Literally, these guys might be wInGlEsS cRoWs but they don’t have any trouble finding attractive managers 😍

You were originally going to take over for Kiyoko by yourself but thankfully, our queen found someone to help you out

Of course, you deal with the usual suspects

*cough* NOYA AND TANAKA *cough*

But honestly, you just carry a water bottle at this point to spray them when they act up

Honestly bravo for keeping your fellow second years in line Yn 😌

However, when it came to keeping the the toddlers of the team in line, you take a different approach

You see, you have a rather soft spot for our precious first years

I mean, they are freaking adorable 🤩

You don’t know exactly why, but you seem to get along well with Kageyama

Whether it be sitting next to him during team meetings or helping him practice during individual training

You just seem to understand this mysterious blueberry boi

Naturally, helping Kageyama means hanging out with his bestie, whom he SWEARS is not his bestie but is definitely his bestie, Hinata 😌

By now, you are use to Hinata and Kageyama fighting

Literally, you pretty much just ignore it

You’ve picked up on signals that tell you if Hinata is in immediate danger ⚠️

So, most of the time, Dadchi leaves the handling of Kags and Hinata to you

And while you are happy to help out, Kageyama begins to feel a certain way…

At first, he literally thinks he’s just hungry 😐

No joke, his stomach fills with butterflies and he feels weird when you enter the gym

So naturally, he thinks he’s hungry

However, he soon starts to feel like maybe it’s more

It’s your laugh, your smile and your jokes

They make him feel warm and happy 🥹

Even when he’s walking with you and Hinata after school, he feels content

At first, it freaks him out

Because like wait, something other than volleyball is making him happy 🤯

Talk about odd…

He doesn’t really understand the feelings he’s having until someone points them out

It’s during a practice match with Date Tech that it first happens

You are busy running around, doing your job when Koganegawa intercepts you

“Hey YN! Could you maybe help me for a second?” He asks, showing you his finger tape that is falling off

“Sure!” You say cheerfully, helping him fix it

Meanwhile, you are joking and laughing with the giant setter, talking about nothing in particular

However 👀 a certain someone is literally GLARING at you

Kageyama doesn’t even try to hide it, his staring holes right thought Koganegawa’s head

Everyone notices it, looking between you and Kageyama until it’s finally all falling into place

The majority of the team is simply flabbergasted that Kageyama has feelings for anything outside of a volleyball

“Oh my god, are you guys seeing this?” Suga says as the team nods in agreement

They aren’t sure what to do because this is completely uncharted territory

Leave it to Hinata to blaze the trail 😌

“Hey crappyama, why are you glaring at Kogane like you want to murder him?” Hinata :D

Kageyama’s neck snaps to Hinata, exorcist style

“This is my normal face dumbass!” Kageyama growls as Hinata stares back

“LIAR!” Tanaka screams

“Looks like the great king has a little crush,” Tsukishima teases

Meanwhile Kageyama is now glaring at his team when you approach

“Hey guys what’s up?” You say as everyone looks to you

“Nothing,” Kageyama says before turning to leave

Poor bby is feeling so much right now ☹️

Sure he finds you cute and fun to be around

But these aren’t feelings he’s had before

And what do we do with new feelings?

That’s right 👏

We push them away and pretend they don’t exist 😃

Ok maybe not but that’s what Kageyama does

Soon he’s ignoring you, literally walking the opposite way when you approach

It’s weird and you start to feel ignored and a little sad

In fact, you even ask Hinata what’s up

“Hey Shoyo, did I say something to upset Tobio? He isn’t talking to me anymore,” you ask

Hinata 👉🏻👁️👄👁️ uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You 👉🏻🤨

You’ve broke our poor Hinata YN, he’s simply stop malfunctioning because he doesn’t know what to say

He doesn’t want to tell you that Kageyama probably, ok defiantly, likes you

But he also doesn’t want you to feel sad

So he goes with neither and acts completely oblivious

“Umm sorry Yn, I don’t know what’s up with him,” he says before running 🏃‍♂️ away from his problems

