The Avenger series, part 2

Tw: cursing, Tony not following directions

Previous Part

"Dude, you're like a million years old-"

"Excuse me, Ma'am, but I'm a billion! And your closer to zero. You're a baby. Added with the fact that I'm ten times as important as you-"

"Ten times zero is still zero."

"Not the point."

"I just wanna name it," you whined. Tony rolled his eyes, clearly baffled at your audacious manner.

"I picked an acronym before you were even born," He shakes his head, holding up the glasses frames in front of his face, not putting them on.

"Yeah? When?"

"September 21st, of..." He hesitated. "Of 19...93."

"Well, genuis, I was born in 1992-!"

"So me picking the name in the year of 1991 proves me right-!"

"You liar!" You exclaimed. "JARVIS, play back what Tony just said."

Before Tony can object, the ceiling emits his voice, "Of 19...93."

"JARVIS, you're being evicted," was Tony's response. "Pack your things. You're getting uploaded to a surf shop in Daytona Beach."

You laugh, taking the glasses from Tony and putting them into their case.

You were something of an accomplice to Tony's "Iron Man" shtick. You were what he called a "trainee," meaning you didn't fight anybody like Tony did. You practiced, though, and not just in a suit. You did end up giving Tony a black eye, Pepper freaking out over press stuff due to it.

"We can't send you in front of hundreds if people, or broadcast you to millions, if you looked like you run an underground fight club," Pepper exclaimed, pulling his head to the side with a grip on his chin. She looks at you all accusatory like, "You did this?"

"Cool right," you giggle, and pretend to bop Tony on the side of the face again. Peppers eyes roll before she stalks away, heels clicking.

"I'm her favorite," you say as she walks away.

"Nuh-uh."

"Yeah-huh."

You sat on a gray couch, wearing pajamas and eating a bowl of cereal. A peanut butter reeses brand version of cocoa puffs. It tasted like heaven.

"Iron Man," Tony mumbled, reading a newspaper, standing behind you with Pepper. "Hey, that's kinda catchy."

"Thanks, I came up with it," you say, taking a bite of your cereal. Pepper was doing Tony's "makeup" since he had another bruise on his face, and also, the planned press conference scheduled for today was being broadcasted "everywhere."

Probably not in lesser fortunate countries, but you didn't mention that to Pepper. You wanted to stay the "favorite."

On the TV in front of you, the news was playing. You found the news to be exhausting, and quite morally wounding, but you were to lazy to find the remote and change the channel. You wished you could be watching literally anything else though. You had quite a liking for American children's shows. And Hannah Montana was on at this hour, maybe even SpongeBob.

Tony is given a speech, which he looks over as Pepper thanks Agent Coulson.

You wouldn't. The guy ate the last donut this morning, and he doesn't even live here.

As Pepper and Coulson walk out, you turn around in your seat to look at Tony.

"You aren't gonna read that, are you?" You say, crunching the last bites of your cereal.

"Of course I am, who do you take me for," He winks at you. "Now finish your cereal, and get dressed, we have ninety seconds before we have to be out there, and you look like a bum."

"I'm a squatter, it's the New York in me."

"The only 'New York' in you is Venice Pizza."

"And yet, I'm living in Iron Mans house rent free," you say, putting a false wistful look on your face, as Pepper is walking back into the room.

"He's not Iron Man," she shakes her head.

"Is so," you retaliate, walking away, tilting up your bowl to drink the milk out of it.

"You know, I'm starting to belive I'm not Iron Man," Tony says thoughtfully.

"You're not," Pepper scoffs. "And I'm starting to believe I'm raising two children. Y/n! You better come back out here dressed!"

"And now, Mr. Stark will be making a statement," A man onstage says. You're on the sidelines with Pepper. You follow her lead, clapping when she does. Smiling when she does.

You were a star student. Have a star.

You knew what was coming though. Oh boy, Pepper wasn't gonna be Happy. And, well, the head of security, who really was Happy, wasn't exactly gonna be a basket of roses himself.

But when was he ever?

"-To consider that I am a superhero."

Fuck up number one; they never said he was a superhero. You sucked in a breath, knowing the house of cards was about to fall.

As Tony stumbled over his words, a soldier whispered in his ear. Maybe something taboo, or maybe to read his cards. Guess the world will never know...

You have to bow your head, as you were already laughing. You felt Pepper smack you shoulder.

"The truth is..."

You pulled in another large breath, looking at Pepper to show you had composed yourself.

"I am Iron Man."

Justin is about to leave for 10 days. This is the longest he’s ever been away. Ugh.

His work trip is in Dallas. I’m insanely jealous. He gets to see our friends and old neighbors, and he gets to eat at our favorite spots. He wanted us to join, I just thought it would be too much with G&G, who don’t sleep in hotels or travel well. But dang, we should have gone just for the weekend. Regrets.

So many changes are taking place. The school year is wrapping up, Alyssa’s Celebration of Growth is tomorrow. The weather is heating up. I’m hanging out more with my kindergarten mom squad friends. I don’t know. I have big feelings about our first real summer here. Maybe I have some mild PTSD from last summer? I don’t know. The stress of it still makes me nauseous when I think about it. Ha! Maybe the move will be a traumaversary in my life now. Is that possible? Maybe, since the move from CA to TX broke my heart into a million little pieces and MA, while a definite upgrade, was still a small echo of that. Leaving friends and loved ones and places that felt like home and venturing into the great unknown. Sigh. It’s been crazy and fun and exciting and new and great but there have been times where I’ve felt alone, like I’ll never truly fit in here. But there are a bunch of transplants in my kindergarten mom squad and that has helped.

