Finished up some GOV work today and picked up some books yesterday! Things have been so wack, I’m getting closer to graduating in June and I’m scared!!! High school has been insane , and I have two college classes scheduled for the summer, which I’m so so excited about!! I’ve made so much progress academically and Im so excited to continue my education into something I will love :)

The Welton siblings have entered the AU made by @taterswithranch ! This version of themselves aren't the same as their canonical versions(although the only difference is their work place and some relationships, specifically Zhar's.) But yeah saw this au in my feed and looked cool so yeah!!

Something I like to think about a lot is the circumstances behind Taka being recruited into Hope’s Peak.

I mean, the definitions of “talent” and “skill” are pretty flexible when it comes to DR, but the game still took the time to point out that Taka and Makoto are sort of outsiders compared to the others because they got into the school without relying on talent (I could also mention characters who got in purely because they’re heirs to something i.e. Byakuya, Sonia, and Fuyuhiko, but that’s besides the point-). And Makoto got in through the raffle, so what does that make Taka?

And yeah, it could be that he’s just so hard working and has done so much that his character alone was able break the system and get him into the school, but I still like to think of other possibilities.

There’s a reasoning that I feel fits more in line with the kind of institution Hope’s Peak was revealed to be, and that’s the idea that Taka was accepted purely based on image purposes (and to an extent, his connection to his grandfather). To present him to nation as this underdog that will exceed their expectations and will furthermore make Hope’s Peak look like an even better school.

Like what if instead of his grades or accomplishments being at the forefront of their minds when they accepted him, it was the fact that he is the grandson of a disgraced prime minister? They invited him to their school because it would make people talk. If the public monitored the product of a disgraced family grow to become successful in life, it would only make Hope’s Peak look better. Yeah, it could really be Taka’s own work ethic that gets him places, but the public will instead see that he attended Hope’s Peak. They will see that they achieved the impossible and made the Ishimaru’s look good again. And Taka isn’t aware of this. He just thinks he got in because he’s a hard worker, proving that even the average citizen can accomplish great things.

It’s still worth taking into consideration that this reasoning could apply to other characters (Mondo’s one I could see getting invited to the school for a “redemption arc.”), but I feel that it works better with Taka. He was able to reach one of the best accomplishments of his teenage life, but unbeknownst to him, it was for reasons that go against his main ideology.

#i do think that Hope’s Peak once in a while invites certain students to sell stories rather than study #it’s a fucked up thing that i could see happening #like it’s been seen that they care a lot about being in the public favor #so they do stuff like that to keep people talking about them like they’re geniuses or smth #anyways these are the kinds of thoughts that take time away from me doing homework #danganronpa #danganronpa trigger happy havoc #kiyotaka ishimaru #rambles #ramblepuff

Frenzi loves bitter coffee, and will down 30 cups of straight espresso in an hour tops, which probably isn't very good for them, but hey, screw healthy coffee intakes!