You are extremely confused and hurt 😔

This continues for a while, still unsure of what you’ve done to upset Kageyama

One day, you as Yachi to take over for you with helping the super volleyball idiots

“Are you sure Yn?” Yachi asks

“Yeah, I don’t think Kageyama wants me around anymore,” you sigh

Yachi is literally ready to just tell you what she and everyone knows but she knows it’s not her place

So she agrees

When Yachi shows up instead of you, Kageyama is so confused

“Where’s Yn?” He asks as Hinata finally loses it

“Kageyama you really are stupid,” he says as Kageyama grabs him by the collar

“What did you say dumbass?” He says, getting in Hinata face

“You’ve been ignoring YN and now they don’t think you want them around you, that’s why they asked Yachi to be here instead of them!” Hinata yells as Yachi stands there, nodding her head

Kageyama 👉🏻😐😳 💡

Without saying a single word, he RUNS from the gym to find you

He finds you cleaning up in the main gym, as he bolts towards you

“YN I LIKE YOU!” He screams as you just stare

“YN I’m sorry I’ve been ignoring you! It’s because I really like you and we’ll I’ve never felt this way before and I was really confused and WOULD YOU PLEASE GO ON A DATE WITH ME?!?” Kageyama screams as you just stand there

You drop what your doing, running to him and hugging him so tight

He reciprocates, hugging you against him

“Oh My God Kageyama has feelings!” Tanaka shouts

You 👉🏻😐🙄 Ennoshita…

Ennoshita just smacks him in the back of the head 👋🏻🧑🏼‍🦲

“YN and crappyama sitting in a tree, K I S S I N G!” Hinata sings

“HINATA YOU MORON YOU BETTER RUN!” Kageyama shouts as he takes after Hinata

“YN control you boyfriend!” Daichi shouts

KingsHighway published this fic, "Floor 4" in which Daichi fights for his life to escape a burning building. I read this scene and was immediately overcome with these visuals and just had to make it a reality.

Every single one of their works is excellent, with no prior knowledge of Haikyuu needed to enjoy the thrilling adventures. Their astounding ability to portray all of their characters so uniquely and authentically human makes every single one of their works captivating. I personally highly recommend Time Enough To Risk It All, but check out all of their works here!

Artwork was completed by the lovely Decarbry. She was a joy to work with and perfectly captured the inspiration I could have never hoped to create on my own. Seeing this come together was like seeing the exact images in my head brought to life in the best way possible.

She was very fast, provided regular updates, and was both professional and kind throughout the process. Her prices are very reasonable and the result was worth every penny! notes: i am LATE! LATE LATE LATE like the rabbit in alice! it was my precious friend, luna’s birthday around 10 days ago but sadly my brain wasn’t working those days, so i hope youll still accept this even if im late!!!! ilsym, i hope you still had a good day even if the plans weren’t big <3 i was thinking of you the entire day!!!

Sugawara stretches his arms over his head and yawns, grateful that he was able to end his class a little early. Mondays can be rough for anyone and he can definitely feel the jitters from his students rub off on him during the last stretch of the afternoon, too. So when the opportunity rose, he took it.

He likes to treat them sometimes, too.

So now he’s on his way back to the teacher’s lounge to grab a cup of coffee and work through the final part of this year’s curriculum – there’s some gaps he has to fill in from another teacher retiring, making him impromptu take over some classes. Usually, he’s more prepared than this.

He nears class 2-A that he knows you’re currently teaching and as he passes, he hears ruckus and scattered cheering before the sliding door flings open.

On her way out, a student named Sakura looks back into the classroom and yells out, “oh, and Happy Birthday again!” before she runs out into the hallway, followed by her classmates.

Birthday? Who?

“Thank you, Sakura!” he hears your voice yell out from the room and he can’t stop himself from popping his head into the doorframe to make sure he heard right. You’re by the teacher’s desk, gathering up papers, small talking with the students still fizzling it out in waves.

“My, my, is it my favorite teacher’s birthday?” Sugawara leans against the frame and try to send you what he hopes is a charming smile and the way you perk up gives him hope.

You laugh at him sheepishly as you put the stack of papers against your chest, seemingly trying to gather yourself, your cheeks burning. You don’t look him in the eyes as you near him. He thinks you’re adorable.

