1. He what now?
Tumblr media
Genre: Yoongi x OC
Warnings: none
Word Count: 2.4k
Synopsis: The first time Cara Richie sets foot on the Graham Norton show she’s confronted with questions that have less to do with her upcoming film “Young Rising”, and much more to do with BTS. More specifically with one of their rappers, Suga. Cara is an open supporter and fan of the band, however when Min Yoongi is shipped with the bilingual up-and-coming actress after mentioning her in an interview, things start to get out of hand. Fanart, twitter trends, and stalkers ensue, leaving Cara’s career up to an unknown fate. Then comes the moment the world didn’t even realize it was waiting for: a solo track from Agust D that raises more questions than answers, especially for Cara.
I would recommend the Graham Norton show to anybody purely based off the quality of their couches.
It’s our five minute call when Sebastian Stan, my co-star and annoyingly close friend, shakes me out of my half-asleep daze.
“Hey, we’re about to be called up. Ready?” He helps me to sit up, laughing at the state of my hair. No doubt it looks like a bird’s nest. He motions for one of the crew to help me out, a petite makeup artist appearing out of nowhere and touching up my hair.
“Yeah, I’m excited I swear. I just wish I wasn’t so tired.” Sebastian and I rolled in from where we were shooting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo at about ten o’clock this morning. I have yet to recover from the long trip. Unfortunately, our interview was scheduled for tonight, and we stand to begin our course of promoting the movie for the foreseeable future. It’ll still be a few hours before I can crawl into a bed.
“At least it’s only an hour time difference, right?” Sebastian stands me up, instructing me to do some stretching.
“At least we finally have service. I haven’t spoken to my family in three months, they probably think you killed me and left me there in the middle of the jungle.”
One of the perks of our on location shooting was the fact that we only had a couple of satellite phones. No contact with the outside world for nearly three months. I grew way too attached to it, although the one downside was not getting to know how my family and friends were. A lot can happen in three months. I’ve been so rushed to get ready and get over here to the show that I’ve hardly had any time to even glance at my phone besides a cursory text to my group chat with my family letting them know that I’m still alive and back in civilization.
“Tempting, but too many witnesses.” Sebastian winks at me, coming to attention when we’re motioned over by one of the staff. Glancing at the TV in the waiting room I can see Graham Norton beginning to introduce us.
“Our next guests have just re-entered into civilization, so do excuse them if they’re a little off. Please welcome the dashing Sebastian Stan and lovely Cara Richie!”
Sebastian motions for me to go first, and I jump out into the bright lights. Even though I’ve been on a few shows by now, it never gets old. Granted, I’ve only had one successful blockbuster. Maybe I won’t feel the same once that number starts to climb.
I greet Graham before settling down on the couch beside Billie Eilish, the musical guest of the day. I’ve met Billie before, we actually became fast friends. I was invited to a music awards show (I found out that actors are often invited to them for some reason), and we decided to ditch the after party and settle for pizza and a movie instead.
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, glad to know you’re still alive.” Billie mumbles.
“Barely,” I whisper back. Sebastian sits down on the other side of me, waving to a few people in the audience. There are a group of girls near the front row that scream even louder when I look their way, and I smile at them. Sebastian sure does have an affect on people.
“Well, well. Glad to see you’ve made it. Didn’t you two just fly in this morning?” Sebastian jumps in to answer. I appreciate him taking the lead, he definitely has a lot more experience than me.
“Sure did. I think you’re trying to kill us, Graham.” Graham gasps, every bit the entertaining host.
“Now, Cara,” I smile at the man, hopefully masking my exhaustion. I’m a huge fan of him, and I want to leave a good impression. “This is your second major film. How are you feeling with all of the attention you’ve received? Because really, you came out of nowhere.”
I nod, reminding myself not to depend on Sebastian. “That’s true, I kind of did. It’s been amazing though. I think they sent me off to the middle of nowhere so it wouldn’t go to my head.” Graham laughs, the audience joining in. I sit up a little straighter because of it.
“That’s probably smart on their part. Really, from what I’ve seen of the previews for this film, it’s called ‘Young Rising’, correct?” We nod. “Right. It looks quite intense. But you two, you two are lovers in this.”
I shoot Sebastian a look that tells him we are anything but. “Yeah,” I draw out the word. “You could say that.”
“I really don’t know what they were thinking, putting the two of us together.”
“You mean to say that you don’t like each other at all?” Graham asks, feigning concern.
I shake my head. “I loathe him. But he won’t leave me alone, can you believe it?”
Graham nods. “Actually, I can. After all, you were recently named among the ‘most wanted’ stars in the world.”
I look at Billie completely surprised. “I was?” I ask her. She nods, shrugging her shoulders.
“Most wanted? That makes me sound like a criminal!”
“Isn’t that the point?” Sebastian taunts.
We continue bickering for a while. “I had no idea, but really I have no clue what’s happened over the past three months.”
Graham hums, shuffling through his papers before coming upon what he was looking for. “Really? Well I find that quite interesting, because something happened just last week on this show.” Suddenly the girls up front start screaming again, hardly able to contain themselves.
I look at Sebastian. “What did you do?” I whisper. He shakes his head at me, mouthing ‘nothing’.
“Alright, calm down you three. I haven’t even gotten the chance to tell her yet, you’re going to spoil the surprise!” WIth great effort the girls pipe down. Graham swivels back to me, a mischievous smile on his face.
“Oh no, what surprise?” I groan.
Billie pats my knee. “I know what this is about, it’s been all over twitter. This is what I’m thinking of, right?” Billie asks, shooting me a close-lipped smile.
“All over twitter? I haven’t had a chance to check twitter.” To be honest, I was putting off checking the hot mess that is social media. Three months of peace and quiet have been so nice, I’m clinging to it before I have to dive back in.
“Last week, we had a very special musical guest. You’re a fan of BTS, aren’t you?”I nod, furrowing my eyebrows. Where is he going with any of this?
“Yeah, I love them. We were just listening to them in the car, actually.” I gesture between Sebastian and I. Graham studies us like a textbook, nodding along.
“That’s perfect! They came on the show last week, it was amazing. Wasn’t it?” The audience cheers and claps in response. “We got to have a little chat before they performed. A nice little heart to heart if you will. Somehow, I have no idea how, we got onto the topic of their love lives.”
We all give him a complimentary laugh, knowing full well how they got onto that topic. Any successful interviewer knows their way around questions to make even the most composed celebrity fidget in their seat until they slip up.
“Oh did you?” Sebastian prompts Graham on. I know him well enough that he’s just wanting to move on at this point. We’re here to talk about our movie, not BTS. Heaven knows they’re famous enough already.
“Yes. You’ve heard of Suga?” I nod. I know who each of the members are, I really do like them a lot. “Well, he said something quite interesting, er, about you.”
My eyebrows flit up. “About me? He knows who I am?”The audience laughs, the girls in the front are practically causing an earthquake with how much jumping around they’re doing.
“He most certainly does. In fact, when I asked the boys if there was anyone they had their eye on, they all immediately turned to him! It was difficult to get it out of him, to say the least, but I found out that he’s a big fan of yours. And not just from a professional standpoint, if you know what I mean.” Graham winks at me even as my mouth falls open.
Me?
“You’ll have to watch the clip,” Billie says, nudging me. “It’s been all anyone can talk about all week. It’s been so annoying, I see your name everywhere now.” She laughs, and I pull myself together enough to laugh along with her. I look around, reminding myself that I’m on international television, and word will get around quick if I look like a high schooler that just got asked to the prom by her long-time crush.
Even though that’s exactly what I feel like.
The rest of the interview passes in a blur, Graham even going to far as to show me a couple of tweets with the hashtag, #CaraBTS. I’m just relieved there isn’t some weird couple name trending...yet.
“Oh, look at this one! You’ll love it.” Graham holds his paper up to the light, reading off of it. “‘This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill. Cara and Yoongi are finally happening. I’ve been pushing for this since I found out she went to school in Seoul!’ It would appear this has been a long time coming for some fans. There are others that aren’t quite as excited though, as you can imagine.”
Shuffling his papers he pulls out another tweet. “Here we are, ‘I’m telling you if Cara Richie lays a single finger on my lil meow meow I’m suing.’ Well isn’t that lovely?”
We finally move on, Sebastian telling a funny story from our time filming in the Congo. I add in whatever tidbits I can, but I remain so focused on looking normal and unbothered by this new information that I nearly miss Billie getting up to sing. It’s during her performance, when the lights are down low and our mics are turned off that Sebastian nudges me, whispering something under his breath.
He makes it look like he’s pointing something out on stage, “Hey, you alright?”
I nod along, looking for all the world like we’re chatting about the lighting. It’s true that it looks striking, the dark greens and blues cut across the stage, highlighting Billie’s haunting voice.
“I think I will be. Is this going to be a disaster? Now all anybody will want to talk about is my love life.”
“Which we both know is nonexistent.”
“Exact-hey!” I shove my friend before turning my attention back to the performance. I still can’t quite relax, but I feel a little better. At least I have Sebastian by my side. He certainly knows how to remain low-key when it comes to the press.
Once the interview ends the three girls at the front squeal until I look at Sebastian who gives me a shrug.
“I don’t think it’s for me,” he gestures to them. “Look at their sign.”
Sneaking a glance over there my eyes widen and I struggle to keep my mouth from hanging open. One of the girls holds up a little poster that I didn’t see before. She probably wasn’t allowed to hold it up during the show because she would block other people’s view.
There, written in big bold miss that only a blind man could miss it reads:
                Cara x Yoongi nation
Graham notices my attention from where he’s saying goodbye to Billie and makes his way over to me. He gives me a pat on the back.
“That,” he points out the sign that is now burned into my eyelids. “Is only the beginning, love.”
🌙
By the time Sebastian and I make it back to the hotel where the rest of the cast and director/producers are staying, I want to lock my door and throw something.
Sebastian told me not to check twitter, but I ignored him. Curiosity did kill the cat, folks. News flash.
If I wasn’t known before, I certainly am now. Twitter is a mess of supportive fans, those fans who are heartbroken but happy for Suga, and the fans that are out for blood. Like, real blood. I’ve read the words “better watch out” so many times that I can’t help but look over my shoulder every few minutes.
I do appreciate the fans that claim that only true ARMY will support the boys’ decisions. Nevertheless, I decide to hold off any kind of presence on social media until further notice. A glance at the official BTS twitter shows them doing the same thing, apparently. I’m not sure whether I should be relieved or worried about that.
“I told you not to,” Sebastian chides once we enter the hotel. “Now you’re all depressed.”
“I’m not depressed,” I defend myself. “Just nervous. I’m not sure what this means for my whole acting career. I don’t like knowing that I have no control over it.”
Sebastian wraps an arm around my shoulders as we enter the elevator. “Not to worry, I’m sure the PR team is on it. Stacey is good with these kinds of things. Trust me, I’ve put her through enough near disasters that this will be a piece of cake.”
Sebastian and I share managers, PR reps, and many more things. We’re strange friends, thrown together through a series of random events, but I’m so grateful for him. I would be so lost without all the resources he’s provided me with.
I give a dry laugh, slumping against my friend as the thought of being so close to a bed only serves to make me more tired. “She’s probably glad that it’s not you for a change.”
“Yeah, probably.”Sebastian bids me goodnight, heading down to his room on the other end of the hall. I can hear our director and a couple of the producers talking, but it’s too muffled to make out much more than their voices. I’m too tired anyways, so I opt to head straight to my room and get into bed before anyone can ask me any questions. I barely make it into my pajamas before I hit the mattress, sighing as I sink into the covers.
