Help a Filipino family with a newborn and three other kids stay in their home!

UPDATED POST about the Tolentinos' situation after some negotiation with the new landowner!

Right now they have to come up with 6,000 pesos (about 120 dollars) by the end of April, 6,000 more by the end of June, and 12,000 pesos (about 240 dollars) more in December. (So basically around 480 dollars, with a quarter of it due immediately. This is less than what they WERE going to have to pay.)

In case you missed the earlier post, here's the deal in the nutshell: Jhane's* dad is partially disabled, and works as a taxi driver two days a week, for about 10,000 pesos (less than 200 dollars) a month, which is about all he can manage. But twenty years ago, the Tolentinos built a house for their family on land they were told they could occupy forever.

The landowner passed away, and his heir refuses to honor the agreement. He is demanding the Tolentinos start paying rent or vacate the house they built. After some negotiating, the price is dropped a bit, and he is allowing them to purchase the property their house is on (once again, the house they BUILT there, because they were promised they could stay there forever), but they have to come up with the above amounts by the times indicated or forfeit the deal.

If they can get through these first few payments, they hope to be able to handle things on their own, but this came out of the blue, and right now they need a hand.

*In case you don't remember Jhane (@geniussheepworld), she's been a friend of the family since 2021, shortly before El was born. Back when I was hooked up to an oxygen machine for a month, Jhane moved in with us to help Zoey (@thesurestthing) take care of Baby El and me, and pretty much just became part of our little family. She's living with us again to reduce the financial strain on the rest of the family, but that's all we can really afford to do.

P.S. This is originating on my blog instead of hers because she's new to Tumblr, and we don't want her to get mistaken for a bot or anything, whereas I've been here since 2012.

Hi, I want to do a riders + being in other riders’ box to give them advice gifset for my MotoGP things series and I could use some help for references. As it is I’m thinking of :

Fabio/Tony : bazillion races to choose from, I have everything in my tag for them, all set there

Marc/Alex : I’ve seen pictures but I don’t have a specific session/video to use for now

Aleix/Jorge : I’ve seen extracts from Jorge’s Moto3 days in a tiktok video but haven’t identified the race (might be able to use the tiktok video but not sure)

Aleix/Pol : I think the red flag during Estoril 2010 should be fine (but taking other recs if you have some)

Fabio/Jake : Assen, before the MotoGP race

I know that there has to be much more examples so, if you have anything in mind please tell me.

I might also do something about riders visiting each other on the grid (or combine all that in the same gifset if I don’t have enough content)

I also know Valentino has been here for Bezz & Luca a bunch of times. I think I already have that in my dedicated tags too (but it’s kind of a special case because of Vale’s implication with VR46).

Hey fish and water plant people!

Best place you know for getting healthy live plants, live invertebrates, and live fish (can be different for each, if you got different experiences.

The closest in-person aquaria place is literally almost an hour drive away (that isn't a fuckin' Petco/Petsmart Hell), so I'm interested in what breeders of fish and plants work best over shipping. I got a load of my tank set-up supplies delivered yesterday (though the tank itself and its heater, thermometer, cleaner siphon and one bit of hardscape are still coming this week), so really plant experience online is more what I'd need to know at the moment.

I wish the old independent pet store with the nice aquarium room and all the supplies and advice from the keeper in the town ten minutes away was still open, but I think it closed in the early 2010s long after my parents got their kissers and such. *heavy sigh*

I Need some Help with my Medical Debt

I'm Neo-Rose Edelstein McLeod (black nonbinary they/them), and in January, I had a tumor removed from my face. The surgery left me with $3,000 of medical debt that I'm becoming unable to pay.

While I do work, and take commissions on the side, the former doesn't pay much at all, and the latter don't come in very often, so any donations would be amazing.

#tension headaches #headaches #migraines #help tag #(and yes at this point we think at least some of my migraines are being triggered by tension) #i mean i do have a muscle relaxant but i don't want to destroy my sleep schedule tonight #and surely there's gotta be an exercise or massage technique or something #when it gets this bad it's hard to get out of hunched-over jaw-clenched position because of the pain from the headache #gonna try some heat and essential oils and hope the excedrin renews my will to function #can't pinpoint exactly what's going on today but pretty sure overstimulation now results in headaches #went to some loud concerts yesterday and the fatigue hit way faster than i was expecting #(it's a bad sign when i have lost the energy to emote or finish my sentences and it's only mid-day) #and instead of a full-on migraine #i've just had this underlying headache ever since #(think i headed off the migraine by taking a nap) #but at this point it's like *what's the point* when i try to figure out what triggered a headache #because it's usually a lot of things and boils down to overtaxing myself

SO I'm sorry for this late reply BUT it depends how much of your description you change. If you add or subtract a couple things? Nope you're good, it'll just tweek it a bit. If you rewrite the entire thing then you'll be close to square one if you didn't phrase it the exact right way. Also the star system has gotten more strict lately so I've started only 4 starring EXTREMELY accurate information or behavior while good behavior is definitely 3 star worthy!!

sometimes you just have to let yourself be a bit neurodivergent.

i hate going out, it gives me a lot of anxiety and sensory input that i dont like, and i am often forced to talk to people.

so i do this thing on more difficult days, or sometimes just for fun, where i "bring a fictional character with me". i walk and imagine Fictional Character walking next to me. they talk to me, reassure me, hype me up, whatever i need them to do.

today dean winchester came christmas shopping with me. he went over the list with me of stuff i needed to get, told me i was doing a good job every time i finished in a certain shop, reminded me to take a deep breath when i got a little overwhelmed.

and yea. its kinda silly. and i know its just me talking to myself in a different voice, but it Works! especially since all of my special interests/hyperfixations tend to be tv/movie related.

so do what you gotta do to Get Shit Done. stop holding yourself to neurotypical standards. if you need Fictional Character to tell you you're doing a good job, do it! if you need Favourite Singer to walk you to school, do it! yea it might feel silly but you're literally fighting against your own brain to get stuff done every single day. you can have a little self indulgent daydream, as a treat.

Is it better to have a more cube-shaped standard 5-gallon aquarium for potential betta, plant, and snail buddies, or to seek the largest possible aquarium size that still fits in the space you have set aside (7.5 gallon) even though it's a little odd in construction and you likely will need to buy a different, less deadly-powerful filter for it?

My dream is to at least start with a nice planted little tank with one betta fish and either some snails or a pair of smaller corydoras to be buddies and cleaners. Maybe later graduating to have like a proper big 30 gallon community tank somewhere more central in the house and not on the empty part of my desk. I've had a betta before (with some embarrassingly bad husbandry during young tweenage years before upgrading slightly and having my Chompy live a good 6 years despite being a shoplifted sickly Walmart fish). Family have had a number of freshwater fish before---from Kissing Gourami to Common Pleco to guppies to Upside-down catfish to Shubunkin Goldfish (sadly, I can't find the larger tanks stored anywhere so I think mom or dad tossed them).

I've done some significant research in what companions are alright for betta fish, what time frame to cycle a small tank, and some into how to introduce plants to a tank and keep them healthy. My question for fishblr is: Does brand matter more than overall volume in tanks? Would a more tried-and-true 5 gallon be better than a more ordinary 7 or 8 gallon option?