“…Yeah,” you admit, passing him into the hallway but you stop to signal that you want him to follow you. His lips feel wobbly as he happily pushes himself off of the doorframe to follow you down the hall.

There are many things that he loves about being a teacher but he has to admit that one of his favorite parts is the interactions he gets to have with you. Your smile brightens any day, no matter how grey and the habit that the two of you have worked out with the morning coffee in the teacher’s lounge is the best part of his day.

“So… Why was I not aware that today’s your birthday?” he asks as he matches your pace, keeping an eye to dodge the unruly students running around the hallways. He’s supposed to scold them for running, the back of his mind reminds him, but he’s too focused on you. It’s an interesting thing, to keep a birthday hidden. Says a lot about a person.

You seem to straighten your back, “oh!”

You then sigh and relax again, “I’m not sure. Just didn’t think it was that important to mention.”

Sugawara inwardly winces – he’s afraid he hasn’t been clear enough about his intentions of getting closer to you. Whether or not you’d ever return his feelings romantically (he might be going too far with his wistful thinking he reprimands himself), he’s still very much interested in a friendship. Maybe he hasn’t been clear enough?

“What!” he exclaims, surprise so evident on his face that you stop in your tracks, your eyes locked to his expression. He then says your name with fervor and subconsciously reaches out for your hands but stops himself in the last second.

“I would’ve gotten you a present!” he confesses, pouting before he turns his back and starts walking. He hopes you follow. It’s been a while since he’s used flirting tactics that he used to teach Sawamura. He feels silly and he wipes the palms of his hands on his pantleg, hoping you don’t take notice.

“No, you really shouldn’t!” your voice sounds strained as you follow him. He slides open the door to the teacher’s lounge and signals for you to enter first. When you’re in, he hurries ahead of you to grab you a cup of coffee, bowing slightly as he hands it to you. You chuckle at his antics, shaking your head in affectionate confusion, “what is this, Sugawara?”

He smiles warmly at you, “you deserve royal treatment on a day as today!”

You sit down by your desks next to each other and Sugawara sorts through a bunch of papers to look important. He clears his throat and tries to sound as nonchalant as possible, “so, are there any exciting birthday plans today?”

You hum out a reply that he can’t discern, not looking up from your papers either. He leans his head on his palm and looks towards you, “I bet you’ll be treated to tons of fun, right?”

You stop what you’re doing and sigh, collecting yourself before you confess, “actually… nothing special’s going to happen this year. I’ll probably treat myself to my favorite dish at the Family Mart and watch my favorite show at home, feet on the coffee table.”

You wince at the way Sugawara’s hand falls to his desk in surprise. You knew he’d react like this, he’s a good guy. But bringing up your birthday felt intimate and you weren’t sure how close you were. Maybe he’d think you were attention seeking or fishing for presents if you mentioned it – what if he only saw you as a work acquaintance?

He inhales sharply before he turns his head back down to his desk again, continuing his mock-work. “What’s your favorite at Family Mart then?”

You pause at the question. That was unexpected. You tell him with an unsure voice, ending it in a question mark. He hums and smiles at you, “I’ve never tried that one. Can I join?”

“Eh?”

It’s all you get out before he laughs warmly at you, the bright smile blinding you as he once again leans on his palm (which really is a charming position for him), “it sounds like the perfect start of the week!”

You nod, processing what he just asked. Before you can come up with a yes or no, you mentally walk through the state of your apartment. Is it messy? Have you left anything out in the open?

You’re safe, you conclude. So you nod again, “I mean… if you don’t have anything else to do?”

He laughs again, “nothing as important as this!”

You reach the Family Mart with your palms sweating, the distance between your hands so close that your heart is currently stuck in your throat. He’s so close. It’s close enough so that if you just swung your hand slightly, you’d touch him.

And then you could hold onto it.

You shake your head at the thought to collect yourself. After picking up the drinks you want and the meals, you go to the counter.

“Would you like me to heat it up?” the cashier asks and you politely decline, looking for your wallet.

“Would you like a bag?”