“Ah, finally. Goodnight world,” I mumble, turning to flip my phone on silent. The moment I go to grab my phone, it lights up with a notification. Groaning, I pick it up, squinting at the light.
“He...he what now?”

Orange Blossom At The Bottom Of A Shot Glass
Summary: Salty is followed by sour, which should always be followed by sweet.
Word Count: almost 3.7k
Warning: little cursing, little sexual tension, a bunch of sweet and fluff
Author Notes: ::taps on mic:: Soooo it’s been a GOOD while. The muse has been a little bit of a fickle bitch. Or a lot of one, actually. Also didn’t help that the last piece I wrote totally went a hard boom splat - gee thanks tall idiot Canadian one for that :P
HOWEVER, the muse decided to let go with some of the hockey boys and me play with some words for J’s Winter Writing Challenge. I’m just one day off deadline, though I still want to fill the other 1-2 I was thinking of. Thank you J for pulling this all together, you’re a peach.
This one, is the first attempt at writing Tyler, so please be kind to a girl. It was fun to play in this little part of my hockeysphere/hockeyblr.
I’m also maybe possibly most likely making this into a verse/series. Cause y’all should know that’s how I roll.
The prompt from the challenge was:  “Take another step and I can’t be held responsible for my actions.”
Tumblr media
“From the cute one in the three piece purple suit at the end of the bar, said to get you another of whatever you’re drinking,” Misty says, sliding the half-sugar rimmed martini glass across the copper bar top. “Wouldn’t even entertain doing this if I didn’t know most of them.”
“Thanks Mis,” you smile, pushing your empty glass towards her.
You peek down slyly towards the right. A gaggle of tall, well dressed men circle the far end. You think some look familiar. Then you see who Misty meant when he turns towards the front of the bar and towards where you’re sitting. You know straightaway who he is, know the reputation, the rumblings. It’s hard not to, as big as Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is, it’s not at the same time. It also helps that you’ve been a hockey fan since birth, paying attention to the boys in green since you moved to Dallas a handful of years ago.
“Misty are you fucking kidding me?” you snap when she wanders back towards you.
“Nope,” she grins like the cat who got the canary. “You should go over and say thank you. Promise you, you may think you know, but he’s a good guy. The lot of them are.”
You shake your head no, downing half your drink in one sip before wiping your finger against the glass to lick at some of the sanding sugar. Misty’s blood orange martinis are your favorite, and a weakness you cannot kick when she’s got the good stuff in stock.
“Give me a blank tabcard and a pen,” you ask. “How many of them are down there? Do a round of shots on my bill, but lemme think of what to send while I write this.”
Misty places one of her pens, a card and your Visa to the right of your cocktail. You carefully fold the card in half, tearing it in two. On one half you cleanly script out your name and cell number while on the second half, you write a cheeky little note:
If you can figure out what the shot is, Misty has something for you. Thanks for the martini, the second always hits better especially when you lick the sugar rim.
“Mis, do you know how to make a reckless slut?” you snicker, capping the pen.
“Red-headed slut, but with whiskey instead of Jaeger yeah?” she questions, looking underneath the bar for a bigger, clean cocktail shaker.
“Honey whiskey if you’ve got it,” you respond, polishing off the rest of your martini before gathering your things. “Then it’s just a touch lighter on the peach. If he can guess it right, then you give him the second half of the note.”
“You got it, I’ll see you,” she waves, off to the middle of the bar to find more ingredients.
You carefully glance down towards the opposite end, noticing the boys all wrapped up so you carefully slip out to make your exit, smiling and shaking your head.
“I’m absolutely insane,” you say out loud to yourself as you head towards your car.
“Segs, my girl left this for you and a round on her for the rest of the motley crew,” Misty explains, slipping him the first card before handing out the shot glasses.
“What she say?” Jamie nudges.
“Other than I missed her licking the rim of her glass?” he chides. “I need to guess what this is and then Misty has something for me, supposedly.”
“I do,” Misty replies, handing the rest of the shots out. “She picked a bit of a good one to leave for you too. Cheers boys, bellow if you need anything.”
He lifts the glass, sniffing it at first, not having any clue.
“J, Rads you guys have any idea?” Tyler asks, they both shake their head.
“Bottoms up,” Jamie adds before they all tip the shots back.
“Anybody?” Tyler pushes again, glasses clicking on the copper.
“I know,” a voice chimes in from the back, dropping the empty shot glass onto the bar.
“Come on then Dicky,” Tyler urges.
He looks at Tyler, trying to hold back a laugh but it doesn’t work.
“It’s a reckless slut,” he manages out between his laughter. “It’s something else dark in place of Jägermeister. Slightly fitting, eh?”
The group busts out in hoops, hollers and their own peals of laughter while Tyler shoves at the one closest to him, this time it’s Alex.
“Whiskey, honey whiskey actually, so nice one there Jason. Winner gets this,” Misty trills happily, wiggling a card in front of the group.
“Hey, wait a second,” Tyler snaps, trying to lean over to snatch the card from the bartender.
“That’s the rules she set,” she says, flicking the card over to his teammate. “Take it up with him, he got it right.”
“What’s it worth?” Jason grins, fist bumping with Misty before turning more towards Tyler.
“Not whatever you’re scheming in that brain of yours,” he takes a pull off his beer.
“I was just gonna say take care of dinner tonight, but if it’s not worth that,” Jason trails off.
“Damnit Dicky,” he sighs, hand flexing around the bottle.
“Let’s go boys, they’re ready for us,” Joe interjects from the outskirts of the group, nodding to the back dining room. “And we like it here so no bloodshed, ok?”
You’re just about to slip the key into your front door lock when your phone buzzes in quick repeated blips. You juggle everything in, snag a bottle of water from the fridge before plopping down on the couch to see what has your phone trilling.
So, Tyler didn’t win the challenge, I did and Misty followed the rules passing it to the winner! Hi, I’m Jason.
::selfie of Jason with the boys scattered about behind him at the bar::
I’m refusing for a bit to give him your number. Want to spare and maybe prepare you before I do. Plus, it’s fun to watch him squirm for a bit when it comes to shit like this.
The reckless slut shot was a nice touch, so I’m hopeful in assuming when you spotted us, him really, you kind of knew who was all down at that end of the bar. Probably have heard some things about his adventures and antics, cause who hasn’t.
I can tell you most of it is blown out of proportion, don’t get me wrong he has his fun, but he’s not an asshole.
Maybe we can all do lunch after practice? I’m happy to play buffer if you don’t want to deal with him solo. We’ll go somewhere solid and make him pick it up :)
You cannot help but smile when flipping through the messages, making sure to save both Jason’s number and ridiculous selfie to your contacts list. You fire off a quick thanks text to Misty before you settle in to figure out the best reply to Jason.
You’re a good teammate and a better friend. I would also make him squirm for a bit too, little shit deserves a bit of discomfort.
I appreciate that, Jason – thank you. I know better than to judge a book by its cover, but it’s hard when the Cliffs Notes versions are face up all over the place. Plus, a lady can never be too careful.
Want to try lunch next week, the three of us? I can’t remember what your upcoming game sitch is like, sorry. Maybe PS214? Something good that’s not too fussy, but chill. Plus, they should have enough options for whatever your nutritionist wants you boys to try to stick to or options to totally cheat out on.
I’ve got some flex in my schedule for lunches, my later afternoons get to be what’s stickier.
You know they were having a team dinner, so you don’t expect a response right away, so you pull yourself together to wash up and get to bed. You wake up to a flurry of more texts the next morning, plans for lunch Monday their practice and a video clip of the two of them, which was utterly ridiculous and adorable at the same time. It eased your tensions just a touch, but lunch would be the kicker.
“There’s my favorite foodie,” Phil the manager says, hugging you immediately. “I was so happy to see your name on the reservations. Is this a work thing or a pleasure thing?”
“Little of both, I’ve got two possibly three of Dallas’ favorite hockey team joining me which is why I asked about the back-corner alcove,” you explain. “But I also want to taste some of the new things you’ve been floating both at the bar and on the menu. Nothing formal yet, but I’m thinking of trying to pull together something around new happy hour approaches.”
“I think one of your lunch companions just walked in,” Phil responds, as you catch someone walking towards the two of you from the corner of your eye. “I know him and his wife, they’ve been in a few times. Hey Jason, nice to see you.”
“Hey Phil, wasn’t sure if you’d be here, good to see you. You’ve met one half of my lunch date already?” he shakes Phil’s hand before reaching for yours.
“She and I run in the same circles, mutual friends, some projects that have crossed paths,” Phil adds. “We’re waiting on one more, yes?”
His phone trills, “It’s Segs, he’s parking now and apologized for being late. He had to let the pups out because his dog sitter couldn’t get there early today.”
“I was early, force of habit, so no worries,” you reply. “He’s going to be pretty much on time in the grand scheme. Plus, I got some actual work done talking to Phil before you got here, so it’s all good.”
“Jason, you best not be trying to steal her from me already,” Tyler claps his shoulder before setting his eyes on you. “You’ve got someone waiting for you at home.”
You can’t help but half roll your eyes and half chuckle, “Nice to officially meet you, Tyler.”
He reaches out, his hand easily dwarfs yours, “You too, Clementine.”
“If you are all ready, we’ve got the table you asked for set,” Phil nods to the right, into the dining room.
“You were mentioning your work when I came in?” Tyler questions as you all sit down.
“I guess you could say I’m a lifestyle writer, mostly food and drink but I’ve dabbled in some travel,” you say. “I started out with my own blog back when I was in college trying to figure out what I wanted to do with life and it kind of got a following from there. I refuse to say influencer, cause no I’m not. Not my schtick. Actual writing pays the bills, not sponsored Instagram or blog posts. I refused to let my baby No Fork become something tainted like that, I think why it became so successful.”
“Wait, wait. You’re A Girl With No Fork? Seriously, my wife is obsessed with your insta page and the blog,” Jason exclaims. “She’s going to lose her ish that I’m having lunch with you.”
“Still blogging but keeping that a little more separate now a days. There’s more bylines with Infatuation, Food and Wine, a good deal with some the local papers. I may have a piece end up with Bon Appetite if this pitch I’m working on comes to fruition,” you explain, taking a sip of what Phil just placed in front of you. “Trying to keep a little of that anonymity left to keep Fork as respected as it is. Your wife and I need to brunch at some point then.”
Phil comes by to ask about any allergies or dietary restrictions, the rest is up to him and the chef, and you know you’re all in good hands.
“So, a pretty girl with a unique name,” Tyler leads. “Feels like there’s probably a good story there.”
“I was a surprisingly early baby, literally my Mom went into labor at 35 weeks and in an orange grove. That was her craving when she was pregnant with me, a ton of citrus. Hence the name,” you smile. “It’s rare I hear anyone other than her use my full name anymore. Even my pen name for my byline on pieces uses my initials. Friends mostly call me C or Em.”
“No Emmy?” Tyler questions.
You shake your head, cheeks flushing. You’ve never allowed that by anyone; not that anyone has ever tried that out for size. It always felt to too special to you, wanting to hold on to that for the right person.
“Let me see these puppies that made you late,” you divert.
“Once you get him started on the three stooges, you cannot go back,” Jason rolls his eyes. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“I’ll be the judge of that,” you smile, making grabby hands for his phone. “Come on I know you’ve got a ton of photos and videos on there.”
