I love seeing Jared getting to be home with his family just having game night and being a dad. We know this is what he wanted post-spn and it warms my heart to see it. I love that all of his hard work over the years has paid of with him being able to work where he wants so he can be there for his family
What a beautiful sentiment! It's certainly heartwarming to see someone with such a kind heart having everything he wanted.
What's amazing is how rare Jared's situation is. He had a list of requirements for working on a new show after SPN and was able to get all of them met, including working close to home and having reasonable hours for the entire production staff. He's also a working EP (not just in name only) who can set the tone on set and also help guide the story.
Very few actors have that opportunity. In fact, forgive the tangent, but I saw an interview today with Lucas Black (LaSalle on NCIS: New Orleans) who ended up quitting his show after six years in order to focus on his family:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So much of what he shared reminded me of the struggles Jared had working long hours so far from home. Even though Lucas could go home to his family, he still didn't get the quality time he wanted with them. I hope that by seeing the success Jared's had with Walker, more executives in Hollywood realize the importance of a work/life balance not just for the cast, but the crew also.

When the daughter of THE Martin Luther King Jr. tells you not to spread propaganda in his name, we think it’s best to just stop.
It’s time to cancel the Hollywood experiment that was Amy Schumer.

“We’re trained to be like, ‘If I’m not exceptional, I won’t be loved.’ Certainly, I think that was my thing,” Gatwa shared. “So, yeah, I think I’m just learning now like, ‘Oh, you are allowed to be loved.’ You don’t have to be excellent or aspire to that term, ‘Black excellence’. What the hell?”
He continued, “There’s so much white mediocrity that gets celebrated, and Black people, we have to be absolutely flawless to get half of [that] anyway. So, I’m slowly training myself out of that and being like, ‘No shit. You deserve love just for existing.’ And that has taught me to be a lot more loving as well, in a weird way.”

In shows and movies often characters are suppose to be tall handsome/pretty . Meanwhile in podcasts, I feel like we all see the characters as just regular everyday people as we should. I love that fanartist stay true to this and don’t draw movie star standard people.

I’m feeling Black Pete appreciation in this Chili’s tonight
Someone else said it better and longer than me, but from the first moment he speaks Pete is established as a rough, combative character, resistant to soft “feminine” things, ready to straight up murder the captain, and then he’s…being sweet and complimentary to the most feminine member of the crew, whittling a finger for him, calling him “babe” and “love” and supporting his art even when that art involves the genitals of other (very attractive) men in the crew. They give us this image in episode one and then spend the entire season just shredding it to pieces. The very moment Pete said “Yeah, love?” I was lost.

Season 3 of Bridgerton is going to be so fucking healing for the big girls cuz for once Hollywood didn’t tell an actress she had to lose weight in order to play a role with intense romance and sex scenes and for once we’ll be able to see a normal looking body on screen

The worst part about reading in a genre where you have low expectations (in this case, Christian historical fiction) is that when a book impresses you, you have no idea if it's actually good or if you're just overly impressed because it was a fraction of a degree better than the usual garbage.
#basically lately anytime i read a christian fiction book that isn't romance-based i find myself surprised by the quality#i do think that some christian publishers are getting better#and trying to tell stories that dig deeper into real faith and messy issues#instead of making only vapid squeaky clean prayer-filled tropefests#but i'm not sure *how much* better#because anything above the low bar feels like great literature#the most recent is 'in a far-off land' by stephanie landsem#and let me tell you setting the prodigal son in 1930s hollywood is a genius concept#i have some issues with the history and the mystery#but the characters!#it has been a long time since i cried this hard over a book#several chapters of solid waterworks#(and i also have the issue of figuring out if it's actually that moving or if i'm just hormonal/sleep-deprived)#i keep thinking about this book but also i worry about recommending because what if it's actually terrible by normal book standards?#(also the author DOES NOT understand the seal of confession and i was SHOCKED to find that she's actually catholic)#but also looking at the reviews makes it clear that if most of christian fiction is vapid garbage it's these reviewers' fault#here you have something that's digging into sin and darkness and justice and mercy and these people are just#'how can it call itself christian fiction if it only mentions god at the end?'#are we reading the same book this WHOLE THING is about god! and humanity and our fallen nature and how this breaks relationships!#your pearl-clutching anytime someone tries to get even a tiny bit realistic is destroying this genre#i'm gonna run out of tags so i'll stop now

Time to get rid of the awful "Romancing Mister Bridgerton" cover!
Guys, this ugly thing needs to go! You know it, I know it, let's at least TRY to make it happen. The goal is to go from this :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To this :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, it ain't gonna kill anyone to take 2mins to sign the petition to get it done.
Don't y'all feel horrible for Nicola over this? She's the only character, so far, whom they felt they had to edit beyond all humanity and recognition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a book entirely about Penelope and Colin accepting themselves and getting comfortable/finding love in that, they didn't accept Penelope & thought the way to publish a cover/poster was to turn an already pretty actress into an A.I. monstrosity. WTF?!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please! Let's show them, that it's not okay to do this kind of shit! Let's stand up & show Netflix, Julia and Shondaland, that if they're not gonna hold themselves accountable for realistic depictions of females and beauty, at least WE WILL!
Tumblr media
Please sign this Petition :
Let's kick hollywood in the balls and show them, that this is not okay! That we won't stand for it! We can do it!
Tumblr media
Let's actually fight together for once! 💪🏼
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Btw, I already send them a Mail & got a response from the publishers. If any of y'all wanna contact them, I'll add their emails & the draft, which is basically copy/paste of the petition :)