You nod and she starts collecting your items in the bag for you. You announce you want to pay with card but Sugawara puts a final item on the counter and announces, “I’m paying with cash for it all.”

It’s a keychain. It’s not fancy or big. It’s a little black crow in chibi-style. You’re frozen in confusion staring at the small item, following it as the cashier puts it in the bag as well.

You’re not back in your own body before Sugawara gently pushes you by your back to signal you to move, and he guides you out the store, bag in hand.

When you get out you stop in your tracks, “ah! Did you get the receipt? I’ll pay half!”

Sugawara shakes his head with a smile as he goes through the content of the bag, exclaiming a small sound of victory when he finds what he needs. He pulls out the keychain and hands it to you, his cheeks burning red.

“I swear I would’ve gotten you something way better if I’d been prepared. I’ll even make it up to you with a delayed present at another time! but I thought you might… like this… one as a small substitute.”

He laughs awkwardly when you neither reply nor move. Did he mess up? “You don’t have to… accept it, if you don’t like it…”

That makes your brain restart as you inhale, “please! Don’t think I don’t like it! I’m just…” you struggle to search for words but decide to just hold out your palms, “I really, really love it… and that’s two really’s!” he seems to visibly relax as he puts the small item in your palm, flinching at the contact with your hand – he wants to grab onto it so badly, “I think I’m just… overwhelmed, I must admit.”

Sugawara sighs deeply, “phew, I’m so glad I didn’t weird you out!” he admits and you hurry to shake your head, “no! No… you could never! I just wasn’t sure of… how the closeness of our relationship.”

Sugawara’s mouth opens and closes soundlessly. He’s not sure if he should tell you now – it feels like the perfect time but what if he’s reading it wrong? He straightens his back and steels his resolve.

Without thinking, he bows. He grimaces as he looks at the ground – that move wasn’t part of his confession plans he’s made up in his head the past few months.

“I actually really, really like you! With two really’s!”

He’s afraid to straighten his back and look you in the eye. There are so many emotions going through him right now, fear being the most prevalent one.

You clench the keychain in your hands, the meaning of it soaring through the sky even higher than when he first gave it to you. You smile as you say his name with a wobbly tilt to your tone, “I like you, too.”

Sugawara wants to pump his arms into the air in victory but he settles on just looking up at you with stars shining in his eyes, “really!? That’s amazing!” he leans forward to hug you and you yelp out in surprise. You don’t hold back from taking in his scent though – it fits the one you’ve been imagining for so long.

“Happy birthday, again.” He whispers into your head and you laugh into his chest, “this might be the best one yet.”

JUNE 13TH 2021 — SUGAWARA KOUSHI

+ Established relationship.

+ In honor of Suga’s birthday on Monday, here is a repost of last year’s fic from my old blog. It has not been edited be warned.

4:31 a.m.

Sugawara was confused at first when he woke up. The usual sound of his alarm sounding in the quiet room was nowhere to be found. Instead, he felt your soft hand gently cupping his cheek, the soft moonlight lit up your room showing the slight smile on your face as you stared up at him.

“I knew you’d wake up.” You spoke quietly, resting your cheek against his chest still.

He had a habit of waking up at the same time he needed to for work every day, even on the weekend when he was allowed a few extra hours to sleep in.

“Why are you awake?” He asked, voice groggy as he leaned into your hand, you couldn’t help but smile at his question.

You were quiet for a moment, admiring the way his eyes lit up in the moonlight. He was so pretty, especially when he first woke up, eyes heavy with sleep and hair a slight mess.

Waking up with him was something you try to do, but normally he wouldn’t want you to bother yourself with him getting ready for work, wanting you to get as much sleep as you could instead of worrying over him.

Usually, you listened, now barely waking up when his quiet alarm sounded each morning. But, today was different, there was a reason for you to be excited, wanting to be awake when he was sure to wake up for the first time, his sleep schedule nearly set in stone. Even in the summer when his classes were done, it seemed like he woke up at the exact same time each morning.

Sugawara raised an eyebrow at your silence, shifting to pull the covers further over the two of you before sliding his arm over your waist to pull you even closer into his chest.

