they hate Victor (because he's an irresponsible, spoiled, college dropout who can be a bit of a nervous wreck at the most inconvenient times possible) but they're still trying to help him get over everything (and to take some god damn responsibly for once in his life)

Van Helsing and Watson are transcribing past journals, audio logs (the series takes place in the 21st century), and more as a part of the whole "bring light to all of the scientific discoveries that are happening" thing the HOSC does

The HOSC is very queer (not really with each other but you know)

Jekyll is a trans, ace, gay man (maybe Hyde too, he hasn't really thought about it, both he/him though)

Victor is pansexual and nonbinary (he/they)

Griffin is a bi demi-boy (also he/they)

Sherlock seems to be more interested in his work than in relationships (aroace cis man)

Watson is more open to the idea than Sherlock is though, at some point being stated to have said "I think everyone looks nice, does that mean im attracted to everyone? No not everyone, but certain people attract me more than others." (doesn't put a label on gender either but uses he/it/they)

Time Traveler is a theatre kid so he is probably the most open with his sexuality and gender (gay nonbinary dude using they/it)

Again, I have no idea for Gwen as she is not my character (well none of them are, I might have one at some point but thats not what I'm here for) so I either ask the creator or leave her as unlabelled (which might not be a bad idea actually) although the picrew shows her as aroace

Van Helsing might be the only straight one (I say might be because he doesn't know, still uses he/him though)

Now for the Missing person's investigative committee: they are in charge of finding out the who, where, what, why, when, and how of missing person cases

Utterson and Poole started it after Jekyll faked his death, which happened about a week after Van Helsing got back from killing Dracula (so it was like 7 years ago based on Quincey jr's age in the main story)

I'm now imagining a very stressed Van Helsing hearing about his brother supposedly killing himself because his latest experiment went tits up (excuse me while I try not to cry)

Their powers are:

Utterson- since he's a lawyer, giving him something like Holmes' hyper-intelligence (if it's his ability at all) is kinda obvious so some kind of adaptive ability could be fun (body language analysis could be useful)

Poole- super speed to help him with all of his duties (and in case of emergencies)

Mycroft- I kinda want his to be out of the park but still useful in a way, fuck it he can turn off others' abilities either by touching them or snapping his fingers

Walton- some kind of internal GPS for his traveling

Kemp- I tried reading the invisible man wiki to see what kind of doctor he is (he did go to a medical school so that could help) but couldn't really find anything so im going in sorta blind. I'm just going to make him a shapeshifter

Now that that is out of the way, few more things until pride shit

If someone pisses off Mycroft, their powers are just gone for the day (which could be devasting if they piss him off during a very important mission)

Walton being the youngest (younger than Hyde but older than Victor) means he is often the fastest and most agile of the group (until Poole uses his super speed obviously)

He's basically the group's son (at least to most of them, Mycroft might have some warming up to do)

Now, pride:

Utterson- Jekyll's husband (cis bi man, uses he/him)

Poole- unlabeled sexuality (aro he/it user)

Mycroft- like Van Helsing, he might be the only straight one (uses he/him)

Walton- trans, demisexual man (he/them/it)

Kemp- omnisexual nonbinary (they/them)

SCIENCE MOST SINISTER: VOLUME II - PART FOUR

The most accurate descriptor for what ensued after Watson woke the other five House members would be uproarious bafflement, perhaps bordering on frantic chaos. Either way, there was rather a bit of shouting involved.

In all the confusion, Gwen ended up being quite forgotten, as she had no one to reunite with. (Actually, now that she felt safe enough to go on brief archeological adventures, having freed herself from her curse, she had seen Newt only a couple of weeks ago while supervising a mummy unwrapping party—but I digress. The point is, her past had already caught up with her.) So she stood off to the side and observed.

Some of the reactions of the House members and the newcomers had been positive; Holmes had appeared uncharacteristically shocked to see his brother, but not unhappy, and Victor had nearly been tackled to the floor by—well, Gwen had not caught his name, but he was the only one of the surprise visitors with his hair tied back.

On the other hand, several of the reactions had been distinctly unpleasant. The Time Traveller had looked downright guilty upon coming face-to-face with the man in the green coat, while Hyde avoided making eye contact with, if she was remembering his story correctly, whom Gwen assumed to be Mr. Utterson and Mr. Poole.

Griffin and the redheaded man were by far the loudest. They were currently engaged in a heated argument, and though Gwen couldn’t see his face, she could tell by his voice that Griffin was seconds away from striking the other man.

She decided then to interfere before the situation escalated. Weaving through the crowd, she climbed up onto the sofa nearest to her, put two fingers to her mouth, and let out a piercing whistle. “SHUT UP, ALL OF YOU!” she shouted at the top of her lungs.

The study became deathly silent. She stepped down from the sofa and stood with her hands on her hips. “If somebody would be so kind as to give us an explanation, we would be grateful,” she said.

The man she thought might be Utterson cleared his throat. “My apologies,” he said; and then paused, as though waiting to hear her name.

“Dr. Guinevere Crowley.”

“Thank you, Dr. Crowley. In short, we—the Society of Themis—was founded on the hope that, one day, we may discover what really happened to all of you, if anything. Most of you disappeared without explanation, and left behind more questions than answers.

“That being said, now that we know that all of you are alive, we would like an explanation as to how you managed it. Mr. Hyde has already told us his story.”

Unsure of what to do, the House members looked at each other, each of them waiting for the other to speak first. Finally, Holmes sighed resignedly and hung his head.