Mail :
Dear Representatives for Julia Quinn, Staff at Netflix, Harper-Collins & Shondaland,
I Am writing to inform you of my decision to cancel my pre-order of "Romancing Mister Bridgerton" by Julia Quinn.
I found what the editing team did to the cover unacceptable and refuse to support a company that thinks it's appropriate in 2024 to change a woman's entire face to - apparently - make it "publishable".
In - AGAIN - 2024, it’s really disappointing to see the female lead of a show be so heavily edited, whilst the male lead has been hardly touched.
While I understand that marketing images will always have touch-ups, the amount that was done to Nicola Coughlan is sexist and insulting to her and her hair, makeup artistry team and any plus size fan of the show.
There has been nothing more beautiful for fans than seeing how Nicola Coughlan has stepped into her own power as a leading lady, and to have the spotlight redirected from her on a primary piece of the show’s advertising is a disgrace. She looks like an AI version of herself.
I understand, that the editors have overlaid the actor's faces so that they’re both looking in different directions.
However, when we compare the two photos, we can see that beyond basic retouching AND flipping her face, the following edits to Nicola have been made:
-Redefined her chin
-Erased her elbows
-Elongated her arm
-Enlarged her lips
-Changed the shade of her eyes
-Changed her makeup  (she looks like a circus clown)
-Added cleavage
-Slimmed her waist
The following edits have been made to Luke Newton:
-Increased saturation and sharpened quality
All this on the cover of a book about finding self-acceptance!
It's shameful, troubling and disturbing to any female fans, especially those who have their own body image issues. I know that the books will likely already have been printed, but I also know that they can be reprinted.
At the very least, there is time for the posters to be redone. And if not, I Am calling out bad marketing.
Sincerely,

Wow.... this really hurts my heart for real. 😥
I've heard Taraji talk about this inequality in pay in Hollywood for ages... In fact, I've even posted some of her videos to my blog where she spills the tea and really breaks down for you how much she actually is able to keep from her paychecks. But I have NEVER seen her breakdown like this.... 😭🥺
This just really hurt my spirit... 😔 I keep telling people that a LOT of your faves in Hollywood really aren't making as much money as you THINK they're making. 😔 ESPECIALLY poc.
By the time everyone has a cut, they're not left with as much money as reported. That has to be so discouraging. I know how I feel when I see how much Uncle Sam takes from my pay check every pay period... 🙄 I can't imagine having that AND having to pay my team on top of that.
Now we know why some of these actors are always out here WORKING.... Like, some people are like, "wow, they're ALWAYS working huh?" Or, "Geez, they're in everything!" But now I see, a lot of these actors are working so hard because they HAVE to! Plain and simple!
I remember when people were saying that Zendaya is a "workaholic", or "works too much", and I'll admit, there was even a time in the past when I felt like she could have afforded to take a little break here and there... but now I realize... we don't always know all the facts or what's going on bts! Woc, esp in Hollywood are NOT given the same opportunities/roles as their white (or even male) counterparts, and not only that, but when they DO land a role, they're earning so much LESS than others. It's so sad and, quite frankly, insulting. 😤
My heart goes out to Taraji, because she's been in the game for years, and she's steadily done more and more amazing work year after year... so the fact that she's not getting her due compensation is just awful. 😔 I'm glad she's exposing this.
Even Terence Howard is suing because he feels like he hasn't been compensated half as much as his peers in Hollywood, even though he and Taraji had that hit show "Empire" on Fox for YEARS! I never watched the show past the first season, but I know how POPULAR and well-watched that show was.... it even won awards... So it's just awful that they aren't being paid their worth.
I really hope she doesn't give up acting, because she's so talented. 🥺🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing this Anon.
BTW, here's the FULL portion of the interview in case anyone is interested:

It's funny how kdrama/manhwa fandom suffers from "second male lead syndrome" but never the second female lead syndrome. If a female character dares to breath next to male lead she gets the most hate. Male leads and second male leads could be rapists, mass murderers, destroy people's lives but if they say sorry or simp female lead, it's all fine and dandy. But a female character (not as a female lead) even side eyes the MC, she's treated as demon incarnate.
Unfortunately it's not just in kdrama or manhwa. I saw this phenomenon in Hollywood too. For example breaking bad. Skyler gets so much hate for not being okay with her husband being a meth maker, the guy who ruined people's lives, tried to rape his wife, abused his son. But somehow she's the most hated character in BB.
In Harry Potter, Umbride is hated so much yet Voldemort gets woobified.
There are so many examples like this.
Male characters could do absolutely vile things yet still get forgiving but if a female character is a bitch, she's the worst.
Y'all just love to hate women.

It's so wild being someone who related to Jason's Eldest Daughter/Gifted Kid SyndromesTM and Piper's If I'm Different Maybe I'll Finally Be Good Enough, But Being "Different" Makes Me Feel More Lonely on their first read through HoO/tLH (and being scared, confused and angry at how much it called me out since they were the first characters I saw myself in) VS seeing how much hate for their characters were/are getting for being "boring" kids with personality image issues hits different lmao

"Keeping an eye on Noah Schnapp's behavior."-"However, it's unlikely he'll be fired, recast-" ...Are you fucking kidding me??? Melissa Barrera got fired from Scream 7 for simply saying stop the genocide, but Noah Schnapp is simply getting an eye kept on him??? They acting like he's some kid who misbehaved in school lessons when no, he literally handed out stickers calling genocide 'sexy' and was literally laughing during it.