I’ve also met several moms with autistic kiddos. It’s nice to have a support system of people who get it. I used to have so much anxiety about his milestones and meeting kids older than him who eventually developed meaningful speech has been so nice. George has started to say some more meaningful words and phrases (“cracker” for Graham cracker, he refers to himself as “Georgie”, and he tells us “no” now when he doesn’t want to do something). He still says tickle and peekaboo when he wants to play and cheese when you take his picture. He’s getting there. He’ll get there. He’s the cuddliest, sweetest guy with the best disposition out of every kid I’ve ever met. I wouldn’t change him for one second, I just hope I get to hear about his interests some day.

Alyssa still wants to be both JoJo Siwa and a chef. Her favorite songs are Party in the USA and Shake it Off, she dances to them on repeat. I bet she would love Hannah Montana. She has poses now that she practices in the mirror and I honestly think she is perfect in every way. And very entertaining.

Gen is Gen. She is The Boss. Preschool two days a week next year will do her some good I think. The FCC classes are so great but they require parent participation and she rather be with me than her classmates, so her participation level is low. It will be so good for her to be with peers when mom isn’t there. She is so smart, she watches everything and everyone. She talks so much, and most of it sounds like a little grownup, she is very articulate. She is also fascinated by babies and batteries.

That’s pretty much it. Girls will do swim lessons, gardening class, and gymnastics this summer. George will have his IEP program for 3 hours M-Th. We’ll pack a picnic lunch, pick him up from school, and either head to the lake or playground for the afternoon. I’d love to wear them out every day and have early bedtimes. And it’s so much easier to parent outdoors. Weather is perfect here, TX you could really only enjoy the outdoors in the morning or evening, it will be nice to have all day to be outside.

I dont know anything about the lucky pets pack but i own the brown platypus which i got by mailing in 10 stickers to the company. Actually im unsure if they were stickers or something i had to cut out of ten separately bought LPS products but yeah i was really proud of it and named her Hannah Montana as it was my favorite show at the time :3

hannah montana .. i love that. i went looking for the stickers you were talking about, i think these might be them? according to the wiki, there were around nine(?) pets you could obtain from mailing these stickers in :o)

I am okay, thank you. Work is busy and my days are spent on back to back calls in an office chair that is slowly destroying my spine, but otherwise I can't complain!

I am gonna blend both your questions and associate each of the Ewan characters with one of my favourite TV shows!

Abraham - The Walking Dead. I think he'd enjoy the use of weapons, and I have a feeling he'd really like Negan as a character.

Aemond - The Fall of the House of Usher. I think he'd enjoy the gothic horror of it.

Billy Taylor - Derry Girls. It's good, wholesome comedy, and I think it would make him laugh.

Billy Washington - F is for Family. The protagonist, Frank, is a miserable dick, and I think he'd really vibe with that.

Ettore - Black Mirror. It's dark and fucked up, just like he is.

Genyen - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think he'd find Dennis Reynolds extremely relatable.

Michael - Peep Show. "I'm having a good time! Well...not really, but it's like I am!" Need I say more?

Osferth - Letterkenny. This is a bit of a stretch, but I think he and Wayne share a lot of the same values.

Tom - The Boys. It's action packed and funny enough that I feel he'd be into it.

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

usually when i wanna write things i just do it, even if it's just for a scene or two instead of a full-fledged story, so uhh 🤔 I've never written an outsider POV au (except I have, with that one Clarkson fic from Scott's POV on Wayne's flashback nightmare)– okay no. i don't know. this is really hard.

maybe kid fic, because the concept of children rocks and there's something healing about making the blorbos become parents. but other than that, i usually just write things when i wanna write them. :D

24. Are there any easter eggs in [insert fic], and if so, what are they?

you didn't specify the fic, so i'm choosing the fluffball that is nice to meet you, where you been? (the tattoo shop au)

i made a playlist for that fic that i'm playing an embarrassing amount of time at home, and the songs of that are also playing in Steve's studio

Eddie recognises most of these songs, which means he's lame and secretly a swiftie (though he blames Chrissy, which is a safe bet to make)

Steve unironically listens to Hannah Montana songs because they slap and hype him up before and after work

the tattoo Eddie ends up getting is inspired by the actual tattoo that @poebin got while i was writing the story, bc that story is for them. and the thing's name that steve never reveals is Vanderlyle, for reasons that robin is weird and listens to The National too much <3

30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?

the first thing that came to mind was every action scene I've ever had to write, especially in I'll try. I'll try. (but I couldn't be better), all of the Demogorgon scenes. I have a writing style that works kinda well with introspection and an onslaught of emotions and thoughts, a lot of sentences starting with conjunctions (and, but, or, etc.), which makes for a rather narrative style, but I feel like it might not work too well with action-packed scenes. feels a lot like "and then, and then, and then", telling instead of showing, a lot of thoughts between one strike and the next, there's no real flow of action, no scene. (like kuzco hitting pause and explaining what's happening instead of letting the viewer watch it unfold. wait, ouch xD)

my approach to writing fic thereafter hasn't changed, because writing fic isn't entirely about comfort zones. sometimes things just have to happen, and I apologise for how they happen, and then we collectively move on :D but I have also learned that it's absolutely okay to ask people if a scene is okay like that, or for them to tell you why it was okay (@violetsteve I owe you my sanity 🤍)