“They’re definitely a handful, and not so much puppies anymore. Though Gerry would fight me on that, he’s the baby,” Tyler grins wide before pulling up a video of three dogs running around like crazy in what looks to be his backyard pool.
Lunch was more of the same, good food, good conversation and a bunch of joking around. Smart play by Jason to recommend it this way, he’s as much of a sweetheart as his texts made him out to be and helps ease some of the worries you had about Tyler. And Tyler, you found yourself gravitating to him a lot more than you thought you would. You all didn’t realize it until the shift change was happening how long you actually spent in the back booth. As you’re saying goodbye, hugs are passed around between the group of you this time.
“We’re keeping you around by the way,” Tyler whispers in your ear. “Welcome to the crew.”
You fall into a quirky but easy friendship with Tyler and Jason after that, eventually Jamie too once the boys drag him to one of your tasting outings. It evolves quickly from random texting to grabbing meals and drinks, hanging out after games, even meeting Tyler at the dog park to finally meet his trio of crazy pups during one of your crazy timed breaks in your schedule that matched up before he needed to get into his pre-game routine.
Gerry is running amok hopping around with a German Sheppard while Cash just wants Tyler to throw a stick for him to fetch repeatedly. Marshall, however, has taken residence with his head in your lap.
“I know your younger brothers are insane,” you coo, rubbing the chocolate lab’s ear as he nuzzles into your thigh. “I’m sorry I have to leave you with them in a few.”
“So soon?” Tyler asks, tossing Cash’s favorite stick a little father. “You like just got here. He also just doesn’t cuddle like that with anyone. Feel special, so you shouldn’t leave him either.”
“Only a quick break today. Deadlines looming and a bourbon tasting that need to get done if I’m meeting you guys later after the game,” you explain, fingers digging into Marshall’s fur again.
“At some point you do need to come to a game,” he sasses as Cash comes barreling into his legs, Gerry not far behind. “I know you’re a hockey fan, you can’t hide that Em.”
“Perhaps maybe,” you tease, rolling your eyes sticking your tongue out at him. “Ok Marsh, I’m sorry buddy but I gotta go.”
Marshall just slides his head further into your lap, while now Cash head butts your free hand as Gerry crashes into your legs.
“I’m so sorry boys, we’ll have another playdate soon I promise,” you call to them as you pet all their heads.
“Where’s my goodbye pets and love?” he cheekily leans his head towards you.
“Oh Ty,” rolling your eyes as you get up.
You lean in as you were going to kiss his cheek, but you just tweak his nose and flip his snapback off, “See you tonight superstar.”
Misty is thankfully behind the bar again tonight at Oak and Cork, except this time you’re in the middle of the crazy group instead of the far end of the bar.
“You hitting that yet?” Alex grins wiggling his eyebrows and nodding to where you’re leaning against the bar talking to Misty while she makes your drink.
Tyler shoves his teammate, “Dude.”
“First off, don’t be crass. Em is in the damn room. And that’s a no by the way,” Jason rolls his eyes at Alex after handing off glasses to the two of them. “He most definitely wants to; I think that she does too. They just won’t actually talk about it.”
“She sent you reckless slut shots, I think you can talk to her about fucking,” Alex replies, taking a pull from his drink.
“Emmy. She’s not just some random girl to dick and dump, Rads. Fucks sake,” he sighs, hand threading through his hair as he looks over in your direction where you’re talking with Jamie, Joe and his wife.
“Emmy, eh? That speaks volumes. Just ask her already,” Jason interjects. “We’re all tired of your crank ass. I’m going to find my better half.”
“He’s right,” Alex taps his glass against Tyler’s. “Go to her. Ask her. Kiss her. Less cranky, more goals, more fucking.”
Tyler shakes his head, downing the rest of his drink in one go. He snags a bottle of beer from one of the buckets left out on the bar for the group before he looks for somewhere to take a breather. You catch him stalking off to the patio, amber glass clenched in his hand with his brows knitted together.
“He ok?” you ask Jamie, pointing towards the door where Tyler’s walking through.
“That’s not a good Tyler face,” he sighs. “I should…”
“No, stay. I’ll go check,” you interrupt, polishing off your martini to head outside.
“Hard to have congratulatory drinks when the first star of the game is hiding out on the patio,” you call out.
He shrugs, not turning around at first but you can see the tension across his shoulders even through his dress shirt. You take a couple steps out towards him.
“Hey, come on. Can’t be that bad. Right? Nothing’s wrong with the pups? Your family?” you tread carefully not knowing what could have happened between the dog park and that moment.
He turns around slowly, not looking up at first.
“Tyler, what’s going on?” your concern lacing through your voice clearly.
“I still think about that night here, you know?” he starts, placing his bottle on the railing next to him before leaning back against it. “I was intrigued, girl at a bar alone on a Friday night. Gorgeous one at that. She kind of saw right through me but dished it back unexpectedly and pretty well. Then, then that damn chaperoned lunch. Kind of just rolled from there.”
“Ty, what are you saying?” you need to make sure where he’s going with this.
“I can’t stop thinking about you, it’s exhilarating and unnerving,” he fights out, coming off the railing. “I still think about kissing you, wanting that, all the damn time.”
“Tyler,” you begin, trying to move closer.
“Take another step and I can’t be held responsible for my actions,” Tyler fights out, hands flexing at his side but looking you straight in the eye.
You can see the clench of his jaw clearly from there, the fire he’s holding back in his eyes. Your breath catches, your heart skips and your stomach flips.
“What if I’m ok with that?” you whisper, slipping an inch closer.
“I need you to be sure, Clementine,” he looks at you carefully, pupils flicking wider.
“Clementine? Really Tyler?” you try to tease to lighten the thick air around the two of you.
“Emmy,” he exhales deeply. “Don’t. Please, not tonight. Not now.”
You nod once he opens his eyes, stepping closer.
“Use your words, Emmy,” he murmurs, one hand grasping your hip while the other comes to cup your cheek, thumb trailing across your skin. “I need to hear you say it, babygirl.”
You’re distracted for a moment, having him that close. His words swirl around your head, your senses are slightly overwhelmed by him. His cologne lingers in your nose and makes your eyes flutter.
“You don’t need to placate me though, I’m a big boy,” he says softly. “Friends is better than nothing.”
“I wouldn’t,” you jump in carefully. “It’s why I waited, why I’m saying yes now to you Ty.”
Tyler pulls you forward and claims your mouth. His tongue wicked, swiping at yours. Your hands slip up behind his neck with fingers tangling in his hair at the nape. You lose sense of time, all you can do is sink further into the kiss, and into him, until you’re out of breath.
“You taste like those damn orange martinis you love. I like it,” he sighs, knuckle trailing against your cheek. “I’ve never felt possessive, but fuck. The thought of anyone else sipping your sugar after that makes me see red, Emmy.”
“Is that the ass backwards Tyler way of asking me out?” you tease, popping up on your toes to nip at his bottom lip.
He surges forward and knocks the breath out of you with another bruising kiss.
“Come to my game tomorrow, wear my jersey. Let me show you off properly, let me take you home after, breakfast with the dogs on the patio in the morning,” he asks, this time his thumb tracing over your bottom lip. “And the game after that and the next one after that, the next weeks and months ahead. Let me show you that I’m not that reckless slut you may think I am. You make me not want to be.”
You smile, nodding and pressing a kiss to the pad of his thumb.

Occursus
Castiel/Dean Winchester Gen/Teen, 4341 words 15x20 coda  AO3 version “The natural environment of the human soul is a human body,” Cas says. “Humans have yet to meet a foreign substrate that they don’t immediately attempt to colonize. My form in Hell was not an exception.”
Then he shuts his mouth very deliberately and gestures back to Dean like his mic is going live in three, two. “Or the bit where my soul gave you some kind of STD?” Dean finishes. “It was a poor analogy. I apologize.” “So what’s a better one?” Castiel drums his fingers for a second. “It’s more like…the way a parasitic jewel wasp injects a cockroach with venom, and transforms it into a willing host for wasp larvae.” “Holy shit are you ever bad at this,” Dean says, with that signature brand of fond horror he special-orders just for Castiel, Angel of the Gourd.
It’s half past midnight by the time Dean gets another run at Cas.
Granted, what the fuck does half past midnight even mean here, where time is as free as tap water? Why does anybody even bother? For all it matters, Dean could set his watch to eleventy minutes past twenty o’ nope and still never miss last call.
Then again, somebody felt it necessary to invent the idea of Tuesday in the first place, and Dean’s not gonna volunteer himself for the task of replacing it with something better. What’s important is that he’s survived (or rather, he hasn’t survived) a battery of poignant moments and tearful reunions. He and Sam hugged out burdens registering in the triple digits. They even had a little fight, pretty much for the fun of it, while Ellen fucking Harvelle watched them over the bar with her eyes shining. She still charged them, though.
Right at the beginning of the party Dean and Castiel had their eyes-across-the-room thing, followed by the same magnetic, exhausted embrace they’ve shared on just about every plane of reality now. Dean supposes he could ask Cas for a nickel tour of the Empty just so they could hit for the cycle, but he’d really rather not. Sam let them eke out a few gruff, tear-choked monosyllables before diving in, sweeping Cas up in a bear hug and laughing like a fucking kid. Dean doesn’t push it, because it’s been longer for Sam, after all. Or something.
And now it’s quiet, just the jukebox and the clink of glasses back in the kitchen, a few folks murmuring in booths. It might be dark outside, it might not; it’s waiting on Dean’s opinion before it commits to anything. And so is Cas, who is standing in the warm glow of the jukebox, hands in his pockets.
Dean walks up, leans against it, bottle still dangling from one hand.
“C’mon, sunshine. I’ll show you yours, you show me mine.”
Cas looks up and into Dean’s eyes with the wary, elegant patience of a deer. “What is it that you would be showing me, Dean?”
Dean gives him a long, languid blink and bites his lip, and Castiel lags for half a second before rolling his own eyes. “I see death hasn’t refined your sense of humor.”
“Nope. Guess the billionth time aint the charm.”
Cas remains stonefaced, which means a corresponding you dumbass blush starts crawling up the sides of Dean’s neck. The jukebox switches records like it’s making a suggestion.
“I’m gonna sit down outside,” Dean says. “C’mon and sit down with me. There’s a patio somewhere, right? Ellen was always talking about adding one out back. No way she hasn’t bossed somebody into buildin’ it.”
“There’s a patio,” Cas says, taking his hands out of his pockets.
Heaven’s patio is pretty nice; twenty square feet, some scattered picnic tables, fences covered in ivy and string lights. It still smells like fresh pine boards. There’s even a fire pit, which seems kinda bougie for the Roadhouse, but hell with it, it’s warm and pretty, and since when did pretentious people get to lay claim to “a hole with a fire in it”? There’s no moon overhead, and so the Milky Way is giving them the full monty — the runnelled spine of it, the ribcage packed with galaxies.
“Are they all alive?” Dean asks. The warmth from inside leaks out of his collar, wisps away.
“Who?”
Dean points up. “The stars. They always make a big deal about how most of the stars you can see from Earth have been dead for millions of years by the time we get the light from ‘em. That still true here? Or is everything on auto-renewal?”
“That’s a very complicated question,” Cas says, not looking up, only at Dean. He does that a lot, Dean knows, but it turns out to mean something different than what Dean had always assumed, which was ironically pretty similar to what it actually meant, but was reassuringly unactionable and therefore unfuckupable.
“I’m a very complicated guy,” Dean says.
Castiel smiles at that. “I don’t actually know the answer,” he admits. “And it would take an extremely long time to investigate. There are some other things I’d rather do first.”