“I suppose you deserve to know the truth,” he said. “After I returned from where I had been laying low after my apparent death, Watson and I were approached by Van Helsing. He told us about the House, stating that having a private detective and a doctor as two of its members could be beneficial. I . . . was so intrigued by his offer that I wasn’t thinking of the consequences of my actions.” He raised his head to meet his brother’s eyes. “I am deeply sorry, Mycroft.”

“As am I,” said Watson, guilt painted clear across his face.

Mycroft’s mouth hardened into a thin line. Then, his expression softened. “Frankly, I am still angry with you, Sherlock. But I forgive you,” he added, making Holmes’s eyes brighten.

One by one, each of the House members told the truth of how they had found themselves on the House’s doorstep. Griffin, while Kemp had gone to fetch a doctor to heal his wounds inflicted by the mob that attacked him, had escaped town and sent a letter to Van Helsing, his old college professor, asking for help. The manor belonging to the House had been bought, and Griffin had been given enough provisions to last him several months.

Victor came next. As soon as Walton’s ship docked in London and the captain had turned his back, Victor had slipped away, fearful of accidentally hurting another by getting close to him. In an illness-induced daze, he eventually ran into Van Helsing, who had taken him to live with Griffin.

After Victor came Jekyll and Hyde, and then the Time Traveller joined. Griffin had overheard Edmund and several of their friends discussing the time machine in hushed tones at a restaurant, and immediately went off to find the Time Traveller. It took a surprisingly little amount of convincing to persuade him to join the House, and the next day, he and his time machine were on their way to the ancient manor.

Once the Time Traveller had finished, Walton turned to Gwen and asked, “What about you?”

She blinked. “You wish to hear my story? But—but it isn’t very relevant to your mission. Why?”

He smiled. “Pure curiosity.”

She sucked in a breath. “Alright. Er, well, I used to live in the United States before coming to England. Van Helsing found me struggling to pay rent in Cambridge, secured me a position in the archeology business—I am an archeologist and Egyptologist—and allowed me to join the House and live here,” she stated simply. There was no point in disclosing any more than she needed to.

Walton looked like he wished to ask more, but Griffin interrupted him. “Have our answers satisfied you all?” he asked snappishly.

There was a pause. “They have . . .” Kemp said, speaking carefully, in the same manner one would when talking to a wild animal with its hackles raised. “But I confess, we had an ulterior motive for seeking you out.”

Griffin barked out a laugh that made Gwen startle. “HA! I knew it! You would never look for me on completely innocent terms, Kemp. Not after what you did to me.”

Kemp glared at him. “Would you listen to me instead of leaping to conclusions?”

“Well, go on, then. What is it you want? My and Hyde’s arrests? To spill the House’s secrets to the public?” Griffin continued, obviously not listening.

“Here!” Kemp fumbled a folded newspaper page from his pocket and thrust it at the empty air where Griffin’s voice emitted from. “Read this, and see if you can figure out why we have come here!”

The House crowded around the newspaper. Griffin unfolded it, revealing the front page, which bore the shocking headline for all to see: Invisible Menace at Large: Constabulary Left Baffled

The study fell so quiet, one could have heard a pen drop. Gwen’s eyes darted across the headline, lingering on each word to make sure she was reading them correctly.

When Griffin spoke again, his voice was quiet. “Kemp,” he whispered, “I haven’t left this house in almost a year. This . . . this is not me.”

thinking abt this due to a bunch of other media i've consumed recently but i have a special place in my heart for the fictional characters in sort of more fantasy/sci-fi settings with a separation between their queer identity and their struggles that aren't necessarily bc of that identity itself but manifest through allegory instead. i'm thinking of gwen stacy in atsv who is absolutely a trans girl that was accepted by her dad when she came out, but also her storyline about "coming out" as spider-woman/how people can only see half of who she is, is the most transgender thing about her. i'm thinking of aziraphale and crowley who are in-universe genderless/sexless bc all angels and demons are but the thing that makes their narrative truly queer is how they live in fear of their love being found out by the oppressive systems they live under (+ how they react to it in different ways). the doctor; someone who sure is technically genderfluid because they're a being can change gender with each regeneration but also their transness (and bi/gay/aspec coding) stems from how they interact with their companions and their at-all-times-complicated relationship to their identity. like there's lots of value in queer characters whose struggles are textually connected to their queer identities and face homophobia/transphobia/aphobia head-on but i have a lot of love for stories that build worlds where queerness isn't as big a deal and is accepted by the people in them, but the struggles the characters face are still a thinly-veiled metaphor for queer reality. makes them just as complex and identifiable through that, and shows that the writer(s) have a higher level of understanding of the identities they're portraying than just an outsider pov

if there was a torchwood/spn crossover, jack would get shot in the head so much. i know he already dies a lot, but he’s going to die so many times during this crossover. keeps getting bullets unloaded into him. they stab him with silver and steel and copper and none of it keeps him down. he’s gonna get squirted with borax and that one’s not gonna kill him but it is going to ruin his coat, which is materially worse for him.

Crowley and Gwen Hernandez of 12x15 fame should have been pals. Besties even. She should have been his little friend who he checks in on sometimes and she becomes like his Claire but with mildly less baggage and she’s the one forcibly adopting HIM. She continues to maintain that he is just the nicest person ever and calls him tío and she IS fully aware he’s the demon ruler of hell but she’s so desensitised now that she mostly just asks him tons of questions about it as she brings him along to camp sites and hikes and grocery stores and malls. Crowley has spent more time in Aeropostale than in his throne room lately and he acts like it’s tedious but he loves it. I don’t think Crowley would drag her into any other paranormal conflicts but if they did become caught up in something then they would have brilliant Doctor + Companion energy because Gwen would always find a way to be incredibly brave no matter what wild demonic shit is happening and her and Crowley would make a surprisingly effective team. To me.