“Go back to sleep, baby.” He said, pressing his lips to the top of your hair softly. The heaviness of your own eyelids mixing with the comfort he enveloped you in was almost enough to lull you back to sleep, despite the excitement pooling in your stomach.

You wanted to listen to him, but this was too important to you to just go back to sleep without saying anything now.

Pressing one hand into the mattress next to him, you slipped your other one further up his chest to balance yourself as you moved over him, leaning your face close to his. Ignoring the confused look slowly covering his features, you closed the distance between your lips. Pressing a soft kiss to them, cupping his face once more as you did.

“What was that for?” He breathed out once you pulled away, a smile pulling at his lips now.

“Don’t tell me you forgot?” You almost laughed, not sure if he truly did, or if it was his sleep fogged brain.

“Forgot… what?”

You only smiled again, pressing a small kiss to the corner of his lips before kissing him once more, this one lasting a bit longer than the first. His hands slipped up your torso, pulling you closer to his chest as he kissed you back.

“Happy Birthday, Koushi.” You whispered against his lips, your obvious smile lacing the tone of your voice.

Sugawara brought both of his hands to your cheeks after a moment, staring into your gaze, you could spend forever picking apart the emotions swimming in them, but it wouldn’t be enough. His chest filled with warmth as you buried your face into the crook of his neck, cuddling yourself close to him once more.

“Thank you.” He spoke after a long moment of silence, for a moment he wasn’t even sure if you were awake anymore or not.

“Mm, you’re welcome.”

“Go to sleep, y/n.”

9:06 a.m.

“Do you want to go to the little café downtown?” Sugawara asked leaning against the door frame of the bathroom. This was the third time within the last five minutes that he had gone in there, asking you random things before.

You shook your head smiling to yourself at the question, there was no way you were going to turn down that offer but he could’ve waited until you got out of the shower to ask at least.

“Sure, that sounds like fun, I heard that they got new seasonal drinks anyway. We could try a couple and grab some breakfast too.” You spoke a little louder than normal, trying to talk over the stream of water.

“Yeah, their food was really good last time, and plus that means we don’t have to cook.”

“I wouldn’t even have let you cook today, Kou. You’re supposed to have a relaxing day, remember? Now, as much as I love talking to you, I’m almost done so get out.” You laughed softly and moved under the warm water, nearly sighing at the feeling. The bathroom went silent but for some reason, you had a feeling that Sugawara hadn’t actually left.

Pausing your movements for a moment, you stood trying to listen over the sound of the water. You didn’t have to wait that long before he let out a loud very dramatic sigh.

“Koushi?”

“Yes?” His answer came quickly, he had probably gotten impatient when you didn’t notice him still in the bathroom right away.

Rolling your eyes at the eagerness in his tone, you crossed your arms as if he could see you. Contemplating if you really wanted to ask him to join you, your quick shower would most likely be dragged out if he did.

“Do you want to come in?” You knew a part of you would almost regret asking him, but when he didn’t even answer before you heard him start shuffling around the bathroom as he shed his clothes, you knew he was waiting for you to ask.

He slipped into the shower, arms wrapping around your waist almost immediately. A goofy smile rested on his lips when you shook your head at him.

“Keep your hands to yourself.” Turning around in his hold, you placed your hands on his about to take them off when you caught his bottom lip jut out into a small pout. “We’re going to be late you know.”

“Late? You can’t be late on your birthday; it just doesn’t work like that. Besides, this is so much more fun. We can get breakfast after.” He said before leaning closer to you, the water slipping down both of your bodies now was beyond relaxing, you found yourself unable to say no.

“You’re lucky you’re cute, Kou.” You spoke after a moment, an amused smile adorning your features as you slipped your arms around his neck. He knew you couldn’t say no to him, and he definitely used it to his advantage, not that you were complaining in the slightest.

“You have to be nice to me, it is my birthday.”

The grin pulled at his lips before he pressed a kiss to yours and moved his hands further, wandering down your body almost making you take back your decision on letting him in.. almost.

3:31 p.m.