“What, you can’t just call the kid for directory assistance?”
Castiel lets a good-humored sigh. “Like many young people these days, Jack prefers to avoid the phone.”
This is a solid riff, and Dean respects it. He picks the table closest to the fire and takes a bench and Cas sits next to him, instead of opposite. Dean thought he managed to break him of this habit a few years ago, but here all things are made whole again.
“So what,” Cas says, without a single molecule of playfulness or seduction, “is it that you want us to show each other?”
“Yeah, I was…it was a dumb joke. But I mean it, just not in a ‘playing doctor’ way.”
Castiel frowns, tightens his lips; the firelight throws a fluttering shadow across his face.
“I mean…Christ.” Dean takes a medicinal slug of his dwindling beer. “I don’t really look like this anymore either, right?” And he gestures at his usual shitshow personal presentation, which death has also noticeably failed to refine.
Castiel frowns, smoothes his hand across the surface of the table. “This is a corporeal world, Dean. It operates on a different set of rules, but your body here is no more of an illusion than it was on earth.”
“Seriously?” Dean ponders a second, squints through the dim light at his fingernails, at the high-resolution grime contained therein. “Jesus, that sounds like a lot of work. At least compared to Holodeck Heaven.”
“It is. But we didn’t build this place to be a...a…doorprize. It’s a real world,” Castiel enthuses, looming forward. “It’s the one that should have been created for all of you in the first place.” He pauses, glances down. “For all of us.”
Dean shrugs. “Okay, so no holograms. I’ll keep all that in mind next time Charlie tries to convince me to go skydiving.”
Castiel snorts, but not in pure aggravation, so Dean feels like he’s finally got a point on the board. “What I’m sayin’ is…physical or not, this place has different rules, right? So could I look at you without my eyeballs exploding? The…you know, the angel parts of you. Not just your vessel,” and Dean fwippies his hand at Cas to indicate that true beauty is contained within and Dean is completely indifferent to the fact this dork-ass alien managed to bodysnatch a guy who’s never dipped below an 8.5.
“It isn’t a vessel anymore. We can create our own bodies, now.”
“Peachy,” Dean clips, because that shit is a little late coming off the line.
Castiel sighs. “You could see me in that form without coming to harm. But you should know that I don’t consider it any more a reflection who I am than this form. Not anymore.”
Dean rolls the bottle towards him, nudges a knuckle. “You’re a real boy now, huh?”
“Yes, I suppose so,” Castiel says, and smiles a smile so small that Dean would need a microscope to figure out if it’s pleased or pained.
So Dean thwacks the bottle down on the totally-real table and claps his totally-real hands. “Well then let’s go. Hit me with that angel weirdness. If we’re gonna do this, I gotta taste all thirty-one flavors.”
Castiel smiles a little more convincingly, but it still doesn’t reach his eyes. “There are really only the two,” he says, and holds his palms out to the warmth of the fire.
“Great, then we’ll be done in time to catch Letterman. Then if you’re good maybe you can help me shimmy out of this thing.”
Cas cocks his head. “Out of which thing?”
“This super real heavenly meat-suit, dude. It’s not fair if only one of us gets naked. Peep show has to go both ways. I see your angel-face, you see my soul.”
Cas looks stricken, like Dean is asking to suck on his toes next to a playground. “I mean, unless that’d fuck you up,” Dean adds.
“No,” Castiel replies, a little absently. “It wouldn’t fuck me up. But it…wouldn’t really accomplish anything, either.”
“What, no soul kink? That’s bullshit and you know it. You love this crap.”
Castiel replies, “Your soul is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” with the easy confidence of a regular latte order. With the same uncanny, 2 Blessed 2 B Stressed face he had when Dean plowed Ruby’s knife hilt-deep into Jimmy Novak’s sternum, that he had when the Empty collapsed him  like a carcass in an acid bath.
That face shuts Dean right the fuck up, because it sends him skipping backwards into that fucking basement, where his phone is buzzing and the gritty concrete chill of the floor is seeping through his jeans into the useless meat of his legs and leeching into the hot, wet channels of his piece of shit heart.
Turns out you can work up a good little panic attack in heaven, which seems like a significant oversight.
From a million miles away he feels Cas’s warm, dry palm slide over the back of his hand –– there’s a ring there now that Dean lost down a motel sink drain ages ago, is nobody spotting continuity errors here?—then Cas’s hand tightens on his and it feels like a Xanax kicking in. (The good kind, direct from the hot nurse with the little paper cup, not the kind you get in a from a shady burnout at a truckstop, that’s been ground up with baking soda or benadryl and carefully remolded, as if you could possibly give that much of a shit when you’re freaking out bad enough to buy Xanax at a truckstop.)
Point being, he calms the fuck down.
Cas has good hands. They can do a lot of impressive shit, and they look nice doing it. They don’t look like –– they’ve never looked like –– they belong to somebody whose main job is destroying people, places, or things. They’re hands that how to play the cello, or make tables from reclaimed wood, or give soapy, encompassing handjobs in the shower on cold evenings.
“It’s been years, though,” Dean rasps, not looking up yet. “I was a kid when you got me out of Hell, Cas. I’ve done a lot of shit since then. Maybe souls get stretch marks.”
Castiel’s hand tightens on his, clamps it down on the table. “I’ve always been able to see it.”
“Okay,” Dean mumbles, but Cas keeps on going –
“The only time I couldn’t see any part of your soul was when I was without grace, and I promise you that was one of the greatest deprivations imaginable.”
Dean snorts, looks away, but his hand is still on lockdown. “Worse than going hungry, huh?”
“Much.”
“Hey, what about Sam? Or, hell, fucking Donatello. They both were both walking around minus their creamy filling, and you didn’t say boo.”
Cas shrugs. “I can’t see their souls under ordinary circumstances.”
“So what, mine’s just extra loud, or day-glo, or what?”
“It’s both of those things, but that isn’t why,” Cas answers, and the boy is downright wry.
Dean tugs his hand out, raps his knuckles against the wood. “Okay, so stop bein’ coy and tell me before I get a complex. And if you say it’s because of love or some shit, I’m bailing to Rowena’s.”
“You infected me,” Cas says.
“Uh,” says Dean.
The fire pops and a log shifts; Cas glances over at the kerfuffle, absently lifts his fingers to his chin like he’s looking for an old scar. “In Hell, when I retrieved you…I had to grip your raw soul. I was meant to wear a gauntlet, so I wouldn’t be burned.”
Dean snickers. “You’re telling me you were supposed to be wearing a soul condom. What happened, you get too excited and forget to suit up? It’s okay, I know I’m a lot to take in.”
Castiel purses his lips. “No, I was properly armored. But my arm was torn off in combat shortly before I reached you.”
“Ouch.”
“Ouch,” Cas agrees. “I didn’t have time to retrieve the arm or its protection from the pit, so I had to grow a new one very quickly.”
Dean really should’ve switched to whiskey before starting this. “What, you didn’t pack a spare?” He wheezes.
“Ordinarily, yes, I would have had the resources, but I was equipped very lightly for that mission. It was a raid, not a siege. You understand the difference.”
“Sure, yeah, you left your emergency arms in the trunk. So you just popped out a new one. No big.”
“It was a big. Your soul was close enough that it forced me to grow a human arm, instead of a much quicker and more powerful extensor.”
“Okay, uh,” Dean pinches at the bridge of his nose, “there’s a lot to unpack there.”
“What part of it confuses you?”
“I dunno, the bit where apparently angels are I guess heavenly octopuses,”
“The plural in the Greek is octopodes,” Cas interjects, not without pleasure.
Dean glowers. “Or the part where you can apparently swap in different drill bits,” Dean continues,
“Mm,” Cas notes, careful not to open his mouth,
“Or that I, like, accidentally bullied you into growing a person arm,” and Dean pauses for breath here, which Cas evidently takes as permission to dive in with more Planet Earth commentary.
“The natural environment of the human soul is a human body,” he says. “Humans have yet to meet a foreign substrate that they don’t immediately attempt to colonize. My form in Hell was not an exception.” Then he shuts his mouth very deliberately and gestures back to Dean like his mic is going live in three, two.
“Or the bit where my soul gave you some kind of STD?” Dean finishes.
“It was a poor analogy. I apologize.”
“So what’s a better one?”
Castiel drums his fingers for a second, listens to the fire pop in its little cage. “It’s more like…the way a parasitic jewel wasp injects a cockroach with venom, and transforms it into a willing host for wasp larvae.”
“Holy shit are you ever bad at this,” Dean says, with that signature brand of fond horror he special-orders just for Castiel, Angel of the Gourd.
“What I’m trying to avoid saying,” Castiel sighs, “is that you rubbed off on me.”
Dean nods. “Yeah. That’s fair. I wouldn’t be dumb enough to say that around me, either.”  He lays a couple little pats on Cas’s hand. “Lookit you, though, seeing around that corner. I’m proud of you, man. That would’ve totally flipped your breaker back in the day.”
“Just one of the many ways you have reshaped me, Dean,” Cas says, with warm sarcasm.
“Alright, so you rawdogged me, I whammied you. Chocolate, peanut butter, peanut butter, chocolate.”
Cas’s forehead wrinkles in skepticism. “I still prefer the cockroach. But some part of your soul injected itself into one of my more exposed frequencies. Under different circumstances, I would’ve stopped and excised the affected area before it spread, but. I was being pursued, and the mission had taken much longer than any of us anticipated.”
“Us? Thought it was just you down there.”
Cas looks vaguely offended, straightens and folds his arms like he just remembered he’s giving a deposition. “No, of course not. Michael assigned sixty-six angels in eleven groups of six, each escorted to the field by a seraph. We struck simultaneously at six different areas in perdition. From there we dispersed to individual targets –– to cause as much chaos as possible in order to help obscure the object of our mission, and to increase the odds that one of us would actually find you.”
“And you were the lucky winner.” Dean pushes down a touch of sick shame at the thought of it — he’d been coiled up like a snake around somebody else’s torment, anesthetized by it. It was one of the random rags of infernal time where his own pain decreased in proportion to how much he dealt out, and that was the closest thing Hell had to a Friday night.
“I was,” Castiel nods. “I took some liberties with my assignment,” he adds, squinting. “I flattered myself that I shared a special affinity with The Righteous Man.”
“That guy always sounded like kind of a cunt to me,” Dean notes. “You know, not withstanding the fact that I’m him.”
Castiel shrugs. “I found you, and I did what was necessary to save you, and my siblings did what was necessary to save me.” A little falter enters his voice. “Only twelve of us returned from that mission.” Cas looks up, out, away. A dove coos somewhere nearby of the Roadhouse; did it have a run-in with the windshield of an eighteen wheeler one day and show up here, Dean wonders, or does heaven make its own birds from scratch? That’s gotta be a softball compared to whether Betelgeuse is still open for business.
Castiel waits until the bird shuts up, then says, “Of those twelve surviving angels, I personally murdered nine, in everything that followed.”
After a moment Dean says “Yeah,” with practiced neutrality. He’s got some similar tallies, written in Sharpie on the back of his eyelids.
Cas sighs and his attention comes back down to the table. “By the time I received the authority to restore your soul to your body, the infection had spread almost past the point of containment. That’s why I resisted taking a vessel at first. I worried that occupying a human form would speed up the process.”
“Hey now. I thought you showed up naked because you thought I’d be one of those special people,” Dean quips, “Who can handle angel stuff without going all kibbles ’n bits.”
“That was only a partial truth.”
Dean tips the beer bottle in salute. “You’re a real special flavor of asshole, Cas.”
“So I’ve been told. I was right, though. When I took Jimmy as a vessel, I contracted — condensed — myself very severely. The infection had a much shorter distance to travel to reach all of my extremities, and a human form was the most hospitable environment possible.”
“You got a raging case of the Deans.”
Cas’s head kicks back in a laugh that kinda surprises them both. “Yes,” he says, grinning. “I did. I was very displeased, and very concerned I’d be found out and judged unfit for duty. And I very much was. Unfit, that is. Though I was not found out.”
“C’mon, never? You went rogue on the company.”
“Uriel suspected. Naomi certainly detected it later, as did Metatron. But in the moment, no. The Host’s attention was focused on the Apocalypse ahead, not on debriefing a mission that was considered a success. After the Cage was closed, I had too much influence to come under that level of scrutiny.”
“Hmh.” Dean realizes he’s been systematically picking down the label on the beer bottle, so he sets it on the ground before he gets sticky little shreds everywhere. “So I gotta ask. My little souvenir, the handprint. That’s where you grabbed me, with your lil…Mister Potato Head human arm?”
“It is.”
“If I’m the one who infected you, how come I’m the one who got burned?”
“My hand didn’t burn you.”
“Well, it ain’t fingerpaint.”
“Your own soul burned it, as it flowed out of your flesh and into mine. It burned until the moment when I finally released you from my grip. My hand healed itself; your arm did not.” Castiel gives a thin scoff. “I hadn’t planned to leave you interred.”
“Oh, no? Well that’s nice to hear, you know, a decade after the fact. I still have nightmares about that shit.”
Castiel winces. “It’s no excuse, but I was in a great deal of…the equivalent of pain. It took an immense effort to break off the inflow of your soul, and when I did manage it, I was thrown quite a ways by the recoil. By the time I recovered enough to return, you were already looting a gas station,” He finishes, dryly.
“Yeah, well, Dad didn’t think much of leisure as a virtue. Also I was thirsty, because I’d just crawled out of my own grave.”
“And I was distracted, because I’d just fought my way out of the inferno while being digested by a demented human soul.”
“You wanna call it even?”
Cas lifts his brows. “If you don’t mind.”
There is a long, dark breath, during which their little smiles fade.
“So, all that,” Dean says, because he’s a fucking coward.
“All that,” says Cas, because he isn’t.
Dean clears his throat. “That means you can see my soul-stuff 24/7, huh?”
Castiel slides one leg up onto the bench, shifts to sit astride it, like he’s maybe about to deliver an after-school PSA on the Real Deal About Drugs. “I can always see myself, and extensions of my self. And since your soul made itself into an integral part of me…I can see you.”
“I take it that’s not exactly in the manual.”
“No. I didn’t entirely understand it at first — for a long time, I convinced myself it was because you were designed to be a celestial vessel, and that I had been destined to save you from Hell.”
That thin, acidic feelings starts to rise up in Dean’s chest again. “Do you…” A dry swallow reflex grabs his throat. “Hm. Fuck.”
“What?” Cas asks, scooting forward. An angel. Scooting. What a world. “You can ask me anything, Dean. I hope we’re both past being offended.”
“Have you ever thought that. This whole deal. Our…thing.” Dean lets out a breath. “The way you feel about me. The way I feel about you.”
“Do I worry that its only basis is our shared material?”
Dean licks his lips, works a jaw muscle, forces out a nod.
Cas frowns, sets one elbow up against the table, then lets his head tip to the side. “Why do you love Sam?”
Dean rolls his eyes. “Yeah, I get it, he’s my brother. We got shared material, too. But we’re not talking genetics.”
“Genes were the initial basis of your love for Sam. But you share half as much material with Adam. Do you love him fifty percent as much as you do Sam?”
“One, love doesn’t work that way and you know it, and two, fucking of course not. I barely know the guy, and what I’ve seen didn’t exactly blow me away.” Not that the poor dumb kid ever really had a chance. “Sam’s Sam, he’s earned it a million times over just by bein’ him.”
“Then you understand.”
“But Cas, man…I…” Dean laughs, which is an abbreviated form of screaming, “I treated you like shit.”
Cas nods. “You did.”
“Okay, the rules say you’re not supposed to agree with me.”
“But the balance remains in your favor. Dean, are you genuinely afraid that you — care for me…”  and Dean can hear the FCC live-bleep in that one, like does his total cowardice have a special color Cas can see with his soul-o-vision? “Only out of some compulsion?”
“No,” Dean says, to the great surprise of his frontal cortex, which was busy kicking the shit out of itself. “No,” he says again, just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, that that answer actually came out of him and entered the living air between them.
Then the wave is rolling towards him and he enters that slim moment of body-physics where you either take a lungful and commit to diving under the break, or you kick out against the undertow, arch your back to meet the blow, and let yourself be flown all the way up to the waiting shore––
“No,” Dean says, “I love you.” And he chokes up a little, first at the release of saying it, then at how much of exactly jack-shit it changes anything so what was he even scared of, and then at the look on Cas’s face: how he’s frozen. Like that dog from that video, the one that loved tennis balls so goddamn much that his owner bought him a thousand fucking tennis balls and dumps them out all at once and the dog absolutely stalls the fuck out, just seconds on end of underspecced dog-brain hang time before he finally snaps back to reality and loses his absolute shit scrabbling all over the porch.
Castiel comes back online with a little choking noise of his own, and a kind of awkward scrabble for Dean’s hand.
“I have for a long time,” Dean continues, because apparently he’s continuing, “I’ve loved you for fucking ages, Cas. In people years, anyway, I’m sure that mean’s fuckall to somebody who’s a zillion––”
“I don’t,” Cas says thickly, “really give a damn about the age difference, Dean,” and cracks into a chuckle.
“So how come you never knew it?” Dean asks, feeling freedom turn into a hunger or something like vertigo. “If you can see my soul, how could you not know?”
Cas shrugs, a bit helplessly.
“Seriously,” Dean laughs, “how did I manage to hide that shit so well? Sammy found every nudie mag I ever shoplifted.”
Cas shakes his head. “You’ve never actually been able to hide anything from me.”
Dean scoffs. “C’mon, man. I snowed you plenty, or else we woulda had this conversation dirtside a long time ago.”
“Whatever I missed, Dean…it wasn’t because you succeeded at hiding it,” Castiel says, softly. He takes a slow, shaky breath, and meets Dean’s eyes with a smile. He lifts a hand to Dean’s face, bone and flesh on flesh and bone. “I just loved you enough to look away.”
 It’s a long time before they go back inside. By any measure. {AO3}

hometown - calum hood
Tumblr media
summary: fame changes the lifestyle of a person drastically. but the love for somebody you’ve had beforehand always stays the same.
warnings: none
word count: 2.8k
a/n: hi okay this is my first time doing this kinda thing i’m also really new here so i hope u like it :)
-
“you know we could just sell these tickets to the people waiting outside the venue. we don’t have to go.” denise said to me, as i was pacing around the room.
5 seconds of summer were back in sydney, playing a show for their tour. denise being a fan of them and their music, had bought tickets for her and i. however, i was familiar with these guys, & they were familiar with me.
“no, i’m fine. i shouldn’t even be worried about seeing them again. calum is just a boy i dated when we were young and life goes on. it’s no big deal. at this point he probably doesn’t even remember me.” i tried to convince denise, but to be honest i was trying to convince myself more.
“okay, but the moment we step out this door there’s no going back,” she said to me as we both went down the stairs, walking towards the front door of my house.
“you ready?” she asked me as we were both buckled in. “ready as i’ll ever be.” that was all it took for her
to start up the car and drive to the venue.
we arrived, the line to the entrance not being too long. the moment i saw all the people lined up, my nerves got the best of me.
“den, are we on floor?” i asked her as she finished parking the car.
“y/n, we’re front row.” she responded, causing my eyes to widen. “you have got to be fucking joking me,” i said to her, shaking my head. “is it too late to say i wanna go back home?”
“yes, we’re already here! you even told me yourself you’re gonna be okay. i even gave you a second chance to decline the offer before we left your house.” she scolded me, chuckling. “does he have that much of an effect on you after all these years?”
i thought about her question, which i didn’t know how to answer. my thoughts were cut off by her asking another question — “y/n, what even happened between you two?”
-
it was five am and calum & i were sitting on hill, watching the the world wake up. we were together since midnight, him waking me up with a call, saying he wanted to see me before he left. i obviously accepted, and 10 minutes later i was in the passengers seat of his car, driving god knows where. this is where we ended up.
i leaned my head on his shoulder as he snaked his arm around my waist, holding me closer.
“this night has been amazing, baby.” he whispered in my ear, kissing my jawline afterwards.
“it really has,” i sighed, my heart heavy knowing this will be the last time we’ll ever get to do this. “cal, can you promise me something?” i asked him, my heart beating as the words came out of my mouth.
“anything.”
our eyes met each other’s and i grabbed his free hand, intertwining it with mine.
“c-can you promise me, when you take over the world, and live your dream... you won’t forget me? you’ll keep me in the back of your mind?” my voice cracking towards the end of my sentence. i felt my eyes begin to well with tears, and i turned my head down, breaking the eye contact.
“y/n,” he breathed out, taking his finger and lifting my chin up so that i was now looking at him again. “you are the last thing i’d ever forget.” tears were both running down our faces as he continued to speak.
“you are the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me. you’ve been right by my side these past 3 years. you saw the first time i picked up a guitar, you saw me write my first song — you, my first love, basically saw my dream coming true. i can’t imagine none of this happening if you weren’t with me the whole time it happened. we’ve both accepted that things are going to change from now on, but what will never change is the love i have for you. from the bottom of my heart, i promise that i will never forget you.”
he kissed me passionately, wiping the tears falling from my face.
“i’m going to miss you so much cal.” i whispered, pulling him closer to my body.
“i’m going to miss you so much more. i love you with every ounce of my heart, y/n.”
“i love you so much more than that.”
his phone rang, which meant that the rest of the boys have woken up, meaning that they were about to head to the airport in not too long.
“mornin’ mike. yeah, i’m just with y/n right now, i’ll meet you boys there.” he said into the phone, as we both stood up, walking towards his car. he ended the call and we both got inside, our hearts heavy and our eyes stained with tears. the car ride back was silent, not knowing how to say goodbye.
he pulled up at the front of my house, and the both of us got out of the car, slowly walking towards the door.
“so... this is how it ends.” i said softly, using everything in me not to burst into tears again.
“i love you.” he said, grabbing my waist and kissing me once more.
“i love you too.” i said, pulling away from him and sticking my pinky out, giving him a smile. he chuckled, locking his pinky with mine as he gave it a kiss. it might’ve looked like just a pinky promise — things that 10 year olds do — but the both of us knew that this meant so much more than that.
“now go live your dream, baby.”
“it’ll all be for you.”
-
my heart was pounding as i had finished telling denise the story of when we last saw each other. my heart was pounding, and i leaned my head against the dashboard of the car. “fuck, i haven’t thought about that in over 5 years.” i said to her, referring to the story i had just told her.
“there’s no way in hell he doesn’t remember you.”
“he probably doesn’t.”
“well, there’s only one way to find out.” she responded to me, unlocking the car and the both of us getting out.
we walked towards the lineup, which to my relief, has gotten longer since we got here. i was absolutely terrified, but if i knew it i showed any emotion, i would’ve just looked like a super fan crying because i would see my favourite band in concert.
denise noticed my nerves, and grabbed my arm and squeezed it, which always calmed me down for some reason.
unfortunately, the lineup went by super fast and before i knew it, i was next in line getting my ticket scanned and going through the metal detector.
before i knew it, i was standing at the front row of the pit, waiting for the boys to come on stage.
before i knew it, the concert had started and all 4 of the boys were rocking it, with thousands of fans screaming their song lyrics back to them.