“What time are we going out to dinner?” Sugawara called from your shared bedroom, his voice just barely carrying into the kitchen.

You had shooed him out of the kitchen a little while ago, insisting that you didn’t need his help. It was hard to convince him to just do nothing and let you ‘slave away in the kitchen.

“Um, I think everyone is meeting at the restaurant around six.” You answered after closing the oven door, checking for the third time if what you had been working on was done or not.

The brownies were taking longer to bake than the box’s expert instructions said they would. Maybe it was because you added more ingredients to them than what they called for, but again you couldn’t say no to the pout Sugawara offered you when he asked you to make the brownies fancy.

You had planned on making a cake for his birthday, but somehow you mixed up the boxes at the grocery store. Going there after leaving the café, which you were most definitely late to, was interesting, to say the least.

The short grocery list you had written in your notes was suddenly replaced with almost a cartful of stuff that the two of you had stumbled upon, turning the quick grocery trip into something much longer.

When you had gone down the baking aisle, you had just barely missed Sugawara swapping out the cake mix box for brownies, something you knew was his favorite. If he would’ve asked you probably wouldn’t have told him no.

After the two of you got back to the apartment, you quickly put the groceries away, stashing the new wine he had found in the back of the fridge so it would be chilled by the time you came home for the night.

“Don’t look at me like that, I was bored without you.” Sugawara nearly whined as you raised your eyebrows at him when he slipped into the kitchen once again, always dramatic whenever he could be. Eyes trained on the bowl you mixed the batter in; he swiped a finger around the edge collecting some before bringing it to his lips. “This is really good.”

“You’re not supposed to eat the batter.”

You couldn’t stop him though, especially when he offered the bowl to you obviously wanting you to follow his actions, rolling your eyes you copied him. The batter was really good, the rich chocolate flavor was better than you thought.

“Oh, you have some left on your lips,” Sugawara said, motioning to his own lips before he moved closer to you once you somehow couldn’t wipe away whatever he was looking at. You were starting to think he was just messing with you when your hand was clean after you dragged the back of it against your lips. “Hm, let me help.”

He caged you against the counter and pressed his lips to yours, you could taste the lingering flavor of the batter. Your hands tangled in his hair as he pressed closer to you, and he smiled into the deepening kiss.

The timer going off broke the trance that had fallen over you, and you pulled away first not wanting to burn what you were baking.

“Is the batter gone?” You asked pointing to your lips after you set the brownies on a cooling rack.

“Hm? Oh, there wasn’t anything there, I just wanted to kiss you.”

9:49 p.m.

“Wait, you guys don’t have to sing! I promise it’s fine-“

“No, absolutely not you are not getting out of this!”

You couldn’t help but laugh at the expression on Sugawara’s face as the entire table started to sing, everyone already being several drinks in only made the simple song of happy birthday into something.. interesting.

Everyone had been at the restaurant for a while now, dinner being done long ago, the night shifting into something more relaxing and carefree. Starting off with a couple toasts for Sugawara, shifting into a round of shots for the birthday boy. Thankful that classes were out for the summer already, he took the shots happily.

Even if he weren’t the best at handling his liquor, this was his birthday so you couldn’t find it in yourself to tell him he should maybe slow down. You didn’t drink anything, opting to be the one who drove you two back to your apartment after the night ended.

The loud chatter that spilled from your table, filling the otherwise quiet restaurant was starting to become a bit much for the workers there, and you could only apologize to them so many times before you thought it was best that maybe everyone took it outside.

Sugawara leaned into you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders as the group walked toward the exit, a huge smile plastered onto his face as he watched his friends before him.

“You alright?” You asked slipping your arm around his waist when he stumbled just a little bit. He was far from drunk, but the few drinks in his system made it a little easier to miss the cracks in the sidewalk.

“Yeah, I’m perfect.” He grinned at you, leaning in to press a quick kiss to your cheek.

It wasn’t long after everyone was out of the restaurant that it was decided to end the night there, Sugawara had no problem with it, shooing his friends away so they could go home and get some rest for work in the morning. They left with the promise of meeting up soon hanging in the air.