“how’s everybody feeling tonight, sydney?!” ashton yelled into the mic, gaining tons of screaming back. “it’s always a pleasure playing for our hometown. this is one of the shows all of us look forward to seeing the most.” ashton continued on with his speech, as luke walked over to the side i was standing at. he began to interact with all the fans that were nearby, pointing at them or catching the roses they threw at him.
his eyes met mine, and his blue eyes widened as he shot me a smile. y/n?! he mouthed, looking happy, shocked and confused. my heart started pounding as i mouthed a little hi! and waved at him.
“oh my god, y/n!” denise screamed at me as luke walked away. “dude, luke is whispering something to calum.”
my head shot up as i looked to the left side of the stage, seeing the two boys talk to each other. i saw him glance at me, then looking away right after. i turned my head back to denise.
“den, did he just look at me?” i asked, feeling like such a fangirl. she responded with a nod, causing my cheeks to redden and the biggest grin appeared on my face.
“now... we weren’t going to play this one tonight, but since the boys are back, we’ve got to reminisce a little bit, right?” calum’s voice filled the room, causing fans to scream once again.
“this one’s called disconnected.”
denise and i turned our heads towards each other with our eyes widened, knowing exactly why. “den...” i said to her.
-
“baby, i need your help.” calum groaned from my desk. i laughed, getting up and walking towards the boy. he patted his thighs, his way of telling me to sit there. i happily obliged, him burying his face into the crook of my neck. “what’s wrong, love?” i asked him.
“i need help coming up with a line.” he told me, and i looked at the paper with all the lyrics he had written down. i picked it up, scanning each word. “this is really good, cal!” i told him.
“it’d be better if i had a finished chorus.” he responded, my eyes wandering to the place he had just written on
i like the summer rain
i like the sounds you make
we put the world away
“help,” he groaned, causing me to laugh. “i feel so disconnected from this song right now.”
“hey... baby why don’t you add that?” i suggested, looking at him. “add what? how i feel so disconnected from the song right now?”
“no, you doofus.” i lightly smacked him on the head, causing him to wince. “something about being disconnected. how about..... we get so disconnected?” i asked him. he shot the biggest smile at me, writing down that lyric underneath the last one.
he began to sing,
“i like the summer rain, i like the sounds you make. we put the world away, we get so disconnected.... BABY THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!!” he exclaimed, standing up and twirling me around as i giggled.
“you’re welcome.”
“what would i do without you?”
-
denise laughed, putting a hand on my shoulder. “how could you ever think that boy forgot about you?”
we enjoyed the rest of the concert, and soon enough, the boys were saying their goodbyes and running off the stage. there was a slight tang in my heart, wanting to see him once again.
the crowd slowly began to exit the venue, and since we were farthest away from the doors, barely anybody was in there as we were leaving. i turned my head once more to the stage, hoping that i could see his face once more.
and there he was, back on stage, looking right at me. his facial expression was unreadable. his mouth was slightly open, and his eyes looked soft. i gave him a little smile, before turning my head around and leaving the building for good.
denise and i opened the car doors and hopped in, exhausted from the 3 hours we had just stood.
“see now was that so bad?” she asked me, causing me to chuckle.
“no not at all honestly. i really enjoyed it.” i responded back to denise, her smiling back at me.
“i can’t believe they sang disconnected.”
“me too.”
i spent the rest of the car ride home thinking about calum, wondering if he was thinking about me tonight, just as much as i was thinking about him.
-
after a long night, i was finally all cleaned up and changed into my pyjamas, more than ready to hop into bed and fall asleep.
until i heard my doorbell ringing.
“what the fuck?” i whispered, getting kind of nervous. it was 2 am, and i had no idea as to why anybody would be in front of my house at this time. i slowly walked to the front door, looking through the peephole.
what the fuck.
there’s no way it’s him.
my heart started beating out of my chest as i slowly started to unlock the front door.
the door had fully opened, revealing the man i had just seen an hour ago.
“c-calum?” i stuttered out, not knowing what to say.
“that’s me.”
“i, you, the fuck- how’d you find me?” i asked him, as i opened the door wider, allowing for him to come inside.
“i stopped by your parents. they said you’d be here.” he responded, walking closer to me as i closed the door. “you came tonight.”
“yeah, you guys played amazing. denise and i really enjoyed it.” i told him, as he grabbed my hand and intertwined it with his.
his eyes stayed stuck on me, examining every part of my body, “you’re still as beautiful as ever.” he told me, a slight blush beginning to form on my cheeks.
“cal stop.” i chuckled. even after 5 years, he still made me feel like the teenager who fell in love with him.
“when luke told me you were in the crowd... i didn’t know how to react. i thought he was lying to me, then i saw you with my very own eyes and everything just came crashing down on me. it took everything in my body not to jump off the stage and just engulf you in the biggest hug ever.” he confessed, causing my heart to swell up.
“how do you manage to give me butterflies the same way you did when we were 17?” i asked him, causing him to chuckle.
“the love i had for you when we were 17 never faded. if anything, it grew. remember everything i told you the last time we saw each other?” he asked me, me nodding my head in response. “i meant every word. my dream was coming true and you were in the back of my mind as i watched it happen, baby.”
i watched the boy in front of me tear up as he continued speaking. “there hasn’t been a day where i don’t think of you. i’ve missed you so much. this journey has been absolutely amazing, but everyday i wished you were beside me so i could enjoy it with you.”
tears were running down my face as he finished. i was speechless. i didn’t know what to do. all i knew is that the love i had for him had never gone away, and the fact that he was standing right in front of me, confessing that he kept his promise made me want to kiss him so hard.
and that’s exactly what i did.
i pulled his body closer to mine and our lips connected passionately, my stomach filling with butterflies the moment it happened. he moved his hands up to my waist, holding me as if i would break under his touch.
we pulled away, him instantly holding me as tight as he could, as if it were the last time he’d ever get to do that.
“i love you, y/n. i never stopped.”
“i love you too, calum.”
he pulled me into another kiss and i swear i felt like i was floating.
i felt like nothing in this world could ever hurt me, and that’s the effect calum always had on me.
“god, i’ve missed you so much.” he mumbled into my neck as he pulled away, swaying the both of our bodies together.
i sighed, pulling away from his embrace. “you know you’re going to have to leave again.” i said sadly.
“this was actually the last show of the tour. i’m staying here for a couple of months.” he responded? causing me to look back up at him with hopeful eyes. “really?”
“yeah, really,” he chuckled, grabbing my hand once again. “and i would be more than happy spending my time here, loving you.”
“b-but, what about when you leave?”
“baby, we’re not 17 anymore. we’ve grown up, we’re old enough to figure out a way to make it through this.” he answered my question, and i smiled, shaking my head, knowing he was right. “so, what do you say? are you in?”
a part of me was scared, knowing his life had changed drastically while mine had stayed the same. it was a lifestyle that was unknown to me; something i’d never thought i’d have to experience.
but throughout the years, that boy’s personality hadn’t changed one bit. he was still the most selfless, heartfelt person — he was still the boy i originally had fallen in love with. which was why i had no hesitation saying,
“calum hood, i would love to love you once again.”

It All Started With A Keychain
Tumblr media
Paring: Shinso x female reader
Warnings: None, just fluff
Word count:1,888 words
Note: I know you all have waited for me to write for sleepy boi, I tried my best and this is the longest time I've taken on writing something. I spent almost three weeks writing and re writing. I hope you all enjoy this!  My ask box is always open!
Tag list: @queensynderella @keigos-dove @tooloudarts @tryna-imagine @zyrielwolf (If you would like to be added to the tag list let me know)
Being a support course student was also your dream, and going to UA was one of the best things that’s happened to you. But being shy and easily scared was a downfall. You were also very, very short, making it hard to reach the tools on the shelves. Your classmates would also put the tools you used on the high shelves. It was all fun and games, you liked to climb. But it was hard sometimes, why? You were an exchange student from the USA, you begged your parents to let you go to school in Japan for the next three years. You hadn’t seen your family and you were getting homesick.
“Hey l/n can you pass me a drill?!” One of your classmates yelled, pulling you out of thought.
“Yeah.” You handed them a drill that was in reach. They nodded as a thank you. This week was the week all the students from the hero course would come down to modify their costumes and support gear. You knew all their faces, but was too scared to talk to them.
You were quiet and shy. You had friends but not a lot. You were also in the workshop, creating new support items for the hero students to try out. But today, a new face was in the classroom.
He was tall, with messy purple hair and soft eyes. He had bags under his eyes. Must be like you, you couldn’t sleep most nights, so he must have the same issue.
“Hey, I need this fixed up.” He said glancing at you, which you hid behind your work area. Your teacher Powerloader looked at it.
“Hmm, this took on a lot of damage Shinso. L/n come here please.”
You came out from your hiding spot, your hair in your face.
 “Yes?”
“Do you mind fixing this up? It shouldn’t take you too long.”
You rubbed your eyes. “Sure.” You took his mouth guard amd look at it. “I’ll have this done by tomorrow morning. Well as long as you didn’t damage it too much.”
Your sensei noticed your tiredness. “Did you sleep last night l/n?”
“Nope! You know me, I can’t sleep even if I tried too.” You put your headphones on and gave a thumbs up. You noticed the boy was looking at you. He walked toward were you were at, your work desk. It was a mess, tools and papers across it. Along with a lot of cups of coffee and tea. You decided not to pay attention to the boy, besides you had work to do. Shinso just stood there and watched you. This was making you nervous. You took off your headphones and goggles.
  “C-Can I help you?”
He rubbed the back of his neck.
“I’m just curious of what your doing?”
“Oh?” You smiled. “Well this doesn’t look too bad; however, I’ll need to order a certain type of martial in order to fix this up. So unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a while. All I can do is fix up the strap that goes around your neck.” You where comfortable taking about things like this but an actual conversation, was unthinkable.
 “I see.”
You set it down and walked towards the large tool box. “Mei, I need a hex key!”
“Look in the tool box that on the top shelf!” She yelled back.
You groaned and grabbed a step stool.
“You need to stop placing the tools in places where other students can’t reach!” Your teacher scolded, some of your classmates giggled.
You were fed up. “I can’t reach this stupid thing! I’m too short!”
You didn’t realize the someone was right next to you. “Is this what you wanted?” He just got the tool box that was labeled with “hex Key”
“Y-Yeah. T-T-Thank you.” He nodded and you smiled sheepishly at him.
Once he left you asked Powerloader what his quirk was.
“Brainwash, he was training with class A and B today. He’ll be a fine hero once he transforms to the hero course.”
You smiled and then worked on the paperwork to get the material you needed.
At the dorms that night your best friend Mei Hatsume came up to you.
“Hey, what was with you and the boy with the purple hair?”
“Oh, nothing much besides I’m just fixing his item up. I have got more information on his quirk so I’m going to ask him tomorrow if I can add something to his support item. Well as long as it’s approved.” You smiled, and took a sip of tea.
“Is that the new baby you’ve been working on, the one that controls sound and can modify it?”
“Yeah, but I know it’s not exactly special. Besides you’ve built more support items than anybody here. I also was thinking about adding a recording mic into it. For spy missions in the future.”
“I’m just working hard and plus sensei banned me from going in after 4 o’clock.” You laughed at the one time one of her babies exploded in the middle of the night.
“Well I’m heading up to my dorm, I’ve got a good book waiting for me.” You grabbed your mug and said goodnight to your friend.
About an hour went by and then someone knocked on your door.
“Come in.” You just thought it was one of your friends, so your nose was still in your book.
“You dropped this earlier and it broke. So, I fixed it.”
You looked up instantly, and set your book down.
He was holding a keychain your mother gave you before you left for Japan. It had beads and a few other charms in it. It was old and has been in your family for generations. You were on the floor, trying not to cry because you missed home and that you almost lost a family air loom. You took the keychain from him and held it close to your heart.
“You’re one of the exchanges students, right?” He was sitting on your floor across from you.
 You could only nod.
“I know your away from home but you’ll be okay.”
“I just feel alone sometimes, and that keychain is something my mom gave me before I left...” You continued to ramble about being homesick. You’d only been away from home for a few months and was starting to re-think everything. But he listened to you.
“So, I guess were the same, both lonely.”
“What do you mean? You’ve got a cool quick and you actually live here.” She looks t him confused.
“I didn’t come to make friends; I came here to become a hero. I assume your aiming to become a support item builder or whatever it’s called?”
“Yes, speaking of support items I was going to ask you about yours.”
He looked at you. “What about it?”
“Well I was thinking about adding a better voice box thingy, so that you cab change your voice better and more quickly. I was also thinking about adding a mic too. For in the future if you go on spy missions. I’ll have to built a receiver so what you record can be transferred to that.”
 He nodded. “Impressive.”
You smiled. “I’ll have to fill out the paperwork to get it approved!”
  Six months later
The two of you somehow become really close friends. You taught him about your culture and family traditions. You also become friends with a girl in class 1-B thanks to Shinso. But today something seemed odd about your purple haired male friend. He was avoiding you all day. So, you decided to bake him his favourite cookies and bring over the tea you two like to drink. Heading over to the 1-C dorms you waved to some of the General study students. You knocked on his door.
“Shinso, it’s me (l/n). I baked your favourite cookies and brought tea.” You smiled and waiting for the door to open.
It didn’t, so you knocked again. You decided it was time for payback, last week he opened your door without knocking. It was by accident but eh. You found Shinso at his desk with headphones on. There was knitting supplies on his bed. You took of his headphones and he jumped.
“Sorry about that. I made cookies!” You gave him the bowl of cookies.
“Thanks y/n.” He only said your first name when he was speaking from his heart.
“You’re welcome Toshi.” You grinned but noticed his face was red. You put your hand on his forehead. “Are you feeling okay? You’ve been avoiding me all day, are you sick?”
He shook his head no. “I’ve been training a lot; I’m just trying to catch up with the rest of the hero course students.” He had a lot on his mind and you. Oh god you just looked cute; you were wearing a hoodie with cat ears on it. He picked up a cookie and started to eat it.
“Well the tea I made should help you get some better sleep.” You smiled and looked at his bed.
“What are you knitting this time?”
He smirked and looked at you. “You’ll find out. I’m almost finished with it though.”
When he smirked, a pink colour was on your cheeks. You’ve liked the boy in front of you for a while but decided not to say anything.
  Two weeks later
Shinso had texted you asking you to meet him in the courtyard. You were excited to be able to hang out with him again. Since he had been really busy the past two weeks. Once you got to the courtyard, you saw him sitting under a cherry tree. But it wasn’t any tree, it was your favorited one. Why? You just liked the way it smelled. You ran up to him and hugged him tightly.
 “Toshi!” You exclaimed.
 He returned the hug.
 “Hi y/n, how are you?”
“Happy now because I haven’t seen you in like two weeks.”
He smiled and handed you a bag.
“Aww, you didn’t have too.” You smiled as you took at the small box. You could see Shinso grinning as you opened the box. Inside was a black knitted cat with a (f/c) collar. It looked like your cat you had back at home. You hugged the cat.
“Thank you, Hitoshi, I love it.”
“You’re welcome.” This boy’s heart almost melted because you had the biggest smile on your face. He couldn’t hold back what he was feeling. He put his arms around your waist.
“I’m sorry for what I’m about to do y/n but I can’t control myself.” Without giving you a change to respond he kissed you on the cheek. “I like your y/n, more than friends.” He was about to walk away before you pulled on his shirt.
“Don’t apologize. Now shut up and kiss me again.” You smirked at him. You gained confidence in yourself thanks to him.
The two of you kissed, it was amazing. Well until someone cleared their throat.
“So, this is what’s been bothering you Shinso.” It was Aizawa. “Glad you to know you two are together, now please, no PDA on the school yard. I’ll let this one side.” He smirked at the two you, he suspected that Shinso had a crush on someone
 Shinso bowed and thanked him.
“So uhh, wanna go out sometime?” You asked sheepishly with the red blush still in your face from the kiss.
He nodded and held your hand.

The Champions Win Their Gold (1/2)
Chapter One: We Won’t Let You Hurt Her, Corbin
Request:  First Part - Reader has a match against Lacey Evans for the Smackdown Women’s Championship belt. Lacey is going to have Baron Corbin on her side, so reader brings cavalry of her own - Seth Rollins. Roman is guest referee and Dean is guest commentator. Match ends up turning into a no DQ. Corbin’s plan backfires on him.
Second Part - Randy’s girlfriend (Reader) accompanies him to his title match against Kofi. Revival shows up to help Randy when the rest of New Day shows and Randy wins, and they kiss. During the post-match brawl, reader gets knocked off the apron and Seth ends up coming out to help her to the back.
Requested by: @wwesarahjaneroszko
A/N - This request was a long one so I decided to make it into two parts where reader’s (Who’s named Amber, but I’m keeping it reader based) match is in first part and Randy’s in second. Also, can I just say I miss Shield? They were like the best faction ever IMO T-T.
A side-note I should mention is that Seth still has his 2-toned hair :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You had a match against Lacey Evans that night for the Smackdown Women’s championship. However, you were real nervous.
Why?
Because Baron Corbin was going to be in Lacey’s corner tonight. And you couldn’t ask your boyfriend, Randy Orton to be out there to help you because he himself had a match against Kofi later on for the main event.
While walking towards the gorilla, you nearly run into Triple H.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Hunter! I wasn’t really watching where-” you started.
“Relax, I was hoping to catch you before your match. Was gonna tell you that you’re not alone out there tonight,” he told you before you can go off on a ramble.
“Wait, what?”
Hunter just smiled at you before walking off, leaving you confused as all hell. Nonetheless, you continued on.
Lacey and Baron were already at gorilla. They haven’t noticed you yet, and you were planning to keep it that way. Baron had a smug look on his face, and you knew that he had a plan to help Lacey win.
You hope Hunter’s plan for tonight would work, because just seeing that smirk on Corbin’s face were setting your nerves on fire.
While you were stewing about your match, you felt a hand on your shoulder. Turning, you spotted Stephanie.
“You’ll do fine, (Y/N). In fact, I’m sure you’re gonna win. I’ll be going out there before them, as I have some stipulations to change.”
You smile gratefully, before turning back to the sound of your entrance theme. You walk out, holding up your right arm, hand clenched into a fist with the back facing outward. On your hand you were wearing a fingerless glove with a viper’s head surrounded by three hounds glaring out at anybody who looks at the glove. Underneath the glove and also on your right hands were wrappings, just like Dean would wrap his hands for a match. The glove was, of course, a symbol for Randy Orton and the Shield.
You make your way to the ring, lowering your hand and having a sly smile on your face. A gimmick, of course, as you were nervous on the inside.
Once you climb through the ropes, your music died down and you hear Stephanie’s kick on. She comes out to the crowd cheering, and smiles. She comes down to the ring.
“Now, before this match gets started, I do have something to say,” she said. She turned a glance to you, before facing the crowd once again.
“I’ve gotten word that some special people were wanting to be out here. And considering the circumstances, I’ve allowed them to be here. (Y/R/N), I’m pretty sure you know these guys,” she said, just before hearing the entrance theme of the group you never thought would be here tonight. You see Roman, Dean, and Seth come down from the audience and join you in the ring, standing between you and the entrance, where Corbin and Lacey were yet to come from.
“There’s more. Roman, you did get the gift I sent you earlier, right?” Stephanie asked, and Roman nodded, unzipping his vest to reveal the black and white striped referee shirt that was underneath, sending the audience into a frenzy.
You were shocked. Not only was the Shield going to be in your corner tonight, Roman was the guest referee. You were starting to feel a bit better about this match.
“That’s not all. Dean, I believe there’s a spot right next to the commentator’s table, waiting for you,” Stephanie added. “Seth, you have the opportunity to be ringside, keeping Corbin in line.”
All Shield members had smirks on their faces, knowing nobody was going to touch you without any harm coming to them. While Dean headed down to the commentator’s table, you hear Lacey Evans’ entrance theme come on, and she and Corbin came out. Boy, they looked absolutely pissed.
Corbin had a microphone of his own. “You can’t do this! It’s not fair!” Corbin protested.
“Oh yes, you’re right. I did, in fact, forget a little key fact. There is No Disqualification.”
And with that, Stephanie leaves for the back, patting Lacey on the shoulder with an ill-meaning ‘good luck’ on the way.
Once Lacey got in the ring, Seth waited until he was positive Corbin wouldn’t try anything before he exited the ring.
“Is this thing on?” Dean asked, adjusting the microphone on his headset. “It’s a great night tonight, isn’t it Cole?”
“Yeah, I would say so, Dean, it would seem as if the Authority has turned their backs against Corbin tonight in this match set-up.”
“I wouldn’t say turn their backs, but I will say that (Y/R/N) may just be the most protected person in the ring. I mean, you got Roman as guest referee, Seth standing ringside making sure Corbin doesn’t pull any of his tricks, and here I am as commentator. Add in the fact that this is a No DQ match, I have a pretty safe bet that (Y/N/N) will win and bring home the gold.”
Dean looks at Corbin and smirks, knowing he could hear him. “And if Corbin tries anything, we’ll be ready.”
*Time Skip A Little Ways Into The Match*
Seth was down for a while, having been tackled by Corbin earlier on, so now Corbin had a little more leeway to interfering. And he got in a lucky shot when he pulled down the top rope, causing you to fall over and down to the ground instead of rebounding off them like you had planned.
You had landed hard on your shoulder, causing you to let out a small cry of pain. Corbin’s small victory was short lived, however, as he was clotheslined by Dean.
Perhaps he should have been a little smarter in his attack and chose a side that the commentator’s table wasn’t on...
Lacey came out and attacked you a few times with a kendo stick before dragging you back into the ring, going for the pinfall.
At least, she tried to. Roman wouldn’t count.
She immediately stood up to yell at him, not paying any attention to you. You stood, and back up into the corner. Outside the ring Dean and Seth were dealing with Baron Corbin.
You saw Roman having a smirk on his face, raising his hands as if surrendering and Lacey turned to deal with you.
Big mistake.
You went for a spear and hit your target, flipping Evans inside out. Immediately, you went in for the pin and Roman counted.
1.
2.
3.
The bell rings.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match, and your NEW Smackdown Women’s champion, (Y/R/N)!” called the ring announcer.
Roman handed you your belt and held up your hand, pointing to you with his free hand. Both of you had huge smiles on your faces, and soon Dean and Seth slid into the ring to celebrate with you.
Seth and Dean lifted you onto their shoulders while Reigns went to grab a microphone.