“Ready to go home?” You asked, spinning around in his hold to face him properly. The night was amazing so far, and you just hoped that Sugawara felt it too.

“Sure.”

Lacing your hand in his, you pulled him toward the car. The whole ride home you listened to his stories of him and his friends in high school, even if they were a little hard to follow sometimes, you found yourself laughing along to them.

It didn’t take long to get back to your apartment, and you could tell Sugawara was still very much wide awake, excitedly pulling you toward the door.

“Lets have a movie night, since it is my birthday and all, you can’t say no to my rom coms.” He unlocked the door quickly; you could only shake your head in response.

“I’ll get the blankets; you want to get the snacks and stuff? You can pick the movie; I’ll even watch your movies I guess..”

“You guess? I can’t even look at you right now. You’re breaking my heart, on my birthday of all days.” He placed his hand on his chest, groaning dramatically despite the smile still tugging on his lips.

“Shut up, now get ready I’ll be right back.”

11:57 p.m.

“Kou..” You spoke softly, pushing your hand through his soft hair. He had only made it through a few minutes of the movie before curling into your side on the couch, after that it didn’t take him long to slowly start nodding off.

He didn’t fall fully asleep, when you asked if he wanted you to turn the movie off or not he answered no, that he was just resting his eyes and that he was listening to it.

But he wasn’t very convincing, by the time the movie had finished he looked like he was sound asleep, it took you a few tries to get his attention.

“Hm?” He blinked a few times, staring up at you with heavy lidded eyes. “Did I miss the ending of the movie?”

“Mhm, this is the third time too, I don’t think you’ve stayed up through a full movie in a long time.” You laughed a little, bringing your other hand to cup his face smiling once he leaned into your touch.

It grew quiet between the two of you, if you hadn’t been looking down at him you might’ve thought he fell asleep again.

“Thank you for today, it was really fun.”

Your eyes softened when Sugawara smiled up at you, turning his head to press a small kiss to your hand. He always grew quiet cuddly when he was tired, and today had been a pretty long day, running around a lot more than you’d normally do.

“You don’t have to thank me, Koushi. I’m glad you enjoyed your birthday; it was nice seeing your friends again too.” You spoke, slipping your hand from his hair to rest against his back, pulling him closer to you. “You’re tired, do you want to go to bed?”

“Mm, not yet. I’ve got a couple minutes left of my birthday for you to spoil me like this.”

For some reason, something clicked in your brain and your eyes widened a little bit. You weren’t sure how you had forgotten, or what made you remember but you could kick yourself.

“Oh my god, I forgot to give you your gift.” You groaned softly, slowly starting to move off of the couch before Sugawara stopped you, ignoring the questioning look you gave him.

“Tomorrow… no gift can be better than you, so this is all I need right now.”

He was so cheesy at times, it made you wonder if he got some of the stuff he said from the rom coms he forced you to watch with him.

“Well, then you’ll have a little extra of your birthday tomorrow too.” You rested your head against the back of the couch, smiling down at him again.

“I love you; you know that?” He pushed off the couch some to bring his face close to yours, a mischievous glint shining in his bright eyes.

“I know.” You grinned against his lips when you both seemed to cross the small space between them. It didn’t take long for his hands to find your waist, pulling you close to him. “I love you too.”

Haikyuu!! Boyfriend Headcanons: Daichi, Sugawara, Kageyama, and Yamaguchi

Daichi Sawamura:

He loves to go all out for your birthday… he’ll decorate your room with balloons and streamers in your favorite colors, bring out a cake for you to blow out the candles, and then shower you in presents. 🥰

Speaking of presents, he loves to gift you plushies at the most random moments. He just can’t stop himself from buying the cute things whenever he thinks of how happy it would make you.

A big fan of cheesy pick up lines, if for nothing else than to see you laugh 💀

Whenever you guys are in a crowded place, like the mall or a busy street, his arm instinctively wraps around your waist. He’ll hold you close to his side and grip his fingers to your shirt.

He’s always looking out for you. He notices when your shoe is untied, stops you before you walk into someone, and even catches things flying in your direction before they can hit you! He’ll be damned if you get hurt on his watch! 🥰