“You’re looking at your new Women’s champion right here, folks. And later on, you will be witnessing the best power couple in WWE bringing home the gold when Randy Orton wins his match against Kofi Kingston. Believe That!”
With that said, Roman drops his mic, Seth and Dean let you down, and the three of them do their signature move, with their fists held together in unison. All while you stood beside them, holding your new title up high in the air.
BONUS
Corbin was fuming. He thought he told them to come out there and interfere! He stormed to the locker room, finding the Wyatt Family there watching the reruns of the match.
“I thought I told you to come out there and help Evans! Look at what happened to us out there!” he angrily shouted at them.
“Do you really think you can order us around, Corbin?” Bray said, with a minister laugh. “I guess you really need to learn to follow the buzzards.”
EXTRA BONUS
Corbin was called into Stephanie’s office, where he found Stephanie and Hunter standing and talking about plans for the following week.
“Oh, hey, Corbin. Didn’t see you there for a moment. I just wanted to say, I found out about your little plan to have the Wyatt Family interfere, and I gave them an offer they can’t refuse. Also, since Evans lost that match, you are no longer General Manager.”
It would be best to say Corbin’s night was not the greatest. In fact, you would probably say that he shouldn’t have followed the Buzzards, otherwise he wouldn’t have landed in the garbage.

The girls ultimately make it to their interviews with no problem, well one tiny problem. Lauren being so busy avoiding Camila or another encounter like the one this morning she hasn't been able to eat. She's been drinking water, all day. It's completely slips her mind that she hasn't eaten in the past 3 hours.
" Alright everybody welcome Fifth Harmony. " the host said and the girls walk out to the stage
Normani pushes to sit next to Camila and Lauren holds herself back, and she couldn't be more thankful. Moments like this is what makes Lauren feel thankful that someone knows about her situation.
" Thank you. " Lauren whispers in Normani's ear before the host could ask as questions.
During the interview they ask about  pretty general questions.
Are you excited for the rest of the tour?
How was the first day?
How happy are you with the release of your album?
What are you most excited about?
What's it's like to have a number one album on Itunes.
And the are happy to answer, but of course this certain category is simply unavoidable,  boyfriends. " So other than the obvious Ausmila, anybody else in the group taken? " the host asks, Normani elbows Lauren trying to get her today attention seeing that the topic of Luis will be brought up. Lauren chokes on her own spit due to the elbow to the gut, and all Normani does is chuckle.
" Aw c'mon I'm sure we'd all like to know, " he continues to insist, " Well how about this, " he pans a picture and it's Ally and Troy. The fans already know about them which Ally doesn't mind seeing that she is able to control what the fans can and can't see. Lauren wishes she can say the same, she so sick of everyone telling her to be someone she's not.
" Oh, okay I guess it's my turn. " Ally laughs and begins to talk about her and Troy even though she's a tad uncomfortable. Somehow within the midst of Ally talking Lauren begins to day dream about how her life would be different if she isn't in fifth harmony. That if she didn't have this amazing opportunity she'd be with her friends in college. Lauren isn't trying to seem ungrateful, not at all if anything she just wonders what life would be like if Fifth Harmony never existed. Lauren and Camila would never have met, and in Lauren's eyes she would have never fallen in love with Camila.
For the longest time Camila thought about that as well, but no matter how much she'd like to avoid Lauren let alone the idea of her. She's got this feeling that they are meant to be in one another's life. Camila once read that the reason why soulmates exist is because before entering this world, a soul is split into two. And they spend most of their life looking for one another, Camila likes to think she's found hers even though it didn't quite work out how its suppose to.
" Lauren, " Normani elbows Lauren again and she snaps back into reality
" What? " Lauren wonders then she glances over at the screen and see the picture of her and Luis during New Years
" Oh right, yeah we're still going strong, " Lauren laughs making Mani sighs. Normani knows that Lauren is clearly lying which meant that the raven haired girl has to continuously relive this rollercoaster of a relationship.
" What's the most romantic thing he's done? " the interviewer questions
Luis is one of Lauren's first real love, there wasn't anything that boy wouldn't do for Lauren. Lauren felt grounded around him, he loved her before everything and everyone else, and for Lauren that is rare. But Lauren also treasures trust like a regular human being and Luis broke that, and a picture equal 1000 words. Months of recovering, writing and simply working on herself, they decided to give a quick try. Luis admitted that yes he did cheat but although this is no excuse to cheat, he just simply missed her during those months that it made him weak. Soon after their quick rekindling they both agreed to simply stay friends. There was and still is a lot of romantic things he's done prior to the break up, but Lauren being who she is likes keeping those between themselves.
" A lot of things, and I prefer keeping it between he and I. "Lauren comments putting my hair behind her ear looking down trying to avoid everyone's eyes.
That's where the topic of boyfriends died because Dinah and Normani are not ready to tell people yet about who they are dating secretly.  If anyone in this group had the possibility to become a spy it would be those two. At least Mani could be, she's a personified version of a safe. The girl is good with secrets not to mention her banging bod.
" So do you guys know what Camren is? " the host wonders innocently making Lauren to stiffen,  while Camilla looks at her. Lauren and Normani  were really hoping that this topic wouldn't come up again. But here it is,  Normani thought it would be funny to smile at Lauren sheepishly to make light of the tension.
" Yeah I guess it's our like.." Lauren pause hoping that Camila will jump in
"Ship, relationship thing. " Camila finishes
" And? " he pursues
" I mean if that's what makes them happy they can do whatever. " Lauren comment receiving a pat on her thigh from Normani
" Yeah exactly, sure it's weird but hey it's not like it's true," Camila adds some salt to Lauren's wounds.
After that question the interview ends after singing Worth It. Lauren couldn't be happier with herself because in her opinion she didn't  act weird, let alone make the other girls question her. But she was uncomfortable because the topic of Camren came up again. Going back to the venue Normani couldn't be more proud of Lauren so when they arrive she gives her the biggest and warmest hug.
Maybe I am getting over this whole Camren thing you know? Maybe I'm finally getting over her?Yea maybe...
Lauren thought to herself.
Soon after the hug the two girls follow everyone else inside House of Blues and immediately had sound check since the show starts in 7 hours. But knowing their schedule that usually meant fittings, make up, meet and greets, personal shopping errands, maybe a nap here and there. Finally, of course the last 2 hours are vocal warm-up and show finalizations. A lot of work to be done.
" Mic check one. " the sound guy shouts from the sound board
" Mic check one, hello, hello, hello " Camila responds but then sings the last part
He then went on to the other girls. Camila sees from the corner of her eye that Lauren was leaning up against her mic stand. She didn't look so good, Camila tries to catch attention but she seems rather occupied.
As the girls do their soundcheck and choreo reruns Lauren is reminded by the fact that she still hasn't eaten. She suddenly became dizzy and light headed, assuming that she'll simply catch up on food after sound check she decides to shrug it off. The music of Sledgehammer starts and everyone notices Lauren trying to hold onto her mic stand but instead she falls. The last thing Lauren hears and see's are the girls running towards her and Normani shouting  " Lo? Lauren? " before everything goes black.
"Lauren? Lauren!" Janelle runs quickly on stage along with the whole crew, Normani steps back and shouts for everyone to do the same. "Give her some space!" Normani slightly panics biting onto her fingers. Janelle dials 911,
" C'mon let's get her to the dressing room, " Will says and big Rob helpS him. Well Big Rob decides that he would do it himself, since of the size different and all.
" Mila do you have any idea why she passed out like that? " Dinah asks while rubbing Camila shoulders
" No, " Camila rests her head under Dinah arms while grabbing Ally. Mani and looks at the unconscious Lauren. That's when it hits Camila that Lauren rushed to make up and hair with nothing to eat.
•••
" Are you alright Camila? " she hears Lauren's voice get closer to her. They are currently in their first show of the Neon Lights Tour. Camila had ran off of their meet and greet. The fans had started screaming Camren when Lauren gave her a quick hug and kiss on the cheek. Camila couldn't help it, she needed to leave and get out of her touch.
" You're over her Camila. You are over her. You have Austin. " she whispers to herself 10 times trying to remind herself of who she is.
" Yeah, I'll be out in a second. " Camila croaks splashing her face with some water trying to erase any evidence of her red eyes and smeared tears on her cheeks.
" Please let me in. " she beg but Camila has to shake her off.
I need to move on.
Camila thought to herself.
Austin has been helpful with that but Camila needs Lauren to leave her alone. To give her space, that's what she need. SPACE to forget about CAMREN.
" I'll meet you back in the meet and greet. " Camila commands firmly trying to convince her that she's serious. Camila hears her sigh and quietly leave. Camila clears her throat,  fixes her dress and bow, walking out and back to the meet greet. Camila hears the fans scream, while the girls all turned to her. Camila saw the space between Dinah and Lauren , but she pushed Dinah closer to Lauren and stood between Normani and Dinah.
Camila see's Lauren contour her face trying to question her actions, but Camila shrugs it off and calls to the next fan.
---
When they got back to their dressing room, Dinah, Normani, and Ally decided to head to catering for a snack before our next interviewing leaving Lauren and Camila in the room alone.
" Talk to me Camila, " Camila hears Lauren beg walking beside her and caressing her arm, but Camila removes her own hand hand out of Laurens touch.
" I gotta go make a phone call. " Camila excuses herself out of the room and leaves.
•••
" Is she gonna be okay? " Ally ask Will , " Janelle got in touch with 911, they are sending paramedics over and a doctor, they'll be here soon. " he answers tapping on his phone contacting everyone trying to control everything.
" Why not take her to the hospital? " Mani sass angrily at him, without any intention
" The paramedics will make that call, okay and if they do I will call her mother, but if the doctors says she'll be okay here I'll do the same thing. Okay don't worry she'll be fine. " He assure as he walks out of the dressing room and it's only the 5 of them
"She couldn't have been sick because of exhaustion. " Mani rationalizes
" She hasn't eaten all day, " Camila comments sitting next to Mani who is sitting at the end baby Lauren's feet
" I thought she came to catering with you? " Dinah questions
" We didn't have time too, " Camila huffs
" What are we suppose to do? " Camila asks them
" Well we can't do much, we have to keep going I think it's best if she rests in peace. " Ally advises putting her hand out for Camila to take so they can leave Lauren in the room.
" Ally I can't just lea- " Mani tries to reason with her. Back then that would've been Camila that would've said that, but things have changed.
" I agree with Ally babe she needs to sleep. " Dinah sighs and Camila simply agrees
" We'll check up on her after the doctor checks her. " Camila gives Mani a side hug as they walk out of the dressing room.
---
3 hours later, make-up and fittings done the girls can finally take a break and Camila decides to check up on Lauren.
" Mila don't you want some food? " Dinah wonders
" Yea I will you guys go, "
" We'll take food for ya'll " Ally smiles
By the time Camila gets to the dressing room the doctor is only leaving the room. Camila waits for her to leave before approaching Stephen.
" The doctor just got here? " Camila wonders
" No, the doctor the got here at 2 something they've been talking that's all. " he smiles
" Oh. Can I see her?" Camila asks and he gave her a nod
Camila walks inside and found her laying there listening to music and hugging a water bottle.
" Lo? "Camila whispers pulling up a chair right next to her
" Lauren? " Camila repeat herself finally getting Laurens attention.
" Hey Camila? " she croaks in question
" Do you feel better? "
" Yea, " she weakly smiles
" Are you gonna perform tonight o-"
" Hell yeah I am. " she chuckles
" You are one bad bitch Lauren Michelle. " Dinah jokes making everyone laugh.
